10 Jan 2024133 Unmasking the Illusion: The Pitfalls of Paying for Fake Podcast Promotion00:22:15

Detecting if a podcaster has purchased fake followers, downloads, views, and comments can involve a combination of qualitative and quantitative assessments. First, examine the engagement-to-follower ratio: if a podcast has an unusually high number of followers but consistently low likes, comments, or downloads, it may suggest inauthenticity. Second, assess the quality of comments and reviews—fake engagements often lack substance, with generic or repetitive content. Lastly, observe the growth pattern: a sudden spike in followers, downloads, or views without a corresponding increase in genuine engagement or external factors (such as a notable event or collaboration) could indicate artificial inflation. These signals collectively provide clues about the legitimacy of a podcaster's online presence and help discern between organic growth and potentially purchased metrics.

Disadvantages

  1. Inauthenticity: Paying for followers and engagement creates an inauthentic online presence. People may eventually notice the lack of genuine interaction, leading to a loss of trust.
  2. Algorithmic Impact: Social media algorithms are designed to prioritize content based on genuine engagement. Artificially inflated metrics may not result in better visibility over time, as algorithms prioritize content that genuinely resonates with users.
  3. Poor Engagement Quality: Paid followers and engagement are often not genuinely interested in your content, leading to low-quality interactions. This can negatively impact your brand image.
  4. Risk of Exposure: Many social media platforms actively work to identify and remove fake accounts and engagements. If your account is flagged, it could face penalties, such as reduced visibility or even suspension.
  5. Waste of Resources: Investing money in buying followers and engagements may not provide a significant return on investment in terms of genuine business outcomes or brand growth.
  6. Legal and Ethical Concerns: Some platforms explicitly prohibit the use of third-party services to buy followers, likes, or engagement. Violating platform rules can result in consequences, including account suspension.
  7. Reputation Damage: Once discovered, the act of buying followers and engagement can damage your reputation. It may be seen as an attempt to deceive or manipulate, which can lead to negative perceptions among your audience.

In the long run, it is generally advisable to focus on building an authentic and engaged audience through meaningful content and genuine interactions. Building a real and loyal following takes time, but it is more sustainable and beneficial for your online presence and reputation.

13 Oct 2023122 From Ideas to Impact: The Art of Storytelling with 5 Strategies for Podcasters00:19:27

Podcasting is all about storytelling and keeping your audience captivated. Here are five tips for podcasters to tell better stories and maintain audience engagement:

  1. Know Your Audience and Niche: Understand who your target audience is and tailor your stories to their interests. Consider the demographics, preferences, and expectations of your listeners. Knowing your niche allows you to create content that resonates with your specific audience.
  2. Start Strong: Capture your audience's attention from the very beginning. A compelling and intriguing opening sets the tone for the entire episode. Use a hook, a captivating story snippet, or a thought-provoking question to draw listeners in and make them want to stay.
  3. Use Conversational and Engaging Language: Podcasting is an intimate medium, and listeners often feel a personal connection with the host. Use conversational language, be relatable, and inject personality into your storytelling. Imagine you're telling a story to a friend, and let your natural voice shine through.
  4. Create a Narrative Arc: Structure your podcast episodes with a clear narrative arc. Introduce the main idea or story, build tension or interest throughout the episode, and provide a satisfying resolution. This structure helps maintain a sense of progression and keeps listeners engaged from start to finish.
  5. Incorporate Sound and Production Elements: Enhance your storytelling with sound effects, music, and other production elements. These can add depth, atmosphere, and emotion to your stories. Be mindful not to overwhelm the narrative, but strategic use of sound can create a more immersive and engaging experience for your audience.

Remember, storytelling is an evolving skill, and practice is key. Pay attention to listener feedback, analyze what works well, and continuously refine your storytelling techniques. Experiment with different formats, styles, and approaches to keep your podcast content fresh and appealing to your audience.

06 Jan 2024BONUS EPISODE - Tailoring Your Podcast to Serve Your Audience Best00:06:03

In the vast and ever-expanding world of podcasting, the decision to niche down and intimately understand your audience is not merely a strategic move but a crucial foundation for success. Operating a variety podcast may seem appealing, offering a broad range of topics for a diverse audience, but in reality, this approach often dilutes the impact and connection with listeners. By honing in on a specific niche, podcasters can cultivate a dedicated community of like-minded individuals who share a genuine interest in the content. Knowing your audience enables tailored content creation, allowing you to address their unique needs, preferences, and pain points. This focused approach not only enhances the overall listening experience but also fosters stronger loyalty and engagement, ultimately propelling your podcast to greater heights in an increasingly competitive landscape.

26 Feb 2024139 Unlocking the Power of Purposeful Podcast Guests: 5 Benefits of Steering Clear of Random Interviews00:20:46

Podcasters often strive to maintain a cohesive narrative and theme throughout their shows, ensuring that each episode contributes meaningfully to their audience's experience. Interviewing guests who align with the show's content not only reinforces this consistency but also enhances the overall value proposition for listeners. By carefully selecting guests who resonate with the podcast's core topics or themes, podcasters can delve deeper into relevant discussions, offer unique insights, and provide actionable advice or entertaining stories that directly appeal to their target audience. This approach fosters a stronger connection between the podcast and its listeners, leading to increased engagement, loyalty, and the potential for organic growth as satisfied listeners recommend the show to others who share similar interests. Moreover, maintaining consistency in guest selection helps establish the podcast as a trusted source within its niche, further solidifying its reputation and authority in the ever-expanding world of podcasting.

  1. Audience Targeting: By focusing on a specific niche, you can tailor your content to a particular audience segment with shared interests. This targeted approach increases the relevance of your content, attracting listeners who are more likely to engage with and benefit from your episodes.
  2. Establishing Expertise: Consistently covering topics within a niche allows you to establish yourself as an authority in that area. Interviewing guests who are experts within the niche reinforces your credibility and positions your podcast as a trusted source of information on the subject matter.
  3. Building a Dedicated Audience: When you consistently deliver content that aligns with your niche, you attract a dedicated audience that shares a passion for the topics you cover. These listeners are more likely to become loyal followers of your podcast, regularly tuning in for new episodes and even recommending your show to others who share their interests.
  4. Maintaining Cohesive Branding: Focusing on a specific niche helps you maintain cohesive branding for your podcast. This clarity in content direction makes it easier for new listeners to understand what your show is about and decide if it aligns with their interests, ultimately increasing the likelihood of subscription and retention.
  5. Maximizing Engagement and Impact: By delving deep into a specific niche, you can explore topics in greater detail and provide valuable insights that resonate with your audience. This depth of coverage enhances engagement, fosters meaningful discussions, and ultimately delivers greater impact in terms of educating, entertaining, or inspiring your listeners.

Overall, choosing a specific show niche and interviewing guests within that niche enables you to create content that is highly relevant, credible, and engaging for your audience, leading to stronger connections, increased loyalty, and greater overall success for your podcast or content platform.

07 Sep 2023118 Unlocking Audience Delight: 7 Strategies for Delivering Irresistible Value00:20:19

Focusing on the value your podcast will bring to the audience is essential for building a loyal following and growing your show. Here are seven ways to prioritize delivering value:

  1. Clear Audience Understanding: - Invest time in understanding your target audience's needs, preferences, and pain points. - Create listener personas to develop content that resonates with your specific demographic.
  2. Educate and Inform: - Prioritize informative and educational content that provides actionable takeaways. - Ensure that each episode leaves your audience with new knowledge or skills.
  3. Solve Problems: - Identify common problems or challenges within your niche and address them in your podcast. - Offer practical solutions, tips, and strategies that help your audience overcome obstacles.
  4. Entertain and Engage: - While informative content is crucial, also focus on keeping your audience engaged and entertained. - Use storytelling, humor, and relatable anecdotes to captivate your listeners.
  5. Consistency and Reliability: - Establish a consistent release schedule to build trust with your audience. - Ensure that each episode maintains a high standard of quality and reliability.
  6. Interact and Listen: - Encourage audience engagement through social media, listener surveys, and feedback channels. - Actively listen to your audience's suggestions and concerns, and adapt your content accordingly.
  7. Continual Improvement: - Regularly assess your podcast's performance and seek ways to improve. - Stay updated with industry trends and evolving audience needs, and adapt your content strategy accordingly.

Remember that the value you provide doesn't have to be limited to the content itself; it can also encompass the overall experience of being part of your podcast community. Building a strong connection with your audience, offering consistent value, and adapting to their changing preferences will help ensure your podcast remains a valuable resource for your listeners.

28 Apr 2022Ep 58: Who is really listening? - Harness your Creativity - Podcast on a Pedestal 00:20:35
Thank You for listening. I made a few changes to Podtastic Audio. I created an all new logo for the show. As it turned out, my old show artwork was under specifications requirements. And I didnt like how the name blurred into the design. I wanted it to be prominent and noticeable. So I went into Canva on my computer rather than creating it on the phone. Tip - don't make your show artwork on your phone. It might look upscale because of the smaller screen, but its not. https://www.canva.com/ I share a quick story about that time I was on the radio station for my college. I had to give away prizes and I thought nobody was actually listening to me, then in walks somebody.  Do you put your Podcast on a Pedestal? Is it harming your mental health? If so, you need to stop podcasting. Take a break and focus on the important things in life. Podcating can be fun and I put fun as the focus of all my shows. 30 Jun 2021Ep. 24: Microphones and Downloads (ranking your stats)00:23:22

This week I talk about each of the microphones I've used in my podcasting journey. We started podcasting in the summer of 2019 with basic microphones. Since then we've upgraded them a few different times. I'll explain which ones and why.

Then I found an article on podcast stats. What percentile does your podcast fall into based on your weekly downloads. You shouldn't measure the success of your podcast based solely on download stats alone. Audience engagement is good indication that you have a successful podcast.

Correction: I said AIB certified, its IAB certified stats. IAB stands for “Interactive Advertising Bureau”

18 Feb 2022Ep. 48: Clean your audio - Sample Rates - Is your podcast plain vanilla?00:20:58
Happy Friday as I record this. My 2nd favorite day of the week, other than Saturday. Today I explain a why its important to clean the audio files the best you can before you decide to merge them all together into a master track. Then I explain a bit on what the sound Hertz rate is and how it works. You can see for yourself by switching the recording settings to very low, to very high. Zoom in on the audio waves and you will see the difference. The lower Hertz rate means less of the audio is being recorded less frequently. The higher, means more of the audio is being recorded. I record my shows at 48 Hertz rate. Most pros use 48 Hertz rate when recording audio.  Is your podcast plain vanilla ice cream? Even if its very very good vanilla, nobody buys a scoop of vanilla when they can get a loaded Sundae. Make your podcast the sundae, not just plain vanilla. 30 Nov 2022Ep. 84: Good Audio from a remote guest on a Blue Yeti with Descript Studio Sound.00:19:41

Hey Podcasters! I hope all is well with your podcasting journey. Today I share how I was able to  get really good audio from a guest that was using a Blue Yeti microphone for the first time. I used a few tricks up my sleeve. First I record all my guests via Cleanfeed. Second I will run the recorded .wav files through The Levelator app on my Macbook. Then the final step I used was Descript's Studio Sound feature. Which can work like magic to enhance "bad" audio.

09 Dec 2022Ep. 85: Podcasting through the Holiday Season - Our Media Host went DOWN!00:20:26

Happy December 2022! The Holiday Season is here upon us. As we gear up for the Christmas Season a lot of Podcasts will be taking time off for the Holidays. That is totally okay to take breaks from podcasting. But consider that people do enjoy listening to podcasts all year long. They might be forced to take a break from their favorite shows because they decided to take time off this time of year. Which opens up the chance they might discover you podcast. So if possible dont stop podcasting this time of year. Make your show a Holiday Theme like we are doing on The Kris and Kristine Show. All December long we are making Christmas Themed Content.

On The Kris and Kristine Show this week, our Podcast Media Host went down. They had server problems and our show wouldn't play anywhere. Which can put a lot of stress when you are trying to promote your podcast.  So what do you do when that happens? You should double check that you are connected to the internet. Try different devices and see if it plays. If still not working, then Google check if the company is having an outage. You could file a complaint or wait and see if it comes back up like I did. Luckily it was only down for a few hours. But if it was longer... I would consider switching media hosts.

20 May 2022Ep. 61 Before we can make GOOD audio, we must understand what BAD audio is. 00:20:23

What is BAD audio? Today we dive into some samples of bad audio to help you create GOOD audio. I have some clips from a local radio station. When they do remote interviews, it's usually done over the phone. And even with the big budget of the radio station it doesn't sound as good as it could be. Bad audio can take you away from the content you're trying to share with your audience.

Do you play podcasts a fast playback speeds? That must mean you hate the show your listening. You are trying get through the show a fast as possible. I personally only play shows back in regular playback speed. Because I want it sound as natural as possible.

13 Jan 2022Ep. 43: Try out Auphonic as a Levelator alternative for Windows PC. 00:17:26

I love using the audio tool Levelator. As it turns out its not available to download on Windows PC. As I did some research the source where the download was originally was invalid. So what is a good alternative. I found Auphonic. https://auphonic.com/ They do charge you to use it, but it does a better job than Levelator did. You can use it for free, at 2 hours a month. I signed up for the free plan to try it and I'll play 2 samples on this episode. The first sample was Levelator, second clip on Auphonic.

In this episode of Podtastic Audio, I, Chris, dive deep into the art of refining your podcast by honing in on a specific niche. I emphasize the importance of truly understanding your target audience and the immense benefits that come with narrowing down your content. By doing so, you can significantly boost listener loyalty and engagement, making your podcast a go-to source for your chosen topic.

I also share some personal anecdotes, including my recent trip to New York City. This adventure inspired me to consider starting a travel vlog, and I discuss how such experiences can spark new ideas for content creation. From riding the classic Cyclone wooden roller coaster at Coney Island to exploring iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, my trip was filled with memorable moments that got me thinking about the potential of travel vlogging.

In addition to these stories, I provide practical steps for rebranding your podcast. This includes reviewing past episodes to identify common themes, analyzing listener feedback, and updating your show's branding to reflect your new focus. I also discuss the importance of creating a content calendar and planning out your first few episodes to ensure a smooth transition.

I highlight the numerous benefits of niche podcasting, such as increased listener loyalty and engagement. When your content is focused, your audience knows exactly what to expect, which helps build a dedicated listener base. Niche podcasting also opens up amazing opportunities for monetization and sponsorships, as brands are more likely to invest in a podcast that targets a specific, engaged audience. Additionally, it’s easier to establish authority and credibility in your chosen niche, especially if you are the one delivering the content.

Whether you're a seasoned podcaster looking to niche down or a newbie just starting out, this episode provides valuable insights and actionable advice to help you make your podcast truly spectacular. So tune in, take notes, and get ready to elevate your podcasting game.

29 Jul 2022Ep 68: Fake Download Stats - IAB Certification - Audio Tips 00:23:45
Today we take a look at IAB certified stats for your podcast. It's hard to get new plays on our shows. The same goes for all of your social media. What is IAB certified podcasting stats and why would you care if you have them? It’s a certified agency that proves the best way they can that each physical play on your podcast is by a different person. So each play counts as one play. The rules - Each play has to have at least one play by one device, playing for at least 1 minute in length. That gives 1 IAB certified play. It’s a more accurate way to count download plays. Mainly to prove to ad sponsorships. They usually pay on a cost per thousand plays. So they want to accuracy when paying for these ads. Just like a work Time Clock. If you get paid by the hour. You clock in on a device to accurately keep track of the time on the job. At the end of the pay period, your supervisor usually has to verify that those hours are correct. Once approved it gets sent off to payroll to send out a paycheck. It’s just a layer of proof that says this was actually played. 10 BEST PLACES TO BUY PODCAST DOWNLOADS IN 2022 https://earthweb.com/buy-podcast-downloads/ The Kris and Kristine Show podtasticaudio@gmail.com

15 May 2023105 Unveiling the Podcast Interviewer's Dilemma: Narrative vs. Conversational Style Showdown00:19:10

Welcome to Podtastic Audio! On this episode I'm going to talk about the two different styles of podcast interviews: The Narrative Stye and The Natural Conversation Style. And no matter which style works best for you and your show, remember to have fun!

Podcasting has emerged as a popular medium for interviews, offering a unique and engaging way to share knowledge, stories, and insights. When it comes to podcast interview shows, two distinct styles have gained prominence: the natural conversation style and the narration style. While both have their merits, they bring different dynamics to the listening experience.

Natural Conversation Style: The natural conversation style aims to simulate an organic and spontaneous discussion between the host and the guest. It prioritizes authenticity, a relaxed atmosphere, and a free-flowing exchange of ideas. Here are the pros and cons of this style:

Pros:

  1. Authenticity: Natural conversation style allows for genuine reactions, emotions, and unscripted moments, making the interview feel more personal and relatable.
  2. Engaging and Dynamic: The conversational approach creates a sense of energy and back-and-forth banter, keeping the listener engaged and entertained.
  3. Flexibility: This style permits diversions and tangents, enabling unexpected insights and new perspectives to emerge during the conversation.

Cons

  1. Lack of Structure: The absence of a rigid script can sometimes lead to meandering discussions or incomplete coverage of certain topics.
  2. Lengthy Episodes: Natural conversation-style interviews tend to be longer due to their open-ended nature, potentially testing the patience of time-constrained listeners.
  3. Potential for Information Overload: Without a tightly organized structure, essential points may get buried or lost within the conversation, making it challenging for listeners to extract key takeaways.

Narration Style: The narration style takes a more structured and controlled approach, with the host providing narration, context, and guiding the interviewee through a pre-determined script. Here are the pros and cons of this style:

Pros:

  1. Clarity and Focus: The narration style ensures a clear direction, allowing the host to cover specific points and ensure the interview remains on track.
  2. Conciseness: The structured format allows for concise delivery of information, making episodes more time-efficient for busy listeners.
  3. Enhanced Storytelling: By incorporating well-crafted narratives and transitions, the narration style can create a compelling and immersive storytelling experience.

Cons

  1. Reduced Spontaneity: The more controlled nature of the narration style may limit the natural flow of conversation, potentially sacrificing spontaneity and authenticity.
  2. Less Flexibility: The rigid structure may leave little room for unexpected insights or unplanned detours, potentially missing out on valuable perspectives.
  3. Potential for Sterility: Overly scripted episodes can sometimes lack the warmth and personal connection that comes from a genuine, unfiltered conversation.

Conclusion: Both the natural conversation style and the narration style bring unique qualities to podcast interview shows. The choice between the two depends on the goals, preferences, and desired audience experience. The natural conversation style thrives on authenticity and engagement, while the narration style offers structure and concise delivery. To strike a balance, some hosts combine elements of both styles, blending the strengths of each to create a captivating and informative listening experience. Ultimately, regardless of the chosen style, the success of a podcast interview show lies in the ability to provide valuable insights, foster meaningful conversations, and resonate with the audience.

25 Mar 2022Ep. 53: Use Cleanfeed for any Guest and still get great audio. 00:24:05

Power of Audio

Best sound from the guests. On K2 show we have had a variety of guests on the show. Each of them sound really good compared to other interview shows. How is that possible?

11 Jul 2023112 Metrics that Matter: Making Sense of Podcast Stats and Adjusting to a Paid Website Builder00:23:14

As content creators, we love to know if our message is really being heard by our audience. One known way to find that out is through podcast download metrics. As podcasters, we strive to create engaging content that resonates with our audience and garners the attention it deserves. While many metrics can gauge a podcast's success, the number of downloads often takes center stage. However, it's essential to understand that download figures alone may not paint the whole picture. So, let's delve into what really matters when publishing an episode.

  1. Quality Content: The foundation of any successful podcast lies in its content. Your audience is looking for valuable information, captivating stories, or thought-provoking discussions. Focus on delivering high-quality, well-researched, and engaging episodes that keep your listeners coming back for more. Consistency in content quality will ultimately drive more downloads and foster a loyal listener base.
  2. Clear Audio: A podcast's audio quality can make or break its success. Listeners appreciate crisp, clear audio that immerses them in the experience. Invest in a good microphone, use a quiet recording space, and edit your episodes to ensure optimal sound quality. Remember, your listeners are tuning in to listen, so prioritize delivering excellent audio.
  3. Effective Promotion: Producing great content is only half the battle. Promoting your podcast is crucial for expanding your listener base. Leverage social media platforms, collaborate with other podcasters, reach out to influencers in your niche, and engage with your audience. A well-executed promotional strategy can significantly boost your episode's visibility and, subsequently, your download numbers.
  4. Compelling Titles and Descriptions: Your podcast's title and episode descriptions act as the gateway to your content. Craft attention-grabbing titles that spark curiosity and accurately reflect the episode's essence. Accompany them with engaging descriptions that entice potential listeners to hit that "Play" button. A compelling title and description can make a significant difference in attracting new downloads.
  5. Audience Interaction and Feedback: Building a strong connection with your audience is vital for long-term podcast success. Encourage your listeners to provide feedback, share their thoughts, and participate in discussions. Engage with them on social media or through dedicated platforms like Discord. Actively incorporating their input can foster a sense of community and loyalty, resulting in increased downloads as satisfied listeners become enthusiastic advocates for your podcast.

While download numbers offer valuable insights into your podcast's reach, they should not be the sole focus. Concentrate on consistently producing high-quality content, ensuring exceptional audio, promoting effectively, creating captivating titles and descriptions, and fostering audience interaction. By prioritizing these key elements, you'll not only enhance the overall podcast experience but also attract more listeners and ultimately achieve the success your podcast deserves. Happy podcasting!

25 Jul 2023113 Enhancing Your Podcast's Message with David Hooper of Build a BIG Podcast01:03:34

I have been in vacation mode all last week. Flying home from the islands of Hawaii. What an incredible place to visit. To share my vacation with you, I created a Hawaiian audio experience at the beginning of this episode. Using theater of the mind to transport you to the islands of Hawaii through the power of audio. Especially by using "stereo" audio to set the soundscape needed to enhance the scene. Not all podcast media hosts publish your podcast in stereo. One example is Buzzsprout. They produce your podcast in mono only formats. Be careful if you are using stereo sounds to tell you message on a platform that doesn't use stereo.

Stereo audio can significantly enhance the soundscape of your podcast by creating a more immersive and dynamic listening experience for your audience. Unlike mono sound, which comes from a single source and can sometimes feel flat, stereo utilizes two separate channels, allowing for the placement of different audio elements in the left and right speakers. This spatial separation enables you to create a sense of depth and directionality, making it feel as if the listener is surrounded by the sounds. By judiciously using stereo panning, you can place voices and sound effects in specific locations, providing a more engaging and realistic atmosphere. Additionally, stereo can be employed to widen the soundstage, making the podcast feel more expansive and appealing to listeners. When used thoughtfully, stereo audio can add a layer of richness and creativity to your podcast, effectively enhancing your message and ultimately building a larger and more captivated audience.

Then I'm joined by David Hooper from Build a BIG Podcast. David Hooper is a media marketing expert based in Nashville, TN. He specializes in helping individuals and companies build audiences via broadcasting and podcasting. His latest book is Big Podcast – How To Grow Your Podcast Audience, Build Listener Loyalty, and Get Everybody Talking About Your Show.

06 Feb 2022Ep. 46: Cold Weather - Upload Speeds - Content Creator Sebastian Schug01:02:26

Thanks for listening this week. The bad weather over the last week or so has really hit most of the country. I found a clip of an actual news anchor that was sent to the side of the road to report. As most of us would, he was not having it. Have a listen to his on air meltdown. Then I wanted to share a tip about your Internet Upload speeds verses the download. If you need to do any kind of video calls, or podcast interviews over the web, then you really need good Upload speeds. Check your internet speeds by doing a google search. Your upload speed shouldn't be anything less than 10MB to have a trouble free recording. When you have upload speeds slower than that, you will have audio and video glitches.

Today I'm joined by Sebastian Schug.  An independent multimedia artist currently residing in suburban Burbank, California. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Political Science, and currently spends his time narrating miscellaneous stories (semi-professionally!) Sebastian "Schugzy" Schug is an independent writer, illustrator, and bedroom literary/music publisher currently residing in suburban Burbank, California. Secondary to literary publishing, alternative, R&B, and lo-fi are a primary focus within his music production.

Alongside music production, audiobooks, podcasts, and a plethora of other audio projects assist in paving Sebastian Schug’s verbal showcasings, and can be found on most first, second, and third party distribution networks alongside their literary counterparts.

22 Jul 2022Ep. 67: Habits that annoy listeners! - What makes us press play on a podcast episode?00:23:14

I'm back from vacation. We took the entire family to Florida to check out Miami and Disney World. It was our big summer vacation that we've been doing the last 3 years. It was so much fun, and hot. The kids haven't ever been and I've only been once as a kid. We all had a fantastic time. Link to the Vacation Video -  https://youtu.be/sMLJcvVruzs  As we returned Kristine and the kids all caught Covid 19. I tested negative out of the group, which is strange because we are all together. But as I recorded this today I feel fine.

I came across an article that has 7 Podcaster Habits that really annoy your audience. And we are all guilty of doing these things, which makes it ironic. https://wavve.co/7-podcaster-habits-that-really-annoy-their-listeners/

What makes a new listener press play on a podcast episode? Well it turns out it's mostly because of the content of the show. Above all else, they come for the content. If you can deliver great content and great sound, then you should be able to get more listeners coming back to your show. It's not easy, but try to make the best show you can.

15 Aug 2023115 Sights and Sounds Unleashed: Harnessing the Power of Video and Audio for Audience Expansion00:20:02

Happy Podcasting! I hope you are having a fantastic time along your podcast journey. As content creators, we are all wonder if we are serving our audience correctly. In this episode I talk about the choices me make as content creators and how these choices can impact your audience.

Adobe Podcast Enhance

In an age where content consumption habits are constantly evolving, content creators are presented with an array of mediums through which they can engage their audience. Among these, video and audio podcasts have emerged as two of the most potent tools for sharing content. By combining the strengths of both formats, creators can tap into a wider audience base and offer a more immersive experience.

  1. Captivating Visual Storytelling: Video podcasts offer the opportunity to go beyond the audio realm and deliver content through visual storytelling. This can be especially effective for showcasing demonstrations, interviews, tutorials, and events. The inclusion of visuals not only makes the content more engaging but also aids in conveying complex concepts that might be challenging to communicate through audio alone.
  2. Catering to Diverse Preferences: People consume content in various ways, and not everyone has the time or inclination to watch videos or listen to audio exclusively. By providing both options, content creators accommodate a broader range of preferences. Some may choose to listen during commutes or workouts, while others may prefer to watch during leisure moments. Offering both audio and video allows creators to reach and resonate with their audience, regardless of their consumption habits.
  3. Enhanced Engagement and Connection: Visual content fosters a stronger emotional connection with the audience. When viewers can see the speaker's expressions and body language, they feel more connected and engaged. This connection can be particularly important for building a loyal audience base, as it humanizes the content creator and encourages listeners/viewers to form a deeper bond.
  4. Tapping into SEO and Discoverability: Both audio and video podcasts provide opportunities for discoverability. Podcast directories, YouTube, and social media platforms have robust search functionalities that enable content to be found by relevant audiences. Utilizing proper titles, descriptions, and tags can significantly improve the chances of content being discovered through organic searches.
  5. Versatile Content Repurposing: Creating content in both video and audio formats opens the door to repurposing. Video podcasts can be edited into shorter clips for social media sharing or transformed into blog posts. Audio content can be transcribed and used as written content or repackaged as downloadable resources. This versatility maximizes the utility of each piece of content.
  6. Accessibility and Inclusivity: While video podcasts enhance engagement, they can also pose accessibility challenges for those with hearing impairments. Providing audio versions of the same content ensures that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can access and enjoy the content.

Conclusion: The landscape of content creation is evolving, and creators must adapt to the preferences of their audience. By utilizing both video and audio podcasts, content creators can create a comprehensive content strategy that reaches a wider audience, resonates on multiple levels, and provides greater engagement opportunities. The synergy between these formats opens doors for creative storytelling and ensures that content can be enjoyed by diverse audiences across various platforms. As content consumption habits continue to evolve, embracing this holistic approach will position creators for success in the ever-expanding digital realm.

22 Dec 2023131 Breaking Through the Noise: Mastering Social Media Marketing for Podcast Success00:29:38

Podcasters can benefit from using a variety of social media platforms to market their podcasts and engage with their audience. The choice of platforms may depend on factors such as the type of content, target audience demographics, and the creator's preferred communication style.

  1. X (Twitter): X is a real-time platform that allows podcasters to share short, concise updates, episode announcements, and engage with their audience through tweets. It's also an excellent platform for using hashtags to reach a broader audience and participate in relevant conversations.
  2. Instagram: Instagram is a visual platform, making it suitable for podcasters who can create visually appealing graphics, audiograms, and short video clips to promote their episodes. Instagram Stories and Reels provide additional opportunities for interactive and long-form content.
  3. LinkedIn: LinkedIn is a professional networking platform that is effective for podcasters focusing on business, industry, or educational content. It's a platform where thought leadership can be established, and episodes can be shared with a more professional audience.
  4. Facebook: Facebook offers a diverse range of content options, allowing podcasters to share episode links, engage with listeners through comments, and build a community around their podcast using Facebook Groups. It's also a platform where longer-form content can be shared.
  5. YouTube: While primarily a video platform, YouTube is increasingly used by podcasters to create video versions of their episodes, audiograms, or highlight clips. This can attract a new audience and provide additional visibility.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of each platform depends on the unique characteristics of your podcast and your target audience. Podcasters often use a combination of these platforms to maximize their reach and engagement. It's also beneficial to leverage podcast directories and platforms specifically dedicated to audio content, such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and others, to ensure your podcast is discoverable by those actively seeking audio content. Additionally, creating a dedicated website or blog for your podcast can serve as a centralized hub for information and links to episodes.

06 Aug 2021Ep. 28: Best app to record audio on your smartphone, and Russ from the Infectious Groove Podcast stops by. 01:01:56

This week I dust off an old app I got for my iPhone that records audio - Recorder HQ app. This app is available for your smartphone to record audio and save it to the cloud drive of your choice. Not only does it record audio, but it allows you to choose the file type. For example if you know .mp3 is what you need to upload for a podcast, you can record it as a .mp3. Or if you wanna do some serious audio editing on the recording you can save it as a .wav file. Then you tell the app which cloud drive you prefer to save it to. Like Google Drive for example. Then you can easily pull up the audio to have it on your computer to edit for your podcast.

Then I'm joined by Russ from The Infectious Groove Podcast.  As a music podcast we chat all about music, podcasting, and musical guests he's had on his amazing podcast.  Russ is the lead host of the podcast along with him is Kyle and Michelle. All together they host a fantastic podcast you have to go check out if you love music. "They love music. You love music. Let's talk about it. From current events, crazy show stories, what we're currently listening to and anything else that is on our minds—there may even be a special guest on to answer all of your burning questions. The only way to know is to tune in weekly and find out." - The Infectious Groove Podcast

25 Jan 2024135 Shielding Your Sound: 10 Crucial Steps to Safeguard Your Podcast from Guest Speaker Lawsuits00:22:32

Podcasters and content creators should prioritize preparing their chosen guests to proactively mitigate the risk of potential lawsuits arising post-interview. By openly discussing expectations and obtaining informed consent through a well-crafted release form, creators establish a foundation for a positive and legally sound collaboration. Ensuring guests are aware of the topics to be covered, the format of the discussion, and any potential sensitive areas not only fosters a respectful environment but also minimizes the likelihood of misunderstandings leading to legal complications. This proactive approach not only protects the podcast from potential legal repercussions but also cultivates a professional and trustworthy reputation, fostering positive relationships with guests and audience alike.

When recording a guest interview for release on a podcast, there are several best practices to consider, including adherence to recording laws and ethical standards. Here are some recommendations:

  1. Informed Consent: Obtain informed consent from your guest before recording the interview. Clearly explain the purpose of the recording, how it will be used, and obtain their agreement in writing (via a release form).
  2. Recording Laws: Familiarize yourself with local and federal laws regarding recording conversations. Some jurisdictions require the consent of all parties involved in a conversation, so ensure you comply with applicable laws.
  3. Release Forms: Use comprehensive release forms that cover the use of the interview recording, including distribution through your podcast. Clearly outline the rights granted by the guest and any limitations on the use of their content.
  4. Respect Privacy: Be respectful of your guest's privacy. Avoid asking intrusive or sensitive questions unless they have explicitly agreed to discuss those topics. Consider editing out any information that could compromise their privacy.
  5. Setting Expectations: Clearly communicate the format and style of the interview to your guest in advance. Let them know if you plan to edit the recording and discuss any potential sensitive topics that may come up.
  6. Recording Environment:  Choose a quiet and controlled environment for recording to ensure high-quality audio. Minimize background noise and interruptions. Test your equipment beforehand to avoid technical issues.
  7. Transparency: Be transparent with your guest about the recording process. Inform them of any potential edits or post-production modifications you might make to the interview.
  8. Editing Ethically: If you edit the interview, do so ethically. Avoid taking statements out of context or manipulating the content in a way that misrepresents your guest. Maintain the integrity of the conversation.
  9. Professionalism: Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor throughout the interview. Treat your guest with courtesy, and create an environment where they feel comfortable expressing their thoughts.
  10. Backup Recordings: Consider making backup recordings in case of technical issues. Having redundant recordings can be a valuable precaution to ensure you don't lose important content.

Remember, these are general guidelines, and you should seek legal advice to ensure compliance with specific laws and regulations in your jurisdiction. Additionally, ethical considerations are crucial to building trust with your guests and audience.

02 Oct 2023121: Elevate Your Vibe: 8 Ways to Infuse Energy into Your Podcast00:15:55

Creating a high-energy podcast can be challenging if the host isn't naturally energetic. However, there are several strategies you can employ to infuse energy into your podcast, even if you're not naturally high-energy. Here are some tips:

  1. Preparation and Passion: Thoroughly research and prepare for each episode. Knowing your material well can boost your confidence and energy. Choose topics that genuinely interest and excite you. Your passion for the subject can translate into a more engaging delivery.
  2. Vary Your Tone: While you may not be naturally high-energy, you can still vary your tone to add emphasis and interest to different parts of your podcast. Use inflection to convey excitement or curiosity, even if it's not at an extremely energetic level.
  3. Speak Clearly and Enthusiastically: Ensure your voice is clear and easy to understand. Enunciate your words, and speak with confidence. Even if you're not naturally energetic, you can still convey enthusiasm through your tone and pacing.
  4. Add Dynamic Elements: Incorporate music, sound effects, or brief audio clips to add energy to your podcast. These elements can create a more dynamic listening experience. Experiment with different audio editing techniques to enhance the overall production quality.
  5. Embrace Your Authentic Style: While it's essential to add energy, it's equally important to stay true to your authentic style. Authenticity can be engaging, even if it's not super energetic. Find the right balance that works for you and your audience.
  6. Incorporate Humor: Infuse humor into your podcast, even if it's more subtle or dry. Humor can lift the energy level and make your content more enjoyable. Share personal anecdotes or funny stories to connect with your audience.
  7. Engage with Your Audience: Encourage audience participation through Q&A sessions, polls, or feedback. Interaction can bring a livelier atmosphere to your podcast. Respond to listener comments and questions during the podcast to create a sense of community.
  8. Practice and Feedback: Practice your delivery to become more comfortable and confident. Practice can help you find the right rhythm and pacing for your podcast. Seek feedback from trusted friends or colleagues. They may provide valuable insights on how to enhance your energy level.

Remember, it's okay to be yourself. Your unique style and perspective can be a significant asset to your podcast. By incorporating these tips and finding what works best for you, you can create a podcast that is engaging and enjoyable for your audience.

20 Jun 2022Ep. 65: The illusion of Audio for your podcast and why it works. 00:21:03

Thank you so much for joining me today! Here on Podtastic Audio I'm here to help you out with your podcast to create decent audio for your show without spending lots and lots of money on gear and stuff you don't even need. The power of good audio can create an illusion to the listener that transports them into another space. The audience doesn't need to know all the details of your podcast gear. As long as it sounds good to theml, they will keep on coming back time and time again.

In this episode I reference the car culture community. And how you can use performance parts to add more power to your car to make it go much faster. And these parts usually come with decals to place on the side of your ride. To show the world, you have this part, and your car is fast. But some people just put the stickers on the car, without the upgraded parts. To make their car appear its fast. In the car culture, aftermarket performance accessories, all are to gain more horsepower. Whether it’s adding a new exhaust system, turbo, or supercharger. They all add more power to the vehicle. One of the oldest myths about car people is they believe anything can add more power to the car. Including placing performance stickers. As the saying goes. Each sticker can add up to 5 horsepower to your car. How is that even possible? In reality it doesn’t add any kind of performance.

Or does it? By adding a performance decal to your ride might give other cars the illusion that your fast. So then you must be fast.

If you make your show sound good. And make it sound bigger than it really is. Nobody is going to know any difference. The power of audio and theater of the mind. You can be as big as your imagination.

Make your Podcast sound as big as you need it to be. The audience will keep coming back. If you have a podcast and you would like to have me review it, let me know on social media under Podtastic Audio or email me podtasticaudio@gmail.com

06 May 2022Ep. 59: Drinking while Podcasting - Trip to London to chat with Linden Cole of The Icarus Complex Podcast01:02:25

Thank You so much for listening this week. I hope I can give you some advice on how to create the best sounding show you can make. Today as it's Cinco de Mayo as I record this. It's typically a day for drinking. So there are a lot of different podcast shows, and some are drinking shows. I would not recommend drinking while you podcast and I explain why. If your dealing with recorded audio, nobody sounds good drunk.

Late I'm joined by Linden Cole, via Cleanfeed. No I didn't take a trip to London, and Linden didn't take a trip to San Diego. But we make the audio so good, that it sounds like we are in the same room. Linden is an author and host of the podcast The Icarus Complex Podcast. It's a bunch of short stories that Linden has written and narrated for an audio book. But put into a podcast form. He puts a lot of work into each episode even down to the year of the background music to set each scene.  https://linktr.ee/Icaruscomplexpodcast

01 Nov 2023124 Podcast Promotion Pitfalls: Navigating the 7 Worst Ways to Market Your Audio Show00:17:54

We all want to know the best ways to market our audio podcast. And there are a lot of shows out there that focus on the marketing side of podcasting. But rarely do they focus on how to create a "good" show from the start.  So today's episode I give you 7 of the worst ways to market you podcast.

  1. Ignoring Target Audience: Failing to identify and target the appropriate audience for your podcast can be a major marketing mistake. Broadcasting to a demographic that has little interest in your content can result in low engagement and limited growth.
  2. Overlooking SEO Optimization: Neglecting to optimize your podcast episodes for search engines can hinder discoverability. Avoiding relevant keywords, poor episode titles, and inadequate show descriptions can make it difficult for potential listeners to find your content.
  3. Inconsistent Release Schedule: A haphazard release schedule can lead to frustration among your audience. Inconsistency in publishing episodes may cause listeners to lose interest or forget about your podcast. Consistency is key for building a loyal audience.
  4. Neglecting Social Media: Failing to leverage social media platforms to promote your podcast is a missed opportunity. Social media can be a powerful tool for engaging with your audience, sharing updates, and creating a community around your content. Ignoring these platforms can limit your podcast's growth potential.
  5. Ignoring Audio Quality: Poor audio quality can be a major turn-off for listeners. Neglecting to invest in good equipment or skipping the editing process can result in a subpar listening experience, causing listeners to abandon your podcast.
  6. Overlooking Collaborations and Cross-Promotion: Not reaching out to other podcasters for collaborations or cross-promotion can limit your exposure. Building relationships within the podcasting community can help you tap into new audiences and grow your listener base.
  7. Lack of Engaging Content: Focusing solely on self-promotion or neglecting the quality and relevance of your content can lead to a decline in listenership. Ensure that your podcast provides value, entertainment, or useful information to keep your audience engaged and coming back for more.

19 Feb 2024138 Monetizing Mistakes: 7 Common Pitfalls Podcasters Encounter When Trying to Make Money00:21:45

Understanding your audience is paramount before attempting to monetize a podcast. By knowing your audience intimately, you gain invaluable insights into their preferences, interests, and pain points. This knowledge enables you to tailor your monetization strategies effectively, ensuring they resonate with your listeners rather than coming across as intrusive or irrelevant. Moreover, understanding your audience allows you to create targeted advertising opportunities or develop premium content offerings that align seamlessly with their needs and preferences, maximizing your chances of success in monetizing your show. Ultimately, prioritizing audience understanding establishes a strong foundation for sustainable monetization and fosters deeper engagement and loyalty among your listeners.

Monetizing a podcast can be a challenging endeavor, and many podcasters make common mistakes along the way. Here are seven common pitfalls:

  1. Lack of Diversification: Relying solely on one monetization method, such as advertising or Patreon, can limit your revenue potential. Diversifying your revenue streams through a combination of advertising, listener support, merchandise sales, sponsorships, and affiliate marketing can provide stability and maximize earnings.
  2. Ignoring Audience Preferences: Failing to consider your audience's preferences and interests when choosing monetization strategies can lead to disengagement and alienation. It's essential to strike a balance between monetization efforts and providing value to your listeners. Conduct surveys, engage with your audience on social media, and gather feedback to understand their preferences and tailor monetization strategies accordingly.
  3. Overlooking Quality Content: Prioritizing monetization over content quality can harm listener retention and growth. While monetization is crucial, consistently delivering high-quality, engaging content should remain the primary focus. Focus on building a loyal audience base by creating valuable, relevant content that resonates with your listeners.
  4. Ignoring Analytics and Data: Neglecting to track and analyze listener data, such as demographics, listening habits, and engagement metrics, can hinder monetization efforts. Utilize analytics tools provided by podcast hosting platforms or third-party services to gain insights into your audience and optimize monetization strategies accordingly. Data-driven decision-making can help identify lucrative opportunities and refine your approach over time.
  5. Inconsistent Release Schedule: Inconsistency in releasing new podcast episodes can impact listener engagement and hinder monetization efforts. Establish a regular publishing schedule and stick to it to maintain audience interest and momentum. Consistency builds trust with your audience and makes it easier to implement monetization strategies effectively.
  6. Lack of Marketing and Promotion: Failing to effectively market and promote your podcast can limit its reach and monetization potential. Invest time and effort in promoting your podcast across various channels, including social media, email newsletters, collaborations with other podcasters, and attending industry events. Increasing visibility and attracting new listeners can lead to greater monetization opportunities through advertising, sponsorships, and listener support.
  7. Ignoring Monetization Trends: Neglecting to stay informed about emerging monetization trends and industry developments can result in missed opportunities. Keep abreast of the latest monetization strategies, platforms, and technologies relevant to the podcasting industry. Experiment with new approaches, such as live events, premium subscriptions, or exclusive content offerings, to capitalize on evolving trends and diversify your revenue streams.

By avoiding these common mistakes and adopting a strategic approach to monetization, podcasters can maximize their earning potential while delivering value to their audience.

24 Jun 2024156 | The Power of Personal Stories: Key Takeaways for Podcasters Looking to Connect with Their Audience00:11:58

In this episode of Podtastic Audio, I, Chris, dive deep into the art of storytelling to help you elevate your podcast. As I broadcast from the bustling streets of New York City, I can't help but share some personal anecdotes, including my early days working at a pizza place called "Wanna Pizza." Those experiences not only shaped my love for pizza but also taught me valuable lessons about authenticity and connection.

I emphasize the importance of being genuine and relatable to build trust and a strong connection with your audience. Throughout the episode, I outline three key points: the role of authenticity, the relatability of your story, and practical tips for maintaining an authentic voice. By sharing my own stories, I illustrate how personal experiences can make your podcast more engaging and relatable.

I believe that good storytelling is the cornerstone of a successful podcast. When you share real-life experiences, you create a bond with your listeners that goes beyond mere content consumption. They start to see you as a real person with genuine experiences, and that builds trust.

One of the key points I discuss is the role of authenticity. In the podcasting space, authenticity is often touted as a crucial element for success. When you tell authentic stories that come directly from your own life, you build trust with your audience. They start to see you as someone they can relate to, someone who understands their struggles and triumphs.

Another important aspect is the relatability of your story. Knowing your audience is crucial here. If you understand who your listeners are and what they need, you can craft your stories to resonate with them. For example, if you're doing a podcast about pizza, sharing stories about your own mishaps and successes in the pizza world can make your content more engaging and relatable.

I also provide practical tips for maintaining an authentic voice. One of the most important things is to be yourself. Don't try to mimic someone else's style or content. Your audience will see right through it. Instead, focus on being original and true to yourself. Use engaging dialogues and conversational language to make your stories come alive.

Lastly, I talk about the importance of audience feedback. Your listeners can provide valuable insights that you can weave into your stories. This not only makes your content more relevant but also shows your audience that you value their input.

As I wrap up this episode, I encourage you to think about your own personal stories and how they can enhance your podcast. Sharing your unique experiences can help you build a strong connection with your audience, making your podcast truly stand out. So, until the next episode, happy podcasting!

10 Feb 2024137 Unlocking YouTube's Potential: Our Journey with the New Podcast RSS Integration and Results00:31:03

YouTube's recent integration of RSS feeds has revolutionized the platform by embracing audio podcasting, offering creators like us on The Kris And Kristine Show unprecedented opportunities for growth and engagement. In this episode, we delve into our decision to leverage this feature, sharing the remarkable results we've witnessed over the past few weeks since implementing it. From expanded reach to increased audience interaction, the integration of our podcast directly onto YouTube has not only elevated our show's visibility but has also fostered a deeper connection with our listeners, signaling a promising trajectory for our content moving forward.

Placing an audio-only show with a still image onto a YouTube channel can offer several benefits for an audio podcaster:

  1. Expanded Reach and Audience Growth: YouTube is one of the largest search engines in the world and a popular platform for consuming content. By uploading your audio podcast with a still image, you tap into YouTube's vast audience, potentially reaching new listeners who prefer consuming content through video platforms. This can lead to increased visibility and growth of your podcast audience. 2
  2. SEO and Discoverability: YouTube videos are indexed by search engines like Google, which means your podcast episodes can appear in search results related to your podcast's topic or keywords. By optimizing your video titles, descriptions, and tags, you can improve the discoverability of your podcast content and attract more listeners who may not have found your audio podcast through traditional podcast directories.
  3. Monetization Opportunities: YouTube offers various monetization options for content creators, including ad revenue, channel memberships, and merchandise sales. By building a presence on YouTube with your audio podcast, you can explore these monetization opportunities and diversify your revenue streams. Additionally, you can use YouTube's built-in analytics to gather insights about your audience and tailor your content or monetization strategy accordingly.
  4. Enhanced Engagement and Interaction: YouTube provides a platform for fostering community engagement and interaction with your audience. Viewers can leave comments, like/dislike videos, and share content with others, allowing you to connect with your listeners on a deeper level. By actively engaging with your audience through YouTube's comment section and community features, you can build a loyal fan base and strengthen your podcast community.
  5. Cross-Promotion and Brand Building: Uploading your audio podcast to YouTube allows you to cross-promote your content across different platforms and channels. You can share links to your YouTube videos on social media, your podcast website, and in email newsletters, driving traffic back to your YouTube channel and increasing exposure for your podcast. Additionally, having a presence on YouTube can enhance your podcast's brand visibility and credibility, establishing you as a reputable content creator in your niche.

Overall, placing your audio-only show with a still image onto a YouTube channel can offer numerous benefits for audio podcasters, including expanded reach, improved discoverability, monetization opportunities, enhanced engagement, and cross-promotion capabilities.

04 Apr 2023Ep. 99: Local vs. Remote Guests: Is Recording Quality Worth the Distance?00:20:28

This is Episode 99! Wow I've almost made it to officially creating 100 amazing podcast episodes about helping you create an amazing podcast of your own. Today we are going to have a little fun. This entire episode was recorded live in one take. To illustrate the similarities to podcast guesting remotely to locally. I have two different clips from two different podcast interviews that we did on The Kris and Kristine Show. You have to decide which of them was recorded locally, and which was done remotely with Cleanfeed

There are several differences and benefits to having podcast guests remotely or in person. Here are some of them:

Remote guests:

Convenience: One of the biggest advantages of having remote guests is that it's much easier to schedule interviews with people who may live in different time zones or have busy schedules. You can conduct interviews from anywhere in the world, without having to worry about travel time or expenses.

Diversity: With remote guests, you have access to a much larger pool of potential guests, which can lead to a more diverse range of perspectives and experiences on your podcast.

Technology: With the right tools and equipment, remote interviews can sound just as good as in-person interviews. You can use platforms like Zoom, Skype, or Zencastr to record high-quality audio and video, which can be edited and polished in post-production.

In-person guests:

Connection: When you're interviewing someone face-to-face, there's a level of personal connection that can be difficult to replicate remotely. You can read body language, make eye contact, and build rapport in a way that's not always possible over a screen.

Energy: In-person interviews often have a higher energy level than remote interviews, which can make for a more engaging and dynamic conversation.

Atmosphere: When you're recording in-person, you have control over the recording environment, which can help ensure good audio quality and reduce distractions.

Ultimately, whether you choose to have podcast guests remotely or in person depends on your specific needs and goals. Remote interviews can be convenient and offer a wider range of guests, while in-person interviews can provide a deeper connection and more dynamic energy.

03 Feb 2024136.2 Beyond the Mic: The Realities of Co-hosting with Dr. Kristine of The Kris and Kristine Show00:55:17

One key element that can elevate a podcast to success is the dynamic between dual hosts. Crafting a positive podcast dynamic requires careful consideration of various factors such as getting to know each other, defining roles and responsibilities, effective communication, authenticity, and navigating challenges.

  1. Getting to Know Each Other: The foundation of a successful dual-hosted podcast lies in the hosts' understanding of each other. Take the time to delve into each other's backgrounds, interests, and personal experiences. A strong personal connection will not only foster camaraderie but will also contribute to a more natural and engaging conversation. Share anecdotes, discuss shared interests, and establish a genuine friendship, as this connection will resonate with your audience.
  2. Roles and Responsibilities: Clearly defined roles and responsibilities are essential for avoiding confusion and ensuring a seamless podcasting experience. Discuss and outline each host's strengths, interests, and areas of expertise. Establishing who leads the conversation, manages technical aspects, and handles social media promotion can help create a well-organized and efficient workflow. By recognizing each other's strengths, hosts can complement one another, providing a more balanced and diverse perspective for the audience.
  3. Communication: Effective communication is the backbone of any successful partnership. Regularly check in with each other to discuss the podcast's direction, potential topics, and overall goals. Set up a communication channel, whether it be through regular meetings, messaging apps, or shared documents, to facilitate collaboration. Transparent communication ensures that both hosts are on the same page and helps prevent misunderstandings that may arise during live recordings.
  4. Authenticity: Authenticity is the key to connecting with your audience. Listeners appreciate hosts who are genuine, relatable, and true to themselves. Embrace your unique personalities, quirks, and perspectives. Authenticity fosters a connection with your audience, making them feel like they are part of an honest and authentic conversation. Share personal stories, experiences, and even vulnerabilities to create a more profound connection with your listeners.
  5. Navigating Challenges: No partnership is without its challenges. Disagreements may arise, technical difficulties may occur, or external factors may impact the podcast's flow. Establish a protocol for resolving conflicts, whether it's through open communication, compromise, or seeking external advice. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth and improvement, and learn from each experience to strengthen your podcasting dynamic.

Crafting a positive podcast dynamic with dual hosts involves a thoughtful combination of getting to know each other, defining roles and responsibilities, fostering effective communication, embracing authenticity, and navigating challenges. By investing time in building a strong foundation, dual hosts can create a podcast that not only resonates with their audience but also stands the test of time. Remember, the synergy between hosts is the heartbeat of a successful podcast, and when done right, it can lead to a truly memorable and impactful listening experience.

18 May 2021Ep. 19: A Honest review is always better than a Fake one. 00:19:33

This week I talk about review swaps and how they are completely dishonest. Recently I've had a few different podcasters reach out and ask if I would do a review swap on Apple Podcasts. Without even asking if I would be interested in their type of show. Review swaps are a bad idea because its totally fake. Reviews do not increase you in the Apple charts, they only make you feel good. Wouldn't you rather feel better knowing you got an actual honest review instead of a fake one?

29 Apr 2024148 The Power of the Start: Elevating Your Podcast Intro to Hook Your Audience00:25:42

In this episode of "Podtastic Audio," I, Chris from the Kris and Kristine Show, dive deep into the intricacies of podcast production, sharing valuable insights from my own experiences and expertise. I begin by discussing the critical importance of a podcast's initial moments, advising against starting episodes with ads, as they can prompt listeners to skip ahead, potentially missing crucial content. Instead, I advocate for captivating introductions that hook the listener right from the start.

Throughout the episode, I emphasize the dual priorities of good content and superior audio quality, which are essential for retaining an audience. I provide a detailed walkthrough on how to achieve professional sound, including tips on mixing audio and selecting the right equipment. Additionally, I discuss the strategic use of engaging titles and visually appealing episode artwork, drawing parallels to successful tactics used in YouTube content creation.

A significant portion of the podcast is dedicated to leveraging technology, particularly focusing on the use of AI through platforms like Eleven Labs. I explain how AI can be utilized to create compelling podcast introductions and even entire episodes, offering a step-by-step guide on how to use these tools effectively to enhance production value without incurring high costs.

I also share my thoughts on ad placement, suggesting that mid-roll positions are better for listener retention than pre-roll spots. I wrap up the episode by encouraging podcasters to infuse their unique personalities into their shows. This personal touch, according to me, is what truly differentiates one podcast from another and fosters a loyal listener base.

Overall, this episode of "Podtastic Audio" serves as a comprehensive guide for both novice and experienced podcasters, packed with actionable advice aimed at improving the quality and appeal of their podcast productions.

11 Dec 2023130 Audible Excellence: Mastering 7 Tips for Top-Tier Podcast Audio Quality00:25:17

In the realm of podcasts, the significance of impeccable audio quality is inseparable from the overall success of a show, standing as a critical companion to compelling content. While riveting discussions, insightful interviews, or captivating narratives are the lifeblood of any podcast, the quality of the audio delivery is what ensures that this content is not only heard but truly experienced by the audience. A podcast with superior audio quality enhances listener engagement, offering a seamless and immersive experience that fosters a deeper connection between the content and the audience. Clear, crisp audio not only prevents listener fatigue but also serves as a testament to the professionalism and dedication of the podcast creators. In a medium where auditory engagement is paramount, the harmonious marriage of outstanding audio quality and compelling content becomes the linchpin for a podcast's resonance and longevity in the ears and hearts of its audience.

  1. Invest in a Good Microphone: A quality microphone is essential for clear and crisp audio. Microphones like the Samson Q2U or Audio-Technica ATR2100x are popular choices for beginners. These XLR/USB microphones offer even better sound quality and are preferred by more advanced podcasters.
  2. Use Pop Filters and Windshields: Pop filters reduce plosive sounds (like "p" and "b" sounds) and windshields help minimize background noise and wind interference. Both can be attached to your microphone to improve overall sound quality.
  3. Select the Right Recording Environment: Choose a quiet and controlled environment for recording. Avoid spaces with excessive background noise or echo. Consider using blankets, pillows, or acoustic panels to dampen sound reflections.
  4. Position Your Microphone Correctly: Experiment with microphone placement to find the optimal position. Generally, a few inches away from your mouth and slightly off-center can reduce plosive sounds and capture your voice effectively.
  5. Use Audio Editing Software: Post-production is essential for refining your podcast's sound. Use audio editing software (e.g., Audacity, Adobe Audition) to clean up background noise, eliminate pauses, and enhance overall audio quality.
  6. Normalize and Equalize Your Audio: Normalize the volume to ensure consistent levels throughout your podcast. Additionally, use equalization (EQ) to adjust the balance of frequencies, making your voice more clear and natural. Pay attention to bass and treble levels.
  7. Employ Noise Reduction Techniques: Use noise reduction tools in your audio editing software to eliminate background noise and hum. Be cautious not to overuse these tools, as they can sometimes degrade audio quality.

Remember, achieving great sound quality is an iterative process. Regularly listen to your podcasts, gather feedback, and make adjustments as needed. Consistency in sound quality contributes to a more professional and engaging podcast.

06 May 2024149 Marketing Magic: Danielle Clark's Expert Tips for Indie Podcasters01:03:30

Indie podcasters often struggle with marketing their shows, but Danielle Clark from the No More Late Fees podcast shares her expertise to help guide them to success. Danielle and her co-host Jackie draw on their experiences working at Blockbuster in the 90s to create engaging content. To effectively market a podcast, focus on identifying and leveraging its unique aspects, targeting the core audience, and delivering tailored content. Being selective about guests and staying true to the show's identity is crucial. Growing a podcast community involves claiming consistent show names across platforms, crafting informative bios, and having a polished logo. Adapting content for visual social media platforms requires creativity, such as using audio clips, visuals, and carousels. Building an email list is essential to maintain audience connection. Engaging authentically with listeners and avoiding spammy tactics is key to growth. Various strategies like review swaps, submitting to Apple, and conducting listener surveys can also help expand the audience.

16 Apr 2022Ep. 56: A simple mistake while using the Zoom Podtrak P4 and using Show Notes for your podcast. 00:24:27

Happy Easter weekend. I've been on vacation all week long. And we've had a full house of kids as they are also off for spring break. During the week we had a guest interview scheduled and I didnt have access to our regular studio room. So I took my MacBook Pro and my Zoom Podtrak P4 up into our bedroom to record the interview that way. Using Cleanfeed like we've used hundreds of times in the past, the audio didn't sound right. After looking over the settings on Cleanfeed and the computer, I switched to the Full Repair mode and that seemed to fix the problem. But the true problem was that I had not switched the Zoom Podtrak P4 to the Mix Minus mode. A very simple mistake that I had overlooked because I had not used Cleanfeed with the Zoom P4 before. This was my first time using it. Live and Learn.

13 Aug 2021Ep. 29: If it wasn't your own show... would be a listener? 00:18:36

Today on Podtastic Audio respond to a twitter poll I asked podcasters if they actually enjoyed their own podcast? Its a very simple concept, you either like your show, or you don't. And surprisingly 12% said NO. What's up with that? If you create content, make it good enough that you would actually enjoy. Please make a podcast that you wanna listen to. If you do that, you will enjoy it more and create more. Most podcasters that quit probably are the ones who aren't fans of their own shows.

This episode I share how we on The Kris and Kristine Show use our social media to help grow our podcast. Social media can be a very useful tool to share your show and meet other podcasts in your genre. Podcasting is about 20% creating the actual show, and 80% promoting it. Show promotion can be done a variety of ways. But no matter what, be consistent. That is how you will grow. So keep on making fantastic podcasts and I cant wait to hear them!

19 Jan 2024BONUS EPISODE - Would you rather be seen or heard?00:06:13

Video content and audio content, particularly in the form of podcasts, offer distinct ways of engaging audiences. Video provides a visual dimension, allowing viewers to see gestures, expressions, and the overall environment. It captures the nuances of body language and visual storytelling, creating a more immersive experience. On the other hand, audio content, like podcasts, relies solely on the auditory senses, emphasizing storytelling through voices, sound effects, and music. While video is about being seen, audio focuses on being heard, prompting listeners to use their imagination to visualize the narrative. Each medium has its unique strengths, catering to different preferences and contexts of consumption.

08 Apr 2022Ep. 55: Your Podcast Listeners do not enjoy Ads. So why do we do have them?00:17:38

Happy Friday as I record this episode. I will be starting my vacation this week for spring break. This will be one of 4 weeks I'll be taking off this year for my vacations.

Podcasting can be a lot of fun. Although it does take a lot of hard work and effort to create a podcast. We all would like to make some money with our show. It would be fantastic if we could quit our day jobs and just focus on creating podcasts for a living. Only a few shows actually are at that level, and chances are you are not one of them. Don't worry, there are a few ways to make money with your show. You can sell something on your show. Or you can use podcast advertising. Which I feel is not the best way to make money with your podcast.  If you find a sponsor for your podcast to run an add spot. They want to know your downloads. The term CPM is based on cost for every 1000 downloads or plays. The average rate is $15-20. So if your lucky enough to get 1000 plays on a single episode in a 30 day span you make $20 tops. Wow $20. If you're worried about that $20, you have bigger problems than your podcast.

Thank you so much for listening I really appreciate it. If you would like to be a guest here on Podtastic Audio you can always shoot me a message on social media or email. I would love to have you on the show. Or if you would want to have me on your show as a guest, that will work too.

  • Being present on Apple Podcasts not only enhances your podcast's discoverability but also establishes credibility within the podcasting community. Therefore, if you want your podcast to have a significant impact and connect with a diverse and dedicated audience, Apple Podcasts is a must-have platform.

Episode artwork appears on devices with iOS 17 or later on the Now Playing screen and Queue; the Lock Screen and Control Center; in Up Next on Listen Now; on show and episode pages; and through link previews in other apps, including Messages, Mail, and on social media platforms.

This artwork is optional but is a great way to highlight the episode’s content or guests while drawing in listeners with additional visual interest.

When episode artwork is not supplied, Apple Podcasts will continue to display show artwork. Apple Podcasts will also default to show artwork when multiple shows are presented together to help orient listeners.

Creators can publish episode artwork via RSS using their third-party hosting provider. For subscriber episodes, it can be uploaded in Apple Podcasts Connect.

Guidelines

  • Give your episode artwork a distinct visual branding separate from your show and channel artwork. Do not use your show cover as episode art.
  • Episode titles are displayed in the UI under the artwork so avoid repeating the episode title in episode art.
  • The episode art and show art are often displayed together, so listeners can see which show published the episode.
  • Keep all essential design elements within the Art Safe Area. Anything placed outside of the Art Safe Area is subject to cropping and or UI overlays.
  • Avoid placing essential design elements where the Safe Area and UI areas intersect.
  • Note that the UI text color will default to white. Use a background color that allows white UI text to be legible.
