26 Sep 2019SAP Experts Podcast Episode 6: All about Digital Transformation00:43:51
In highly disruptive times, Digitalization is the area where the main decisive actions concerning your business model, processes and infrastructure are taken. It is the main business battlefield of the 21st century in which your actions and decisions result in either being the disruptor of your industry or being out-disrupted into marginalization. But what does this mean for SAP, its partners and its customers? For this episode I have met with one of SAP’s key players in the area of product strategy to discuss the state and future of digitalization. I am humbled to welcome Mr. Sven Denecken who is in his role as Senior Vice president of Product Success and Co-Innovation the one you want to hear talking about his personal insights in topics like the actual state of Digitalization of the market, the emerging technologies that will matter most to you, what is the role of Cloud technologies and Experience data in all of that and which innovation strategy you should follow to be successful in the 21st century. 06 Oct 2019SAP Experts Podcast Episode 7: The right approach to S/4HANA00:54:13
For this episode, I deliberately chose the same title as my linkedin-blog. Because if you are working in sales, presales, services or consulting no matter if here at SAP, one of our great partners or you are a customer, this episode is a must for you in which meet Uwe Grigoleit. As Senior Vice President he has the global responsibility for the Go-to-Market of S/4HANA, and Uwe has quite some messages for all of us. We talk about S/4HANA, strategy, readiness, value, the role of cloud, what are the best practices concerning that – simply: S/4HANA and how it’s approached the right way! 13 Oct 2019SAP Experts Podcast Episode 8: Spinoff00:32:07
Welcome to the SAP Experts Podcast -Spinoff. With this episode I want to introduce and add an new label and a little bit different piece and format to the SAP Experts Podcast which will co- exist with the future episodes of the classic format that you already and hopefully love by now. The reason: We at SAP have many different Podcasts which differ a lot in format, style, content and length. Many of them are purely internal podcasts, that are not available to the public. But from time to time, those internal podcasts generate episodes where it would be a shame to keep them internal because they would be certainly also interesting for public audiences. One of those internal Podcasts that generate such episodes is “The Cast” by Mike Fecek. Mike is Global Director for Presales Solutions at SAP and his Supply Chain Solution Hub consists of product and industry experts that develop cutting edge solutions for any SAP customer that earns his or her money by actually producing or moving things. So with this I want to give Mike and his colleagues a platform to publish interesting content from their pool, while the Experts Podcast episodes you are used to will of course continue to be released as usual. Since the cast consists of episodes which are a bit shorter in duration than what you are used from me, we packed two Cast episodes back to back into this format, starting with “Project Intelligence Network” before Mike will talk about “Predicting Asset Health and avoiding failure”. Great stuff you don’t want to miss. So I will hand the stage of this episode over to Mike Fecek and “The Cast”. Here at the SAP Experts Podcast “Spinoff”. Please like, share and subscribe! 13 Oct 2019SAP Experts Podcast Episode 9: Corporate Finance Digitalized!00:38:24
Today we are talking Finance! Being a logistics guy, I want to know anything about Corporate Finance, its changing role, challenges, and strategic aspects. Especially financial transformation and which role digital technologies play in all of that. And to do exactely that I have one of the best people as guest for these questions: Christian Straub, Head of Customer Solution Advisory Finance in Middle & Eastern Europe. He is a trusted advisor and frequent guest in the CFO offices throughout Europe in which he is structuring complex transformation initiatives. I am running with him the Expert Sessions each year at the Swiss SAP Now in Basel, and I am already looking forward to making the event with him again in 2020. So please like, share and subscribe! 20 Oct 2019SAP Experts Podcast Episode 10: Build your case for S/4HANA00:40:56
If you remember Episode 8 of our podcast series featuring the right approach to S/4HANA, Uwe Grigoleit told about the Viessmann case. Viessmann, an international manufacturer heating, industrial and refrigeration systems, had a quite clear case to move to S/4HANA. Inventory savings in two-digit millions as a result of an ERP transformation to S/4HANA made the path for a fast decision to do the Move. But of course, not in all cases, it is easy as that. Imagine a typical approach to S/4HANA. While pitches mostly cover the general benefits, which is ok for a first approach, you have to second that with an individual option. The customer wants to know what’s in for him individually and that’s where an answer within modern process architectures of the 21st century is not so easily given when manually approached. It’s all about questions on which you could spent months. That’s why SAP offers you intelligent tools that do that work for you. And today I am very pleased to have the man here in Walldorf whose team is behind those great tools like the Business Scenario Recommendations Report and the Pathfinder, Mr. Wassilios Lolas who is as Vice President and Global Head of Customer Value Experience responsible for smoothening your path to become an intelligent enterprise. Let’s welcome him here at the SAP Experts Podcast So please like, share and subscribe! 03 Nov 2019SAP Experts Podcast Episode 11: The X (Data) Files00:40:31
If you have not yet gotten the message that SAP has now something with an X, or Experience Data, you probably live behind the moon. So it is quite obvious that the experience topic has a big strategic relevance for SAP, and that’s not because we want it to be like that, but because winning in the 21st century means adapting to an experience economy where customer centric processes and the emotional connection of your customer to your products should not only be of utter importance for you, it should guide your strategic decisions. But this topic is not only about customers attitude towards you and your products, but also how your employees think about you. So if your best horse quits its job you should not be caught surprised anymore. But we do not want to do an X+O pitch here, we want to tackle the topic a level deeper so I met with Christine Fischer, whose job as Vice President and Head of Business Development is to run that topic and the integration of X+0 in Europe, so she is the right person to give us a 360 degree overview. We will talk not only about the strategic implications of X Data, but also where we are as SAP in that respect and what the SAP community can expect in the coming months. 10 Nov 2019SAP Experts Podcast Episode 12: Tangible Innovation00:48:25
Basically, turning people’s heads by talking about innovation is easy. Invent some fancy title for yourself which should ideally contain the words “Innovation”, “Digitalisation” or in the best case “Alchemist” and, very important, dress up like a hipster. That adds credibility. Then you look up youtube for the latest TED Talks and you will be able to reel off the fancy inventions and cloud castle and hope the whole linkedin community will cheer for you. Well, unfortunately at times it happens to be like that and that’s not good because it takes the substance out of the topic since you forget the most important aspect how true innovation at the customer can be ignited. It should be individual, approachable and tangible. If your inno cases do not touch the individual situation and strategy of the customer, you failed. And you are doing more harm than help. So lets bring the substance back and put an emphasis on the aspect of tangibility. That’s why I invited somebody who does not only talk about innovation, but also takes care that it is sparked, realized and implemented at awesome customers like Porsche Motorsport. He makes his hands dirty he is Mr. Timo Deiner, the “Innovation Guy”. Here, at the SAP Experts Podcast So please like, share and subscribe! 08 Dec 2019SAP Experts Podcast 15: The World of Analytics00:51:40
Lately there was some interesting story in tech news. For the third year in a row, the board of a Californian giant in the world of enterprise applications rejected a shareholder proposal for the company to release data about how much women are paid at the company relative to men. While many tech companies incl. SAP have provided disclosures around gender pay equity issues and committed to closing pay gaps, this one tech company has continued to refuse to do so because, as they stated, it would be “costly and time consuming!”. That is quite astonishing because, if this company misses the data transparence to dig this information quickly and cost-effective, they need the capabilities of SAP’s analytics portfolio and today’s guest definitely could help. Mr. Mohamed Abdel Hadi, Vice President for Product Management Analytics at SAP will give us his personal spin and his insights into the world of analytics. Before we go into Christmas break, we have not one guest but two guests for you. First, we welcome back for her second visit Ms. Saskia Fontanive of innovabee, who became prominent because of her successful high-speed S/4HANA Cloud implementations. And second, it’s great to have Mr. Jan Gilg who was responsible for the other extreme: The internal S/4HANA implementation at SAP. Additionally, Jan is now as Senior Vice President directly responsible for any S/4HANA related development, and reports directly to the board, so we will get very interesting insights about our Cloud and future S/4HANA strategy. Furthermore, this episode is where we end for 2019, because I will go now into the Christmas break. 26 Jan 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 20: Give Data Purpose!00:31:54
Ten years ago, the highest valued companies had names like ExxonMobil, PetroChina, Petrobras and Royal Dutch Shell, 2020, things look bit different with names taking a prominent spot on the list that nobody thought about in 2010: Alphabet/Google, Facebook, Tencent, Amazon and Alibaba. Companies that don’t see their economic purpose in digging for oil. They are digging for data, which is the oil of the 21st century. Today he is the Solution Hub lead for Digital Supply Chain at SAP and a prominent face in meeting rooms and big stages of Supply Chain conferences alike. 23 Feb 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 22: Are You Experienced?01:13:09
Today’s guest is promising fun for several reasons: “Radio Personality become Customer Experience Expert" Steven Spears, who is Global Program Manager for SAP CX and also uses his skill from his former being as a radio star to create and host the "Future of Customer Engagement & Experience Podcast”. So what we did was to do something new. You can surely find a lot of interesting podcast resources covering the topic of experience management in a very competent way. But Steve and I dialed up once late evening, opened a beer and talked about the sometimes very abstract topic of Experience Management being two guys with flesh and blood, a language that you surely will understand and will help you to demystify the world of Experience Management. 01 Mar 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 23: The Future of Digital Supply Chain Management00:37:40
Around Christmas I sat together with Hans Thalbauer the SAP Senior Vice President responsible for Digital Supply Chain Management and Internet of Things and we had a conversation about what can we can expect logistically out of 2020 and what requirements possible events in 2020 could have on setup, performance and flexibility. We talked about how political events, natural disasters and pandemies are affecting the global supply chains and the business of enterprises. And what is happening now: Dow Jones crashed last Thursday down 1.200 points, as much as never before as the Corona Virus Outbreak interrupts business, global sourcing, selling and travel. It shows us, how vulnerable our global supply chains have become and how flexible, transparent and agile companies have to be in the 21st centuries to act and react on these kinds of distruptive events. Listen to Hans Thalbauer outlining what capabilities modern Supply Chains need and how performance levels can be achieved that enable you to cope with todays turmoils. Leadership might be a hot discussed topic, leadership gurus like Simon Sinek might be omnipresent and whenever you see some shared wisdoms from them you can be sure it got at least one hundred likes on social media, but still in many cases on the one hand not the best leaders but the best experts are promoted into leadership positions and do more harm than good, and on this other side those who have gotten into these position often think about “what have I done to myself” obviously being completely unprepared for “leadership”. So lots of topics to discuss, since I have the pleasure to host Swen Heidenreich, who is Managing Director of Heidenreich Consulting, specializing in executive coaching. Because this is whats going to happen here, on this episode of the SAP Experts Podcast. 22 Jun 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 38: Brownfield, Greenfield & Co.- All about Transition Methods to S/4HANA01:31:10
There are topics that can not and should not be pressed into 30 to 45 minutes episodes durations. Ok maybe some are doing that, but these topics then are not covered further than superficial, and we are a non-nonsense show here. That’s why we present you here an episode, that is with 90 minutes a bit on the long side but worth every single minute. We approach a topic that contains the probably most important decision you can take when approaching S/4HANA. It is of utter importance because it determines basically what you get, what you work with for the next decade and if you implement a system that fully brings the horsepower of S/4HANA to the street. This episode is all about Transition methods, yes, it is about greenfield, brownfield, selective transitions and we will basically look under every rock and present you all Best Practices concerning these methods, the Dos and Donts and the secrets nobody tells you so you are prepared in the best possible way to make your decision how to move to S/4HANA in a way that is best for you. To discuss that I have the best guest for this topic, because nobody has advised more customers on their way to S/4HANA than him, and when you look up the word EXPERT on Wikipedia, you will get an article with his photo in it. 06 Jul 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 39: A new era for the Intelligent Enterprise00:59:17
Listen to SAP's new expanded vision for the Intelligent Enterprise and why it's more relevant than ever in a fast-changing world. If there is a concept that makes you gain crisis resilience and win in the recovery it is the “Intelligent Enterprise”, a strategy embracing modern technologies that enable you to use your data to get real-time insights about your operations, market environment and customers. COVID-19 has given this topic a big boost in importance as more and more enterprises now have realized what digitalization is all about so I am excited to feature for this episode Mr. Timo Elliott, Vice President and Global Innovation Evangelist for SAP. 21 Jul 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 40: Do you trust your data?01:03:22
When you attend customer meetings about digitalization you spend a lot of time talking about architecture, transition scenarios, IoT, etc. which is fine, as long as you do not neglect talking about the blood that flows through the veins of each enterprise and without it you would neither be able to book one order, nor have any clue what actually is going on in your company. which is: data. I talk to Wolfgang Epting, Chief Expert in SAPs Center of Excellence for Platform & Technologies about how to boost the outcome of your digitalization efforts by building up a dedicated data strategy, when it is the right moment to start with it, how to measure data quality and what are the do’s and don’ts for gaining a data literacy culture that will boost your business. 07 Sep 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 42: How to sell and implement the Intelligent Enterprise01:04:57
In Episode 39 we featured a very interesting conversation about the specifics of the Intelligent Enterprise concept, which is a condition that probably every company aspires to be. But that’s of course easily said when you at the same time do not also explain how to get there. Also this is a topic that is relevant for adopters, SAP folks and partners alike because all of us who are in the SAP ecosystem have to pull into the same direction, so an adopter is able to put the horsepower of the Intelligent Enterprise concept to the street. Technology Evangelist Timo Elliott and I said together again to discuss all the things that matter if you either aspire to be an Intelligent Enterprise or you want your customer to become one. 19 Oct 2020SAP Experts Podcast Episode 46: The SAP S/4HANA Movement - Tom Janoshalmi00:42:39
If you are working with SAP ERP systems be it ECC or S/4HANA you are hard pressed not to have had contact at some point with the S/4HANA Movement or short MOVE. SAP has launched this global program two years ago to encourage our customers to make the step to our intelligent next-gen ERP and to provide them with the tools, assets, and services needed for an easy and seamless transformation. But still remember, all of us thought that technology induced industry disruption is a big thing, and then came COVID and our definition of a big thing actually changed. Money is tight, still the necessity to build up resilience and become a digital champion is unchanged. So I phoned up Senior Vice President and Head of S/4HANA Movement Ton Janoshalmi to set things straight. He is not only a 20-year veteran in prominent executive management positions at SAP in which he has been a strong force behind SAP Innovation and Digital Core Strategy for years but also a visiting professor at the Karlsruhe institute of technology. And if you ever met him you know, he is no friend of beating around the bush, so expect clear messages concerning where we are in the adoption of S/4HANA, what are the biggest mistakes in the approach, what are important factors for success and considering the upcoming SAPCONNECT, how SAP Partners can make a difference in delivering the Intelligent Enterprise to our customers. Not for today’s guests because that’s what they have just done. Since a few years the tech industry is facing growing criticism concerning the way its players are communicating with the world outside its bubble, you know I am talking about customers. Criticism is centering about hollow messages that are repetitive, non-individual, and polished until there are indistinguishable. What should help becomes a burden. That’s why I am happy that after half a year of planning and shifting I have finally got a hold an Sarah Yvonne Elsser. Sarah is a familiar face in Germany from her past as a presenter in television who has moved into consulting in all communication matters for tech companies, but is an podcast host herself, has her own video channel on youtube called tech well told and has become the face of Mercedes-Benz, whenever complicated technical matters have to be explained in a way that everybody understands. So we are talking about how technology, innovation and change should be communicated, what special things you should consider when interacting with your customers virtually and what are the typical mistakes corporations and professional people do including myself. 01 Feb 2021SAP Experts Podcast Episode 55: RISE with SAP: Our Strategic Cloud Offering 2021 - Dr. Uwe Grigoleit00:47:08
Guest: Dr. Uwe Grigoleit - Senior Vice President, Head of Go-to-Market , SAP Host: Alexander Greb – Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP Change has always been part of business, but today’s environment means we need to deal with change – both good and bad – faster than ever before. In the last 10 months we all learned AGAIN that only companies that adapt quickly will thrive. You need to work more agile, more intelligently, more efficiently to point out new ways. And doing so takes more than just a technical migration to the cloud or a lean conversion of your ECC system to S/4HANA. A holistic business transformation is about changing the whole culture and mindset of an enterprise. It’s about redesigning your business processes. It’s about adopting new technologies – to unlock new ways of running your business and stay ahead of your competitors. And as a listener to this podcast, you know: It’s not about continuing doing the things you did all the time just a bit better but being able to do things you were not able to do before. To truly transform your business at your speed and terms, you need more than Infrastructure-as-a- Service or Software-as-a-Service. You need a holistic offering. What you really need is Business Transformation-as-a-Service. „RISE with SAP“ is SAPs new 2021 ALL-IN strategy, an offer that packages the most important elements for your digital journey. It is aiming to bring together everything you need to transform your business in the way that works best for you. I am thrilled to welcome back again Dr. Uwe Grigoleit, Senior Vice President and Head of Go to Market at SAP who will explain the content and background of SAPs strategy and discusses the customer benefits and why this strategy is also a great thing for our partner community. To our partners and customers, this has become of course most obvious by our strategic business-transformation-as-a-service offering called RISE. But what is behind all that? In which overarching strategy is RISE embedded. And who are those corporates strategists, who are the brains behind all that and how do they work? I hooked up with Tobias Gefaeller, Vice President and Head of Corporate Strategy at SAP, to discuss not only details about SAPs Long Term Strategy called Reinvent, but also the methods and procedures of a Best Practice corporate strategy process, how technology is disrupting these activities and of course, the capabilities you need to excel in the exiting world of corporate strategy development at SAP. 01 Mar 2021SAP Experts Podcast Episode 57: The SAP S/4HANA Value Starter Program - Bill Bowers00:53:12
Guest: Bill Bowers, Global Vice President S/4HANA Solution Management, SAP Host: Alexander Greb – Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP In our industry, the first two months of the year are traditionally those with the big announcements. Lots of new and innovative things are released, presented and marketed, so it is sometimes pretty much a task to keep your eyes about the truly relevant news. This comes especially important when a really huge topic like RISEwithSAP is dominating on all channels. Today I want to win your attention for a new program SAP has invested in considerably. The Value Starter for S/4HANA is our all-new vision to value journey that will help you Align the benefits of S/4HANA with your vision and strategy, build your case for change, creating a transformation roadmap and definition of your deployment program and delivering quick adoption and time-to-value as well as drive your continuous innovation and optimization. 08 Mar 2021SAP Experts Podcast Episode 58: All about Business Process Intelligence - Wassilios Lolas, Michael Sokollek01:06:19
Guests: Wassilios Lolas - Vice President Customer Value Experience, SAP, Michael Sokollek - Business Development, SAP Host: Alexander Greb - Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP Welcome everybody, my name is Alexander Greb, I am the Customer Advisory lead S/4HANA at SAP and you are listening to the SAP Experts Podcast. The worst thing that can happen to any digitalization initiative is that the adopter decides to approach that topic of going to S/4HANA via a Lean Migration, that basically does nothing more than taking all your old stuff and pushing it on the modern platform and by this everything … is, looks and feels the same as before. Thats not how you progress that’s not how you leverage the value of digitalization and that’s not what best-in-class adopters want. Frankly, even if you decide to become not a Best-in-Class adopter, you still should take care that your money is well spend and you are actually better after moving to S/4HANA because you implement innovation AND you optimize your processes that in many cases, have not been changed since the Pleistocene while your business model and customer demands have moved on. What you want in the latter case is to have an application within your landscape that acts like a sparring partner. One that focuses your attention to those areas where you can and should be better, that gives you insight where the money and the performance is hidden under your legacy processes and how to realize potential fast and efficiently. This is what SAPs new line called Business Process Intelligence is all about. Being part of the RISEwithSAP offering, it brings you the full scope of next-gen process excellence like Analysis, Design and Simulation as well as Improvement, Roll-out and Govern and monitoring capabilities. For me that was a great opportunity to invite two old friends to this podcast who have now prominent roles within the new BPI organization: Wassilios Lolas, Vice President of Customer Value Experience and Michael Sokollek, Tech Evangelist and Business Development Responsible join me today to discuss all that you want to know about RISE and Business Process Intelligence. 15 Mar 2021SAP Experts Podcast Episode 59: A Masterclass in Sales (Part 1 of 2)01:19:52
Guests: Eric Shaver – Managing Partner, Kensei Partners LLC Host: Alexander Greb - Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP Today we have something very special for you, because this week and next week, we focus one hundred percent on a practice / a profession, that is playing a huge role in our industry because it’s the one that in a certain way feeds us and is central for the financial success of our enterprise. We are going to talk about sales and how it is done right in the 21 century. I have the very special privilege to welcome Mr Eric Shaver, Managing Partner of Kensei Partners a prominent sales consultancy firm, who has been a very successful Account Executive himself all of his career and today is advising sales professionals on how to excel at their jobs. that being said this is what we are going to do in this “Masterclass in Sales”. And since neither Eric’s competence nor his great personality can be squeezed in on Episode only, we did a two-part podcast out of this, so you will get the first part today, and the second part next week, overall three hours of premium content that will help you to become a master seller yourself. And especially in 2021 it is of utter importance that you reflect heavily on how you do your job. Because as Eric says in past years dumb money forgave bad behaviorisms and bad routines, but dump money has gone away – money has shifted, so have power and control structures. There are different criteria now so the bad news is: your legacy relationships don’t matter anymore. The rush to the cloud does the rest to disrupt your profession. The consequences are severe: When IT Spends were CAPEX you sold to the IT, since cloud this spend is now OPEX so business departments decide on what happens. On this first part we talked among many other things about how to approach and sell to business, on what you should build your relationship on and that trusted advisors don’t sell software nor cloud subscriptions You learn what is the great corrupter of your pipeline, the right way to talk about money, how you qualify properly, the sins of sales and why sales should NOT be the extension of marketing, Also, why discounts are false friends and kill your success in the long run and how you should correctly handle funding, where and when. And this is just the beginning. So if you are working in sales or sales supporting roles, buckle up cause this double episode is quite a ride. And btw finally we find out why salespeople are always portrayed in Hollywood movies as depressing or goofy. Host: Alexander Greb - Customer Advisory Lead S/4HANA, SAP Guests: Akshi Mohla Scheffert, Bill Bowers, Steven Spears, Timo Deiner, Victor Hoeck This is a very special episode for me because it is my farewell. In this episode, I will put this prediction to the test, and I couldn't have chosen a better guest for that. Angelina Ebeling is the founder of Acework, a consulting company zeroing in on remote work. She also has her own podcast about remote work over at Digital Kompakt, so if you want to know the best practices around how to work remotely, I encourage you to go check it out (links below).
