Roy Englebrecht has been promoting combat sports in Orange County for  over 40 years. This interview might not be about hardcore music per se,  but, what Roy has accomplished is pretty hardcore, he's done it all in  Orange County, CA, and myself, Mike Hartsfield, PT Pugh and Jason  Hampton (Outspoken, The Supression Swing, Revolution Mother) all snuck  in and worked a show for Roy in 1994 under the guise that we were the  UCI Track Team!

Sound Matrix was a practice spot in Fountain Valley, CA that hosted a  multitude of OC and non-OC hardcore bands. Sadly it is no longer in  business, but it was a great place for bands to "tune up" their sets  before playing shows in the southland.

In 2000, Excursion Records owner Dave Larson released THE EDGE OF  QUARREL. This film looked at the relationship between the SXE scene and  Punks in the Seattle, WA. Featuring such bands as TRIAL, THE MURDER CITY DEVILS and BOTCH, THE  EDGE OF QUARREL would catch lightning in a bottle amidst the sub-culture  it was had both fictionalized and documented.    THE EDGE OF QUARREL director sits down and talks about making this  seminal hardcore/punk film.
