So I was walking down Rodeo Drive the other day when who should stop me but one... Steven Spielberg. Yeah. And he says to me, "Hey, that Bricked Pit is the best podcast that I've ever heard. Me and my buddy George... you know, George Lucas, never miss an episode." Yeah, that's it. And he loved how our latest episode is about unreliable narrators. Listen as Josh Hartnett, Adam Driver, and Jason Sudeikis discuss such films as The Usual Suspects, Fight Club, Memento, Atonement, and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

Well, it was back in '24 when Adam up and sold all his possessions and moved out west to the Rockies to live off the land as a trapper and all around mountain man since he already felt that he had the beard for it. Josh began training to accomplish his lifelong pursuit to fight a bear in a sumo match. As for Jason, well he decided to sail around the world solo in an inflatable kiddie pool. Why'd they do such things? Some say that they were crazy. Others say they was bored. Still, some believe that they were just plumb stupid. Turns out that they were all those things. Plus, they wanted to prepare to talk about movies concerning man vs. nature like Project Grizzly, The Revenant, All Is Lost, Jerimiah Johnson, and Never Cry Wolf.

You were just going on vacation when you come across a dead body in your hotel room. The cops think that you're the murderer. While they're breathing down your neck, the real killer is getting away. Guess it's a good thing that you're a medical doctor who writes murder mysteries when you're not moonlighting as a private investigator. Josh, Adam, and Jason discuss the mystery genre where normal people have to step in for the police to solve the big mystery. The suspect list contains such films/TV shows as The Zero Effect, Nero Wolfe, Knives Out, Blowout, Lady in White, Confess Fletch, The Thin Man, just a fraction of the Sherlock Holmes adaptations, and much more. 

Unfortunately, it's happened to all of us. Especially when you were young. It wasn't really your fault. You just didn't know any better. You got caught up in the wrong crowd. Peer pressure is a thing. Before you know it, you're using that money that you stole from your mother's purse to buy a ticket to Attack of the Clones. I mean... you saw The Phantom Menace. You know that this isn't going to get any better; but there are your friends waving you into the theater. The latest trailers and Lego sets are racing across their minds. They've succumbed to... THE OVERHYPE!!!!

Join Adam, Jason, and Josh as they discuss those films that rose to the top because someway, somehow the masses were drawn to it; but the films themselves could cast the check that all the hype wrote. Doc Adam amputated his right arm in a very painful procedure that was made even more painful by the fact that it was Josh's legs that were injured in the blast. Lt. Jason took massive casualties to his regiment after being given the order to charge. He took no enemy fire. Instead, he led his men into the river. Few knew how to swim. The morale is low as Adam, Jason, and Josh discuss films dealing with the bloodiest years in American history, the Civil War. Jason, Adam, and Josh discuss such films as Troll 2, Death Race 2000, Mac & Me, Missing in Action, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes.

Jason, Adam, and Josh talk about cartoons dealing with more adult themes that sometimes have curse words, graphic violence, drug and/or alcohol use, and maybe even some nudity. Instead of our usual dose of hate between regular episodes, Jason gives suggestions for anyone not familiar with the Western genre who may want to give it a try.

The book was better. I prefer the original anime over the US live action remake. Playing Battleship was a lot more fun than watching it. Josh, Adam, and Jason discuss those films that just didn't capture the source material 100%. The films themselves may be good, but they just aren't the same as the material that they are drawn from.
