02 Nov 2024Wherever You Are, You Belong With Us00:25:35

SHOW NOTES:

You might ask, “I see that this is podcast is set to help those who follow Jesus. But how do you follow Jesus when you feel all alone?  How do you follow Jesus as a Native American on your reservation?  How do you follow Jesus as a First Nation disciple on your reserve?  How do you follow Jesus in the city where you could be around hundreds, thousands, or hundreds of thousands of people—yet feel all alone? If I feel alone, how can I feel that I belong?” I believe that you can move from feeling alone to feeling that you belong.

In this episode, you will discover how you can start to feel that you belong.

07 Apr 2025Episode 26 How the Resurrection of Jesus helps you today00:37:28

SHOW NOTES:

Have you ever received love you did not earn or deserve?

Relationships can be contractual or transactional where you give and the other person gives back. Then, they give and you give back. Subsequently, you give and don't receive anything back so you walk. You move on. Conversely, they give and you don't give back and they ghost you. They leave you.

But I believe a relationship with God is an unconditional love where God has sacrificed all for you so that you can experience genuine love not a love that is a contract where transactions abound.

Discover how God's love in the resurrection of Jesus can empower you to live life differently. How the power of Jesus' resurrection can help you today.

28 Nov 2024BONUS Episode--Thanks to you00:27:09

SHOW NOTES:

You know how to say thanks. But you need to say thanks more.  A simple thank you—especially if it’s sincere and not manipulative—will provide the benefactor with a good vibe.

  • You know people who are struggling financially
  • You know people who lack significant connections with others
  • You know people who are stressed and anxious
  • You know people who feel unhappy
  • You know people who feel sad because the weather is changing
  • You know people who are disappointed that something didn’t work out
  • You know people who are working so many hours and speeding towards burnout
  • You know people who are dealing with trauma from past life experiences
  • You know the world is pushing you to achieve status, beauty, and wild success; but you find no status, struggle with body image, and you feel like a failure
  • You know people who struggle to put food on the table

Such circumstances can lead one to be ungrateful.

But there is another pathway that leads to greater hope!

Say, "Thanks." In this episode, I will share how you can be grateful even when life's outcomes are lacking. When you are not actively grateful, you leave space for discontent to flourish. This can detract from your mental well-being. You start pushing people away. If ingratitude makes you negative, you may put negative vibes into the world. We don't need more bad vibes. We need good vibes! Listen how you can say thanks and bring light into a gloomy world.

03 Feb 2025LIVE OUT LOVE: Exploring love as the foundation for your faith00:26:39

SHOW NOTES:

February is often touted as a month of roses, chocolate, and appreciation, but for many, it can be much less colorful. For you, the month of love might be another 28 days of loneliness, and oftentimes grief.

You might feel like your losses become newly refreshed, and an empty house feels more empty. Loneliness and grief share far more connections than many often talk about – including both increasing the risk of substance abuse, decreased immune function, talk of suicide, and depression triggered by dark nights and overcast days.

But you can discover how to move from feeling isolated and move towards being connected to other followers of Jesus. Listen up! You can know that God loves you and you are not alone.

SHOW NOTES:

If you have ever asked, "Why do I suffer and not others?," then listen to this episode of Natives Follow Jesus. Amid your suffering you may ask, “Why does God allow me to suffer and not others?”

Your question is valid.  Your question needs to be asked. Your question needs to be spoken into the world. Your question needs to be addressed to God.

You can discover peace knowing that God sees you wherever you are and you are not alone.

You may feel like the New Year brings more fears than freedom. You may fear that the New Year will only bring the worse from this past year repeating the negative experiences of the past. You may be afraid of what next year may bring.  You might feel anxious, overwhelmed, or paralyzed.

But, I believe there is hope!

In this episode, I want to offer you some hope for the future. I want to give you hope that the New Year can bring good things for your walk with Jesus. I want to look back to move forward as you follow Jesus into the New Year.

Proverbs has 31 chapters, and seven months of the year have 31 days, so your reading schedule those months is straightforward. In months that have 30 days, I read chapters 30–31 on the last day. In February, I read chapters 28–31 on the last day." From "Why You Should Read Psalms and Proverbs Daily," Influence Magazine Online.

SHOW NOTES:

I believe Natives who Follow Jesus can “speak the truth in love” when it comes to history in the Americas and Christianity today. In four episodes I will be talking about Myths of Native America and Misconceptions of Christianity.  Since I live in both worlds as a Navajo who is a Christian, I believe that I can add unique insight and perspective to the myths and misconceptions that I have chosen.

So let me briefly address my take on a myth of Native America and a misconception of Christianity in today’s episode:

  • Indian Casinos Make All Indians Rich?
  • Christianity is no fun, it's all legalistic!
