09 Apr 2021Episode 4: Little Nicky01:33:13
We find ourselves in the even deeper south as we probe the Sandlerverse this month. This film is full of all the nuance one would expect from the lynch-pin of this entire endeavor, but maybe... just maybe subtlety isn't exactly what audiences were expecting from a comedy film in the year 2000? Either way it establishes that Heaven and Hell are very very real things here.

Villains are the theme as we kick off Season Three of The Adam Sandler Cinematic Universe Podcast, not necessarily films where Adam portrays a villain, but more those films that have a certain infamy in the greater realm of popular culture, and there is no greater place to start such an exploration than "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry."

11 Mar 2022Episode 16: That's My Boy02:07:55

For our third film in our Villains series we take a look at a film who's content and box office earnings would certainly classify it as such, but when your main character is so kind, accepting, and charismatic it becomes difficult to actually view it that way. That's right we are exploring the depths of the Andy Samberg / Adam Sandler two hander from 2012: That's My Boy.

Will our research find that it is more than deserving of the title of a villain or could it possibly unearth a story of redemption in this film about fathers and sons and even more importantly will it find a place in our star charts of a shared Adam Sandler Cinematic Universe?

08 Apr 2022Episode 17: Funny People02:06:12

Our third season theme of villains continues with the collaboration between long time friends Judd Apatow and Adam Sandler: Funny People, a film that ends up being a lot more prophetic than people may have given it credit for when it first released in 2009.

Can your curators find a place for this film in their personal star chart of a shared Adam Sandler Cinematic Universe or will switching in Jonah Hill for Allen Covert in a small but important role prove to be too tall of a hurdle to clear?

06 May 2022Episode 18: The Ridiculous 601:49:12

Join us as we share our thoughts on The Ridiculous 6 in an effort to see if this controversial film still manages to find a place in our shared cinematic universe of Adam Sandler, or if this satirical spin on the westerns of old is that bridge too far.

08 Jul 2022Episode 21: Big Daddy02:07:24

We kick off Season Four, A Season For the Fans, by finally examining the most requested film for us to cover since we started this endeavor… Big Daddy.

Does Adam’s most profitable live-action film earn its spot on our star charts or will the, often derided, sentimentality prove too large a hurdle for your co-curators to clear?

Welcome to the fourth season premiere episode of our expedition to properly chart  our shared cinematic universe of the films of Adam Sandler. We hop you enjoy

12 Aug 2022Episode 22: You Don't Mess with the Zohan02:11:51

We continue season four, our season for the fans, with an examination of a film that neither of your co-curators had ever seen that is constantly brought to our attention as a film that must  be addressed in our efforts to chart a shared cinematic universe of the films of Adam Sandler: 2008’s “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan”

Will this combination of the comedic sensibilities of Sandler, Smigel, and Apatow directed by Dennis Dugan prove too satirical to hold a place in the universe as we have cultivated it so far? The only way to answer that question is to settle in and listen as Devon and Sejohn willfully ignore the advice of the title and mess with the Zohan.

09 Sep 2022Episode 23: Reign Over Me02:01:44

We examine Mike Binder's "Reign Over Me" and whether or not it has a place in our shared Adam Sandler Cinematic Universe as Season Four a season for the fans continues.

Along the way we share our theories as to why this film came up so frequently in the fan requests for us to watch and discuss that while it will always be remembered as Adam Sandler's 9/11 movie how this film represents an anthology of grieving set against the aftermath of the attack on the World Trade Center

Be warned this is a heavy film that explores some very heavy topics, and while we are able to find and focus on those moments that can be celebrated... Listener discretion is advised.

14 Oct 2022Episode 24: Bedtime Stories01:43:51

This month we continue Season Four, a season for the fans, by looking at Adam Sandler’s first and as of recording only collaboration with Walt Disney Pictures, the Adam Shankman directed “Bedtime Stories.”

Will your curators be able to tell the difference between a organically grown Adam Sandler film and the genetically modified organism of a movie that Disney is so often accused of producing in the pursuit of the all-mighty dollar? What’s more, if they are able to discern an abnormality in flavor or feel what effect, if any will that have on how they place amongst the star charts of their shared cinematic universe?

The only way to know for certain is strap in and listen.

In our season for the fans season finale because you the fans demanded it, we snuggle in for a lovely night of holiday viewing with Nora Ephron’s 1994 film “Mixed Nuts”

Will the delightful soupçon of Sandler on display in this ensemble piece be enough to convince your curators that it has a place in our shared cinematic universe or will he get lost in the shuffle of the amazing comedic and acting talent on display?

The only way to know for sure is to listen.

Thanks again for a fantastic season inspired by and for the fans. Look forward to seeing you all again for Season Five!

13 Jan 2023Episode 27: Mr. Deeds02:25:59

Welcome to the first episode of season five of the Adam Sandler Cinematic Universe podcast, where the theme is Reboots, Remakes, and Re-dos.

It’s a brand new frontier we are hoping to conquer this season and we;re learning on the fly. Strap yourselves in and come along for the ride as we not only debate whether or not these films have a place in our shared cinematic universe but also determine the best way to measure an Adam Sandler remake against its original counterpart.

To kick things off with our gross frostbitten foot we examine “Mr. Deeds” the remake of Frank Capra’s 1936 classic “Mr. Deeds Goes to Town.”

Can an Adam Sandler film that owes so much of its structure to another film from cinematic history find a place amongst our star charts?  You’ll have to listen to find out.

10 Feb 2023Episode 28: The Longest Yard02:13:15

We continue season five’s theme of Reboots, Remakes, and Re-dos with the 2005 revival of “The Longest Yard.”

In what may be one of the most faithful remakes ever released in the history of cinema, we watch Adam Sandler join with Burt Reynolds, the star of the original, to modernize the themes and stakes for a new generation of viewers.

It’s a herculean task determining if this remake is worthy of inclusion in our version of The Adam Sandler Cinematic Universe, and one that we admittedly might not be completely able to tackle, so you’ll have to listen to find out if we are able to succeed or if this ends with a turnover on downs.

10 Mar 2023Episode 29: Anger Management02:03:08

We continue our journey into the world of Adam Sandler Reboots, Remakes, and Re-Dos in this months episode  by looking at the film that would later be remade as an FX original series starring Charlie Sheen 2003’s “Anger Management”

In a double whammy since both this film and last month’s were both directed by Peter Segal we decided to hold off on passing judgement on “The Longest Yards” until we watched and collected the data this month to make sure we had all the facts before making our decision.

Will we be able to compartmentalize our personal feelings towards this film to observe without bias? I guess you’ll just have to listen to find out.

14 Apr 2023Episode 30: Coneheads01:56:36

We continue this season’s theme of Reboots, Remakes, and Re-Do’s with a film that just so happens to be all three 1993’s “Coneheads” starring Dan Akyroyd, Jane Curtin, and Laraine Newman while introducing Michelle Burke.

Could the third film inspired by a Saturday Night Live sketch turn out to be one of the most important and influential films discussed during our journeys map our Cinematic Universe even in spite of the fact that only featuring a few grain of Sandler?

You'll have to listen to find out.

12 May 2023Episode 31: Airheads01:36:58

Concluding the double features of head themed titles and to help honor Brendan Fraser History Month, which we are celebrating over on our sister podcast “The Say Report,” this episode we support the season five theme of Reboots, Remakes, and Re-Dos by remaking our episode on the 1994 film “Airheads” that stars Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, and of course the reason we are all here… Adam Sandler.

Does this film have what it takes to find a place in our shared cinematic universe or is it so uniquely of its time that it is destined to drift endlessly through the void of entertainment desiring for its message to be heard?

There is only one way to find out and that is to strap in and join us on our journey.

09 Jun 2023Episode 32: Just Go With It... Again01:51:55

Wrapping up our Season Five theme of Reboots, Remakes, and Re-dos we take the time to re-examine the seventh film we assessed on our journey to create our own shared cinematic universe of the film’s of Adam Sandler 2011’s “Just Go With It.”

It being the first film to judged after our core six films that we knew composed the foundation of what we were setting out to build, Sejohn was fearful we may not have given it a fair shot so it is back in our crosshairs for a second chance.

As a bonus the film itself is a remake of the 1969 film “Cactus Flower” so it fits nicely with the rest of the films that had their moment in the spotlight during season five.

Thank you for joining us on this journey through the Sandler Reboots, Remakes, and Re-dos and we’ll see you back here next month for the Sandler Sequels.

We return to Season Seven’s Netflix Follies to discuss a film all about the danger and rewards of making it big in 1990’s era Hollywood as we watch Adam Sandler step into the character of “Sandy Wexler”

Does this film with its myriad of celebrity cameos and testimonials have the talent needed to find a place in the shared Cinematic Universe we’ve been cultivating over the past three years? Or is there just that certain undefinable something that keeps it from finding a membership in the ASCU Country Club?
