Show Date: 3/21/23 Dan and Andy talk High School Wrestling with Kurt Becker and Bill McDonald, the Co-Head Coaches for the Watertown-Mayer Wrestling team. Their team finished with a 23-3 dual record and finished 2nd in the Section in 2023, and won the Section in 2022 and advanced to the State Tourney, where they finished 4th. Titan Friederichs (113 lbs.) went a perfect 45-0 this season winning the state title. He was the first wrestler in 39 years to complete a season undefeated in school history. The last to do so was Co-Head Coach Bill McDonald, who went on to star at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) and become a four-time All-American. While still in his 20s, Woodward bought controlling interest in the city’s professional baseball team, the Coal Barons. He then sought help from the legendary Connie Mack in designing “The Finest Minor League Ballpark Ever” in this booming iron-and-steel town, the fastest growing city in the nation at that time. Woodward’s passion was contagious. Fueled by fervent publicity, the entire city of Birmingham was closed for business in honor of the park’s opening day, August 18, 1910

College Hockey (men's and women's) and basketball (men's and women's) winter season is wrapping up.   Conference Tournaments for the next two weekends and Selection Sunday  will be Sunday, March 15.   Sports and Songs will be hosting a Men's Bracket NCAA Basketball Pick ' Em Challenge.

High School Hockey finals are today and Girls basketball Sectional Finals are done.  Brackets for the Girls Tourney will be announced this week for all four classes.

Boy's High School Basketball are in the midst of their Sectional playoff games and we'll have more on those games next week.

Andy had music/concert notes and Dan reviewed the album "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath that was released in January, 1971.
