17 Nov 2024TVT Episode 165: Survived Another Election00:57:41
Episode 165: Survived Another Election November 14, 2024 We are back again with another expedition into that great album rock of the 60s & 70s here on Tales Vinyl Tells.  This expedition has been going on for quite a while now, the podcast version since December 2019.  The radio version premiered in the spring of 2022.  I vaguely remember the evenings during this music’s time when we’d visit a friend in our apartment complex and we’d burn some while putting on some Carole King or James Taylor or Stones or better yet, Sgt Pepper’s. The smell of incense, a lot of times, could mask the weed aroma and I played the psychedelic Smell of Incense from the West Coast Pop Art Experiment Band along with Graham Nash, some jazzy numbers from Seals and Crofts and Victor Wooten, and the closer is a very rocky one from The Rascals that is really good. Hope you enjoy all that! Show your love for the great album rock of the 60s and 70s by becoming a monthly contributor to Tales Vinyl Tells. Learn more at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you so much, especially you who already contribute monthly and I hope you feel really good supporting this effort to enjoy what I think is the best creative music of this generation. You can stream Tales Vinyl Tells Wednesdays at five central time on Radiofreenashville.org. And all of the episodes are free and downloadable on many podcast apps and of course at studiomillswellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells. Dig this hour!
21 Apr 2023Episode 88 A Couple More Sailing Numbers, Sounds Of The Caribbean, Extended Dylan Jam00:59:56
Since this podcast is a replay of the live radio show on RadioFreeNashville, some have already heard it, listening live at 5 Wednesdays here and here. Thanks for the feedback! By the time I get to edit the archived version, most of the misfires and booboos are gone. Let me know if you find one. HaHa! In this episode you’ll hear some Randy Newman (thanks Matthew), Spirit, Gerry Rafferty and some Marley and Marijah with two reggae tunes. Feel freee to share this page/link/fun.
23 Jun 2023Episode 96 Closing In On #100! This Is A Brand New One!00:59:55
Help yourself to all day music, any time, any day! Time is so precious. Every second is a diamond. Make each one count. I play some Sunday songs, while I tend my garden. There’s some foreplay because it’s been such a long time and Joni sings her favorite song, based on a poem. And more, of course. (Do I get points off for starting the sentence with “And”, Laura?) I give big thanks to you all who have reached out through the patron program to support this podcast that you like, because you keep listening to it. It’s a program full of the heart of rock n roll. Each hour is put together with the hopes of stimulating your senses and evoking something from the past. I hope it’s good stuff. More about the patron program is at https://patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thanks for checking it out and for your generosity. If you just can’t wait and want to hear Tales Vinyl Tells as it airs (anything goes-it’s usually live radio), tune in at 5 PM Central time Wednesdays on RadioFreeNashville.org and stream (best option) and you can tune in on FM to 103.7&107.1 around Nashville. Playbacks are here and on many of the podcast apps.
08 Mar 2023Episode 85 Going Back To Eps 18 & 19 Before RadioFreeNashville01:00:11
Many of the great LP cuts from the 60s and 70s were played here on Tales Vinyl Tells, hosted on StudioMillsWellness.com, before March 2022 when Tales Vinyl Tells got an hour slot on Wednesdays at 5 central time on RadioFreeNashville to carry on with the mission. Since my goal was and remains to not repeat too many tunes, except for replays of course, there are some killers that need to be repeated. Like, Jefferson Airplane at Woodstock. I love to hear Grace announce early that Sunday morning in 1969, “You’ve heard the heavy groups, now you’ll hear morning maniac music. Yeh, it’s a New Dawn……. Good morning, People!” and the Airplane launches into Volunteers (of America). Like, Joe Walsh and the James Gang, Thunderclap Newman and Revolution. Those last two were the first two played as a great progressive album rock radio station went on-air at Lake Worth beach, Florida in 1970 (?). That being WMUM-FM, lovingly known as Mother. And it was one. I loved my Mother and the people there that made it happen.  Kerry Bogard, Pat Sullender, Bill Davis, Gil Colquitt(RIP), Galen Barker, Michael Weber, Tom Lane and the first guy on the air, Geoff Fox.  If you listen to the Bill Davis interview, you'll hear how someone I know closely played Whole Lotta Love way before WMUM was born. (Smile) Hope you enjoy all of them here. You can reach out to me at TalesVinylTells@gmail.com. The month of March I celebrate another year at RadioFreeNashville. 2023 is one year.
27 Nov 2022Episode 69 No Time To Lose! Live Your Life To The Fullest!00:59:54
That’s a weird title for this hour, I know. Let me explain. I have a friend that is like a brother, with plenty of wisdom, respect and love for me and pretty much everyone he’s met. I felt the same way about him. A really good guy. His name is Vince. He had open heart surgery earlier this week and didn’t survive the surgery. He did his life’s work in 62 years. I’m older than that and still working on it. In the future, I’m going to do a show with some of the songs he gave me when I asked him his favorites. He gave me 12. And he gave a reason he chose them in 10 words or less. The message in the list is that things are all right, nothing lasts, and with Down by the River, it’s “just because it’s a badass song.” Right now, though, we’ve some music to hear! Animals (early), Nicolette Larson, A Marin County band named Seatrain, A super jam and so much more. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to share this, comment on it and have a good day. How can you make this world a better place? Stream the show live at 5 PM Central Wednesdays at RadioFreeNashville.org and here. Listen to and download episodes at Studio Mills Wellness Apple Podcasts Podbean, the podcast host.
25 Nov 2023Episode 118: Indian Summer, RIP Rudolph, Petty/Campbell Now And Then, Health Workers Salute01:00:02
Episode 118: Indian Summer, RIP Rudolph, Petty/Campbell Now And Then, Health Workers Salute November 25, 2023 Didn’t get no notice from Spot-to-fy since last time I posted. Maybe they were just being sensitive and not getting any attention. Whatever. We’ll see what happens this week and see if I can care any less. This time we salute all health care workers and providers, including those on what some call “the fringes”, complementary medicine, like osteopathy, acupuncture, homeopathy, massage, reflexology and reiki, from here. As we’ve been doing the past couple episodes, we hearing artists before and after larger success. Tom Petty/Heartbreakers/Mike Campbell share 3. This time of year we know winter’s coming and it’s nice to get some warmth to light our fire to prep for cold weather. It’s Indian summer. Nice tunes named that. You can hear the radio show live on RadioFreeNashville.org at 5PM Wednesdays and the podcast of the radio hour at StudioMillsWellness.com and most podcasting apps anytime. Your financial support of Tales Vinyl Tells tells me you like what you hear here. I’m so grateful for your generosity. There are expenses. Give as little as $5 a month or as much as you want to help me continue to bring the great album rock of the ‘60s and ‘70s. More at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you so much! NEXT WEEK IT’S DAY 6 OF THE POST COVID OUTDOOR CONCERTS SERIES WITH THE DOORS, AND GRATEFUL DEAD. PCOC, THE PEACOCK, CELEBRATING THE NEW DAYS AFTER-PANDEMIC. THE PODCAST HAS EXTENDED PERFORMANCES!
04 Aug 2023Episode 102: Spanning 57 Years Of Great Music From Judy Collins To Tedeschi Trucks00:59:51
Have you noticed how the mind works sometimes? Sure, it works all the time but sometimes it amazes me how we couldn’t have planned something to happen the way it actually happened. I wanted to start this one with Monkey Man from the Stones. It such a cool tune. So, I did. John Cougar attributed I Need A Lover to the Stones’ Happy. I didn’t know that until those two were put together and I was researching and writing notes. And Mick Jagger turned 80 recently. Maybe I’m the only one who appreciates the coincidences but there they are. Today you’ll hear rock opera tunes from Tommy and David Byrne on Broadway. Great number from him and company. On my mind: Tales Vinyl Tells is on RadioFreeNashville.org at 103.7 & 107.1 FM Wednesdays at 5PM Central time. Replays and podcasts of the radio show and complete archives of the podcast are on StudioMillsWellness and most podcast apps. The Post Covid Outdoor Concert series is back! Day 3 of the Peacock is coming soon with Grand Funk Railroad, Loggins and Messina and The Rolling Stones. Days 1 & 2 are on the podcast. Last but not least, I hope you really get what we’re doing on Tales Vinyl Tells. It’s preservation and exposure of what I feel is the best music of the 20th century. The vinyls, many of them anyway, have endured and get play on my show. Digital copies are lacking character. In hopes to continue my mission above, I humbly ask for your financial support. My ask is here. When you read it, you’ll understand why this is so important to me. Thank you for all support already offered and thank you for listening to TVT.
02 Mar 2023Episode 84 More Of The Canadian Music Machine On American Airwaves00:59:56
This is part 2 of this series that highlights just some of the rockers that made it onto radio here with cuts today from Bob and Doug McKenzie, Neil Young and Diana Krall (yep!) and quite a few more, we spin some of the best Canada has to offer in this genre. Enjoy!
09 Dec 2023Episode 120: How Does An Artist Come Up With The Hook That Just Grabs You?01:00:24
Episode 120: How Does An Artist Come Up With The Hook That Just Grabs You? December 8, 2023 Well, they did it again. Spot-to-fy pulled episode 119. Their story was “this podcast service is not intended to be a music distribution tool.” I’ve been saying all along, for 4 years now, that Tales Vinyl Tells is only for the promotion of great music and the artists that make that music and lyrics. I guess if Spot-to-fy has to pay a tenth of a cent per play, then so be it. They want me to get hooked up with a distributor. Not so sure I’m gonna do it. As you’ll see, I’ll be a bit more vague with my titles and see if that makes a difference. Apple podcasts hasn’t said squat. Ahhh. Chill now, BH. This is a really fun show this time. From Beatles magic to the blues of Rory Gallagher, I’m highlighting some very captivating (I think anyway) guitar intros. Sure, you’ve heard Heart’s intro to Crazy on You, but isn’t that really listenable? I hope you get off on this episode. If you celebrate December holidays or personal days of celebration, I hope it’s your best yet. Coupon good for all year. Have you considered joining other Tales Vinyl Tells listeners and becoming a monthly contributor? Details are at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you, those who have said “yes!”. And thank you! You can enjoy the album rock of the 60s and 70s with Tales Vinyl Tells at StudioMillsWellness.com and most podcasting apps.
26 Feb 2023Episode 83 Canadian Artists Who Influenced American Ears00:59:59
Many great artists, musical, theatrical, scientific and in other fields have made big marks in what we do here south of the border that we share. This is the first part of the series that brings out some of those great musicians who have made us smile, sing, dance, hug, kiss, you know. The musical list is quite long so I’ve chosen what I think should be played on such a classy show as Tales Vinyl Tells. I’ve warned you to not be surprised what you hear here, so let’s take off. The Guess Who, Lightfoot, Cohen, Adams, Mitchell, The Band are some who you’ll hear in the next two episodes. RadioFreeNashville is community supported and your support is so appreciated. Learn more and check out the programming at RadioFreeNashville.org.
26 May 2023Episode 92 Replay April 2022 Songs For Your Love With Jazzy Notes, Peace & Quiet And More01:00:00
You may have missed this little gem full of goodies from the 60s and 70s. A refresher I find very uplifting as it reminds me of a time when…….you can fill in the blank. There are a few Mose Allison tunes, one by The Who and Jimmy Spheeris sings so sweetly. Tales Vinyl Tells is now on most podcast apps and sites so you can pick and choose. With over 1,000 downloads and listeners from over 19 countries, it’s my honor to refresh your memory of that great album music. “Share”, “like”, “comment”, do all you want to promote the music you love. Thanks! From the Squarespace AI (Beta). I asked it to write about the album music of the 60s and 70s. Here the paragraph: ”The 60s and 70s were a phenomenal era for music. The artists of that generation created soulful and honest work that still resonates with listeners today. From Bob Dylan and The Beatles to The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd, many iconic artists produced music that reflected the political and social changes of the time. The music of the 60s and 70s was characterized by its lyrical depth and emotional range. The soundscape was varied, including rock, folk, and disco. The era produced many unforgettable hits such as "Stairway to Heaven," "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Hotel California," and "Imagine". The great album music of the 60s and 70s continues to inspire contemporary musicians and remains a crucial part of the music world.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
13 Feb 2023Episode 82 Valentine’s Day Love Songs: Pure Prairie League, Sade, Stones And More00:59:55
We go back to a Love episode, in fact it’s #17, from August 2020. That was a time before Tales Vinyl Tells became a weekly radio show on RadioFreeNashville. You’ll hear here Janis, Sade, JJ Cale, Arthur Lee and Love (they are really good and have 2 tunes today) and there’s more. If you like what RadioFreeNashville does, thank you, and consider making a donation or give monthly. Hope your Valentine likes this edition of TVT.
05 Oct 2024Episode 159: Pt 4 7 Continent Tour00:57:59
I want to begin this podcast teaser with a plea for your generous donation to my good friend, Jessica, who lost her home in the Asheville, NC flood.  Her gofundme page (link below) tells some of her story.  The trauma, heartbreak and sadness of that weather event can leave marks on a person forever.  If you can, I'd rather you donate to her than me and see how good that feels.  When you donate, you'll be able to keep up with the power of the human spirit when updates are posted and see what love can do! Thanking you, in advance. https://gofund.me/10ebc396 “ I believe ‘21’s gonna be a good year”. That’s where we started this episode as we continued our World Tour 2020 and led into 2021. Today we recreate this program as we travel to Asia with Asia and Lorde, then to the land down under with one of Australia’s national anthems and Little River Band, not to mention an old one about a kangaroo, which was on episode 26 but didn’t have time for it here. All our podcasts are recorded and uploaded in stereo, so if you can, listen on stereo equipment. You’ll get some clicks and pops, but full effect. Enjoy! And have a great safe year. You can financially support this podcast and be greatly appreciated by going to Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport and pledge as little as $5 a month, which will help pay the bills and keep the lights on. Thank you for supporting the great music of the 60s and 70s, mostly, and things that are deemed appropriate. Tales Vinyl Tells has been alive since December 2019. We survived Covid and snow…and plan on keeping on. Hear the show as it airs on RadioFreeNashville.org Wednesdays at 5 central time and hear all the craziness back to episode 1 on your favorite podcast app, Podbean.com, iHeart, PlayerFM and most of all at StudioMillsWellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells, where it all began. Thanks for listening!
28 Jul 2023Episode 101: Post Covid Outdoor Concert Series Continues Day 2! It’s Steve Day!01:02:26
It’s a great day for a good outdoor concert and now that Covid has been taken off the pandemic list, we’re getting together for Steve Day. It features The Steve Miller band, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble, and the master of TONTO (cool story), Stevie Wonder. Imagine the coolest, funnest outdoor concert. See if you can recreate it in your mind. It looks like at least 5 days of PCOC will happen, so here’s my invite to you to come on in the gates. I’m now being told there are no gates. It’s a free concert!
12 Feb 2023Episode 81 Celebrating Black History Month00:59:54
February is Black History Month and this hour is a retelling of our episode 12 from June 2020. James Brown, Aretha, and Gary Clark, Jr. are just a few of the artists here. Hope your winter is going well and the new year will improve as it progresses.
28 Sep 2023Episode 110: There Are Some Songs That Just Need To Be Played Together, Here01:01:23
And I’m not saying that I do it right here, but I hear a tune sometimes, not often, but I hear a companion tune. There are two of them in this show. Can you find them? My email is talesvinyltells.com. Just curious if you’re aware of them. Ok. Derek and the Dominoes was amazing, recorded in the brand new Criterion Studios in Miami, Fla. Our lead off jams like crazy. Have you heard the Canadian Beatles? We have some Klaatu. What a name! At 17 is an aural beauty. And Poco finishes us with the title cut from Crazy Eyes. It’s a pretty good tune. I want to say thank you to my financial supporters and invite you to join them at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. How can I make this adventure into the great music of the 60s and 70s better? I’d like to hear your ideas, questions and feedback. Email me at talesvinyltells@gmail.com. Thanks for listening!
02 Sep 2024Tales Vinyl Tells Podcast: Episode 154: A Little Fame, Some Little Moon Tunes00:57:47
Episode 154: A Little Fame, Some Little Moon Tunes August 31, 2024 This is the last day of August and another hot MF but I’m starting to see some, no kidding, color changes in some dogwoods and maples, way out on the tips. I’m certain the temps will chill a bit, soon. We have had some nice weeks this summer where the temp didn’t get to 90, and the past week we saw 102 in Nashville. Even with some time off and away, the music rolls on. This one is no exception. The recent blue supermoon was worth celebrating and we have 3 more supermoons this year! So there are some moon tunes here and speaking of blue, we’ll hear from The Blue Flames with their leader, Georgie Fame. You know there’s so much more. I’ve been on a get out the vote jag for years and I encourage you to be sure you’re registered, you know what’s on the ballot and you know where to vote and when. 26 Oct 2024Episode 163: The Adventure Began!01:01:39
Episode 163: The Adventure Began! October 26, 2024 This episode reflects back on the beginning, episode 1, that premiered in the winter of 2019. 38 Episodes later, I realize how many new beginnings we can have in a lifetime. Repeats, reruns, whatever you want to call it, we get a chance to do things differently, over and over again. Lotta woo woo there, I know. I’m preparing for a radio gig for Tales Vinyl Tales (hoping for the best) and I find no better place to get ideas than the beginning, the past. With some additions and subtractions, this episode has Moody Blues, Bonnie Raitt, Spirit and more. I feel it’s a good ‘un. If you’d like to support this program financially and help me continue to bring this great music to the airwaves and www, learn more at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you so much! 19 Jan 2024Episode 126: Letting It All Hang Out!01:06:56

Episode 126: Letting It All Hang Out!

January 19, 2024 We've had snow since Sunday (?). 7" at first and with single digit temps it aint melted yet. That gave me time to put one together and get it to you. Do you remember “Let it (all hang) out” by The Hombres? I dug it up and play it today. The Memphis band released that in 1967 (how old were you?) and the song has been redone by David Lee Roth and John Mellencamp among others. It was let out in the beginning of the psychedelic era. You’ll also hear my spotlight on Chris Hillman, who was a Byrd, played with The Flying Burrito Bros, Stephen Stills’ Manassas, Desert Rose Band, JD Souther and Richie Furay and had success as a solo act. He’s a player, for sure. There’s even a pair from The Beau Brummels. Get your instrument ready for our first JimJam on this episode. We play The Stones’ Lady Jane together. The story behind this segment is in a previous blog here. I want to say thanks to all givers, especially Gecko who has joined the financial supporters of Tales Vinyl Tells. You too can help me pay the bills to keep the tracks spinning. Go to Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport for that opportunity. You can also support RadioFreeNashville.org as they bring the news and programming you won’t get on most radio stations. We do this show live Wednesdays at 5 Central there. Replays are at Studio MillsWellness.com and a bunch of podcast sites. Thanks for all your generosity and for listening.

22 Jul 2023Episode 100: That’s A Lot Of Rock! Outlaws Jam, 27 Club Members, More Good Shat01:04:46

December 2019 was the release time of the first Tales Vinyl Tells. Today’s is #100! Pop the champagne. Fire one up. Celebrate with me. We’re hearing JT today, Melanie and many more. Also, I’ve been prepping for PCOC 2, the second day of the New Days Festival with the Steves: Steve Miller, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Stevie Wonder. It’s gonna be fun, but that’s next time. You can check out Day 1 of The Peacock a week ago in #99. Hope you dig all this. Let me humbly ask for your support of this podcast. There are expenses that make this show what it is and any way you can help is really appreciated. You who have already signed on, I say thank you and namaste to. Listen to and download this podcast wherever you listen to podcasts.

23 Feb 2024Episode 131: Artist Names In Songs And So Much More00:59:46
Episode 131: Artist Names In Songs And So Much More February 23, 2024 Ok, so it’s only two songs with artists name in them, really just one because the other doesn’t really zero in. After you listen to this one, you’ll know what I mean. But Creeque Alley does go through quite a few artists like all The Mamas and Papas, The Spoonful and iterations of them. I did also play one from Quarterflash and 1982 because it’s a cool tune. Like I need an excuse. Sade is a 2024 RnRHall of Fame nominee and picking a really good one from her is so easy. I saw her live around 2005 and she is captivating live. The helicopter SFX in the concert were so real, everyone was checking out the skies. The JimJam is fun. Are you a willing participant? We’ll do Gordo Lightfoot’s Early Morning Rain soon. I’m heading back to Nashville in a week, after a long and wonderful month in the tropics of south Florida. Been nice and it’ll be nicer getting back home and in the home studio and RadioFreeNashville’s studio for some absolutely live(ly) shows. Wanted to be sure to thank you who are financially supporting this podcast. I feel it’s very important to keep this music and the history of the 60s & 70s especially in the forefront. 21 Mar 2024Episode 135: Another Leg In The 7 Continent Tour 2024, The Dark Continent & Europe01:06:29
Episode 135: Another Leg In The 7 Continent Tour 2024, The Dark Continent & Europe March 21, 2024 In this 3rd leg of the 7 Continent Tour of 2024, it’s a visit to the African continent and a jump to Europe. Music from the group Africa, Paul Simon, John Mayall and more than enough to fill your ears with an hour of the great LP cuts from the 60s and 70s mostly. Enjoy! Thank you, financial supporters of Tales Vinyl Tells and of me. Your appreciation of this historic music means a lot to me. To hear tunes from 50 or more years ago still sound so good that bring back memories is a nice break from the news of today, sometimes good and sometimes awful. 03 Apr 2024Episode 137: Nostalgia: "A Sentimental Longing Or Wistful Affection....01:00:49
Episode 137: Nostalgia: "A Sentimental Longing Or Wistful Affection.... April 3, 2024 …for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations”. Yeh man! Like the 60s & 70s. Playing for change remakes songs with musicians from all over the world with sometimes odd instruments, did you enjoy Joy of Cooking? Not the book, but the band. They’re here with a few nostalgic pieces just for you and your silly nostalgia. I’m in the present and love a lot of things about the past. The Doors and Zeppelin on windowpane. Allmans and shrooms. I do hope these tunes today will make you smile and encourage you to be grateful for all you are, here, now.

Episode 129: Tommy Talton Tribute, Yes Minus One (ABWH), Lots More February 8, 2024 As I kick back and enjoy the warmth of the south for a month (lucky me), the weekly show spins on. Technology, amazing thing. I’ve got some live shows being uploaded into space and reflected back to earth to RadioFreeNashville and zip zip. They magically appear at 5PM Central time Wednesdays and with a little finesse they show up here and on many podcast apps. Life in the 21st Century. Ain’t nothin’ like the ‘60s & ‘70s, is it? Hope you dig these tunes today and I hope you’ll consider being a financial supporter of Tales Vinyl Tells. Sending love to each and every one of you who are already on board. 21 Oct 2023Episode 113: Spotlight On Rod Argent With Some Beatles, A Great Steely Dan Tune And More01:01:28
Back in the spring this was a new show on RadioFreeNashville, May to be exact. Be careful though, there might be Zombies here! It’s OK though. It’s scary good stuff! Thanks to my peeps who have offered to fund this podcast. It takes money and time to bring the great music from the albums of the 60s and 70s to you and I want to thank you to you in Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, to name a few, that have said “yes”. If you want to know more about supporting Tales Vinyl Tells, go to patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport for information. 07 Nov 2022Episode 67 A few songs for and about women and much more00:59:55
This show took me quite a while to put together. Hope it shows. There’s a recent group in the first set who had a connection to the Allman Brothers Band, there are two versions of a great Joni Mitchell song, one by Bob Dylan’s NYC guru, a song by Richie Furay, which I understand. was written for/to his wife over 50 years ago and they’re still cranking on. My friend, Brant Miller, shared his “GET OUT THE VOTE” song. Please make sure you vote! And there’s another song by a duo which was written by a Beatle using a pseudonym to test the waters to see if he could be successful without his writing partner. It’s a busy hour and Linda says its some great music, so I’ll go with that. Please support RadioFreeNashville.org in any way you can. That website will give you some ideas. Be well! Enjoy the show! Got your popcorn?
14 Apr 2023Episode 87! A Caribbean Cruise!00:59:54
To break away from the winter boredom, why not imagine a cruise around the Leeward Islands, from Sint Maarten down to Dominica and back up the east side of the chain and back to Sint Maarten, Home of Mary’s Boon Resort and the Princess Juliana airport, where you’ll land. A lot of the tunes in this episode are very familiar, as you’ve probably heard them all over the radio for decades, but I’ve found great use for them. They fit in well for this adventure aboard a classic 4 masted clipper ship. After customs, we walk to the ship, up the gangway and get ready for this Caribbean Sea cruise.

Thank you to all the sustaining givers that support this podcast. It costs to keep this going and my efforts have not gone unappreciated. You’ve heard, you’ve acted. Thank you. 20 Jun 2024Episode 147: Juneteenth Special00:58:00
Tales Vinyl Tells Podcast Episode 147: Juneteenth Special June 20, 2024 Here it is again. My annual salute to the celebration of the end of slavery on June 19, 1865 when Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, Texas that all previously enslaved people in Texas were free even though the emancipation proclamation had formally freed them almost 2-1/2 years earlier. This was a very significant event but was replaced by Jim Crow laws that still today hamstring the lives of many previous slaves’ families. My hopes are that when you hear The Negro National Anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing, you’ll feel something inside reminding you of the concept of freedom and justice for all. Financial support of Tales Vinyl Tells is greatly appreciated and it helps to offset the expenses that it takes to put this program together. 18 Nov 2023Episode 117: One From A Surfer Band’s Drummer, A Huge Selling Band From Massachusetts And More01:00:47
Is it possible to outsmart the podcast app? I had a recent podcast removed from Spot-to-fy I’d say because a few bands’ names were in the episode title. It was the Little Feat and Pink Floyd PCOC a few weeks ago. I’ll let you know the results. Like that app is so generous paying the artists. Screw them. Hope this episode flips your switch. Listening with headphones is a +.
02 Nov 2022Episode 66 Winding October down00:59:55
Do you know, off the top of your head now, who played the part of Buddy Holly in La Bamba, the movie from 1987? We’ve got a great cut from him this time. There’s a story about Thunderclap Newman and we’ve got their cool tune too. The #5 artist on the short list of those who have sold more than 15 million units of an LP is played. Their debut vinyl disc sold 17 million times. A hint: they’re named after a great city. And there’s much more. Tales Vinyl Tells will be three years old on December 19th, 2022 and the project that started as a homegrown podcast became an hour a week live show on RadioFreeNashville, WRFN-LP this past March. Listen live Wednesdays at 5 central time at 103.7 & 107.1 FM around Nashville, RadioFreeNashville or here. My aim is to share my albums and other sources, our music from the 60s and 70s, and it can/does take us into other eras of the rock years. So, as I like to warn you, the listener, don’t be surprised what you hear here. Please support your independent and listener-supported RadioFreeNashville. You can do that in so many ways: Smile.Amazon.com, give us your old car or truck, or set up a monthly $ gift to support the diverse programming on WRFN-LP at RadioFreeNashville. You can listen live there; you can hear replays and download all of my live radio shows at Studio Mills Wellness.com , Apple Podcasts, and at Podbean.com, where the show is hosted.
02 Sep 2023Episode 106: From Early Summer, One From Pre-Band, New Zealand Pacific Reggae + More00:59:58
First off, sad news this morning about Jimmy Buffett’s passing. The 2020 Life on the Flip Side LP is his 28th release. A billionaire many times over, he brought to life the adventures of a pirate, a sailor, a surfer and a guy who seems to love the life of excitement and relaxation. I’ve been listening to Flip Side this morning and will listen to more of his great happy music as time keeps on passing. This podcast replays the early June radio show and has Traffic, Mamas and Papas and a few from Tina Turner, who had then recently gone “into the next room.”~Henry Diltz. Enjoy your day, every day. Your/my expiration date is closer with each day. One way you can appreciate this podcast is by becoming a financial supporter. $1, $5, $10 a month helps to pay the bills and grow this podcast. You can become a sustainer by going to patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. And a very large thanks and hugs to all of you who have already shown your love. This podcast is available for listening, download and sharing at StudioMillsWellness.com and many podcast apps. You can even say: “Alexa, play podcast Tales Vinyl Tells.” She’ll know what to do.

The Post Covid Outdoor Concert Series continues today with the complete Day 4 performances from Johnny Winter And, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and the great Fleetwood Mac! It’s over an hour and forty minutes and is still too short. You might want some volume on this baby because it does in fact rock! A little bit of backstory and his-story makes this one of the funnest episodes to date. I hope you love this one. Do you find yourself looking forward to the next episode after you just finished one? Do you dig the great album cuts from the 60s and 70s that we played or haven’t yet played? I want to continue doing what I’ve been doing and with your help, it’ll be more fun. 27 Apr 2024Tales Vinyl Tells podcast Episode 141: Dickey Betts Salute , A Sleigh Ride On Nantucket? Details Here01:01:21
Tales Vinyl Tells podcast Episode 141: Dickey Betts Salute , A Sleigh Ride On Nantucket? Details Here April 27, 2024 The proverbial circle of life continues to turn and we might find ourself getting in touch with our own mortality as time moves on. This week I reminisce, as I often do hearing this music. The sense input usually brings up feelings, emotions, thoughts, people, smells, tastes, sometimes things I could have done better or differently. But the music doesn’t change and that’s why I enjoy doing this podcast and radio show. If you love the music of the 60s & 70s and want to financially support this exploration into that music, you can surf to Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. You’ll feel good when you give. (IMHO). Thank you! There are many ways to hear these great tunes: Live on RadioFreeNashville.org Wednesdays at 5 pm Central time, all the podcasts of the radio program(many times extended versions) can be listened to anytime, anywhere at StudioMillsWellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells, on Apple podcasts, PlayerFM, iHeart and many podcast apps.
05 Feb 2023Episode 80 David Crosby’s Music Replay From Feb 1, ’23 RadioFreeNashville00:59:54
The icons of the sixties are physically leaving us, one by one. My intentions are to keep their music alive. The music of the 60s especially was unique and many of the albums that contained those tunes have endured a half century or more, just begging to jump onto a turntable so the stylus can be gently placed into the endless groove and be played and appreciated. Or hated. There are so many songs I despise, even though they were great, they got overplayed on commercial radio. I’m trying very diligently to hold off on repeating any songs, though I feel some are so worth repeating. This is probably the 4th time I’ve played Wooden Ships but why not with such a great tune with Stephen Stills’ signature guitar solo and great lyrics that make you wonder about so much. I give this hour to Croz and encourage you to explore his compositions and especially his latest works, solo and with his son, James Raymond, guitarist Jeff Pevar in the group CPR. Enjoy! I’m digging’ listening to the early podcasts! Listen live Wednesdays at 5 Central Time in Nashville on 103.7 & 107.1 or stream here and here. Replays and downloads are available at: StudioMillsWellness.com , Apple Podcasts , and Podbean.com, the podcast host .
13 Dec 2024Episode 169: PCOC, The Peacock, Is Back!! Day 1, Pt 2 The New Days Festival!00:19:32
Episode 169: PCOC, The Peacock, Is Back!! Day 1, Pts 1 & 2 The New Days Festival! December 12, 2024 Welcome back to another Tales Vinyl Tells.  First off, I’ll tell you that this episode is so long because it’s so good with the acts in concert, there are 2 parts. Both parts are below and/or are available wherever you listen to Tales Vinyl Tells. We’re playin’ and diggin’ that great album rock of the 60s & 70s and today we are Reliving ep 33 from April 2021.  It’s The Post Covid Outdoor Concert series day 1.  In initialism, it’s PCOC, we sometimes call it the Peacock (PCOC, get it?). The New Day’s Festival! Today’s concert kicks off with Peter Frampton and his band, then Humble Pie, which includes Peter Frampton and Steve Marriot join Frampton for a tune; in the 2nd set Frampton plays with the Doobie Brothers and the closing show, it’s a surreal set from the Fab Four, yes the Beatles will get onstage soon.  You know, if you want to hear a Tales Vinyl Tells when it streams live on RadioFreeNashville.org, we do that at 5 PM central time Wednesdays. 13 Oct 2024Episode 160: Bowie, Fripp, Crusaders, Heroes, Friends And Being Famous00:58:04
We are probably all, in my opinion anyway, a friend, maybe even a hero to someone but we can’t all be famous. And that may well be a good thing. In the meanwhile, we can keep the fires burning, the love-light burning and the circle turning. Maybe even keep the desires yearning. Here are some memory-joggers, just some of the great music we had and heard on LP from the 60s and 70s. If you want to support this podcast, my story is at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thanks for listening and contributing.
18 Dec 2024Episode 171: December Holiday Songs01:00:01
Episode 171: December Holiday Songs December 18, 2024 There are many holidays in the month of December and you might hear of some that you didn’t know about on today’s Tales Vinyl Tells. I do love the old rockin’ Christmas tunes (Ronettes, Beach Boys and the like) as well as those from Tull, Greg Lake and Dan Fogelberg. Sit back and relax, have a cup of cheer and a good holiday month. You know, if you want to hear a Tales Vinyl Tells when it streams live on RadioFreeNashville.org, we do that at 5 PM central time Wednesdays. 30 Jan 2023Episode 78 Replay RadioFreeNashville 8 10 22 Farms And Roads00:59:49
A 1968 Tull tune starts it off today with a farm set and we also hear about the Road Kill Bill that the Tennessee state legislature passed in 1999. A excerpt from an interview I did with my friend, Brant Miller, about that song from Episode 16 in 2020 leads into that song. Hot off the grill! There’s some Todd Rundgren, Southern Pacific and Leon Russell. The music from the 60s and 70s lives on here. You can hear Tales Vinyl Tells live at 5 pm Central time Wednesdays in Nashville at 103.7 & 107.1 FM and you can stream live anywhere in the world you have an internet connection at RadioFreeNashville.org. You can also teach Alexa to “play RadioFreeNashville” after you tell her to enable the RadioFreeNashville online skill.

07 Jan 2024Episode 124: Another Replay For Holiday Break, From April ’2200:59:55
Episode 124: Another Replay For Holiday Break, From April '22 January 7, 2024 As we take a break to be with family and friends to rest and recharge, this replay has some cool notes to hit. There’s Shuggie’s love letter, a song that many call the first psychedelic rock tune by The Byrd’s, Luc-Ponty’s violin, of course a Doobie, soundalike The Searchers and other Fascinating Things (a bit of now and then). I have an idea for a future show. A lot of people play or at least try to play an instrument of some kind. May be their voice. Or castanets. Or they listen and applaud (or pillow hands). I myself am playing some guitar with friends and getting a little better, overall. What I want to do is give notice a week before as to what song, one hopefully many know, we’ll play the next week. You can easily find music online and for free. On the next show, I’ll play the recorded version while I play on my guitar live and you join in, in some way or another, if you want to. Whether you listen live on RadioFreeNashville.org or catch the podcast, we can, universally play the same song, along with me or as you hear the replay. This idea came to me after my friend from my hometown, Jim Smollon told me few years ago when I played Hold My Hand by Hootie and the Blowfish, he had to grab his guitar and play that one at home while I played it on the podcast. I’d like to spread that around the world. This podcast is downloaded in over 18 countries at last count. Imagine the instruments that could be played! Maybe those playing could record their versions and email the track to me. Who knows? I might be able to mix it and hear what we get. On my friend Jim Smollon mentioned above, he had some health event and was found dead at home a while back. A real shock to his family and friends. He was a good guy. So, why don’t we call this project “The Jim Jam”? I’ll explain more as this idea gels. HAPPY 2024! Do all you can for peace and justice, around the world!
27 Nov 2022Episode 70 Only 2 more 15 million platinum LPs! Who is it today?00:59:55
You know I’m going to tell you on today’s show. Not a regular in the rock genre and not American by birth, but their 3rd album was a big seller. The first two were very commercially accepted. Enough tease? A Cream cut. another super jam. I dig the long jams! Got ‘em loaded for future shows too. Suggestions? Comments? My email: talesvinyltells@gmail.com We saw a great documentary on PBS last night about Buffy Sainte-Marie, called Carry it on. It’s available on Passport and possibly even PBS.org. It is really good and she deserves recognition for her work to bring forth and promote the Native American culture and bring awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous women and the Red Dress project. Also the subject of Prime’s Alaska Daily mini series. Buffy’s Cree and they believe that on October 12, 1492, the Indians discovered Columbus. Some kind of irony. I hope you enjoy this episode! You can listen live Wednesdays at 5 Central at 103.7 & 107.1 in Nashville, at RadioFreeNashville.org and here. The archived shows become podcasts, available here, on Apple podcasts and on Podbean.com, where the raw podcast lives, for listening and free download, so Tales Vinyl Tells can go wherever you go. Best of the holidays to you! And I hope that 2023 will be even better than 2022. This year has had some good things about it but a lot of sad too. Keeping my head positive. Peace.
22 Sep 2024Episode 156: Part 1 Of The TVT 7 Continent Tour00:57:59

The upcoming episode or more will include visits to Brazil, Cuba, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and now you can name the other continents. Today, we hear coast to coast, to Canada and Mexico. Hope you enjoy what you hear. Remember, its in stereo so don’t be afraid to listen well and volume it up.” Catch up on all the episodes of Tales Vinyl Tells on the above page and on most podcast apps. 03 Apr 2024Episode 136: The Vince Playlist01:00:28
Episode 136: The Vince Playlist April 3, 2024 My friend, Vince, went in for heart surgery and I made sure to see him beforehand and wish him the best. That was the last time I saw him. They couldn't fix his heart valve. So our only choice was to mourn. Luckily, before all this, Vince told me that he had all the Tales Vinyl Tells episodes up to that time loaded into his car and he listened to them when he needed some good music that made him feel more alive. I asked him what some of his favorite tunes and artists were. He made a list of 10 songs or so and gave a little comment about pretty much every one of them and he's been gone for over a year now, I still miss him, and his comments, his choices, some of his favorites, are included in this hour of Tales Vinyl Tells. His peaceful spirit can be seen on his bench looking at the pond.
11 Nov 2023Episode 116: Change Is The Only Constant In Life. Last Fab Four Song?01:00:35
About a month from this post Tales Vinyl Tells will celebrate being a podcast for four years. 116 episodes deep, some replays, truth be told, and over 1,000 unique songs played, here’s another hour of the great album rock of the 60s and 70s! Wasn’t that dramatic? I do want to say thanks for listening and share my hope for many more episodes/years/spins/replays. You can experience the real live radio show at 5 PM Wednesdays on RadioFreeNashville.org. That’s the best listening experience I think. Those of you in Canada, The Philippines, New Zealand get better reception that way. Also, thank you to all you supporters of TVT through the Patron Program at Podbean.com. I appreciate each of you greatly. The link again is Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. This episode is about change, a song that took 44 years to put together (Beatles) and a salute to Ed King. You’ll recognize his sound. Did you ever have a marble vinyl? More on these notes are in this episode of Tales Vinyl Tells.  Hear it here  and on a whole bunch of podcast apps.

This is part 2 of the Day 4 radio show from RadioFreeNashville Sept 13. Featuring some of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers set, a song with Stevie Nicks and a bunch from Fleetwood Mac’s performance that imaginary day. It’s a rockin’ good time! 22 Dec 2023Episodes 121 & 122: It’s The Most Busiest Time Of The Year!00:59:55
Episodes 121 & 122: It's The Most Busiest Time Of The Year! December 21, 2023 This is the most important part of this blog to me today. Please make sure that your voter registration is up to date and correct in every way. Ensure you are registered to vote and that your name, address, signature etc. are correct. This is a good place to start: Vote.gov. If you’ll read between the lines, the worst thing that could happen is if a former president returned to office. He’s a con and liar. We must prevent a potential dictator from returning to the White House. Consider writing letters and/or postcards to voters. Every vote counts! We have the power to make things better! The time doth fly! Here you can double your fun by listening to a replay of last year’s Holiday show with some really good stuff( listen to Ep. 121 at http://www.studiomillswellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells) and this most recent and new show which features two from recently departed Denny Laine, founder of The Moody Blues and also one of the three permanent members of Wings, alongside Paul and Linda. I really dig Denny’s Meant to Be after I play Go Now. There’s a newer peek into the menu at Alice’s Restaurant Massacree revisited and more. Hope you enjoy these. I’m gonna wish you The Best of the Holidays and a Tales Vinyl Tells salute to 2024. BTW, December 19, 2019 was the release date of the first episode of TVT, so Happy 4th Birthday to Us! Finally, if you enjoy this radio show and podcast and feel a desire to financially pitch in, it is greatly appreciated and you can do so at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. 23 Dec 2022Episode 73 Final 15 Million Platinum LP And So Much More00:59:55
Getting near the end of 2022 and definitely the end of the 29 LPs that were certified platinum 15 millions times or more. Some great music that we started counting down months ago. Can you guess what album would have stayed on the charts for the equivalent of 33 years? We’ve also got Cat Stevens on the turntable and you’ll hear John Caffery and the Beaver Brown Band, Buffy Sainte Marie and a few more. Hope you enjoy. Feel free to share this! And have some great holidays.
07 Jul 2023Episode 98: Stirring Up Emotions, Songs Of Heartache That Also Can Lift You Up, From TVT #1100:59:58
The past couple of years have brought the contradiction of sorrow and celebration to a lot of us, from what I know. There’s been sudden death of young and deeply loved relatives, those finding new love or trying to patch up their relationship, and that’s just the way the balance of life goes. It’s the Yin and Yan(g) thing. From Poco, who I feel should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, (Facebook Group URL: https://www.facebook.com/groups/120697317959139/), and You Better Think Twice, to Angry Eyes, Dylan’s Positively 4th Street, to Vanilla Fudge’s Keep Me Hangin’ On, love can really suck. And it can really soar. You’ll just have to listen. This episode also has a Native American jazz saxophonist’s ritual chant, a song about the Love Fire and more. It’s a good hour of some of the great LP cuts from the 60s and 70s +. I say thank you to all who have shown support and have given to Tales Vinyl Tells at https://patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. My story and invitation are there if you have just a few minutes. Thank you for even considering to read it. I expect you’ll enjoy this hour. Maybe you’ll even download it/all and take it/them with you for that road-trip or camping trip.
07 Jan 2023Episode 75 Replay From July 13, 2022 Toto, Manfred Mann, Van the Man and more01:00:03
O’2L, Van Morrison, IF, Grateful Dead and more make this a good thing to hear again.
21 Jan 2023Episode 77 Just Hangin’ Around And Playin’ With Carole, Sly, Quicksilver And More00:59:53
You know how you get used to things being where you left them? And you feel like things are normal? Well, at the moment, all is new. I’m not home in Nashville and to give a hint, let’s just say I’m near the beach and it’s warm here. I’m still putting radio shows together and they’re still playing at 5 PM Wednesdays on RadioFreeNashville.org, WRFN-LP. This one hour show today ranges from Uncle Tupelo to a great cut from Zep III. And they’re all downloadable here on StudioMillsWellness.com. If you’d like to donate to this nonprofit, there are many listed at RadioFreeNashville.org. Thank you and hope you get off on this hour’s cuts from the ‘60s and ‘70s, mostly.
21 Mar 2024Episode 134: How Long Has It Been Since You've Heard These? Ever?00:59:56
Episode 134: How Long Has It Been Since You've Heard These? Ever? March 16, 2024 In a conversation with my friend Bonnie, she said how hearing a certain tune brought back memories of a time long ago. Who she was hanging out with, what music he was listening to (and the B-52’s Rock Lobster was driving her crazy). He played it over and over, saturating his beloved partner. But she smiled as she said some of the things she hears on Tales Vinyl Tells stir up some good memories. So there it is, folks. The album rock of the 60s & 70s was some memorable stuff. Just think about the bell bottoms, the John Lennon-type glasses with purple lens, psychedelic headbands, pungent smells in the air covered by sandalwood or nap champa incense, beads hanging in doorways instead of doors. Oh sure, it’s all very nostalgic. Great songs fill this and every hour of Tales Vinyl Tells. If you appreciate this podcast a whole lot or even just a little, you can show your love by supporting it when you check out Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. I tip my hat to all who have already signed up. Thank you, friends. All of the 134 episodes of Tales Vinyl Tells can be heard and downloaded at StudioMillsWellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells, podbean.com and many podcasting apps. The live radio show is at 5 Central time Wednesdays on RadioFreeNashville.org. The JimJam this time is Gordon Lightfoot’s Early Morning Rain, why not play along? And you’ll also catch Dhani Harrison doing a George song, a Deja vu song that shows the terrific harmonies of CSN&Y, a Reggae set with some New Zealand artists and more. Hope your ears will get happy listening.
30 Jan 2023Episode 79 Jeff Beck Tribute And A Few Others00:59:54
What a down year this has started out to be. Jeff Beck, now David Crosby. Rock photographer Henry Diltz said: “Our old friend David Crosby walked into the next room today. Imagine what he's seeing right this minute. We can only guess, but they say it's pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing him on the other side”. Can you dig what Beck and DC just might be up to?The year is gonna get better, I do believe. So lets get down to business. Jeff Beck’s imaginative and innovative guitar work spilled all over rock, blues and jazz worlds since he played with The Yardbirds as early at 1965. “‘Cause we’ve ended as lovers” is sultry, Goin Down rocks the house. Great stuff here today! That’ll be Wednesday at 5 Central on RadioFreeNashville.org.
11 Dec 2022Episode 71 (Remake of Ep 10) TRUTH00:59:54
Episode 10 About Truth January 9, 2021 Episode 10: Let’s call this the second season opener. It’s about truth. It’s about honesty…in all things. I’m working on it and see some holes in my life. This one rocks quite a bit with Derek and the Dominoes, Liar, Jeff Beck, Journey and more. Happy listening! Join the Tales Vinyl Tells Album club and get notice of every episode upload.
11 Dec 2022Episode 70! Only 2 More 15 Million Platinum LPs To Go! Who Is It Today?00:59:55
November 26, 2022 You know I’m going to tell you on today’s show. Peace.
06 Jun 2023Episode 93 More Of The Great Album Rock Of The 60s And 70s. Show #8 On RadioFreeNashville.01:00:26
Here… Have another hit… of Fresh Air is how we start this one with Quicksilver Messenger Service – Dino Valenti and John Cipollina. There's one song titled "2 songs for the Señorita”; how about some SRC? All I want for you is Love, Peace and Happiness. And I remember hearing Season of the Witch on my Craig eight track tape player written and performed by Donovan and we also have Al Kooper with Stephen Stills. There's a story about a Firefall and we hear a live radio version from them too. This and all the TVT episodes are downloadable here and wherever you get your podcasts, and the live radio version of Tales Vinyl Tells can be heard most Wednesdays on RadioFreeNashville.org and at 103.7 and 107.1 FM at 5 Central.

29 Dec 2023Episode 123: Jeff Beck Salute01:00:47
Episode 123: Jeff Beck Salute December 28, 2023 Yardbirds’ Shapes of Things was described by some as the “first popular psychedelic rock song” ~ wikipedia. We play a lot of Beck on this one, from The Group, with Stevie Wonder and one from The Asylum Choir, whose members were Leon Russell and Marc Benno, and one cool number from Benno. Of course, there’s more on today’s replay. It’s almost New Years as I log this episode and want to wish you and me a better year than ever before. Possible? Quite convinced it could happen. Be safe. Listen live on RadioFreeNashville.org and on another LIVE stream at 5 PM Central time Wednesdays (Really anytime for the various programs) and you can replay all the podcasts at StudioMillsWellness.com and on many podcasting apps. Your support is greatly appreciated. It allows me to continue to bring these great cuts from the 60s & 70s and pay the costs of doing so. Find out more at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. 23 Dec 2022Episode 74 Festivus, Christmas, Hanukhah, Kwanzaa01:00:00
December 23, 2022 HERE ARE SOME SEASONAL FAVORITES AND SOME RELATIVE SLEEPERS, CELEBRATING THE YEAR AND ALL IT’S VICTORIES AND LOSSES. I PERSONALLY HAVE HAD A RELATIVELY GOOD YEAR, MOST OF IT COVID-FREE, UNTIL THE FUNERAL OF A 23-YEAR OLD FAMILY FRIEND IN MID DECEMBER. OH THE SARS-COV-2 FINALLY GOT ME. AT LEAST I HAD THE INSIGHT TO RECORD THIS SHOW AT HOME IN CASE I WAS SICK FOR THE SEASONAL RADIO SHOW. LUCKY GUESS. SO HEAR IT IS, MY ONCE-A-YEAR SALUTE TO FESTIVUS, FOR THE REST OF US, AND OTHER DECEMBER OBSERVANCES. THIS WINTRY BLAST IS INTENSE. MAY I SUGGEST TEA OR SOMETHING STRONGER, SIT AROUND THE FIRE AND REMINISCE? MAY YOU HAVE SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS! THANKS FOR YOUR EARS THROUGH THE YEARS. Listen live Wednesdays at 5 Central Time in Nashville on 103.7 & 107.1, at https://www.radiofreenashville.org and at https://ice23.securenetsystems.net/WRFNLP. 09 Jun 2023Episode 94 A B-Side Of A ’65 45, Some RnR Stew, Tina’s 2, And I Bang A Gong00:59:58
I’ve finally got a show together following my double knee replacement and there’s a surprise or two. The Band by another name. Joe Walsh in another group. And a cool production from the Mamas and Papas. How long have you been listening to Tales Vinyl Tells? I hope you know that I really put my all into getting some great music and good info and stories for each one. Whether I produce the show in my home studio or do it live in RadioFreeNashville’s studio, I want the listener experience to be as good as it can be. And I want to improve a few things and preserve and spread the great music of the 60s and 70s to a wider audience. I have hopes to upgrade my mixing board, purchase more music for the library and help defray expenses I already have for software, subscriptions, hosting, etc. I personally support causes I believe in and hope that you’ll check out my invitation to support Tales Vinyl Tells. As little as $1 a month would be so great. $5 a month is even better. Support what you dig. My story is at https://patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. I hope you’ll take a moment and help me out. Thanks in advance.
13 Dec 2024Episode 169: PCOC, The Peacock, Is Back!! Day 1, Pt 1 The New Days Festival!01:01:38
04 Dec 2024Episode 168: Last Month Of 2024 And The Rock Keeps Rollin'00:58:00
Episode 168: Last Month Of 2024 And The Rock Keeps Rollin' December 3, 2024 This is some of the music that surrounded so many of us boomers during the 60s & 70s. We worked by it, played by it, soared with it, boogied to it and attached some memories to it that may well last a lifetime. For some of us, this music was something we were listening to full time. There’s some Disraeli Gears music first off, Robin Trower, The supergroup The Best, ARS and many more. You know, if you want to hear a Tales Vinyl Tells when it streams live on RadioFreeNashville.org, we do that at 5 PM central time Wednesdays. The program can also be played and downloaded anytime at podbean.com, Apple podcasts, iHeart podcasts, player FM podcasts and many other podcast places. 06 Aug 2024Episode 151: Some Of This Music Causes Sensual Excitement00:58:12

TALES VINYL TELLS PODCAST AND RADIO PROGRAM: Episode 151: Some Of This Music Causes Sensual Excitement August 6, 2024 Suppose that gets your attention. It’s true though, don’t you think? Haven’t you heard a song here on Tales Vinyl Tells or somewhere else and your brain just carries you back to a person, an event, an aroma, an experience? The goal on this podcast and radio program is to allow you to just dig the music from the albums of the 60s &70s and do what you want with it. I’m enjoying rediscovering the classic rock, a lot of it hidden behind the hits on an LP, and hearing things I’ve not heard before (and there are lots of them). One of those I’ve never heard before and on this show today is Arzachel, a group who also called themselves Uriel. Backstory is here. There’s a jazzy Spirit one, we’re gonna have us a Champagne jam and a few about San Francisco. Thanks to new financial supporters of Tales Vinyl Tells, including JP, John, Amy, Gecko and yes, I’m gonna keep ‘em spinning. If you’ve been telling yourself, “I want to be a part of this” or “been meaning to do this for some time”, check out Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. I am grateful for all who have said “yes”. You can hear the weekly radio program on RadioFreeNashville.org at 5 PM Wednesdays and at 1 AM Wednesdays on Glacier City Radio, KEUL, Girdwood, Alaska. Podcasts from the radio program can be heard on Podbean.com, Apple, iHeart, Player FM and many good podcast apps. And of course, our flagship, StudioMillsWellness.com. Glad you’re out there! Share, comment, like, join, vote!

02 Dec 2023Episode 119: PCOC Day 6! Another New Days Festival With Two More Great Bands!01:39:01
Episode 119: PCOC Day 6! Another New Days Festival With Two More Great Bands! December 2, 2023 It’s another fun day here at TVT with a huge turnout for The Doors and Grateful Dead. Lucky you’re going to hear it on this podcast. It’s more than a 1/2 hour longer than the live radio show on RadioFreeNashville.org. That live radio show is at 5 PM Central time on Wednesdays. The podcasts are longer and include a way you can show your love and appreciation for Tales Vinyl Tells by supporting with a monthly contribution to this music of the 60s and 70s by surfing to Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thanks to all who already give monthly and I hope you’ll join them. Enjoy the concert! It’s Day 6 of the Post Covid Outdoor Concert series! All episodes of Tales Vinyl Tells can be heard at StudioMillsWellness.com on the podcast tab and on a whole bunch of podcast apps.
23 Sep 2023Episode 109: Farewell To Jimmy Buffett, Artists In ”Before” Groups And More, Of Course.01:04:36
I stand corrected about Jimmy Buffett’s success, not to mention his impact on our culture. I mentioned on the radio show and podcast the numbers of recordings. Here are the facts: 32 studio albums, 11 compilation albums, 14 live LPs, one soundtrack LP and 67 singles! Jimmy was a very busy guy. He brought out the “party” in people. He also got melancholic. Like He Went to Paris. He wrote after meeting a musician, a one-armed veteran of the Spanish Civil War. It was a song he rarely played live and found out that Bob Dylan liked the song, and it was later recorded by Waylon Jennings and Doug Supernaw. Thank you, Jimmy and if you don’t mind, save us a place in the next room. There’s also a new journey we’re on to hear where some successful artists were before they gained their star. Tom Petty’s Mudcrutch, Ed King’s Strawberry Alarm Clock and Skynyrd and so on. This time it’s Gerry Rafferty, with 3 different groups. Good stuff. Fairly historical. Hope you like. Sure, there’s a boatload of great LP cuts from the 60s and 70s. Your financial support of Tales Vinyl Tells is so appreciated from all who have already signed up and those who will in the future. Maybe today? Check out my story at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Hat tip and thanks to each and all of you for listening/reading/sharing. Listen live at 5PM Central time on RadioFreeNashville.org, in Nashville at 103.7 & 107.1 FM, and the podcast is a replay of the radio program on http://www.studiomillswellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells, as well as a lot of podcast spots, Google, Apple, Spotify etc.
28 Jun 2024Episode 148: There Were 37....01:00:18
Episode 148: There Were 37.... June 28, 2024 There were 37 episodes of Tales Vinyl Tells that I recorded and posted only on the StudioMillsWellness.com website from the first in December 2019 til March 2022. That’s the month that I started doing a live weekly radio program at RadioFreeNashville. It was and remains today based on the great LPs of the 60s especially, many of which I had in my own library. When I started with RadioFreeNashville, I was confident that all royalty details were legit and I then got on Podbean.com who distributes my program to Apple, iHeart, Player FM, Spotify (they no longer use because of their pay structure to artists), and many other podcast services. This is a lot of what you probably don’t really care about but there’s a reason I tell you this. (Exhale) This episode and many in the future contain a lot of the music in those 37 episodes that didn’t get much more play on TVT after #37 because I try to repeat as little as possible. I have no playlist but, oh yes, I do have favorites. One of them is the Doobie’s Another Park Another Sunday. So there are a lot of great tunes I’m bringing into the light these days. Here we’ve got a Song in the Key of Life, one by a one-man band, two from a couple great musicians from the Atlanta area and played important roles in Atlanta Rhythm Section and Classics IV. Santana does a great Classics redux. And there’s one about a little yellow pill that your momma took which kept her cool. Mine did not take those tranks. She should have. Anyway, hope you dig it. Next week is the 4th of July and we’ll have our celebration for you then, but for now dig these tunes, man! AND, I almost forgot. The JIMJAM this time is Nights in White Satin. Join in! Listen live to Tales Vinyl Tells Wednesdays at 5 PM Central on RadioFreeNashville.org. Thank you, everybody, who donates monthly to me and Tales Vinyl Tells. It isn’t free to make this program happen and your support is a really nice gift to me, I appreciate you! If you think this is a worthwhile venture into the great album cuts of the 60s & 70s, you can donate a little or a lot at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. My deepest thanks to you!
27 Nov 2022Episode 68 Shaking with the Killer, Climbing the Wall and more00:59:54
There are only 3 more LPs on our list that were certified at least 15 million platinum awards and #3 today is a double album that rests in my vinyl collection and still sounds great. The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland has a big display of a brick wall honoring this artist and this release from 1979. There’s a lot of shakin’ goin’ on here today so let’s go. And please consider supporting RadioFreeNashville with a gift or make it monthly (like I do) or you can give your old car to them/us. Running or not. And please feel free to share this post and podcast, and download it for offline listening. Tales Vinyl Tells live at 5 on Wednesdays at 103.7 & 107.1 Fm in Nashville and on the web at RadioFreeNashville.org. Stream the show live at RadioFreeNashville.org and here. Listen to and download episodes at Studio Mills Wellness Apple Podcasts Podbean, the podcast host.
05 May 2024Episode 142: The Album Rock Of The 60s & 70s Doesn't Get Old. Only We Do, If We Allow It.00:59:59
Episode 142: The Album Rock Of The 60s & 70s Doesn't Get Old. Only We Do, If We Allow It. May 4, 2024

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU!

The aging process on humans is real. What we do and don’t do may play a big part in how that process affects us or not. The vinyl LPs of that era and the new ones being purchased today will last a lot longer than the color in our hair or our smooth and youthful skin. All I’m saying is that the age of rock is so wide and varied, from Elvis to Zappa, we have a lot of ground to cover in these short one-hour shows. And, who knows, maybe listening to the music of our youth may give a moment in time when we can enjoy those times or not. Admit it, it wasn’t all bad. If you have some input, like my friend, Puh-’mella did, let me know your taste in music, who/what/when. Email all your comments to me at TalesVinylTells@gmail.com. If you’d like to hear Tales Vinyl Tells as it plays live on RadioFreeNashville.org, tune in Wednesdays at 5 PM Central time to stream us live. The podcasts are all available at http://www.studiomillswellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells, on Apple podcasts, podbean.com and a whole bunch of good podcast apps. To financially support this podcast effort to hear the great music of the 60s and 70s, you can go to Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thanks to all who have already shown their support.
13 Jan 2024Episode 125: The Welch Era With The Mac, The Who Do Mose And More00:59:58
Episode 125: The Welch Era With The Mac, The Who Do Mose And More January 12, 2024 Welcome back. I found out I can’t out-Spotify Spotify. There weren’t many downloads there anyway. It is pretty cool to see who is and where they are. I’m revisiting some of the early shows at RadioFreeNashville.org. This is another replay that maybe you missed it when it first aired. I enjoy hearing them again. Here’s Badfinger off their 2nd LP, Mose Allison, Ohio, a little Peace and Quiet (they are not!) and many more. You can still financially support this journey into that great album rock of the 60s & 70s at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. A ginormous thank you to all who already support this podcast and to you who join in.
28 Oct 2023Episode 114: All New, Bowie, Fripp, Crusaders, Heroes, Friends And Being Famous00:59:52
12 Aug 2023Episode 103: The Tenth Live Show On RadioFreeNashville00:59:54
I’m a bit sad as I prepare this one that just replayed last week on Tales Vinyl Tells. It does have some great music with an opening message that is so appropriate for how I feel doing these shows and turning them into podcasts. That song is Lovely to See You Again by the Moody Blues. And even though I can’t really see you on the radio or on the podcast, I feel you there. I can see that you are downloading the podcasts and you send emails telling me where in the world you are. I thank you for that. What I’m really sad about is that we’ve suffered some serious losses to the grim reaper lately. Losing David Crosby was a lot to handle. Now we’ve recently lost Randy Meisner, Sinead O’Connor and this week it was notification of Robbie Robertson’s death. I’m saluting them soon with music. For now, we can grieve, we can mourn. My lady and I sat and played Scrabble last night and listened to some of the great music that The Band recorded. Just so entertaining! And if you want to see what Robertson did in his life, you should read his obit. Busy guy. Not liked by all his bandmates but someone has to be in charge, and it was him. Enough with the sadness. Today’s mix runs from Garfunkel and his then-bud, Rotary Connection, The Morrison boys together again, Ziggy and more. Next week at 5 Central time on RadioFreeNashville.org, it’ll be Day 3 of the Peacock with Grand Funk RR, Loggins and Messina and The Rolling Stones! Great music from the 60s and 70s!! Replays can be heard and downloaded on StudioMillsWellness.com and most anywhere you get your podcasts. Thanks to those who already took the plunge and I hope you’ll consider the support.

07 Jan 2023Episode 76 Happy New Year! It’s 2023! Salute To Christine McVie And More00:59:53
Looks like we made it to a new year. I was beginning to wonder. Last year had some good, some sad but the best thing is that is ended. I had a Covid Christmas, lost a couple really good people, like my 30 year old niece, my 62 year old friend, had a melanoma on my head and it was just a weird year. I did though get my chance to bring Tales Vinyl Tells to RadioFreeNashville and the world. Now a chance to regain momentum. Here we have a salute to Christine McVie and her time in public performance. She had a distinctive voice, you could probably tell the songs she penned and she brought life to the rock world. She is missed. One tune she did in her time with Chicken Shack in 1968 is here and I think you’ll recognize it. All in all, here’s some great music to kick the year off with. 04 Nov 2023Episode 115: Live! It’s Peacock, PCOC #5!01:46:41
Fall’s in full swing here in Music City, Nashville. The colors of fall are all but faded and we’ve had a few overnight temps cold enough to bring our brass monkeys in. And Indian summer is around Nov. 11, give or take and this episode with The Peacock rocks and could well warm your innards and extremes if you’re dancing to the tunes. It’s Peacock #5, The New Days Festival with live Little Feat and Pink Floyd. Lucky you! You get an extended version of the concert and I hope you dig what you hear. If you really do dig what we play here, just consider being a monthly supporter of Tales Vinyl Tells. You can give $5 a month, you can give a one-timer of $10,000. Both are equally generous in my eyes. Of course, you can name your gift. You can read my story and my ask at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you. 11 Dec 2022Episode 72 Vince’s Playlist01:03:42
December 10, 2022 AS WE AGE, WE WILL SEE AND EXPERIENCE MORE JOY, THE COUNTERPART OF SADNESS. THERE WILL BE MORE BIRTHS AND MORE PASSINGS. IT’S INEVITABLE. THIS MONTH OF DECEMBER, THE 20TH ACTUALLY, I BELIEVE, IN 2019, BEFORE COVID AND IN THE NASTY GRIPS OF A TYRANT-WANNABE PRESIDENT, I WAS ENCOURAGED BY MY FRIEND, DAVID, TO PUT MY ALBUM COLLECTION TO GOOD USE AND “YOU NEED TO DO A PODCAST.” WELL, I DID AND NOW, 72 OR SO EPISODES LATER, I’M DOING MY EXPIRED FRIEND, VINCE, A SALUTE TO HIS FAVORITE TUNES, EACH WITH HEART AND MEANING. SOME WERE THINGS I’VE ALREADY PLAYED HERE, SOME NEW ADDITIONS THAT I MOST LIKELY WOULDN’T HAVE THOUGHT OF. HERE’S TO VINCE, WHO LOVED HIS TIE-DYES. RAISE A GLASS TO THE SPIRIT OF HIS KINDNESS AND LOVE. HIS WIFE PICKED UP HIS ASHES RECENTLY AND SAID THEY WERE TIE-DYED. ENJOY THIS PLAYLIST. SEND ME YOURS. 02 Nov 2024Episode 162: Saluting Kristofferson, Lesh, Sergio, John David01:00:39
Episode 162: Saluting Kristofferson, Lesh, Sergio, John David October 29, 2024 The hourglass is filling with sand. I’ve been working on this one over the past couple weeks and got the word that Phil Lesh passed, I knew that I needed to finish up and get the salutes ready. These four had unique lives and affected millions around the world, like many of the artists from the 60s & 70s did. This hour is a major tease. Do you have a story or memory of any of these artists that you might want to share? A Dead concert maybe? Or some piece of trivia? My email is TalesVinylTells@gmail.com. In case you’ve let it slip your mind, you can hear the initial radio show Wednesdays at 5 PM central time on RadioFreeNashville.org or on an actual radio at 103.7 in Nashville. The stream is more dependable and worldwide. If you’d like to help pay this program’s bills, I welcome your sustaining monthly support. $5, 10, 25 a month helps so much. The details are at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you! All TVT episodes are available FREE to listen to and FREE to download on your favorite podcast app except Spotify (their loss) and at StudioMillsWellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells, our first host. Thank you, Linda!
10 Nov 2024Episode 164: Salute To Steve Winwood, Including Dave Mason, Manassas, Marc Cohn Etc01:26:45
Episode 164: Salute To Steve Winwood, Including Dave Mason, Manassas, Marc Cohn Etc November 9, 2024 The version that was heard on the live stream Wednesday evening at 5PM on RadioFreeNashville.org was an edited replay of TVT #20, which was diggable August of 2020. I realized while listening to it that I didn’t play anything by the supergroup Blind Faith so that’s one that’s coming soon. Hope you’ll enjoy this, the original #20…again. There’s Supersession music and Heart as well as the above. Here’s the full length episode. I could dig your support if you want to help with the costs of running a weekly radio show and podcast. More is online at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you all so much! My email is talesvinyltells@gmail.com. All episodes of Tales Vinyl Tells are on Podbean.com, Apple podcasts, iHeart, PlayerFM and most cool podcast apps. It’s also been on StudioMillsWellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells since December of 2019. Rock on, thanks, and long live the great album rock of the 60s & 70s!
15 Feb 2024Episode 130: Another Hour Of Great Tunes From The 60s & 70s (As I Say, "Mostly")00:59:54
Episode 130: Another Hour Of Great Tunes From The 60s & 70s (As I Say, "Mostly") February 15, 2024 There’s a tradition here at TVT to try not to repeat any tunes. Unsuccessful I’ve been but if I do repeat, there’s a high quality put on a number. That’s why we start out with two from Traffic’s John Barleycorn Must Die LP. It is a very cool musical masterpiece. And you’ll also hear Link Wray, Tracy Nelson, John Kongos and more. The ever-so-popular JIMJAM today is CSNY’s Teach Your Children, soon, so get ready for TVT! There are many podcast apps that carry Tales Vinyl Tells, like my feed site that sends TVT out to the universe, Podbean.com, Apple, Player FM and others. Of course, our flagship, if you will, is Linda’s StudioMillsWellness.com, where we first posted the podcasts in Dec. 2019. You could also stream TVT live at 5 Central time at RadioFreeNashville.org. In fact, you should listen to them often and send some financial support their way too. I’m very grateful that you listen and even more grateful when you financially support this cause to dig up, play and preserve that great sound and visit the lifestyle of the 1960s & 70s. If you don’t already give monthly, why not consider it? Go to patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport to find out more. I put a lot of effort and time into making this hour as uplifting, fun and entertaining as I can make it. Can you tell I need attention? Thanks y’all!
08 Oct 2023Episode 111: Top 3 Albums With A Stage Light On Pink Floyd.00:59:55
Recently on Tales Vinyl Tells I counted down most of the 29 albums of all time that sold more than 15 million units. An LP counted as one, a single as a half sale. This time it’s a focus on 2 by Pink Floyd that were big sellers not to mention they were captivating of the ears and brains. These are culturally significant in my opinion. And there’s more of the great album cuts from the 60s and 70s. You can hear Tales Vinyl Tells as it happens on RadioFreeNashville.org and on radio on 103.7 & 107.1 at 5 PM Wednesdays. Replays can be heard on StudioMillsWellness.com and on many podcast apps. I’m so appreciative of you listening and of those who have chosen to financially support this podcast. If you’re interested in supporting Tales Vinyl Tells, check out patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. And Thank You!
19 Apr 2024Episode 140: Another 15 Million Unit LP, Long Time Since Phoenix Flew And More01:01:17
Episode 140: Another 15 Million Unit LP, Long Time Since Phoenix Flew And More April 19, 2024 The ironies in life… This hour-long show just played on RadioFreeNashville.org and yesterday I was informed that Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers Band had passed away peacefully. He was 80. Jaimoe is the soul survivor of the original ABB now. The irony being that this particular episode started off Wednesday on radiofreenashville.org talking about the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East sessions from the summer of 1971. In fact, the second and third tunes from that session, on this episode, are from those Fillmore East fabulous concerts. If you didn't catch it during the live radio show, I was living in South Florida and was hanging out with some people I would call cool and we were doing a lot of concerts (and a fair amount of extracurricular recreational things). The concerts were affordable, like five dollars to eight dollars and we didn't mind traveling an hour to the Miami jai alai fronton to see the Allman Brothers Band live. That allowed plenty of time to get our heads right. It was a big party! It was the Fillmore East sessions! We were blown away. And in the first three months that the double album was on the market, it's sold a half million copies. I still have mine and you probably know I'm in love with it! Stormy Monday is a killer, you don't love me is a great jam and the four sides contain wall-to-wall great southern rock. By the way, Tales Vinyl Tells plays Wednesdays at 5 PM Central time on 103.7 and 107.1 FM around Nashville and streams live on RadioFreeNashville.org and here. Replays can be heard on the StudioMillsWellness website, iheart, playerFM, Apple, Podbean.com(our RSS feed host) and most of your good podcasting apps. I’m asking for your financial support to help me pay the bills and make this show better. Thanks to all the generous fans of this great music of the 60s & 70s. My story is at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you, thank you. All you listeners and especially you financial supporters, I want you to send me your favorite artist(s), favorite songs, memories etc. What I’d like to do is put together a special private podcast for the financial supporters. Ya dig? I asked my bud Vince to do that a few years ago and you can hear the Vince Playlist on episode 92. He’s no longer with us which makes his list that much more valued. Dig in.
22 Sep 2024Episode 157: Part 2 Of The TVT 7 Continent Tour00:59:49
On December 20, 2019, I released episode 1 of Tales Vinyl Tells so when this episode was released, you might say was our First Birthday. That has me thinking, “If TVT was born on 12/20/19, wouldn’t this be the 2nd birthday?” Regardless, we’re up and away with the 2nd leg of our World Tour 2020 as we buzz around the US including Kentucky. I want to honor my friends (and they’re sisters), Karen and Kim, some mighty kind and fun Kentucky women. Next stop is Brazil with a classic and some new ones. Cuba’s nice to visit and the Caribbean is hurricane-free for right now, so a good time to visit. I bet you will hear at least one song today that you’ve never heard before and one that rings a bell but not loudly. Many are classics and it’s all fun! Hope you’ve enjoyed these so far and had as much fun as I have in putting them together for you.
27 Sep 2024Episode 158: Part 3 7 Continent World Tour00:59:52
In this 3rd leg of the 7 Continent Tour of 2024, it’s a visit to the African continent and a jump to Europe. Music from the group Africa, Paul Simon, John Mayall and more than enough to fill your ears with an hour of the great LP cuts from the 60s and 70s mostly. Enjoy! Your support is so appreciated and goes toward paying the expenses that it takes to put this program on the web. More information is available at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. Thank you who provide monthly support. Since December 2019, some of the best album tracks of the 60s and 70s have played in these programs. You can hear all of the episodes anytime, on your favorite podcast app, at StudioMillsWellness.com and you can catch the radio airing Wednesdays at 5 PM central time on RadioFreeNashville.org. Tune in and turn it up!
30 Jun 2023Episode 97: 4th Of July Salute To America00:59:54
Here’s a salute to America with Yes, Steppenwolf, Karla Bonoff, Linda Ronstadt with one of Bonoff’s tunes and an encouragement to be registered to vote and to be aware of ballot issues everytime the polls are open. Vote with your head and heart. I also encourage you to even consider working the polls, getting involved in letter writing (it’s easy!) There is voting going on much of the time and some don’t want “you people” to know about it. Be informed! Check with your local election board or commission. I know you might think this is early but we’ve got another very important election coming up in 2024 and if we, the people, want change so we can look forward and not backward, we need to vote and get others to vote. There! I said it. Enjoy this episode! You can hear Tales Vinyl Tells live at 5 Central Wednesdays by streaming it on RadioFreeNashville.org, tune it in on FM radio at 103.7 and 107.1 and catch the replay here and at your favorite podcast app. Great Thanks to you, our supporters, to this project intended to present and preserve the music of the 60s and 70s, sharing with some who were brought up in a different time and are discovering the gems of the real rock n rollers who made album rock what is really is. The Vinyl Discs, The Stories, The History, The FUN! These are the Tales Vinyl Tells. Details to support this podcast are at https://patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport.
29 Apr 2023Episode 89. A Lot Of Great LP Cuts From The 60s And 70s, As Usual00:59:54
There are a lot of episodes that are wanting to be heard. Is that an “ego” desire? I don’t think so because the music of those decades speaks for itself. It’s unique (no boom boom boom), not repeating, its not about guns or crime. The music of the 60s and 70s is about peace, love, feeling good, money, Otis Redding (?). Just listen! A couple things: First-you can now listen to Tales Vinyl Tells on StudioMillsWellness.com, Apple, Google and Spotify podcasts (whoohoo), anytime, anywhere; Second- Podbean is where the podcast is hosted and pushed to Apple etc. Their metrics (?) tell me that over 850 downloads of TVT have happened and that the leading country downloading is New Zealand. Whhaatt? Hello, New Zealand!! And thanks for listening! And Apple podcasts is where the majority of listeners go to hear Tales Vinyl Tells. This is an adventure and I’m glad you’re on it with me. Please subscribe where you can, email me at TalesVinylTells@gmail.com and share this! Let’s see those numbers rise! I am glad your tuned in.
26 Aug 2023Episode 105: Some Good Things, Today And Some Gone On00:59:55
This time, I salute a few artists who recently passed on, the harvest is being gathered and a couple cool jams are featured here. One from Close to the Edge, another from JF Murphy + Salt. Listen to this podcast at StudioMillsWellness.com and most places you get your podcasts. This has been and continues to be a fun journey into the great albums of the 60s and 70s and some really great tracks contained in them. If you like hearing these and experiencing the rush they might give you, why not consider financially supporting this podcast? There are expenses that repeat monthly and your support will allow me to keep on truckin’. You can find out more about my patron support program at patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. A huge hug and thank you to all of you who have already affirmed your support! I strongly encourage you to share this podcast, comment, like and follow TVT and be sure to join Tales Vinyl Tells Album Club on Facebook. Working on new episodes now in the southern studio where this great music of the 60s & 70s got into my soul as a youngster. Btw, thanks to current and new financial supporters of Tales Vinyl Tells, including Gecko. You can find out more at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. This is the first leg of the 7 Continents World Tour that actually played on podcast episode 23 in January of 2020. At that time, I posted on StudioMillsWellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells, “Sure, it’s imaginary but it’s safe and healthy and has some pretty good music in it. Climb aboard! You could even financially support this podcast at Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. With that, I say a ginormous “thank you”!
16 Mar 2023Episode 86 Joni Mitchell And Gershwin, A Little This/That01:00:00
Three good ones from Joni today. Her PBS tribute is March 31st at 8 central time. She recently was honored to receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Mad Dogs are loose on the street today and I can only hope you’ll like my song choice today from some of the best LPs of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Thanks for your donations to the show and to RadioFreeNashville.org.
07 May 2023Episode 91 A replay of a summer show heard on RadioFreeNashville00:59:56

This show was heard on June 22, 2022 on WRFN-LP and since I'm having some minor surgery and will be gone for a few weeks, I thought it'd be good to hear some things you may have missed and we can keep the music rocking' on.  I've got Hendrix, Seals and Crofts, some stormy songs and more.  Hope you enjoy!  Email me, like, comment, share the episodes.  Nice to hear from you faithful listeners.  We're now reaching our podcasts into 19 countries, including the Philippines, Albania, New Zealand, India and are approaching the 1,000 downloads mark.  Catch us on your preferred podcast player.

06 May 2023Episode 90 What’s With The Fascination With Zombies? Oh, You Mean T-H-E Zombies. Right!00:59:55
Do you ever wonder how some bands of the 60s and 70s came up with their names? Naw, I don’t either. But, there were The Zombies, Mothers of Invention, Beatles (what?). Today you’ll get a good mix of some of the best LPs cuts from the age of Aquarius.
21 Nov 2024Episode 166:New Version Of An Old One00:57:59

Episode 166:New Version Of An Old One November 20, 2024 I hope you’re well and ready for some music from a lot of West Coast bands today. You know, we dig into these great albums of the 60s and 70s and some of you younger listeners may not have been on the Earth at that time. You know, just a little gleam in your daddy’s eyes? So hello to you younger listeners today . A lot of us were brought up listening to this music that we’re gonna hear today and some of us are getting to hear it another time. If it’s new to you, just dig it! I like to play many album cuts of mostly familiar songs but I do like to throw in some new songs or songs that we really don’t hear that much back in the day. Oh! I never thought I’d use that phrase “back in the day“but there it is. We’re going to hear from Crosby Stills Nash and Young, a Monkee, yes they can be trained, Nashville’s Orleans and quite a number more. As always, I want to thank all the supporters of this program who monthly contribute through Patron.podbean.com/talesvinyltellssupport. I bow to you, thank you and invite everyone to check out how you can show your love for this awesome music of the hippie generation, whether you were there or just get down with the albums of that time. Remember that Tales Vinyl Tells can be streamed as it happens on RadioFreeNashville.org Wednesdays at 5 Pm Central time and all the episodes are listenable and downloadable on your favorite podcast app (I say probably), just don’t try Spotify. They say it doesn’t allow them to pay their millionth of a cent royalty to artists and I get that. So whatever they say, they remove it so you’ll just have to listen elsewhere. Like Podbean.com or PlayerFM or maybe even StudioMillsWellness.com/tales-vinyl-tells. Take your pick or pick your take. Rock on, take care, stay well and be nice. BH
