Moms can experience a range of emotions and mental health hurdles, as to be expected with such a big life transition! From postpartum depression and anxiety, to intrusive thoughts, and even postpartum rage. How do you know if you're affected by one? When is it time to seek support? In this episode, I interview Dr. Andrea Niles, Clinical Psychologist and Co-Founder of Prospera Mental Health and Wellness. She breaks down the top mental health disorders, how to know when to seek support, and how you can support your postpartum mental health starting in pregnancy. I find that there tends to be a lot of shame surrounding maternal mental health and, often, a lack of accessible resources to help. 28 Mar 2023 | 42. 8 Simple Wellness Tips for Tired Mamas | 00:28:29 | |
There comes a time (okay, several times) on your pregnancy and motherhood journey you may encounter phases of pure fatigue. It’s the kind of tired you can’t just fight off with caffeine, but actually forces you to slow down. One area that can be especially be hard to adjust is our fitness and wellness routine. The tendency I often see is to stop everything all together until your energy comes back, which can make it a lot harder to get back into it. Alternatively, you can turn down the dial a bit, give yourself space to rest, and keep taking care of yourself in simple, manageable ways. That way, when you do feel better (and you WILL), it’ll be much easier to turn the dial back up. In this episode I share 8 simple ways you can continue to take care of your physical and mental wellness, while supporting your energy in phases of exhaustion. Links! I hope this episode sheds some light on the reality that postpartum can sometimes be, the stuff most people don't love to share. I also hope this will give you hope that there is support if you too have challenges postpartum.
