He was the mayor of Aumsville, Oregon and ran as a nonaffiliated candidate for the Oregon House of Representatives. He is a retired US Army Master Sergeant where he was a medic. He is also a medical training instructor and has developed and delivered courses approved by leading medical associations, like the American Red Cross. He was the Director of Communications for All Oregon Votes, an organization that works for open primaries in Oregon. He talks about national politics, the presidential race, and parallels between Oregon and national politics, as well as ideas for resisting extremism.

In 2020, Jenny was covering a BLM rally and tweeted that there was an "openly anti-Zionist" speaker praising BDS, a pro-Palestinian movement. Jenny says that she received hateful tweets in response, and that she was admonished and "written up" by KOIN. On October 9, 2023, Jenny tweeted: "I no longer work for KOIN. I’m thankful that today I can publicly say, without fear of losing my job, that I stand with Israel."

Kezia Wanner is a lifelong Democrat who is running for Portland City Council in District 3. Kezia’s experience in public service and public safety is extensive. She has served as the: grants coordinator for Portland Police Bureau; budget and policy analyst for the City of Portland; program manager for Portland Police Bureau; parking enforcement and transportation division manager for Portland Bureau of Transportation; deputy director for the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office; Assistant City Manager for the City of Newberg; deputy director for Portland Fire and Rescue; and business and compliance director for the Oregon Department of Emergency Management.
Derek Clevenger was the mayor of Aumsville, Oregon. He became mayor after attending a city council meeting and asking questions that council refused to answer about a water and sewer fee that were not widely disclosed to citizens. As the chief petitioner, he leading the recall of half of the City Council of Aumsville and was later elected mayor, unseating the incumbent. He joined the Oregon National Guard, went on active duty, and earned his BA and his MBA while in Afghanistan. He is a trained medic and worked for the Department of State doing defense contracting in Northern Africa. Derek ran for Oregon House District 17 as an unaffiliated candidate. Because he ran as an unaffiliated candidate, he had to collect signatures to get his name on the ballot. If he had run as a Democrat or Republican, he simply would have paid a fee. Former Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan refused to certify his signatures, so Derek did not appear on the ballot. He since became interested in open primaries.

Vadim Mozyrsky is a federal administrative law judge who specializes in disability law. He is a former candidate for Portland City Council, and he helped initiate the lawsuit against the City of Portland on behalf of disabled individuals, arguing that blocking sidewalks violates the Americans With Disabilities Act. He served on the city's charter commission, but resigned from that commission and formed the Partnership for Common Sense Government, urging voters to reject the charter commissioners' recommendations. He is the President of Neighbors West-Northwest, which brings neighborhood associations together in Portland, and he is the Director of the Goose Hollow Neighborhood Association.

Karen Chirre owns the Stadium Superette convenience store with her husband in the Stadiumhood neighborhood off of West Burnside in Portland. Karen says that her husband is a first generation immigrant who lived in his car in order to save money to realize his dream of owning a convenience store. According to Karen, over 500 people have committed crimes against the Superette in the past four years. Karen says that she may have to be killed before Portland’s public safety problems get better.

Ben and his husband, Paul, sued the State of Oregon and won the right to get married. Ben and Paul are raising an adopted son, who is black. Former Oregon lawyer Donel Courtney advocated for the Lents Neighborhood where he lived in Portland, pushing back against homelessness and crime. Donel has since moved to India.
Eli Arnold is a former wartime military helicopter pilot and is now a member of Portland Police Bureau's Central Bike Squad. Eli is running for Portland City Council in District 4.
Noah Ernst is running for Portland City Council in District 1. He is a Superintendent and an in-house counsel lawyer for Radio Cab Co. Before he was a Superintendent, Noah drove a cab on the night shift for Radio Cab. Noah became a cab driver after he suffered a layoff from his litigator job at a law firm during the recession of 2008.

She talks about how she became civically involved and how she educated herself about critical issues so that she could be an informed voter.

Stadiumhood is located in the southeast corner of the Alphabet District, the northeast corner of Goose Hollow, and it shares a border with the Pearl District and downtown Portland. Pete talks about how Stadiumhood has been plagued by drugs and crime and how he and his neighbors have banded together to try to make Stadiumhood more safe and livable.
Michael (Mike) Thelin is the founder of Bolted Consulting, which, among other things, helps clients with communication, strategy, and design. He co-created Hot Luck, Austin's culinary and music festival. He also co-founded Feast Portland, which was the largest food festival in the Pacific Northwest. Mike has been a local Portland food writer, and he has appeared on numerous TV shows, including 42 episodes of "Unique Eats" on the Cooking Channel, Check out his Substack, "Food Cities," where he writes about things like politics, civic engagement, food, and travel. We talked about the unique challenges Portland faces and what happened to Feast; Mike's vision for Portland and how it can harness what makes it special; food (of course); music (he's a songwriter, singer and musician!); and more.

He owns a graffiti removal business and is married with children. His cousin was shot and killed by a Portland police officer. As a city council candidate, Terrence's priority is public safety. He is endorsed by the Portland Police Association.

Laura Curry describes herself as an itinerant artist and consultant. Laura has lived in various large cities throughout the world. She purchased a condominium in the Stadium neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, years ago when she was searching the United States for a pied-à-terre. She identifies as queer and has a daughter who is a person of color. Laura talks about the addiction and mental illness crises she regularly witnesses in her neighborhood and what she and her neighbors are trying to do about it. She also talks about why she believes that Multnomah County, where Portland is situated, is responsible for these crises.

She is physically and mentally disabled, and she spoke to me from her wheelchair about what it was like to live through 200 days of rioting in Portland, Oregon, from her government-subsidized housing. Learn what separates Susan from those living on the street around her in encampments and how she copes with her mental illnesses, addiction, and living in a city that she feels has utterly abandoned her.

Patrick Burnite was a homeless drug addict on the streets of Seattle. With the help of Andrea Suarez of We Heart Seattle, Patrick is housed and working as a resource navigator for Bybee Lakes Hope Center in Portland. Andrea Suarez is the founder and Executive Director of We Heart Seattle, which has transitioned nearly 200 people from the streets into shelters and housing. We Heart Seattle has also removed nearly a million pounds of trash from parks and public spaces.

The PPA is an independent labor organization representing Portland police officers and other employees of the Portland Police Bureau. Sgt. Schmautz discusses his recent trip to Portugal with other Oregon leaders to learn about Portugal's decriminalization of drugs and how it compares to the decriminalization of drugs in Oregon. Sgt. Schmautz also discusses a poll commissioned by the PPA regarding the Portland Police Accountability Commission (PAC), which shows that a majority of respondents do not approve of the PAC's recommendations regarding police accountability and that the majority of respondents favor city council sending the ballot measure that created the PAC back to the voters.

Dr. Kevin Sabet is working with Oregon leaders to reform or repeal Measure 110, the Oregon ballot measure that decriminalized drugs throughout the state of Oregon. Kevin is a former three-time White House Office of National Drug Control Policy advisor, having been the only person appointed to that office by both a Republican (GW Bush) and Democrat (Obama and Clinton). With former House member Patrick Kennedy (D), Dr. Sabet co-founded the Foundation for Drug Policy Solutions. The US launch took place at the Clinton Foundation's Clinton Global Initiative, along with officials from the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations.
