Welcome to Raising the New Earth Podcast! 

The New Earth can be described as a state of consciousness in which humans no longer create unnecessary suffering for themselves, one another, as well as other life-forms on the planet.  As we shift to these greater levels of consciousness, we want to foster discussion to bring forth new ideas and paradigms in health, nature, food, consciousness and spirituality - through the lens of motherhood.  

What types of nourishment will give our children  the necessary foundation for true health - for both themselves and our planet? 

What opportunities do we have to create a positive foundation for their wellbeing -  one that fosters courage, curiosity and compassion? 

And where in ourselves do we need to heal, grow, and evolve so that we can be their greatest reflection?

We seek to discuss answers to these questions and more through utilizing our collective education and experience in holistic wellness (and motherhood!) as well as through interviews with inspiring thought leaders. Our mission is to bring forth a community that calls us to higher levels of consciousness and tap into a greater potential so we can birth, co-create, and nourish a more beautiful world.

Welcome to our very first episode of Raising the New Earth!  

In this episode,  we give a little background on how we met and then realized that we needed to launch a podcast to give our perspectives on topics centered around health, wellness and spirituality.  We both feel deeply that there is an opportunity to birth something new and we are excited to bring these discussions to a broader audience.

We explore the awakening of consciousness and how that is showing up for each of us in this moment as mothers.  We also talk about how our children inspire the way we show up in the world and how we balance taking care of ourselves, while also doing so for our children.  Lastly, we touch a bit on how each of us hopes to foster a relationship between our children and our planet.

Today we are talking all about healthy boundaries - from the micro to the macro!  Starting with the boundary events within our body, particularly within our cells, it's important for each individual cell to maintain a healthy barrier.  We can take that idea and apply it to the macro in our own lives and get more intentional on determining our own healthy boundaries.  

In this episode we discuss:

  • Boundaries for our children, both setting them and also allowing them to sometimes figure out for themselves
  • Authentically knowing ourselves to more easily discern our own boundaries
  • Boundaries with friends and family and the energetics behind it
  • Consciously choosing what we consume as well as share on social media
  • The value of determining what is sacred to us

In today’s episode we dive into labels and explore opportunities to deconstruct and perhaps remove entirely some of the labels we put on ourselves and each other.  Labels can be beneficial - at its essence, that is what language is.  However, where are the places that we can bring more awareness to the labels that we are defining ourselves by and how can we begin to peel back a bit, become curious and perhaps discover a space for growth. 

In this episode, we discuss:

  • the labeling in our culture that leads to polarization and divisiveness, as well as the potential towards dogmatic thinking
  • labels in health and wellness, and using awareness to ensure any dietary labels are still serving our wellbeing
  • the benefits of being able to label our own emotions, as well as helping our kids do this and find healthy ways to express them
  • removing labels to discover more of the essence of yourself - the eternal I AM

In this timely episode we discuss mental health in a holistic (and wholistic) way. 
We often look at it through the lens of disease - you have depression/anxiety/bi-polar and such, but what if we change the paradigm from this dis-ease to just a symptom?  a symptom of the belief that you are separated.  

There can be many different causes in these symptom from trapped trauma to heavy metals in the brain etc., but they can all boil down to the lack of connection.  Connection to self, connection to community, connection to source energy.  

We also share ways to foster connection - coming back to yourself and  recognizing that you are  not your trapped imprint of your mind.  In fact, mental health cannot be achieved through the mind, but rather understanding that it started with an over connection TO the mind.  

The real crisis is the crisis of faith and the wisdom and perfection of ourselves and the universe. Using our western ways to assess and label the child or adult is  reductionistic in nature and doesn’t take into consideration our gifts and resources and the already healed parts of us that want to shine through if only allowed to be seen. 

Some helpful nutrients reducing depression may include:

 Omega 3 fatty acids: salmon, flaxseeds, chia seeds, watermelon seeds (chew them), tomatoes seeds, walnuts
 Vitamin D: sunlight or quality supplement

Primary food is recognizing that we derive energy in our lives through “nutrients” other than food.  You can be eating this ideal “perfect diet” (which actually doesn’t really exist) such as Whole Foods, plant based and such, but if you are not investing in these other areas of your life your health, from a holistic and whole-listic perspective - mental, emotional and physical - is going to suffer.  

Chronic depression is also widespread in our society. An estimated 15 million Americans suffer from depression and about 28 million people, or one in 10, in this country take antidepressants. Many also experience frustration, anger, disappointment, sadness and isolation. These conditions and emotions are all cries for primary food, but instead of giving ourselves what we really need, Americans often turn to secondary food (i.e real food) for comfort and solace. 

In this episode Brooke and Noa take a deep dive into the different primary foods and share what they are, specifically from our own experience in really understanding how critical they are. 

When we use secondary food as a way to alleviate or suppress our hunger for primary food, the body and mind suffer. Weight gain is just one of the consequences. Diet-related disorders such as heart disease, cancer, obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes are national epidemics, and one of the main reasons is because we are stuffing ourselves with secondary foods when we are really starving for primary food.

Healthy relationships
Regular physical activity (joyful movement)
Sense of purpose
Spiritual practice
Hydration

In this episode, Brooke and Noa share eight things we can do to enhance children's innate wonder of life and how not to get stuck in the parent-child labeling.  

1. Allow them to teach us. Our children are closer to the non-physical world; they have come from the non-physical into the physical. Spirituality teaches us that our soul chooses our parents and family before coming to this world. We make this choice because our family is comprised of the perfect souls to teach us the lessons we need to learn so that we can become the person we are meant to be

2. Kids who feel secure are the ones that feel the most free to play. Allow them to be innately who they are, not who we think they should be. 

3. Fostering an environment where they don't seek the approval of others. Children are free of judgment - and then, ultimately, they "learn" to look for the approval of others. 

4. Connection to Source - Kids are more intuitive, and as such, they feel things we may not. Listen to that intuition when they do not want to hug someone; it's valid.

5. Stop defending their behavior: they usually express our own internal feelings.

6. Natural Expression of Feelings - help them translate their feelings into words without going into frustration and anger. Check-in with yourself first.

7. Children's brains are like sponges, and in their theta brain wave, they Tare in super learning Innately connected state. Allow them to go into their creative mode. 

8. Sibling rivalry - spiritual traditions teach us that children choose their siblings and must learn from each other. Look at it from a more spiritual lens- how can I be their guide and facilitate what's going on rather than correct their behavior?

In 2012, the United Nations estimated that there were 316,600 living centenarians worldwide. They are called the blue zones. Those communities are in Ikaria in Greece, Sardina in Italy, Okinawa in Japan and Loma Linda in California. What they have found from these studies is that their community life is essential to them, their faith is strong, their continue being active, garden and walk into their 100's.  

Eating healthy does not need to be complicated nor does it need to have a fancy title or a label.

According to the World Health Organization, health is "a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely an absence of disease or infirmity” (WHO). There are times when health and nutrition often get mixed up. According to the WHO, nutrition entails fruit, vegetables, legumes, nuts, whole, unprocessed grains, etc., and is a critical part of healthy development. 

Better nutrition improves more robust immune systems and lower risk of diabetes and longevity. However, even the WHO is aware of the challenge of having a population that suffers from malnutrition and overweight at the same time. Mostly, due to lack of available nutrients in the processed food items that are being subsidized and pushed to the public schools and cafeterias.

The focus on health without the attention to the nutrient-rich nutrition needed is the root cause of obesity and poor food in cafeterias. We live in a health-driven society that does not attend to the nutritional details needed to fight obesity and diabetes trajectory in our kids.

Interestingly, the word “healing” has the same etymological root as “wholeness.” This means that healing in the ultimate sense is achieving wholeness. Patanjali said that all our suffering comes from the ignorance of believing that we are separate from the whole. Rather, to heal the disease of separateness is to integrate into the whole, realizing that we have never been separate; separateness is an illusion. The philosopher Ernest Holmes (1938), who founded a healing tradition called Science of Mind stated: “Healing is not accomplished through willpower but by knowing the Truth".

In this solo episode, Noa shares her hands-on expertise with a client, and how accessing the client’s "mental body" was key to the client healing the physical body. 

In this materialist culture, when we speak of strategies for good health, we include good hygiene, good nutrition, exercise, and a regular checkup. We are really speaking of caring for the physical body. In contrast, positive health begins when we start caring also for our vital, mental, supra-mental, and even bliss body. What does good hygiene for the vital or mental body mean? Just as physical hygiene tells us to avoid harmful physical environments, similarly, vital and mental hygiene must mean avoiding vital and mental pollution. As psychologist Uma Goswami  says, “Emotions are more contagious than bacteria and viruses."

In this episode, Brooke and Noa discuss the 1800s academic debate between two French scientists, Louis Pasteur and Bechamp, and how these arguments resurfaced during the recent pandemics.

We did not understand at the time how to support the innate and adaptive immune systems. We started to see all germs as pathogens, so we tried to adopt this belief that we had to sterilize the human condition or else infections would happen. We did not know that a bacterium was doing 90% of the work done in the human body, so we started giving kids in the 1940s and 50s an injection of penicillin for absolutely anything they came in for.

As this started, we began to see weaker and weaker elements within the food system and our biome, which led to the need for antibiotics for all living things: plants, animals, and people.

The reality is that most everyone has some sort of worms . Yes, even healthy people with no symptoms. However be mindful that viruses & bacterias are common co-infection, so its imperative that we have a comprehensive process to fight pathogens! 

Children who don't wash their hands often or adults who eat raw fish and under cooked meat or people who drink from contaminated water resources are most at risk for contracting parasites, but it can happen to anyone. Being in poor health is basically opening the door for these invaders to establish themselves in your body, and slowly feeding off your inner resources. This can cause nutrient deficiencies; a suppressed immune system, which can further perpetuate disease; This is a vicious cycle - poor health weakens the immune system, thus attracting more pathogens and bacteria.

In conventional medicine, anti-parasitic drugs, such as praziquantel and mebendazole, are the first line of defense. The problem is that these drugs can cause many uncomfortable side effects that can be almost as bad as the parasitic infection itself, including nausea, vomiting, headaches, weight loss, and insomnia. The damage parasites have caused before treatment will determine if you need additional pharmaceutical intervention, but there are many other things one can do do clean up their terrain and rid their bodies of those creepy crawlies

Considered as the seat of pure consciousness, the Crown chakra correlates with the neocortex, pineal gland, and the thalamic gate. An unbalanced Crown chakra is associated with many mental disorders, including Bipolar Disorder. 

As the metals in the emotional centers of the brain heat up, lasting heat radiates from these metals into brain cells and neurons in the emotional centers of the brain. Brain cells and neurons in the region around these metals dehydrate and burn out and atrophy. That alone can result in what I call low-grade renditions of bipolar disorder. For more heightened bipolar disorder, someone needs a trigger, and the ultimate trigger is adrenaline.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is characterized by deficiencies in social interactions and communication, limited and repetitive behaviors and interests, and in many (but not all) cases, intellectual and language impairments. For example, what used to be known as Asperger’s disorder would be on the mild end of the spectrum and what was called classic autism—the most serious form of the condition—would be on the opposite end.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), defines eating disorders as mental illness.  Eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and OSFED (other specified feeding or eating disorder).

From a chakra medicine standpoint, the seventh and final chakra, the Crown chakra, called Sahasrara, is the one connecting our human bodies to a field or pure universal intelligence. 

Considered as the seat of pure consciousness, the Crown chakra correlates with the neocortex, pineal gland, and the thalamic gate.  An unbalanced Crown chakra is associated with many mental disorders and depression. When balanced and open, the Crown chakra serves as the bridge into a field of pure being, happiness, and enlightenment.

The link between the Chakras demonstrates that we need to maintain a balance in emotional, mental activities and physical outlets, as they are all deeply interrelated. 

The Heart Chakra governs the heart, lungs, thymus immunity, blood and circulation. It is the centre of Compassion, Love, Group Consciousness and Spirituality.

When the Heart Chakra is open, we experience love, kindness, compassion and affection , but when it is blocked or misaligned, one may experience possessive love, grief, hurt and a feeling of loss, which may then lead to heart disease, breast cancer, myalgia and other immune system and related allergies.

Judgment is Left Column energy; it’s the order in the universe, the cause and effect, the energy of the Desire to Receive.  Mercy is the Endless, it’s Right Column energy; the seed of creation that is above nature, a sharing energy that manifests in our being merciful and forgiving – even if one doesn’t deserve forgiveness.

Every act of giving is simultaneously an act of receiving. Each time you welcome a gift into your life, you are providing the opportunity for someone to give. Just as a healthy physical heart receives blood from the periphery which it then oxygenates and pumps back out, your emotional heart stays healthy by receiving and giving love in all its forms.

From a Chakra perspective, asthma is  energetically related to the 4th chakra, also known as the Heart Chakra. The 4th chakra is located behind the chest around the heart and lungs. This chakra is responsible for our sense of self and our ability to connect with others. When the Heart Chakra is imbalanced, it can manifest physically as an immune system or lung deficiency, such as asthma.

Asthma is often associated with a sense of losing one’s sense of self or feeling a lack of self-worth, which can lead to a deep-seated desire for acknowledgement from others. This can cause an individual to “live outside of themselves,” focusing more on the happiness of others than their own. By understanding the sources, mechanisms, preventive measures, and detoxification methods, we can take steps to protect our brain health and advocate for a cleaner, safer environment.

Heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium, are naturally occurring elements found in the Earth's crust. While some, like iron and zinc, are essential for biological functions in trace amounts, others are purely toxic. These metals can enter our bodies through various pathways—contaminated food and water, industrial emissions, and even household products.

In addition to heavy metals, the consumption of ultra-processed foods has also been linked to cognitive decline. Ultra-processed foods are characterized by their high content of sugar, unhealthy fats, salt, and artificial additives. A study published in the journal Neurology has shown that diets high in ultra-processed foods are associated with an increased risk of cognitive impairment.

The study found that individuals who consumed the highest amounts of ultra-processed foods had a 28% faster rate of cognitive decline compared to those who consumed the least.
