10 Apr 2023Breaking toxic weight-loss culture from the inside out with Katie Bramlett00:53:07

Katie Bramlett started WeShape with the intention of advocating for women to stop focusing on the number on the scale and instead put their energy and efforts towards a more meaningful intention such as movement, rest, and a deeper connection with self.

Her entire product is rooted in intention, movement, community, and beliefs. Katie has a passion for bringing awareness to the toxic expectations placed on women in the fitness industry, as well as the often overshadowed, yet pivotal roles women play in business and entrepreneurship.

Katie's goal is to create awareness through meaningful conversation and curiosity so that women can gain the support of men rather than gaining dominance."It's all about levelling the playing field, not about overly shifting the power in the other direction." ~Katie

27 Jun 2024Extreme hunger & recovery is not linear with previous client Emily Nye00:57:32

In this episode I interview my former client Emily about her eating disorder recovery journey. Emily shares openly about her struggles with anorexia, extreme hunger, fear foods, isolation, and her road to reconnecting with herself.

Key Discussion Points:

- Emily's background and mindset when she first started working with Victoria

- Her "fake" recovery attempts before fully committing to all-in recovery

- Details of her extreme hunger phase - bingeing on Fear foods like digestive biscuits to find calm

- Learning self-compassion and establishing recovery non-negotiables

- Regaining her personality, interests, laughter and ability to cry

- No longer having disordered habits like OCD behaviors

- Her first time honouring extreme hunger around her parents and fear foods

Key Quotes:

"I had just moved up to Sheffield because I was living in London. And because of the eating disorder, I was severely isolated." (00:14:56)

"Enough's enough. I looked in the mirror, and I was I remember saying to myself, is this what we're doing this for? Because I can see myself." (00:16:46)

"I'm getting sick of eating a whole packet of digestives every day, but they seem to be the only thing that calms the panic in my brain." (00:36:40)

"I actually really like spending time with myself now. And that's not ED, isolation, introvert. It's getting to know myself and being okay with myself." (00:49:58)

28 Nov 2023What to do if you’re physically recovered but not mentally recovered?00:30:46

What to do if you’re physically recovered but not mentally recovered?

"I’d love to know how to navigate the feeling of being stuck. You spoke about it recently in a podcast. You said, “Your body will change but your mind won’t.” So essentially that looks like gaining weight yet not finding mental and emotional freedom. Every single time I feel full after eating, eat something other than lettuce and chicken, or see my body in the mirror I’m thrown back into the emotional mental turmoil. Yes my body is “weight restored” and then some as that usually goes, but my mind is not. I try to convince myself otherwise throughout the day but the negative voice is louder because it’s had more power for 20 years….
Just a hard spot to be in.

I was curious when knowing the difference between permission to eat and overeating. Also when the guilt from eating anything other than lettuce should subside? The line between eating and eating too much is hair-thin. Plus not knowing if I’m making an excuse to allow myself to eat is healthy or unhealthy. Like do I need to allow to eat more than comfortable even though my body has overshot the set point…. When do I stop allowing that?

Why do I ALWAYS cycle from anorexia, wanting to get better, bulimia, bingeing trying not to purge, gaining weight, and then start sliding back into restriction and back into the cycle…?"

I'm going to speak to each part separately to give as much detail and value as possible...

One of my random rambles, inspired by a toilet paper and a run 😆 enjoy!
14 Feb 2023How to make steps toward food freedom instead of "Just go all in & you'll be fine" 00:58:17

The title of this episode is "How to make steps toward food freedom instead of just go all in and you'll be fine" ... going all in is NOT easy. There is a lot of fear that comes up as you can imagine and there are many layers to peel back and many beliefs to unlearn. It's certainly a process and honestly, it's the hardest and best thing I've ever done in my life.

I've had 2 Queens recently reach out asking about recovering from an ED with autism and ADHD. Autism spectrum disorder and ADHD are related in several ways and they have very similar symptoms.

I have invited one of these lovely ladies onto my podcast (to be recorded soon) to have a live recorded coaching session so I can help her and others further to navigate recovery with ADHD. (I work best "in the moment" working with an actual client).

Part of her message to me was this:

"In your professional experience, what would you recommend for a client with autism who struggles with routine change, black-and-white thinking, overwhelm /intense emotions, and severe sensory issues, who also needs to recover from Anorexia? Is there a modified approach?"

I'd like to go into each of these struggles and give an alternative suggestion to recovery that isn't "all in". I would like to share that I am not autistic nor do I have ADHD and my opinion is exactly that, my opinion from the information I have been given (not from personal experience) and my knowledge and intuition.

31 Jan 2020How to stop dieting and eat normally: five steps to feeling normal around food 00:19:42
The most important step to healing your relationship with food is to stop dieting! This is the least popular part but unfortunately you can't skip it no matter how advanced you feel, don't make the mistake of thinking you can apply all the other advice I give about intuitive eating and making food choices from a place of love instead of restriction but skip the not dieting part because it won't work! Here are 5 steps that will help you stop dieting and feel normal around food.
14 Nov 2024How to overcome fear00:24:14

In this episode of The Body Love Binge, Victoria Kleinsman discusses strategies for overcoming fear, specifically in the context of eating disorder recovery. She explains why it's necessary to face your fears head-on in order to find freedom on the other side.

What to Expect:

Listeners can expect to gain an understanding of why their eating disorder-related fears feel so real despite being imaginary constructs. Victoria outlines the process of uncovering core wounds that underlie these fears so they can be healed. She also provides encouragement, compassion, and a mantra for moving through fears consistently: "Face your fears, find freedom."

Main Discussion Points:

- Why avoiding fears makes them stronger

- How fears are imaginary yet feel very real

- Getting clarity on where fears originate from

- The difference between danger and fear

- You have to walk through fear to overcome it

- Freedom comes at a cost (giving up control/safety)

- Facing fears with compassion, commitment

Key Quotes:

"Fear isn't real. I'm sorry, what?... Let me just say that again, fear isn't real." (00:09)

"When you face your fear with courage the scary vision turns into something funny." (00:04:42)

"You have absolutely everything you need within you to overcome all of your fears." (00:12:32)

28 Aug 2020How to lose weight00:30:44

https://www.victoriakleinsman.com/how-to-lose-weight/

With the overwhelming choice of diets, meal plans and magic pills out there, You’d think we’d all be dieting pros by now. There are countless experts telling you they know the secret to getting slim by eating this or avoiding that. And then there’s the old “calories in versus calories out” equation that seems so simple at the surface, but is much harder when putting in practice. And with 45 million people in America alone dieting each year and most people failing at those diets, it’s obvious that there is so much more going on underneath the calls to snack on kale chips and forget the calls of McDonald’s.  I want to talk to you about what I wish I had known about diets 20 years ago… Diet’s don’t work long term!  With all the dieting I have done in my life, I always ended up bigger and heavier than I was before I started! I use to think it was my lack of will power and my weak will to be able to stick to anything but now I know the dirty truth…

18 Jul 2024How do I know my extreme hunger isn’t binge eating?00:21:25

In this podcast episode, I discuss the differences between extreme hunger and binge eating in eating disorder recovery. I provide an in-depth explanation of the underlying drivers of both to help you understand why they happen and how to overcome them.

Expect to gain clarity and reassurance around extreme hunger and binge eating through my candid wisdom and personal recovery story.

Main Discussion Points:

- Extreme hunger is a biological and psychological response to restriction and past starvation, while binge eating tends to be a reaction to current restriction

- Binge eating cannot happen if you keep allowing extreme hunger without attempting to restrict or compensate

- Emotional eating is using food to cope with emotions, not the same as binge eating

- Physical deprivation (dieting), mental deprivation (fear or guilt around food), and emotional deprivation (not letting yourself enjoy food) lead to binge eating

- The only way out is to eat freely without restriction forever

Key Quotes:

"Binge eating is simply a healthy response to any type of restriction." (00:10:53)

"The quickest way to the other side in freedom is allowing all foods." (00:16:08)

"The only way to full recovery and mental freedom is to eat unrestrictedly for the rest of your life." (00:18:17)

18 Oct 2019Self-confidence - How to not care what other people think!00:25:25

Self-confidence - How to not care what other people think!

Imagine being worried about what others think about you all the time, what you look like, what you dress like, what you say.

Imagine constantly being stressed and anxious about future events worrying about what could go wrong.

Imagine not saying or doing exactly what you want because you are so bothered about what other people might think or say...

Imagine always being busy with wondering if people like you or if they are being 'off' with you.

Imagine analysing the time you spent with friends or work colleagues to make sure that you were funny enough, or whether or not you said the right thing at the right moment... blah blah blah

Sound familiar?

Unfortunately,  this is how most people think and what they deal with on a daily basis. There is another way to live that is the opposite of this and let me tell you, it is SOOO FREEE AND POWERFUL! It basically all boils down to not giving a sh*t about what people think and you doing you!

Easier said than done though right...? Let me help you reach this state of empowerment.

30 Apr 2020Body Goals and Binge Eating Recovery00:16:39

Can you still strive for body goals whilst giving up dieting and breaking free from binge eating?

Good question my friend and this is what my clients ask me a lot.

They come to me with the desperate want to stop binge eating but they are still clutching tightly to the hope that the road to recovery will lead to weight loss.

I can’t blame them for wanting this. They’ve desired weight loss for most of their life, hence the reason WHY they’re stuck in the diet binge cycle…

My answer to this question is both yes and no at the same time!

Whilst we absolutely CAN strive and work towards health and body-related goals, this can only be done successfully AFTER we have learnt how to free ourselves from the dieting mentality which keeps us stuck IN the diet binge cycle.

My clients will tell you I must say the words; ‘This is a PROCESS’ a million times over, and for good reason...

08 Jul 2020How to stop worrying00:31:08

https://www.victoriakleinsman.com/mindset/how-to-stop-worrying/

Worrying is like praying for something you don’t want

What exactly is worry?

I’m sure we all know too well how worry feels. Stop for a moment now and just notice what you’re currently worrying about in your life… How does thinking about what you’re worrying about make you feel?

But what is worry? Worrying is a form of thinking about future events in a way that leaves you feeling anxious or uncertain.

When we worry we are attempting to mentally problem-solve an event that planned on happening in the future which has one or more possible negative outcomes. It’s an attempt at control.

Whilst future thinking is often helpful and can assist us with goal setting and planning, it becomes a problem when we ‘future think’ about events that leave us feeling anxious, uncertain and on edge.

Clinically, excessive worry is the primary symptom of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Why do we worry?

As humans, we like to control. It’s how our brains work. We are wired to future predict because back in the caveman days if we didn’t plan ahead for potential danger, we wouldn’t survive.

So our brains are wired to constantly problem solve which of course is helpful but not so much if we find ourselves in a constant state of anxiety.

When we can’t accept that the said future event is completely out of our immediate control, we revisit that event in our heads and play the ‘what if’ scenarios out over and over again. We image every “what if” and how we might handle it—we’re trying to control an uncontrollable situation.

How can a mental state tied to so much anxiety be rewarding? Each time we worry and nothing bad happens, our mind connects worry with preventing harm:

worry → nothing bad happens.

And the takeaway is, “It’s a good thing I worried.” (We probably aren’t consciously aware of this thought process.)

5 Reasons why we worry... listen to find out and also to learn 5 ways to stop worry.

23 Mar 2022What is human design and how can it change your life?00:57:34

Just a heads up (as you'll hear in the intro) I'm EXTREMELY excited to have Travis on the podcast!

Whether you have no idea what human design is or if you already know, this episode delivers so much value. Not only is Travis extremely knowledgeable but it's also clear that it is his passion. And when you are on the receiving side of someone's knowledge and passion, it's magnetising.

The questions I asked Travis:

What IS human design and how is it different to astrology?

Can you briefly describe the different energy types of human design?

What about the profile? Like I’m a 4-6, what does that mean?

How does it benefit us to know our design?

How can we know when we are living in alignment or misalignment with our design?

Is human design totally personal to each individual or are there people with the exact same design?

12 Feb 2025Is Emotional Eating Really a Bad Thing?00:16:37

Episode OverviewIn this episode, Victoria Kleinsman dives deep into the topic of emotional eating, exploring its nuances, misconceptions, and the fine line between emotional eating and eating disorders. If you've ever felt guilt or shame around using food for comfort, this episode is a must-listen!

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

🔹Emotional Eating vs. Eating Disorders: The key differences and warning signs that emotional eating might develop into an eating disorder.
🔹Why Judgment is the Real Problem: The moment self-judgment enters the picture, emotional eating can spiral into harmful cycles.
🔹Practical Strategies for Emotional Eating: Why replacing food as a coping mechanism doesn’t work—and what to do instead.
🔹Food Freedom & Body Acceptance: How to develop a healthier relationship with food and your body by embracing full permission.
🔹Victoria’s Personal Journey: How lived experience plays a powerful role in eating disorder recovery.
🔹Key Message for Those Struggling: The most important piece of advice Victoria would give to anyone battling emotional eating or an eating disorder.

Key Takeaways & Quotes:

💬“I don’t care what you eat—I care how you feel about what you eat.”

💬“Emotional eating is not a problem unless you make it one. It becomes an issue when judgment enters the picture.”

💬“If emotional eating is negatively affecting your life, get help—don’t wait until it spirals into a full-blown eating disorder.”

💬“Trying to ‘eat in moderation’ is still a form of restriction. True food freedom is allowing yourself full permission to eat.”

20 Apr 2022The missing link to healing body image00:44:45

Ah, Body Image... what a complex conversation to be had. There are so many layers to body image and we each have different trauma and trigger responses around it.

We weren't born with anxiety about what our bodies look like... or with chronic overwhelm, worrying about what others might think of our appearance. We have learned all of that (consciously and unconsciously) through the world we live in.

If we hadn't experienced body image trauma before, then we wouldn't be fearfully anxious about what size or shape our bodies are. We wouldn't even think twice about what others thought about our bodies. We would be fully happy with the body we have and we'd just eat whatever we wanted without weight loss or weight gain even entering our minds... imagine that!

So it's clear that most of us (from the research I've done and continue to do, I'd guestimate around 80% of women in the world) suffer from body image trauma. AKA the way they think their body looks is significantly negatively affecting their lives (and most likely their relationship with food).

Mindset alone is not the answer so what is? Listen to find out my love.

24 Sep 2020Anxiety & Dieting 00:16:48

The root of dieting is actually a coping mechanism. It’s an attempt to cope with internal and external stresses.

Internal stresses such as shame, guilt, fear and anxiety and external stressors such as fat-phobia and the truth that the world we live in holds beauty and thinness on a pedestal.

Some of these stressors are based purely on the external fatphobia and values of our culture. For example, dealing with judgements of others on the basis of body size, managing discrimination from professionals such as doctors and colleagues or generally trying to lose weight in order to fit in.

Listen to find out how to cope during these internal and external pressures.

25 Jan 2023"I miss aspects of my eating disorder"00:50:04

This episode was inspired by Sarah who is in my free support group and is an avid listener of my podcast – thanks, Sarah!

“How do you move from missing the ’empty tight feeling’ in the stomach each morning?”

This is a great question because I used to miss this feeling so much, along with other aspects of the eating disorder, which is what I want to go into today. I know that I’m not the only one who feels (or more so felt) this way and so I want to talk about it in the hope to validate and support those that are currently in recovery and perhaps missing the eating disorder.

It’s normal, it will pass and going back to the ED is NOT the answer.

06 Jul 2021How to "get your body back"00:24:04

We've all been there... We get a Timehop photo pop up on social media and we sit there wishing we looked like that again.

The ironic thing is; when said photo was taken, 9 times out of 10, we thought we needed to lose weight then too! 👀

That is actually a powerful and great thing to release because it just proves that "It's always all in your head!" If the way you saw your body then was "not good enough" then the way you see your body now or in the future - regardless of whether or not you lose weight - still won't be "good enough."

Tune in for true helpful action steps and mindset shifts to actually be able to let go of your old thinner self.

01 Nov 2019Why changing is so f***ing hard and what you can do about it! 00:28:01

What do you wish you could change in your life right now?  Why haven't you been able to make these wanted changes into reality yet?  What do you think you need to do in order to make the changes you desire?  What is in your way of change? The answer to this question is very simple: nothing!  Change is possible for everyone, even you! You know that binge eating that you just wish you could 'stop doing', or that habit you do every morning of constantly snoozing your alarm? Or even the way you always retaliate towards your partner...?  You know what I'm talking about right...?! Of course, you do! So then why can't you 'stop' doing these things?  That is a good question my friend (even though I asked the question, not you but anyhow...) and I'm going to reveal all...

18 Jun 2020How to train your subconscious mind00:36:16

www.victoriakleinsman.com

The power of your subconscious mind goes further than you might think.

I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say our brains are extremely complicated.

However, you might be surprised by how much control we actually have over its programming.

Before I dive into that:

Let’s first take a moment to just consider the fact that your subconscious mind is like a huge memory bank. Its capacity is virtually unlimited and it permanently stores everything that ever happens to you.

WOW!

Your subconscious mind’s job is to store and retrieve data.

Its job is to ensure that you respond exactly the way you are programmed. Your subconscious mind makes everything you say and do fit a pattern consistent with your self-concept, your “master program.”

This is why repeating positive affirmations are so effective — you can actually reprogram your own thought patterns by affirming positive sentences to yourself.

This is why reading inspirational quotes, for example, has an impact on people who are committed to positive thinking. By focusing your thoughts on uplifting ideas, your subconscious will begin to perform a positive pattern in your way of thinking and your outlook on life.

Your subconscious mind is influenced. It does not think or reason independently; it simply obeys the commands it receives from your conscious mind.

I great way to look at this is to see your conscious mind as the gardener, planting seeds and see your subconscious mind as the garden, or fertile soil, in which the seeds develop and grow.

This is another reason why adopting the power of positive thinking is important to the foundation of your entire thought process.

Your conscious mind commands and your subconscious mind obeys.

Your subconscious mind is an unquestioning servant that works day and night to make sure that your behaviour fits a pattern consistent with your emotionalized thoughts, hopes, and desires.

Your subconscious mind grows either flowers or weeds in the garden of your life, whichever you plant by the mental equivalents you create.

Your subconscious mind keeps you thinking and acting in a manner consistent with what you have done and said in the past.

Your subconscious mind causes you to feel emotionally and physically uncomfortable whenever you attempt to do anything new or different or to change any of your established patterns of behaviour.

The sense of fear and discomfort are psychological signs that your subconscious has been activated. But it’s been working to establish those behaviour patterns in the background long before you’ll ever notice the fear and discomfort.

Your subconscious mind is the gatekeeper of your comfort zone.

You can feel your subconscious pulling you back toward your comfort zone each time you try something new. Even thinking about doing something different from what you’re used to will make you feel tense and uneasy.

I know you know what I’m talking about…!

13 ways to start training your subconscious mind...

04 Aug 2022 Is sugar addiction a thing?00:33:47

I was a self-confessed sugar addict that could never get enough and couldn’t stop even though I wanted to… sound familiar?

I’m sure you’ve heard the statement “sugar is as addictive as cocaine” and if you haven’t, don’t be alarmed as this is not the case. It honestly seems like sugar is everything that is wrong with the world.

In this episode, I am going to share why you cannot be addicted to sugar, and believing that you can will do you more harm than good.

27 Jul 2021"Food addiction" - it is real?00:19:51

Going back a few years, I legit thought I was “addicted” to sugar. I read books on it, listened to podcasts about it and everything they were describing was how I felt and acted around sugar.

Part of my brain liked this realisation because it was an “excuse” as to why I couldn’t control myself. It was my “fault”, I was ADDICTED! And so I put myself on a quest to cut it out of my diet completely, promising myself that I would never eat the “poison” again!

...Of course, that lasted about 3 days 🤣 and there I was again, sat on the sofa, belly so full I could hardly breathe, loathing the sight of myself and all the empty chocolate wrappers.  But even still, the diet voice was still there… “Now that you’ve binged on chocolate and sugar again, write down how sh*t you feel. Then when you give up sugar again on Monday – for real this time – you’ll have something to refer back to.”

That’s what a lot of experts say in the personal development world, isn’t it…? To take full responsibility and to remind yourself that YOU are in control and everything in life is a CHOICE.

Want a better life? Then ask better questions and make better choices…

There are 2 things wrong with that statement;

1. In order to make a conscious choice, we need to be in a relaxed state to do so. Chronic dieters who are stuck in the diet-binge cycle have so much food and body trauma, it’s impossible for them to be able to make any kind of relaxed conscious choice around food. (Until they do the work around this.)

2. Eating is a biological need – it’s a natural animal instinct, just like breathing and thirst. And when we restrict – whether that’s cutting out foods groups, stopping sugar, restricting calories, or even thinking about dieting – our bodies biologically crave high-fat high sugar foods. Your biology literally physically changes to drive you to eat these types of food.

To learn more about this read my article on binge eating: https://victoriakleinsman.com/mindset/how-to-stop-binge-eating/

In this episode I’m going to reveal the truth about “food addiction” (I can’t even type it without putting it in quotes😆) so that you can see that you’re not broken or weird or addicted… you’re just like I used to be and all you need to do is come back to yourself and know that there is another way. 🙏🏼  https://victoriakleinsman.com/mindset/food-addiction-is-it-real/

27 Mar 2020What is emotional eating?00:31:26

Are You An Emotional Eater?

  • Do you eat to feel better or relieve stress?
  • Do you eat because eating that bowl of ice cream is the highlight of your day?
  • Do you eat when you are happy to exaggerate that happy feeling?
  • Do you eat when you are sad or pissed off to comfort yourself?
  • Do you eat when you're not hungry?

If you answered yes to any of the above then you’re most likely an emotional eater, welcome to the club!

I would say that 99% of humans are in the same club so it’s really nothing to worry about… that is unless it’s happening so often that it’s having a negative impact on your life.

There is a spectrum when it comes to emotional eating (like most things) and everyone will be somewhere on that spectrum. If you are considered a ‘normal eater’ you will most likely be at the bottom end of the spectrum. If you always turn to food and eat in large amounts, you will most likely be on the high end of the spectrum.

A lot of people (most of my clients and my past self) are both emotional eaters and binge eaters. Don’t worry, there is hope! Emotional eating is more complex than binge eating so I will dedicate this page to emotional eating and this page to binge eating.

Ok then so emotional eating…

12 Dec 20244 steps to start overcoming your fear of weight gain00:33:45

In this podcast episode, Victoria Kleinsman talks about overcoming the fear of weight gain. She shares her personal struggles with this fear and offers practical tips on how we can move past it to live fuller, happier lives.

Main discussion points:

- Weight gain is often seen as a marker of personal failure in society. This breeds deep fears in many people (Victoria shares that she'd rather have died than gain weight).

- The fear manifests in behaviours like chronic dieting, bingeing-purging cycles, obsessive weighing, etc. But these approaches rarely work long-term.

- Fear of weight gain is not innate; it's learned. It links to deeper fears of being unloved and rejected.

- The fear can become self-fulfilling - stress promotes fat storage. Fear of weight gain causes stress leading to actual weight gain.

- Shift focus to self-care habits that gradually diffuse the fear - pursuing passions, spending time with body-positive people, speaking kindly to yourself.

- Understand that you can live happily at many weights. Chasing thinness often sacrifices what truly matters - intimacy, meaning, fulfillment.

Key quotes:

"I would rather have died than gain weight." [00:01:39]

"We think we'll be better when we're thinner. It's time to claim back your worthiness, my love." [00:08:30]

"Thinness is not an innate human need. Love and acceptance is." [00:25:22]

30 Dec 2021The 4 stages of body image work00:39:50

The problem isn't that you're binge eating, it's that you're restricting.

Why are you restricting?

Because you don't like your body and want to be thinner.

Why do you want to be thinner?

For X number of reasons most likely mainly due to wanting to be seen as attractive, be liked and lusted after, to fit in, to receive more validation, ultimately to be more LOVED...

You want to be thinner because you don't love YOU. You don't think you're enough just being you, your quirks and all...

But what if you were already enough exactly as you are NOW?

What if you looked in the mirror and loved the reflection looking back at you? Not necessarily aesthetically but you were completely utterly in love with YOU? ALL of you... and saw your body as a piece of art created by nature itself... because that's what you ARE my love, you just might not be able to see it... yet...

Here are the 4 stages of body image work that I  went through and that I take my clients through. If at any point when you're listening, it feels out of reach for you, don't worry. This is a process, a journey and you will get there if you just keep going and reach out for support.

03 Oct 2023Why do we develop eating disorders?00:34:04

What a ballsy question for me to do my best answering...

There are, of course, many layers as to why one might develop an eating disorder, as everyone is unique and has experienced different life experiences. I have, however, seen many similarities in my clients (including myself) as we’ve peeled back the layers and discovered the root cause.

The question isn’t;

“Why the addiction?”

IT IS;

“Why the pain?”

In this context, I'm speaking about the addiction to restriction or the addiction to needing to be perfect etc.

Let's dive in...

13 Mar 2024How to get rid of eating disorder thoughts00:23:07

In this episode, Victoria Kleinsman answers a listener's question about how to get rid of eating disorder thoughts and live a normal day without constantly thinking about burning calories. She provides a step-by-step process for rewiring your brain to stop eating disorder thoughts. Main Discussion Points: - The origin of eating disorders often stems from not feeling worthy or good enough, leading to an unconscious search for control (timestamp: [00:03:48]) - You must become aware of eating disorder thoughts before you can change them (timestamp: [00:04:43]) - Do the opposite of what the eating disorder wants you to do - this trains your brain via your behaviors (timestamp: [00:14:33]) - Changing thought patterns takes consistency and repetition (timestamp: [00:16:36]) - Expect to feel a range of emotions as you go through this process (timestamp: [00:17:57]) Key Quotes: "You can live a normal day when you've gone through the cluster fuck of fear that appears before you when you choose recovery." (timestamp: [00:00:54]) "Anything you resist persists. So if you fight the eating disorder thoughts, then they'll get stronger." (timestamp: [00:09:07])

When I first heard about the concept of listening to your body and relying on it to tell you what and how much to eat, I was extremely sceptical. I'd think things like:

"That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!"

"I can't trust my body to tell me what to eat, I'd literally never stop eating chocolate!"

"How do I even listen to my body anyway?"

Whether you're already on your journey to food freedom and body love or you're considering it, this episode will give you key insights as to the why and how to trust your body to guide your eating.

08 Oct 20206 ways to help calm anger00:18:35

I’m sure we’ve all experienced that burning rage of anger at least a few times in our lives. For me, it starts in my chest and it feels like hot lava rising up towards my head. My central nervous system is on full alert and I start shaking. It’s a long time since I felt that way but I remember it like it was yesterday.  Your anger is there is communicate with you This fiery emotion is a totally justified response to betrayal, loss, injustice, hurt, trauma, or violation. It is so important to honour and give space to this feeling (as it is with every feeling) so that we can acknowledge it and look towards what it is that has caused this fire within us.  When we don’t allow ourselves to feel anger we cause ourselves more suffering.  “Suffering is fighting reality.”  And when we don’t consciously make space for the anger to be there without taking responsibility for our emotions and allow it to consume us, we end up hurting others.  So I would like to share with you 6 action steps that will help you to calm your emotions and to ground yourself.

08 Jan 2021How to stick to healthy habits00:18:55

As I write this we are at the start of January and there are diets and juice cleanses flying around all over the place. There on our social media, in adverts and in practically 90% of every conversation we have with someone.

I use to BE one of those people who was always on a diet in January. I would have binged and then practically force-fed myself over the Christmas period with the knowledge and promise that I would be “sorting it out” in January.

After MANY years of “failing” within the first few weeks and then deciding to just give up chocolate for lent instead – which starts around Easter – I finally learnt how to free myself from binge eating (and dieting – they go hand in hand) and to build healthy habits that supported my goals instead.

I had to let go of the black or white mentality which was super hard for me but with the help and support of my coach I did it! It wasn’t until I allowed myself to flirt around in the grey area (the colourful area I like to call it!) of life in general – including food and exercise – was I able to fully embrace the sustainability that comes from building healthy habits with a balanced mindset.

I’m going to share with you 7 simple steps (most of the time all we actually need is simplicity but we always like to overcomplicate things) to “stick” to healthy habits so that you can reap the benefits of them without having to start again every January or every Monday!

Ok, lets gooooo...

21 Mar 2023"How can going 'all in' work if bingeing triggers purging?"00:51:10

“If I allow myself to eat all of my forbidden foods then it will trigger bingeing and then purging, as bingeing is a trigger for me to purge. How is it possible to eat unrestricted and stop purging?”

12 Mar 2025What about if you need to lose weight for health reasons?00:17:25

In this episode, I dive deep into one of the most common objections to body acceptance: "But what if I need to lose weight for health reasons?" This question comes up all the time whenever we discuss self-love, body positivity, and food freedom.

Spoiler alert: You do not need to hate your body into health. In fact, research shows that shame, guilt, and self-loathing do the opposite of promoting well-being. I unpack the myths surrounding weight and health, the dangers of diet culture, and what true health actually looks like.

Expect truth bombs, science-backed insights, and powerful mindset shifts that will change the way you think about health, weight, and self-worth. Plus, I share 15 journal prompts to help you shift your perspective and take empowered action!

What You’ll Learn in This Episode:

✔️ Why shaming yourself doesn’t lead to health (and often makes things worse)
✔️ The science behind weight and health—what actually causes illness?
✔️ How diet culture keeps you stuck in a cycle of restriction and self-sabotage
✔️ The difference between weight-focused vs. health-focused behaviours
✔️ What actually improves your well-being—without stepping on a scale
✔️ How to challenge fatphobia and unlearn harmful conditioning

Key Takeaways & Journal Prompts:

📖 Reflect on these questions to challenge your beliefs about weight and health:
1️⃣ What messages did I receive about weight and health growing up? Where did they come from?
2️⃣ If I never weighed myself again, how would I measure my health?
3️⃣ How would I treat my body differently if I believed it was worthy of love exactly as it is?
4️⃣ Where in my life do I see fatphobia showing up? How can I challenge these biases?
5️⃣ What does true self-care look like for me—without punishment, restriction, or control?

5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode:

1️⃣ “If shaming yourself into thinness worked, there wouldn’t be a multi-billion pound diet industry profiting off your insecurities.”

2️⃣ “Your health does not define your worth. You deserve love, respect, and care—no matter what your body looks like.”

3️⃣ “Telling someone to lose weight to manage their diabetes is like telling them to whiten their teeth to cure lung cancer. It completely misses the point.”

4️⃣ “Weight is not the ultimate indicator of health. You can pursue health without being fixated on a number on the scale.”

5️⃣ “Stop asking, ‘How do I lose weight?’ and start asking, ‘How can I nourish my body, mind, and soul?’ That’s where true health begins.”

15 Jul 2021Why intuitive eating alone won't heal your relationship with food 🤯00:36:15

Intuitive eating is a great tool to get you well on the way to healing your relationship with food and your body, however, only eating intuitively will not magically “fix” everything so that you’re eating effortlessly without a care in the world – especially if you’ve been stuck in the diet binge cycle for many years.

In this episode, I’m going to share with you the benefits of learning how to eat intuitively and the common pitfalls. I will also show you how to navigate these pitfalls so that you can truly live fully in food and body freedom.

12 Sep 2024Q&A with Tabitha Farrar00:53:46

In this episode, Victoria Kleinsman interviews eating disorder recovery coach Tabitha Farrar about her experiences helping clients recover from eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. They discuss the recovery process for those with additional diagnoses like autism or OCD, dealing with fears around weight gain and health implications of eating more, as well as Tabitha's own journey to recovery. Expect candid stories and practical advice for supporting loved ones with eating disorders.

Main Discussion Points:

- Recovery process and adaptations needed for those with autism, OCD, or trauma histories [00:00:20]

- Knowing when you are fully recovered and your brain is "rewired" [00:03:54]

- Taking a "sledgehammer" approach at first by acting opposite to eating disorder urges [00:01:10]

- Missing extreme hunger once it's passed - it's normal [00:38:58]

- Tabitha's journey giving up excessive exercise cold turkey [00:23:56]

- Ideas around taking time off work to focus on recovery [00:45:52]

Quotes:

"We have to be accountable for our actions. Your eating disorder cannot physically make your legs run a 10k every morning." [00:14:52]

"I decided, look. You're gonna gain weight. It's gonna happen. So you may as well enjoy it because I could choose to gain weight and engage with all those negative emotions and have an awful time." [00:31:53]

On giving up exercise: "I just decided I'm I'm stopping, and I meant it, and I stopped...I thought that all hell would break loose, and it just kinda didn't. It was just fine." [00:24:55]

06 Aug 2024How to Help Your Child Overcome an Eating Disorder: Advice from Tracey Yokas00:59:03

In this episode of the Body Love Binge Podcast, host Victoria Kleinsman interviews Tracey Yokas, an advocate for mental health and wellness. Tracey shares her family's journey with mental illness to help others know they are not alone.

The conversation focuses on Tracey's experience as a mother to a daughter struggling with disordered eating and depression. She provides insight into how a parent's past can impact how they show up for their children, especially when difficulties arise.

Overall, listeners can expect to gain perspective on mothering children with mental health issues. There is also helpful advice around self-care, healing generational trauma, and embracing imperfection.

Guest Bio:

Tracey Yokas is dedicated to supporting women on their wellness journeys. She earned her master's degree in counseling psychology and lives with her family in California. Tracey creates art and writes about mental health to help destigmatize related issues. She recently published a memoir entitled "Bloodlines: A Memoir of Harm and Healing."

Tracy's book: https://traceyyokascreates.com

Main Discussion Points:

- The grief over Tracey's mother's passing preceded the onset of her daughter's eating disorder symptoms at age 13 (06:50). She believes death and grief can trigger mental health struggles.

- As a parent, Tracey felt confused, scared and angry in response to her daughter's eating disorder behaviors (12:02). She sought professional help, but her daughter continued declining.

- Tracey emphasizes the importance of parents getting therapy to heal themselves. This enables them to be better support systems (14:44).

- Her daughter ultimately spent time in intensive outpatient therapy as well as two residential treatment centers. Tracey says there's no one answer, but time and engagement played a big role in recovery (29:02).

Quotes:

"I realised that the only thing I could do was start doing my own work to heal that and then allow my daughter to see me taking my own journey seriously." (39:44)

"The relationship we want with other people is on the other side of the one we have with ourselves." (43:11)

"Our children are people. Can we look at them without all of that baggage that was put on us by our parents?" (52:01)

21 Oct 20204 simple ways to correct your hormones 00:14:08

If your hormones and menstrual cycle have gone a little crazy this year, you're not alone. Stress, being out of your routine and many other factors can affect your hormones and your menstrual cycle.

The idea of balancing your hormones sounds great, right? But it can put you right off if you need to up-haul your life in order to do so.

Good news....You don't have to!

Keep it simple

Simple is best! It's only our ego's that want things to be complicated. Or at least we "think" that in order for things to work, they need to be difficult and complicated. That's simply not true.

So I'm going to share with you 4 simple ways (that work) to correct your hormones:

04 Oct 2019How Do I Love Myself When I don't Know Where To Start?00:21:48

Oh gosh, where to begin.  How did liking who we are become an incredibly difficult daily struggle? When did self-criticism become the norm? How did we get here?  I know-how, MARKETING!  Companies have got really good at making us feel like something is missing. If we just buy their product, we will feel whole!  So the economy has boomed and our self-esteem has gone in the toilet.  Especially for women, we typically make the majority of buying decisions. We choose one brand of detergent over another. We choose one brand of toothpaste, peanut butter, and toilet paper and we stick to it!  If that sounds sexist, it’s not supposed to. It’s just true that women are doing more shopping than men when it comes to household items. Personally, I love buying new shampoo, toothpaste (why do I keep using toothpaste as an example?) and deodorant.  Billions of pounds/euros/dollars are spent on convincing us something needs to change. Something can be improved, we can be a little bit happier if we’re a little bit prettier and slimmer.  So it makes sense that it takes intentional effort to undo all the damage those messages cause on a daily basis.  Here’s how I would begin if I had to start my journey to body confidence all over again.
