It's finally happened. Something Rolando and Nicole covered on the podcast has since gotten a remake or revival. 

This week they turn their attentions to Child's Play and the Chucky saga. The two spoke about the original 1988 film in July 2019. The Chucky character, created by Don Mancini has a long history on the big screen and can now be found on the small screen in the new USA & SyFy series, "Chucky."

And, this time Chucky is protecting (or grooming) a gay teenager in Hackensack, NJ. And Rolando and Nicole have a lot of thoughts and feelings about that. Thoughts like, "Is revenge ever right?" "Is Chucky the queer icon we need?" And, "Where is this idyllic version of Hackensack located because it ain't Jersey."

In 2001 "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" kickstarted one of the biggest franchises in cinematic history. Now, 20 years later, Warner Brothers hosted a reunion special for the actors and creatives of the Harry Potter films exclusively for HBO Max. Fans devoured.

The year was 1999. Children all over the US were missing out after staying up late to go to the opening night of "Pokémon: The First Movie" and missing out of school the next day, suffering from "pokéflu." If you were Rolando you were there. If you were Nicole - you didn't care. Now, 21 years later a CGI remake of the film, "Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution," hit Netflix leaving both diehard and fair-weather fans to wonder, "Why?"

In 2004, Showtime gave audiences “The L Word,” and gave lesbians a cast of characters to love, hate, and lust after. Marriage: blessing or curse? 1999 was quite a year for teen movies: Cruel Intentions. 10 Things I Hate About You. Drive Me Crazy. Jawbreaker. And of course, "She's All That" starring Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Rachel Leigh Cook. The Pygmalion adaptation focuses on high school teens who fall in love in the midst of a cruel bet. And Rolando was surprised how dark the film could be at times. Remakes Reboots & Revivals is wrapping up Pride 2022 talking about "Queer as Folk."

Unfortunately, Nicole is away on business but do not fret; Rolando is joined by Eddie Z and the hosts of Gayish, Mike Johnson and Kyle Getz. The four discuss the history of the three shows: the 1999 British original, the 2000 Showtime remake, and 2022's Peacock original. Originally met with backlash by conservatives and gay audiences, the shows would go on to become beloved yet flawed depictions of a gay culture never seen on television before.

This year, Nicole and Rolando are joined by MacKenzie Green to dissect Matt Reeves's "The Batman."
