05 Jan 2023012: The Power in the Pause: Taking time to Rest, Review, + Reflect00:10:01

When was the last time you reviewed your vision for success? Every now and then, we take a pause to reflect, review and re-evaluate the seasons in our life. Just like this podcast, I had to take a break because of the major events that happened in my life. But now, it's back!

In this episode, I share the reason why I took a break from creating, marketing, and scaling my business, as well as the lessons I learned in the power of rest. I also share an exercise that helps me to move fast and recognize how I want to show up for myself and my business in the future.

Show Highlights:

[02:32]. Receiving is not an easy act for me to embrace. At my core, I am the caregiver, and feeding others is my love language. Being comfortable with allowing others to take the wheel wasn't easy, but when I leaned into it, it got easier, and it was a huge lesson in both grace and gratitude.

[03:05] A pause from creating marketing, promoting this podcast, and ultimately growing and scaling my business. I learned a lot. I learned that there's a lot of power in baby steps, and I took the time to reflect.

[06:13] In both your reflection and your planning, it's super important to always use the same framework. First, reflect on the past, the second project into the future, and third, plan in the present.

12 Jan 2023013: The Fashion, the Funds, the Fight with Kerry, Katy, and Shelly of Cancer Cartel00:41:36

Fighting cancer is no joke. Most of the cancer warriors did not only worry about their battle with cancer but also how much their cancer was costing them and their families.

Kerry, Katy, and Shelly all fight and win against cancer. They see and hear other people's struggles firsthand. As a way to support their cancer comrades, they build Cancer Cartel and use fashion to fund the fight for cancer warriors so they can focus on getting well.

In this episode, the ladies of Cancer Cartel talk about their resilient journey in helping cancer warriors fund their battle through donations, grants, strategic brand partnerships, and events. They also share how they started, the sacrifices they made to help cancer warriors, and how people can take part in saving a warrior's life.

Show Highlights:

[09:39] I would say we learned a lot from a lot of charities about what we don't wanna be and what we don't wanna do.

[17:34] When we designed Cancer Cartel, we designed it with the premise that 100% of our donor funds will always go to the Cancer Warrior in need, but in order to operate. We need operating costs.

[21:26] We kicked off the Cancer Cartel right before the pandemic. So, we knew people were home during that time, and we started reaching out to various stylists in LA, and New York, especially some in Dallas, and so they connected us with some of their clients who donated clothing and stuff.

[23:45] We've become a resource in the cancer space. We continue to disrupt the cancer nonprofit world as well as just the nonprofit world in general.

[38:18] I might get scared about the direction, like, oh my gosh, we're so overwhelmed, and then these two come in and say, we got this. So we have that, we can build each other.

[41:33] Even though we're not getting paid, we definitely feel like we are getting something huge out of this ourselves.

19 Jan 2023014: Get Your Shit Together: 5 Simple Tips to Organize your Computer00:16:46

Do you have a messy computer? With all the random photos, downloaded PDFs of recipes, and freebies that you grab, it literally looks like a big digital chaos.

A cluttered computer is difficult to navigate, so cleaning and tidying up things is important. It may be a bit tedious work, but getting the results you wanted is so refreshing.

This is the first episode of the Get Your Shit Together series, where I give bite-sized actionable tips you can take and apply to build a digital life and business in your fifties and beyond.

In this episode, I share simple steps on how to declutter and organize your computer, so you have the confidence to use it as a powerful tool for your life and business. Each step is designed to help you create a one-and-done system that you can keep and repeat as you move through life.

Show Highlights:

[02:09] Being a systems girl myself, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that having some simple systems in place not only helps me with my clarity, it has allowed me to scale and grow my team in a way that is both efficient and productive.

[02:54] Whether you're building a business or not, creating order out of chaos will give you the confidence and the tools to manifest whatever it is you desire to create

[05:58] By picking only one. This does a few things. It allows you to focus on one area of your life and it will eliminate both overwhelm and burnout.

[09:06] I bet you have a dozen or two of the same photo of your kid picking up a bat. Pick one or two of those for saving, but put the rest in the trash.

[11:30] As you start to label stuff, you're going to see that you really don't need a lot of the things you've been saving. Next week when you go back to your blocking, you get to start fresh, and that's always a really great feeling.

26 Jan 2023015: The Art of Redesigning Your To-Do List for Success with Laurey Bennett-Levy00:29:07

One of the most effective ways of being productive and staying organized is using a to-do list. But when you have a LOT of items listed and never really do it, you'll only end up stressed. Laurey used to have a crazy to-do list until I helped her redesign it for success.

In this episode, we have Laurey Bennett Levy in our client spotlight. Laurey is an artist, a dear friend, and a client. We have been working together for the past 7 years, and it has been such an honor to walk with her and witness the growth and success of her artistic career.

During the conversation, Laurey shares how her life and career changed and led her to reignite her passion for art. Laurey talks about how her crazy to-do list became more focused and organized, how she created an automated community with 300+ members, and how she built a business and the life she desires in her fifties.

Show Highlights:

[05:34] I was a graphic designer all those years, and I think that's a business where you create things for other people. I believe that this stage of my life as my mothering is not as much needed, and we are not the same family paradigm. I just wanted to do something that was for me, and painting and art are for me.

[08:20] What I love about ourselves is that we get really vulnerable at how hard we work. It's a hard job as a 50-year-old and up to push yourself into this 30-year-old world, but we're doing it

[11:10] You took me into that list and said, "label everything from one to five. Label the things that have to get done right now".

[19:39] The biggest leap was getting that to-do list almost as a piece of art itself to make it beautiful so that I feel like "I just always say, you take away my anxiety about everything."

[22:07] What I'm doing behind the scenes is getting the rest of my life together so that when the passion for using my hands and making art, I know it will come back.

02 Feb 2023016: How To Avoid Burnout - 5 TIPS to Release The Inner Bully00:16:38

Most people today work 24/7. And if you are not working 70+ a week, it probably feels like it does. And because of that, burnout is inevitable.

In addition to that, most of the people I know and work with are flying solo. No team, no collaboration, no one to bounce ideas off of.

And because of that burnout is a real problem because instead of recognizing it as exhaustion, instead, it’s easy to look at it as a failure.

When you get to that point, it’s important to step back, take a brief pause, and become the observer. It’s in those moments that you can take the time to redirect and prioritize what is important. And what’s important is balance.

That is the key to avoiding burnout.

In this episode, I am going to share 5 key tips that will help you stay on track, reach those milestones and goals, and hopefully eliminate the negative self-talk trap. Plus, why becoming part of a community of like-minded humans is the most important thing you can do for your mind and your spirit.

Show Highlights:

[2:04] The truth is no one’s actually failing. But the feeling of failure vibrates so loud because when you’re passionate about what you’re creating and who you’re serving, getting into what you think might be the end goal feels incredibly daunting.

[2:23] There is no one end goal. Unfortunately or fortunately, you’re never done.

[4:36] Part of getting to where you want to go is tackling that to-do list, one bite at a time. Be super strategic about it and shifting your narrative little by little.

[8:13] Hard nos come when you are aligned with what you are willing to accept and not accept.

[13:01] Even though we are not physically sitting in the same room, we are still invisible in the zoom screen and because of that, we are feeling a bit less lonely.

09 Feb 2023017: Spark your Business using Pinterest with Sandy Park00:41:12

Have you ever found yourself scrolling the social platform, Pinterest, to find the best recipe, a storage idea for your small office, or a how-to start your first knitting project? Well, guess what, it’s also a great place to build brand awareness for your online business.

In this episode, we have Sandy Park as our guest. Sandy, a former accounting executive, and consultant, pivoted to entrepreneurship after her second child was born. Using Pinterest to help her declutter and prepare for baby number 2, she realized that this platform could also be the vehicle to help her build her online, digital empire.

Sandy shares tips on how to start with your Pinterest journey and a list of technical but helpful terms to be familiar with in generating customer connections.

Show Highlights:

[4:48] Started to have some mental clutter as to how I wanted to shift my career at that time and do some pivots. And so what ended up happening was I moved from a pure employee role in accounting to consulting with myself. That was a big shift.

[8:47] I have the creative hat but I'm also looking at it from an analytical standpoint.

[20:12] I know I was petrified in the beginning when I started my journey of posting because I want to get it just right, but the truth is there is no such thing as just right, you can only test, test and test again.

[22:26] Put it in a box, put it to the side, and start fresh. Create a new system and then if you want to, if you feel so compelled, you can go back to that box and start organizing. But no, that is not going to stand in your way moving forward.

[26:58] If you want the biggest bank to your buck, right now in this environment, it's short-form video, hands down.

[32:40] I am already living my dream life, truly. I already have the slow mornings, I already have the time freedom, and the location freedom, so for me, I would like more of this, to be honest.

[38:00] Literally a grain of sand in the ocean, that is what each post represents and if that is true, Nobody is going to see this, might as well build up my skill and get out there.

16 Feb 2023018: Where's The Damn File?00:18:53

Are you running out of computer storage?

The truth is, your storage is at its max because you have so much clutter, duplicate files, and outdated downloads, that your computer is not running at its full capacity.

When it comes to clearing the clutter, it’s so much easier to physically see a messy closet, an overpacked and neglected garage, and a pantry that has way too many bottles of unopened olive oil.

Your computer, not so much. All you really see is the screen and whatever tabs you have open. There is so much that is buried, thus forgotten

In this episode of Get Your Shit Together, I share with you  5 tips on how to begin developing a labeling system that will make better sense when it comes to all those damn files.

In listening to this episode, you will learn my process for how I have started tackling this beast and my hope for you is that you walk away with a little bit of inspiration to do the same. This step-by-step approach could be the difference between feeling as though you need to buy a new computer or saving the one you already have.

Show Highlights:

[04:47] Go through that KEEP folder and see if you can begin to determine the important categories of your life. In my program, I call these pillars but for the sake of keeping it simple - we will call them categories.

[05:39] Example: Inside the keep folder - create a subfolder and call it Kids. See - what you are actually doing here - is STARTING.

[11:24] Inside that one kid folder, start to break down the different areas of their life. It could be as simple as baby, sports, school, or as detailed as year, age, etc.

[10:38] Starting with just one area of your life, or in this case, one kid - how you set up this labeling system inside your filing structure - will be the model or foundation for all the other folders you create from here on out.

[11:15] Back it up! I don’t care what you use as long as it’s cloud-based.

23 Feb 2023019: Looking at the Bigger Picture with Shelley Levy00:18:56

Do you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur but are not quite sure where to start? Most of you have more than enough talent and resources to build your business, but what holds you up, is where and how to begin.

In this episode, Shelley Levy takes the seat in our client spotlight. Shelley is an artist who had an amazing journey painting her path to success. As a dear friend and client, Shelley and I worked together to cast a wider and bigger vision. As someone who was teaching art, both privately and in groups, I showed her how she could scale that knowledge.

The truth, as a team of one, her earning capacity has a ceiling on it. But in our strategy sessions, I helped her reframe her mindset to see what is possible. Because she was open and ready to grow, in a very short amount of time, we built a new framework for her website, outlined several digital courses that will be launched very soon, crafted a new marketing strategy, and most importantly, elevated her confidence to go bigger.

You will hear Shelley as she shares her story and how she used her artistic background to create multiple streams of income. She also talks about how I helped and motivated her to put together a business that showcases not only her talent but her ability to serve and teach others.

Episode Highlights

[03:35] I did loads and loads of murals then I transitioned into being an oil painter, which is my love, that and pencil drawing. Alongside that, having shows and being fortunate to be commissioned a lot, one of my great passions is teaching.

[04:44] I wasn’t quite sure how working with you would work for me. It was a little bit of a commitment for me to say Yes Susan I’m going to do your program and work with you. I’m apprehensive about how would it work out.

[06:37] Somebody such as yourself is such a motivator in a really incredibly gentle way. You pulled the whole thing together for me. With your guidance, we’ve got so much done.

[12:10] It’s not really so much about marketing. It’s storytelling. It’s how you’re going to be the narrator of your story to attract the right audience, the right buyers.

[15:10] – You weren’t one of those people that tells me to do this because I think it will be good for you. You’re like I’m looking at your big picture and I want you to have a way bigger picture than you ever thought you could.

02 Mar 2023020: Are You Paying Attention?00:14:37

Not sure how to start a business? The reality is, your next thing is most likely right in front of you.

If you are the person who all your people come to for specific advice, I would ask you to pay attention to that.

There are no accidents. Sometimes you might not feel as though you are on the right path or that the knowledge you are gaining is pointless. Nothing could be further from the truth. When I started my food blog back in 2008, I had no idea that all that curiosity, learning, and testing would lead to helping so many creatives and entrepreneurs build their digital media empires.

Discovering what I needed to learn so that I could be a successful storyteller, has been pivotal in me showing others how to do the same.

In this episode, I will show you, the individual how you can build a business from scratch using some of my tips to build your own recipe for success.

You will learn that it’s not just about identifying your product or service, but it’s also important to create a strategy to implement it, the systems to execute it, and the structure to build it.

Show Highlights

[02:47] I started a food blog. Not because I wanted to be a food blogger. I was actually looking for a way to automate how I delivered my recipes to those in my sphere who were asking me to share what I had.

[03:59] I became an accidental digital marketer, and the more I learned, the more curious I became about the digital landscape.

[07:27] So today's episode is about how you, the individual, can build a business from scratch and develop your own recipe or formula for how you're gonna get there.

[10:26] If you're ready to take your temperature, I have the same performance review that I use and my people use it in an easily downloadable PDF for you. It's free and I do believe it will make you see what you're doing and help you focus on all those pretty incredible things.

09 Mar 2023021: How to discover your inner writer with Zafira Rajan00:45:04

Have you lost your writing voice? Do you struggle with telling your story, sharing your narrative, or explaining what you do and who you help?

Developing your core message at any age is difficult, let alone in your 50s, but I can tell you this when you are tapped into your purpose and your promise, this storytelling gets a little bit easier.

In this episode, Zafira Rajan helps you get back your writing voice and outlines how you can define your message using a few, simple tips. She’s a branding strategist and copywriting guru.

As a personality-driven copywriter, she envisions unblocking her clients' creativity and helping them find their voice through their writing. And sprinkling the quirky stuff about yourself, the stuff only your BFFs know will be pivotal in attracting your ideal people.

By the end of this interview, you will learn how to unblock your voice, start a writing ritual, and reclaim your creativity.

Show Highlights:

[9:01] I tried everything. I tried social media marketing, blogging, emails, and graphic design to bring copy and visuals together powerfully. Slowly over the years, I niched down to what I do now, which is personality-driven copywriting.

[16:41] I really want to create this extensive ease and flow and beyond that, we talk about personality-driven copy that is always been my specialty, something I incurred, infuse the weird, infuse the quirks, the little part of you that you don’t think is so relevant but I think offers a point of connection to your audience.

[21:41] There are things happening in your life all the time that you just never know whether people will find interesting or not. That's like the email I find sometimes could almost be a little like reality TV but digital.

[25:10] The point of doing free writing exercises is just not to edit as you write. Just process without judgment and revisit it later. Because the other big mistake I know people make is editing as they go and they got stuck in this perfectionism spiral.

[32:30] I'm a manifester and energetically I go through periods you know just thoughts of creativity and action, doing, doing, doing and I like to need big cycles of rest to recharge.

30 Mar 2023023: Finding Your Super Niche with Andrea Daniels00:24:46

Tapping into your niche is one thing, owning it is another.

Having the confidence to ask for help is not easy for most people. But when my client, Andrea Daniels, founder of Brightside Referrals, reached out she knew she wanted more but wasn’t quite sure what that more was.

In today’s episode, you will hear how she and I collaborated in a creative way to take her business to the next level. She shares how one of her biggest takeaways was how I offered her a more macro view of what is possible. Living in the day-to-day life, work, and the obstacles that come along with it, kept her a bit small and she was excited to change that perspective.

If you are part of the sandwich generation or starting to explore the possibility of placing one of your loved ones in a senior care facility, Andrea explains some key points when considering the what and the where. She also tells you what to ask yourself when walking down this path.

Show Highlights:

[8:38] How to handle not loving marketing on social media.

[11:53] How investing in Susan instilled confidence in Andrea.

[15:22] Learning to plan out the goals in a systematized way by going from large to small and being able to use those tools over and over again.

[16:37] What not to at the beginning of building your business.

16 Mar 2023022: How to Finish What You Start00:20:07

Let’s get real for a second.

You will never, ever, ever be done.

As an entrepreneur, there will always be something to do. The question is, how do you be okay with that and what do you need to do in order to continue moving forward?

In this episode of Get Your Shit Together, I am sharing 5 tips on how you can execute and attack your to-do list, realize your goals, and at the same time eliminate distractions.

By the end of this episode, you will better understand how to recognize your small wins as progress and use that as the vehicle to keep you moving in the right direction. In addition, I give you a few tips on how to temporarily eliminate what’s holding you back, prioritize what’s important now, and outline your life pie.

There is no one magic pill to success. Nor is there one system that works for all. Uncovering parts of many ways to do the thing you are trying to do will ultimately help you develop your own special formula. I have a feeling that these tips will inspire you to find your own creative path while showing you that you are worthy of more and that giving up is not an option.

Show Highlights:

[3:01] Instead of looking at all that negative stuff, try looking at the other side. I am not embarrassed to admit that I often miss the mark in getting to those monthly milestones, thus my quarterly goals.

[6:20] Your progress, your accomplishments, and your wins cannot always be seen or measured by your never-ending, obnoxious to-do lists. Those lists are simply there as reminders that you have lots of shit to do.

[7:03] Small actionable steps are where it is at. It’s not always about completion - although that feels amazing - it’s more about action.

[15:03] The expectations that you put on yourself can leave your tank empty. I don’t want that for you. I want your tank to always be full. And one of the ways that I have been able to maintain that is by being able to see what I have accomplished and how I got there.

06 Apr 2023024: Life Beyond Ambition00:16:03

Women in their 50s are coming to terms with their mortality, and their legacy, and thinking about “what do I want to be when I grow up?”

So many of you have made decisions that didn’t always put you first. And because of that, you are redefining life as you knew it.

And because of that, you are finding yourself a bit stuck, maybe a little lost, and questioning if is there Life Beyond Ambition.

If you are at a crossroads and struggling with your life’s purpose, this episode is for you.

I will be sharing with you how to identify your inner voice, share what you already know, and how you can monetize your mission.

Being a part of this exclusive club, what I like to call “the what’s next generation,” is a special place to be. You have raised the kids and have prioritized everyone around you and it’s time to set everyone free…including yourself.

Show Highlights:

[04:47] What you did prior matters. Even if that meant heading up the school fundraiser, organizing and driving on field trips, or starting a “board” dedicated to raising funds, and making your kid's football experience in high school a better one.

[6:41] I was able to use the skills that I often take for granted; photography, writing, cooking, meal planning, meal prepping, and networking, and morph them into a community.

[9:30] If there were absolutely no limits - and you could do and be anyone or anything - what would that be and why? I ask you this because sometimes you deserve to simply dream the dream.

[10:49] Let’s make a pact right here, right now - no regrets ladies. Now is the prime time to do the thing. There is one thing we have in our favor that our 20, 30, and even 40-year-old selves didn’t have.

13 Apr 2023025: Why 55 is the perfect age to learn something new with Stacy Valner00:44:01

It takes curiosity, fearlessness, and tenacity to learn something new.

At age 55, Stacy Valner is doing that and so much more.

Stacy is my guest today; an entrepreneur, wife, mother of four, founder of PHASE ONE, and now CEO behind the luxury brand, Meadow

Over the past 20+ years, her non-profit, Phase One, has raised millions of dollars for cancer research. However, when her 4th child left for college, she got a little antsy. Although she continues on her mission to save lives, as an empty nester, she was craving something that felt a bit more feminine, creative, and pretty.

But she wasn’t quite sure what that next thing was.

Then the pandemic happened. As someone who has always traveled, she was missing the luxuries that only a hotel room can bring and because of that, she embarked on launching a luxury brand from scratch.

Her idea was to create a line of products that would embody everything one would find in a luxurious hotel room. She wanted everyone to experience that same feeling at home that one feels while traveling.

And in building out her brand she not only learned about trial and error but also learned about resilience. She also learned to lean into her curiosity and that it’s okay to fail. That’s where the biggest growth happened.

Show Highlights:

[12:49] As a recent empty nester it was important that felt feminine and pretty and creative.

[19:31] The best part about building a business is seeing your tenacity, seeing how you're constantly putting a square peg in a round hole, and then when you finally get that square peg in a square hole, it's like this aha moment, you know, so you know you live and you learn.

[21:56] I ultimately went with the company where I could load my percentages, and I could combine the fragrances that felt right to me.

[22:56]  It was really more about you wanting to create a feeling and an experience, which I love, which I think is really, in my opinion, the key to success.

[24:42] As a mom and a wife and someone whose last child finally went away to college and I became an empty nester. It was really important to me to maintain a sense of independence.

[31:23] Talk to everybody and get as much information as you can.

22 Apr 2023026: Be Your Own North Star: Trusting Yourself First00:19:00

As a woman who is part of the what’s next generation and seeking life beyond ambition, starting over or starting something new is never easy.

It takes time, patience, and most importantly, the willingness to do it.

Being bold and having the confidence to say I am going to launch the business, the product, or the service is the first step. Building and executing it is a whole different set of challenges.

And because of that, most of these highly creative, educated, and industrious women are putting their trust in others to carry out their dreams.

In this week’s episode of Get Your Shit Together, I am sharing with you the importance of tapping into your gut so that you can trust yourself before trusting others.

Learning to do the “thing” which can be as simple as logging into your website or setting up your email address, will help you be less vulnerable and more independent as you move through your entrepreneurial journey.

By the end of this episode, you will understand that there are no shortcuts and how to walk before you run.

04 May 2023027: Sisterhood and Inspiration: Learning from One Another00:36:28

Thinking about reinventing oneself after 50 is one thing. Taking action with gusto and determination is another.

My client, Heather Hartt did just that!

She began her career as a copywriter in advertising, over 40 years ago. Soon after she went on to become a reporter and Associate International Editor for The Hollywood Reporter, and later became the host of E Entertainment Television.

Struggling with what to do next (while raising her kids and taking care of her family), she circled back to her passion for the written word and it was actually her kids that inspired her next career.

In this week’s episode, Heather talks about the evolution of being a published children’s book author and how when she found herself at a crossroads, she found me. At the time that we met, her only goal was to find a new agent but I knew, after our first strategy session that there was way more to uncover.

Heather shares with you how taking the time, and making the investment in hiring a coach, actually shifted into being a huge investment in herself.

Because of that, today, Heather is not just a published children’s book author, but she now offers private coaching sessions, has a monthly writing cohort with a group of young authors, and is about launch her digital course, “How to write your first picture book.”

Highlights

4:11 | How having a coach helped inspired her to build out the plan and strategy in order to have the systems in place to get things done.

7:16 | When picking a coach, pick someone who is as passionate about what you are creating as you are.

8:22 | Building a 1-year strategy plan is the difference between success and failure.

9:08 | Practicing patience is one key ingredient, but being ready (and hungry) to work is the second ingredient.

10:15 | How to use LinkedIn and what to do and not to do when it comes to the banner image.

13:28 | Tips for picture book writers who have ideas in mind.

  • Keep it simple
  • Don't talk down to your audience (kids)
  • Storytelling is about proving the thought

16:57 | As a service provider there is incredible value in over-delivering to your clients. Being generous with your information goes a long way.

21:15 | Being a good coach is all about learning to help others solve their problems.

25:52 | Get rid of the “JUST”! Managing people and being a woman, a mom, requires a lot of effort and skills. It’s about self-reflection.

27:54 | Community is key to your success, especially on those days when you lose your momentum. They are there to lift you up even when you don’t have any gas in the tank.

11 May 2023028: From Merch to Mini-Courses: A Marketing Strategy Shift00:19:47

You're convinced that your offer, product, or services are the end all be all, but for some reason, no one is buying what you are selling.

Just know, you are not alone.

How you convey your messaging will be the difference between building a 5-figure business and a 7-figure company.

As a solopreneur and one-woman show, uncovering that secret sauce can be challenging. And in my experience doesn’t start to happen and come alive until you commit to investing in yourself, thus hiring a coach, mentor, and support staff to help you get there.

But that investment can be a scary and daunting one. If you are not quite there yet, today’s episode offers 5 tips on how to reframe your messaging and repurpose it so it can be used and reused in many different ways.

Telling your own story, building a business, and identifying your brand's core values requires a lot of heavy lifting. If you can just start with the 5 tips shared in this podcast, I promise you, you will be ahead of the pack!

4:22 | Shifting from Scarcity Mindset to Abundant Mindset

5:52 | Creating your Ah-ha! Moment

8:58 | Move the Merch: repurposing your message

9:39 | From a pile of merch to a series of mini-courses

10:27 | Creating Standard Operating Procedure

11:03 | 5 steps that can help you start moving into action and do some work on your own

  1. Value proposition: Communicate who you are and how you help others in one sentence.
  2. Hook: Engage visitors further with a compelling statement that positions you as the solution to their needs.
  3. Symptoms: Tap into their emotions by addressing their pain points and showing understanding.

18 May 2023029: From Trauma to Triumph: How One Attorney Pivoted Toward a More Fulfilling Life and Career00:28:56

In my community, the topic of “self-love” comes up a lot.

As women of what I like to call the “what’s next generation,” who crave life beyond ambition, struggle to feel worthy and deserving of this. These feelings of not being enough didn’t just pop up out of nowhere.

They have been buried for a long time. Due to certain life circumstances; empty nesting, change in relationship status(divorce/death), and or examining one’s legacy and the “what’s my purpose” question - women our age are in a state of rediscovering who they are.

In this week’s episode, I talk to Gina Leago, an x-trial lawyer, turned spiritual psychologist, who shares her story of trauma, resilience, and the importance of self-love. She dives deep into examining our triggers, and identifying them so everyone has a chance to move toward healing and growth.

As moms, daughters, sisters, and strong women, it’s easy to lose our voice. Serving others, especially those that we love, takes center stage. Thus, our stuff gets pushed so far down into the depths of our belly, that digging ourselves out of it - cannot be done alone.

Gina offers a few tips on how and where to start and I am confident you will be inspired.

Highlights

3:03|How a traumatic experience of a sibling’s death from AIDS led to her heart closure and robotic behavior.

9:48|Shift your perspective to a positive belief to change your reality.

13:47|Changing how society views substance abuse disorder and how being vulnerable creates healing.

16:00|Healing is an ongoing process and learning to look at your life in a spiritual context.

25 May 2023030: Success with LinkedIn: Monetizing Your Expertise & Ideas00:16:43

In a recent Shopify survey of 1532 parents (62% = mothers), one in six indicated that they are very interested in entrepreneurship.

That’s a lot of women running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. A.K.A. not knowing how or where to start.

If I was in a room with them, I would encourage each and every one of them to start by using free resources like LinkedIn.

In this episode of Get Your Shit Together, I share the value of LinkedIn and why it’s not just a place for professionals. I also share a success story of a client who updated her LinkedIn profile and received two paid consulting gigs within 48 hours. This transformation proves the value of the platform.

LinkedIn is not just a place to share your resume. It’s also a place to virtually network, highlight your backstory, upload your offers, programs, and services, and get your people to “recommend” you which is no different than a testimonial or case study on one’s website.

If you are just starting out or pivoting from here to there, you don’t need a big, fancy website. Wanting that can hold you back and right now, as you are trying to fit a square peg in a square hole, I suggest your practice a little progress over perfection and simply start the damn thing!

Highlights:

  • The rise in entrepreneurship amongst women - especially moms
  • Your timeline banner is your Superbowl commercial
  • The best $150 bucks I have spent in my 14-year entrepreneurial journey
  • You don’t need a daddy Warbucks to bankroll your next idea

01 Jun 2023031: From Showbiz to Photography: Finding Your Personal Image00:35:36

With more and more women gliding into entrepreneurship, the need to share your personal persona all over the world wide web is becoming the norm.

None of the people I know likes this part of the game. But, with the need for speed, you gotta just surrender to the process.

And no one knows this better than my client and friend, Sheryl Wachtel, lifestyle photographer, and storyteller.

Sheryl’s road to discovery was not a straight line. What started out as the “mom” who took the kid's pictures in the preschool classroom, led her to shoot families and huge Hollywood events. Currently, included in all of the above, she is overbooked, shooting social media influencers and online moguls.

She shares her story and so much more on this week's episode of the Power Of The Pivot podcast. The pandemic forced her to rethink how she was going to do business and around the same time she found me.

Sheryl has learned in these past two years that when you are passionate about something and still love it after all these years, you have to find ways to keep it fresh. And she’s doing just that

Join us as we chat about being 50+ and leaning into your thing, community, combatting loneliness, and how someone like you can improve your brand’s image.

During out chat we discussed:

4:25|Helping people to feel good about themselves through the pictures as a photographer

6:09|Honing your niche further with the help of the right people around you

11:27|Joining a group with similar activities to connect and reevaluate your skills and discover what to improve more for personal and professional growth

14:34|Some tips from Sheryl for somebody who is rebranding and wants photos before hiring a photographer

24:22|Figuring out your hidden talents, a place to hone your personal statement

29:04|Having imposter syndrome, everyone can have this moment. You are not alone. You can do it.

08 Jun 2023032: Why it's Important to be Flexible and Prioritize Yourself00:16:55

I was conversing the other day with a client and she asked me if she was the only one whose emotions waffled as much as hers.

And the answer was NO.

None of us are robots, even though the chatter and obsession around AI might be telling us differently.

You’re human and your emotions will fluctuate from day to day if not from hour to hour.

In my groups, we call those down times “being under the covers.” Which gives everyone permission to feel the way they need to feel at that exact moment.

In this week’s episode of the Power of the Pivot podcast, I not only talk about those ups and downs but also get into why now is a good time to reevaluate your intentions.

There’s always a lot of pressure surrounding those first-of-the-year aspirations or goals. Yet, you and I both know that 9 times out of 10, those ideas or dreams fall flat.

The reason why they do is because they are just words or ideas on a page. They lack a plan and or a strategy for achieving them.

I am here to tell you that the odyssey to building that roadmap can happen at any time. It’s not limited to January 1.

Over the next 6 months, there’s so much that you can accomplish, first name.

But in order to do that, it requires a simple plan and a strategy to execute it. If you are ready to stop talking and start doing, tune in. I know you will find this very short episode both valuable and helpful.

Episode Highlights:

1:04|June is the end of Q2, a  great time to reflect, reevaluate and reprioritize what is important and what is no longer serving you.

3:40|A client’s ah-ha moment and working together impacted that.

5:04|5 tips to help you reevaluate what you originally set out to do, realign with what still rings true, and reclaim what you want to focus on going forward

10:53|You’re not a robot. You’re human. Allowing space to embrace that.

11:26|Q3 starts on July 1 and it’s a good time to re-evaluate and realign.

11:41|Take your dreams and go from to-do to done using my proven step-by-step framework; What’s Next Roadmap.

15 Jun 2023033: Permission to Not Be Perfect: Building a Structured Support System00:38:13

As we approach the end of the second quarter,  it's hard to ignore the challenges we've faced in the past year. However, we've also made significant progress and it's time to prioritize what's next.

In this week’s episode of "The Power of the Pivot," The Entrepreneurial Think Tank comes together to discuss the importance of collaboration, finding community, and learning to trust our own instincts.

Finding confidence, especially at our age can be a struggle. We all agree that finding it is one thing. Holding onto it is another.

And because women our age continue to be the pillars of strength for pretty much everyone around us, focusing on ourselves comes with a mixed bag of emotions; guilt, shame, and resentment - to just name a few.

For the past 2.5+ years, we have been coming together as a group (weekly via Zoom) to guide one another, support both our failures and our success, and spend quality time talking about everything we call life.

During the episode, we discussed:

3:46| Finding the passion and motivation after joining the group

10:19| When you finally find the hook, it feeds itself in a good way

13:05| How this community helps build real confidence.

16:41| From having no community to a thriving community of 1000

26:29| Why The What’s Next Roadmap keeps the students focused on completing tasks.

23 Jun 2023034: Five Stages to Success: Defining, Creating, Scaling, Habits, Automating00:19:04

Have you ever thought about the “cost” of doing business, first name?

The financial, physical, and mental cost of it all?

After reading that 90% of new businesses fail and 10% of those fail within the first year and 45% of them within the first 2 years, I started asking myself, why?

So many reasons factor into this equation.  Burning through money, lack of research, bad partnerships, ineffective marketing, and not being an expert in their niche.

With entrepreneurship among women, specifically, women like us on the rise - That’s a lot of people giving up.

In this week's episode of The Power of the Pivot, I share my perspective on the five stages of building a business and how those stages can help you keep going even when you feel like giving up.

As an artisan, creative, and visionary shiny object syndrome can distract you and take you off course on the road to your dreams. A lack of a clear vision, plan, strategy, and systems can also lead to failure. If you are currently in this head space, this episode will help you move past it.

Episode Highlights

0:39|Shifting your plan a bit and allowing yourself to be curious and flexible

1:21|Asking the Why’s, coming up with a plan, implement to test it, and creating a solid strategy

2:04|Not knowing enough or being curious enough to ask questions leads to the failure of new businesses.

4:08|Walk through the Five Stages of business building: defining, creating, scaling, habits, and automating

8:15|Pick just a few places to plant your flag in the sand, figure out the modalities where you can share your goods

12:29|Automate is a great resource that will help you develop some systems around those recurring tasks that occur on repeat.

29 Jun 2023035: Finding Your Unique Selling Proposition: Secrets to Standing Out in a Saturated Market00:33:45

Would you categorize yourself as a member of the “Sandwich Generation?”

Someone over 50, stuck in between your grown or launched children and your aging parents?

If you are, organizing multiple areas of your life can get complicated. Not to mention those tough conversations, between you and your parents, about their state of affairs.

In this week’s spotlight episode of The Power Of The Pivot, I chatted with Mary Williams about how she found her super niche in the crowded real estate industry.

When she first pivoted into her new career (at the beginning of the pandemic), one of the first questions I asked her was, “How are you going to stand out?” And “What is going to make you different from the rest?”

It wasn’t until she was faced with navigating the probate process with her own parent’s estate that she realized that the lessons she learned could help so many others.

06 Jul 2023036: Lessons Learned-Pre Google + Social Media00:22:36

Did you know that the average attention span of someone around the age of 50 is about 8.25 seconds?

That's 4.25 seconds less than what it was in the year 2000.FYI - a goldfish has a 9-second attention span - that's .75 seconds longer than ours!

With data like that, no wonder it's becoming more and more difficult to attract your customers and community online.

As we all move further and further away from an analog world and into a hyper-elevated digital world, it's more critical than ever before to craft your messaging in a way that speaks directly to who it is meant for.

And with an average attention span of 8.25 seconds, that first impression - the one someone sees when they land on your website or discover in your social media profiles - is the most critical one.

In this week's episode of The Power Of the Pivot, I lay out the blueprint for crafting your customer roadmap so you can better lead and guide your people to the final destination. Whether that destination is a physical product, a program, a service, or a free offer, it's up to you to tell them exactly where to go. And what can make or break your customer's buying decision are the touchpoints along the way.

Episode Highlights

2:18 | Remove the “I” and “Me” from the equation and focus on “You and Them.”

5:14 | Create a customer journey map, take control of every touch point, and don’t leave it up to chance.

7:27 | From the first touch point with a customer, it turned into a thousand touch points and a bond and friendship that is unbreakable.

8:37 | People want to be led and be told what to do and how to do it. Guide them through the process, that is the customer journey.

10:27 | 5 tips to help you tune up your business and start to think about what you want your customer to feel, hear, and see.

16:08 | Try, try, try, and try again. This is constantly going to be about figuring it out. Keep testing and just because one thing doesn't work, doesn't mean the whole thing won't work.

19:13 | X marks the spot, that's where you start. Lead them to your treasure chest that holds the riches of your expertise, your knowledge, and your talents.

13 Jul 2023037: Keeping it Real with Deanna Fenton00:53:57

Are you currently experiencing information overload?

I know I am.

With Instagram feeling more and more like a bunch of late-night infomercials and with the newly launched platform, Thread, are you struggling to keep up?

It's becoming harder and harder to discern who to trust and what information to take at face value.

That's exactly what Deanna Fenton ( a seasoned entrepreneur with a passion for problem-solving) and I discuss in this week's episode of The Power Of The Pivot Podcast.

Deanna started her career in Silicon Valley, gaining valuable experience working for online startups. She has seen so much change (and not all for the better) over 20+ years in this industry. Between Covid and social media, the space has become saturated with individuals claiming to be experts in solving problems without the necessary qualifications.

This is a real bummer for people like you who do have a lot to say and valid value to share.

So the question then becomes, how do you navigate the challenges of building an authentic online presence to be seen, heard, and trusted?

By empowering people and helping them grow their businesses,  particularly, through community, and being a trusted resource who will suggest a more efficient and practical way to go from point A to point B.

Highlights

5:41 | The importance of being the voice of the customer in the tech world

11:41 | How the impact of Covid has influenced Online Education and not for the better

14:03 | The dangers of outsourcing digital strategies and what to look for to avoid being conned.

20:21 | Biggest misconception or misunderstanding about the conversion rates in this business.

24:21 | The first step in building an online business is to build your base and community first.

31:33 | Why Kajabi is the smartest online platform out there.

37:47 | Social media is a goldmine of ideas and people with problems. Be a detective, get to the real problems. Hone in on a specific problem and solve them because people pay for a solution to a problem.

42:17 | Audiences at different stages of the customer journey. Not everybody is ready to buy today. Understand those stages and meet your audiences where they are.

20 Jul 2023038: Achieving Clarity in a Digital World and How to Simplify Your Tech Stack00:22:18

It's never an easy decision to create change.

If you think you're alone - you are not.

Not sure if it's an age thing or a confidence thing, or it's just the sign of the times. But the possibility of building something from nothing is far more doable today than ever before.

Back in the day, one needed a 200-page business plan which had to include data, numbers, graphs, and pie charts.

I know this because when I was approached to scale my global lifestyle brand, the women who approached me were way more corporate. I can still see the spiral bound booklet, title and all, with how they thought they could take my business to the next level.

Today, with access to social media, experts who say they can help you with whatever it is you might need help with, and with the influx of online digital tools, platforms, and apps, it's easier today than ever before to create something.

But the truth is - it's not easy. Instead, it's confusing.

In this week's episode of Get Your Shit Together, I am sharing 5 digital tools that will help you eliminate the overwhelm and the white noise that can take you off course. The best part about all of them, they are FREE!

So, if you are just starting out or are ready to take your ideas to the next level, the FREE stuff is where it's at. And it will help and serve you until you feel comfortable upgrading to some of the paid options.

Episode Highlights

3:05|According to statistics, the average person receives 75 gigabytes of information per day, equivalent to about 32 hours of content clouding your brain and about 12 to 14 feature films.

4:40 |Shiny Object Syndrome is a dangerous place to be. And unfortunately, social media is really good at seducing you into feeling like you're not enough, you need more.

7:56 |If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If the current tool used works well for you, don't get sucked in or seduced by the latest and greatest

9:55 |Establish your ultimate destination, the endgame, so that you can chart out the milestone or the step-by-step actions along the way.

12:35 |Your email list is your real estate, it is your biggest asset.

15:27 |My motto is to never stop dreaming. That's where the magic comes from.

17:46 |Create your systems, and know how to manage your platforms whether it's a website, your social media feed, or an email service provider.

18:18 |Know in your heart and in your gut what it is you truly want, decide what is going to be your treasure chest full of your goodness at the end of your customer journey map.

03 Aug 2023039: Rewriting the Narrative: Empowering Women in the Aging Process with Lori Kleiman00:43:38

Have you ever really taken the time to look back on your life without regret, with appreciation, and with deep and meaningful love for yourself?

It's not an easy task, especially for most of you that have spent your entire life, taking care of others.

As women who are in their 50s and 60s, it can be challenging to say to yourself, "I am important" and sometimes the only way to do that is to tell everyone around you (even though you love and adore them), to go F themselves.

My guest this week, Lori Kleiman, didn't tell her people to go take a hike, but instead took some time to embrace the value of alignment and living a life that is consistent with what truly matters.

And what truly matters to her are her children and grandchildren, family rituals, and being a qualified expert who can genuinely help others.

Lori is a minimalist and certified professional coach who is a huge supporter of the pro-aging movement. More importantly, she is the perfect role model, showing others that you can do hard and bold things - even in your 60s.

However, her path to here was not a straight line. In her mid 50's she was questioning everything and knew that there was a better way to glide into this next phase of her life.

This week's episode explores the significance of seeking help from professional coaches to gain perspective and excel in all the layers of one's life. Including making money, living purposefully, achieving work-life balance, and navigating career journeys

Here are a few takeaways:
📍why coaches need coaches
📍how family and weekly traditions keep one balanced
📍framing work in a way that supports being of service to others
📍going back to your roots and tapping into your purpose - at any age

Highlights

  • The What’s Next Roadmap was the guiding light to hone Lori’s clarity instead of looking at the shiny objects around her and start focusing on how to build her business.
  • How our clients are the perfect mirror for us to become the expert they deserve.
  • A coach needs a coach, a thought leader, and a partner to work things through.
  • The 360 Review is the perfect performance review for solopreneurs and creatives. It is a reflective exercise done every year to reflect on the accomplishments and failures over the year.

10 Aug 2023040: Age Is Just A Number: Manifesting Dreams and Seizing Unexpected Opportunities00:18:36

You know what pisses me off?

When conversing with someone, and they tell me that I am "overqualified," why is no one inviting me to sit at their table?

And if you have been in situations like that yourself, it's no wonder that women our age feel invisible, valueless, and hopeless.

Well, I am here to tell you to shut that noise down because at 62 F'n years old, I have landed the opportunity of a lifetime!

And you know what? If I can manifest this, so can you.

In this week's episode, I am getting raw and vulnerable on how this all went down and, more importantly, what it feels like to dream big unapologetically.

The reason why I am sharing all of this with you is because I have been known to be a bit of a nay-sayer when it comes to words like "manifestation" and "be careful what you wish for." Instead, I look at getting shit done more practically, thus why I created the What's Next Roadmap planning system. Which has helped me prioritize both the small and the big stuff.

But this past March, I was away with 25 fabulous humans in a very remote part of Baja, and it was an exercise during the Spring Equinox with my friend and healer, Nicole, changed everything.

I share the entire story in this episode, and if you are currently thinking about your next stage and phase, I can guarantee that this episode will inspire you.

Episode Highlights

2:37|Women our age are often told we are overqualified for a job that makes us feel invisible, valueless, and even hopeless.

6:54|Using a planning system, I could break down my dreams, wishes, and desires, prioritize them into bite-sized actions, and focus on all six small actions each day, week, and month.

8:37|An exercise during the Spring Equinox encouraged me to write down what I wanted to manifest over the next year using the prompts: I am, and I choose

10:55|Being offered an opportunity of this magnitude is life-changing.

13:26|Validation only happens when one can take someone else to the places they deserve to be.

14:43|Write what you want, don't hold back. Make it personal to you because if you can do that, then everyone around you will benefit. Start a daily, weekly, and even monthly practice of writing down your desire.

17 Aug 2023041: Juggling Responsibilities: Career and Family in the Face of Mortality00:49:21

Since the beginning of time, women have not been given the credit they deserve when doing the most incredible job balancing family, child raising, career, being the number one caregiver, and cheerleader. All while placing ourselves on the sideline.

And when we do say "f this shit," it can be viewed as selfish or "narcissistic."

Actually, in my opinion, it's just the opposite.

It's time to put you first unapologetically. You've done your job. And a really good job at that - regardless of what your kids and partners have to say about it.

In this week's episode, I talk to Stephanie Hunt, the mastermind behind the brand and design firm, Flare Hunter about family, sacrifice, loss, and raising a son who took her on a journey she never saw coming.

While on that journey she had to do a lot of soul-searching to find the balance. What she ended up finding were opportunities to see the world, and experience new cultures, which all inspired her creativity and her career. Balancing travel and personal life required adaptability and finding a sense of grounding amidst constant change.

And that, my friend, is why Stephanie is the dynamic change agent that she is today.

Highlights

4:29| Marriage, traditional family, interior design, career pivot, passionate about office design

13:04| Making enormous sacrifices for family, finding balance.

24:04| Burnout is unavoidable, especially when you are constantly serving others and ignoring yourself

26:19| Becoming the expert and stepping into fashion collaborations, including socks.

30:12| How the loss of a parent can change the perception of age and one’s mortality.

36:31| The benefits of mentoring young designers and the number one advice is to embrace creativity and ignore the noise.

37:51|Learn from people who know more than you do even if it is not your style and doesn’t look exactly like you because your look, tastes, and preferences evolve.

24 Aug 2023042: Fu%k You Cancer: Finding Motivation in the Face of Adversity00:13:59

When did life become so hard?

As a little girl, fantasized about what my life would be like one day, never would I have imagined a world where there was so much hate (I am sure you have read about the woman in Lake Arrowhead who displayed a pride flag - simply to support ALL people, only to be shot and killed by some fucking lunatic), a deeply ignorant and divided country, or that disease and illness would be plaguing so many.

And the disease I am specifically talking about is Cancer.

This week's episode of the podcast was an impromptu conversation with myself inspired by a text from a good friend.

I was minding my own business when she texted me about her 29-year-old son who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer.

WTF...he's 29!

During our 45-minute text conversation, she confessed to not being able to eat or sleep. Understandably so!

And that got me thinking more about self-care and how women like you and I put ourselves, our well-being, and our health aside to care for everyone around us.

It's selfless and brave and the more I marinated this, the more I embraced the importance of those simple daily rituals that I try and practice every morning.

In this week’s episode, I am sharing how I got through my cancer diagnosis, why believing in the power of connecting your heart, mind, and soul can be the answer to positivity, and why I don’t want you to wait for something tragic to happen in order for you to pursue your dreams.

31 Aug 2023043: From Intuition to Empowerment: Tapping into the Universal Heart with Nicole Hoegl00:42:39

In this episode, you will meet Nicole Hoegl, an intuitive, healer, DEI expert, and an all-around amazing human whose main goal is to continue to grow and help others do the same.

Over the years, Nicole has taught me to lean into my intuitive side and to embrace that I am enough. Her non-judgemental and effortless vibe will put you at ease simply by the sound of her voice. It's soothing, comforting, and most of all - honest.

I have spent many hours on her healing table and her magical gifts have helped me even when I didn't believe I could be helped.

She shares her Astrological teachings in a way that is easy to digest. In this episode, she breaks down why this year, the Spring Equinox, is a powerful one and how setting one's intentions can be life-changing. It was for me, but I wasn't aware of how powerful it was until I first did the follow-up and then went back and read what some of my intentions were.

Although that list was long, pretty much everything I wrote and set out to change and do is coming to fruition. I read a few to you in this episode. Whether you are a believer or not, I am confident that my interview with Nicole will inspire you.

09 Sep 2023044: Retirement? Not So Fast! Baby Boomers Capitalizing on New Opportunities00:15:58

The conversations around community, belonging, and connection have been a common theme lately.

Research shows that many baby boomers, 55 or older - about 50% did retire in 2021. Which was inspired by the pandemic. Believe it or not, today, they are making their way back to the workforce.

Another fun fact, half of the boomers in the workplace hold leadership positions. And because I am now one of them, I agree with some of the research that I have been reading. There is a tremendous need for our knowledge and our mentorship.

In this episode, I share some insights into how people our age are not slowing down anytime soon and why our demographic is the biggest untapped market out there. In addition, the sense of belonging and community is top of mind and because of that, I have a few ways we can all cultivate that.

Episode Highlights:
3:55|Baby boomers thriving in a digital world
5:03|Women who are my age are still on fire.
6:41|Sharing one's expertise and wisdom with a big dose of confidence
8:46|Finding the purpose and the why behind what the next 20 or 30 years might look like
9:12|Half the baby boomers in the workplace hold leadership positions
9:44|Coming together virtually, finding people we have in common with
10:13|How to rebuild and restore a sense of community after being physically apart
13:10|Find your people, surround yourself with people who are dreaming even bigger than you are

14 Sep 2023045: Navigating the Changing Online Space: Carla Besinger’s Transformative Pivot00:49:55

Putting a square peg in a round hole is way more common than you might think.

Taking your big idea and transforming it into something viable, like a book, digital course, PDF guide, or subscription model is no easy task.

Regardless of what the gurus on the internet might be preaching, don't believe a word they say. Especially those that are promising you that you will make 5 figures in a week if you just follow their formula.

And no one knows this better than my guest this week, Carla Besinger, a 7-figure online digital marketing genius who over the past 7 years has built courses, products, coaching programs and so much more.

Carla also talks about why she is possibly shelving her signature course - the one that has made her 3 million dollars (plus) and what the next few years will look like if she pulls the trigger on that.

If you are currently frustrated with the internet and how unkind it can sometimes feel, or are just starting out and not really sure where to start, this conversation with Carla will make you feel so much better. She keeps it real and not just by being her honest and kind self. Her delivery and candor will make you feel like a friend just validated all of your emotions. And you will no longer feel so alone.

Highlights:
7:24|Why being repetitive is key to growing your audience and your base
9:01| Why asking questions to your potential audience is what helps you, as the mentor, solve more problems
12:22|Focus on money-making tasks every day: mindset, growing audience, nurturing, making offers.
13:20|Consistently creating quality content is going to help you stand out
28:38 | Why volume isn’t always the best way to build an online business
31:53 |Coaches need coaches and why it ads perspective
34:05 |When you have the systems and processes in place you can get a lot done
41:54 |It’s not always easy, but you can learn anything

21 Sep 2023046: Dear Resume - You’re Dead To Me: How being pithy will help you stand out.00:34:41

When did you last update your resume?

If you are anything like me, you have multiple versions of the same thing buried in Google Drive. Because the resume is dead, it's time to find a new and improved way of showing others that your value deserves to be recognized. And that is challenging to do on a single sheet of paper.

This week on the podcast, I sit down with Julie Sandler-Sacks, who has made her career out of advertising, first as a copywriter and then as a recruiter. I asked her to wear both hats in our conversation, and I am confident you will like what you hear.

As a career professional and an entrepreneur, I know the value of telling your story while giving others a behind-the-scenes peak at how awesome you are. But that piece of paper gets me every time. It's a buzz kill! It never truly highlights your strengths, and at the end of the day, no one gets a sense of who you are by chronologically reading your accomplishments.

As a recruiter, Julie's perspective is on the money! When it came time for me to toss my hat in the ring for the position I ultimately captured, Julie said, "let's create a non-traditional resume for a non-traditional candidate.

And it worked!!

Highlights
5:08|How advertising has changed to become more sales-oriented
6:33|Why it’s important and encouraged to try different jobs
10:01|Generally, your resume doesn’t show much and what to do instead
12:07|Non-traditional way of writing your resume: be unique, creative, yet cautious
18:40|LinkedIn is a helpful place to find information and create connections
23:14|You can’t rely on your resume alone. Show them you want the job by being creative and persistent to show them you are a desirable candidate
26:16|When it comes to writing or rewriting your resume, the number one tip is to be pithy!

05 Oct 2023048: How Relationships Shape Our Well-Being with Joleen Porcaro Duddy: The importance of community in Aging00:47:09

Relationships and friendships are rooted in my emotional state. They can easily affect how I feel or don’t feel. And because so many of mine have stood the test of time, I take them very seriously.

It was both this article and my new position at OneTable that sparked this week's podcast episode. This quote, in particular, struck a chord with me:

"Countless studies in the last several decades have revealed information about longevity that may surprise you: Social connections don't just improve your life emotionally, but physically and psychologically as well."

There was no better person to have this conversation with than my long-time best friend, Joleen Porcaro Duddy. Joleen and I met at the beginning of middle school (over 50 years ago), and I honestly could not imagine a life without Joleen in it.

This week's episode discusses the value of connection, community, and being a good friend and confidant.

We get under the hood about family, loss, tragedy, and how seeing her mom living in an assisted living environment has inspired her to think about aging in a whole new way.

As someone who has always valued building a strong community centered around loyal friends, I am leaning more and more toward this as I settle into the aging process. When faced with a few health challenges, I got a bird's eye view of who my people were, and no one was more present than Joleen.

Highlights
5:42| The impact of community on aging
6:49 | How strong connections keep your life vibrant and alive
11:22 | It’s not just about building a business relationship, it’s more about building community with intention
19:25 | All friendships are not the same - each one has their meaning and purpose
18:45| The critical building block in a good company is trust
24:59| What tragedy and loss teach and how to move through life with a new normal
34:45| Strong relationships and bonds are built on honesty and finding ways to offer constructive criticism without putting someone on the defensive
41:07| The most outstanding example of friendship was witnessing the one with her mom and dad

26 Oct 2023051: Redefining Cannabis and Merging it with Jewish Humor: My Conversation with Tokin’ Jew00:51:23

As someone who prefers to smoke my buzz, I am not surprised by how mainstream it's becoming.

Although still very much an uncomfortable or taboo subject, I would say that 90% of those in my inner sphere eat some dose of edible, have a favorite strain of Indica or Sativa, or even grow it.

This week on the podcast, I sit down with the CEO of Tokin Jew, a full-fledged loud and proud stoner who has found a beautiful and humourous way to merge Judaism and Cannabis.

We get candid about the stigma surrounding Cannabis and how we see that changing. With the conversations getting louder and louder around micro-dosing and other mind-altering options, Cannabis is becoming a topic of choice.

Because of that, Tokin' Jew is not only creating an incredibly creative line of products developed from a Jewish perspective, but their Instagram feed is worthy of serious "laugh out loud" moments. For that reason, he is creating a community of like-minded, engaged humans. This movement has grown from a few thousand on Instagram to over 37k in just under a year.

From a business strategist POV, that's some pretty incredible metrics.

Whether you are into Cannabis or not, I feel you will enjoy this episode. You will learn how one straight-A, very driven college student and D1-national soccer star tapped into his creative and entrepreneurial side from his dorm room and not only landed a tremendous mainstream job but is also building an unconventional business at the same time.

Highlights:
5:05|How to not be one dimensional and merge passion and play to create community.
5:45|Overcoming adversity and finding your identity.
7:15|Creating Token Jew as a community of half-stoners and half-Jews who have found the intersection between cannabis and Judaism.
9:58|Being in the flux of the changing perception of cannabis from a taboo subject to a normalized one.
13:01|How lighting a joint and then lighting the menorah led the founder and his buddy to the 3D lab where the first product was born.
16:38|How to embrace being a straight-A student, a D1 Soccer star, and a stoner.
18:12|The birth of being an entrepreneur started at age 10 with a rolling list of ideas.
24:41|Parents and grandparents are coming out of the closet and admitting to embracing the cannabis trends and helping to normalize it.
25:15|The stigma around cannabis, a plant that grows out of the ground compared to other plants like carrots and asparagus.
27:07|The benefits of having a side project that unlocks a different part of their brain, making their day-to-day work more accessible and more enjoyable.
29:01|Judaism is the religion of curiosity.
30:29 |Learning when to shut down and who to shut out in order to avoid burnout.
31:34|Don’t share your idea with anybody yet, some people love to detract people.
33:30|Without the community, Tokin Jew would not be Tokin Jew.
34:23|Taking Tokin Jew to this beautiful, modern brand that is rooted in community.
40:29|Fall back on your instincts.
44:07|Using your intuition, finding a loyal person, remain super loyal to them.

30 Nov 2023052: Micah Siva’s Path to Monetizing Her Food Blog: Embracing Jewish Identity Through Food00:55:49

I have two sets of friends - those that cook and those that don't.

There is minimal grey area when it comes to what goes on in the kitchen.

I, as you know, love to be in the kitchen. I delegate many other things, but cooking is not one of them.

As a former food blogger, I am in awe of those in the food blogging community who found their way to massive monetization.

My guest this week, Micah Siva, has done just that - and so much more. And the best part about it is that she has only been at this game for about six years. Her passion, grit, and tenacious spirit have paid off, and being the Everready bunny that could - she has accomplished so much.

But what makes Micah genuinely unique is how specific her niche is. Her plant-based recipes are all inspired by modern Jewish culture, and I have to tell you - I cannot wait to get her book to make her meatless brisket. I know that doesn't make sense, but I am intrigued.

Micah and I talk about so much. We talk about food, recipe development, and how blogging has changed so much in recent years. But we also get into the current state of affairs.

And as Jewish women and moms(and mom-to-be), how passionate and proud we are to be Jews. Not only will this episode make you hungry, but with Hannukah right around the corner, you might be inspired to whip a batch of Sufganiyot (Israeli doughnuts).

Episode Highlights
05:48 | How to monetize one's creative outlet
06:12 | The power of perseverance and not allowing failure to stop you
08:30 | The power of networking and putting yourself out there - even when it's uncomfortable
12:31 | Diversifying income streams and exploring various avenues to maximize financial stability
15:55 | Embracing a specific niche to stand out in a crowded playing field
17:36 | Staying authentic to who you are will ultimately protect your mental health
24:56 | Doing a self-published Jewish children’s cookbook became an excellent way to connect with the community.
35:54 | Jews are the O.G.’s of dairy replacements and how creating vegan, Jewish recipes was not that challenging.

04 Jan 2024053: How one Word can Inspire your Vision for Success in 202400:32:15

Every December, I sit down with the women in my mastermind, and we pick our word for the following year.

Before we do that, we reflect back on the word of the previous year and see how it may have inspired our growth and creativity.

My words for 2023 were opportunity and expansion.

Some years, my word never manifests. The obstacles and challenges that I was faced with didn't leave any room to inspire anything because at every corner and turn, there was a roadblock.

But 2023 was different. I started the year determined and ready to create massive shifts. I was no longer going to allow the past failures to define me, and I came into it with a willingness to believe that change would manifest.

In March, I was invited to spend a week with 25 women, most of whom I didn't know. This happened to be the same time as the Spring Equinox. My friend, Nicole, an energy healer and spiritual guru was on that trip. Together, we did an exercise. I truly believe that exercise brought me to where I am today.

There is power in words. Both positive words and negative words and it's important to pay close attention to what you say and how you say it.

This week on the podcast, I didn't have one guest...I had 7. Seven powerful, creative, and brilliant ladies came together to discuss our words of the year. After producing 53 episodes, I have to say this is one of my top three. It represents that when you put a bunch of women in the room, it vibrates.

Here are a few takeaways:
📍Relationships are both learning and teaching moments
📍Persistence propels you to keep moving forward
📍Learning to leave behind what no longer serves you so that you create space for what will
📍Build it (with intention) and they will come
📍EHow future pacing gets you to your next destination

Episode Highlights:
2:03|Bringing everyone together in community
6:43|Relationships are both learning and teaching moments

11 Jan 2024054: How to Merge Technology and Genuine Connections00:34:24

The question is, can we as humans compete with technology? Especially AI.

One of my clients uses Chat GPT for everything. A friend of mine talks to Siri all day long. She uses it like you, and I may have used 411 to gather phone numbers and make dinner reservations.

I don't use AI to write my content. But I do use a tool that transcribes my podcast episodes. Because I am all about time management and productivity, it helps me find those identifiable moments that I want to highlight in my audiograms and the show notes.

In this week's episode of "The Power Of The Pivot," I am talking to Greg Wasserman, an AI expert. He and I talked about how AI when used properly, can elevate your productivity and give you the tools to repurpose your content most innovatively and efficiently. Taking your long-form content and breaking it down into smaller soundbites can save one hour of time creating social media posts, audiograms, LinkedIn newsletters, and so much more.

Episode Highlights:
4:46|Supporting others and connecting them by bringing their products together
5:19|Podcast is hosts who support each other in growing their audience
10:09|Streamlining your podcast production through Cast Magic
11:10|Automating long-form content into short-form content
14:00|Ai is here to assist and not meant to replace humans.
21:05|Why Ai will never replace relationships
27:07|The importance of community and leaning into discomfort to grow and innovate
28:09|Engage! Don’t just scroll and be a voyeur.

15 Jun 2021001: Behind Failure and Rejection with Laurey Bennett Levy00:44:41
Most of us are naturally wired to avoid loneliness and rejection - but we’re not actually doing ourselves a favor.

In fear of failure, we’re limiting how we express ourselves, even if we’re so talented in doing what we love.

Laurey Bennett-Levy, an Artist who has gone through a not-so-picture-perfect childhood and motherhood, has the perfect advice: Work hard and take risks.

In this podcast episode, you’ll learn more about Laurey and how her ups and downs made her the artist she is today.

Show Highlights

[3:30] Childhood plays a big part in shaping out who you can become, and it doesn’t always come through playdates and games.

[8:25] Sometimes you have to do things you hate, to realize what you really like and don’t like. Quitting doesn’t always equate to failing.

[9:00] Seeing hardships and feeling inferior to the people you’re surrounded with can still teach you important life lessons: the value of money and the feeling of contentment and gratitude.

[15:00] Even when you feel like you don’t fit in, that situation can ignite your purpose and jumpstart your success.

[21:45] It doesn’t matter if you’re incredibly talented or not, you will never fail if you work hard and get thick-skinned with rejection.

[23:00] You don’t have to become the “ideal” in your role. You will still wind up to who you are meant to be when you embrace your individuality and independence, knowing who you truly are at your core.

[28:45] Whether or not you learn it in school, it is important to fully express yourself through your passion. It’s one thing that will set you apart and doesn’t require skills.

[36:40] Find activities that make you happy and fire you up - then don’t be afraid of taking risks. You will eventually end up on the right path.

15 Jul 2021002: Why Uncertainty Can Be Good with Carla Biesinger00:32:08

Feelings of incompetence and insecurity will come at certain points in our lives, but keep going - that marks the start of every success story.

Carla Biesinger, now a successful Business Mentor, found success after going through failure, unhappiness, and self-doubt.

In this podcast episode, you will learn that you don’t need to know everything on the get-go. Allow yourself to have fun and explore.

Show Highlights

[3:50] You don’t have to know and decide who you want to be early on in life, you will eventually figure it out.

[6:00] Life doesn’t have to be too structured and straight, it is more fulfilling to feel content, excited, and joyful.

[9:00] Enjoy life and have fun. There’s no point in working too hard for money if you neglect the things that matter most.

[11:00] If opportunities are limited, create your own, but don’t take the fun out of it by just focusing on making everyone else happy.

[15:30] Realizations of your true calling sometimes happen during the unhappiest moments of your life.

[18:23] Success doesn't always come in ways you planned it. Keep going. Keep refining.

[22:00] Don’t hesitate to invest in yourself. That will give you confidence and lead you towards success, especially when you’re in a place of doubt.

[24:28] Go for the things you want to do and give it your all. If it fails, it’s not the end of the world. You can always go back, reflect, and reconstruct yourself.

15 Jul 2021003: From Passion To Business with Natashia and Shauna00:35:26

If you ask anyone what they want to become and who they want to be, you’ll hear answers revolving around their passion and dream job or business.

In reality, to become successful, there’s more to it than just loving what you do.

Natashia and Shauna, a mother-daughter duo, successfully owns Public 311, a Lifestyle Photography Service, and have never been so happy throughout their journey - even in a time when most businesses were put to a halt.

In this podcast episode, you will learn the importance of knowing the business and taking the leap of faith, regardless of your age.

Highlights

[6:15] Age doesn’t matter as long as you’re doing what you love. It would reflect in your work and you’re bound to succeed.

[7:43] Go after your passion, but consider the future and learn how to make a living out of it. Don’t forget to study the business and marketing side of what makes you happy.

[12:30] Surround yourself with people who will inspire and motivate you to dream and take action.

[14:20] Don’t be afraid to make the leap of faith, even when others can’t see your vision and don’t think it’s worth the risk.

[15:53] There will be changes beyond our control, but that doesn’t mean it’s over. When utilized, it can go the complete opposite.

[20:00] The future of business is in the Digital Age. Public 311 finds fulfillment in helping entrepreneurs bring their brands and vision to life through photos.

15 Jul 2021004: How Food Can Be Used as Medicine With Elana Horwich00:50:51

We’ve all been impulsive and adventurous when we were young. It’s a common reason why people suddenly jump into certain decisions, whether it’s a temporary move or a life-long transformative one.

That’s the same case with Elana Horwich, an entrepreneur, cook, author, healer, and teacher. Her life-changing moment occurred in her 20s as she decided to move to Italy where she found her love and healing in cooking. After five years, she went back to her hometown where she shared her newfound knowledge in food by opening a stress-free cooking school and wrote a cookbook about her Italian journey and the recipes she learned along the way.

In this episode, Elana Horwich talks about the inspiration behind her cookbook entitled ‘Meal and a Spiel: How to Be a Badass in the Kitchen’, being a Jewish woman in today's society, and building an intimate retreat center for healing ancestral trauma.

Highlights

[5:34] I think what makes me brave is that I really do often feel fear, and I am willing to work with it and move towards the things that I want. That I think is probably the true definition of bravery.

[15:04] Everybody has the opportunity to become a badass in the kitchen, to really feel empowered in the kitchen, to have joy, to feel the sexiness of it, and to be able to open the fridge and make something amazing from there.

[28:58] So when I look back at when does the magic unfold and when does the magic not unfold, it’s really that place of like, hard trust, you know. Just like being centered in your heart and being open to what comes your way, even when it may not look exactly the way you wanted it to look, and not control the outcome.

[37:30] If I'm going to be holding space for people to come do healing, I need to be in a strong open space where I can hold the container for others to come and do their work.

15 Jul 2021005: Pursuing What Your Passion Is with Katie Peacock00:37:27

Not all of us can answer the question “What do you want to do for a living?” straight away, let alone if asked, “Where do you see yourself in the next five years?”

For Katie Peacock, she already knew she wanted to be a copywriter, something she enjoys doing during her free time and on weekends, even without getting paid.

But she didn’t land the job right away. She jumped from one service to another— translating a website, proofreading, academic editing, before pursuing copywriting.

Listen to Katie Peacock, a conversion copywriter, and funnel strategist, as she shared moving from Canada to Austria for a relationship that eventually failed sparked a newfound love for Europe and writing. How she turned something she loves into an online course to help women entrepreneurs sell online through excellent writing, and the joys and struggles of being both a freelancer and a new mom.

Show Highlights

[11:19] I knew that copywriting was it for me because that was the thing that I enjoyed studying in my free time.

[13:11] I decided I was going to be a copywriter way before anybody ever paid me for it.

[16:35] The biggest change in how I operate my business now versus this time 2020 was really taking a longer view, like “What do I want this business to look like in five years?”, “What should I start doing now that will make that possible?”

[18:11] I’m so grateful that I get to work with women who are doing such inspiring things, and then I get to help them bring their ideas to life through the messaging, but I also get inspiration from the courageous action they’re taking.

[31:19] Something I’m really working on is like boundaries, because I think with the group program especially, boundaries are so important. It can be so tempting to over-deliver and to just say “Let me do that for you because you know it’s easy for you anyway”, so boundaries are something I have in mind to pay more attention to.

[32:57] Are you creating the life you like or are you just saying yes to everything?

22 Jul 2021006: Inspiring Kids to Eat Vegetables with Amber Stott00:48:28

We all love good food, but did you know that what people eat during their younger years can hugely impact their eating habits and choices in the long run? If you want kids to be healthy, you gotta start them young.

This existing problem is what Amber Stott wants to address through food and nutrition literacy programs. Listen to how she talks passionately about the importance of childhood nutrition in schools.

She also speaks about the unfamiliarity of people on local produce, her experiences with nonprofit organizations and food banks like Freedom from Hunger, working with nutrition and education experts and world-renowned chefs like Jaime Oliver and Alice Waters, and the hopes in building a cooking school integrated with the usual classroom schedule in the near future.

Amber Stott is a food activist and author who founded the nonprofit Food Literacy Center, focused on educating and changing the kids’ attitude towards food. She also started farm to school state-wide programs and pushed forward a resolution declaring every September as Food Literacy Month in California.

Show Highlights:

[18:55] There’s only 4% of the kids in America, in all of America, we only have 4% of kids who eat the recommended amount of daily vegetables.

[25:06] Food Literacy Center’s approach was always not to reverse childhood obesity but to get out in front of it, same as what we’re doing in Covid. We wanted to prevent childhood obesity in the kids that we serve, we don’t want them to ever face that problem.

[38:10] This is about raising the bar of the importance of food literacy education within the school system. Food education is as important as science and reading and math and that’s the kind of systems change that we ultimately want to see.

Amber Stott wrote a hands-on guide book for children entitled ‘Food Anatomy Activities for Kids: Fun, Hands-On Learning’ and talks about how people can use food to make the world a better place in her podcast called Raising Kale. You can donate and volunteer in the Food Literacy Center here.

29 Jul 2021007: How to Start a Career as a Virtual Assistant with Emily Reagan01:07:34

The term ‘virtual assistant’ wasn’t a thing yet if you look back even just several years ago.

But in today’s digital age, it’s considered one of the most in-demand online jobs there is.

Emily Reagan is one of the first few virtual assistants (VA) who started a decade ago, long before she was able to refer to herself as one. Being a VA is something she saw herself doing for a long time since she’s a military spouse moving from one city to another. A few years after her first stint as a VA, she now teaches digital marketing and helps women venture into being a virtual assistant career path.

In this episode, we talked about how to apply and land a job as a VA, what skills and tools are needed to get that VA position, and the advantages of working in a digital space.

Show Highlights:

[9:51] Business owners are scared to hire, they want someone they can trust so they can keep it in-house.

[40:24] You can be almost any kind of VA, like anything you used to do, especially in an office or for work, translated online. You just need your eyes open to that and you need to update with the lingo, and the software, and the platforms.

[40:52] You can’t go in with a negative attitude or a closed mindset. You have to be willing to take on that challenge and learn.

05 Aug 2021008: Illustrating The Life of a Miserable Mom with Sharon Brecher00:41:42

They say life starts when you realize you’re living one, but in the case of full-time mom Sharon Brecher, that one cathartic moment in her life that changed everything was when her eldest daughter started to move out for college. Her pent-up emotions and feelings about midlife crisis all the while being a mom gave birth to Miserable Moms, an unfiltered comic relief about moms for moms made by a mom.

In this episode, Sharon talks about her eureka moment in grad school and a newfound interest in using educational software that landed her a job at FutureKids, then Disney Interactive and Disney Online. She also shares how she started Miserable Moms out of emotions, the idea behind each illustration she creates, and her two- to five-year vision and plan following the success of her naturally funny comics.

Show Highlights:

[20:35] I think the biggest thing is that, first of all, I’m loving what I’m doing. It’s fun. So when you’re enjoying it, it makes it a little bit easier even when it’s terrifying, and even when you don’t know where it's going.

[23:16] It’s really hard sometimes to let yourself be vulnerable, right? You feel like it’s just really raw to share what you’re thinking and feeling, whether it’s in an illustration or something you’ve written or something that you’ve cooked. Whatever it is, when you’re sharing it out there, there’s a vulnerability to it.

[23:45] But I really think that being more honest about what we’re going through, about those day-to-day things, the more we can all relate to it.

09 Sep 2021010: From Office to Film and TV with Romy Rosemont00:57:11

When you’re exposed to the showbiz industry at a very young age, your life seems to be heading that way. It isn’t the case for actor Romy Rosemont.

Her father was a show producer which contributed to all she has known about the entertainment industry. At around 10 years old, she already knew that she wanted to be an actress because she wanted people to make people laugh, cry, and feel things. But before she landed a role on the small screen, she jumped from different jobs: a waitress and then an executive assistant.

In this episode, Romy gives a glimpse of her early life as a student at Northwestern University starring on improv shows which she eventually directed in her senior year, how she wanted to pursue theater, and how these experiences influenced her acting skills. Being cast as a recurring character on Glee as Finn Hudson (Corey Monteith)’s mom, she looks back on some important realizations she had with the role. She also gives some life advice on how to balance passion and work, the wonders of surrounding yourself with good people, and how to find your voice especially in situations you don’t have control of.

More importantly, Romy talks about her advocacy on SAG-AFTRA, the acronym for Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and why she wants to run for a position, get involved, and be elected as a part of the local board.

Highlights

[21:30] When you are that successful in the industry now, so much is asked of you. And if you really want to use your power for good, it’s best to have someone to help you organize that.

[23:42] Nothing ever got off the ground because the truth is, when you create a business like that, it’s 24/7.

[25:07] Here’s also a gift: you surround yourself with the most amazing people.

[26:25] I’ve found that, especially in the pandemic, is that I find myself more authentic with people that I just started “dating”, it’s because you get to be who you are now, and then you get to share your history, and you share all of the stuff.

[32:38] You do have to get to the point of acceptance, and my thing is that “I might accept it, but I might not like it”.

[40:55] What happens is that you are constantly reminded that you can be replaced. It’s like everyone is dispensable. And as an actor, that’s really heart-wrenching. We’re the biggest creative people. And what happens is that only 21% of actors voted last time.

[49:39] I think that those closest to me know that in good times and bad, and kind of especially in bad, that I have their back, that they can exhale from time to time.

23 Sep 2021011: Growing from Baby Talk to Coaching with Pamela Weinberg00:42:33

When you don’t know the answer, you ask. But when you don’t know who to ask, you have to find the answer on your own. This is what Pamela Weinburg’s road to pregnancy looked like.

Growing up in the suburbs and then living in the city during her pregnancy, she had to do her own research around the neighborhood about newborn essentials. This led to writing a resource guide for parents living in the city entitled City Baby New York.

In today’s episode, Pamela talks about her childhood dreams and how they somewhat came true, her father’s influence on her career, growing up in a middle-class family, and how she jumped from being an author to a career coach. Listen to her stories about wanting to buy Frye Boots at the age of 15 to watch The Bachelor and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and New York as a way to relax and more.

Pamela is currently a Certified Career Coach working with individuals in all stages of their career development—from college students to moms to young professionals.

Highlights

[14:52] You know what I realized about public speaking? I think still if I had to present in an advertising agency for a new business, I’ll still be nervous like I was, but when I’m speaking now, I’m speaking about things that I love and I’m so passionate about. And it’s all about helping other people.

[31:25] Working with them (college students) is keeping me so current in what’s going on in the job market, learning about how marketing companies use TikTok to sell their products, and learning so much lingo from them.

[32:02] I just find it fascinating to have this exposure to so many different types of careers and types of people, and I’m such an extrovert, and I get my energy a lot from other people, so I look forward to learning from each client.

[33:09] I’m never afraid to ask questions. And I hope that that is a good example for my clients who are young, who may be in a meeting, and who aren’t afraid to say “Can you explain that? I don’t know what that acronym means”. I love to learn.
