01 Apr 2021 | #SlamRadio - 441 - DJ T-1000 | 01:05:24
ALAN OLDHAM has been called “Detroit’s Renaissance Man,” equally as known for his art as for his music under the pseudonym DJ T-1000.
The Detroit-born polymath, now living and working in Berlin, began his dual careers in the late 80s. First as the host of the “Fast Forward Program” on WDET FM 101.9, Detroit’s first-ever radio show devoted exclusively to electronic music, and as a young indie comic artist, writing and drawing his own original creation, “Johnny Gambit” (predating the Marvel character). Oldham was later tapped by his childhood friend, Derrick May, to illustrate the label art for the record, “Nude Photo,” on the fledgling Transmat label, and Detroit Techno history was made.
Oldham was later hired by another childhood friend, Jeff Mills, to do PR for the nascent Underground Resistance collective, writing press releases for the label. When Mills departed for a solo career, partner “Mad” Mike Banks tapped AO to replace him as DJ for their Australian Tour of 1992, and the codename DJ T-1000 was adopted.
Jumpstart to infamy.
Since then, as an international DJ, Oldham has spun all over the planet, as far afield as Manila, The Phillipines, and Shanghai, China. When he’s not behind the decks at home clubs Tresor Berlin and Suicide Circus (Berlin), on the road or in the studio making music for BPitch Control, Suspected Music, Third Ear, Elypsia Records, or his own Pure Sonik Records label, he is making new paintings and organizing art openings showcasing his iconic works. Oldham has put on art happenings in Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, and Detroit, as well as his works being currently on view at the Design Museum in London, as part of its “Electronic: From Kraftwerk to the Chemical Brothers” exhibit. On the graphic novel side, he has also worked on the Afrofuturist classic “The Book of Drexciya, Vol 1.”
Oldham is keeping busy during the current pandemic, drawing and painting, doing commission work, online teaching for RAMP Academy, making new music and remixing with MASCHINE MK3 and ABLETON, and generally moving forward in one of the world’s most creative cities, Berlin.

06 May 2021 | #SlamRadio - 446 - ASTRYD | 01:08:42
ASTRYD was born from the energy of driving a room to dance. The two brothers are co-founders and residents of Bristol’s Dialogue - parties which over the past four years have hosted the likes of Giant Swan, Machine Woman, object blue, Akua, Russell E. L. Butler, Loraine James and SPFDJ. These nights have carved out a niche in the Bristol scene, creating an ethos of queer-friendly spaces and diverse, forward thinking line-ups.
ASTRYD's first single, Lapse, was described by RA as ‘a slice of tense, brooding, broken techno’. Forthcoming EP Blind Summit is full of suspense and brimming with the energy of a dance floor in motion. With this EP, their expansive and visceral live sets have crystallised into four distinct tracks, unified by throbbing synths, thundering drums and wrapped in layers of grit.

13 May 2021 | #SlamRadio - 447 - JakoJako | 01:01:32
It started with an urge to play with sound, a DIY synth, and a desire to know more. After several years buried in books, manuals and patch cables, JakoJako was performing her first live sets around Berlin, and spending every spare penny on Eurorack modules. The passion became all consuming, and in 2017, she left her nursing career to work at the legendary Berlin synth shop Schneidersladen, where’s she’s been sharing her knowledge of tools and techniques with the city’s music makers ever since.
Technique is no use without ideas to apply it to, and fortunately JakoJako has a natural supply. “When you hear a sound in the environment, say a car passing by, you don’t appreciate the complexity until you think how you might synthesise it.” She explains. “Then it becomes something abstract; a collection of modulated pitches and timbres. I love to listen to the world like this..”
Her approach may seem studious, but JakoJako uses this fluency in the language of sound to convey emotion, and each track is an experiment, with success based on the intensity of feeling it creates. Her debut EP “Aequilibration”, released in 2019 on Leisure System Records, showcased this explorative mindset, with four very different stylistic ideas tied together through emotive sound design, sharp production, and a strong sense of melody.
The release was followed by a string of live gigs, performed with her modular system and Elektron boxes, including a release party at Berghain, playing a standout set alongside Ben UFO and Marie Davidson.
With regular events disappearing in 2020, live music migrated online, finding a global audience in shared experience of isolation. After streaming a live set for HÖR Radio, she was invited to take part in an online event for Arté, hosted by Innervisions and United We Stream, alongside Amé and Frank Wiedermann. This led to a filmed live performance in her studio for Fact Magazine’s Patch Notes series, and an in-depth video feature for Electronic Beats, which together have over half a million views (and counting).
Offline, JakoJako has made good use of the time in her studio, producing tracks on compilations for B-Pitch Control and Figure Records, remixes for Crouds on Intumi, and most recently, for New Order on Mute Records. More solo work is in the pipeline too, including a new EP for Leisure System Records, due in mid 2021.

22 Jul 2021 | #SlamRadio - 457 - Dimi Angelis | 01:16:21
To say that Dimi Angélis has been around, is to state the obvious. When during the late nineties techno first got hold in The Netherlands, Dimi was there to help shape the culture that would see it flourish. Promoting raves and warehouse parties in Amsterdam and putting his first needle on a record back when ‘underground’ actually meant something, he has since built a career that spans two decades. His craftsmanship is based on emotion, honesty and the from belief that music has the power to move and educate. Over time his path has taken him everywhere from Berghain and Awakenings to Under Club and Dekmantel.
Besides playing records, Dimi is an avid producer. After teaming up with Jeroen Search in 2004, the first half of his twenty-odd active years saw him release a string of sought-after EP’s and LP’s on Mission (6277/Axis), Stockholm LTD and their co-owned A&S label. Now, as the beginning of a third decade draws closer, Dimi’s been equally successful in putting out solo music on Mord, Warm Up Recordings, Axis Records, KEY Vinyl, Construct Re- Form, Krill Music, Falling Ethics and his own ANGLS imprint. Much like Dimi's ANGLS is a platform for open and straightforward techno, helping to shape the genre for another two decades to come.

29 Jul 2021 | #SlamRadio - 458 - Paolo Ferrara | 01:09:04
Based in Barcelona, this Italian artist has largely demonstrated his unique musical style: a mix of mental, disturbing melodies and powerful Techno. The name PØLI comes from the polygon, a geometric figure with multiple sides that represents the eclecticism of his music.
He has a Techno stamp, but he is not a purist and his sets always carry different influences coming from House, Detroit, Dance, Dub, Trance and 80’s music.
PØLI is well known for his strong closings, always ending with a great energy. Since his first performance and success at HEX, he has also performed at some of the best clubs and festivals in Barcelona and Europe, such as DGTL, Brunch-In the Park, Input, Razzmatazz, Amnesia, Nitsa, Moog, Laut, and many more. He has played alongside great international DJ’s like Ben Klock, Oscar Mulero, Jeff Mills, Ellen Allien, Marcel Dettmann, Len Faki, Chris Liebing, Ben Sims, DVS1, I Hate Models, Dax J, Rebekah, Paula Temple, Blawan, just to name a few.
In 2014 he founded the Techno movement HEX with his partner Lorenzo, quickly becoming a referent in Spain and now planning its expansion all around Europe. In 2015, PØLI was awarded the Best DJ Revelation prize by Barnabeats in Barcelona. 2019 was the year where Lorenzo and him launched their record label: HEX Recordings, through a first release on vinyl, composed by 4 originals from them and various remixes coming from a very talented roster of international Techno artists including Regal, Zanias, VSK, Insolate and many more.

05 Aug 2021 | #SlamRadio - 459 - Monix | 01:04:02
Monix, the alias of live musician, producer & DJ, Lance Blaise, has over 25 years in the industry. Monix has amassed a staggering catalog of music and original productions recorded under many different monikers/aliases.
Unconcerned with conventional elements of modern techno, Monix's live modular sets embody relentless and pummeling industrial sounds. Focus is spent on developing dense drones and harsh noise walls with distorted vocal elements and heavily distorted kicks which forcefully defy a 4x4 structure. All of his live sets are improvised “off the cuff” with nothing planned out ahead of time. Monix believes this allows every live experience to be an individual creation of sound.
A self-confessed ‘tech geek,’ Monix’s productions remain to be composed of all analog gear. His live performances consist of his modular hardware setup, but he is also known for his marathon hybrid DJ sets combining digital controllerism paired with analog gear.
It is fairly well known that Monix is legally blind, but he has still managed to adapt his live sets, productions & DJ techniques to overcome this battle. He also is very active in providing support and advocacy for other visually impaired artists, and he has assisted in developing software and hardware to make this journey easier for new and veteran visually impaired musicians and DJs.

19 Aug 2021 | #SlamRadio - 461 - Aida Arko | 01:10:08
Aida Arko is an Electronic Music Producer, DJ, Label Owner and Resident at ‘Grelle Forelle’ Austria, one of the most demanding clubs in Europe. She has gained huge international recognition thriving from Vienna with her latest releases, which include a rm x to the iconic track ‘Ghost Stories’ from Rebekah, a powerful debut EP on Suara, plus releases on the mighty Soma, Elements and Meat Recordings.
She established her sound signature as a new wave of hard edge driving techno with a seemingly unusual drone attraction, leaning on a dark percussive industrial tribalesque groove that grinds its way through the airiness of experimental soundscapes.
Having grown up in Iran in the 1990s, Aida was influenced by the Persian underground scene, as well as the wealth of cultural and musical heritage of her home country.
As a former biology student, she left the academy in pursuit of her real passion: Performance and music. Therefore she left the country in search of her teenage dreams, starting off working with a circus in Dubai and from there touring and traveling globally with a number of teams, performers, and infamous circus shows for
several years.
2017, after a life changing journey around the globe, she found her base in Austria and turned her years of artistry experience, focusing solely on music. 2018, she started organizing her own events, promoting, djing, and hosting floors at the most respected clubs in Vienna, while at the same time touring and working countless hours in the studio, unfolding her own sound.

16 Sep 2021 | #SlamRadio - 464 - Tred | 01:00:12
Materialising in the dank, unruly pockets of Australia’s warehouse rave scene, Tred now resides deep in Neukölln, Berlin, where he has sharpened a focus on his own narrative of modern club culture, identity and high powered techno weapons.
Cheeky, uncompromising and driven by an unrelenting tempo are common traits of a Tred set. This no bullshit approach has drawn the attention of the provocative Munich based queer collective Bottom Topixxx where he takes up residency. Whether it’s peak time at Säule or a closing set at Tresor, his sets emit restless energy that show little regard for genre definitions, assertively blending any style that he is entertained by. It’s rapid body music with an emotive tinge, all mixed with a flair that celebrates classic rave nostalgia, tribal groove and contemporary dance-floor burners.
A similar style emerges when you look into the growing back catalogue of Tred’s studio productions. Having had selected works pressed across imprints such as Lobster Theremin, 1Ø PILLS MATE, E-Missions, and Amniote Editions, what becomes obvious is his ability to capture the energy of many influences. Head-strong in approach, 2021 will see a number of debut’s further his sonic sensibilities.

02 Dec 2021 | #SlamRadio - 473 - Hioll | 01:09:10
Hioll has become one of the main influences within the rising cuban Electronic Music scene. Born and raised in La Habana (Havana) and carrying from the beginning, with humility, the flag of Cuban Techno.
Established Abstraction in 2017, the first electronic music label ever in Cubaʼs history and which is dedicated to showing the most outstanding talents from the island. But that has subsequently evolved to welcome new international artists and, as such, become a widely supported source of dance-floor cuts.
As a producer, Hioll's tracks exist in a powerful climax, which looks simultaneously from the most daring and strange hypnotic Techno to the most bizarre and industrial. He has many successful releases in respected and well known labels, being played and supported by big industry names.
This suggests a versatile artist with a strong personality, capable of generating rich and truly unique ideas and, eventually, translating them into a varied context of unprecedented sound experiences.

Tasha first made her name as a DJ in the drum & bass community, with her mixes being aired by DJ Flight on BBC 1Xtra and Storm making her resident at her Feline night, she became a firm part of the community, going onto play regularly at Renegade Hardware and across Europe. A dedicated head to the core, her exploratory experiences raving at London’s techno nights, being behind the counter, selling records at BM Soho and listening to more techno started to make their way into her sets and radio shows when she started out with her residency on Rinse FM. Radio has been a backbone of Tasha’s approach as a DJ - expressing her appreciation for electronic music over the course of 4 years on Rinse FM followed by a 3 year residency on Radar Radio.
Tasha’s DJing style matches this textured background of her influences and has developed into a master-flow of form - weaving tunes together seamlessly from her bass informed home of the UK alongside four four techno forms born in Berlin and Detroit. With an accomplished and atmospheric hold on the dancefloor, her sound is wholly affecting and has taken her to some of the best festivals and clubs in key cities around the world from London to Australia, including Tresor, Glastonbury, Bestival and is a regular at fabric and Corsica Studios.

By way of NYC, Berlin and before that Moscow, vinyl only techno DJ, producer and record label owner Mary Yuzovskaya has been cultivating her unique orbit in the electronic dance music firmament for over 14 years.
Having graced the decks of all Moscow’s hotspots back in the mid-2000s, Mary moved to Berlin, where she became recognised for both her blisteringly-precise vinyl-only techno sets and her painstakingly professional approach to the craft of DJing. After relocating to NYC in 2013 Mary quickly became a key figure in the US scene, performing regularly at different venues including multiple residencies at some of the city’s institutional parties like Unter, where she was a staple for three years, as well as working as a vinyl distribution manager at renowned Brooklyn-based record shop Halcyon. Back in Berlin since 2020, Mary solely runs her very own record label called @monday-off , launched in 2017, where she curates and presses work from artists that explore techno's trippier, more hypnotic side. Maintaining the connection with North America, she currently holds a residency at Public Records club in Brooklyn.
Mary has been busily traveling the world and performing her unique take on techno music’s deeper vibes at many noted clubs and parties across the world, including ://about blank, Arma 17, Basement (NY), Compound (LA), Distillery (Leipzig), Kablys (Vilnus), OHM (Berlin), Output (Brooklyn), Propaganda (Moscow), and Tresor, to name only a few. Her productions are released on such labels as Semantica, System Revival as well as her own Monday Off imprint.

03 Feb 2022 | #SlamRadio - 481 - Projekt Gestalten | 01:11:53
Head of the VRAAA label, both Projekt Gestalten and The Princess of
Death are the identities of Brazilian producer and DJ, Diego Garcia. A
celebrated protagonist on Berlin’s most sexually liberated dancefloor,
Pornceptual. Exploring pornography as an artform with the collective for more than five years now, their ringside promotion of events and parties globally has seen Garcia’s divergent agenda encourage and inspire its guests to freely explore their sexuality. It took to a point where a Boiler Room broadcast in partnership with the collective was deemed too explicit for YouTube before finding vindication on PornHub.
Adorning their DJ sets in various forms of white wedding dresses and
baroque embroidery, Projekt Gestalten’s sexual-kinks, queer desire and
bold feminine spirit flaunts a unrivaled promiscuity of tongue-in-cheek
tawdry that’s pushing techno music and its artistic, sexual appetites that
much further. While The Princess of Death is an introspective project
exploring distorting notions of masculinity. A figurehead within Berlin’s
queer techno scene, and diamond in the rough of ‘twenty-tens’ Netlabel
culture, Diego’s exploratory conquest of melodic, harmonic and hypnotic
sounds is starting to spread around.
Having found pride of place as an established entity controlling
soundtracks at risque nightspots and parties the world over - namely
making their way through London, St. Petersburg and New York to Sao
Paulo and Paris - Diego Garcia’s emergence from the obscure raves of
Berlin and its presiding internet culture now sees the artist, with a
burgeoning discography and remix catalogue for the reckoning, as an
out and loud center stage presence and trailblazing queer, music
identity.

10 Feb 2022 | #SlamRadio - 482 - Tham | 01:01:12
As we all know, there really is no shortage of artists in the vast field of electronic music, especially in the German capitol of Techno that is Berlin. They come and go with trends and seasons, build their hypes, and eventually vanish into the social medial void our postmodern
times have created.
However, there are those ones which stand out, which stay stuck in the eyes and ears of the public, which play and produce themselves in the collective memory of our community. Tham is one of those. As resident and face of underground public favourites like SYNOID, Griessmuehle,
and Lebendig, in just a few years the young artist has proven that he’s one to stay, to watch and to listen to.
Growing up on the dancefloors of Berlin – figuratively speaking – Tham’s artistic vision hails from and is always directed back to that very place which represents the crux of the matter of our entire subculture. His interpretation of Techno, his musical vision, lives on his drive to set people in motion. Pounding bass drums, complex grooves, and aggressive synth lines lashing through the crowd, taking their hypnotic effect. This is what Tham provides. Music ex machina, coming
out of nowhere, binding the eyes, ears, and bodies of his audience to the floor, to the very present, sticking to their brains, billowing through their minds for hours, long after they’ve left the club.

18 Feb 2022 | #SlamRadio - 483 - Francesco Argentieri | 01:25:05
Francesco Argentieri, class '96, is a South Italy based DJ and producer.
Since he was a child, his parents noticed his natural attitude to the music's listening and appreciation, developing in the early years of adolescence his love for rock and metal music. Since then, he started studying music, at first with classical guitar to then approach to the electric one.
Growing up, developing his own musical taste and getting experienced, even attending his first parties in the clubs, he matured an affinity with techno music, and so he started at first learning the roots of mixing, while still always searching for the most unheard music from all over the globe, making of him an ever-growing DJ, who thanks to his various musical influences, always manages to offer high impact DJ sets on the dancefloor.
2019 marked his debut as a producer, releasing on a VV.AA. for the infamous Dutch label Planet Rhythm, to then release in 2020 his first EP on Insolate's Out Of Place and in 2021 his first LP, "Natural Killer", on Diffuse Reality. At the end of 2021 he made his appearance in the first VV.AA. of the Italian Alone Records. 2022 just started with his contribution to the new installment of “Collective Process” on the infamous Soma Records.
This is just the beginning of what sounds like a bright future for this guy.

23 Mar 2022 | #SlamRadio - 486 - Scalameriya | 01:01:03
Scalameriya is a Serbian dj, producer and sound designer known for his
flashy mixing skills, eccentric productions and menacing synth design.
The combination of leaping into the world of techno at the age of 13 and
having an obsessive personality lead to extensive practice-sessions and the development of impressive dexterity in djing.
As difficult as growing up in Serbia has been, that experience gave him the necessary focus to dive deep into production and find refuge while creating his distinctive style of techno.
Scalameriya, written “Skalamerija” in Serbian, is a word used to describe any unfamiliar-looking device of an unknown or even non-existing purpose, function or origin. This became a concept that is reflected in the structure of his productions and dj-techniques. Often described as hard and aggressive, he claims that his sound is heavy and intimidating, insisting that those are similar, but divergent aesthetics. Scalameriya's individuality and militaristic work-discipline have proven to be prolific as his records can be found in catalogues of some of the most important record-labels.
Both as a dj and producer, Nikola demonstrates that he is an unstoppable force, delivering performances and soundtracks that are leaving behind lasting impressions all around the world.

28 Apr 2022 | #SlamRadio - 491 - DJ Godfather | 01:02:18
To celebrate Soma’s electro sub label @avoidantrecords new vinyl release ‘Dark Planet’, we have invited new Avoidant artist, DJ Godfather!
Listen here: https://avoidant.fanlink.to/darkplanet
With techno originally hailed as The House Sound of Detroit - there’s no denying the motor city has its own definitive genre: Ghetto Tech. A true pioneer of the sound, DJ Godfather, like so many in Detroit was inspired by local radio - WJLB, The Electrifying Mojo and Jeff ‘The Wizard’ Mills - but for Brian Jeffries, aka DJ Godfather, it was scratch DJs, hip hop and DMC battles that kick-started his love for turntablism.
Playing house parties and teen clubs as a 15-year-old, DJ Godfather quickly learned how to keep a dancefloor hot - and having actually purchased The Wizards’ turntables from the man Jeff Mills himself, DJ Godfather honed his craft. At 17 he found himself playing downtown bars and gigs in the suburbs, before taking off to warehouse raves and illegal parties, like those at Detroit’s Packard Plant.
An intimidating force behind the decks, he’s known to drop 60-to-70 records in a one hour DJ set, with plenty of flair, beat juggling and Detroit hustle in between. With his first solo record coming through the Twilight ‘76 label he set up in 1994, DJ Godfather would go on to establish the Databass imprint - still going strong with 150-plus releases - along with a specialised set of sub-labels including Juke Trax and D.E.T. Only.
For more than 25 years now DJ Godfather has been an advocate for ghetto tech at large, consistently drawing the biggest daytime crowd year-for-year at Detroit’s Movement Festival - uniting juke and jit dancers alike - while also exploring a myriad of genres like Miami bass, footwork, electro and more. Hooking up with the likes of Keith Tucker, Andrea Parker and DJs Deeon, Detroit Grand Pubahs and Fat Boy Slim over the years, it was only in 2020 that he saw the release of his 44 track debut solo album, Electro Beats For Freaks.
Following that up in 2021 with a 46-track second LP titled This Thing Of Ours, and the 2022 D3T.3L3CTR0 album - DJ Godfather never loses faith in how his music can bring different people and genres together. “To me ghetto tech is a culture; mixing techno, house, electro, and booty records to create one vibe,” he says. “I do ghetto tech records because it’s me. My one music that I’m passionate about. Love.”

05 May 2022 | #SlamRadio - 492 - Desroi | 01:01:49
There are origin stories about musicians as there are grains of sand at the sea – too many, yet seemingly never enough. And just as it is with snowflakes, each grain is unique in shape and texture, and tells a different story.
Desroi’s connection to music sometimes seem more like the relationship between a geologist and a grain of sand than the usual musician’s narrative would have us believe. For him, it’s not about the obvious things like harmonics, melodies, and simple arrangement. It’s about structure, the texture of clangor, the rhythm oscillating from each sonic wave and surface.
With each track – be it in his studio or in the DJ booth – he time and again dives into the complexity of sound, exploring, experimenting on the possibilities and limits of sonic feasibility. Yet he manages not to drown in the vastness of musical theory. Each time he returns, he brings back a piece of sound to add to his collection. Not to keep it to himself, but to pass it on to the place where electronic music belongs – the dance-floor.
Few manage to combine those levels of musical refinement with actual enjoyableness like Desroi does. His body of work as a producer, DJ, live act, and label head speaks volumes for itself – enticing in its apparent simplicity, mesmerizing through its depths at closer look, likable for its sheer genuineness. Just like a grain of sand.

When the wretched becomes the strong, when the obscure becomes the norm, when the twisted becomes reality, that is when madwoman blooms to her fullest. Hailing from Stockholm, the Berlinette-by-choice has taken her own sweet time to rise to the attention of ravers around the globe, and her body of work makes it clear that she has come to stay.
Fueled by diverse musical influences and guided by a strong as impeccable sense of aesthetics, madwoman has developed a sound very own to no one but herself. Inspired by bits and pieces of seemingly unconnected styles like Metal and Opera, Trip-Hop and Psychedelic Rock, she has found a way to incorporate all the above and more, to make them her own, to build something new.
Where others see differences, she sees similarities, where others make distinctions, she finds connections, where others see emptiness, she feels rooms full of opportunities.
Set in order by her vast creative mind, all her influences molded together and created a heavy artillery of sonic weapons aimed directly at the dancefloor. Her highly energetic up-tempo beat, interfused with heavy Industrial bits, blended with obscure sounds from beyond, manages to create atmospheres like no other. madwoman incites the rawest, purest form of rave on any dancefloor, and she enjoys it to the fullest.

09 Jun 2022 | #SlamRadio - 497 - Philippa Pacho | 01:04:52
Having grown up in a house where collecting music was the norm, Swedish-born DJ Philippa Pacho has carried this through to her adult life. As a result, the Berlin-based artist is a well-tuned and confident selector who knows how to capture an audience in any given situation.
It all began with her father’s hobby of collecting jazz, blues and folk records. As a teenager, Philippa built her own music library before attending her first rave, and later discovering the underworld of dance music and club culture.
As standard in a community of electronic music heads, Philippa made friends from the scene in Stockholm and in 2010, formed a collective with a handful of girlfriends. Together, the women curated their night every Thursday at 2:35:1; an art gallery and club located in the city centre. It was here that Philippa delved into DJing headfirst, taking advantage of the creative freedom on offer and learning the skills of mixing and working the dancefloor until dawn. With two years of DJing under her belt, by this time she earned a residency at the Stockholm-based club Under Bron — where she remains the longest-running resident since the space opened in 2010 — Philippa’s early sound leant towards hypnotic techno, but she has since graduated to a include myriad of bouncy and tripped-out rhythms within the genre.
Playing at forest raves on the outskirts of Stockholm and upending abandoned warehouses in the city — balanced between Under Bron bookings — these raw experiences infiltrated Philippa’s sound down to the last cadence, resulting in her groove-heavy collection and quick-fire blending.
Making the move to Berlin in 2014 allowed Philippa to flourish and finesse her sound. Known today for merging contemporary and old-school techno while dipping into different tempos and sub-genres, Philippa has played for Ellen Allien’s We Are Not Alone series, Synoid parties and DJ Tool, D.Dan and Hyperaktivist’s event, Mala Junta. Such a diverse range of bookings has allowed her to reveal other dimensions to her sound, and joining MESS line-ups — a collective that celebrates diversity and supporting DIY club culture worldwide — has recently contributed to the growth of Philippa’s profile.
A recent chapter for Philippa sees her founding the label ‘positivesource’ together with Blue Hour. The pair release various artist EPs from artists including Oprofessionell, Newa, Sugar, Alan Backdrop, Rove Ranger, Lady Starlight, LDS, Blue Hour himself and many more.
With the return of nightlife, Philippa’s focus remains crisp and clear; her goal is to get you to move your whole body in expressive ways. She sees herself as a dancer first and foremost and has that always in mind when she performs. "A good DJ set is like a candy bag. You need a bit of the sweet, sour and some unexpected flavours to tickle your taste buds."

BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL aka Karin & Ty, are a duo on the rise. In their ten years of experience, they have defined an iconic new sound oscillating between classic 90s techno, jackin' Chicago acid, and hypnotic, ass-shaking machine funk.
The pair has been on a roll recently, releasing a string of highly sought-after cuts on Hardgroove, Symbolism, Super Rhythm Trax, and Balkan Vinyl, while picking up support from techno titans such as Ben Sims, Josh Wink, Truncate, The Advent, Ben Klock, Luke Slater, and Marcel Dettmann.
On the dancefloor, their masterfully crafted mix of techno meets acid, breaks, and rave morphs into the energetic peak-time force that has come to define the BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL sound. Their sets are fast-paced and muscular, transporting us to the golden era of techno while also moving us firmly into the future, showcasing their appreciation for the past while creating something new altogether.
Over the last years, they've made their mark turning out incredible sets for Ben Sims' MACHINE, Watergate, ADE, Blitz, The Block, Dockyard, MARICAS, HE.SHE.THEY, Milkshake, and Motion Bristol. If you've ever seen the duo live, you'll know they have that elusive magic touch. Every time Karin and Ty hit the decks, they bring all the twisted arcs, goosebumps, and mind-melting sensations. Without a doubt, you're in for an unforgettable journey.

14 Jul 2022 | #SlamRadio - 502 - Vendex | 00:52:08
Vendex has found his way, the path of Techno, with a philosophy that envelops him in a cloak of darkness.
Influenced by the literature of Dante Alighieri in his work the Divine Comedy, as well as everything related to history, Vendex comes with the intention of creating a path to an inner journey wrapped in dark melodies, blunt and sharp bass that defy the natural , reaching supernatural sounds that touch or even reach what would be the sound of the underworld. Generating sounds that guide the Dantesque idea of a trip in the underworld with the aim of reaching paradise. All this through a forceful and enveloping sound, this creating a path to the nine levels of hell, purgatory and finally reaching paradise

21 Jul 2022 | #SlamRadio - 503 - DLV | 00:58:50
Vienna-born and Berlin-based DLV is not a blank slate in Europe’s techno industry. He defines his music as a realm of sinister peak-time Techno.
A strong focus on productions and his DJ career made him score an underground hit called “Rave Instructor“. This heavy dance-floor weapon achieved some big support coming from techno royalties such as Amelie Lens, Regal, and many more.
Besides his longstanding residency at Grelle Forelle, he kept pushing his personal limits. As founder of Acid Techno Techno Club, a Vienna-based label and event series he started working as well behind the scenes and contributing to the techno industry. Soon he became a well-known and respected figure in the Austrian capital’s Techno scene.
The dedication to his work and passion for music, resulted to perform at Red Bull’s Soundclash in Stuttgart back in 2019, followed by shows in Europe‘s infamous Techno capitals Berlin and Paris. With convincing performances, he could gain international attention for his projects.
During the current pandemic situations, he focused on new productions and could score a release on Klangkünstler‘s OUTWORLD. With „Der Teufel (Gazometer 98 Mix)“ he once more gained international support by Kobosil, Amelie Lens, Dax J and many more pushing him to the top of the Beatport Hard Techno charts.

With strong and very successful releases, on Ben Sim’s Label Symbolism, on Out of Place and Soma records she made a bigger step to the music scene while her music has gained massive and diverse support, from artists like Amelie Lens, Answer Code Request, Luke Slater, Marcel Fengler, Pan-Pot, Insolate, Volster, Ben Sims, Anfisa Letyago, Joris Voorn, Slam, Blue Hour, Richie Hawtin, Patrick Mason, just to name a few, charting and playing her tracks very often.
Her track “Fairy Dust” on Out of place records gained massive support from the scene counting more than 700.000 streams on Spotify & many more on all other platforms. She has already two shows in HÖR berlin, while she booked a third one this September! Her future though seems brighter, with her new collaborations with Ben Sim’s label Hardgroove, Soma records, as long as many vinyl releases & V/ A vinyl compilations later this year.
Her point of view is that a Dj is never greater than his audience. This is a unique situation where the dancer becomes part of the whole setting of the music being played. In this, her role is as much part of the audience as the dancers. Basically, she always has one foot on the dance floor and one in the booth.

27 Oct 2022 | #SlamRadio - 517 - Risa Taniguchi & Black Asteroid | 01:07:11
Risa Taniguchi is arriving at the forefront of the dark techno wave that has washed over the underground in recent years. The Tokyo born - and based - artist has spent the last four years cultivating a lo-fi sound of distorted textures, fizzing synths and a quietly burning energy, which consumes all who hear it.
Preferring to play sets which are "late night, for the weirdos", Risa has a knack for getting crowds in a nocturnal trance, before delivering shocks and surprises with a curious motif or unpredictable element. For those who like to cut loose in a dark environment, she is the perfect selector.
In the studio as well as the club, Risa focuses on the drums, programming kicks that bring visceral and often aggressive thrills next to a uniquely addictive layer of well designed snares and hi hats. Her signature has become her own subtle and intriguing vocal samples, best heard on Slipped My Mind and This Guy. She adds layers of acid bass and an always raw, edgy aesthetic. Having experienced them first hand whilst living in London, in 2010, Risa also has an enduring love of underground UK bass sounds, which can be heard in many of her tracks. The multi-talented act is also formally trained and a skilled player of the piano, who continues to play daily.
Since her first release back in 2018, Risa has attracted high profile interest from A-list players Amelie Lens, Dense & Pika, Pan Pot, Perc and Daniel Avery; has hit the Top 5 of the Beatport's Leftfield Techno Chart and played everywhere from De Marktkantine in Amsterdam to Watergate in Berlin, and of course all the most revered spaces all across Japan including Contact, Womb, and Vent.
Despite the pandemic, the recent years have proven to be a high watermark for Risa as she has delivered a continuous flow of new music, primarily on Pan Pot’s Second State and on Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains. With both of these mighty techno duos giving Risa their support and platforms, it has enabled her to start taking her first major footsteps into Europe, picking up her first headline bookings there.
In 2022, she teams up for the first time together with Black Asteroid, a former engineer for Prince, and the duo will deliver three gritty, hard-hitting techno tracks on Chris Liebing's CLR.
BRYAN BLACK aka BLACK ASTEROID started his music career as a sound designer and keyboard tech for PRINCE at PAISLEY PARK STUDIOS in his hometown of Minneapolis. While working for Prince, black proceeded to create his own music- some of the most innovative techno records released on labels such as MUTE and KOMPAKT.
These records caught the ear of MARTIN GORE from DEPECHE MODE. Soon after, Black was on tour with Depeche Mode with his band MOTOR, and recording songs with Martin Gore at his home studio in Santa Barbara and Berlin. Together Black and Gore wrote a top 40 single “Man Made Machine”.
In 2011 the debut BLACK ASTEROID single, “Engine 1” introduced Black Asteroid to the world, and introduced an industrial rock sound into techno that quickly took off, propelling Black to play at clubs such as Berghain, Fabric London and major festivals. The focus was in favor of song structures and vocals in a techno template.
After a string of EPs, the debut album “Thrust” was released in 2017 with many cross over singles, featuring vocals from ZOLA JESUS, COLD CAVE and MICHELE LAMY.
The fashion designer RICK OWENS picked up on what was happening, and used Black's music for his runway shows in Paris. The two quickly became friends and collaborators.
Currently Black Asteroid is prepping a new album and several EPs, in addition to working in the fashion world, having just released a collection of sunglasses with Valley Eyewear, and music for Raf Simons and Rick Owens.

17 Nov 2022 | #SlamRadio - 519 - Paula Koski | 01:01:50
Paula Koski specializes in the space between mental and fast-paced, groovy techno. The Finnish-born, Berlin-based DJ is in her element when performing energetic peak-time or closing sets, such as at Tresor, where she is a regular. Paula is inspired by the queer techno scene, where she finds expressive freedom as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Integrally connected to her audience, she brings her sets to life through the experiences of like-minded people—on dance floors and across cities that most need her representation.
Paula’s talent for telling stories through her sets stems from her background as a fashion journalist, during which she began her career as a DJ. It wasn’t long until her potential was recognized, and she moved to Berlin to pursue her musical aspirations. For several years, Paula continued her work as a writer for the techno monolith Monument where she was also the head of premieres and resident. Now focusing on her own music, she works closely with On Board management who has seen her profile grow rapidly.
With appearances at Berghain, RSO, Hall Tallinn, as well as other key clubs in Europe and beyond, watch for Paula as she unites dance floors alongside the likes of DVS1, Aurora Halal, Stef Mendesidis, and more.

Honing his skills for years, he is renowned for his craftmanship both as a DJ and a producer. 01 Dec 2022 | #SlamRadio - 521 - OVERDRIVE | 02:08:18
OVERDRIVE (VII Circle and Tham)
Two like-minded shadows scouring through the night, distorted sounds hailing from the void, obscure images emerging out of the dark – a new musical formation has risen from the edge of our postmodern world: OVERDRIVE.
The musical duo, consisting of Synoid’s THAM and the Destroy To Rebuild head VII CIRCLE, have arrived to deliver some sorely needed sonic clarity to the raving nation. Processing the aching zeitgeist of this decade, the two artists have combined their technical craft and musical vision to create an artistic body of work second to few. Distorting sounds into a gaping pit of overwhelming sonic force, bending rhythms into patterns of ecstasy, multiplying harmonies, grooving them into the very present – OVERDRIVE is the name of the game.
What should you expect? – Unapologetic DJ sets, driven by an unquenchable thirst for rave. DJing, not understood as a blunt sequencing of matching records, but as building up musical narrations. Telling the stories of our youth, not with words but with synth lines, high hats, snares, and a hell of a lot of bass drum. Converting sonic energy into physical movement, transforming pain for a broken world into the blissful ecstasy of the night

08 Dec 2022 | #SlamRadio - 522 - Sorcery | 01:05:17
Sorcery cuts a unique presence in electronic music’s experimental underground. A passion for the interaction between acoustic and electronic instruments has lead to the creation of intricate, mind bending and challenging compositions. Whilst the intense, polyrhythmic power-play that underpins Sorcery’s live performances leaves a compelling mark, his compositions reveal a mastery of both the acoustic instruments and analogue equipment that define his sound. With a long-established artistic persona proving as polymorphic as his skillset, Ettore’s message cuts as striking and uncompromising, defined by a bold aesthetique-noire he can call his own. There's an unrelenting and visceral impulse to his work, defined by a life-long and far-reaching passion for the rhythmic qualities of music. It’s a compelling, abrasive alchemy, defined by a belief in pursuing the ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’. This is 'total' music production: composition, collaboration, performance and recording - of which Ettore is proven a master in all four disciplines.

12 Jan 2023 | #SlamRadio - 527 - Laure Croft | 01:36:12
Dutch-born, Berlin-based DJ Laure Croft lives by the mantra ‘keep it sexy’. Her intention when she takes to the decks is to initiate the liberation that comes from the most powerful dancefloor experiences, when clothes come off and the energy reaches fever pitch. Her sound is a constant rush of high-intensity techno spanning the mid 90s to the mid 00s, mixed with the tactile, precarious thrill of vinyl. Continually digging for the tracks which fit her particular creative vision, she holds true to techno’s inherent futurism by creating something new and ever-evolving from the music she plays. Pulling together the pieces of the puzzle from decades of techno culture carved into a near-infinite pool of uptempo, forward-facing machine music.

09 Mar 2023 | #SlamRadio - 535 - The Serpent & The Owl (Brad Lee & Wetworks ) | 01:07:05
Ouroboros is a gnostic and alchemical symbol that expresses the unity of all things, material and spiritual, which never disappear but perpetually change form in an eternal cycle of destruction and re-creation.
Native American peoples attach several meanings to the appearance of an owl, but owls are generally seen as messengers from the spirit world to humans. Among the Hopi people, owls represent a warning about sorcery. For the Ojibwe people, owls always warn of evil and death.
Our Brotherhood has been tried, tested, and fortified.
Stand present for auditory discipline.
We have a statement to be delivered.

16 Mar 2023 | #SlamRadio - 536 - Anastasia Kristensen | 01:13:55
Anastasia Kristensen's greatest gift is to weave an electrifying sonic thread through her DJ Sets. She gathers sounds from a vast array of styles, enthusiastically researches off-grid electronics and blends them together through an adventurous, if not infectious, mixing technique. Dance oriented Avantgarde - that is exactly her edge.
Her BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix turned so many heads that it got nominated for the Best Essential Mix of 2022 and is a testament to her ability to select and synthesize.
To become the selector that she is today, Anastasia embraced non - conformity and fortitude throughout her life. Non - conformity, that means a musical curiosity that explores the less conventional places in electronic music, but it also means continuously aiming for her audience to let go on the dancefloor.
At present she hosts regular all-nighters at Den Anden Side, a new underground venue in her hometown Copenhagen and holds a residency at Mainstream, the city's most reputable LGBTQ party. Both platforms stand for her versatility and community orientation and are key contributors to her experience of playing foggy high quality basements and festival stages dexterously and with devotion.
I’s a rare quality to perform with such an ease in these divergent ambiances. Even more so, to provide such an engaging variety of sounds there and to captivate the audiences in an instant. Whoever attends one of Kristensen’s kaleidoscopic sets should be ready to get lost and experience the unpredictable. Having played the experimental UNSOUND Festival, and clubs like FOLD, BLITZ and Elysia in Basel, the Danish DJ convinced many knowledgeable crowds and gained praise for it. This is no different for her rare live performances - like the opening of the CTM Festival in 2018.
To care for a community and to further build it up is of significant importance for the artist. Her 2020 efforts to curate the compilation “Rewire and Acquire” and bring 18 producers together in service of the organization “Equality Now”, show that she walks the talk intrepidly.
Being a producer, too, the energy of dance - oriented Avantgarde is detectable in her releases and remixes. Following the debut “Maxima” (2019) on the cutting edge outlet Houndstooth, the EP “Ascetic” on Warps sub- label Arcola exhibits a futuristic genre blend between electro, IDM and spooky techno. Houndstooth is also the home for her latest release “Volshebno” that captures mesmerizing dancefloor moments. Fittingly, “Volshebno” stands for “magic” in Anastasia’s mother tongue, Russian.
2023 will be a continuation of her mission to represent musical curiosity and community, as Anastasia will host listening sessions in Copenhagen. Community Members will showcase music they love and tell the connected stories around them. Besides that, she will hold a residency at the highly reputable NTS Radio.
By embodying authentic, tasteful curation and selection, by connecting individuals in communities they feel belonging to, Anastasia Kristensen will no doubt further transcend her inspiring artistic footprint into the electronic realm.
