14 Jan 2024Divorced & Dating: Unveiling My Messy Journey to Midlife Romance | Ep 2200:12:32

In this episode, I delve deep into a personal narrative that is both vulnerable and relatable—my journey through relationships, dating after divorce, and the tribulations of midlife dating and menopause. I lay bare the emotional rollercoaster I've experienced over the last two and a half years, candidly sharing the highs and lows, and the temptation to succumb to negativity.

This isn't just a story of struggle; it's a chronicle of the hard-earned crossroads of hope that I've reached. I want to highlight the importance of not playing the victim or falling into despair, but instead, recognizing that every challenge faced is a step toward a better tomorrow.

As I recount the pattern of my past relationships, I emphasize the lessons learned, particularly the need for authenticity and clarity in communicating one's needs. It's a tale of repeated patterns—forming attachments too quickly after the illusion of intimacy and trying to mold incompatible relationships into something they're not. But it's also a story of growth and the realization that it's crucial to hold out for what truly satisfies one's needs, without compromise.

From setting arbitrary dating rules to understanding the importance of communication, I explore the interdependence that forms the foundation of a healthy relationship and the self-reflection necessary to find joy and fulfillment on one's own terms. This episode is a heartfelt reflection on personal growth, the quest for genuine partnership, and the courage to demand the love and life one truly deserves.

I also discuss the significance of moving at a pace that respects both your emotional state and physical health, emphasizing the vital practice of safe sex, and the nuances of intimacy during menopause, the importance of communication, even when it means having those tough conversations about sexual health, and I'll share the lessons I've learned about safeguarding not just my physical health but my heart as well.

31 Mar 2024From Erections to Intimacy - A Whole New Take on Urology | Ep 3300:29:53

In this episode I had the privilege of speaking with Dr. Rachel Rubin, a highly respected urologist and sexual medicine specialist known for her comprehensive approach to sexual health across all genders.

Dr. Rubin enlightened us on the vital connection between urology and sexual function, emphasizing the importance of understanding our bodies' anatomy and physiology to address sexual health issues effectively.

She shared her passion for educating both the public and healthcare professionals on the complexities of sexual medicine, underscoring the need for better sexual education and the removal of stigma from conversations about sexual health. It was an eye-opening discussion that challenged many preconceived notions about sexual wellness and the critical role of specialized care in improving quality of life.

I was particularly moved by Dr. Rubin's insights into the challenges faced by individuals seeking help for sexual dysfunction, highlighting the gaps in knowledge among general practitioners and the importance of advocating for one's sexual health. Her stories of empowering patients to communicate their needs and desires resonated deeply with me, reminding us all of the power of education and open dialogue.

Dr. Rubin's work not only offers hope to those struggling with sexual health issues but also calls for a broader societal shift towards embracing sexual health as an integral part of overall well-being. Her dedication to advancing sexual medicine and her advocacy for comprehensive sexual education are truly inspiring, making her one of my sheroes in the field.

31 Dec 2023BONUS: The episode for him-5 Ways to Keep Her Happy00:03:18
5 heartfelt ways to keep the spark alive and make your female partner feel truly cherished. The first tip is all about acknowledgment; when she enters the room, make it a point to appreciate her presence fully. Whether it's a compliment about her appearance or a simple expression of missing her throughout the day, it's crucial to show that her presence matters. Even if you're caught up in the climax of a football game, invite her to sit with you for a moment – it's a gesture that speaks volumes. I emphasize the power of touch, not the over-the-top public displays, but the subtle, tender gestures that convey affection. The third piece of advice is about thoughtful gifting; it doesn't have to be extravagant, just something to show you've been thinking of her. Next, never assume she knows how much she's appreciated – tell her often. Lastly, invest in quality time together. A date need not be traditional; it could be anything from rock climbing to a simple bike ride. The essence lies in being present and making memories together. 22 Oct 2023Your Glorious Clitoris | Ep 1100:11:54

It may surprise you to learn that your clitoris is one of the most magnificent organs in the female (vulva owners) body. It has only one function. It's a lot more intricate than you think and knowing it well can lead you to much greater sexual pleasure.

Most women cannot have an orgasm strictly from penetrative sex. The clitoris plays a big role in your orgasms. During perimenopause and post-menopause, changes to your vulva and more specifically your clitoris can affect your enjoyment. Extremely dry tissue can even cause your clitoris and labia to disappear! This doesn't mean the end of your sex life. Get to know this very valuable organ and up your enjoyment exponentially!

21 Apr 2024Society's Rainbow - Embracing the Diversity of Human Identity | Ep 3600:14:05

In this episode, I delve into the complex world of gender and sexuality, acknowledging the vast array of terminology that exists today compared to the simpler times of my youth. I explore the distinctions between identity, expression, gender, and sexual orientation, emphasizing that these aspects of ourselves are not always aligned.

I introduce concepts such as the Genderbread Person to illustrate the differences between sex, gender expression, sexual attraction, and identity. I also share insights on how societal norms have evolved to recognize not only the binary of male and female but also the spectrum that includes intersex, transgender, and non-binary identities, highlighting the importance of understanding and respecting each individual's unique experience.

I hope to open minds and foster a deeper understanding of the fluidity and diversity within human sexuality and gender identity. I acknowledge that this episode merely scratches the surface of a vast topic and that language and labels continue to evolve. I aim to promote empathy and inclusivity, inviting listeners to embrace the complexity of human identity with an open heart and mind.

21 Jan 2024The Hair Down There | Ep 2300:12:28

In this episode, I'm getting personal about pubic hair—yes, the unsung hero of our nether regions. It's more than just hair; it's a natural barrier that keeps moisture and microscopic debris at bay. Remember the episode on the glorious clitoris, exclusively devoted to pleasure?

Well, pubic hair also plays its part in the sensory experience, with each tug awakening those delicate touch receptors. I discovered that even in ancient Egypt, pubic hair was not only represented artistically but also groomed for reasons beyond aesthetics, like preventing lice.

Fast forward to today, and the practice of hair removal has evolved into a statement of beauty and status. From chafing to increasing STI chances, it's a delicate balance. So, I'm here to share my candid experiences and to remind you that whether you wax, shave, or go au naturel, do it safely and for yourself.

28 Jan 2025The Orgasm Equation: Science, Pleasure, and Everything In Between | Ep 8000:11:49

We all know orgasms feel incredible, but how often do we actually stop and explore what they really mean?

In this episode, I walk you through the science behind what happens to your body during an orgasm—the heart-racing, muscle-contracting, hormone-releasing magic that feels so good. We also take an honest look at how men and women experience orgasms differently: why women often need more time to get in the mood, and how men can experience orgasms without ejaculation.

But this isn’t just about anatomy or science; it’s about YOU. I share personal stories, including one about a friend who experiences orgasms from exercise (yes, you read that right!), and how communication, curiosity, and a little playfulness can transform your intimate experiences. Plus, we explore why orgasms aren’t just about pleasure—they’re great for your health, too. Better sleep, lower stress, and even a stronger immune system? Yes, please.

Whether you’re looking to deepen your connection with a partner, understand your own body more intimately, or simply enjoy life’s pleasures to the fullest, this episode is for you.

In This Episode:

  • (00:00) Introduction
  • (00:50) What is an orgasm, really?
  • (01:24) The science behind what happens to your body during an orgasm
  • (03:35) The different types of orgasms

11 Feb 2025Midlife Dating: Red Flags to Run From, Green Flags to Stay For | Ep 8200:08:09

You spot a red flag, and what do you do? Run. Someone’s still obsessed with their ex? Gone. Talks only about themselves? No thanks. Financially unstable in their 50s? Hard pass.

We’ve trained ourselves to scan for every possible warning sign before we even give someone a real chance. But here’s a thought—when was the last time you actively looked for green flags? The little signs that someone might actually be worth your time?

In this episode, I flip the script on dating and relationships. Sure, avoiding red flags is important, but what about spotting the signs that someone is actually worth your time? From emotional stability to simple acts of kindness (like holding the door or sending a thoughtful text), we’re diving into what makes a partner a keeper.

Are we so focused on running that we forget to notice when we should stay? Let’s talk about it.

18 Feb 2024Can Non-Monogamy Save Your Marriage? | Ep 2700:16:58

In this episode, I explore the concept of consensual non-monogamy, contemplating its role as an alternative relationship paradigm. I examine the failure rates of traditional marriages and question the sustainability of monogamy as a one-size-fits-all model.

Historical perspectives are considered, highlighting the evolution of women's societal roles and the contractual origins of marriage, which reveal a very different picture compared to modern romantic ideals. I also share insights into the gradual shift towards non-monogamous relationships, particularly among the younger demographic, and reflect on the reasons behind this shift.

This episode is not an endorsement but rather an exploration of the various forms non-monogamy can take, from swinging to polyamory, and the potential benefits and challenges each presents. It's a candid discussion about the possibility of redefining relationships to fit the complexities of modern life and individual needs.

17 Dec 2024When Men Talk About Sex: The Power of Vulnerability in Relationships | Ep 7300:10:30

In this episode, I’m getting real about something that can completely transform your relationship: vulnerability. We often think of vulnerability as something women do, but here’s the truth—men can be just as willing to open up, and when they do, it’s absolutely amazing.

Here’s the thing: men and women aren’t as different as we think. The fears women have about aging, like changes to our bodies or confidence, are so similar to what men go through. Diving into the depths of communication within the context of consensual non-monogamy, this episode revisits the essential conversations that can either make or break the dynamic of a long-term relationship.

I discuss the complexities CNM it entails, especially when considering introducing such a concept into a relationship. The episode provides listeners with the tools to initiate a dialogue with their partner, highlighting the successful journey of couples like Britta and Gary (Episode 28) who navigated these waters before, the art of communication, advising against starting with negatives and instead, fostering a supportive and loving atmosphere. In the end, the message is clear: broaching the subject of spicing up one's intimacy should be done with care and should never be confined to the bedroom.

Love is the starting point, and from there, the possibilities for growth and excitement in the relationship are endless.

03 Dec 2023Let's Close the Orgasm Gap! | Ep 1600:06:21

In this episode, I address howwe can bridge it to ensure women's sexual satisfaction. In heterosexual sex, understanding and education play crucial roles in addressing this issue. Men often don't realize that clitoral stimulation is essential for women to orgasm.

Women may not be aware of their own needs, leading to frustration during penetrative sex. Factors like stress and distractions can affect arousal, but it doesn't mean women want sex any less than men. Sex is often portrayed as a quick, performance-driven act in media.

The narrative around sex must change to bridge the orgasm gap. Women are sexual beings, and embracing their changing needs can lead to more fulfilling and satisfying sexual experiences.

18 Feb 2025Reclaiming Power: Sex Work, Justice & Norma Buster’s Fight Against Online Abuse | Ep 8300:20:16

What if your most intimate moments were weaponized against you—and no one cared?

At 19, Norma Buster thought she was just ending a relationship. Instead, she became the target of relentless stalking, threats, and the ultimate violation: her private photos exposed online. She turned to the law for justice. It failed her, but she didn’t back down. Now, as Chief of Staff at CA Goldberg and host of Oral Arguments, Norma is fighting tech-facilitated abuse, exposing legal loopholes, and demanding change.

04 Sep 2023Taboo to Truth: Unapologetic Conversations About Women's Sexuality in Midlife00:08:21

Sex and Menopause- two words that often are not said in a positive light in the same sentence. Society suggests that women that are menopausal are old, washed up and sexless. I'm happy to report that I'm a living, breathing example of busting that myth and I want you to join me. Whatever you're experiencing, hot flashes, dry vaginas, low libido or a sexless marriage, you are not alone!

Over 50% of the population will go through the menopause transition over the next 40 years. If you're female and own a vulva, you will be one of those women! Rather than crumble up and join a female ashram where you put yourself out to pasture or relegate yourself to the back of the bedroom, I say embrace it!

Get yourself some sex toys, put on some sexy lingerie and embrace your inner sexuality.

Menopause is THE opportunity of your lifetime. ENJOY IT!

12 May 2024From Vanilla to Varied - A Beginner's Guide to Exploring Kink | Ep 3900:10:35

In today's episode, I'm diving into the world of kink, a term that captures a broad spectrum of activities beyond the conventional or "vanilla" intimate practices. Kink isn't just about the extreme of dungeons and dramatic scenarios; it's fundamentally about venturing into desires that stray from one's usual experiences, which could be as straightforward as altering the ambiance with different lighting.

Within this realm, BDSM stands out as a notable subset, encompassing bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadomasochism. Many people find kink a playful and explorative outlet, a healthy way to relieve stress, and an avenue for fostering deep trust and communication with their partners.

This journey into understanding kink and BDSM invites us to broaden our perspective on the diversity of human pleasure and the ways in which adults can engage in consensual, informed, and joyful exploration.

14 Apr 2024Empowering Women’s Welless-Navigating Menopause & Sexual Health with Dr. Alyssa Dweck | Ep 3400:43:45

In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Alyssa Dweck, a seasoned gynecologist and chief medical officer of Bonafide Health, whose expertise in female sexual health and menopause offers invaluable insights.

Dr. Dweck shared with us the common sexual health challenges women face, especially during menopause, such as sexual pain, diminished libido, and the impact of medical issues on sexual function. She emphasized the importance of open communication with healthcare providers and highlighted non-hormonal treatments like vaginal moisturizers and lubricants as game-changers for women experiencing vaginal dryness.

Dr. Dweck's approach to addressing these sensitive issues with compassion and evidence-based solutions truly resonated with me, reinforcing the message that women do not have to navigate these challenges alone. We also delved into the realm of hormone therapy and its misconceptions, particularly the nuanced conversation around vaginal estrogen and systemic hormone therapy.

Menopause isn’t a disease. So why does the world treat it like one? The whispers start early. Get ready—your body is about to betray you. The fear. The shame. The idea that once you hit a certain age, you’re less vibrant, less desirable, less… you. But what if that’s all a lie?

From the science behind hormonal changes to the emotional and societal impacts, this conversation is a must-listen for anyone navigating—or preparing for—this life stage.

We explore why menopause isn’t a disease, how hormone therapy can be a game-changer, and why the fear of breast cancer shouldn’t overshadow the benefits of treatment. Plus, we tackle the buzzwords like “natural” and “bioidentical,” and discuss the role of lifestyle, diet, and community in thriving through menopause.

This isn’t just a conversation about hormones—it’s about reclaiming power, understanding our bodies, and embracing the wisdom that comes with age. Are you ready to redefine menopause? Let’s dive in!

05 May 2024Beyond the High-Medical Cannabis & It's Impact on Women's Health with Dr. Staci Gruber, PART 2 | Ep 3800:21:27

In part 2 of my interview with Dr Staci Gruber, we delved into the complexities of cannabis use, including its potential for addiction, known formally as Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD). We also touched upon the evolution of cannabis potency over the years, with today's products containing much higher THC levels than those from decades ago, raising the stakes in the risk-benefit analysis of cannabis consumption.

The conversation further explored the medical applications of cannabis, highlighting its utility in managing pain, sleep disorders, and other health issues. The conversation also ventured into the areas of women's health, underscoring the lack of research and the growing interest in cannabis for managing conditions like endometriosis and menopause symptoms. It was a reminder of the importance of being an informed consumer, understanding the goal of your cannabis use, and ensuring the safety and efficacy of the products you choose.

Our dialogue underscored the evolving landscape of cannabis use and research, highlighting the need for more education and open conversations between consumers and healthcare providers to navigate the complexities of cannabis as both a medicinal and recreational substance.

Watch the full episode here. About Dr. Gruber Dr. Staci Gruber is the Director of the Cognitive and Clinical Neuroimaging Core at McLean Hospital’s Brain Imaging Center and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gruber’s research focuses on the application of neurocognitive models and brain imaging to characterize risk factors for substance abuse and psychiatric conditions. Dr. Gruber launched Marijuana Investigations for Neuroscientific Discovery (MIND) in 2014, the first-ever program of its kind designed to clarify the long-term impact of medical cannabis use.

Dr. Gruber also launched the Women’s Health Initiative at MIND, or WHIM, the first cannabis-focused program designed specifically to address women’s health and disorders that disproportionately affect women as well as some transgender and non-binary individuals.

This change has led me to ponder if the effectiveness or appeal of dating apps is diminishing.

In this episode I peel back the layers on:

  • The shifting dynamics of dating apps like Bumble and Hinge.
  • The quest for genuine connections amidst AI's rise.
  • Innovations we crave for deeper, real-life engagements.

30 May 2024Polyamory 101 | Ep 4200:06:45

In today's episode, I'm diving into polyamory, a lifestyle choice centered around engaging in consensual relationships with multiple partners. Polyamory, a blend of 'poly' meaning many and 'amor' for love, manifests in various forms, including hierarchical polyamory, where a primary relationship takes precedence over others, and non-hierarchical relationships, where all partners are considered equal.

The essence of polyamory lies in the mutual consent and agreement on the terms of the relationship, which distinguishes it from infidelity. It’s a path that requires open communication and a clear understanding of the guidelines everyone involved agrees to follow. Navigating polyamorous relationships can be complex, involving not just sexual connections but emotional ones that demand a high level of understanding and constant communication to manage potential jealousy and ensure the relationship's health.

Bat Sheva has dedicated her career to empowering women to find pleasure in their bodies and spirit by combining medical and psychological approaches to women's sexual health. Having met Bat Sheva years ago when she was my doctor, I credit her with starting me on my journey to openly discuss sexuality, a topic often shrouded in silence.

Our conversation delved into the complexities of maintaining a healthy sex life, especially as we age and navigate the inevitable changes that come with long-term relationships. Batsheva emphasized the importance of debunking myths around sex, advocating for a proactive approach to addressing sexual issues, rather than succumbing to the hopelessness that can arise when sex and intimacy issues remain unaddressed.

Addressing sexual challenges requires acknowledging that sex and relationship dynamics can evolve, emphasizing that solutions are often within reach with the right guidance and willingness to explore. 30 Jun 2024How Dirty Talk Deepens Connection and Enhances Pleasure | Ep4800:07:29

Dirty talk in the bedroom might not be everyone's cup of tea, yet it's a powerful tool for staying present during sex. Women tend to get lost in their thoughts, worrying about whether their partner is getting bored or if they're taking too long to reach orgasm, which can detract from the pleasure of the experience.

The same goes for men, particularly those dealing with erectile dysfunction, who might find their performance anxiety worsened by overthinking. In a previous episode, I discussed the importance of pleasure and touch, in this episode, I'm suggesting we engage our minds differently through dirty talk.

It doesn't have to be offensive or crass; it can be sweet and subtle, starting with something as simple as sexting to build anticipation for your next intimate moment together.
