Kaitlyn reveals, arguably, her favorite signing of the offseason before the duo discusses Toronto's rotation. Kaitlyn humble brags about how smart she is which sets the table for her rotation grades. (Is a 'B' really that generous?) Let's talk about Robbie Ray and Jake Odorizzi. 09 Jul 2020 | Zubes Zooms In: Martin Earns Moolah, Schedule Without a Stadium & More w/ Sportsfeld's Andrew Zuber | 00:58:40
Heeeee'ssss bbaaccckkk. Andrew Zuber, aka Zubes, joins Drew and Ol' Reliable to applaud Toronto first-round pick Austin Martin on signing above slot (6:00). Will Martin fill a vacant spot in the Blue Jays' player pool (16:00). The full nest hesitate reacting to Toronto's schedule because of an important missing ingredient: there's no concrete location for a home stadium (18:25). The guys ask ponder amid the continued civil unrest, is there a situation where the national anthem isn't played (24:30)? Has there ever been more monumental time for players to use their platform to bring about change? Besides the obvious, why does it take million/billion dollar corporate partners voicing their disdain against insensitive team names for action to take place (28:45)? Oh, and will there be a season, because tests and its accompanying results aren't being delivered fast enough (35:30)?Follow Andrew!: https://www.patreon.com/sportsfeld

22 Nov 2021 | Can Vlad, Ray repeat their breakout seasons? 40-man discourse & Jays' awards recap | 01:16:42
In honor of Thanksgiving, Drew and Kaitlyn share what they are thankful for, which is, of course, down ballots. Yes! Spin Rate feasts on down ballots, as we review the MLB award season and which Jays earned deserved accolades. Before plunging into which Jays won honors, the duo discuss Jose Berrios' press conference, and what his signing foretells about the Jays' future. Robbie Ray brought home the AL Cy Young award. Was his near-unanimous selection expected, and can he duplicate his 2021 performance next year (considering he stays with Toronto)? Vlad Jr. and Marcus Semien boasted incredible performances in 2021. Performances that in any other year would have earned them MVP and runner-up honors, respectively; however, their breakout play coincided with Shohei Ohtani's showstopping, once-in-a-century unanimous MVP run. Will we ever see another jaw-dropping season, like 2021, from Vlad? Drew and Kaitlyn confab about Alek Manoha and Charlie Montoyo earning votes for Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively. Lastly, 40-man roster discourse!

06 Jul 2021 | Four Jays to play All-Star Game; first-half team grades & Drew gives credit to the Rays?! | 00:57:47
*In Steve Harwell singing voice* "Hey now, Jays got four All-Stars, get on the field now, and go play". Toronto smashed all other American League teams in All-Star participants with four honorees, including three starters, the most of any team regardless of conference. Drew and Kaitlyn discern whether if all that glitters is gold with Toronto's ASG members. Was it madness, enlightenment, a revelation(?) that caused Drew to compliment the Rays? The first-ever instance on Spin Rate where Drew praised Tampa Bay is followed by him and Kaitlyn breaking down the Jays' series win versus the aforementioned Florida club. The duo dish out team grades at the season's midway point, and discuss Robbie Ray's surprisingly good performance this year. Plus, will the Jays be back in Toronto before the end of the season?

08 Jul 2021 | So long, Rowdy Tellez; the Alejandro Kirk conundrum & Wild Card projections w/ Jonah Birenbaum | 01:02:04
With the same battery-energy as Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra, Drew and Jonah Birenbaum pitch and catch Blue Jays musings with such panache, you'd think they were on the diamond. The guys bid farewell to Rowdy Tellez, who was traded to Milwaukee in exchange for pitcher Trevor Richards. Will Tellez's departure affect the team negatively? Is Richards' addition a boon to the bullpen? Finally, Drew can fully unleash his outer (yes, outer, not inner) Shohei Ohtani fanboy with Jonah around. Who will win the AL MVP, Shohei or Vlad? Trade machine time! Is Alejandro Kirk next out the door, or should Toronto start him as a valued offensive producer? Nate Pearson is a goner at this point, right? Could Toronto nab either Berrios or Castillos to fortify their rotation? What about Jose Ramirez? To close, the teammates flick through who's in the mix for the AL Wild Card and compare the Blue Jays to those clubs.

13 Jul 2021 | The Midway Pod: Jays draft Hoglund; collapse or surge in second-half; time for Joey Gallo & Vlad for Ohtani? | 01:04:29
As an homage to the Barenaked Ladies, I'm learning more and more about Canadian pop culture every day, "it's been one week since" you've listened to Drew and Kaitlyn together and, much "like Snickers, guaranteed to satisfy". Ole Miss pitcher, Gunnar Hoglund, was drafted 19th overall by Toronto in the MLB First Year Player Draft. Kaitlyn shares what she knows about the Jays' latest prospect, and details how the front office and scouting department perceives him. What's will more likely happen to Toronto in the second half of the season; will they collapse, surge forth, or remain unchanged in the last portion of the year? Is it fathomable the Jays trade for Joey Gallo? How would he affect the Jays? Lastly, Drew determines if he'd trade Vlad Jr. for Shohei Ohtani.

16 Jul 2021 | Jays' draft analysis & prospect report w/ Jeff Paternostro | 00:58:22
Fresh off the MLB All-Star Game, Drew and special guest Jeff Paternostro, lead prospect writer for Baseball Prospectus, discuss prospects with the potential to achieve an All-Star honor within the Blue Jays farm system, or just evaluate the young professionals in general. With the MLB Draft taking place within the last week, Drew and Jeff start there by analyzing Toronto's draft picks. Was drafting Gunnar Hoglund considered a steal? Could he develop into a middle-of-the-rotation starter? Ricky Tiedemann was scooped up by the Jays in the draft's third round. Tiedemann is one of many who was affected by the canceled high school sports season and 2020's condensed draft. What's his upside and is there extra confidence in him from Toronto's front office because he was able to overcome such odds last year? To wrap up draft chatter, what's the scouting report on Irv Carter, a prep arm out of Florida? What are Jeff's thoughts on Austin Martin and his Futures Game performance? Is the ex-Commodore on track with his growth? Plus, which prospects are fungible and which are untouchable if Toronto were to seek a trade. Also, Jeff wishes he would have graded Vlad's hit tools 80s.

In honor of "Old Town Road", Vlad's first walk-up song at Rogers Centre, the Jays' were going to ride their offense 'til they couldn't no more in their series sweep of the Rangers. What was the biggest takeaway in the series? (Spoiler alert: Aside from the offense, pitching. Full stop. Pitching.) Drew and Kaitlyn confabulate about the Jays' second-half schedule and discuss whether the club needs another starting pitcher. On July 30th, for the first time since 2019, the Toronto Blue Jays will play in their home ballpark. 23 Jul 2021 | Nelson Cruz joins Jays' nemesis; is a 2022 playoff push more realistic & is Vlad destined for Triple Crown w/ Rob Wong | 00:49:46
Drew welcomes Rob Wong, host of Blue Jays Baseball and Jays Talk on Sportsnet 590, to Spin Rate! The birds of a feather flock towards a recent development in the AL East, the Rays acquiring slugger, Nelson Cruz. What does this transaction portend for Toronto? Was Nelson a checkbox on the Jays' trade deadline wishlist? On this hypothetical wishlist, Joey Gallo is presumably a name underscored and circled for Ross Atkins and co. Should the Jays move Heaven and Earth for Gallo, or should they continue to wait and fortify their resources for the offseason when a 2022 playoff push might be more realistic? Is Vlad destined for the Triple Crown, and how valuable would Bo Bichette be as a trade piece?

26 Jul 2021 | Trade deadline preview: Is a Semien trade possible? Relievers to target & a Gallo trade proposal | 01:17:10
This is the week that will determine whether the Blue Jays believe they are a postseason contender. Before Drew and Kaitlyn propose a bevy of trade hypotheticals, they recap Toronto's troubles in the Big Apple. Drew lays out his defense for the Jays' 'Process vs. Progress'. Although the club dropped a pair to the Mets, the reshuffled lineup was a spark of inspiration for Jays fans, including Drew. Should Vladdy eventually hit fourth? Ryan Borucki was exposed. How should the lefty be deployed moving forward? Alejandro Kirk's return was very Kirk-esque, a smoothie of blended hitting prowess and face-palming flubs. Kaitlyn then details her hypothetical Blue Jays trade proposal to the Rangers for Ian Kennedy, Joey Gallo and more. Plus, what would it cost to extend Marcus Semien? Is it time to consider trading him?

Afterward, join Drew and Andrew Zuber, who recorded Thursday night before the Berrios trade, as they try to stave off emotional and mental breakdowns because the Yankees and Rays made, potential, division-altering moves. 02 Aug 2021 | Did Berrios cost too much? Triumphant return to Toronto & bullish on Espinal | 01:26:59
July 30th, 2021, was a day that will be chiseled into Blue Jays fans' DNA for years to come. After a two-year hiatus from Toronto, the birds finally returned to their nest and defended the Rogers Centre splendidly. Drew and Kaitlyn describe the emotions of last Friday to the best of their abilities and share sentiments from players, Jays' personnel, and fans alike. Did the Jays fork over too many high-profile prospects for Berrios? Drew and Kaitlyn deliberate Friday's magnitudinous trade, and take stock of Berrios' first outing as a TBJ. The pair also weigh the Jays' other transactions and gauge the performance of the revamped bullpen. Lastly, George Springer's first weekend at the Rogers Center; Alek Manoah's outings are breeding confidence in fans and teammates, and we Stan Santiago Espinal.

OK, well, maybe not so much silver as a nickeled lining...anyway. What will the lineup look like with Springer sidelined? The Viceroy of Vibes, Teoscar Hernandez, has blossomed into an unexpected contributor for Toronto in recent years but does his potential and current production outweigh his shortcomings? What wasn't underrated this week (great [bad] segue) was news of Vladimir Gurrero Jr. moving to first base (3:30). 04 Sep 2020 | Blue Jays Base Running Blunders & Opening the BAD Mailbag! | 00:59:49
There's few more qualified than the seasoned, grizzled Blue Jays podcast vets, Drew and Ol' Reliable, to fully convey the pang felt from watching the Jays' suspect base running (5:15). Chiefly, why is the team's base running so...so...bafflingly disappointing, and though fans take issue with the blunders, a fraction of a fraction are repulsed by players trying to make plays (10:15). Jays enthusiasts, rightfully, take issue with these shortcomings, but why is it they must labor through these mistakes (17:15)? Drew and (And)rew unseal hand-written (virtual) letters from listeners (24:30)! And, amazingly, all include thoughtful questions about the Blue Jays. Go figure. There's potential this novel idea is used, habitually, throughout the sports media landscape. Spread the word! Anyways, Jonathan Villar an upgrade at third base over Travis Shaw? Should the team consider welcoming back Justin Smoak (29:30)? (Note: This isn't a pithy or facetious question.) Is it time we quit chastising the Jays for every little flaw, and, instead, enjoy empty September baseball (32:15)? Does this whole condensed season thing count (35:15)? Would the club consider hanging a banner in the Rogers Centre rafters if they make the postseason? The guys have access to a time machine, right, and of all the crazy, wacky, time distorting things they could do; would they redo the Josh Donaldson trade (41:15)? Is it time Alejandro Kirk joins the team (42:30)? Lastly, Drew and Ol' Reliable take a stab at configuring Toronto's rotation in a three-game series (50:15).

12 Jun 2020 | Austin Martin Mania & Draft Potpourii with Sportsnet's Nick Ashbourne | 00:57:03
Sportsnet writer extraordinaire, Nick Ashbourne, accompanies Drew and Andrew on their trip through the Blue Jays MLB Draft (5:15). The triumvirate hone in on Toronto's top-selection, Austin Martin, and how he projects as a major leaguer, what skills he offers defensively and in future Jays' lineups and more. Hey, guess what? Toronto drafted more than one player, and they actually matter! The trio tackle the trajectory of CJ Van Eyk, Trent Palmer and other draftees. Once Nick departs, the Drew with two extra letters and Drew react to Keith Law's comments on Martin's upside (25:15). The guys wrap up the show by encouraging others to keep the dialogue about the injustices in our country open.

17 Sep 2020 | Tumbling Toronto, Fisher's Flubs, Expanded Playoffs to Stay & Final Stretch Expectations with Kaitlyn McGrath | 00:57:38
The Jays are a playoff team in the same way playoff teams are lifeless scarecrows constantly being pecked, soaked, beaten and being forced to watch actual good teams play baseball while trying to keep a smile. Drew, Stoeten and The Athletic's Blue Jays beat writer Kaitlyn McGrath pursue the truth...well...the relative truth; are the Blue Jays a playoff caliber team (:30)? What perspectives can these Jays journos present amid epic beatings? Derek Fisher...ugh (20:30). If MLB's expanded playoff format is here to stay, how do we feel about 16 teams vying for a pennant after 162 (28:00)? How does this adversely effect players? Magic number: 9. Ross Atkins pocketed some wads of cash after agreeing to a contract extension with Toronto. Was it well earned, or does uneasiness outrank the optimism (12:00)?
