On this weeks episode we talk with Zach Krzyzanowski about his incredible last two seasons bow and gun hunting  whitetails in two different states.  Zach talks about moving to Illinois, starting a new job, making friends and searching for ground to hunt in a place he has never been before.  This is part one of two episodes.

In this episode I have the honor of interviewing my father John Tanner.  We talk about his journey as a young man growing up in northern Michigan in the 1950's and how his family survived through eating what he called govt beef (aka venison).  We talk stories from his childhood all the way up to current times and how whitetail deer hunters ideas and visions have changed.

In todays episode we interview 81 year old Roger Sharp.  Roger is likely one of the oldest active steelhead fisherman in the state. We talk about him growing up and getting introduced to steelhead fishing.  Roger has a wealth of knowledge and tells some of his stories throughout the years of fishing the Big Manistee river in Michigan.

In this episode I sit down and share a campfire with two great friends Jeff Emery and Pat Allard.  Jeff and Pat share their experiences about a great Canadian Black Bear hunt that they shared several years ago.  Pat has over 20 years experience hunting in Canada and Michigan and shares some of the important factors that any hunter considering going on a black bear hunt should know.  Jeff talks about his first hunt and the emotions that he felt leading up to and after the shot of taking his first black bear.

Today I sit down with Marcus Garner, the owner/operator of Blue Plague Guide Service as we  continue our conversations on hunting bears and also bobcats.  Marcus is a houndsman that uses Blue Tick hounds to pursue Bears and Bobcats during hunting season.  We get deep into the weeds on pursuing game with dogs and how each bear and bobcat he guides hunters on teaches him something new.

Today I sit down with Ben Nowak.  Ben is a very accomplished bass fisherman in the state of Michigan.  He primarily targets giant smallmouth in the Great Lakes but has been known to put huge large mouth in the boat also.  I think Ben's greatest attribute is how he strives to teach other anglers how to target these fish through his very successful YouTube channel aptly named "Benjamin Nowak".  He has hundreds of tutorials showing fisherman techniques, what gear to use and top baits for the change of the seasons.  He is a literal encyclopedia of bass fishing and does a great job of showing it through the camera lens.  He has played a large roll in developing tackle as well as fishing rods across the fishing industry all while raising two young children, being married and holding down a full time job.  Ben can be founf on all media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok as well as on YouTube under his name.

As we start out Season 2,  I want to thank everyone for the support in the inaugural season of the podcast.  It has been a lot of fun!  In this episode I talk a little about what I have been up to lately and dive in to a relatively new hobby to me but one that is really satisfying.  Processing my own venison! I partnered up with my brother to buy all the equipment needed to process and make all the delicious food that we love from venison we harvested.  Brats, jerky, summer sausage, snack sticks etc.  I talk about each piece of equipment we have purchased along with the seasonings and products we use to make it all.  It makes my mouth water just thinking about it.  Enjoy!
