18 Mar 20219 | How to write an impact statement00:08:22

Just about every Executive Director has been asked the question, “so what do you do?”

There’s a lot of power in having a very clear and simple answer to that question.

But unfortunately, what happens most often is that you dive into your uber boring professional/corporate/robot voice and the result is whoever just asked you the question starts to tune out the message because it’s just not inspiring them.

In this episode, we’re diving into the 4 questions you need to answer to create your kicka** impact statement.

25 Feb 20216 | Steal my systems00:21:48

When you’re on the path to greatness, it’s important to get your systems working for you and not against you. Below are my recommendations based on what I use in my business and have used with organizations over the years:

Donor Management

I recommend Bloomerang and Keela equally. Your donor management system is the lifeline of your organization. This is where you keep records of all the interactions with your donors, their giving history and in return, they make managing the admin side of things a lot easier.

Click here to learn more about Bloomerang

Click here to learn more about Keela

Email Management

ConvertKit is my jam. While the donor management systems do have some email functionality, if you’re not quite ready for a full DM system or you want to keep your email separate, then I recommend ConvertKit. It’s a simple layout, you can create automations right away with the Creator level plan at just $29/mo up to 1,000 contacts.

Click here to learn more about ConvertKit

General Email + Cloud Storage

Gmail + Google Workspace is your BFF if you’re looking for an email for your organization. Gmail integrates with a ton of apps making it super easy to connect all the things. Additionally, Google Workspaces give you access to the entire Google Suite and Cloud Storage -- which is a great option for any teams having to go virtual. I recommend going with the Business Standard option at $12/me because you get 2 terabytes of storage. Which is a lot.

Click here to learn more about Google Workspace + Gmail

Project Management

If you’re fighting the never-ending to-do list along with how to track everything you’re doing, you know, in case you’re ever hit by a bus… then Asana is going to be your BFF. Whether you are a solo ED or you are a team taking on the world, this system is where you can house all your work in one place and make collaboration your middle name. And, it’s FREE!

Click here to learn more about Asana

More recommendations:

  • Easy to set up websites with Squarespace
  • Graphic design has never been so easy with Canva
  • Zapier is your connector when systems don’t connect.
  • Schedule your social media with Planoly
  • Use Loom to deliver quick video/screen share messages to team members.
  • Zoom is just a part of our everyday lives now
  • Ever wonder how you can have multiple links in your Instagram bio, it’s called Linktree
  • Airtable is a versatile platform that can be used to fit almost any need

For team communication, Slack is a fan favorite

While the actual act of moving from one task to another takes only a few seconds, it can actually take your brain up to 20 minutes to settle back in and focus on something new. That’s a LOT of time throughout the day if you’re bouncing between projects.

In today’s episode, we’re discussing the 4 things you can do to create 90-day goals. Because why plan for 12 months when 12 WEEKS is WITHIN REACH?  With 90-day goals, you can make steady adjustments, take action week-by-week, and focus on working towards outcomes.

If you’re nodding your head, then let me remind you that they definitely have had their moments of chaos.

That being said, when you dig into the most successful organizations, the successful EDs have these 4 things in common:

2 → They show up consistently

3 → They’ve set up systems + automation

4 → They’re supported by a coach + community
