I struggle with control. Can anyone else relate? With the events of this past weekend, it feels as if there is no control in the world right now. But there is something we can do! 

The hunting season is almost here for all of us, and for some of us, it has already begun! In this episode, I share a story from this past weekend's youth hunt with my youngest son. We had the best time, but then a nasty little voice tried to creep into my mind. That ugly voice tells you that everyone else is killing deer but you and that you need to get it done, or you are nothing. 

Ryan Snow is a hunter from South Carolina. Ryan has only been hunting for four years and has stacked up four big bucks, with one in the mid-160s. Ryan has had exceptional success in the deer woods in a short period of time. Ryan shares his journey with us today and gives us a peek into the mindset of a big-buck killer!

How did you fail today? It's an uncomfortable question to ask ourselves, but if you're not failing, you're not learning. I spent many years afraid to fail in the deer woods, and it held me back from getting on good deer. I was scared to fail and bump bucks and mess everything up. My avoidance of failure meant I was never really in the game. After interviewing elite level hunters for this podcast, I have found that all of them are not afraid of failure and press the envelope when hunting. They are not scared of failure and even seek it out!

1. Walk the parameters of the property, looking for and marking major runs on our mapping app. 
2. Walk the major runs back looking for doe bedding. 
3. Find doe bedding with rubs and scraps on the outside of the bedding. 
4. Walk the runs leading into the bedding back 200-300 yards to find the why. 
5. Identify your stand tree and mark the best access path.
