16 Jan 2018 | Health And Fitness, Snacks, and Essentials for Trekking in Peru | 00:16:48
Welcome to the Peru Travel Podcast! In this episode, we cover everything fitness, training, gear, and nutrition to make sure you are successful on your Inca Trail, Salkantay Trek, or Extreme Inca Tour. We discuss the training that you should do so you don't end up hating your life while out on the treks. Your best bet is to slap a backpack on with some weight and go for a hike a few times prior to your trip to Peru. David talks about the nutrition required so that you have enough energy to sustain yourself on a difficulty multiday hike. At Cachi Life, we love Clif Bars and Beef Jerky. Just don't eat all your snacks on the first day. And it's probably best to avoid the booze. What is the best gear to bring that you may not think of? You shouldn't leave without your toothbrush or toothpaste. But, we REALLY like baby wipes. It can be tough to keep that clean feeling when you haven't been able to shower for four days. Finally, we cover why you NEED to book your trip on the Inca Trail at least 6 months ahead. For those of you who missed out, there is the Salkantay Trek, which may be even more beautiful. Welcome to the Peru Travel Podcast! You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, or TuneIn, or listen in the media player above. Many people have questions in regards to what they can and cannot bring inside the Machu Picchu complex. The number one item to bring in to Machu Picchu? Your passport. There is absolutely no way that you will be able to get a ticket to see Machu Picchu without a passport. Be sure to be on the lookout for the Machu Picchu passport stamp once you are there. Be sure to bring a backpack to hold your hat, sunscreen, snacks, and water. However, take care that the backpack is not too large. There are certain dimensions allowed for your pack inside Machu Picchu, and it isn’t big. We cover how to all the furry critters and creatures you might see in Machu Picchu including chinchillas. When you’re in Peru it can rain, especially during the rainy season, so be sure to pack a poncho or rain jacket. Finally, don’t forget your cash, cuz you ain’t going to the bathroom without a few soles. Be sure to listen to the end to find out the “interesting” clothing items that you should not wear if you want to get inside. 18 Apr 2018 | Peru Packing Must Haves for Your Bag | 00:12:28
Welcome to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above. Most people know the standard items to pack when traveling abroad. But many people tend to overlook a few items such as their credit card costs, how to communicate such as through translation, or how to save your stomach from traveler’s diarrhea. One of the big-ticket items to bring when traveling to Peru includes baby wipes. Especially when trekking or due to the smog, baby wipes help to feel fresh after a long day of activity. If you’re out trekking on the Inca Trail or Salkantay Trek, we recommend you bring some baby powder. If you end up chafing, you’re not gonna feel good on a multi-day hike. That’s gonna hurt… If you don’t speak Spanish, don’t get nervous. That’s why we love the power of the internet. Google Translate is an excellent resource to help you communicate. It’s also a good idea to bring some cash. Cash is king. But we do lay out some cost-saving tips if you have a credit card. Finally, if you want to try all the amazing street food, don’t forget your Pepto-Bismol tablets. It’s gonna save your stomach. Download our free Inca Trail Packing List here. 07 May 2018 | Peru Trip Lessons Learned | 00:20:46
Welcome back to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above. The guys just returned from a trip to Peru and continue to learn new tips and tricks everytime they take a visit. If you get a little homesick while in Cusco and you just want a little taste of home. Be wary of the pizza in the city square. There is only one spot they have been able to find that uses pizza made with mozzarella cheese. Acclimating once in Cusco is advised. Especially, when hiking at 16,000 feet. The guys didn’t take their own advice and allow two days to acclimate before attempting Rainbow Mountain. Listen to hear how much they struggled. When using taxis, they found out that Uber is likely the best option to get from place to place whether in Lima or Cusco. They got to meet some of the travelers that went to Machu Picchu with their company. And finally, they make a return trip to Central. Be sure to listen to see what they thought of their second trip. 14 May 2018 | Why Cachi Guides Rock | 00:20:49
Welcome to back to the Peru Travel Podcast. You can subscribe to the podcast at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Google, TuneIn, or listen in the media player above. The guys continue to reminisce about their recent trip to Peru. The guys test out their newly offered Extreme Inca Tour with one of their guides while in Peru. They go whitewater rafting, hiking, learn about coffee, and go ziplining. After the experience, they contrast and compare to what you may get compared to other tour companies in Peru. They talk to a few groups who are doing a similar tour with another company. Come to find out the other company uses hotels with cold showers and has no WiFi. In addition, the other company's guide doesn’t speak much English, and even when they were supposed to get a guided tour of Machu Picchu…… the tour guide bounced. The guys talk about how this will not happen with Cachi. You will have warm showers, nice beds, WiFi, English-speaking tour guides, and your guide will be with you every step of the way. At the end of the day, a trip to Peru is a trip of a lifetime and they want to make sure that you are taken care of when you go.
