Julie and Shawna Benson are back with the finale of this 3-Part Story Arc with Roge Antonio on pencils.  The Daughters of Gotham are not playing around with the males in Batgirl's city.  As convincing as the D.O.G. are with their sales pitch, Batgirl and the Extended Birds of Prey are not buying.  

What do you think about the finale and the story arc as a whole?  This is the last story of the year.  Did it end the year with a bang?  Ashford believes that this is one of the most interesting villains in Gotham that needed some more story.  For all intense and purposes, the Daughters of Gotham achieved their goal.  Too bad the best heroes in Gotham happen to be featured in this title.  Bam!!

Welcome to the 10th episode of Feathers and Foes. Can you believe it!  10 episodes.  And this episode is a doozy.  Perhaps it is not a doozy.  To be honest, I don't even know what would constitute a doozy.

In this episode, we are covering issue 1 proper of Birds of Prey.  The story is called Long Time Gone written by Chuck Dixon and illustrated by Greg Land, and inked by Drew Geraci.  Black Canary and Oracle are in top form.

Ashford, Mark, and Laurel discuss issue 52 of Birds of Prey.  Black Canary is trying to assist Java in saving Sapphire and son, while the Oracle is battling a front at home, and it is uncomfortable as all get out.  The Birds of Prey have faced stronger threats, but with Black Canary having to be kind of on the side in her story, and Babes seemingly not being in control, this issue lends itself to being quite interesting.  

Zinda Blake is on a mission to bring some sort of final justice to Killer Shark, who is carrying out the legacy his grandfather started, which is quite horrific.  Also, Black Alice is in town.  Is it room for both she and Misfit?  Yes.  A whole-hearted yes.

Batgirl and the Birds of Prey, written by Julie Benson and Shawna Benson, are embarking on perhaps the last story arc by these two writers.  Mark, Sarah, and Ashford discuss this intense story arc opener.  

Batgirl has hacked into the Calculator's computer system, extracting his database to prevent crimes before they happen.  Although Barbara is trying to do the greater good, perhaps she is placing her loved ones in harms way.  

The crew, Laurel, Ashford, and Mark, discuss the fast romp/Black Canary ascension of the 2nd installment of Progeny by Gail Simone.  H.I.V.E. is after the Birds of Prey and over on the other side of the world, Black Canary is living in Lady Shiva's shoes, and they hurt like hell.  One Year Later, but the threat is right now!

Terry Moore and Amanda Conner are back with their second story in the Chaotic Code story arc.  Barbara is enjoying her new ability to not only walk, but kick butt as well with the help of the meta human power of Madison, a mystery teenager who is manipulated in helping a mad scientist.  And on the other side of the plot mountain is Black Canary, who has been thrown in an unmarked van with men with guns and knives.  

Batgirl and the Birds of Prey 12, moves the story right along with guest appearance from Selina Kyle...Catwoman.  Calculator has gotten himself in too deep, and now his family are being held hostage at Terracare, a company claiming to be eco-friendly.  Although they are not keen on helping out former foe the Calculator, the Birds agree that with a mother and children involved, they must lend their service to saving innocents.  

Catwoman stole something from the vaults of Terracare that has lead to the kidnapping.  The Birds are a little hesitant about contacting Catwoman. They don't know how she might react with them telling her that she is going to have to return the jewels back to Terracare.   Batgirl was right.  As you can see above, Catwoman for one, didn't appreciate the ruse that Batgirl played on her, which involves the Batman, and Batgirl placing her nose in Catwoman's business.  I'm totally surprised that Bruce played that game.  He will answer to Selina later, I'm sure.

Welcome to the first episode of Feather's and Foes, a Birds of Prey Podcast, hosted by Ashford and Ligia.  The pair are going all the way back to the first time these two characters, Black Canary and Oracle, were paired together to take on injustice.  The first story is called "One Man's Hell", which is a story where Oracle hires a down and out Black Canary to investigate a terrorist organization called the Green Brother Hood, who has been blowing up sites where they believe new technology will have a horrible affect on the environment.  Will the Birds be able to stop these terrorists? The Ravens Strike is issue 4 Volume 1.  Written by Chuck Dixon.  Art team are Greg Land, Drew Geraci, and Gloria Vazquez.  A new Story Arc where the Black Canary just wants to get away for some R&R, but of course, those plans will be interrupted by the Cobras, a covert operation that have contracted the Ravens, Chesire, Pistolera, and Vicious to go to the same location where Black Canary is relaxing, not intended, to retrieve something of mystery...for now.   

Blue Beetle and Robin join the Birds of Prey this issue to assist with capturing the remaining criminals who not only escaped from prison, but was also Jokerized.  Yep, this is kind of the aftermath of the crossover event, Joker's Last Laugh.

And the other side of town, Oracle is trying to coach Dick Greyson, who is still ashamed of himself and brooding because he attempted to murder the Joker.

Mark and Ashford really enjoyed this one.  Guys, the Condiment King is in this one...and he is not playing around with the Birds and Gotham.

Yes, Marvel Studios released Black Panther, and it was glorious.  Here at the Wright On Network, we have been working on giving you a response to the film, but we didn't want to rush anything out.  We wanted to compile some conversations from people with different vantage points, which we believe is important, for we all have our different schema, philosophies, and experiences.  

Ryan Daly of the Power of Fishnets podcast over at the www.fireandwaterpodcast.com, Mark of the Feathers and Foes podcast, Delvin, Dr. Shelby-King, and Jada all joined Ashford in a discussion about this unique triumph, Black Panther.  

Gail Simone has our heroes in the Mid West, facing a threat that is actually doing some good, which really places the Birds in a situation where they have to reevaluate their moral code.

Yes, the Birds are in Paris, but this is not a love story.  Well, actually...this is a love story between the reader and creators.  This is a rocking story, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey 18 is.  We have Spyral, Paris, future tech, a connection with other books in the DCU, and the Birds of Prey!  

When Huntress is propositioned a case in Paris from Tiger, a player in the Spyral organization, which Huntress used to be apart of before joining the BOP, she recruits the Birds of Prey to come along.  As it happens, Barbara Gordon was in route to the City of Lights for a Tech Talk, and we all know Black Canary is down for whatever, so how can we not love this bottle issue? The Benson sisters, Shawna and Julie, craft an excellent beginning opener, sprinkled with guest stars, suspense, and mystery.  Roge Antonio created some great scenes of horror, and the reveal at the end, which is spoiled by the cover, but is still bad "behind", is worth the price of admission.

Ligia and Ashford are back to discuss the Birds of Prey Issue: Batgirl, a story of Batgirl and Black Canary.  What?  You must see how writer Chuck Dixon brings all of this together.  And the rogue's gallery is really in this one, ranging from the Mad Hatter to the Joker.  Released in 1998, the Birds are swinging towards 1999 with a bang!

In addition to this issue Ashford and new Co-Host Mark discuss the pilot episode of the WB Network's show, Birds of Prey from 2002.  Ashford and Mark will discuss this show each issue until the end of its series.  In this episode we get an appearance from Aaron Paul.  No, there is no meth involved, but with some of the meta human abilities of Huntress, perhaps you might feel like you're on that Chrystal.  

Chuck Dixon ramps the drama up in this intense, romantic story involving Black Canary and Ra's Al Ghul.  And yes, Talia is not happy about the proposition her father offers to Dinah Lance.

Beautiful art by Butch Guice and Gloria Vasquez, who really capture the romance and horror of this book.  Mark and I are still puzzled by the characterization of Dinah, but there are so many talking points in this book that we really enjoyed discussing this story.

The emotional beats displayed in the writing and art are quite masterful.

Ligia and Ashford cover the 3rd issue of the Man Hunt Saga, "The Man That Got Away". Black Canary is kidnapped by Braun, a dude that crushed Huntress's heart, and did the Black Canary wrong.  The Huntress and Catwoman are teaming up to save the Black Canary and bring Braun to justice.

The scenery changes as Braun takes the Black Canary to Katchick 9-9, a forgotten city in Kazakastan.   

Helena, Black Canary, and a group of high school kids are on a bus. Destination: Out of City Limits.  Yep, this sponsored school trip is taking this motley crew to a site where the students can learn more about their hometown's history.  Hopefully, nothing in the woods will make these present day school children history.

The Saga Continues with this whole Bruce Wayne being accused of murder, and now he is on the run.  Displaying loyalty, and ensuring that justice is done, Barbara Gordon is still on the case.  She commissions Black Canary to rob a bank in broad daylight, which Black Canary obliges, for she is also displaying loyalty to The Oracle.

The Joker's Tale is the second saga for this new direction of the Birds.  You will not want to miss what is cooking in this book.  Guys, we have a Joker story with OUTSTANDING art.  If you don't have this book, get it now.

Harley Quinn lost her woman, her family, and perhaps, her mind?  Returning to Gotham to confront those who destroyed her home/business and family.  But as you might imagine, things don't go as plan.  

In Tony Bedard's second issue, we get a Huntress Showcase, which makes Ashford rather happy.  Mark and Laurel weigh in on the conversation as well.  So misguided youth are will to hurt the lives of others to break out their incarcerated idol, The Atomic Skull.  Oracle has gone through her list of operatives she's used in the past, but all are not available, which leaves Barbara Gordon with The Huntress.  And boy does the Huntress truly deliver.

The Birds are out of Gotham and into a new adventure in the Mid West.  Lori, AKA, Black Alice, is filled with unchecked angst and a huge range of power, which will create quite the challenge for our Birds of Prey.  

Issue 38 of Birds of Prey is half one shot/half origin story, but one thing is for certain, it is back to basics.  Yes, Oracle in the chair, and Black Canary in the field.  Together again...well together via comm links.  

New Future Tech is going down at a company that may cause terrorist like espionage, and Black Canary is there to make sure that doesn't happen.  Listen to Mark and Ashford thoughts about the issue that is the dawn before the Batman Murderer crossover, which we are really excited about to tell you the truth.  Sorry, I didn't want to end the sentence with about.  Like I did right there.  You know, ending sentences with prepositions and the like.  I'm rambling.

Black Canary and Ra's Al Ghul's relationship is coming to an end, which is a good thing.  Unfortunately, this may be curtains for our hero, The Black Canary, unless Oracle and crew can come to the rescue.  Desperate measures will be the only option to save Dinah, and you are not going to believe what the solution is until you read this issue.  You are going to want to hear this one for sure.

Oh boy.  The Game is On, indeed.  The Calculator can not rest till he discovers who this Oracle character is...and when he does rest, he dreams of capturing the Oracle.  

Helena Bertinelli is going deep undercover, setting up best laid plans by making herself a Capo, which can have her take down organized crime from the inside.

And Black Canary is working on herself, being in the moment with her team, while looking forward, apprehensively, to resolve some loose ends with a prior relationship.

Cool art, a Trinity guest appearance, and a well-written script almost didn't save this book's ratings, for the gross cover and subject matter within the book really ruffled the feathers of Ashford, Mark, and Laurel.  Were we too hard on this book?  Take a listen and you decide.
