Matthew liked it more than Dean, but Dean eventually comes around and focuses on the positive aspects of the flick like: the indiscriminate and unbridled Martian violence against A-list celebrities, and the bravery of Tim Burton to go bananas in a film that had a massive budget (something not seen much anymore).

Matthew helps Dean emotionally work through one of the most troubling aspects of this film's content - hint: it's not the multiple murders, it is the audacity of a terrorist to paint his face black.

There are issues here: The Nexus, Soran's lack of screen time and motivation, Data's abundant screen time and lack of payoff in the final conflict, and the tacked on death of Kirk, to name a few. Matthew and Dean still admit to liking the movie and do their best to mine this often-forgotten Trek for some gems.

A small scale time travel movie that has personal stakes as opposed to the usual world destroying stuff. It's easy to follow and a great example of the Predestination Paradox.
