Uzo is a former Royal Marines Commando and Special Boat Service (R) Operator. He has over 18 years of military service in both the Commandos, Special Forces and the Army. In the later stages of his military career he joined the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Directorate as a Specialist Physiotherapy Officer. He has seen service in Afghanistan twice with UK Special Forces and RAF 903 Expeditionary Air Wing (Tornado) providing deployed physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to mission critical personnel. Uzo has a broad range of experience in physiotherapy, rehabilitation and leadership. He has served at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court and as Officer in Charge of Rehabilitation at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Uzo has a Masters of Science Degree in Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Sports Science and Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy. The 45-year-old managed to complete the marathon in 5 hours, 39 minutes and 17 seconds - beating the previous record holder Michael Barker who ran it in 5 hours and 43 minutes in 2016. Mr Grainge took on the challenge to show people that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
