One week from today the Canucks will find out what draft position they'll land in when the NHL Draft Lottery takes place, so JPat and Wadden decided that today is the day to fire up the draft lottery simulator. The boys will rotate each day this week taking one spin of the wheel to see just where Vancouver's luck will land. Today's winner will surprise many, and perhaps give Canucks fans some hope. 

The lads also go over game 2 of the Abbotsford Canucks and Calgary Wranglers second round Calder Cup playoffs series, while discussing Vancouver's prospect pool being ranked 28th overall in the NHL according to Hockey Prospecting dot com.

The Bedard-less Blackhawks visited Vancity tonight to try to keep pace with the League Leading Vancouver Canucks. The Hawks haven't won a road game in their last 18 tries, so on paper this should've been a walk in the park...but the Hawks outshot the Canucks, only to be blanked by Thatcher Demko. Kuzmenko looks to be finding his confidence again, as he picks up assists on both Canuck goals. And in the least shocking stat of the day, Quinn Hughes scored again, increasing his lead atop the NHL D scoring race.

The Canucks fell short against their Pacific foes, the Seattle Kraken tonight. They looked to be a step behind the play all night. Seattle played a solid game and managed to neutralize the big guns of the Canucks for the most part. It was a game of the good, the bad and the ugly, as the Canucks fell to an early 4-1 deficit to the Columbus Blue Jackets. No lead is too big when you've got a heated Brock Boeser though. Brock netted a hat trick to bring the Canucks back to evens, and then Petey was able to put it away in overtime...which means the Canucks head into the All-Star break atop the NHL standings.

Captain Quinn and Co. woke up in Washington today to take on the Great 8, Alexander Ovechkin and his Capitals. Vancouver looked to bounce back after an OT loss yesterday in Detroit. The Ducks flew into town to face the Canucks in what was a 'must-win' game for Vancouver in a lot of ways. Thatcher Demko stood tall to keep the Canucks in the game as they were grossly outshot for the first half, but the Boys in Black finally found themselves and picked up the pace in the 3rd period. It was an up and down battle at Rogers Arena as the Canucks fell behind by 2 twice, and came back both times, only to lose in overtime. The offense came from one place and one place only tonight and that was of course, Pius Suter??? Suter scored all 3 goals for the Canucks tonight, 2 of which were set up by Captain Quinn, who extends his lead atop the D scoring race in the NHL. And also yes, there was a benching in the 3rd period, but this time it was not Kuzmenko, but Nikita Zadorov. After being slow on a couple of coverages, Coach Tocchet decided to sit the big man down for the final 19 mins of the game. All things added up to a 4-3 loss to the STL Blues in overtime. The OT goal AGAIN came after a blatant missed crosscheck to Petey's back.

News coming out of Montreal on Monday morning, as the Canadiens announced that they inked 2019 15th overall pick Cole Caufield to an 8-year, $62.5 million dollar contract extension. JPat and Wadden reflect back at that draft, which the Canucks used the 10th overall selection on Vasily Podkolzin. The boys wonder just what the ceiling will be for the young Russian, while lamenting over the fact that Vancouver had the chance to draft Caufield or Matt Boldy, who went one pick after Podkolzin to Minnesota.

Twas the night before the night before Xmas and the SJ Sharks were in town to wrap up the season series against the Canucks before the NHL takes it's 3 day holiday break. There were a lot of goals on not a lot of shots for both teams, as the Canucks take it by a score of 7-4 on a night that saw Kuzmenko re-united with Petey and Mikayev and wouldn't you know it, he scores 2 goals and can head into Xmas with a smile on his face and a monkey off his back.

Bo Horvat returned to Vancouver for the first time since the trade, and was greeted to a warm welcome and emotional pre game. Bo scored a goal for his new team and led the Isles to 2 goal leads twice, but on a night that was heavy on special teams, the Canucks stars fought back to take it in overtime on a beauty from Captain Quinn. Hronek quietly tied Dennis Kearns for the longest point streak every by a Canucks defenseman.

The Canucks took a short jaunt down to San Jose to face the winless Sharks and looked to avoid being the first to fall...and oh boy did the boys from Vancouver show up! Captain Quinn put up another 5 pts, to pad his lead in D scoring in the NHL, while Brock, JT, Petey, Hronek all put up strong numbers. Demko lost the shutout in the 3rd on a questionable goal that coach Rick was not going to bother disputing in such a blowout. Canucks come out on top 10-1!

The Canucks blew into the Windy City to face the Bedardless Blackhawks tonight, and Chicago sure could've used North Vancouver's finest in the lineup in this one as the Canucks tertiary scoring took over this game. The Canucks woke us West Coasters up early today as they motored into to Detroit to try to make up for getting hammered against Boston. Detroit struck first, but Vancouver came out hard in the second with a big response to go up 3-1. As we have come to know, there's 2 things the Canucks never do: one is blow leads in the 3rd period, and the other is lose 2 games in a row... well, scrap that idea, as Detroit answered back with 2 goals in the 3rd, followed by another in OT to beat the Canucks 4-3 in overtime.

The Canucks hoped to win back-to-back for the first time in a while tonight. The Carolina Hurricanes rolled into town on a recent slump, but you can never count out the Canes. It was a very quiet night for Captain Quinn, but Petey found his game again tonight, getting in on 3 of the Canucks goals. JT Miller had a great night and Nils Hoglander continued to impress. It was a tight game as Carolina constantly threatened to tie it up, but in the end, Demko was able to hold it together for the 4-3 win.

The Canucks hit the road to take on the Wild for the second time in very recent memory and this time was again, very uneventful. Casey DeSmith played a fantastic game, stopping 30 of 31 shots on goal, but the Wild goaltender was also great, stopping 34 of 35 Canucks and hanging on to take the W home for the Wild in the first Canuck shootout of the season. Vancouver will get a chance to bounce back tomorrow in another matinee game against Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks.

The center of the hockey universe came to Vancouver tonight, as the Maple Leafs faced off against the Canucks. There were 10 All Stars in the game tonight, but it was the bottom 6 from Vancouver that was running the show, with 2 goals each from Nils Hoglander and Connor Garland. Demko did his part and stopped 42 of 46 to give them a chance. The power play found it's legs again, to help put them over the edge for a 6-4 win.

Monday marks the start of the NHL Draft week as festivities are kicking off in Nashville ahead of the draft which takes place on Wednesday. JPat and Wadden kick around what they feel the Canucks will do with the seven picks that they have. They also go over the NHL Awards that will be handed out on Monday night. The Canucks took a trip to New Jersey for chapter 2 of Lollapa-Hughes-a, and with Jack out of the Devils lineup, Quinn looked to take advantage. The Canucks captain delivered with 3 points and a very dominant first 45 mins, fueled further by the re-uniting of the Lotto Line (Boeser, Petey, Miller), the big guns contributed to the majority of the Canucks offense on this night. Demko started strong, but he speed wobbled with the rest of the team for a few mins in the 3rd period that almost allowed the Devils to comeback in this one, but nope... the Demko hung on to get his 100th career win.

News out of Russia broke on Monday that Canucks forward Vitali Kravtsov was returning to the KHL after signing a two-year deal with his former club Chelyabinsk Traktor. JPat and Wadden discuss the young Russians time in Vancouver, which can only be described as underwhelming.

The boys go over the stellar performance from Arturs Silovs at the World Hockey Championship. The Canucks goalie prospect backstopped Latvia to the quarter-finals after beating Switzerland 4-3 in overtime. They also touch on Canada getting the game winning goal from Tyler Myers in a win over Czechia, while praising Connor Garland who also scored in team USA's win over Sweden.

The Canucks looked to end a 2 game losing skid against the Buffalo Sabres in game number 69 of the regular season. Vancouver came out on top 4-1, which seems to make sense, given where the teams are at in the standings, but doesn't make sense is where the goals were coming from!!! Not a single point from any of the Canucks top 5 scorers and all the points coming from unexpected places with 2 goals for Zadorov, 2 assists for Mikheyev, goals from Garland and Åman and single pts for Podkolzin, Lafferty, Lindholm and Blueger. The Canucks failed to close out the series at home in game 5. Nikita Zadorov opened the scoring going on an end to end rush and sniping the top corner, looking like a giant Quinn Hughes. Unfortunately that was the end of the offense for Vancouver, as again they managed only 20 shots on goal. Arturs Silovs played a solid game, allowing only 2 goals on 22 shots. The Canucks looked to put a strangle hold on the series in game 4 and managed to hold Connor McDavid to a single point, but the Oilers were desperate and carried a lead through most of the game. It was an exciting end to a great series and a fantastic season. The Canucks lost 3-2 to the Oilers, after outperforming expectations all season long and bringing playoff hockey back to Vancouver. Although, they managed to hold Connor McDavid in check for the most part, the injuries were ultimately too much to overcome.
