25 May 2019Episode 7: The Ethereal Visions Illuminated Tarot Deck Review00:52:48
In this episode, we take a break from learning card meanings to review an Art Nouveau style tarot deck with plenty of gold detailing by Matt Hughes, available on amazon at the time of this recording for $21.56. If you are considering whether or not it’s time to add another deck to your collection, you’ll definitely enjoy this episode, in which I thoroughly go through each card in the deck, giving my honest first impressions and comparing the imagery in this deck to that of the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith cards. Please be sure to check out my Instagram for some select images from this deck so you can get a better feel for the art style and general vibe for these cards.  Rest assured, we will be continuing our exploration of the Tarot card meanings in the next episode, where we’ll tackle the court cards. I hope you find the episode both entertaining and informative, and, as always, that you enjoy the show! He is thrilled to have settled into his new home to an extent that allows for podcasting, and just in time for Halloween / Samhain! What could be better? Join us as Alacrael counts down his lift of top 11 spookiest cards in the Tarot, briefly discusses mediumship and contacting the dead, and delivers two oracle card readings from the Halloween Oracle (by Stacey Demarco) on manifesting strategies for the elements and how the end of 2020 may look for us. 31 Mar 2020Episode 15: Spread Creation00:55:09
In this episode, we will be going over a listener-selected topic: spread creation! How do we make up new tarot spreads? How do we incorporate them into our own practice? Is a more structured approach better than a more unstructured approach? We'll touch on all this and more, and we’ll finish with my casting a custom tarot spread as an example which hopefully reveals a timely message for us. 21 Jan 2021Episode 18: Card Pairs00:48:37
In this episode, we return from yet another period of inactivity, following a rather tumultuous beginning to 2021 for many of us. In Episode 18 of the Alacrael Tarot Podcast, we dive deeper into the concept of card pairs and a couple of methods which can be employed to interpret them. Whether you take an approach more based on the key-word meanings of the individual cards within the pair, or combine them on a more artistic level in your mind's eye, the best approach to interpreting card pairs (or any other element of a tarot spread, for that matter) is to leaven the standardized meanings with your own living intuition. 13 May 2019Episode 3: Tarot Meanings, The Cups 1-1000:47:42
We finally begin to delve into the card meanings, though the progression through the deck I will be following is probably somewhat non-standard when compared to other Tarot teachers’ methods.  It’s my podcast, however, so I guess that means I get to make the rules. So we will be learning the Pip cards first, followed by the Court Cards, and then, finally, the Major Arcana or the Trump Cards. This episode will cover 1 through 10 of the Suit of Cups, my personal favorite suit, and from there, we will move onto Pentacles, then Wands, and then, finally, Swords. I hope you find the episode both entertaining and informative, and that you enjoy the show! 13 May 2019Episode 6: Tarot Meanings, Swords 1-1000:45:06
We finish our investigation - at least, our first investigation - into the Pip cards by establishing our keywords for the suit of Swords, the other masculine suit beside the wands. I confess that Swords, for me, is the scariest suit in the Tarot deck, but also explain how their messages can be very direct and clear in addition to cutting--forgive the pun--and a little foreboding. I hope you find the episode both entertaining and informative, and that you enjoy the show! 05 Sep 2019Episode 11: The Major Arcana 0-501:00:05
In this episode, we finally begin our study of the Major Arcana—hooray! But we don’t get terribly far. Lol. We make it all the way to The Hierophant—card 5 of the Major Arcana. A good deal of our discussion focuses on the Empress and Emperor cards as well. Some of these beginning cards in the Majors carry really weighty meanings and significance, so I felt it was important to spend adequate time on them before continuing on the rest of the Fool’s Journey. Rest assured, we will pick it up again very soon! 13 May 2019Episode 5: Tarot Meanings, Wands 1-1000:33:06
We continue with our study of the pip cards, discussing the Wands, our first masculine suit, often associated with passion, creative energy, and fire. I point out that for me, this is the suit of leadership as well, though not necessarily of successful leadership--more on that when we get to the court cards--I hope you find the episode both entertaining and informative, and that you enjoy the show! In this episode, we continue our study of the Major Arcana by going over cards 6 - 10: The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, and The Wheel of Fortune. We discuss the imagery and symbolism in the artwork as well as the standard meanings generally ascribed to these cards. 01 Jun 2020Episode 16: Astrology01:24:34
In this episode, we depart from our standard tarot content in favor of a more peripheral topic, but one which I still think has a great deal of value for us as readers — Astrology. Have you ever wondered how horoscopes are written? Do you incorporate astrological meanings into your tarot practice? Have you ever taken a look at your birth chart or had it interpreted? All these topics lie ahead in a nice, long discussion geared toward the beginner or intermediate student of astrology. Whether this is something you’ve been curious about for a while, or a modality you had not yet considered for your own practice, I invite you along as we dive into a realm of stars, signs, and planets!
