It’s a throwback to 2015 Section 10 as Jared and Pete are taking questions from listeners. But first, Jared talks about waking up and immediately going in on Babe Ruth. Let’s just say the old folks weren’t happy. Jared also talks about his new NESN show “Like A Pro” dropping today and his time on the pregame show with Brock Holt. Jared and Pete then dive into some questions about how they started their careers, old section 10 stories, most underrated Red Sox players, superpowers, and more. Garrett Whitlock’s season is officially over after the Red Sox announced he’s having hip surgery. Shoutout Tom Caron for being a NESN legend for as long as we can remember. 14 Apr 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 3: Pat's Picks01:46:29
The moment everyone has been waiting on for the last three months has finally arrived; Pat's Picks are back! Pat breaks down his top 5 gothic style churches in western Europe and you won't believe what number five turns out to be! Since this also a Red Sox podcast the guys get into some Sox talk as well. We talk about Ryan Brasier and the home run he gave up to Javy Báez, the lack of Sox offense through their first four games, the offensive explosion in games two and three of the Tigers series, facing Erod and Boston fans' reaction to Jared saying he wishes the Red Sox re-signed him, Kiké maybe pointing to his wrist in the home run cart ride in the dugout after taking Erod deep, and preparing for Opening Day at Fenway as well as a look ahead to the pitching matchups against the Twins. Pat's Wikipedia page, golf game and plans to visit Boston are also discussed. We also get into a few updates for the pod including our plans to do in-studio podcasts once a week! Enjoy! 06 Oct 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 53: Thank You Eck02:32:07
The 2022 Boston Red Sox season has come to an end. Thank you to all the 162 guys/girls who stuck it out with us this year. We appreciate all of you and we can’t wait to run it back in 2023. We have a full crew tonight to breakdown the end of the season. Jared is hearing rumors that people within the organization are optimistic about a Xander return. Pat is guaranteeing that he reaches free agency due to his representation. Speaking of Pat, he and Tyler have not interacted since the infamous watch party and we get some insight from Pat’s perspective of Tyler’s huge night. Tonight was Dennis Eckersley’s last night in the booth and boy was it emotional. From his unfiltered takes to his famous “Eckisms,” it’s safe to say that Eck became a legend in Boston as a Red Sox broadcaster and we can’t thank him enough for his years at NESN. Eck, you will be missed. We’re closing out the pod with a quick 20 on laundry. We’re down to one episode a week through the offseason so we’ll see you next week! Enjoy! 26 Sep 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 50: Tyler Got Drunk01:33:20
Tyler got obliterated on Friday night but shockingly that's not where we're starting this podcast. First of all, how the fuck does Pat Light not show up for this episode? Second of all, how the fuck does Pete not show up for the watch party? We're uncovering the reasoning behind both before we dive into Tyler's performance at the Cask. In case you didn't check Twitter this weekend, Tyler's big night lived up to the hype and Pat successfully got him the drunkest he's ever been. We had videos of him grabbing and screaming at Jared, grabbing and screaming at Pete, and grabbing and screaming at pretty much anyone he could get his hands on. It's Sunday night at midnight and he still hasn't completely gotten his voice back. Safe to say it was an all-time night for Tyler. Thanks for everyone who came out to the party and we'll hopefully have more of those to come next year along with live shows. In the world of the Red Sox there wasn't much to talk about this weekend. The Red Sox got swept and put us out of our misery with a short game Sunday night. Bello looked good again, Casas only hits home runs and only off the Yankees, and Judge didn't hit his 61st home run off a Red Sox pitcher so we pretty much got the series win. We also talk about Pivetta's continued struggles against AL East teams, Eovaldi's less-than-stellar rehab start in Worcester, and the over/under on how many OnlyFans girls Pete Abe super follows on Twitter. Enjoy! 13 Oct 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 54: The Return Of Pat's Picks02:04:15
We're a week into the offseason and we're talking about how each member of the podcast has dealt with having no Red Sox baseball to watch. Jared vows to not beat the Xander negotiations into the ground every week, but to only bring it up when we have a new piece of news. Well this week we have some news. Apparently John Henry sat down with Xander briefly after the season ended to make it known that Red Sox ownerships wants to keep him in Boston. We break down what this means and what the next negotiation steps could be moving forward. We also talk about how Scott Boras might approach the situation and how much involvement Chaim Bloom might actually have in the final decision. Now, the moment everyone's waiting for... the return of Pat's Picks. Pat is back with his famous segment and this week it's the top five museums in the world! If we determine that Pat plagiarized his list, he has to donate $10K to a charity of our choosing! We're also planning a podcast-wide quintuple date where we're visiting a haunted house during the World Series! See you next week, enjoy! 11 Jul 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 28: Let Us Pray (feat. Sandra)01:46:25
Jared, Pat, Pete, and Jake are live in-person at Jared's apartment recording the pod with a very special guest. Sandra makes her debut on the pod to break down the ins and outs of her relationship with Pat and friendship with Jared. But before we get into the Sandra situation we of course have to hold hands, bow our heads, and join in prayer. We hit four different prayer sessions today led by Jared, Pete, and two by Jake. Between prayers and talking with Sandra we also mix in a little baseball talk. The Red Sox won the final two games of the series against the Yankees and we're coming out of this weekend feeling like this was a win. This series wasn't about sweeping the Yankees. It was about showing that the Red Sox could hang with them in a playoff series, and we feel as though they did just that. We had some shaky starts out of Winckowski, Seabold, and Pivetta, but our offense was able to carry us to a split. After the Yankees series we look ahead to this week down in Tampa and talk about Chris Sale's season debut on Tuesday. Before we get out of here we recount the events of Saturday night when the members of the pod tried to organize a night out in Fenway. We also look at Pat Light's minor league numbers and compare them to Nolan Ryan. Quick wrap-up prayer and we're outta here, enjoy! 19 Aug 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 39: Red Sox Win The Series! (Blown Out In Game 3)02:20:13
It’s a full house tonight as we’re “celebrating” another series win for the Red Sox. We start off the show talking about the blowout loss to one of the worst teams in the league then quickly transition to how bad Austin Davis has been. After some more negativity, Positive Pat declares that he’s back and puts a positive spin on how the Red Sox have been playing over the past week. Josh Winckowski’s numbers are pretty awful and Tyler tries to make a comparison that Jared and Pat will not stand for. We then take a dive into Pat’s career numbers in Minnesota which surprisingly aren’t that bad. Jared gives his thoughts on Pedro and Ortiz’s comments defending Fernando Tatís Jr. This leads to discussion on immaturity among younger MLB players and we take a dive into some Red Sox top prospects that have gone off the rails over the years. Pat gives his perspective on being a young player coming up in the Red Sox system and tells stories about the training he got put through. We talk TikTok, Twitter, and a huge moment for Tyler’s career occurs when he swears off hashtags. We dive into some recent topics on the subreddit and get to the Stop & Shop look ahead. We also have our FIRST EVER live acceptance of a Klark’s Ketchup Series MVP award. Enjoy! 30 Jun 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 103: This Sucks01:48:15
This sucks. Red Sox get swept by the Marlins behind a dominating start from Brayan Bello where he took a no-no into the 8th. We’re talking why Casas sat twice, defense still letting us down, and Whitlock’s status as a starter after getting hit hard in Game 1. We also look big picture and reminisce on old beefs between Jared and players. Thanks for listening and we’ll see you on Sunday. 12 Aug 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 37: Red Sox Sweep The Orioles01:41:43
Pat just got back from dinner and definitely didn't drink at all. That being said, he admits to drinking about 30 seconds later. Pat comes in hot and accuses Pete of missing episodes when he said he wouldn't. He also takes it upon himself to teach Name Redacted listeners the ins and outs of both acquiring a professional sports franchise, and how to responsibly go into debt at favorable interest rates. This is exactly how we expected the bonus episode to start. Meanwhile, the Red Sox won their first series against an AL East opponent and we're breaking down the whole series. Winckowski was sulking in the dugout after he gave up three runs in the sixth even though the game was still in reach. This leads to discussion about who should've been the veteran presence in the clubhouse to tell him to get the fuck up and motivate his team to finish out the inning. Pat sneaks in a hot take about David Ortiz being under-appreciated in Boston. We quickly break for Taco Bell (not really) and Coley joins the pod for a couple minutes. We're finally getting to the moment everyone's been waiting for: Pat's Top 5 favorite amendments. This gets extremely controversial per usual and Pat makes some comments that honestly should've been removed from the episode. We give out Klark's Ketchup MVP for the first time in what seems like forever and look ahead to this weekend's series against the Yankees. Jared is throwing out the first pitch and let's hope he throws a strike because if he doesn't this podcast may be done. Enjoy! 18 Jul 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 30: What Just Happened?01:29:00
What the hell was that? The Red Sox absolutely crawl into the All-Star break losing six of their last seven games to division opponents and very realistically could've been swept back to back. After a miracle of a win on Friday night, the Sox got absolutely smacked around for the rest of the weekend getting outscored by the Yankees 27-3. On top of that, after years of waiting for a healthy Chris Sale to come back and lead this starting rotation, he takes a 106mph come-backer to his throwing hand and breaks his pinky. That is just sick. In today's episode we're talking about everything that's wrong with this team from the players to the front office. What is the direction of this team moving forward? We're starting players in positions that they have no idea how to play and we're refusing to sign homegrown, Boston-proven, superstar talent. We take a deep dive into how this team could look in the coming years. If that wasn't enough, Jared and Jake are recording across from what looks like the most fun pool party that's ever been thrown and it feels like a personal attack. Enjoy the All-Star break and we'll see you for the second half. 27 Apr 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 85: Kaleb Ort Is A Nice Guy02:05:45
The Red Sox finally lost a series but it wasn't Kaleb Ort's fault. Look, Kaleb Ort might not be the best pitcher in the world, but he's a really nice guy and he organized steak dinners for the whole team. He doesn't deserve to get bullied. No one does. On today's episode we're talking Kaleb Ort being a nice guy, Emmanuel Valdez being terrible at defense, Yoshida turning the corner in a BIG way, Jarren Duran's best game of his career and his comments after the game, Chris Sale's bad start and Cora's comments about the Orioles hitters, and Cory Kluber's quality outing. 15 Sep 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 47: Judge Loves Fenway02:19:49
Everyone’s on the show tonight which completely takes Jared by surprise. Jared and Tyler might move in with Pete in Waltham because of the commute to the Sports Hub. The Yankees broadcast is laughing at us as the Red Sox go viral AGAIN for playing like a Little League team. Jared has a feeling that Xander wants to stay with the Red Sox but the front office is going to have to make him feel the same way, which starts by signing Devers. We play the Aaron Judge audio where he talks about how great it is to play at Fenway and how awesome the fanbase is. We also compare the way he’s handling/talking about free agency to the way Xander is going about it. Pat points out that Fenway Sports Group is focused on expanding which means lucrative, long-term contracts could be a risk business-wise. He also saw Abraham Almonte in center field tonight and thought “who the fuck is that?” The watch party at Cask N’ Flagon is one week away and Pat talks about how drunk he’s going to get Tyler. Jared also explains the reasoning behind his new profile pic. Enjoy! 29 Jul 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 32: Pat Light On The Trade Block02:15:04
In a shocking turn of events, Pat Light is rearing to go for Episode 32 of the Name Redacted Pod. We start out hot with a tweet from Christ Cotillo claiming Pat Light has been mentioned in trade to acquire Coley from Barstool. We break down Pat's value to the pod and talk about what his value could be elsewhere (which we decide is quite minimal). Right before we started recording we had a big quote drop from Xander saying that he was informed that he will NOT be traded before the deadline. We discuss what this means in terms of his chances to get signed to an extension and what it means for the future of the franchise. Triston McKenzie also tweets at Jared saying they have beef after Jared publicly sided with Xander on his three-run homer off McKenzie in Thursday night's game. The Red Sox split the series against the Guardians and unfortunately the third game of the series was solely lost by Franchy Cordero. He made three errors in a single game and easily could have had four. We grade Chaim Bloom on the roster he's constructed this year and criticize him on where he's come up short. We look ahead to the Brewers series and have some positive outlooks by Pat to end the episode. Enjoy! 12 Oct 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 130: Welcome To The Offseason02:24:10
Kaleb Ort was DFA’d two seconds before we started recording and Jared gives him a send off. The Red Sox fired coaches Dave Bush and Carlos Febles and we’re reacting to the decision. Dustin Pedroia was at a Celtics preseason game the same weekend two coaches were fired and we’re trying to connect the dots. We’re talking more about who the Red Sox should go after between Ohtani, Soto and Yamamoto. The Red Sox also moved on from Yoshida’s translator which raises a few eyebrows. Jared also calls Steve to check him on the worst take of all time. Thanks for listening and we’ll see you next week! 10 Apr 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 80: Bob Stop (Feat. Coley Mick)02:29:52
The Red Sox swept the Tigers and as much as we’d like to celebrate the series, we’re in limbo waiting on the Adam Duvall news. Coley joins the show today to talk about the roster moves that could coincide with Duvall going on the IL and Whitlock joining the team. Will Kiké move to center? Will Braiser be DFA’d? Will Bobby Dalbec start at shortstop and welcome in the era of #BobStop? A lot of questions will be answered when the lineup card drops today, and boy could this get bad for Tyler. We discuss who would be our #1 choice of all available remaining options. We explore the Juan Soto trade further and talk about what a package could look like if the Red Sox took on another contract from the Padres. We also revisit the perception that John Henry and ownership are becoming more and more distant from the team. Jake also talks about the reaction to the Dennis Drinkwater video. Everyone's tired of the negativity so we're doing a strictly positive podcast! Xander Bogaerts is a San Diego Padre baby! The Red Sox introduced Yoshida, Kenley Jansen posted a sick hype video to Red Sox nation, and the Sox are reportedly ON FIRE in the trade market! After some positivity we get into the fact that Jeter Downs, a significant piece of the Mookie trade, was DFA'd today. We're exploring if the Mookie trade was really as much of a fleece as everyone thinks. Cotiyo also gets himself banned from the pod and blocked on everything by Jared. A Devers extension is apparently a "top priority" for Red Sox ownership and we're figuring out if that's good or bad news based on these type of comments in the recent past. Pete wants into Jerry's Scoop Shop and the committee is taking it under consideration. Next week will be our Name Redacted Christmas Special so we're throwing out our wish list of guests for the episode. Enjoy! 25 Apr 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 6: No Name Pod Gets Hit With The Plague01:48:06
Pete's watching hockey, Pat's on a plane, Jake's dying, and the Sox lost two of three in Tampa. We're in shambles. Jared and Tyler put the team on their backs and carry Episode Six by themselves. They break down what went wrong in Tampa from the lack of offense to the Story/Dalbec mishap that cost the Red Sox the game on Saturday. Garrett Whitlock was dicing in his first MLB start ever and it's hard to see him going back to the bullpen after that. Jared and Tyler discuss whether it's time to panic or if a slow start to the season was expected due to injuries and lack of preparation. They also look ahead to the four-game series against the Blue Jays this week and talk about what needs to go right to turn this thing around. Enjoy! 29 Apr 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 7: Where's The Offense?01:40:57
Jared and Tyler are running it back for another tag-team episode as Pete is at the Bruins game and Pat has a huge dinner he can't miss. On the bright side Jake is back from the dead. On the not so bright side the Red Sox offense is nowhere to be found. Jared and Tyler break down the disaster that was the Toronto series in which the Blue Jays took three out of four from the Red Sox. What a kick in the dick that was. They talk about the lack of offense, the bullpen blowing Game 2 and how Tanner Houck being there would've allowed the Red Sox to play that game differently, the Red Sox batting statistics without Xander and J.D. in the lineup, the level of panic we should have about this team right now, and where the Red Sox record could be at if a couple things went differently over the past week. We also look ahead to the Baltimore series and declare it a must sweep across the board. At the end of the episode, Jared dives into what it was like to make an appearance on MLB Network today and fulfill a lifelong goal of his. This also leads to discussion about his career journey in general and the different experiences, challenges, and choices he made that got him to where he is today. We close out by mentioning that this Sunday will be the first in-studio podcast with Jared, Pete, Tyler, and Jake all in-studio and Pat being remote so keep an eye out for that one Sunday night/Monday morning! 28 Aug 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 119: Mookie's Return02:04:46
Mookie made his return to Boston and it went pretty much how everyone expected. He got a standing ovation all three games, had 7 hits with a homer, and looked exactly like the player Boston fell in love with a short time ago. We take a look back at the timeline of the Mookie trade and talk about what went wrong in the negotiations. The Red Sox dropped two out of three to one of the best teams in baseball and it’s looking like the Sox will not be a playoff team. We’re talking about Verdugo’s leadoff homer streak during Mookie’s return weekend, Adam Duvall going OFF as of late, Justin Turner continuing to get it done, Trevor Story’s first home run, starting pitching not going deep, and more. The Ohtani/Bello matchup was cut short by the rain, but we’re talking about if we’re worried about what we saw from Brayan today. 18 Nov 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 59: Pete's Announcement01:44:00
We're back with a bittersweet episode of Name Redacted Pod as Pete has a major announcement to share with the listeners. After Pete shares his news, we dive into everything that's been stirring in the rumor mill since the last episode we dropped. We're continuing our Xander contract talk because he's our franchise shortstop in the second week of free agency and this is a Red Sox podcast. We're talking about if we're more or less confident in the Red Sox chances to sign him as the offseason progresses. We all agree that after signing Bogaerts and Devers, the Red Sox #1 need this offseason is starting pitching. We're looking at different free agent options that could strengthen the rotation, as well as other free agents the Red Sox have been linked to. Jared and Tyler get into it about Garrett Whitlock in the rotation vs the bullpen and it might be the first time Jared has been genuinely mad at Tyler. Enjoy! 06 May 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 9: Criticism and Accountability01:32:47
We've been catching some heat on the pod for not criticizing the team and holding them accountable, so that's exactly what we do in this episode. Jared debuts a brand new segment where everyone has to say something bad about the Red Sox. It's tough that we've gotten to this point but at the end of the day when you're playing bad you're playing bad. We're not giving up on the season yet and this is still a team come September that could be in the mix, but you have to acknowledge a bad start when you see one. We talk about Story's lackluster start to the year, Verdugo falling off a cliff, poor offensive numbers for pretty much everyone besides Xander and JD, the bullpen being disastrous as of late, and whole bunch more fun stuff. Pete is now 0-4 on the year which also sucks. Jared previews the upcoming matchups against the White Sox and talks about going to Fenway with Tyler and Jake this weekend. There's also free {name redacted} podcast merch on the line for anyone who asks Jake for his first picture. Let's try and uh, win some games! Enjoy! Later on we're talking the importance of getting out to a hot start in April, Tyler taking steroids and reviewing them, Garrett Whitlock coming out of the bullpen, Yoshida and Ohtani having a bromance on the Japanese WBC team, Raffy's farm, Oregon Trail, and more! 09 May 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 10: Swept01:24:31
The Red Sox got swept this weekend to extend their losing streak to five games and take sole possession of last place in the AL East. Sick. Jared and Tyler talk about the Red Sox' nine blown saves on the season and how many of them could've been wins if they had a legit closer. We also talk about how Devers, Xander, and JD are the only guys doing anything on offense and none of their contracts have been extended. Jake got his first opportunity to go on the field at Fenway and meet the players and talks about his experience. Pat's taking the Kentucky Derby loss hard so we'll have to get his full breakdown next episode. Pete is watching the Bruins which you can't really blame him for since they actually win games. We're testing out the waters and predicting the Braves to sweep the Red Sox in the short series this week. Something has to work, because none of this makes sense. 12 May 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 11: We Need A Closer01:26:40
After a promising start to the short series in Atlanta, the Red Sox found a way to blow Game 2 and come out of the series with a split. The Red Sox are technically still undefeated with beardless Cora (since he got ejected in the sixth inning of Game 2), but a horrendous missed call and lack of reliable relievers spoiled what could've been a turning point for this team. Instead, they drop the second game and lose another contest that seemingly could've been won if they had a legit closer. Jared talks about what the Red Sox' record could look like if they had a legitimate closer since day one. Pat rejoins the show after a short hiatus for the Kentucky Derby (which was held in Kentucky this year), and talks about how if a few ball/strike calls went his way he could still be in the league today. He also explains that the Red Sox' attitude about this series will play a huge factor going into the series against the Rangers this weekend. We also talk about JBJ potentially being a better hitter than Kiké right now, the Bogaerts to the Cardinals rumors, who should be getting more looks for the ninth inning role, and pitching matchups against the Rangers this weekend. Pat also dives into his Kentucky Derby experience and ranks it amongst other live sporting events he's been to. 30 Sep 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 51: Jared In The Booth03:03:39
Jared made his NESN booth debut on Tuesday night which felt like it was a long time coming. He takes us through his whole experience including getting a FaceTime from David Ortiz while he was on the field and then catching up with him in his suite before the appearance. Between throwing out the first pitch and being in the broadcast booth he's had some major bucket list moments checked off this year. We talk about how comfortable Will Middlebrooks seems in the booth and speculate on whether this could be a long-term gig for him. Trevor Story was quoted saying he promises to be better next year and we're taking a look back at how his start in Boston has shaped how fans look at him. J.D. Martinez and Triston Casas are battling for ketchup and who won't believe who it ends up going to (with the help of Coley Mick and Matt Barnes). Tyler points out that Triston Casas sounded very comfortable in a recent interview and talks about how he see's Casas being a guy here for a long time. Jared also remembers having a dream about Kaleb Ort not traveling to Toronto. Enjoy! 13 Mar 2023Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 74: Nobody Panic (Feat. Jon & Jason Anik)02:25:23
Things took a turn this week after Chris Cotillo attempted to cause widespread panic throughout the fanbase. We're giving him a call to ask him why he wrote an article saying the season is over due injuries. But first, Jon & Jason Anik join us to talk some Sox! The Anik brothers grew up in Boston as die-hard Sox fans and boy do they know ball. Jared, Jon, Jason, and Tyler talk everything from the heartbreak of 2003, to the joy of 2004, Jon's obsession with Nomar, Jason meeting Trot Nixon, Trevor Story and Kiké Hernandez being big UFC guys, handing out "K" cards for WEEI, and more! Huge thanks to those guys for a great convo about all things Sox, and make sure to check out the "Anik & Florian Podcast" hosted by Jon Anik and MMA legend Kenny Florian. The guest-filled episode continues when Young Pageviews calls Jared and makes an impromptu appearance on the pod to talk some Cardinals. Tyler gives us news and notes from the week which includes his thoughts on Chris Sale's outing. We're also getting Jared's reaction to the Dan Shaughnessy article calling him a mascot. Enjoy! The Red Sox finally won a series and no one is here to talk about it! Jared and Jake are doing the pod solo today to break down the Red Sox/Rangers series from this weekend. We're finally able to give out a Klark's Ketchup series MVP so definitely tune in for that because they've been hard to come by this season. 25 Jul 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 31: Congrats Big Papi! (Red Sox Throttled By The Blue Jays)02:25:52
The kids are fucking starving but Tyler’s still ripping the 9’s. The Sox lose ANOTHER AL East series, this time in embarrassing fashion. This is one of those series that you can’t even break down game by game since it was such a dumpster fire, so we go big picture. What’s the plan for this team? Are they buyers or sellers at the deadline? If we let Xander walk how is Cora going to feel? If we aren’t signing Devers then what the hell was the point of the Mookie trade? We talk about how all of our best players are unsigned and try to figure out what the hell we are waiting for. Pete gives a quick shoutout to Sydney Sweeney before he dips. Also, David Ortiz was officially inducted into the Hall of Fame this weekend. We talk about our favorite moments from his career and his continued presence in the Red Sox community post retirement. If you’re looking for someone to talk to after this series just remember you always have God. Enjoy! The Red Sox celebrations keep getting stolen, most notably Dancing On My Own but also the Astros using the snap celebration when they get on base. 19 May 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 13: Nicky Smooches' Complete Game02:31:48
Pat and Tyler rejoin the pod and the Boston Red Sox have won two series in a row. You won't find anyone on this podcast saying we're back; not a chance. But it feels pretty good winning two series in a row, especially when you close it out with a goddamn Nicky Smooches complete game. It was a Klark's Ketchup worthy performance by Nick Pivetta in the rubber-match against the Astros and feels like the type of moment that could turn a season around. Just to be clear thought, not back. Pat reads some fan mail from people live on air (yes Pat gets fan mail) and also tells us about players who used to have a problem with Jared back when Pat was on the team. We also talk about Pat's plans to use the mayor of Boston to monopolize the city and to become the first owner/player in MLB history. As always, we end with the Stop & Shop lookahead and predict the series against the Mariners which garnered some pretty positive outlooks for this weekend. Enjoy! 01 Aug 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 33: Pat Balls Out In Vegas (Red Sox Lose 2/3)02:00:40
Today we're celebrating the fact that the Red Sox didn't get swept. Woo Whoo! Pat shockingly joins for the second straight episode and breaks down his $93k night in Vegas. We go line by line of his receipt and talk about our favorite lines, including the $312 he spent on fucking WATER. In classic Pat fashion he mentions a couple competing sponsors that need to get bleeped out and then we move onto Red Sox talk. Meanwhile, Tyler is having an all-time battle with his computer/internet situation. Between the delays, he's able to break down Nate Eovaldi's value on the trade market and rank Chaim Blooms overall tenure with the Red Sox. Before we head out, Jared talks about his relationship with Julio and how his friendship with him marked a very pivotal turning point in his career. We also go through guys on the trade block and decide "yes or no" on whether they'll still be with us come Tuesday night. See you after the trade deadline. The Red Sox just swept the Mariners in a four-game series at Fenway where Trevor Story hit five goddamn home runs and drove in 13 runs and you better believe we're absolutely dousing him in Klark's Ketchup. Franchy Cordero also hit a walk-off grand slam to complete the sweep against Seattle. That was pretty cool. Chaim is going nuts in the owners' box and looks like a guy who is itching to say it, but knows he can't. The vibes are immaculate right now and after what seemed like a disastrous start, the Red Sox find themselves three games back of a playoff spot after this weekend. In episode 14 we dive into our favorite moments from the series, talk about JD's underrated performance this weekend, get an update on Pat and his new girlfriend Sandra, get Pat's top five strangest world records, and a couple inside scoops from Jared. 02 Jun 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 95: The Vibes Are Mediocre01:45:40
The Red Sox lost two of three to the Reds and Chris Sale went down. We're still waiting for results from his MRI, but it's tough to not feel a gut punch when Chris Sale gets hurt. The Red Sox lost two very winnable games to start this series before the bats came alive in Game 3 to salvage a win. We're talking about the Red Sox offense in April compared to May, Alex Cora calling out the defense, Duvall and Story timelines, and our general outlook on the season after two months. Tyler is also officially banned from predicting sweeps. Enjoy! 07 Dec 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 138: Alex Verdugo Traded (feat. Kevin Youkilis)02:31:27
Kevin Youkilis joins the show in our latest rendition of the Klark’s Ketchup Series MVP Panel media tour. We get into the Alex Verdugo trade right away, talking about Verdugo’s tenure in Boston, the return the Red Sox received in the trade, and what the outfield might look like on Opening Day 2024. After we break down trade, we talk to Youk about his experience in the broadcast booth. He gives us insight into his game day preparation, the balance of mixing new-age analytics with his experience as a former player, how he approaches analyzing mishaps on the field without making it personal, if he’s itching for a winning season in the booth, and a whole lot more! Youk also details his playing days in Japan including facing a 19-year-old Shohei Ohtani and tells a great story about himself and Dustin Pedroia teeing off on Daisuke Matsuzaka in spring training. Youk also gives Tyler advice on how to go bald with pride. Huge thanks to Youk for joining the show and we can’t wait to keep picking series MVPs with him next year! 05 Sep 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 44: It's Mathematically Possible03:17:09
Happy flight, happy podcast. The Red Sox swept the pathetic Texas Rangers and their chances to make the playoffs have skyrocketed from 0.4% to 2% which is a 500% increase. Let’s just say there’s people within the organization that think there’s still a chance. Triston Casas made his long-awaited major league debut on Sunday, but not before he did some sunbathing in the outfield. We talk about how cool it was to see what should be the Red Sox future core infield all start together for the first time. Xander is red-hot and had multiple hits in every game this series which earns him a unanimous Klark’s Ketchup Series MVP. Coley joins the pod to take an in-depth look at the careers of Juan Gonzales and Adam Stern. Enjoy! 27 May 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 15: June 28th01:18:04
The Red Sox took two out of three against the White Sox and some ASSHOLE said it. We won't be saying his name on this podcast because we can't in good faith support someone who said it, but besides that he's honestly a pretty good guy. If you're itching to say it like we are, we give you some pretty good remedies that should help suppress your urge to say it until June 28th. Rafael Devers has the most hits in the league, Julio has the highest average in baseball by a wide margin, the Sox are 11-4 since Alex Cora shaved his beard, Vazquez is flirting with .300, and Cora is saying JD is performing at the highest level he's ever seen. It's getting reallllllllllllly hard not to say it. Jared also teases his next major announcement/content series before we dive into the Stop & Shop look ahead for the five-gamer against the Orioles. Enjoy, but don't fucking say it. 07 Aug 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 113: Rock Bottom02:02:17
The Red Sox just got swept in the most important series of the year and this feels like rock bottom. Between an unimpressive trade deadline, squandering a chance to gain major ground in the wild card race, and Alex Verdugo being benched in the most important game of the year, this feels like a new low for the 2023 Red Sox. We’re breaking down what went wrong in the series, the Alex Verdugo clubhouse drama, Chaim’s job security with the recent slump, and Arroyo clearing waivers after being DFA'd. We also go through the updates on Story, Sale, Whitlock, and Houck. Thanks for listening and we’ll see you after the Royals series. 02 Dec 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 61: Interest Kings Are BACK (Feat. Coley Mick)03:27:52
It’s been CHAOS in the streets this week with Xander Bogaerts rumors leaking left and right, so we got our pal Coley Mick on the pod to make heads or tails of it all. The front office has reportedly been texting NONSTOP, even during Thanksgiving dinner. Good to hear they didn’t shut their phones off during the heigh of free agency. Peter Gammons tweeted that Xander had “severed ties” with the Red Sox earlier this week which threw Twitter into an absolute frenzy. Thankfully many people know this not to be the case and we were able to get some level-headed confirmation that the Red Sox are still atop of the leaderboard among teams’ chances to sign Bogaerts. We’re taking a look at other free agent options for the Red Sox that could make sense in addition to Xander. Jared poses a question to Tyler asking him if he would still ride with Chaim Bloom if Xander signs elsewhere for a reasonable amount of money. Jared cooks up a Christian Yelich to Boston trade scenario and texts Yeli to get his thoughts. We call Chris Cotillo and he provides no value per usual. Coley and Jared also fight with Tyler about a player that they see as a superstar, but he does not. Thankfully, we kept this one under four hours for Pat Light. Enjoy! 08 Sep 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 45: Red Sox Extend Kiké02:03:15
The Red Sox signed Kiké Hernandez to a one-year deal and we finally are seeing some direction from the Red Sox front office. The Red Sox playoff chances are now somewhere in the 0.2%-0.4% range which pretty much puts a cap on the season. Although they were swept by the Rays, we talk about how we didn’t really feel anything from these losses and the attention has shifted to our 2023 roster. Kiké dropped an interesting quote from Chaim Bloom claiming that he promised next year’s team will be “way better.” We discuss if we’re confident in that statement and what kind of offseason the Red Sox would need to have in order to make that true. We collectively agree that the guy holding Triston Casas’ first home run ball hostage is the worst dude on the planet. This leads to a discussion about when it is okay to keep milestone baseballs and when it isn’t. Also, Bob went 3-4 in Worcester tonight and Jared’s going fishing with Garrett Whitlock on Monday. 31 Aug 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 120: Tyler Ruined The Season (feat. Coley Mick)02:22:25
The Red Sox got swept by the Astros and it feels like the unofficial end of the season. It’s all pretty much Tyler’s fault. Coley joins the show and we take a look at the bigger picture of the 2024 Red Sox/what the offseason should look like. We’re talking about the need to improve the pitching staff, whether we should re-sign Paxton, Jarren Duran’s position in the outfield, whether the Red Sox should pick up waived Angels players, needing urgency from Chaim, why Mookie isn’t still on this team, Trevor Story at short, and more. 31 May 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 16: This Is Why You Don't Say It01:33:45
The Red Sox lost a five-game series against the Orioles and everyone knows whose fault it is. Steve, why did you have to say it man? The Red Sox were up 8-2 in the seventh inning on Friday night and Steve said it. The Red Sox proceeded to give up 10 runs over the next three innings and blow an easy W against the last-place Orioles. For anyone that is still thinking about saying it, don't. June 28th is the date that the Red Sox need to be above .500 by and the date you can say it. If you need to say it before then, please refer to our list of alternative phrases or take an ice bath. Jared and Tyler talk about the inconsistency in the bullpen, the starting pitching, Rafael Devers' average exit velocity and how the rest of the team ranks, and look ahead to the quick tow-game series against the Cincinnati Reds. Yamamoto threw a no-hitter this weekend and we’re talking about the Red Sox chances to sign him. Jared wants the Red Sox to open the checkbook for him, but Tyler doesn’t think it’s do or die. 11 May 2023Name Redacted Podcast Episode 89: Pouty Pivetta02:03:12
The Red Sox split the series with the Atlanta Braves who Alex Cora called the best team in the NL. We're breaking down what might've been Bello's best start to date. But first, Nick Pivetta was clearly frustrated with Mexican Times reporter Chris Cotillo's question about potentially being moved to the bullpen. We're playing the audio from the interaction and trying to understand why Pivetta would be so bothered by what seems like a pretty logical move. 02 Jun 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 17: Beef's Back On01:18:09
The whole squad is back for Episode 17. Pete hungoout with Steve the night he said it, Pat broke up with Sandra, Jared's buzzed after the game, and Tyler needs to wake up in two hours. The Red Sox also split a two-game series with the Reds and Pat and Pete still need to give their takes on the Steve situation. Pat had seemingly squashed his beef with Steve before tonight's episode, but it seems like there could still be some bad blood after the events that transpired over the weekend. Jared and Tyler break down the Tuesday night loss and question whether Franchy should've been in defensively in the top of the ninth. We also recap the Wednesday night win against the Reds and the bats coming back to life. Enjoy! 19 Apr 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 4: The Afghanistan Avocados02:09:46
The guys are back with episode 4 and unfortunately all the Red Sox players have Covid. We break down the series split with the Twins and look ahead to the Blue Jays series where it looks like we'll be without some key players. Pete and Jared are baffled by the reaction of some fans at Fenway to Rich Hill struggling during his outing on Marathon Monday. Jared was back in the clubhouse over the weekend and shared a long hug with Xander during which he told him the Red Sox need to re-sign him. Pat Light has a HUGE offer from the Savannah Bananas and isn't taking it seriously so the guys try to convince him that this could be a major turning point in his baseball career. We also discuss Mazz being on the broadcast and the perspective he brings to the booth. Pat also shares some stories about his days in the minors including making sandwiches for Christian Vázquez. 09 Jun 2024Since 1901: A Boston Baseball Podcast Episode 21 | We're So Disappointed In The Red Sox Play Against The Horrid White Sox00:11:51
Steve Buchanan (@sbuchanan24) & Emerson Lotzia (@emersonlotzia) tag team “Since 1901: A Boston Baseball Podcast” 21st episode. We are downright crushed by the Boston Red Sox inability to dominate the Chicago White Sox, who are quite literally, one of the worst statistical teams in the history of baseball right now. Plus, the Savannah Bananas came to town and reminded us what a packed house at Fenway Park looks and feels like. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
03 Mar 2023Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 73: Tyler Milliken Masterclass02:45:26
Tyler has a show for the ages as he puts on an inspiring performance in audio/video production excellence. Any aspiring producer should listen to this episode to take your production skills to the next level. Red Sox spring training is here! Today we're getting a vibe check from Jared who's been down in Fort Myers for the last week watching the Red Sox kick off spring training games. We're talking pitch clock, wine and paint night with Kiké, young guys impressing early, and breaking down what we've seen so far in the first week of exhibition games. Jared had a run in with his old buddy Pete Abe at JetBlue park and you'll never believe where it happened. We're also interpreting quotes from Cora talking about Paxton catching his attention, and Yoshida being a cleanup hitter instead of leading off. We've had positive vibes from the jump, but we're starting to notice other members of Boston sports media beginning to come around on this team and not counting them out. We love to see it. 06 Jun 2022Jared Carrabis Podcast Episode 18: We Need More Ketchup01:13:06
The Red Sox are BACK to being a .500 ball club after sweeping the A's but we're sure as hell not saying it. Yankees fans are all up in Jared's mentions for acknowledging the fact that the Red Sox are in a wild card spot right now even though the Yankees have won the division once in the last 10 years. We also have such a heated Klark's Ketchup debate that we need to call on the assistance of a former member of the podcast to help settle it. Hint: his name rhymes with Foley Nick. Jared and Tyler then look ahead to the Angels series and give predictions on where the Red Sox may stand at the end of the week. Enjoy!
