Hello there! I am the founder of Charlie’s Soap. When I started the company back in the late 1970’s, I never expected that our simple but powerful cleaner we be the center of an international operation some 40 years later. It all started when I was working for my dad, Charlie Sutherland Sr., at a textile lubricant plant in North Carolina. One day, word came down that we needed to find a good cleaner for the textile machines – and quick! Not only would it have to clean up the oil on the machines, but it could not harm the little old ladies whose job it was to clean them. It also had to be acceptable to local wastewater treatment. Well, my background is in engineering, chemistry, and a bit of mathematics. I knew how to make the oils we used in the plant so I reverse engineered a formula to break those oils down in water. Wouldn’t you know it, the stuff worked even better than I expected. Originally, the whole goal was just to keep the machines clean, but soon we discovered that the soap cleaned fabric really well too. I even named it ‘SB-2069’ to make it sound like I knew what I was doing. Not bad for a first try. Unsurprisingly, folks working with the cleaner loved the stuff and started calling it “Charlie’s Soap” after my dad. Soon, we knew a demand was growing for Charlie’s Soap because the employees kept stealing the stuff left and right! That’s when I knew it was time to quit my day job, take a leap of faith, and buy our little soap plant outright. The local Winn-Dixie agreed to be our first outlet and Charlie’s Soap was officially born. In the early years, I was on my own, adrift in a sea of suds and uncertainty. We tried many ways to grow the “Soap.” Some worked; many didn’t. Marketing was really not my forte. But my family never stopped trying. My kids get the credit for our success. As they grew older, they joined the business and helped make us into what we are today. My youngest, Morgan, and I created the Laundry Powder. Today he runs IT and Quality Control. Taylor, the oldest, took on sales and marketing. James specializes in engineering and international sales. My daughter Jenny is chairman of the board. And my wife Jane is our treasurer. Thanks to them, today we sell in thousands of mom-and-pop specialty shops, major hardware chains, supermarkets, and through the largest online retailers around the world. But through it all, we have always operated Charlie’s Soap with a dedication to producing the highest quality biodegradable, environmentally safe products possible. Over the years, they have been tested against the best and they have always won, hands down. The combination of good science, environmentally friendly ingredients, and a darn good soap is one that still gets me excited. Jim Reeves:

Here we have Jim Reeves, a man who at his core is devoted to his faith, his family, and his friends. He is a 21 year veteran of the US Navy who thrives on serving others. 

Like many, Jim’s fascination with flying goes back to his childhood and grew until his time in the military as a Naval Aircrewman with over 4000 flight hours.

Joined by his youngest son, Morgan, both found enjoyment in RC flying, building and flying various contraptions. It was through this hobby and the Flite Test family of hobbyists that they discovered paramotoring via the Paradigm team and the training offered by those at Aviator Paramotor at Lake Wales Florida. It was there where they completed their training in November 2020. 

Jim is currently finishing up his paramotor build so he can get back in the air. 

Jim’s equipment is a Ozone Kona wing with a Gravity Defiant paramotor. 

Jim does aspire to do more in the sport and does have a website, AngelWingsParamotor.com Jim (sent with love effect)

Morgan Reeves:

Born in Spain 1994. At the age of 2, he had his first taste of flight on C5 galaxy.  He moved to Pax River Maryland, Koneohe Bay Hawaii, and Lisbon Maine where he finally settled and spent the rest of his youth.  Joined the Navy in 2012 and is now on terminal leave until 30 Dec 2020.  During his leave in November, Morgan and his father completed their training at Aviator PPG Lake Wales, Florida. Morgan continues his flying over in Saint Louis Missouri where he attends online classes with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. His intentions are to finish his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics and commission as a United States Air Force Pilot. 

His wife Elizabeth is 23 weeks pregnant with their first child, a baby girl named Jordan Joy Reeves.

Hi, I'm Avery, I'm 27. My parents are both hot air balloon pilots, and I've been flying anything I can since I was 4 months old. I was first introduced to ppg when someone foot launched along side a hot air balloon flight I was crewing for, then rediscovered it watching Tucker. In 2019 I taught myself kiting, then went to Mojo's Flight School in Charlotte NC and got PPG2 rated. My first flight was in February 2022, and I'm coming up on 80 flights and 30 hours. I have a fascination with flying on the bare minimum of power and I'm most famous for my Chinese AliExpress paramotor saga.

Kris Wheeler is fairly new to the world of paramotors, but not new to the world of adventure. As a Systems Engineer by trade, his learning is usually guided by logic and and troubleshooting, but mixed with adventure and sometimes even throwing caution to the wind. As an avid adventurer, Kris has spent a lot of time learning survival skills and has worked in Search and Rescue for,the State of Arizona. Kris lives in East Texas with his wife Tiffany out in a rural area with a landing zone outside the front yard. They are empty-nesters and they have 4 children ages 17 to 24. BIO: Hello everyone my name is Michael R Crotchett I got into airplanes back when I was 14 my mother bought me a be a pilot for a day flight in St. Louis Missouri After I graduated high school I went off to look Lynn State Tech now known as state tech of Missouri. To study A and P mechanic . airframe and powerplants I did 2 1/2 semesters before I decided I would join the Marine Corps in 2006 I went off to Boot Camp and graduated in December 15 of 2006 And later after my school training I became an aviation supply specialist 6672 , but it wasn’t till September 23rd 2018 and my friend Nick took me up on his powered parachute and instantly fell in love with aviation all over again although I could not afford one of those aircraft I immediately began searching and scouring the webs for videos and information on it Or I came across Paramotors and I didn’t even realize those existed. Two yrs later Covid set inn an I saved up the money for training i got into a class in May 1 to the 7th of 2021 and since then I’ve had the most amazing experience and met all kinds of interesting folks in made all kinds of new friends and it’s been the best thing I’ve ever decided to do in my life it’s also got me back into GA aircraft where I am working on my private pilots license currently then plan on attending SWIC in Belleville Illinois to continue my GA a training into January 2023

My name is Nathan. I’m a pilot based out of Colorado. I’ve flown all around the world in various aircraft. From gyro-copters to jets and everything in between. If it has wings, I’d try and fly it. I guess it’s safe to say I have a taste for adventure. There is something truly defining when it comes to to the relationship of “man and machine”. I have been in aviation for the last 15 years. I started out flying hang gliders in my late teenage years, and progressed to ultralights. My aviation career has had a multitude of variations. I operated leak detection system operations on the back of a helicopter for oil pipeline companies. Also few trainer jets specializing in guidance system applications. Paramotors game into my life around 2010, and it’s one of the few flying activities I can say still has the same magical affect on my soul. I flew airshows for about 5 years in paramotors with my buddy Chris Montes, had an absolute blast doing that. Also had several what I call code brown moments flying butt fans over the years. I represented Team USA with Matt Minyard in the World Pylon Racing Championships in Egypt in 2017. And flew through the arches of Moab with Bear Grylls. I have truly met some of the best people around the world because of this sport. I’m often asked, do I prefer flying airplanes more than paramotors. I often disagree. There is something about paramotoring that still encompasses the true freedom that pilots once experienced nearly 100 years ago in the barnstorming era. I feel like this is one of the last aviation realms that a pilot can still feel like a barnstormer. So all this talk about a world altitude record we recently set. ALL ABOUT MARK DROZD

Mark Drozd Is a 4+ year ppg pilot and lives in a suburb about 40 miles west of Chicago. 

Mark has been around aviation since he was young with his Uncle first giving him rides as a young child in Cessna 152 and 172. Later as a teenager, he used to go on occasional flights in his cousin's airplane (a Lake amphibian) who was a commercial airline pilot. Due to the expense of general aviation, Mark became interested in ultralights and eventually found powered paragliders. 

Mark currently owns a Parajet V2 (Macro) with a Melossi xt180 cc and a SkyCruiser with a top 80 engine. For wings, he flies an old McPara Eden 4 - 25 meter when he wants to go low and slow and also a McPara Colorado 21 meter for cross country flights. 

Mark considered himself extremely lucky to have survived catching fire at about 1000 AGL due to a lipo battery malfunction. Working on his 5th year of flying powered paragliders, he has experienced and learned a lot and looks forward to learning even more in the years ahead

BIO: Scuba Steve I was born & raised in Atlanta GA ..I lived there 50 years.My 1st taste of flying was when I went hang-gliding on my 40th b-day.I almost jumped into that sport but didn’t want to drive to the mountains to fly.So fast forward to 2012 I got a gas powered RC plane but wanted more.In 2016 I got a Mavic pro drone and still wanted more.I moved to VA because of work and relationship issues in 2019.I saw a Tucker Gott video like a lot of people did and I knew that was what I truly wanted..I saved up and trained to foot launch a paramotor with Kyle O’Glee in LA.My 1st flight was May 5,2022.I only had 1 more flight before it was time to return home.By late August I had bought my own new equipment ..Fly products rider with Moster 185 Factory R and 140cm prop.Also the BGD Magic ML wing class A (27m).I have flown once on my new equipment and can’t wait to again.Just waiting for injuries to heal and for the heat to be turned back on 🙂

A little about my PPG. I learned to fly in 2017 from USPPA instructor Michael O'Daniel out of Northern Virginia. He has recently passed away (fatal PG accident in Columbia in 2020). I learned on an Air Conception 130 and since replaced the motor with a Moster 185 on that titanium frame. I fly a MacPara Charger 25M. I have my Tandem Exemption for Trike and have a Fly Products Xenit with Cosmos 300, I fly a BGD Cyclone 39M for solo and light tandems and a MacPara Pasha 5 @ 42M for larger tandems. I also have an electric SP 140 that I love for short flights. I'm getting into PG as well since Kyle and Travis from One Up Adventures had a PG beginner experience baked into their Costa Rica trip...and I loved it. I have a YouTube channel but admittedly I’m way behind on posting anything. Scott Richardson:

Since obtaining his sport pilot certificate for powered parachutes in 2017, Scott Richardson has combined his love of flying and photography by flying his Buckeye Dream Machine PPC over the Indiana landscape and photographing the views and local action from the air.  In addition to the still photography, Scott has also created over 200 flight videos of his adventures which have inspired many others to take up the sport of flying.  Scott particularly enjoys taking people up for their first powered parachute flights as well as photographing the hardworking farmers during the fall harvest season.

Scott is currently an IT consultant at a major pharmaceutical company in Indianapolis, IN and previously worked for the US Navy, Hughes Aircraft and Raytheon as an electronics engineer doing airborne radar systems analysis, modeling and simulation.  Scott also worked for several years on the side as a stringer for a local newspaper photographing high school, college and professional sports as well as Indycar and NASCAR racing events.

I’m Ben, 28 from the UK. Caught the flying bug from flying light aircraft but fell in love with paramotoring. Have been paramotoring since Jan 2019. Have done some instructing of new ppg pilots too. I came across the pond to train as an aircraft mechanic for missionary aviation where I ended up serving with harvest Aviation in a hangar now home to Florida flight sports. Though I don’t work in aviation now, I am heavily involved in our local community through tourism as board member for visit hardee and run my own outdoors adventure business primarily operating on the peace river with kayak ecotourism. With a passion for people to enjoy life outdoors, I love to promote opportunities like Florida flight sports because of offers a sense of freedom and opportunity to see our rural county from a different perspective again from the sky. I combine this life of adventure with encouraging others to take the opportunities to invest in their own healthy lifestyle choices and use my personal story and health journey to inspire others to live their dreams in a prodactive way! Kenny Schnatter began his aviation adventure in 2006. Kenny grew up riding and racing motocross. He always had a passion for thrill and excitement. When he discovered that flying could be like hitting a jump on his dirt bike but not coming down until an hour later he knew it was something that he had to persue. He went on to do some research and find out what paramotors were all about. He went for training to learn to fly paramotors. After realizing he thought it would be nice to have others enjoy the flight with him he trained for his license on a powered parachute and then fixed wing airplanes. Kenny always had a desire to help people in anyway he could. Kenny enjoyed paramotors so much he knew he had to find a way to help people with the sport and give them the best training he could for safety and to have fun! Kenny then decided to open Pennsylvania PPG LLC in 2022. Aly is a pretty diverse person coming into the sport last June she’s fresh to the aviation world. She picked up PPG and has been hungry to learn as much as she can. 

Aly is a hospitality major and she proudly wears the UCF black and gold colors often. While she thought she wanted to pursue hospitality management she moved into real estate and still practices that when she’s not at the airport. She started her work in PPG at Aviator PPG and she did a bit of everything and fell in love with it. She now has moved over to One Up Adventures and still does a bit of everything but is now working toward her instructor rating!

BIO About me. 48, 3 fantastic Sons. Have had more adventurous blood in my veins. My entire life. I live in S. Utah and Northern UT. Have been self employed most of my adult life. Have built up a few companies and sold them. The most recent was about 3 years ago. Soft retired at that time. I have always done my best to build a life that allows me to always say YES or Yes! Lets make it happen. My life as it pertains to Paramotoring. About 25 yrs ago, I got the I need to fly bug. There is a LZ near my home in SLC. I took lessons, borrowed gear, then within a week, I made a very Obvious mistake that simply just didn't click at the time. My instructor Steve Mayer- Cloud 9. Landed me safely through radio. I was embarrassed that my brain didn't click as to what I was doing wrong and realized that it could have been deadly. That same week, I watched 2 paragliders get tangled while ridge soaring and the both grounded. (Alive). At that point I gave up on furthering my paragliding. Fast forward to 2020. I still had the bug to fly. Knew nothing about Paramotoring. Saw a FB ad from St George Paramotor. I was free from work or financial burdens, so I met with the instructors told them to order what they would buy themselves and started the instruction. I have a very high risk tolerance, I breezed through their instruction and was in the air after about 5-6 days. I felt confident in the air. Started flying with others. Then in Oct 2021, Flying by myself. I took a decent fall from a full wing collapse, around 90ft. It took me about 6 months to get myself/body back in the air. Then I made it a Goal to be well enough to do the trip to Egypt over the anniversary date of my fall. 😁. I made it happen!

I'm a software engineer, I'm from Romania. For the last two years I've been living in my RV trailer, traveling USA, working, flying PG and PPG, kiteboarding, hiking, canyoning, surfing, whatnot. I did my PPG training with Midwest Parajet in 2019 and I have P3 free flight rating. I have equal passion for both PG and PPG, and traveling around allowed me to fly diverse, sometimes spectacular landscapes. Canyons, mountains, lakes, desert, dunes, beaches. My favorite state in US so far: Utah. Came in for 2 weeks to get my free flight rating with Cloud 9, one year later I was still in Utah. There's so much natural beauty, so much to explore in the state. I'm sharing this amazing adventure with my wife, Manuela. She flies too, but mainly PG, the motor is a bit heavy for her. Right now we're crossing California, slowly heading towards Lake Tahoe, where my biggest future adventure begins mid September: I subscribed for the Wingman Challenge, 1100 miles on paramotor.

Biography

I have always had dreams of flying a child. They were the same type of dream floating above the park where I grew up like Superman but in slow motion. My grandfather was a pilot of the B-17 in WW2. His plane was shot down on a mission over Hungary and he became a prisoner of war. I used to see his maps from training and all his flying memorabilia whenever we visited him sparking thoughts in my mind about aviation. My first taste of flying in an ultra light was in Interlaken Switzerland in May of 1999. I did a tandem flight with an outfit that was offering flights to tourists. I knew right then that this was going to be part of my life. I got into a skydiving class and did 14 jumps through the school. Life took me away from that and into Rock Climbing which I invested all my energy and resources into doing until around 2005. In 2007 I found Paragliding in Moro Bay while I lived there for 9 months. I signed up with the local instructor and did ridge soaring for a couple of years on and off again. I spent several years as a spectator at the Black Hawk Flyin events until I saved up for paramotor gear. I then signed up with Team Fly Halo for training in the spring 2018. Harley Milne became the first Paramotor Pilot to fly in all 50 states in June 2020 (Guinness Record Pending) during his 50xChallenge Paramotor Tour. He also completed a new record for the fastest Paramotor crossing of the USA on December 7 2020. The New USA Coast to Coast Records were as follows: Fastest Total Flight Time Coast to Coast Fastest Time to Complete Flying Coast to Coast. Jeremy has always wanted to fly. He found paramotoring on YouTube’s recommended videos section while at Michigan State University in 2015. Over the years, his paramotor obsession grew & grew. He graduated university, got a job in corporate finance, & could finally afford to get into ppg. He signed up for paramotor training in May 2019 with Mike Cotter, Justin Fox, & Bob Harris of FlyMIPPG. After training he bought a Parajet Maverick with the Atom 80 and a 24M Ozone Mojo Pwr 1. He joined a local group of experienced paramotor people in Kankakee IL. He flew with them for a season and moved back home to Michigan. He’s been flying all over Michigan ever since. He currently flies his 24M Mojo Pwr 1 & 20M BGD Luna 2. He has ~150 flights (~100 hrs) and has taken a SIV with Andy Fuller & Bill Dolbow at Skylab. You can find him flying around metro Detroit, Michigan fly-ins, or on a yearly winter ppg trip to Florida.
