29 Mar 2016A Discussion About Astrology with Sean Kelley00:56:56
Aired Monday, 28 March 2016, 9:00 PM ET

On Monday, March 28th, join host and astrologer, Kelli Fox on The Astrology Show. Kelli will be joined by special guest and astrology enthusiast, Sean Kelley. Together, they will discuss astrology, what it is and why it is so important too so many people across the world.

To understand astrology, you must know that it doesn’t work like a psychic, who predicts your future. Astrology is an invaluable guide that helps in making life choices. It points out tendencies and truths about human nature, not to mention the world at large. It gives you the tools you need to make better, more intelligent and informed decisions in your life. For example, if you have a lot of planets in Aries in your birth chart, you’ll know that you tend to be rather headstrong and impulsive, jumping into things without much forethought! With astrology’s help, you can learn to slow down a bit and look before you leap.

Anyone can gain greater personal understanding from astrology, even without knowing exactly how it works. After all, why the movement of the stars is related to life on Earth may be an intriguing and mysterious question, but we know that it is, indeed, related — astrology affects our lives just as the moon pulls on the tides and just as the light of the sun enables all life on Earth to grow. As the sun enriches the Earth, astrology can enrich your life. The more you learn, the better you’ll be able to apply its wisdom to your own life.

So tune in to find out more about to apply this invaluable tool to your life.

An Overview of Astrology

Astrology has a fascinating history. The earliest recorded interpretations of astrology were found on from 1645-1625 BC. The earliest known horoscope dates back to 410 BC.

Anyone can gain greater personal understanding with astrology since it affects our lives just as the moon influences the tides. Astrology provides you tools that can help you make the best and most informed decisions. It is like a map for your soul that provides you with insights into the future, and reveals the tendencies, quirks, and truth about human nature, relationships, career choices and the world at large. Astrology may be used as a guide for daily living, as well as for forecasting and predictions.

Astrology is a complex system that dates back to the third Millennium B.C. It is based on celestial observations and correlating events. Astrology helped lay the foundation for the development of astronomy. It has influenced belief systems and even entire cultures. The many components of astrology, such as signs, planets and aspects, are what make it a complex system. It can be rather confusing until you begin to understand the basics. The many components are considered when forming accurate readings of astrological transitions and how they relate to each individual. The more you learn, the better you’ll be able to apply astrology’s wisdom to your own life.

For starters, your birth chart is created for the precise moment that you were born. At that time, each planet (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto), the Sun and the Moon were in measurable positions in the sky that is unique to your individual birth chart. Your birth chart reveals important insights about your personality, career choices, romantic potential, and much more.

Astrology: The Basics

This show is about the basics of astrology. The signs and their classifications. The twelve signs of the zodiac are divided into groups. There’s the elements such as fire, earth, air and water. The second group is are the modalities or qualities and they are cardinal, fixed and mutable.

The position of each planet in the twelve signs of the Zodiac reveals to astrologers the tone of each planet’s specific energy, and the effect of that placement in your chart. The ways in which planets interact with each other also reveal important influences. With a little help from the Zodiac, you can gain insight into your individual astrological characteristics and influences. For example, if you have a lot of Sagittarius in your birth chart, you’ll know that you are an outspoken trailblazer that needs a lot of freedom. However, if you have a lot of Cancer in your birth chart, you may be intuitive and shy, and can also be talkative and family oriented.

There are twelve Houses that correlate with the twelve Signs. Each Sign and House is ruled by a planet, the Sun, or the Moon. For instance, Libra is the second sign which is ruled by Venus, and Venus also rules the second House. The Signs represent the individual qualities and characteristics of a person, while Houses represent the qualities and characteristics of the environment in which a planet resides, transits or aspects.

‘Hey baby, what’s your sign?’

It might be the cheesiest pickup line in history, but if you know their Sun sign, you can find out a lot about how the two of you will match up. Will you get along like two peas in a pod, or go at it like Siamese fighting fish? Can you expect long conversations or awkward silences; a meeting of the minds or absolutely nothing in common?

When it comes down to it, we’re all seeking the same thing in love: “The One” — that special person whose personality, interests, values and goals mesh so well with our own that it feels as if we’re a perfect fit, as if we’ve known and loved one another for eons. Here’s a secret from the Zodiac: There is a way to know early on whether your relationship stands a solid chance of becoming that rare, special connection you’re hoping for.

Each Sun sign, from Aries through Pisces, is associated with a certain astrological element — Fire, Earth, Air or Water — that lends the sign particular qualities. It all comes down to the heated passions of Fire, the grounded stability of Earth, the clever intellect of Air, or the emotional depths of Water — and how any two given elements mix in love.

When two people become romantically involved, their elements can either blend well together or clash against each other, causing tension and discord. To find out whether you and your sweetheart could be soul mates tune in on Monday, July 25th and find out more…

This Solar Eclipse in Pisces will occur above Australia and across the Pacific Ocean. A total Solar Eclipse is the most dramatic of all the eclipses as it will block the light of the Sun completely, if only for a few minutes.

Aired Monday, 3 October 2016, 9:00 PM ET

“Hey, baby, what’s your sign?” It might be simultaneously the most famous and the cheesiest pick-up line in history, but there’s actually some serious truth behind it: Astrology can reveal fascinating insights into how you and that special someone match up in a romantic relationship.

Do you get along like two peas in a pod, or do you go at it like Siamese fighting fish? Do you enjoy long, flowing conversations, or do you suffer together through one awkward silence after another? Are you destined to make a meeting of the minds, or do you just have absolutely nothing in common?

Of course, the truth is that your Sun Signs are just a starting point. When you make a love connection, there’s a whole lot more to it than that. It’s all in how each of the planets in your astrological chart interacts with each of theirs. Your planetary connections, and any lack thereof, can help you find out whether this person is a good bet for some fun dates or even a quick fling — or if they could actually turn out to be marriage material.

But Sun Sign compatibility gives you a secret weapon — personal insight that can let you know what to expect or validate what you already know. It bears repeating that we’re all complex beings, and each of us is far more than just our Sun Sign. But if you’d like to know just what makes that special someone tick, you’ve got to start somewhere, and Sun Sign compatibility is the perfect place to begin.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? The New Moon in Taurus slows down your energy level as you mull over more practical concerns of living and life. This earthy moon propels you to work hard but at the end of the day, still wants you to take it easy and enjoy some of your hard earned cash.

Make a list of items that you need to feel secure. If some of those items on the list are beyond your means, you may consider what you need to curb or grow in order to get the things you deserve. Might that be taking a second job or making some minor investments?

Your thoughts may also meander to your finances. You may want to think over how you can restructure your budget. Brainstorm ways to increase your cash flow so that you can indulge in occasional luxuries without having to raid your savings.

This is an opportune time to start testing new monetary strategies. In terms of romance, this sensual lunar influence is great for experimenting with touch, taste, and sound; anything that arouses the senses. Try new lovemaking techniques on your sweetheart. You’ll surely have a grand time testing things out!

Also this week, the Sun makes some upbeat, positive aspects to some of the heavy hitting outer planets. The theme of money, possessions and self-worth continues with these planetary influences. Find out how to make the most of the planets this week.

The Planets this Week: April 16 - 22, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week? The headline of the week is the Sun moving into Taurus on Wednesday where it will be until May 20th. Under the influence of the Taurus Sun, and depending on its transits to planets in your natal chart, you may find yourself slowing down and taking time to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Creature comforts become more of a priority, and you’re tuned into the sensual side of life. Gardening, spending time in nature, and nurturing your body with loving care are some possible expressions.

On Thursday, Mercury moves into Aries so your mind could be functioning at top speed and in short bursts of activity. You might not have a lot of patience to focus on one idea for too long, instead burning through one thought quickly and moving on to the next. Instead of weighing all the pros and cons of a situation, you may tend to make snap judgments based more on instinct than logic.

Also on Thursday, Pluto turns retrograde until September 28th. Occasionally the Pluto retrograde period is characterized by painful loss, or events and circumstances in your life that are far beyond your control. In many ways, Pluto represents factors that are much larger than any individual; it is the planet of human evolution, after all, and that trumps any single person. But for most of us, most of the time, Pluto retrograde periods offer us the chance to delve deeply into our own inner resources and determine what is most important, when all is said and done.

Finally, on Friday, Mars moves into Gemini where it will be until June 4th. During this time you could find yourself rather high-strung and have a lot of nervous energy. You could also have real trouble sitting still for long periods of time, which could lead to problems in school and on the job because you seem restless and bored (and maybe you are!).

Tune in for more on Monday 6pm PT/9pm ET.

The Planets this Week: April 2 - 8, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

The astro headline of the week is love planet Venus moves backwards into Pisces where it will be until April 28th. During this time you may feel sweeter than sugar and softer than a pillow. You may find yourself acting like an incurable romantic, living in your own little dream world, at least as much as the cruel world will permit. You could be very detached from the reality you usually experience but you may be incredibly creative and open to inspiration. In fact, developing creativity and artistry will give you a great deal of satisfaction during this time. Let that motivate you but remember, this influence is retrograde so we may be redoing something from the past or completing a relationship from the past.

Also this week, Saturn, planet of karma, responsibility and restriction turns retrograde in Sagittarius until August 25th. Saturn already has the reputation of being a downer. How could four-and-a-half months of Saturn Retrograde possibly be a positive thing? Well, easily. Instead of getting more serious, folks back off a little bit. It’s a time to take a little breather from the usual breakneck pace that most people keep these days. Don’t worry, you’ll still get plenty of work done; it’s not like Saturn changes personality during this period. It’s just that the sense of urgency and anxiety relaxes somewhat. Doesn’t that sound like a relief?

But, Saturn is not well placed in Sagittarius. These two energies are fundamentally at odds with one another, with Saturn’s emphasis on restriction and responsibility against the freedom-loving, expansive, restless vibe of Sagittarius. Saturn will remain in Sagittarius until December 2017. Between now and December 2017, we’re likely to see an increasing focus on the world affairs governed by Sagittarius, such as religion, publishing and higher education.

The Planets this Week: April 23 – 29, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

On Friday, love planet moves into Aries where it will be until June 6th. While Venus is in Aries, and depending on how this influence affects your birth chart, your love life could be quite exciting! You might find yourself being bolder than usual, taking risks and acting on your ardent impulses. Romance can be steamy and you’re open to experimentation — just watch out for getting carried away by your passions and be sure to take care of yourself.

If you’re single, this is an ideal transit for initiating new relationships, and you’ve got the confidence to go after what you want. Of course, what you want could change from moment to moment. The hunt might be what thrills you most right now, while the everyday work of relationship could feel stifling. If you’re in a partnership, break up familiar routines with an infusion of novelty — surprise your sweetie by taking him or her on an unexpected outing, wearing a sexy new outfit, or trying an innovative approach to lovemaking.

Also this week, we have a New Moon in Taurus. The Taurus New Moon slows down your energy level as you mull over more practical concerns of living and life. This earthy moon propels you to work hard but at the end of the day, still wants you to take it easy and enjoy some of your hard earned cash. Make a list of items that you need to feel secure. The Planets this Week: April 9 - 15, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

The big news of the week is Mercury and Venus are changing direction! Mercury is turning retrograde and Venus will be moving forward again! Mercury Retrograde is a phenomenon that has worked its way into mass consciousness. The moment a communication snafu occurs, folks blame Mercury Retrograde! The truth is, not all miscommunications can be laid at the feet of this little planet. But it does behoove us to observe a few simple principles about this event.

Mercury appears to turn backward in its path around the Zodiac three times every year, for about twenty-one or twenty-two days at a time. So every four months, you get a three-week pause in which to catch up on old correspondence, read the book that’s been sitting on your nightstand and make phone calls to friends and family.

Also, love planet Venus will finally moves forward again. It has been retrograde since March 4th. Venus is our next-door neighbor here in the solar system, and therefore it is retrograde the least amount of time of all the planets — only once every 18 months, for about 6 weeks at a time. That amounts to about seven percent of the time, total.

When Venus, the Planet of Love, goes retrograde, it’s no surprise that relationship issues come right to the surface. Things you (or your lover!) have simply been tolerating all of a sudden become intolerable. One or both of you may say or do things that you otherwise wouldn’t. Some folks have been known to make sudden, unilateral relationship moves when Venus was retrograde.

The Planets this Week: August 20 - 26, 2017

The astro headline of the week, month and year is the total Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 21st. Everybody from coast-to-coast is a buzz with this rare event. The last time we had a total Solar Eclipse across the USA was nearly 100 years ago. People from all over the country are ready to view this occurrence.

A solar eclipse can only occur during a New Moon, when the Moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun to create a ‘Moon sandwich’ effect that gives the visual illusion of an eclipse.

There are four types of eclipses that can be seen from Earth. The most dramatic is a ‘total eclipse,’ which happens when the Sun is completely superimposed by the disc of the Moon, leaving only a bright corona shining behind the Moon. In order to see a total eclipse, you must be in the direct path of the Sun-and-Moon alignment. An ‘annular eclipse,’ in which the Sun and Moon are exactly in line but the Moon is smaller than the Sun, shows a bright ring surrounding the outline of the Moon. A ‘hybrid eclipse’ is in between a total and annular eclipse. At some points on the Earth it appears as a total eclipse, but at other locations, it appears to be annular. A ‘partial eclipse’ occurs when the Sun and Moon are not exactly in line, and the Moon only partially obscures the Sun. The Sun looks like a bite has been taken out of it.

Solar eclipses last only a few minutes and should always be viewed with protective glasses. Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye, because eye damage may result — and quickly! Since Earthlings are dependent on the Sun’s rays for light, warmth and agriculture, it’s no wonder that common folk have historically feared eclipses, when the Sun appears to be eaten up by an invisible, but incredibly powerful, mysterious being.

The Sun moves into Virgo on Monday 22nd and you could find yourself working hard to improve yourself and serve others. You might become more critical, and possibly judgmental, as you notice all the things that could be better, both in your own life and in the world. You have a strong desire to make a positive difference, and are willing to dig in and get busy to make it happen.

Watch out for being too hard on yourself, or on your loved ones. The desire for perfection can be a great motivator, but if your standards are too high, you could be prone to disappointment and disillusion. You might become aware that you need to improve your skills to accomplish your goals. Don’t be too proud to ask for the help you need to polish and perfect your talents. This can be a great period for finding a mentor and undergoing some kind of apprenticeship.

Health and self-care come into focus, and you might pay more attention to your daily routines and habits. What’s not working about your schedule will become apparent, and you’ll have more motivation than usual to make positive changes that increase your overall well-being. Your system — especially digestion — could be extra-sensitive, and a simple, wholesome diet will probably serve you best.

To counter the tendency to be hyper-critical, make a point of appreciating the little things in life, and “find God” in the details of your daily existence. Washing the dishes can be an irksome chore or a mind-expanding meditation, depending on your attitude.

It’s a busy astrological week! The big news is the Solar Eclipse on Thursday which presents an opportune time for big new starts and beginnings over the coming months. There may be a feeling or a desire brewing within for some sort of change. This is a time for planting seeds, for birthing new ideas and starting afresh.

Creatively speaking, inspiration can be residing somewhere just beneath the surface, barely breaking into conscious thought. Give yourself ample space to listen to the little voice inside you. Evaluate the various areas in your life that you would like to make changes in or put energy into.

Also this week, love planet moves into Libra so your social life could be in full swing over the next few weeks. Gracious manners come naturally and our charms are irresistible. Many of us will easily attract friends and lovers and may find ourselves to be quite popular, with social calendars booked solid.

We might also go out of our way to avoid conflict or confrontation during this transit, smoothing over differences of opinion to keep the peace – even if that means sacrificing our own needs or desires.

Tuesday, Mercury turns retrograde in Virgo. This influence may generate some frustration as we charitably give our support and assistance to others in need. Although we may see a lot of obvious solutions that could elude other minds, our insistence to help save the day may be misinterpreted and resented by the recipients.

The Planets this Week: August 6 - 12, 2017

The headline of the week, the month and the year is the Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius on Monday. A lunar eclipse can have an impact on our emotional state and often affects relationships with others. The way you respond to crises may need adjustment when circumstances warrant a new approach. You may feel disoriented, excitable or emotionally wired during a lunar eclipse.

During this Lunar Eclipse in Leo our creative endeavors really begin to take shape. Our mood is uplifted with Leo’s jovial spirit. Feeling particularly passionate about experiencing life to the fullest, you have full appreciation for the splendors of the natural world. Colors may seem brighter, people friendlier; playtime and leisure activities are highlighted. A love affair that began at an earlier time may be progressing to another level. You should begin to get a clearer picture of what may be possible between the two of you. Try to enjoy the time that you have together right now.

The other big news of the week is Mercury turning retrograde. Yes, here it is again the planet of communication wrecking havoc!

Everyone knows that Mercury Retrograde is a great time to do things that start with ‘re’: repair, reduce, reconsider, recreate. But what else can you do to bring out the best energy of this period? Certainly, thoughts turn more inward than outward, so taking care of personal affairs is a great idea.

What do the planets have in store for you this week? The planetary influence this week is a Full Moon in Gemini which is forming a Grand Trine with Mars and Jupiter as well as trines to the Sun from Saturn and Uranus.

During the Gemini Full Moon, you may be pleasantly surprised by the progress you are making with the project you initiated during the New Moon. Additional insights can make your endeavor seem even more worthwhile, once you incorporate them. You’ll have a sense of accomplishment once you are able to share what you’ve learned with others. No doubt, people will be impressed by what you tell them. Your quest for knowledge can be personally fulfilling once the answers come to you, and you get a chance to show off just a little.

You can be rather talkative and very social, full of wit and charm. Make sure that you spend time in the company of others, for your astute opinions should not go unexpressed. You appreciate your independence more fully during this time.

It would be better to schedule activities with friends instead of romantic dates because you may not feel particularly open to the burdens that love relationships can sometimes entail. You may feel the most happy with an excellent book in front of your face. You may also take this time to consider ways to rein in runaway thoughts and nervous tension if you are prone to them. Give up a bad mental habit as the moon begins to wane.

The Planets this week. What do the planets have in store for you this week? We have a busy week! The astro headline is that on Monday, Mercury will turn retrograde and warrior planet Mars moves into Pisces. On Wednesday the Sun moves into Capricorn which coincides with the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. On Saturday we have an unusual Saturn trine Uranus aspect which means the old guard and the new are aligned.

Communication planet Mercury will be retrograde until January 8. It is a phenomenon that has worked its way into mass consciousness. The moment a communication snafu occurs, folks blame Mercury Retrograde! Everyone knows that Mercury Retrograde is a great time to do things that start with ‘re’: repair, reduce, reconsider, recreate.

If you can avoid signing a contract during Mercury Retrograde, fine. If not, go through it carefully a couple of times and get help if you need it. Try not to buy electronic equipment during this period, or travel, because delays and snafus seem to abound.

Warrior planet Mars moves into Pisces where it will stay until January 27th. Under this influence we could be more sensitive than we realize, and many of us may notice that our physical energy has higher peaks and lower valleys than usual. Napping will be a very good thing to do and we may need more sleep than we normally do.

While the Sun is in Capricorn we may feel driven to succeed. We may work long hours to achieve our goals and bring long-term projects to completion. There might not be much time for a personal life. We should try not to sacrifice too much and make sure that what we’re working for is our own definition of success, and not someone else’s.

Get ready for quite the exciting year! 2017 promises pizzazz for every sign in the zodiac. This will be part one of a two part series. In this show, Astrologer and host Kelli Fox will give and overview of the year ahead. In next week’s show she will explain what each sign can expect from 2017.

The fun starts February 10, when a Lunar Eclipse illuminates ardent Leo. Say yes to that glam party or outing—it could kick off social whirlwind. You might also focus more on intimate matters, including your love life or a creative pursuit that’s close to your heart. Two weeks later, on February 26, a Solar Eclipse energizes psychic Pisces. If your gut is communicating something, listen up. The best decisions will be based on intuition. Sticking stubbornly to conventional wisdom could make you miss an important opportunity.

The next eclipses occur in August, the first a Lunar Eclipse on the 7th in unique Aquarius. You might reconnect with a group of old friends or rock a team project. Two weeks later on August 21, the Solar Eclipse in affectionate Leo could bring a pregnancy or engagement announcement. Time to celebrate!

Mercury, the planet of communication, will be retrograde four times in 2017. Mercury Retrograde periods can be a bummer. The first phase ends January 8, concluding the period that began in December 2016; the second is from April 9 through May 3; the third runs from August 12 until September 5; and the final phase is December 2 until the 22nd. Interrupted plans and communication snags are inevitable, so keep your cool.

Venus, the planet of love, will also be retrograde between March 4 and April 15. For anyone going through a tough time with their sweetheart, this is a great time to listen closely to your partner and offer more caring support. Of course, it takes two to tango. To make the most of this harmonious energy, both partners have to be fully committed to a kinder and gentler relationship.

What do the planets have in store for you this week? It’s a fairly quiet week, astrologically speaking. Love planet Venus moves into Aquarius where it will stay until January 2nd.

During this time, and depending on how this ingress aspects your natal planets, you may develop a wide array of interests and a broad variety of friends. In fact, all those friends will be one of the keys to your enjoyment of life during this period. Frequent lunch dates and phone calls will keep you connected, and when you’re connected, you’ll be happy.

If you’re establishing a relationship under this transit, you’ll do so on a mental level first. That will be the most important area of contact. Romantic partners may start off as friends, and you’ll probably remain friends even if the romantic nature of your relationship changes. This may come as a surprise to many, but you’ll be able to detach from relationships quite easily at this time.

In fact, you could have a hard time understanding people with lots of emotional baggage. Depending on how this transit aspects you personally, you may find once you’re done with a person, whatever the reason, you simply wash your hands of them. Cutting old connections and keeping your boundaries clear and firm will be very healthy during this time.

The Planets this Week: February 12 - 18, 2017

Find out what’s in store with the planets this week. We have a fairly quiet week, astrologically speaking. The headline of the week is the Sun moving into Pisces on Saturday where it will stay until March 20th.

During the Sun’s transit in Pisces, and depending on how it affects your birth chart, you may find yourself longing to escape from your everyday reality. You’re more sensitive now, and might feel overwhelmed by the people and responsibilities of daily life. You may also feel a longing to connect more with your inner world and spiritual life, rather than paying so much attention to the material world.

Look for positive ways to transcend the ordinary, like creative expression, meditation, yoga and other spiritual practices. This could be a great time to go on a retreat, or otherwise withdraw from socializing and busyness. If you don’t have a positive outlet for escape, you might be tempted to fall into the more negative expression of Pisces and be prone to addictions, illusions or avoidance.

Your imagination is strong now, and can be put to use in making music, painting, dancing, or writing poetry or fiction. You could also let yourself simply daydream about your future, and come up with a new vision for your ideal life. Dreams may be more active than usual, and paying attention to messages from your dreams can reveal profound guidance from your subconscious.

You could be a real softie now, easily brought to tears by a sad movie or even a sentimental TV commercial. Honor your increased sensitivity by purifying your body, your environment and your relationships. Take extra alone time to rest and recover when it all feels like too much.

The Planets this Week: February 26 - March 4, 2017

We have an intense and busy week! The astrological headline of the week is the Solar Eclipse in Pisces on Sunday.

This influence helps you to better understand the alliances between people rather than the differences. Consider your personal boundaries and how that has kept you from truly connecting with others on a more meaningful level. How open are you? How in touch are you with your feelings? Can you offer more compassion to make this world a harmonious place to live in?

You may begin to realize that there are universal truths among humans no matter what race, status, gender, age, or education level. Consider how you can make changes on a more personal level, offering not only your knowledge, but also your heart to those in most need.

After all, society can’t truly change if the people within it still suffer emotionally. Look at the relationships you have with others. Check your feelings and see where you are blocked. Get in touch with your innermost self, minus the barriers. Evolve your soul by emphasizing the similarities you have with other people. Worry less about the differences. You may be surprised to find that a kind gesture or a hug can have strong reverberations.

Also this week, Mercury moves into Pisces so our intuitive powers are strong, while our rational mind might be on hiatus. Many of us will be in touch with the big picture and higher vision, but the details of daily life may escape us. Miscommunications and misunderstandings are possible, as we lose focus and it becomes more difficult to tell the difference between dreams and reality.

Finally this week, love planet Venus turns retrograde on Saturday through April 15th. During this period, your love life could be up, down and all over the place!

Find out what’s in store with the planets this week. The big news of the week is the Lunar Eclipse in Leo. During the Leo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, creative endeavors really begin to take shape. Many of us will have a receptive audience. Overall, people’s moods are uplifted with Leo’s jovial spirit. Feeling particularly passionate about experiencing life to the fullest, many of us will have a full appreciation for the splendors of the natural world.

On Sunday, Jupiter, planet of luck and good fortune turns retrograde. Jupiter has been travelling through Libra since September 2016, and its tour of this gentle sign will last over a year, until October 2017. Commonly referred to as the Planet of Luck, Jupiter is also called the Planet of Philosophy due to its intellectually explorative nature. Its yearlong transit through diplomatic Libra expands our natural curiosity about the world along with our interest in connecting with people of different cultures and philosophies.

On Tuesday, communication planet Mercury moves into Aquarius where it will stay until February 25th. While Mercury is in Aquarius, and depending on how this transit affects your natal chart, your brain could be buzzing with inventive ideas. You may find yourself thinking outside the box, with sudden flashes of inspiration that open your mind to unusual and unexpected possibilities. You might even have trouble sleeping at night as the mental gears tirelessly turn.

Also, this week, the brilliant Sun is forming positive aspects to both Uranus and Jupiter. People are more open-minded than usual, curious and interested in change and reform. Progress is highlighted and plans are made. Tolerance and generosity are at a peak now, so take advantage by donating time or money to a charitable organization of your choice.

Find out how the planets will be affecting you this week with your host and astrologer Kelli Fox. It’s a fairly quiet week, astrologically speaking. The Sun moves into Aquarius where it will stay until February 18th.

Under the influence of the Sun in Aquarius, and depending on how it interacts with the planets in your chart, you may find yourself wanting to be different from everyone else. While you might be drawn to social events and group activities, you’re not interested in fitting in, but in distinguishing yourself as an individual. You might be feeling rebellious, and longing to break free from old molds and others’ expectations.

Your attention turns toward the future — what’s your long-term vision? What are your hopes and wishes? Let yourself dream big, and be sure to attend events where you might meet people who can help you reach your goals. Networking is favorable for these four weeks, and the synchronicity factor — chance meetings with the right person at the right time — is heightened.

Getting involved in a group or organization that reflects your passions is another great way to make connections with helpful people. You could feel inspired to get involved in a volunteer project or humanitarian cause. Team projects, especially those that are working toward a higher ideal, are especially satisfying.

Aquarius is the sign of technology and innovation, and this is a time when you can find creative solutions to old problems. Your mind is super-strong now, but you might have a tendency to get overly attached to your ideas and opinions. If you can stay mentally flexible and open to other points of view, you can make better progress than by thinking you have all the answers.

Find out how the planets will be affecting you this week with your host and astrologer Kelli Fox. The astro headline of the week is Venus moving into Aries on Friday where it will be until April 2nd. It turns retrograde on March 4th and then finally direct April 15th.

You might find yourself wanting to assert your independence now, and getting in touch with your own needs and desires, separate from your partner. Clinginess is a definite turn-off. Giving yourself space to explore your passions is a way to recharge the vitality in your relationship.

Be aware of the tendency toward impulse spending under this transit — you want what you want when you want it! A little patience and prudence could be in order.

We have a very intense Full Moon in Cancer on Thursday. This is not an ordinarily intense Full Moon but a supercharged one! With Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto making challenging connections we had better hang onto our hats!

Usually during the Cancer Full Moon, you can develop a warmer, more loving spirit in your home and with people you’re close to. You may feel a sense of contentment with the quality of people you have in your life. With the t-square to Jupiter confidence, energy, bounce — these qualities are evident everywhere this week, probably to excess. In fact, the big problem is one of inflation. We just don’t know when enough is enough. Be very careful not to overeat, overreach or be too self-indulgent. The possibility is high that lots of folks will take on too many projects or too much work, in a brief moment of I-can-do-anything mentality.

The Full Moon also forms a tsquare to Uranus so there will be a strong, unpredictable energy. People will feel like doing what they want, and forget the consequences. Willful behavior is certain to be on display somewhere nearby. Defiance and indiscretion, too. Disruptions to the daily routine are likely and no one will have the patience to deal with them.

With the conjunction and opposition to Pluto this Full Moon promises complex power issues as long-hidden secrets and other information bubble to the surface. Our focus and passions are much more laser-like than usual. We go for the burn, but if we’re too dogmatic, forceful or stubborn, we can easily burn out. It’s so tempting to look around with a critical eye and see what everyone else is doing wrong, but remember, a person can only change themselves and no one else.

What do the planets have in store for this week? With both Mars and the Sun moving into Leo there is a lot of fiery action oriented energy at play. The Sun moves into its favorite sign of Leo on Saturday where it will be until August 22nd. Under the bright light of the Leo Sun, and depending on how it shines on other planets in your birth chart, you might find yourself longing for recognition. You now want to stand out and be seen and appreciated just for being your unique self. You may become more aware of what makes you special — your talents, personality, and past experience — and you want other people to notice too!

Leo rules the heart, and love is in the air. You might be more romantic than usual, surprising your sweetie with flowers or chocolates. You’ll certainly appreciate being showered with gifts yourself! Leo is the king or queen, and both giving and receiving the royal treatment are highly satisfying.

On Thursday, warrior planet Mars also moves into Leo where it will be until September 5th. Mars will be in Leo the entire time that the Sun is in Leo, creating a Leo double-whammy of positive cosmic energy. The Sun is the natural ruler of Leo, making all things Leo prominent, and Mars comes up, giving the Sun a boost up. Mars is the planet of action, the will to do, aggression, physical exertion, and the libido. Leo is a fixed fire sign, like a giant fire burning in hearth. Mars makes it bigger, brighter, and hotter.

This show is dedicated to all you Leo’s out there or anyone who has a Leo in their life!

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? There’s a Full Moon in Capricorn. During the Capricorn Full Moon, your inbox or voicemail may contain promising messages regarding a career opportunity, if that’s what you seek at this time. Your efforts during the past couple of weeks could generate the kind of response that you’ve been hoping for. Although there may not be a guarantee of a new position, getting feedback is always great for your self-esteem. If you’ve been questioning your recent decisions, you may become more certain by what the universe seems to be sending your way. Your hunches have gotten you this far in life. What do the planets have in store for us this week?

We have two planets changing signs. The first is love planet Venus moving into Gemini where it will be until July 31st. Venus leaves the sign of its natural rulership and enters Gemini. Gemini is the sign of communication, commutes, errands, siblings, and neighbors. Venus smooth over everything she touches. Any problems with communication, commutes, trips, and relationships with siblings and neighbors will be smooth sailing. People will be pleasant when they speak to each other, and you’ll be more polite overall, too. It just won’t feel good to be pushy, and frankly, you won’t want to use the energy to be assertive or aggressive.

Next up, communication planet Mercury moves into Leo where it will be until July 25th. While Mercury is in Leo, and depending on how this transit influences your birth chart, your mind may be filled with big ideas and grand plans. You’re less concerned about the details and more interested in the broader vision of what you want to create. Confidence in your own opinions is strong — maybe too strong! Watch out for arrogance or getting too wedded to being right.

This weekend we can expect an intense Full Moon in Capricorn. During the Capricorn Full Moon, your inbox or voicemail may contain promising messages regarding a career opportunity, if that’s what you seek at this time. Your efforts during the past couple of weeks could generate the kind of response that you’ve been hoping for. The Planets this Week: July 23 - 29, 2017

This week we have a New Moon in Leo. The New Moon presents an opportune time for new starts and beginnings. Practically imperceptible to the human eye, the New Moon seems almost non-existent from our vantage point. However, like our subconscious minds, we know it’s there, progressing slowly toward illumination.

There may be a feeling or a desire brewing within for some sort of change. This is a time for planting seeds, for birthing new ideas and starting afresh. Creatively speaking, inspiration can be residing somewhere just beneath the surface, barely breaking into conscious thought. You may want to carve out some quiet time to nurture any cerebral stirrings. Nourish your mind with books. Listen to dreams that inspire ideas. You may want to take a project that you’ve been working on in a different direction, forging a new path.

On Tuesday, communication planet Mercury moves into Virgo where it will be until August 31st. This is an extra-long transit due to the retrograde period on August 12th. With the influence of Mercury in Virgo you may find you have a keen, piercing intellect and can zero in on required information like a hawk on a mouse.

At this time, your mind will work efficiently and quickly. You’ll learn best through organized logical courses of study and you may be drawn to math and the sciences. You’ll be capable of very detailed work and won’t shy away from numbers, figures, or equations. You’ll tend to be very orderly in your thinking and methodology, which will make you inclined toward academics, research, study projects and the like. However, you won’t want to be too abstract and you’ll prefer work that has practical benefit, and not just for yourself but for others as well.

Love planet Venus moves into Cancer where it will be until August 25th. Under the influence of Venus in Cancer, and depending on how this transit affects your natal chart, you may find yourself longing for deep emotional connections. Casual relationships don’t appeal to you — it’s intimacy that you crave. Your sensitive, soft-hearted side comes out now, and you want to feel safe enough in your relationships to show your vulnerability. When you feel that your sense of security is threatened, you might hide behind the protection of your Crab shell, and put others off with your crankiness.

You may be more nurturing and maternal toward your loved ones now, baking their favorite treats and tending to their every need. Once you feel committed, you’re in for the long haul, and are willing to invest your time and energy in making the relationship work. Just be sure that you’re not giving too much of yourself away, and that there’s a balance of give-and-take. Because of your strong desire for intimacy, you might also have a tendency to commit yourself too quickly, ignoring the warning signals. Be sure to pay close attention to your feelings and intuition.

Also this week, Uranus, planet of the unexpected turns retrograde at the last degree of Aries. Uranus is the oddball of the solar system, in more ways than one. For starters, it rolls along its equator instead of spinning upright in its orbit, the way a proper planet does. During the retrograde period, our more outrageous inclinations may be less evident, though occasionally, for someone who’s normally rather repressed, this period will provide the opportunity to throw off the shackles of inhibition and allow a freer self to emerge. This is the ultimate triumph of Uranus Retrograde.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? There’s a New Moon in Leo that arouses your creative side. Sparks of imagination light up in your mind. Give some quality time to nurture these divine gifts that ultimately make your life much richer and more colorful. If any particular problem has got you stumped, you may find some new ways to resolve them.

Also this week, Mars moves into Sagittarius where it will stay until September 27th. This is part of the cycle that began in March when Mars first moved into Sagittarius and then turned retrograde in April. Under the influence of Mars in Sagittarius, you’ll broaden horizons and approach life as a daring adventure. You may be constantly on the move, restless to explore new vistas and impatient with the daily grind. Personal freedom will be a high priority and you’ll feel an urge to break free from any stifling relationship or situation. “Don’t fence me in” could be your theme song.

On Friday, love planet Venus moves into Virgo. While Venus is in Virgo until August 29th, you may be reaching for the stars in love. You probably won’t settle for someone who doesn’t meet your standards, preferring solitude to imperfection.

You may be more critical of potential suitors or, if in a relationship, of your partner. Although you may think you’re being helpful, your words could be received as harsh or judgmental. At the same time, you might be more sensitive to other people’s criticism, because you may feel less confident than usual. Tune in on Monday at 9pm ET to find out more…

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? With some of the inner planets changing sign this week many of us may feel these changes in the air. Mercury moves into Gemini on Sunday while Venus moves into Cancer on Friday.

While Mercury is in Gemini, and depending on how it affects your birth chart, your mind might zip along at the speed of light. You could find yourself making mental leaps from one train of thought to the next, and discover a sudden fascination for a variety of subjects. Your curiosity could take you in all sorts of exciting directions — enjoy the ride!

Don’t bother trying to stick to one subject for too long, or get too deeply involved in one pursuit of study. This is a time to cast a wide net, picking up bits of information and experiences that you can later organize into a meaningful pattern.

Get out and socialize. You’ve got the gift of gab, and might especially enjoy day trips with friends, neighborhood gatherings, and speed dating. Trivia games, crosswords, and any activities requiring dexterity could be satisfying now. Fine woodworking and playing musical instruments could also be fun for your nimble fingers.

When Venus moves into Cancer on Friday we may find ourselves longing for deep emotional connections. Casual relationships don’t appeal — it’s intimacy that we will crave. Your sensitive, soft-hearted side comes out now, and you want to feel safe enough in your relationships to show your vulnerability. When you feel that your sense of security is threatened, you might hide behind the protection of your Crab shell, and put others off with your crankiness.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? Monday is going to be a very hectic day, astrologically speaking. There’s a Full Moon which is the second Full Moon in Sagittarius this year. This is a rare occurrence and means it will be critical to wrap things up or finish what you have started.

Also on Monday, astrologers in the Northern Hemisphere will be celebrating the Summer Solstice! Of course, astrologers in the Southern Hemisphere will be celebrating the Winter Solstice. This important event in astrology coincides with the Sun moving into Cancer where it will be until July 22nd.

At the time of the Summer Solstice, the Sun rises and sets at the greatest northern distance from the equator, and it achieves the greatest elevation in the sky at midday. Summer officially begins with the longest day of the year and the shortest night in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere, the reverse is true: This is the shortest day of the year and the longest night.

While the Sun is in Cancer you might long for deeper connections and a sense of belonging. Familiarity and security seem more important than meeting new people or exploring new places or ideas. Your impulse now is to strengthen bonds with your partner, family and close friends.

The past may have a strong pull now, and you could find yourself lost in nostalgia, flipping through photo albums or grandma’s old memorabilia. You might also be drawn to reconnect with people from your past, or to revisit your old haunts. Traditions are more attractive now, and you could even have a tendency to be a bit old-fashioned.

The Planets this Week: June 25 - July 1, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

Summer has officially begun in the Northern Hemisphere (and Winter in the Southern Hemisphere). The Summer Solstice occurs around June 21 or so, when the Sun enters the Cardinal sign of Cancer.

The Summer Solstice coincides with the Sun moving into Cancer. Cancer is symbolized by the Crab, which makes a lot of sense when you take that sensitive, emotional nature into account. When things get tense, Cancer goes into self-protection mode, pulling into its shell until the trouble clears.

A Cardinal Water Sign, emotional Cancer is ruled by the Moon, which explains that ultra-sensitive moodiness. But Cancer isn’t all about protecting itself; not even close. This sign is the caretaker of the Zodiac, who will go to great lengths to keep its loved ones safe and supported. Cancers are nothing if not deeply connected with their families, and would do anything for their friends as well — even if it doesn’t always seem like it. Cancer can come across as a very introverted sign, but that doesn’t mean they don’t care. This sign can get so emotional that it doesn’t know how to express itself, and there’s that handy shell again, ready for Cancer to retreat to.

We also have a New Moon in Cancer and Mercury moved into Cancer so there’s a lot of watery energy during these hot summer weeks!

Mercury is very busy this week with its many aspects to other planets. The way you communicate has a lot to do with the planet Mercury, which is often called the planet of communication and also rules your thought processes, your logic (or lack thereof), your intellectual ideas and the way you get those ideas across to the world.

The Planets this Week: June 4 - 10, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

There’s a few planetary shifts happening this week. The first is Mars moving into Cancer where it will be until July 20th. This isn’t the most comfortable placement for Mars, but not completely terrible. Mars is the planet of action, the will to do, aggression, physical exertion, and the libido. Cancer is a reactive sign of nurturing, family, protection, imagination, motherhood, and origins.

Next up is Venus moving into Taurus on Tuesday. Under the influence of Venus in Taurus, and depending on how this transit affects your birth chart, you could find yourself indulging in the sensual side of life. You’re likely to take your time expressing warmth and affection toward your sweetie, and will likewise revel in receiving physical contact.

Next up is a Full Moon in Sagittarius. During the Sagittarius Full Moon, you’re likely to be in a jolly mood that makes you feel truly alive. Recent steps you have taken to add some zest to your life are working. No longer plagued by feelings of boredom, you are more able to enjoy getting up when the promise of a fun day lies ahead of you. Give yourself a pat on the back for taking charge of your own well-being.

After a four month retrograde period, Jupiter planet of luck and good fortune turns direct. When Jupiter is retrograde in Libra, from February 5 through June 9, 2017, that expansive energy turns inward. During this phase, we are challenged to take stock of our beliefs and ideals, and be honest with ourselves about whether the lives we’re living truly match our most cherished beliefs.

The Planets this Week: March 12 - 18, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week? Mars moved into Taurus on the 9th where it will be until April 21st. Under this influence, slow and steady may be your motto. But like the tortoise who out-raced the hare, the amount of work you have the potential to accomplish could amaze everybody. You may find getting up in the morning, you may not be the fastest starter. At this time, you will respond well to routine and once you get going will find yourself methodically plowing through a task, project, or to-do list.

On the 12th we have a Full Moon in Virgo. During this time, you’ll probably feel a sense of achievement as you notice the progress of your efforts to tidy up at home and at work. In matters of health, you feel the effects of your exercise routine — or lack of one. Give yourself more time to reach the optimal goal that you originally set out to accomplish. Don’t try to push your body beyond its limits. Plug away slowly and you’ll soon find that your endurance and stamina increases noticeably.

On the 13th, communication planet Mercury moves into Aries where it will stay until March 31st. During this time your mind could be functioning at top speed and in short bursts of activity. You might not have a lot of patience to focus on one idea for too long, instead burning through one thought quickly and moving on to the next. Instead of weighing all the pros and cons of a situation, you may tend to make snap judgments based more on instinct than logic.

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

One of the headlines of the year is on Monday 20th we will be celebrating the Vernal Equinox. This marks the official start of spring, in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere it is the start of autumn.

The Spring Equinox occurs around March 20 each year, when the sun enters the Cardinal sign of Aries and the spring season officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere. The Sun rises due east and sets due west, no matter where on the planet you are. Days and nights are nearly equal.

Holidays during this time, such as Easter and Beltane, usually relate to fertility and the hope for successful crops in the field. Spring has been associated with burgeoning sexuality. In song, spring suggests the maiden or lad as they step into adulthood. Life offers many opportunities that have yet to be explored. Everything is fresh, new and exciting. Hormones act up and libidinal urges start to simmer within.

In the Southern Hemisphere, during the Autumn Equinox, the Sun rises due east and sets due west, no matter where on the planet you are. Days and nights are just about equal. Autumn marks the lengthening nights and darkening skies. Trees change colors as the leaves fall to the ground. The energy in the air has shifted from the extroverted, free-spirited nature of summer fun to a quieter, more reflexive foreshadowing of winter.

The equinox coincides with the start of the astrological new year and the Sun moving into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac.

The Planets this Week: March 26 - April 1, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

The theme of new beginnings continues with the Aries New Moon. This energy could be the force behind some edgy impulses that need release. Having just completed a restive period, you’re ready for something exciting and new to begin. Brilliant schemes may be circulating in your brain. At the very least, you’re ready for something to happen and it will probably be by your own hand. With the New Moon in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, this lunar phase marks energetic beginnings and fresh starts. You are hankering for some action.

Also this week we have an unusual and intense aspect when excessive Jupiter forms a square to fanatical and destructive Pluto. Things aren’t going quite as smoothly as we’d hoped. Although the drive to succeed is very strong and we feel perhaps a bit too confident, it seems that everyone keeps getting in the way of our potential success. It feels like ‘they’ are out to get us. This is what conspiracy theories are made of! We just can’t put things into proper perspective. Small things seem big and big ones seem minor.

Finally, the week ends when communication planet moves into Taurus. Under the influence of Mercury in Taurus your mind might operate slowly and methodically. You may find yourself taking your time to thoroughly consider an idea, thinking through all the details before making up your mind. You’re likely to have great mental focus, able to concentrate on the task at hand and see it all the way to the end.

Once you reach a conclusion, you might get so attached to it that you refuse to budge, even when presented with convincing evidence. Mental stubbornness is the downside of this influence — a willingness to consider others’ ideas and opinions will serve you well.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? Thank goodness Mercury will no longer be retrograde! Mercury turned retrograde April 28th and has been causing havoc for many of us. This week, it goes direct so we can anticipate our stalled plans moving forward again especially when it comes to finances.

Love planet Venus moves into Gemini on Tuesday. While Venus visits Gemini, and depending on how this influence affects other planets in your natal chart, your social life could be very stimulating! You might find yourself connecting with a wide variety of friends, and enjoying an assortment of activities. Curiosity is high, and you’re eager to try new experiences and learn about different subjects.

Take care on Thursday, especially in any work related matters as Jupiter forms a square to Saturn putting strict limits on all the fun, travel, expansion and adventure we usually expect from Jupiter. What we want to do interferes with what we should do. What we actually do is a measure of our maturity (ah! a Saturn test). We struggle to envelop both the big and the small, the inner and the outer. The answer, of course, is somewhere in middle.

On Friday, Mars moves backwards into Scorpio. Mars is the warrior planet and when the warrior turns retrograde, the fight becomes more of an internal one. For some, Mars retrograde in Scorpio suggests the re-appearance of a former lover, disrupting an existing relationship. Jealousy, whether warranted or not, is another expression of Martian anger, usually kept under control but let loose during the retrograde period.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? The much anticipated astrological news of the week is Jupiter turning direct in Virgo after a four month retrograde period.

Virgo is all about the detail; Jupiter is all about going further than anyone else. Combine these two energies, and you have a recipe for fundamentalism of all kinds and more so these past few months since Jupiter has been retrograde.

This could be a pivotal time for religious extremism around the world, but it’s not only religious fervor which can be stirred up by Jupiter in Virgo – all kinds of beliefs, standards and practices may be taken to extremes.

However, this influence can also have some hugely positive effects. Virgo is the sign most concerned with health and sanitation, and the energies of Jupiter in Virgo can be a catalyst for great improvements in public health around the world, perhaps with new vaccines and infrastructure being provided to some of the poorest parts of the globe.

Jupiter has a definite spiritual tinge to his energies, but Virgo is a very down-to-earth sign. A struggle to blend the material concerns of Virgo with the ethereal aims of Jupiter will ensue, but one way round this is to focus on holistic wellness. During this period, take care of your whole body and mind, perhaps engaging in a spiritual-physical practice such as yoga.

Ultimately, Jupiter’s transit of Virgo has a lot to offer if we can reign in the extremist viewpoints which could otherwise blight this year. Unfortunately, however, the Virgo tendency to get bogged down in the detail could prevent politicians from seeing the bigger picture until it’s very difficult – or too late – to do much about it.

What do the planets have in store for you this week?

We have a Full Moon in Taurus on Monday. During this time you may see some monetary rewards for financial manoeuvres you made earlier. Having pledged to stick by your instincts, this could be a period of fulfilment, where you see the benefits of monetary strategies. Perhaps, additional unexpected benefits will be revealed. With extra cash flow in hand, you can afford to splurge a little on yourself.

You’re likely to be more “chill” with a Taurean moon, which can make you grounded and relaxed. In this blissful state, engage in life’s finer things. Go out with friends or your main squeeze to a fab restaurant of culinary repute. You’re not likely to pass on dessert – maybe you’ll have two of them! Even if people around you seem to be in a huff, you’re likely to stay centered and retain your cool.

On Saturday, Neptune turns direct after being retrograde since June 13th. Neptune is often called the planet of illusion, because it rules all things illusory — the intangible, the ethereal, the abstract and elusive. Dreams and fantasy fall within this planet’s realm, as do spirituality and idealism. It’s easier to understand Neptune if you think of it in terms of that which can’t be defined — things that are changeable, that not only have no discernible boundaries, but that you literally can’t put your finger on.

What do the planets have in store for you this week? We have a busy astrological week! The Sun shifts into Sagittarius on Monday where it will stay until December 21st.

Under the influence of the Sun in Sagittarius many of us may feel the urge to broaden our horizons. The daily grind could feel stifling, and some of us might long to break free from what’s become ordinary and routine. If we take the risk of stepping outside our comfort zone and encountering the unknown, we’ll be rewarded with fresh inspiration and a higher perspective on life.

Travel feeds our adventurous spirit. If we can’t leave the country, at least we could take a day trip to a neighboring town or any we have never visited. The wilderness might also call to us and a hike in the woods or a camping trip could be just what is needed to restore our vitality and reconnect with our inner truth. Intellectual travel will also be satisfying — through attending lectures, taking classes or simply talking with people who see the world very differently from ourselves. The important part is growth and expansion in some way.

We might find ourselves philosophizing about the meaning of life and taking a closer look at our beliefs and worldview. We might become more interested in religion and spirituality, and check out a new church, try a meditation practice, or go on a vision quest. Exploring a range of belief systems and different cultures can help us get a better sense of what we believe. Now is the time to attempt to synthesize our ideas and experiences in order to identify a guiding theme or story in your lives.

Having recently completed a contemplative period, your body craves for some excitement now. You may find yourself daydreaming about travel to foreign lands, or maybe tackling a philosophical conundrum.

Boredom is an issue that has your fingers tapping restlessly. What are you to do about it? There are many ways to distract yourself. Maybe a road trip is in order. Or, how about a week in the wilderness? Maybe bungee jumping? Mull over the many possibilities available to you. Pick something that is not only physically active, but offers you a learning experience as well. Think of options outside of your normal routine, even if it means something as simple as taking a different route home from work.

Figure out how you can add a little spice in various areas to keep you from getting the doldrums. If physical limitations that keep you from ranging too far, look at ways to travel mentally. Workshops, seminars, and classes can usually do the trick. Books have a way of taking us away from ourselves.

Keep your brain satisfied and you won’t go wrong. If you crave more adventurous fare, remember to weigh the pros and cons before leaping into action. Check out the feasibility in detail. Aim for an activity that you can look back on with pride rather than embarrassment.

What do the planets have in store for you this week? There’s big shifts happening this week with three planets changing signs. Action planets Mars moves into Aquarius on Tuesday which means many of us may find ourselves asserting our independence and individuality. We may long to break free from other people’s expectations and want to experiment with expressing more of our authentic self, taking the risk of letting our eccentricities show. Some of us might hate being told what to do, and if we have any authority issues, they’re likely to appear now and could even get some of us into hot water.

On Friday, love planet Venus moves into Capricorn where it will be until December 7th. While Venus is in Capricorn, and depending on how this transit affects an individual’s natal chart, many of us may find ourselves taking a serious approach to relationships. We will have high standards in love, and are more interested in a long-term commitment than casual dating. Some may have a tendency to view relationships as investments, and want to spend time wisely, rather than wasting any energy on connections that won’t pay off in the long run. At worst, people might be accused of being cold and calculating.

On Saturday, messenger Mercury moves into free-wheeling Sagittarius. Many of us will choose to broaden our worldview and explore a variety of subjects. There’s an urge to tackle new ideas and perspectives, especially of a philosophical nature. Many of us will be asking ourselves life’s big questions, wondering, “what does it all mean?”

Also, nitpicky details, facts and figures are less interesting now, and decisions will be made based on intuition rather than logic or analysis.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you?

At the end of the week the Sun will be moving into Scorpio where it will stay until November 21st.

During the Sun’s stay in Scorpio, you may get in touch with deeper and darker aspects of yourself. You’re not interested in the superficial; instead you want to dive into the depths and uncover what’s hidden beneath the surface.

You might seem mysterious to others, and may reveal yourself only to those who have proven that they can be trusted. Your feelings are intense; you might be afraid you’ll scare people away if they see how passionate and extreme you can be.

In reality, you’re probably scared of being vulnerable. But if you hide emotions, you’ll miss out on the intimacy you’re longing for. If you risk revealing yourself, you can deepen and strengthen bonds with a significant other.

Your desire to explore the depths and use your intuitive powers to uncover hidden motivations could lead you to study psychology or astrology. Investigation and research can also be rewarding.

You have focus and willpower to complete any project, which means digging until you get to the root of the issue. You’re relentless in your pursuit of truth.

Under the influence of the Scorpio Sun, you have the potential to heal from old wounds and transform a stagnant situation. The key is being willing to let go of the past, release what you’ve outgrown, and forgive yourself and others.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you?

It’s a fairly quiet week after lots of planetary action the past few weeks. The Full Moon in Aries at the end of the week brings a host of activity and action, particularly for the cardinal signs – Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

During the Aries Full Moon, you may see some of your efforts beginning to pay off. You could receive recognition for your spirited, enthusiastic preliminary work on recent endeavors. Your leadership qualities may also be commended for rousing the troops in an effort. However, in your desire to be the head of the pack, you may run into resistance from others who believe in group consensus. You might need to be more of a team player. You can’t really run a show without the crew on your side, so you’ll have to balance your need to be the head honcho with a cooperative spirit. Try not to have any temper tantrums when you don’t get your way, or are challenged by dissenting views.

Your energy level can be quite high during this time. Romantic activities can be very passionate if you keep your lips and hands busy! You are likely to take decisive action. If you’re not getting satisfactory results, consider what you might need to cut out. Think about what you need to lose in the process of moving forward. As the moon begins to wane, you may need to let someone go who is no longer needed on a project, or maybe tossing out some excess weight that is keeping you down. A strong backbone is needed not only for expanding projects but also for trimming down.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? There’s a Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on Friday 16th. This is the final eclipse for 2016. It follows a Solar Eclipse and another Lunar Eclipse this season.

During this time and a few months after the Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, you may begin to see evidence of profound change not only in yourself, but also among people who you’ve opened up to. Having made an effort to be more compassionate, you feel good about the way you’ve touched other people’s hearts. Compassion is often lacking when there is such a huge gap between ‘haves’ and ‘have nots.’ You are helping to close that gap with kindness.

You are probably more in touch with your feelings now than other times. Highly sensitive to the nuance of subtle gestures that reveal other people’s true emotional state, you are valued for your keen sense.

Continue giving of yourself, for it is truly appreciated — and it does make a difference! In your personal relationships, your ability to be present with your feelings and your empathy make your interactions more meaningful. Great joy can come from spending time with those you love.

Romance is especially highlighted with this bright moon, so make sure to indulge in plenty of candlelight and kisses. As the moon begins to wane, you might want to spend time alone in meditation, getting in touch with yourself on a deeper level than you usually make time for. You may have some marvelous psychic visions that can guide you in the future. Replenish your spirit for the next cycle ahead.

How will this week’s planetary influences be affecting you? We officially have a change of season as we move from Summer to Autumn or Fall in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere it’s Winter to Spring. The changing of seasons coincides with the Sun moving from Virgo to Libra.

Under the influence of the Libra Sun, and depending on how this transit affects the other planets in your chart you may find yourself to be a lover, not a fighter.

At this time, you’ll much prefer everyone to just get along, and you’ll be distressed by fights, arguments, and disagreements. You’ll do your part to make the world — and your immediate environment — a more harmonious place – treating other people with respect and courtesy, you making acquaintances easily and, better yet, you’ll be able to bring people together.

Under this transit, you can capitalize on your natural diplomatic skills, and you could find yourself a go-between for people who are not getting along. Your mediation skills will be honed and you may find yourself to be a good listener and have a fair, balanced view of things.

Your ability to see both sides of an issue will help you in negotiations, but may also contribute to extreme indecision. Making up your mind can be a huge challenge during this period. And even after you decide something, you may even second-guess yourself or change your mind! You’ll be sincere in each moment, but your feelings could change in an instant.

this time, you’ll bend over backward to avoid confrontation and will want to be liked and admired by others. You’ll also be afraid of offending people under this Libran influence.

06 Sep 2016The Planets this Week: September 4 - 10, 201600:56:29
Aired Monday, 5 September 2016, 9:00 PM ET

The big news of the week is Jupiter moving into Libra! During the twelve plus months Jupiter is in Libra many of us will be at our best when we are working to bring together people of vastly different ideas, backgrounds, and cultures.

Our natural curiosity about the world and our ability to talk to anyone gives us, over time, a fantastic range of friends, acquaintances, and experiences, which we’ll draw from as we connect this person with that person in ways that are beneficial to everyone.

During this transit many of us will have a keen sense of justice and may be attracted to a profession in the legal field. There is something noble and idealistic about many of us, as if our ideas are so virtuous and elevated that mere humans can only aspire to them. For many of us, our ideals are built on our inner faith and belief that everyone deserves justice and equality.

At this time, folks will promote peace, not war. We believe in diplomacy over force. Our desire is to improve the world and leave it a better place. And while we are here, many will probably enjoy some of the finer things that life has to offer. Our tastes could be quite refined, not to mention expensive. There’s an appreciation of fine art, music and culture. The wonderful thing is that these things also feed the soul.

To find out more tune in on Monday at 6pm PT/9pm ET.
26 Apr 2016The Planets this Week: April 24 - 30, 201600:56:54
Aired Monday, 25 April 2016, 9:00 PM ET

Join astrologer and host, Kelli Fox, who will be discussing this week’s planetary influences and how they will be affecting you. The astro headline of the week is Mercury turning retrograde.

Everyone knows that Mercury Retrograde is a great time to do things that start with ‘re’: repair, reduce, reconsider, recreate. But what else can you do to bring out the best energy of this period?

Also this week, love planet Venus moves into sensual Taurus. During this influence you may find that you love your creature comforts, and are willing to pay for those little luxuries that sweeten your everyday experience. Material security is a priority, and you can make solid progress in building up your savings account — if you temper your tendency toward indulgence.

You may also find that, your magnetism is strong, and potential suitors could be irresistibly drawn to you. Loyalty and stability are important to you now, and you might find socializing with a few close friends more satisfying than casting a wide net.

Kelli will be discussing more about these influence and how they will be affecting your sign. Be sure to tune into get your weekly horoscope too!

The Planets

Astrology is not a belief system, and it’s definitely not a supernatural phenomenon. It’s an ancient and complex system based on careful observation of the heavens and the movement of the planets around the Sun. It’s a system that you can use to better understand human nature and life here on earth.

There are so many components to astrology that it can get pretty confusing. Sun signs, birth charts, planets and aspects… Lots of factors go into an accurate reading of astrological conditions and how they relate to you. But just for starters, at the exact moment that you were born, the planets were in particular positions in the sky. Together, they tell all about you, heart and soul.

According to astrology, the planets in our birth chart include more than just our nine — including celestial bodies that we don’t normally think of as planets, such as the Sun and the Moon.

The planets were in a certain, distinctive pattern in the sky at the exact moment that you were born, and a map of their configuration is called your natal chart, or birth chart. Each planet represents something in itself — your personality (Sun), the way you think (Mercury), the way you love (Venus) and so on — but together, the angles and connections among all of them also paint a highly specific and accurate portrait of who you are as an individual.

Some people like to claim that astrology doesn’t work — that it provides only generic information that could be applied to anyone. But take a look at a reading of your birth chart, and you’ll find out just how specific the information gets! You’ll be amazed by the picture of you that astrology paints, including in-depth analysis of your emotional life, your dreams and motivations and your subconscious drives.

Join Kelli Fox who will be talking about the planetary influences for the week. According to the stars, it’s a busy week ahead so it’s better to be prepared to make the most of these cosmic influences. At the end of the show Kelli will be sharing insights specifically for each sign through her Weekly Horoscopes.

Find out what it will mean for you and your sign when Mars turns retrograde at the start of the week. Mars is the warrior planet and when the warrior turns retrograde, the fight becomes more of an internal one. Mars goes retrograde approximately once every two years, for a period of 10 weeks or so. The retrograde this year is complicated because it involves two signs – on April 17th Mars first turns retrograde in Sagittarius, but will regress into Scorpio on May 27th before finally turning direct again on June 29th.

Also, with the Sun moving into Taurus on Tuesday the next few weeks will be a time to focus on our finances but there’s more to it that just money. Learn more about the second sign of the zodiac and what the term “bull-headed” means for you.

On Thursday, there’s a powerful Full Moon in Scorpio which will also highlight issues around money and possessions as well as power and control. With Pluto turning retrograde early in the week it seems this week might have a competitive flavor so be sure to tune in to find out more how the stars will be aligning for you.
09 Aug 2016The Twelve Zodiac Signs00:56:51
Aired Monday, 8 August 2016, 9:00 PM ET

There are twelve signs in the Zodiac, one for each month of the year. Unfortunately, the signs and the calendar don’t align perfectly. The Zodiac begins in mid-March, not on January first; and signs span from roughly the 20th or 21st of one month to the 19th or 20th of the next, not the 1st to the 31st. (Are you confused yet? No? Good!)

When someone asks you what your sign is, they’re referring to your Sun Sign — where the sun was in the Zodiac at the exact moment of your birth. But every other planet in your birth chart is also located in a particular sign, and is influenced by that sign’s unique energy. This explains why everyone who’s born under the influence of the same Sun Sign can still have such vastly different personalities; each of us is made up of a complex and unique combination of influences from the twelve signs, the twelve houses and all the planets, asteroids and points… Now, that’s definitely getting complicated! But clearly, having lots of planets in a certain sign in your chart will only intensify that sign’s influence in your life.

Each sign of the Zodiac is associated with a particular symbol, usually an animal, like the Ram (Aries) or the Bull (Taurus); an element, such as Air (Gemini) or Water (Cancer); and a quality, such as Fixed (Leo) or Mutable (Virgo). Each of these variables helps us to understand more about the signs that influence us and the energy inherent in each.

Find out more about the signs… Monday 6pm PT/9pm ET.

With Venus and Mercury both switching signs plus a New Moon and lots of positive astrological vibes, it’s potentially the best week so far this year for seizing new and exciting opportunities.

Join Astrologer, Kelli Fox to find out how Mercury moving into Taurus, Venus into Aries and the Aries New Moon will be influencing each of the Sun signs. This time of year is all about starting afresh – with the recent Spring Equinox, Solar Eclipse and planets changing signs and directions now is the time for action!

The Aries New Moon could be the force behind some edgy impulses that need release. Having just completed a restive period, you’re ready for something exciting and new to begin. Brilliant schemes may be circulating in your brain. At the very least, many of us are ready for something to happen. With the New Moon in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, this lunar phase marks energetic beginnings and fresh starts.

While Venus is in Aries, your love life could be quite exciting over the coming weeks! You might find yourself being bolder than usual, taking risks and acting on your ardent impulses. Romance can be steamy and you’re open to experimentation — just watch out for getting carried away by your passions and be sure to take care of yourself.

How about communication planet, Mercury, moving into Taurus? Your mind might operate slowly and methodically over the next few weeks. You may find yourself taking your time to thoroughly consider an idea, thinking through all the details before making up your mind. You’re likely to have great mental focus, able to concentrate on the task at hand and see it all the way to the end but this may go against the Aries energy of wanting to jump straight in.

Find out how to make the most of these conflicting planetary influences over the next few weeks…

The Planets this Week: May 21 - 27, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week?

The Sun is now in Gemini so it’s Gemini season! The Sun moved into Gemini where it will be until June 20th. Under the Gemini Sun, and depending on its influence to your natal chart, your social life is likely to get a big boost. You’ll be in the mood to connect, and will have fun meeting fascinating people who open your mind to new ways of seeing the world. Your networking skills are in top form — make a point of getting out and talking about your dreams for the future!

Mental energy will be high, and your mind might be a bit scattered, but your insatiable curiosity could take you in all sorts of interesting directions. You might find yourself drawn to taking classes, surfing the internet, or reading a variety of magazines and books. There’s an urge to learn new things, but you might have a hard time settling your mind on one subject for too long. Without variety, you get easily bored.

On Thursday, we also have a New Moon in Gemini which stirs up a plethora of fancies in your head; so many, in fact, that you may walk into a wall if you don’t pay attention to where you’re going! Those who find you staring off into space think you are in a fog belt, when you are actually immobilized by thoughts of a gazillion possibilities. You won’t need too much outside stimulation to incite more activity in your head, you’ve got plenty of your own. Maybe there is a best-selling novel brewing in your brain that begs to be brought to life. Maybe you’re thinking about learning some new languages. You may even want to learn something new and completely different.

14 Nov 2017A Mid-Season Forecast for the Signs00:56:44
Aired Monday, 13 November 2017, 9:00 PM ET

A Mid-Season Forecast for the Signs

We are halfway through the season. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Fall Equinox is behind us and we are fast approaching the Winter Solstice.

It’s a time for change and transformation, to lay concrete plans for the future and let go of the things that haven’t been working.

Pluto continues with its trek through Capricorn affecting the cardinal signs – Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Pluto is all about the hidden side of existence — secrets, affairs, behind-the-scenes manipulations and so on. But more than that, it’s about power, whether it’s negative or positive. Powerful experiences such as sexuality, death, destruction and regeneration are within this planet’s realm, as are powerful urges like will, control and obsession.

Neptune, currently in Pisces is nearly halfway through its 14 year cycle and has many of the mutable signs in a dilemma. If you’re a Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces this applies to you. Neptune is often called the planet of illusion, because it rules all things illusory — the intangible, the ethereal, the abstract and elusive. Dreams and fantasy fall within this planet’s realm, as do spirituality and idealism. This is the planet that can make your life pleasant with daydreams but that can simultaneously confuse your sense of reality.

Uranus, planet of disruption and sudden change is preparing to change signs from Aries to Taurus in May 2018 where it will be for the next seven years. The fixed signs – Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius should be bracing for life to propel in a whole new direction. Uranus influences our senses of freedom and restriction. With its unstable and unpredictable energy, Uranus moves to upset the balance of your life; to shake up your routines, to fly in the face of others’ expectations and so on. Uranus is the planet that encourages you to break out of your mold, to spread your wings and fly.

Aired Monday, 11 December 2017, 9:00 PM ET

A Peak Into 2018

What do the planets have in store for us in 2018? Possibly the biggest astrological news of 2018 is likely to be the arrival of Uranus in Taurus, in May; the last time Taurus hosted Uranus was during the Great Depression, ahead of the Second World War in 1942.

The planet Uranus is often associated with rebellions and revolutions, earthquakes and volcanoes — anything that erupts with sudden, unpredictable force and changes life as we know it. But Uranus’s effects aren’t all disruptive; just most of them! This planet also rules original thought, unique inventions and improvements on tradition. Without its influence in our lives, we might never know the development of science, for example, or humanitarianism. Whether it happens in a constructive or a destructive way, Uranus promotes progress.

When Uranus is coupled with Taurus it will shake up our ideas of money, property, and values, possibly transforming these things, whether we want it or not.

On May 15th, Mars enters Aquarius as Uranus enters Taurus. This creates an immediate square between these two potentially volatile energies. On June 26th Mars goes retrograde and the world will have its collective finger on the self-destruct button. However, it could also be a time where people and communities cleanse themselves of their worst elements.

Venus goes retrograde at nearly 11 degrees Scorpio on October 5th, going back into Libra on October 31st and on through November, then goes direct again on November 16th. Venus Retrograde grounds us; it puts a damper on love and relationships, bringing those walking on clouds back down to Earth. With Venus Retrograde in Scorpio, we examine the relationships and aesthetics that we would normally hide from all but a select, trusted few…perhaps even ourselves.

An Interview with Dr. Laura Tadd, Professional Astrologer and Author

As a social scientist and internationally known astrologer, Dr. Laura Tadd has found an astrological perspective to be unparalleled when it comes to helping us heal from the past, access our potential and lead deeply fulfilling lives. One of her arias of greatest focus is the parent and child relationship. She is currently working on a book expanding on her e-book – Stellar Parenting: Enriching the Parent and Child Relationship – found on her website www.mythicsky.com.

The parent-child relationship is profoundly nuanced. Consequently, any attempt at a universal parenting theory is doomed to fail. It is not that parenting is without constants. All children need love, and research has shown the importance of physical affection; even the youngest of children need touch to thrive. But, if we hope to raise freethinking individuals who flourish in ways unique to them, we must tailor how they are parented.

The addition of an astrological view helps a parent understand their child and their relationship with them. It illuminates there are points of ease; where they push their child’s buttons and where their child pushes theirs. Likewise, astrology can aid a parent in mundane things, like individualizing study habits, as well as more complex challenges such as bullying on the playground.

Families operate in a systemic way, and when one member changes the whole family is impacted. Applying an astrological perspective, not only deepens one’s understanding of their child and their relationship with them, but it is also an unparalleled tool for adults to understand, improve and heal their relationship with their family of origin.

Aquarius 2019

This show is dedicated to Aquarius – the 11th sign of the zodiac. The symbol of this sign is the water-bearer which brings water to the masses. Aquarius is the philanthropist of the zodiac who is the humanitarian that helps others. This sign is a free thinker and many times has brilliant and genius solutions to problems. Aquarius is very much a team player who believes in social justice and equality for all.

This sign is ruled by unpredictable Uranus who also rules earthquakes and volcanos and disrupts life as we know it. Aquarius is an air sign which surprises many people as the water-bearer is its symbol. This is the paradox Aquarius creates wherever it goes. Aquarius is a fixed sign that can dig its heels in when it feels like it. It can be easy going up to a point and then it’s not.

Aquarius is all about the future, technology and scientific solutions to old problems. Groups and organizations and networking with others is a favorite pastime. Aquarius is the sign of friendship so this sign will know a lot of people from all walks of life. Aquarius is not happy being one of the crowd they must be different or stand out somehow and it’s usually through a weird and wacky way. They are extremely independent and seek freedom at all costs.

Aquarius most definitely possesses an odd combination of forward thinking and mental stubbornness and make no mistake about it — this influence will have this sign fixed in their outlook and opinions.

Also on this show will be Aquarius compatibility – how this sign gets a long with the other signs of the zodiac as well as the planets in Aquarius and what that means.

Happy Birthday Pisces

Aired Monday, 18 February 2019, 9:00 PM ET

This show is dedicated to the twelfth sign of the zodiac – Pisces. This week, the Sun moves into Pisces where it will be until March 20th. This is a good time to pursue creative endeavors, performing arts and spiritual pursuits. Pisces is symbolized by the Fish, those two little creatures whose scales glint in the sun as they follow where the stream takes them. And just as that stream can symbolize the subconscious mind or the winding path of life itself, Pisces is like those fish, swimming along in the currents, taking what comes and throwing off rainbows as it goes.

During this time, you could find that ‘reality’ is in fact only a small bit of the true larger picture; the spirit world is really where it’s at. Try not to avoid or escape the so-called Real World in order to hang out in that preferable alternate reality. Be very careful that this does not devolve into evasion or avoidance.

Also, this week, we have a Full Moon Super Moon in Virgo. During the Virgo Full Moon, you’ll probably feel a sense of achievement as you notice the progress of your efforts to tidy up at home and at work. Things seem to be a lot easier to locate now that you’ve organized your stuff into more manageable piles. Although you may not be completely finished putting things away or tossing them out, you’re beginning to actually see some open space in your environment. In matters of health, you feel the effects of your exercise routine — or lack of one. Give yourself more time to reach the optimal goal that you originally set out to accomplish.

25 Sep 2018Hello Libra!00:56:45
Aired Monday, 24 September 2018, 9:00 PM ET Hello Libra! Join host and astrologer, Kelli Fox, to find out all about Libra. Libra is symbolized by the Scales, which are all about balance — Libra’s lifelong pursuit. This sign is happiest when everything around it is in equilibrium; when everyone is happy and getting along, and there are no major injustices making life seem less sweet. The Sun moving into Libra coincides with the fall equinox in the northern hemisphere and the spring equinox in the southern hemisphere. The Autumn Equinox occurs around September 21 each year, when the Sun enters the Cardinal sign of Libra and the autumn season officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere. During the Autumn Equinox, the Sun rises due east and sets due west, no matter where on the planet you are. This week, we also have a Full Moon which means you may see some of your efforts beginning to pay off. Learn About the Moon Phases, Chiron and the Asteroids

There is a lot more to astrology than just Sun signs and daily horoscopes. Not only do astrologers use the planets and their connections to interpret an individual’s chart or to look at the heavens to forecast but there so many more heavenly bodies that are used.

The Moon phases are a vital part of astrology. The Moon is that bright, luminous orb we see in the night sky, counterpart to the fiery Sun in daytime. In astrology, the lunar light rules the unconscious realms of our minds, the stuff dreams are made of. Our instinctual reactions can be affected by the Moon’s phases over the course of a month, or to be more specific, 29.5 Earth days, as the Moon grows from a small crescent to a large glowing globe and then decreases in size back to nothing.

The Moon, of course, doesn’t really shrink or grow, but our view of the Moon from our vantage point here on earth changes due to the relative positions of the Sun, Earth and Moon. This is why we see lunar phases. There are eight noticeable phases of the Moon: The New Moon, the Crescent Moon, the First Quarter Moon, the Gibbous Moon, the Full Moon, the Disseminating Moon, the Third Quarter Moon and the Balsamic Moon.

The Asteroids are another overlooked yet important component to astrology. Asteroids are small and rocky, and do not qualify as planets. However, the larger ones have distinct qualities associated with them, astrologically speaking. Astrologers use the four largest asteroids — Ceres (pronounced SEER-eez), Juno, Vesta and Pallas Athena — as feminine archetypes. In addition, many astrologers add Chiron (pronounced KY-ron) to the mix.

Learn About the Planets

When you hear the word ‘planets,’ you probably think of the Solar System — as in, My Very Eager Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas. Ever heard that one? It’s a mnemonic device used to memorize the order of the planets, from Mercury on out to Pluto. But in astrology, the planets in our birth chart include more than just those nine — including celestial bodies that we don’t normally think of as planets, such as the Sun and the Moon.

We’ve all heard about Mercury Retrograde — how communication gets confused, traffic slows down and luggage gets lost when this little planet appears to start moving backward in the heavens. Mercury, however, is not the only planet that turns retrograde. In fact, all the planets except the Sun and the Moon go retrograde regularly. Join Astrologer, Kelli Fox, to learn more about the planets and what they mean.

Sagittarius

This show is dedicated to Sagittarius! The Sun moves into Sagittarius on November 22nd where it will stay until December 21st. During this time travel may feed your adventurous spirit. If you can’t leave the country, at least take a day trip to a neighboring town or any place you’ve never visited. The wilderness might also call to you, and a hike in the woods or a camping trip could be just what you need to restore your vitality and reconnect with your inner truth. Intellectual travel will also be satisfying — through attending lectures, taking classes or simply talking with people who see the world very differently from yourself. The important part is that you’re growing and expanding in some way.

There is also a Full Moon in Gemini so you may be pleasantly surprised by the progress you are making with the project you initiated during the New Moon on November 7th.

Nebulous Neptune turns direct on Saturday after being retrograde since June. Many of us won’t notice the effects of this occurrence but Neptune in Pisces represents spirituality, the arts, music, photography, fashion, glamor, Hollywood, charity, water, large institutions, drugs and alcohol. If you are a mutable sign – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces then this influence may affect you.

The Aspects and Elements

There is so much more to astrology than Sun signs. It’s a complex ancient mathematical system that tracks the movements of the planets in their orbit around the sun. Astrologers divide the Zodiac signs into groupings that link signs together by specific characteristics, which makes it easier to learn the signs.

The four elements associated with the signs of the Zodiac break the signs down into the basic groupings of Fire, Earth, Air and Water. The natural world fits into these four classifications, whose basic characteristics — the heat of fire, the stability of earth, the changeability of air and the fluidity of water — can be applied to human nature. People with a lot of Fire in their charts (meaning, several planets in the Fire Signs of Aries, Leo or Sagittarius) tend to be hotheaded and warmhearted, for example, while people with lots of Earth such as Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn are usually practical and down-to-earth. The Air Signs of Gemini, Libra or Aquarius are cerebral and expressive while the Water Signs of Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces are emotional, intuitive and sometimes hard to fathom.

Besides the four elements, there are three qualities that influence the signs — Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable. These qualities speak to a person’s general attitude and the way they tackle a project.

Aspects are an essential part of interpreting a birth chart because they describe the exact relationship between two or more planets — a physical relationship that’s specific down to the degree. An astrological chart is mapped out in a full circle of 360 degrees, and aspects occur when planets are zero degrees apart, thirty, sixty and so on.

The Planet This Week: March 18, 2019

Aired Monday, 18 March 2019, 9:00 PM ET

What do the planets have in store for us this week? Happy New Year! Yes, you heard this correctly.

One of the headlines of the year is on Wednesday 20th we will be celebrating the Vernal Equinox. This marks the official start of spring, in the Northern Hemisphere. In the Southern Hemisphere it is the start of autumn. The equinox coincides with the start of the astrological new year and the Sun moving into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac.

Also, this week, there’s a Full Moon in Libra so you will likely notice the quality of your relationships improving thanks to your thoughtful attempts at fairness and compromise. As human beings, we have a strange, but unconscious way of mimicking the behavior of others. When met by a charming smile from a stranger, our faces respond with an equally bright grin. Yawns have the same effect. Try coughing in a large public room full of people – at least a few folks will cough in response.

With those you are closest to, they too will mimic the consideration and respect that you’ve shown them. You’re beginning to see the flavor of your relationships take on a sweeter side. Who can resist a person who treats them with utmost respect, trust, and kindness? Power imbalances may begin to level out, as long as you continue to not only be thoughtful, but also clear about your own expectations.

If you have been working on redecorating your home or office, continue selecting colors, objects, and textures that produce a tranquil environment. Look through a few more catalogs, visit a few more stores, and soon you will have created a space that is worth all the work you put into it.

The Planet This Week: March 25, 2019

Aired Monday, 25 March 2019, 9:00 PM ET

The astro headlines of the week are love planet Venus moving into Pisces, communication planet Mercury turning direct while action planet Mars moves into Gemini.

Under the influence of Venus in Pisces from March 26th until April 20th and depending on where this ingress transits through your birth chart, you could be an incurable romantic. You might be prone to fantasy when it comes to love, seeing the god or goddess in everyone you meet, and thinking that you’ve met your dream partner. Practicality and discrimination go out the window, and you’re willing to sacrifice it all for your ideal love.

Boundaries become more fluid, and it’s harder to tell where you end and your beloved begins. In fact, you probably won’t care, as you long to merge into ecstatic oneness. You might have a tendency to lose yourself in relationship-land and could be quite hedonistic. Illusion and disillusion are the downsides of this dreamy transit. Be sure to get a reality check from a more objective third party before making any long-term commitments.

Mercury finally turns direct in Pisces! This means we make decisions based on feelings rather than logic now. You’re also more sensitive to other people’s feelings, and your decisions could be motivated by compassion. You may not be able to explain how you came to a certain conclusion. Words might elude you now, and you long to express yourself in non-verbal ways.

Finally, action planet Mars moves into Gemini so you may have trouble maintaining focus on anything for very long. Many of us are speaking at a fast pace, or you could dominate conversations by grabbing the microphone without letting someone else have a chance to talk. You’ll be great at going out to get information, but not so good at processing it or making up your mind.

The Planets This Month: April 2019

Aired Monday, 1 April 2019, 9:00 PM ET

April promises to be more settled than what we experienced throughout March. Communication planet Mercury will move from Pisces to Aries which offers more of a faster pace and quick thinking from all. We do need to be careful that we are not jumping into situations too quickly without forethought.

Love planet Venus will also be moving into Aries so there will be a lot of action and energy in social situations. If you’re single and dating this influence is great for new experiences and beginnings. It doesn’t mean relationships will last it simply means there are a lot of experiences to be had.

The Sun will shift from Aries to Taurus so life settles down a little from the hectic and what has oftentimes been chaotic. Taurus is about enjoying life’s simple pleasures and prioritizing quality over quantity.

Expansive Jupiter turns retrograde until August which means take care when traveling or starting a class or course. Philosophical ideals may change during this period. Jupiter is currently in Sagittarius where it has been since November 8th, 2018. Sagittarius is where Jupiter expresses itself most purely. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, luck, and optimism, and Sagittarius is the sign of travel, higher learning, adventure, and philanthropy. Jupiter in Sagittarius offers a welcomed wave of positive energy and optimism regardless if it’s retrograde, or not.

Pluto, planet of change and transformation will turn also turn retrograde in Capricorn until October. Typically, this is not news unless the retrograde happens to trigger a natal planet or point in your birth chart. This means life may unfold in a new direction for many of us during this period.

The Planets This Month: August 2018

August is a rollercoaster ride of important transits this year. The good news is that although the month starts off with a lot of tensions and potential drama, it concludes with two of the most positive weeks we’ve seen for a long while – so hang on in there!

The month starts as it intends to temporarily go on, with an explosively angry Mars-Uranus square on August 1st. On the 6th, a square between the Sun and Jupiter, the planet of excess, makes it even tougher to control emotions. Venus moves into diplomatic Libra the same day, which helps a little, but overall tempers are likely to continue to flare. Uranus adds to the pressure cooker atmosphere, turning retrograde on August 7th and forcing many of us to face our fears.

However, a New Moon and partial Solar Eclipse on August 11th falls in generous Leo, heralding a much more positive shift in energy. By the time Mercury turns direct on August 18th many of us will be feeling much happier. On the 19th, a magical Jupiter-Neptune trine blesses us with enormous abundance, creativity and compassion.

August 25th brings a stunning earth grand trine aspect between the Virgo Sun, Uranus in Taurus and Saturn in Capricorn. This is highly constructive and positive energy, which each of us can use to move forwards. On August 26th, a spiritual and creative Full Moon in Pisces adds to this impetus and just one day later Mars turns direct in can-do Capricorn – so despite a rocky start, August looks set to end on a fantastically upbeat note with the promise of good things to come.

The Planets This Month: December 2018

December opens with a passionate and somewhat volatile feel, as Venus sashays into Scorpio, unleashing plenty of sensual energy but also strong potential for jealousy and obsession. With Mercury turning direct – also in Scorpio – a few days later on December 6th, communication gets slightly easier, but the devil is in the detail. Be sure to pin down exactly what someone means before trusting them. This will be especially important on December 7th, when a confusing Mars-Neptune conjunction makes it easy both to mislead and to be misled.

Fortunately, also on December 7th we have a breezy, optimistic Sagittarius New Moon. Any mistrust which occurs due to misunderstandings can be quickly swept away if there is positive good intent from all parties. Once Mercury shifts back into Sagittarius on December 12th, minor angst should be forgotten, and cosmic energies take an optimistic step forward.

The middle of December is quiet, astrologically speaking. However, a fiery trine between the Sun and Uranus on December 20th does hint at surprises and possibly shocks – it may be the holiday season, but there’s no need to go crazy, especially with finances! The solstice on December 21st marks the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, and the arrival of the Sun in responsible Capricorn. This is a moment to look back at the year which is almost over, and to tie up lose ends ahead of the festivities.

A confusing Mercury-Neptune square may lead to forgetfulness or last-minute hitches on December 24th, but a warm and hospitable Leo Moon ensures that festive goodwill wins out. As 2018 draws to a close, warrior planet Mars arrives “home” in Aries on December 31st – so passions may flare alongside the New Year fireworks.

The Planets This Month: February 2018

What’s in store for this month’s planet and how will they be affecting your sign? The big news of the month is the Solar Eclipse in Aquarius on the 15th. This is part of a cycle that started in 2017 and will be affecting the fixed signs or anyone with planets in fixed signs – Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.

Considering that Solar Eclipses bring about radical change, the fact that this is in the sign of rebellion and progress amplifies the possibilities. Aquarius isn’t one for gradual change or for asking permission from superiors. Aquarius desires what’s good for everyone – whether they know it or not yet. With both the Sun and Moon in Aquarius, this Solar Eclipse may bring sudden, unexpected, and radical changes, particularly on a national or even global scale.

On February 10th, love planet Venus moves into Pisces where it will stay until March 6th. During this time many of us may be incurable romantics. We might be prone to fantasy when it comes to love, seeing the god or goddess in everyone we meet, and thinking that we’ve met our dream partner. Practicality and discrimination go out the window, and we’re willing to sacrifice it all for our ideal love.

On the 17th communication planet Mercury moves into Pisces while the radiant Sun moves into Pisces on the 18th. During the remainder of the month look for positive ways to transcend the ordinary, like creative expression, meditation, yoga and other spiritual practices. This could be a great time to go on a retreat, or otherwise withdraw from socializing and busyness. If you don’t have a positive outlet for escape, you might be tempted to fall into the more negative expression of Pisces and be prone to addictions, illusions or avoidance.

The Planets This Month: February 2019

This month promises to be memorable and not necessarily in a good way. The month starts with a very intense Mars-Pluto square. This destructive energy is about unconscious power plays, manipulations and outright control-grabbing, life can get kinda dicey with this intense and often rageful transit. Hurt feelings can quickly turn into rage so take care as there is more volatile energy mid-month when Mars once again will be wrecking havoc when it conjuncts unpredictable Uranus. We just don’t care what others think right now and our speech and behavior show it. We could say anything — the more shocking, the better. When taken to the extreme this energy can become violent so it’s best to tread lightly at this time.

Thankfully, and just in time for Valentine’s Day warrior Mars will move into gentle Taurus so the intensity of earlier in the month begin to settle down. With this transit slow and steady may be our motto. Physically, many of us will be strong and sturdy.

A New Moon in Aquarius on February 4th switches attention to innovations, networking and community interests, but this very busy cosmic opening to the month may well have left tempers frayed and confidence ebbing.

There are also many fortuitous influences this month too. An auspicious Sun-Jupiter sextile bring hope, joy and optimism on the 7th. What’s important now is the broader vision, the higher principle; don’t bother with the little, troublesome details that can bog us down. On the 19th there’s a Full Moon Supermoon in Virgo. The Virgo Full Moon shows you how to keep things running in top shape. A little more work from you ensures effective results and benefits.

The Planets This Month: January 2018

What do the planets have in store this month? The year and month started off supercharged with a Super Full Moon in Cancer. Emotions were running high and expectations set for the year ahead. On top of the Full Moon unpredictable Uranus turned direct after months of traveling retrograde. Sudden events and unexpected occurrences were experienced by many.

Communication planet Mercury moves into Capricorn where it will team up immediately with somber Saturn and then with intense Pluto. We all need to take care with what we say at this time.

January 16th, there’s a New Moon in Capricorn so it’s a good time to make long-term plans and review the support and structures in our lives. This is especially true as the planetary heavyweights Saturn and Pluto are also in Capricorn. The following day, love planet Venus moves into socialable Aquarius so friendships, groups and social media will be important. The Sun follows suit soon after and moves into Aquarius on the 19th so thinking outside the box will come easily to many of us.

Towards to end of the month, warrior Mars moves into Sagittarius were it will be until March 17th. During this time, many of us will broaden horizons and approach life as a daring adventure. We may be constantly on the move, restless to explore new vistas and impatient with the daily grind. Personal freedom will be a high priority and we’ll feel an urge to break free from any stifling relationship or situation. “Don’t fence me in” could be the theme song of this period.

January ends on an intense note with a Lunar Eclipse in Leo. There’ll be a focus on abundance and generosity so we need to invite goodness, grace and generosity into our life with an open heart.

The Planets This Month: June 2018

Following a rather heavy-going May, much of June’s planetary energy is light, creative and fun, so for many of us it’s a time to shake off the stress and to enjoy some of life’s pleasures instead. Gentle Venus kicks off proceedings on June 1st and 2nd with two lovely trines, first to Jupiter in Scorpio and then to Neptune in Pisces. This energy allows imagination to flow freely and brings a spiritual edge to everyday activity too. Venus switches to a darker mood on June 5th however, in opposition to Pluto – this is a day to be careful of dangerous liaisons, illicit love affairs and unhealthy obsessions.

Mid-June is a fun interlude with lots to offer for those who like to party. Mercury arrives in Cancer on June 12th, helping us to speak from the heart and to engage those around us with honesty and sincerity. The Gemini New Moon on June 13th is a flirtatious vibe, perfect for meeting new people, dating or attending special social events. On the same day, Venus sashays into Leo, sprinkling some showbiz glitter over affairs of the heart and reminding us all that it’s OK to be creative, generous and larger than life.

Neptune turns retrograde on June 18th, so this is a moment to watch out for fakery, scams and invasions of privacy. A combative air on June 21st comes courtesy of the Venus-Mars opposition, which stretches some relationships but adds spice to others. Once Mars turns retrograde on June 26th, however, there’s a pause in the energy. Instead of acting, think. It’s particularly important at this time to re-evaluate your approach to controversial or uncomfortable subjects. June does draw to a close on a more serious and sober note, given the Capricorn Full Moon on the 28th – but it will have been a fun ride for most of us along the way.

March is already upon us! The main event in March is unpredictable Uranus will move into Taurus for the final time this cycle. We can expect financial shakeups and sudden events. The fixed signs may find life brings some unusual and unexpected happenings and encounters. Uranus moved into Taurus on May 15th, 2018 and gave us a small taste of what to expect for the next seven years.

For the first time in 2019, communication planet Mercury will be turning retrograde in the final degree of the zodiac. For many of us, in particular, the mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces there will be confusion and misunderstandings. Redoing, reviewing and anything else that starts with RE will be the best way to utilize this energy.

Love planet Venus moves into Aquarius which is a great time for friendships and connecting with like minded people both online and offline. For the air signs – Gemini, Libra and Aquarius this is a month where your social needs will be met.

At the end of March, Venus will then move into sweet and gentle Pisces, a sign it likes. From this time through April romance will be the air. The water signs – Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces will get a big amp up in the love department. It’s also a great time for boosting friendships and pursuing creative endeavors. The key is to do something you love in a creative way. It’s also a good time for charitable, compassionate and caring causes. Go help out at an animal shelter or old folk’s home.

March is a time for giving and reaching out to others. Giving ourselves selflessly.

The Planets This Month: May 2018

Join astrologer, Kelli Fox, to find out how May’s planets will be affecting your sign. May’s big astrological news is the movement of Uranus, that most rebellious of planets, in Taurus, for a seven-year stint. On a global scale, we can expect to see tumultuous changes in our financial systems and perhaps in our weather systems too. Taurus rules the earth so an environmental catastrophe of some kind is not out of the question here, but any such event will prove to be a catalyst for good in the longer term. On a more personal level, each sign will feel the shock of change and upheaval in the area of life which Uranus now begins to transit: we would do well to remember that sometimes things must be torn down in order for something new to grow in its place.

Away from Uranus, May begins on a secretive and perhaps rather manipulative note for many, with two difficult squares on May 7th, between Mercury and Pluto and then between Venus and Neptune. The very next day, a difficult Sun-Jupiter opposition brings pride and ego into the mix, with potentially sudden consequences. Honesty is important at this time, and motives should be for the highest good.

Mid-month Uranus related rumblings are softened to some extent by the arrival of Venus in nurturing Cancer on May 19th, and by a very spiritual Jupiter-Neptune trine on May 25th. If we seek to solve our problems via love and compassion instead of via anger and force, possibilities will open up. May draws to a close with a positive and adventurous Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 29th; this is energy which helps us to think radically different thoughts and to be confident that things will work out OK.

The Planets This Month: November 2018

The first week of November has a healing theme: two beautiful trines, firstly between Jupiter and Chiron and then between the Sun and Neptune both encourage compassion, sincerity and trust. A New Moon in Scorpio on November 7th continues this theme, allowing emotions to be aired and positively channeled. However, when Uranus retrogrades back into warrior-like Aries on November 6th, attitudes may become regressive and dogmatic, so we will need to guard against overly entrenched opinions.

Jupiter arrives in Sagittarius for the first time in 11 years on November 8th, bringing a huge upsurge in positivity, generosity and optimism. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, luck, and optimism, and Sagittarius is the sign of travel, higher learning, adventure, and philanthropy. Considering the heaviness of many of 2018’s transits, Jupiter in Sagittarius offers a welcomed wave of positive energy and optimism.

Another bold sign change on November 15th also signals positive change: when Mars moves into Pisces, many of us can channel our energies towards the common good with much greater success than before. Making amends for the past is an important part of healing the future, and when Mercury turns retrograde on November 16th, we have a chance to do just that.

A difficult Mars-Jupiter square on November 19th warns us not to over-promise on what we cannot truly deliver. Any negativity from such actions is swiftly swept away, however, when the Sun breezes into Sagittarius on November 22nd. That same day, a Gemini Full Moon brings humor and a playful vibe, and this light-heartedness continues until November 25th when the Sun conjuncts Jupiter – this is traditionally thought to be one of the luckiest days of the year.

October this year is a time for reflection and repair for most signs. Powerful energies bring forceful opinions and actions to the fore, prompting each of us to figure out how to protect ourselves from such aggression.

Interpersonal relationships are in the spotlight, especially once Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio on October 5th. This is a chance to rekindle old relationships, if desired, or to finally address, confront and heal the issues remaining from previous toxic encounters.

Here’s what each sign can expect this month: Aries relationships and intimacy are your key focus this October. Taurus: there are indications that this month you’re not harnessing your ideas in as practical a manner as normal. Gemini: your confidence levels are high this October, which is good to see. Cancer: adopting a can-do approach will see you safely through October’s variable influences. Leo: success this October is all about getting your message across: being clear in what you want to say and saying it well. Virgo: managing your resources properly – both time and money – is essential as October gets underway. Libra: this month is all about recognising your inherent talents and abilities – and making the most of them! Scorpio: the difficult Mercury-Pluto square on October 2nd prompts some soul searching over how you work with your soul group. Sagittarius: being expected or required to fit in causes you some angst this October, as you would much prefer to go your own way and do your own thing. Capricorn: get set for a hard-working October which should see lots of progress being made towards your professional and personal goals. Aquarius: October looks set to be a very educational month for you, Aquarius. Pisces: October brings mixed fortunes for your sign, Pisces.

The Planets This Month: September 2018

September begins with an air of thoughtfulness and hard work. Mercury moves into Virgo on September 5th so rational thinking is favored over subjective feelings. A day later, Saturn turns direct in determined Capricorn, so it’s very much back to business. After an industrious week, some of us may be prone to some negative escapism when the Sun opposes Neptune on September 7th, but we’re making progress and that’s what counts.

The New Moon in Virgo on the 9th, turns us toward more serious matters after a period of playful indulgences has passed. Many of us may be mulling over the nuts and bolts of our daily life. Work may be a concern or perhaps a health matter, or even how to our lives more efficiently. Also, on this day, Venus moves into jealous, manipulative and sometimes vengeful Scorpio. The following day, warrior mars moves into Aquarius to complete a very long cycle that started in May.

With Mercury opposing Neptune on September 13th, there’s a lot of confusion in the air and it’s difficult to be sure of people’s motives. Mars squares up to Uranus for the last time this year on September 18th, so tempers may flare once more, especially over love.

Fortunately, the last ten days of the month have a much more positive vibe. Mercury moves into Libra on September 21st bringing us a light-hearted and laid-back approach to life. The Sun follows suit the next day, heralding the Fall Equinox, a time of balance and harmony. An Aries Full Moon on September 24th is indicative of fresh optimism, enthusiasm and a sense of fun. It is square to Saturn, however – a gentle reminder that while we’re enjoying life, we do still have responsibilities.

The Planets This Week: April 23, 2018

What do the planets have in store for us this week? Love planet Venus moves into Gemini so many of us may be extremely sociable and form a wide variety of friends. The important thing at this time is to keep your connections alive and flourishing. With this transit, many of us may discover a love of learning and could be curious to find out about many different subjects; in fact, no one will be able to keep us from learning about something that interests us! In romance, we may find ourselves to be quite playful and flirtatious.

If you’re single, dating several people at the same time will not be unusual for you. At this time, we must be extremely careful with our declarations of love, because although we could feel extremely ‘in love’ in the moment, we may not feel that way at all when we wake up the next day.

Also this week, transformational Pluto turns retrograde until September 30th. Pluto is all about personal growth. Remember, you can’t grow all the time without pausing occasionally to absorb and integrate the lessons you’ve been learning. Pluto Retrograde periods are perfect for this. Personal evolution is a two-steps-forward, one-step-back process, and the pace is determined by the direct and retrograde motion of Pluto.

Occasionally the Pluto retrograde period is characterized by painful loss, or events and circumstances in your life that are far beyond your control. In many ways, Pluto represents factors that are much larger than any individual; it is the planet of human evolution. But for most of us, most of the time, Pluto retrograde periods offer us the chance to delve deeply into our own inner resources and determine what is most important, when all is said and done.

The Planets This Week: August 13, 2018

The astro headline of the week is Mars retrograding back into Capricorn while the dreaded Mercury retrograde finally turns direct at the end of the week.

While Mars is in Capricorn and depending on how this influence affects your birth chart, you’re driven to succeed. You’ve got the discipline and focus to achieve your ambitions, and you’re not afraid of hard work. Success is a high priority for you now, and you’re willing to do whatever it takes to get to the top. In fact, you might have a tendency to be more calculating than usual, and at worst, people could accuse you of being ruthless. Be sure to consider other people’s feelings in your quest for success, otherwise you could find yourself “lonely at the top.”

During this transit, you want tangible, measurable results — concrete evidence of your efforts. You’re a paragon of pragmatism now and aren’t likely to make a move unless you’ve thought through all the possible outcomes. You might have a tendency to being too cautious or even fearful, missing out on a golden opportunity. Trust your instincts to guide you toward cautious risks.

Also, Mercury changes direction which means we can all breathe a sigh of relief as it starts to pick up pace once again in the sign of Leo. Depending on how this transit influences you personally, you may be great fun to be around, stimulating warm and lively conversations and interacting easily with other people. For this reason you have the potential to be quite popular and may receive many party invitations, since you’ll light up the scene no matter where you are.

The Planets This Week: August 20, 2018

The big news of the week is the Sun moving into Virgo! This show is dedicated to all you Virgos! While the Sun is in Virgo you could find yourself working hard to improve yourself and serve others. You might become more critical, and possibly judgmental, as you notice all the things that could be better, both in your own life and in the world. You have a strong desire to make a positive difference and are willing to dig in and get busy to make it happen.

We’ll be a paragon of pragmatism now and aren’t likely to make a move unless you’ve thought through all the possible outcomes. We might have a tendency to being too cautious or even fearful, missing out on a golden opportunity. We need to trust our instincts to guide us toward cautious risks.

Mars turned retrograde in Aquarius on June 26th and continued its backward movement in Capricorn until August 27th. This retrograde period could have indicated anger and temper issues, and these feelings may have been turned inward instead of being openly expressed. This could have led to all sorts of unfortunate effects, including temporary depression. Initiative may be thwarted during this time but the good news is that plans and progress can start to move full steam ahead!

Also, this week, there’s a Full Moon in Pisces. During this time, we may be feeling more compassionate about the way we’ve touched other people’s hearts. Romance is especially highlighted with this bright moon, so make sure to indulge in plenty of candlelight and kisses. Great joy can come from spending time with those you love. As the moon begins to wane, many of us might want to spend time alone in meditation, getting in touch with ourselves on a deeper level than we usually make time for. We may have some marvelous psychic visions that can guide us in the future. It’s a great time to replenish our spirit for the next cycle ahead.

The Planets this Week: August 27 - September 2, 2017

The Sun is now in Virgo where it will be until September 22nd.

While the Sun is in Virgo, and depending on how this transit affects your birth chart, you could find yourself working hard to improve yourself and serve others.

The Planets This Week: August 6, 2018

The cosmic headline of the week is the intense Solar Eclipse in Leo! We also have love planet Venus moving into Libra and unpredictable Uranus turning retrograde in Taurus.

The third Solar Eclipse of 2018 happens on August 11th with the Sun at nearly 19 degrees Leo. Leo calls us to fulfill our heart’s desires and fully express who we are as individuals, without shame and without a second thought. We are to celebrate what makes us all special. The eclipse creates a sense of urgency to do this, though little with Leo feels urgent — more like dramatic.

Also, this week, love planet Venus moves into Libra where it will be until September 9th. Under the influence of Venus in Libra your social life could be in full swing. Gracious manners come naturally to you now, and your charms are irresistible.

If you’re single, you may long to be in partnership, and might even compromise your ideals, preferring to be coupled up than to be alone. You’re also more likely to see the good in everyone, so you’re less critical of potential mates. If you’re in a relationship, this can be a sweet time for rekindling the romance and bringing out the best in each other.

Uranus in Taurus will turn retrograde on Tuesday and will shake up our ideas of money, property, and values, possibly transforming these things, whether we want it or not. Uranus is the planet of unpredictability and will be in Taurus for the next seven years. What make it more intense right now is that it is forming a tense square to angry Mars which is currently retrograde!

The Planets This Week: December 17, 2018

This show is dedicated to Capricorn as the Sun moves into Capricorn on December 21st which coincides with the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.

Under the influence of the Capricorn Sun and depending on how this transit affects the other planets in your chart, you won’t have much time for nonsense. There’ll be too much to get done, and the inner pressure to do it will be too great.

You’ll want nothing more than to be a success, however you define it. For some that means succeeding in the world of finance and business, board rooms and banks.

During this period, your administrative capacity, willingness to work long hours and sense of responsibility all but ensure that you’ll meet your goals and most probably exceed them.

You’ll also have a strong inner parent, one who will be stern, demanding, and unforgiving. There’s an old saying about the Capricorn influence: you’re old when you’re young, and young when you’re old. If you can achieve this during this time you’ll have the best of both worlds: success and self-respect that you’ll earn through hard work and achievement, yet the ability to remain youthful and flexible.

We also have a Full Moon in Cancer this week. During the Cancer Full Moon, you can develop a warmer, more loving spirit in your home and with people you’re close to. You may feel a sense of contentment with the quality of people you have in your life. Steps you had taken during the New Moon to garner support from the people who are most important to you may begin to show.

The Planets this Week: December 18, 2017

What do the planets have in store for this week? The astro headline of the week is responsible Saturn moving into its home sign of Capricorn where it will be until December 2020. It has not been in Capricorn since 1991.

Saturn restricts, disciplines, and wears away. It doesn’t obliterate, like Pluto, or suddenly, like Uranus. Saturn erodes over time. Saturn isn’t necessarily a destroyer, though. It also strengthens and solidifies whatever passes its test. Saturn is a teacher. It’s not the cool teacher, giving out As to everyone (Jupiter). Saturn makes you learn and earn.

The sign of Capricorn is determined, ambitious, hard-working, and practical. Saturn in Capricorn is a leader, but it leads by example. Everything it has is useful and earned. During this transit, we may see a global return to focusing on achieving real, practical goals. Also this week, there’s a New Moon. The Sagittarius New Moon awakens an inner need for many kinds of stimulation. Having recently completed a contemplative period, your body craves for some excitement now. You may find yourself daydreaming about travel to foreign lands, or maybe tackling a philosophical conundrum.

On Thursday the Sun moves into Capricorn where it will be until January 19th. While the Sun is in Capricorn, and depending on how it influences your natal chart, you may feel driven to succeed. You could find yourself working long hours to achieve your goals and bring long-term projects to completion. You might not have much time for your personal life, and might even neglect your health. In your drive to get the job done, be sure not to sacrifice too much. Make sure that what you’re working for is your definition of success, and not someone else’s.

The Planets This Week: December 3, 2018

Overall, December is a fairly quiet month and this week is perhaps the busiest. We have Mercury retrograding back into Scorpio, Venus moving back into Scorpio, a New Moon in Sagittarius and Mercury finally turning direct after being retrograde since November 16th.

The retrograde Mercury in Scorpio is a powerful influence that can throw your reasoning ability right out the door. Although your perceptions may be quite keen, the words that stream from your mouth indicate a less than rational mind. If you’re in a partnership, this could be an excellent time to deepen your bond and strengthen your sense of trust. But you may need to work through some of the shadow sides of Scorpio to get there — jealousy, abandonment and betrayal. The more you’re willing to expose yourself by sharing your deepest thoughts and feelings, the better your chances for regenerating your relationship and transforming old patterns.

While Venus is in Scorpio and depending on how this transit affects your natal chart, you may find yourself longing for deep intimacy and intense passion. You don’t have much patience for superficial connections or casual dating, preferring to relate to a few close friends and one significant other. When you get involved, you want to give all of yourself and reveal the very core of your being.

The Sagittarius New Moon awakens an inner need for many kinds of stimulation. Having recently completed a contemplative period, your body craves for some excitement now. You may find yourself daydreaming about travel to foreign lands, or maybe tackling a philosophical conundrum. Boredom is an issue that has your fingers tapping restlessly. What are you to do about it?

The Planets this Week: December 4, 2017

What do the planets have in store for us this week? The astro headlines of the week are the Full Moon in Gemini and Mars moving into Scorpio.

During the Gemini Full Moon our quest for knowledge can be personally fulfilling once the answers come to us and we get a chance to show off just a little. Many of us can be rather talkative and very social, full of wit and charm. Make sure that we spend time in the company of others, for our astute opinions should not go unexpressed. We will appreciate our independence more fully during this time. It would be better to schedule activities with friends instead of romantic dates because we may not feel particularly open to the burdens that love relationships can sometimes entail. We may feel the most happy with an excellent book in front of our face.

Also, warrior planet Mars moves into Scorpio where it will stay until January 26th. During this transit we’ve got the willpower and stamina to do whatever we set our mind to. Once we dig in, we’re willing to work extremely hard to reach our goals, overcoming any obstacle that gets in our way. We’ve got the strength and persistence to make deep and lasting changes now.

With an incredible intensity of focus, many of us will cut through superficial layers to get to the core or root of any situation, not satisfied with merely treating the symptoms. We might find that we take things apart just to see how they work, and we might also do this on an emotional level, deconstructing people’s words and actions to uncover their hidden motivations and desires.
