13 Nov 2024 | A shark more deadly than Jaws? | 00:33:31
We're gonna need a bigger boat! With the third issue of Battle Action out now, Molch-R talks to writer Steve White and artist John McCrea about their one-shot story featuring the infamous shark from the pages of Action. Hook Jaw is the murderous great white shark, created by Pat Mills and Geoff Kemp, that debuted in Action in 1976. A 'dead crib' of the movie Jaws but with a hook lodged in its lower jaw, Hook Jaw is the scourge of the seas – a comic strip so violent, with frequent dismemberments and maulings, that it helped bring down the censors on Action. The latest issue of Battle Action sees White and McCrea join Garth Ennis and Keith Burns in another issue packed with thrilling action! Get it from your local comic shop or check out the details here! Don't forget that you can download the 2000 AD app, where all the latest titles from Rebellion can be found at the tap of a screen! 02 Apr 2025 | Torunn Grøenbekk on the Soviet 'Night Witches' – In Orbit Every Wednesday | 00:34:30
Battle Action #8 is out now and Molch-R & KLO-E are joined by writer Torunn Grønbekk to talk about her 'Nina Petrova and the Angels of Death'. There's diversions aplenty – and some bad language – as they touch on everything from history, Hitler's secret s*x life, and trying to paint World War Two bi-planes! Using wooden Polikarpov Po-2 biplanes, these Soviet all-female bomber crews harrassed Nazi soldiers on the Eastern Front of World War Two, who dubbed them ‘Nachthexen’ – the Night Witches. In her latest 'Nina Petrova' story for Battle Action, Grønbekk and artist Patrick Goddard revisit the risks and heroism of these celebrated but little-known aviatrixes. 14 Dec 2016 | Real Roy of the Rovers Stuff: Barrie Tomlinson | 00:56:48
Barrie Tomlinson isn't one of the names at the forefront of histories of 2000 AD, but his influence on British comics for 30 years cannot be understated and with the archive of Fleetway/IPC now joining the Galaxy's Greatest Comic at Rebellion it's a great time to hear a different perspective on the seminal period of the 1970s and 1980s. With his uncanny knack for securing celebrity endorsements which saw him rub shoulders with TV and sporting stars alike, Barrie was probably one of the most successful editors in British comics. Not only did he give the hugely popular Roy of the Rovers his own 300,000-selling title, he also relaunched Eagle, and launched titles such as Scream, Speed, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Mask, Ring Raiders and many more. He was group editor for 2000 AD and his hands-off approach allowing Steve MacManus and Richard Burton to guide the comic to the great heights of its 1980s heyday. In a two-part interview, we talk to Barrie about his work in comics, his unique approach to marketing, and the rise and rise of Roy Race of Melchester Rovers...
