Can a Christian have faith in God but also believe in science? So many Christian put science in one part of their brain and then put faith in a different corner of their brain because modern scientists and atheists say that because of science, we have need for faith. In today's conversation, Marc and Fuller talk about the different types of science, how it's perfectly plausible to have faith but also believe in science, and ultimately, science is not a direct-flight to becoming an atheist.

Pride. When you say this word, there are many possible definitions that one can give . . . some good and some bad. When it comes to the Bible, though, there is only one definition for pride, and it's not a good one. In fact, many believe that pride is what lead to Satan's fall and the destruction of mankind as a whole. So, what is pride?

Everyone knows that you never bring up two topics at the family dinner table: religion and politics. Thankfully, we aren't most people.

On this episode of Real Talk Christian Podcast, Marc and Fuller talk about politics and specifically answer the question, "Can Christians be political?" There are so many Christians that combine their faith with a political platform, and we set out to see if that's a Christian idea or a worldly idea that has crept into the faith. We have heard from some Christians that they know God loves them, but based on their actions and thoughts, they feel like God doesn’t like them. . . like He’s unhappy with them. The Purity Culture started as a movement to teach teens and young adults the purpose of sex, dating, and relationships. Although it has great intentions, the movement ended up hurting many who followed the list of do's and don’ts.   A few years ago, Joshua Harris, author of “I Kissed Dating Goodbye,” traveled around the nation, recording people’s testimonies of those who were hurt by this movement. Soon after his travels, he felt the need to rescinding his book and condemn the movement, but does all of this make the Purity Culture movement bad?   In this week's episode, Marc and Fuller discuss the Purity Culture – what it is, what it meant to accomplish, and what it means to live in movement. The Bible talks about sex and purity, but what in the purity culture is biblical and what is someone’s opinions? One way to find out!

Over the last year, many (and may we say most) church have started to livestream their church's worship services, but before COVID even showed, many larger churches started to build online church experiences and communities. Many churches now have an "online campus" for their church and hire staff members and ordained pastors to oversee and shepherd the church's online community. Today, we have another classic replay that I think has to be one of my favorites. Back on episode 85 (in season 2), Marc and Fuller had a real heart to heart conversation about why we are Christians. Many times on our show, we have a lot bunch of notes, stats, teaching points, theological points, and Scriptures all ready to go, but this conversation is much more personal in nature.   The point of this conversation was to (a) let you know why we are Christians and (b) help you answer the question, "so why are you a Christian?" As a Christian, how much can we look like the world in how we dress, think, and talk but still be devoted to Jesus? America is quickly becoming a "post Christian" nation and in order to reach America with Jesus, some people are beginning to think differently. Plus, with the rise of Pastors dressing more like the culture, music matching the culture, and Christians wanted to be involved in cultural issues, where should Christians draw the line?

In this episode, Marc and Fuller discuss the idea of Cultural Christianity and Biblical Christianity. One host falls more into the "Christianity mirroring culture" and the other host is more "Christianity not like culture." So, what should Christian do and is there anything that we can do?

This week, we are reflecting on the third advent candle: Joy.   The word advent means “coming” or “arrival” and speaks of Jesus’ arrival that first Christmas morning in Bethlehem.  The season of Advent is a time when we joyously and prayerfully anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ first coming. And, we look forward to His second coming, while also affirming that He is present in the world today offering His redeeming love to anyone who will simply receive it.   One of the most beautiful symbols of the Advent season is the traditional Advent wreath. This Advent wreath is intended to help us keep our focus on the real reason for the season – the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Today's church is often marked by programs, services, worship experiences, outreach events, and custom-tailored events to serve the whole family and surrounding community. Both small church and large churches are doing all they can to do something new and fresh to reach people for Jesus, but is this what the church should be focused on?

The unforgivable/unpardonable sin. The sin that so many Christians are scared to commit. Why? Because if you commit this sin, God will never forgive you, resulting in eternal separation from God in hell. But, is this a fear that any Christian should have?

In recent years, people have started saying that sin is a made up concept that is designed to keep religious people in line. If you have grown up in a religious home or in the church, you know that sin is a concept that is often preached from the pulpit as an offense towards God. However, it seems that many Christians don't have a clue what sin is, let alone feel the guilt caused by sin. Churches and Christians have taken many hits over the last few years. From scandals, accusations of misusing church resources, and so many other church failures to having a culture that seems to be doing its best to silence Christians in the public space, it seems that the church is starting to lose its ability to impact the culture around them. This week, we are reflecting on the fifth and final advent candle: The White Candle, symbolizing that Jesus is here!   The word advent means “coming” or “arrival” and speaks of Jesus’ arrival that first Christmas morning in Bethlehem.  The season of Advent is a time when we joyously and prayerfully anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ first coming. And, we look forward to His second coming, while also affirming that He is present in the world today offering His redeeming love to anyone who will simply receive it.   One of the most beautiful symbols of the Advent season is the traditional Advent wreath. This Advent wreath is intended to help us keep our focus on the real reason for the season – the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you have decided to become a Christian to simply escape torment in hell, are you really saved? Is this enough to get you into heaven when you die? In this episode of RTC, Marc and Fuller discuss these questions as well as so many other facets to salvation – predestination, age of innocents, asking Jesus into your heart, and so much more. Sin is not good. As a rule of thumb, this statement is agreed upon in Christian circles, but here's a question that many wrestle with– are some sins worse than others? Based on what tradition you come from, you may answer this question differently. In the Catholic tradition, there are different types of sins (venial and mortals sins) and each sin has a different level of punishment. In the Protestant tradition, most people believe that sin is sin and God sees all sin the same. Over the years, Christians have watched many famous Christian personalities and celebrities walk away from the faith that they once preached (e.g., Marty Sampson of Hillsong United, Jon Steingard of Hawk Nelson, Pastor Joshua Harris, author of I Kissed Dating Goodbye, and performing artist Ray Boltz). As many of these celebrities walk away, those still in the faith are stuck with their books, writings, songs, and resources and wonder "what do we do with all of this now?"

In this conversation of RTC, Marc and Fuller discuss how we handle Christian celebrities who walk away from the faith (or are in the process of deconstructing their faith) and what we should do with the content that they've produced.

In the sermon on the mount, Jesus said, "blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God." These words have been repeated throughout the centuries in many different contexts, but the truth still stands—peacemakers will be blessed by God. Have you ever wondered that it means to actually be a peacemaker, though?

In this week's episode of RTC, Marc and Fuller talk about what it means to be a peacemaker, and how being a peacemaker is one of the Christians main calling. In South America, fútbol (soccer) is king. Everyone plays the game, loves the game, and idolizes the soccer local heroes. Some people started to wonder, "if people love soccer so much, can we use this is a bridge to tell people about Jesus?" This is exactly what Joseph and Kimberly Frerichs asked themselves, and they decided to do something about it.

In this episode of RTC, Marc and Fuller sit down with Joseph Frerichs to talk about his journey. He is a third generation missionary to Peru, which means he grew up in the country and is a native. He has been playing soccer competitively in Peru since he was a kid, but left Peru and professional soccer to study ministry here in the states. Now, it's time to head back.

We talk with Joseph about what is was like as a missionary kid, what it takes to get back on the field, what kingdom successes he has seen since starting his mission work, and what it means for his family to uproot their American lives to head back to Peru. At the end of the interview, Kimberly joins us and shares her heart, too! We know you're going to love this conversation.

There's no question that tattoos are taboo in Christian circles – the more "conservative" a church, the fewer members with tattoos (unless those tattoos were from their past life of course), but it seems that more and more pastors, teachers, and Christians have several tattoos. As Christians, we aren't called to live up to the standard of other people, but we are called to live up to God's standards. What is God's standards on this topic?

This week, we are reflecting on the second advent candle: Peace.   The word advent means “coming” or “arrival” and speaks of Jesus’ arrival that first Christmas morning in Bethlehem.  The season of Advent is a time when we joyously and prayerfully anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ first coming. And, we look forward to His second coming, while also affirming that He is present in the world today offering His redeeming love to anyone who will simply receive it.   One of the most beautiful symbols of the Advent season is the traditional Advent wreath. This Advent wreath is intended to help us keep our focus on the real reason for the season – the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Is baptism essential? Most Christians would emphatically say “YES!” but we’ve noticed that to what extent is baptism essential is not always agreed upon. This week, we are reflecting on the first advent candle: HOPE.   The word advent means “coming” or “arrival” and speaks of Jesus’ arrival that first Christmas morning in Bethlehem.  The season of Advent is a time when we joyously and prayerfully anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ first coming. And, we look forward to His second coming, while also affirming that He is present in the world today offering His redeeming love to anyone who will simply receive it.   One of the most beautiful symbols of the Advent season is the traditional Advent wreath. This Advent wreath is intended to help us keep our focus on the real reason for the season – the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Friendships with unbelievers. How is that supposed to work? We hear that we are supposed to impact our world for Christ, and in order to impact the world, you need to be a part of the world. But on the flip side, many of us Christians were taught from an early age that if you are surrounded by bad influences, it can destroy your life. But then you read in the Bible that Jesus was a friend of sinners and scolded the religious people. Isn't there something in the Bible, though, that says, "Don't be unequally yoked?"

In this week's episode of RTC, Marc and Fuller discuss these thoughts and questions while trying to figure out the balance of "How can I be friends whose those of a different faith than me?"

A church is only as good as it's volunteering members, but does the church ask too much of it's volunteers? In the typical church, 20% of the members do 80% of the work. Why is this the case and is there something better that the church can do in order to not overwork or burn out it's members? Or, is this just a part of being a good church member?

There are some big words that have been spoken if you have been around Christianity for any length of time.
