13 Sep 2021 | 2021 Showcase: WOE.BEGONE | 00:19:11
Hey guys. My name is Dylan Griggs and I'm the showrunner: the director, the writer, the editor, the actor, and the musician on the one-man show WOE.BEGONE, stylized WOE.BEGONE. WOE.BEGONE is the story of Mike Walters, a man who discovers a mysterious and violent online game named WOE.BEGONE. What begins as an exploration of an alternate reality game with real-life elements quickly becomes a search for the power that makes that game possible. It is an exploration of what it means to seek, to maintain, and to use power. I consider it a mystery/sci-fi/horror/comedy roughly in that order, and there's a new soundtrack every episode provided by myself. You're about to hear episode 1, Participant Observation, in which Mike discovers the game, decides to participate in it, and reckons with the consequences of his actions. Thanks for listening. 09 Sep 2019 | 2019 Showcase: Harper Rose & the Women on the Wall | 00:34:40
This is Elle Elsea, writer, narrator and producer of Harper Rose and the Women on the Wall. For this story I tried to picture what a world after global warming would look like, and the research I did is woven into the Gospels of Gara, which are meant to stop global warming from happening a second time. I don’t believe humans would go entirely extinct, and so in this story, which is set a thousand years in the future, humans are still around. But they are living in a society that, while it’s very similar to ours, still has marked differences, including laws that everyone has to follow that come from the gospel. Our protagonist is a young woman who worked as a deputy in a small outpost and was chosen to take over as Sheriff when the old sheriff died. This is episode one, when she finds out that she was assigned to the most famous sheriff in the entire united cities of America. Thank you for listening. https://www.buzzsprout.com/295499
19 Sep 2023 | 2023 Showcase: The Godfrey Audio Guide | 00:13:58
"Hi, this is Nicole Knudsen, creator and narrator of The Godfrey Audio Guide! This show is the audio tour for the fictional Annabelle H. Godfrey Historic Estate and Museum. Think a fine art museum meets the Winchester Mystery House. It’s a show that blends horror, sci-fi, and art history (both real and imagined), and while there is continuity within the show, most episodes are self-contained and can stand on their own. This is Episode 46 - “Observations & Accidents”, which follows the usual episode format of two featured art pieces with a museum announcement in between them. As a note: the tone of this show can vary widely between episodes, and even within the episodes themselves. Such is the case with Episode 46. Bearing that in mind, please be aware that the third and final section of this episode is rooted firmly in horror, and features the sound and description of a car crash. And…I think that’s everything you need to get started! Thanks for listening!" 01 Oct 2020 | 2020 Showcase: Quest Friends! | 00:25:05
Hi! I'm Kyle Decker, the Game Master and editor of Quest Friends! Quest Friends! is a role-playing podcast where my best friends and I explore friendship, family, and that weird space in-between. It's one billion years in the future, and between dealing with vengeful stage magicians, deadly game shows, and a horrible Hamilton parody, our heroes have to unpack their own emotional baggage and learn what it means to move on. What you're about to listen to is the first half of Episode 64: One Neon Night, Part 6. But don't worry about all those numbers. What you need to know about this episode is that it revolves around the Apocrita, a terrifying cloud of spiders that consumes the memories of its victims and uses those memories to make obsidian glass soldiers. Many many years before our main story takes place, a floating kingdom of stone robots called Prylima developed a weapon to stop this cloud. It didn't quite work, and for the longest time that's all we knew about Prylima. Until this episode, where Tom, Hallie, and myself slipped into the shoes of two new characters and explored what it's like to share one last day before the end of the world. Thank you for listening. 04 Oct 2022 | 2022 Showcase: The Hell Spawn's Guide to Success | 00:12:12
Hey there! This is Brett Hund, the producer, writer, and performer on “The Hell Spawn’s guide to success” which is a horror/dark comedy that takes place in a world turned hellscape, but instead of following the protagonist of the story, we follow Jeff, a low-level accountant turned low-level pawn in this new army of darkness. Confused and upset about his new position, he goes out searching for answers and maybe, accidentally, some power to rise above his station along the way. This podcast is a passion project of mine based off of my love of audio dramas when I was a kid and watching horror movies growing up. This was also a challenge to myself where I wanted to see if I could write the script, write the music, play all the characters, make the dialogue flow smoothly, and differentiate each character with their own personality. Thank you for taking the time to listen and I hope you enjoy! No transcript available. https://thehellspawnsguidetosuccess.wordpress.com/
13 Sep 2021 | 2021 Showcase: Dice Will Roll | 02:34:15
Hello everyone! This is Derry, your gendernoncomformiest game master on Dice Will Roll, the Gayest Pathfinder Podcast on the Planet where we ask the Hard Questions like... is it morally acceptable to kiss a goblin? This is Episode 25 of Extinction Curse, our second campaign following a traveling circus unraveling the conspiracies of an underground dinosaur cult with goals that threaten the very world! In this episode, our heroes— Royari San Sarnax, a daring swordfighter, Eriato Bati, a half-demon, half-hag sorcerer and Volio Via, an aasimar-elf barbarian-witch clown with a Furby snake familiar— are finally facing off against Mistress Dusklight, a cruel catfolk ringmaster who once employed our heroes and is out for revenge by making them duel to the death in the big top. Our heroes have to save their kidnapped friend, protect their newfound paladin ally who was being manipulated by her and put an end to Dusklight's reign of terror once and for all. It's a big episode with tense scenes, huge fights and plenty of big, silly explosions, but it's also one that drives home the message of Dice Will Roll: that fantasy tales are a place where we, our characters and our listeners can be proud to be ourselves without trying to blend in with the rest of the world. We hope you enjoy, and keep it rolling! Transcript not available. https://www.dicewillroll.com/ Twitter: @dicewillroll

This is Edward Einhorn, the writer and director for The Resistible Rise of JR Brinkley. In Kansas in the 1920’s, J. R. Brinkley had a dream: to cure impotence by surgically inserting goat testicles into humans. It made him millions, even in the heart of the Depression. Brinkley expanded his reach by becoming a radio star, providing America with country music, infomercials, and conservative talk radio. Then he turned his attention to politics. A true story in four parts, told with country music, and brought to you by the performers of Untitled Theater Company No. 61 in New York. Hosted by Dan Butler, who starred in TV’s Frasier as the sports radio personality, Bulldog. This is Part 2, in which Brinkley decides to run for governor of Kansas. 03 Oct 2020 | 2020 Showcase: At the Table: A Play Reading Series | 00:16:07
Hi, this is Ned Donovan, producer, co-host, and editor of At the Table: A Play Reading Series, a podcast that produces new plays from emerging playwrights as audio dramas with Broadway and other professional stage actors. You're listening to an episode from our second season. We revived this show from an indefinite hiatus at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. We felt that at a time where theatre was shuttering worldwide It was important now more than ever to be producing new plays with wonderful actors and making sure that theatre continues to be produced even despite these trying times. We've picked this play for the audio verse showcase because Michael Kostroff, lead actor in the show is nominated, and we also felt that it's a perfect showcase of a simple story told beautifully. Actors Michael Kostroff and Sherri Edelen are in this two hander by Clare Bierman that allows you to really hear the gorgeous nature of theatre when everything is stripped away from the words and performed stunningly. We will be returning for a third season in the not too distant future. But in the meantime, please enjoy The Very Furious Kugel by Clare Biermann starring Michael Kostroff and Sherri Edelen. Thank you for listening. And please continue to support theatre, which is going through the hardest times that it has in recent memory. Support your local theaters, support your local artists, and everyone please be well, be safe, and be kind. 11 Oct 2020 | 2020 Showcase: Cryptids | 00:20:37
Hi. My name is Gina Zdanowicz, sound designer of Cryptids. Cryptids is a sci-fi mystery podcast that follows Eve and Trevor in the search of truth and purpose in death. Soon, they find The Ones in Charge have other plans for them. In the episode we're showcasing is the first in which we introduce our main character as well as The Ones in Charge. They're the mysterious cosmic beings watching over Eve and Trevor. We wanted the sounds of electricity to be omnipresent in the sound design. It was important for us to create a constant energy and make it feel as if the characters were never in a quiet place alone. I'd like to highlight some design choices in creating the constant energy. I used the sound sources from taking a cello bow to cactus. And that created the energy in the transitions. Then these sources ran through an effects processing chain that consisted of auto-panning, tremolo, grain, pitch, and distortion. And the result was this radiowave-type effect used to transport the listener from one scene to the next. Additionally, sound recordings from everyday objects - such as heating and cooling systems, refrigerators, coffee makers - they were spatially positioned in the mix. And these elements represented the - an object from the space in a particular scene or setting. And that drove home the feeling of the character not being alone in that space. So thank you for nominating me for this Audio Verse Award. And thank you for listening Transcript can be found at: https://www.cryptidspodcast.com/transcripts/ https://www.cryptidspodcast.com/ Twitter: @CryptidsPodcast

29 Sep 2023 | 2023 Showcase: Listening Pond: Stories for Kids and their Adults | 00:33:01
Hello! This is Eryn and I’m one of the three co-creators of Listening Pond: Stories for Kids and their Adults. My cousin Asa and I take turns writing and narrating the stories, and my brother Eric composes an original soundtrack for each story. Asa also creates an illustration for each piece, which we feature on our social media accounts. While our primary goal is to entertain kids and adults of all ages, we also like the idea of putting something positive into the world, so many of our stories address challenges kids face every day – confronting fear, embracing and celebrating difference, and managing jealousy to name a few. This sample episode is my version of a fairy tale, entitled “The Milkshake Trap” – and without giving anything away, I can tell you that I think this story, as my six-year old son says in the intro, will be BIG fun. Thank you so much for listening, and we hope you enjoy the show! 19 Sep 2023 | 2023 Showcase: When Tower Angels Fall | 00:41:56
"This is Elizabeth Plant - writer, director and audio engineer of When Tower Angels Fall; a dark sci-fi drama about finding purpose after the end of the world came and went. Told half in the past, half in the present, the show comes with a healthy dose of angst, found family and biblically accurate angels. This is Episode 3, titled “Styx and Stones.” It delves into the shared history of the callous Fionn and jaded Pom, who have both been shaken by the arrival of two new members to the oil rig they inhabit, which they and the other survivors thought till now unfindable. In the previous episode, Pom attempted to seduce one arrival, and stole a priceless sentimental item of the other upon failing. Ophelia, almost entirely nonverbal, flies into a panic to find it. Across the sea, in an ominous and all-powerful Institute, senior investigator Moltenore works with her subordinate, Emmens, to locate the oil rig and its inhabitants – by any means necessary. She routinely tortures Eden, a captive from the rig, with a white light known only as The Beacon – which agonisingly changes all who look upon it forever. Eden has come to believe it is an angel. 28 Sep 2022 | 2022 Showcase: It Makes A Sound | 00:27:52
Hi, this is Jacquelyn Landgraf, writer, director, and producer of It Makes A Sound, a fiction podcast with music. The show, to me, is a tribute to the caretakers among us and within us, and it’s about how to transcend solitude and loss with a jolt of whimsy, faith, and rock and roll. Season one followed Deirdre Gardner’s incredible discovery of a lost cassette tape from 1992 in a dusty attic, and her quest to wake up her decrepit hometown of Rosemary Hills Golf Course Community to all that’s been forgotten. We learn that Deirdre’s tenacity to resurrect the songs of the mysterious former resident Wim Faros is fueled by her grief over her mother’s advancing dementia. When the cassette tape gets destroyed completely by a faulty boombox, a motley crew of neighbors try to help Deirdre re-create the music on the Attic Tape, entirely from memory. Before they know it, Deirdre and her mother are fronting a wildly avant-garde, multi-generational band, whose songs accidentally go viral. In Season 2, things have taken a turn for the worse–the town of Rosemary Hills is in foreclosure and Deirdre is now struggling to care for her mother in a nursing home. But as the golf course festers in its 11th hour, mysterious messages begin to appear, insisting that "Wim Faros Lives." As things fall apart around her, Deirdre must reckon with the fact that her public plea to get people to remember Wim Faros has inadvertently created a cult sensation. This is season 2 episode 4, entitled “Old Folx.” We are together in the rec room of Rosemary Hills Nursing Home, where a nurse is leading a game of Bingo. Deirdre, her ten year old neighbor Cody Elwood, and Phil, who’s grandma also lives here, are playing along with the residents, while Deirdre’s mother Emma chats with a new friend, Park Song, a former golf champion and local legend in her own right. Emma Gardner, in the confusion of her illness, has for some time now been calling herself Deirdre, believing that she is a young version of her daughter, and that the shy and sensitive Phil is a teenage Wim Faros. Ok, I think that’s all you need to know. Thank you for visiting Rosemary Hills! Get your Bingo card ready. 13 Sep 2021 | 2021 Showcase: The Realm Tree | 00:20:42
This is Julian Hermano, co-creator of new audio series The Realm Tree. A story of how fairies get their wings. This is an audio series featuring actors from Avatar: The Last Airbender, Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Genshin Impact, and more. At the time of submission, 13 episodes of our 30 episode season are available on podcasting platforms. The tale takes place in Al’Idria, a fairy world consisting of six Realms surrounding the Realm Tree; a tree that stretches up to the sky. At the age of sixteen, fairies ascend through the trunk to earn their wings. Those who fail to reach the canopy remain wingless for life. For some, the stakes could not be higher. Our story follows the scrappy and determined Night Fairy Talia Wick, the only fairy in history that was born without magic in her body. On her journey up through the Realm Tree to earn her wings and prove herself as a fairy without powers, Talia may discover that there’s magic in the world beyond what fairies are born with. This is Episode 2: Thinning the Herd. Talia and her best friend Daisy begin their first trial: one-on-one battles to determine which fairies are worthy of climbing the Realm Tree at all, and start to scope out the competition during these duels. Our audio show uses both dialogue and narration to bring this tale to life, including narrated and intense combat scenes with sound effects and original music. We believe this is a good episode to showcase that style. We hope you enjoy. And, thank you for listening. 03 Oct 2020 | 2020 Showcase: Multiclass Theater | 01:06:50
Hey everybody! I am Diana Dely, the Dungeon Mistress, and Executive Producer, of Multiclass Theater. We are so honored to be nominated for the Audio Verse Awards. We are a brand new, actual play, Dungeons and Dragons podcast. We are about midway through our second season now. We started in October of last year and have been going strong ever since. The show itself is an improvised adventure which follows a noble knight, a rebellious teenage girl, and a snarky six foot tall cat as they adventure around a homebrewed world and find adventure and hopefully learn a few things along the way. The episode we have for you today is Season 2 Episode 4, or as we call it Season 2 Chapter 4: "What's in a Name?" This episode was released on July 31 of this year. It has become a fan favorite. I think it illustrates our humor, our tone, and how we like to tell stories. It is actually the climax of a three-part adventure through a tower and you don't really need context other than to know the characters are exploring the tower of a dead wizard and were sent there to retrieve something from the top of it. It doesn't offer any spoilers for the overall story arc. It is really a stand-alone three part series. Again, this is Season 2 Chapter 4: "What's in a Name?" I hope you enjoy it, and if you do, please vote for us. Thank you so much! http://multiclasstheater.com Twitter: @mctpod
