07 Feb 2022Baby Fox - Dum Dum Baby (1998) [w/ Alex Gray of Baby Fox]00:55:39

MEEPISODE 64:

Coming up at tha catalyst of tha U.K.'s home grown trip-hop sound is Baby Fox. Fronted by vocalist Christine Leech who counts co-writing for Madonna on her credits, tha trio is rounded out by emcee Dwight and producer Alex Gray.

Their debut album, tha heavily dub-influenced "A Normal Family" is great but tha follow up in '98 for Roadrunner "DUM DUM BABY" is one of my across-tha-board FAVORITES!

It's like if tha Fight Club soundtrack had your guardian angel singing warnings over it while your false ego is rapping in your ear to roll tha dice.

We find out all about what led to that dark turn in sound as well as what tha hell a Baby Fox or Dum Dum Baby are on an all new MEEP MEEP... with an intro & outro by Violent J of ICP!

09 May 2022Twelve Tribes - The Rebirth of Tragedy (2004) [w/ Adam Jackson of Twelve Tribes]00:59:12

FUNERAL OF POD

Exploring albums released on Ferret Records that were distributed by Roadrunner.

Twelve Tribes' 2004 album "The Rebirth Of Tragedy" is, in many ways, a "rebirth" for tha band themselves. After briefly changing their name to Prodigal Zoo in 2003 and shifting a few key members, they re-emerged with an album that tops everything they'd done before it.

Tha TRAGEDY is that they're not still a band today and probably not given the adulation they deserve for this incredible album. So vocalist Adam Jackson took tha time to run through tha tribal customs that led to these songs and finally answer tha age old question...

Did they name this record after tha Vision of Disorder song?!

Exploring albums released on Trustkill Records that were distributed by Roadrunner. ⁣

They say you have 10 years to make your most relevant material - nobody told Terror. Two decades later they're making their most important music to date but in between tha instant classics their first two records & their modern masterclass in core "Keepers of the Faith", they did not choose to make it easy. ⁣

2006's "Always the Hard Way" was their first after guitarist Todd Jones' departure & would set tha tone for what Terror would do next. With Todd gone, drummer Nick Jett took tha songwriting reigns & made an album often overlooked but just as crushing as their hallmarks. ⁣

11 Oct 2022Both Worlds - Memory Rendered Visible (1998) [w/ John "Bloodclot" Joseph]00:44:59

Meepery Rendered Visible. That one's too easy.

In tha late 90s, ex-Cro Mags frontman John Joseph teamed up with AJ Novello, Eddie Coen, and Pokey from Leeway and formed Both Worlds. They put out one EP and one album, a full length on Roadrunner Records in 1998 with guest Meepsters Mina Caputo of Life of Agony and Derrick Green of Sepultura. It rocks.

Fast forward 20+ years later and John is still surrounded by Meep with his current band Bloodclot in former bassist Manny from Glassjaw, current bassist Christian from Fear Factory, and producer Laz of ill Nino.

Memory Rendered Visible is an awesome album that if you're aware of you'll be excited to hear more about and if you didn't know, we're gonna smarten you up to tha business kid!

Amaryllis had tha pressure of following tha biggest Shinedown release to that point, SOUND OF MADNESS, and also was on a new label home of Roadrunner.

15 Mar 2023Make Them Suffer - Neverbloom (2012) [w/ Sean Harmanis of Make Them Suffer]00:53:46

MEEP THEM SUFFER

On this episode we celebrate a milestone or in this case...
a kilometerstone because we're dicussing 10 years of Australia's Make Them Suffer releasing their debut full length album NEVERBLOOM on Roadrunner Records.

Make Them Suffer's story of landing on the big bird is a unique one as they were potentially the only successful use of a system used at the time called SIGN ME TO ROADRUNNER which was a website unsigned bands would upload their demos to in hopes of getting a record deal!

Vocalist Sean Harmanis takes us through the band's origins and their process through making this album, the local scene they experienced in Perth, Studio Ghibli movies influencing his writing process, the use of keyboards in their songs, their first tour being exclusively by public transportation, and the natural evolution of their sound to the MTS of today.

And if you love this album already or are psyched to jam it after hearing it's biography, it has recently been remastered and re-issued on streaming platforms everywhere and on vinyl for tha first time through Greyscale Records!...in full color.

22 Mar 2023Star Star - The Love Drag Years (1992) [w/ Johnnie Holliday of Star Star]00:53:16

STAR STAR MEEP MEEP

On this episode we're going back to NINETEEN NINETY TWO with an album that pre-dates all of tha false cries that Roadrunner had suddenly moved away from their metal roots.

You see, tha same year that RR would release THE END COMPLETE by Obituary, LEGION by Deicide, and SOUL of a NEW MACHINE by Fear Factory among plenty more examples they would also put out an album by a band called STAR STAR entitled tha LOVE DRAG YEARS and Star Star was many things but... decidedly not death metal.

What many may not realize is Roadrunner never wanted to be a death metal boutique label and from tha very beginning they were trying out various things searching for great bands that could sell records.

So enter Star Star, a 90s band with an 80s sound influenced by the 70s. The Love Drag Years was full of catchy anthems that would have fit in with the sleaze of Motley Crue more than the sludge of Suffocation.

The formation of this band and making of this album is a pretty wild ride but luckily we had a guide in frontman and main member Johnnie Holiday, who takes us from New York to LA and back again...

03 Jul 2023The Spider-Man Soundtrack (2002) [w/ Andy Ellis of Black Lab]00:48:23

On this exciting conclusion to SPIDER-MANIA which began on episodes with Josey Scott about tha song "HERO" and Cone from Sum 41 on "What We're All About", your host Ryan Rainbro (star of HBO's Righteous Gemstones) takes you through every remaining song on this soundtrack, karaokes a couple of them, explains how ringtones work and who Default is, and expands on Corey Taylor's headgear choices over tha years.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! Andy Ellis of tha band Black Lab tells us all about their song on tha soundtrack and tha crazy Aerosmith-related story as to how it went from being tha lead track off tha record to never even released as a single.

25 Oct 2023To My Surprise - To My Surprise (2003) [w/ Brandon Darner of To My Surprise]01:57:15

GET MEEP TO GO.

Oh sorry...I didn't mean to startle you but we're talking about the 2003 album by tha band To My Surprise, 20 years after it's release.

To My Surprise is a fascinating, although be it short lived, project, probably most known for being the side project of Slipknot mastermind and percussionist Shawn Crahan who not only thought it was fun to create with Crayola...but also with renowned producer and former owner of Smokey Mountain Wrestling... RICK RUBIN. That's right, this self titled album was produced by Rick and would be the first time these two would work together, pre-dating even Slipknot's Volume 3 record which Rick also helmed.

Shawn was not alone however; Early Slipknot member and current successful producer in his own right, Brandon Darner, was the Crahan Collaborator for this opus and would help it sound like nothing else Slipknot or any of their off-shoots ever created and that's who we're talking to on this very special episode.

Brandon tells us all about his relationship with Shawn, tha idea for the band, making tha album with Rick Rubin, his band tha Envy Corps and even early days with Slipknot playing with THE URGE.

All this and nothing else on an all new Meep Meep!

24 Apr 2024Ether Seeds - Ether Seeds (2003) [w/ Dustin Lowery of Ether Seeds]00:59:21

MEEPER SEEDS.
Too Easy.

Sometimes albums are made for Roadrunner... and not released?
HUH?! WHAT'S THAT MEAN?!

In the mid 2000s the label was going through a boom and signing lots of bands since Roadrunner had recently been caught by the coyote that was Island Def Jam essentially making the bird a major label with that major label money and a huge mainstream hit with Nickelback.

In 2003, Ether Seeds, was set to release their self titled debut album on Roadrunner Records. The Seeds were a band fronted by Dustin Lowery who was then and still is now brothers to Clint Lowery of Sevendust fame and Corey Lowery who is currently in Seether but did time in Stuck Mojo, Stereomud and others.

The band were signed to the label, recorded the album, and weeks before it was set to release... were dropped! And the album never came out. They weren't the only band on Roadrunner or in the music industry to suffer that fate by any means but certainly one of the more head scratching with not only a strong pedigree but a great record behind it!

Dustin was generous enough to tell us the story of the band's entire life on this episode and while you know the ending, the episodes in between are pretty fascinating.

So save your own life... and listen now!!!

A prophetic title for a band who broke up 6 months after it's release! Hear Mike talk about tha highs, lows, yesses, no's, Grammy nomination, Roadrunner United, and two people you would not expect to have auditioned to be their new vocalist after this album cycle was over.

All this and nothing else on Episode 100!

10 Apr 2025Presidents of the United States of America - Freaked Out and Small (2000) [w/ Chris Ballew of PUSA]00:44:02

MILLIONS OF MEEPS-ES,⁣
MEEPS-ES FOR ME!⁣

Get it? That “Peaches” song.⁣

On tha eve of America’s Independence Day, I present to you our greatest independents: Presidents of the United States of America.⁣

Their splendor rivals that of Bill Pullman in ID4, or even Julianne Moore in Hunger Games and on this episode President Chris from tha band that brought you “Peaches” and Weird Al’s “Gump” tells us all about their album “Freaked Out and Small."

This was recorded after they had already broken up but in tha middle of them FORMING A BAND WITH “BABY GOT BACK” EMCEE SIR MIX-A-LOT?!⁣

Yes. All of this is true. And it’s all for you on Episode 100.

10 Apr 2025Madina Lake - From Them, Through Us, To You (2007) [w/ Matthew Leone of Madina Lake]01:01:47

MEEPDINA LAKE⁣

One might say… tha greatest lake. SIT DOWN, HURON!⁣

Madina Lake was formed in tha aftermath of two Chicago mainstays: Blank Theory and Reforma.⁣

But after a fluke victory on Fear Factor (Rogan, not Cazares) and a chance meeting with Nickelback A&R Ron Burman, the band signed to Roadrunner Records to release their debut album “From Them, Through Us, to You.”⁣

Laker Matthew Leone takes us through tha process of becoming tha conduit and this record’s concepts and themes, touring with Paramore, Mindless Self Indulgence, rising to success in Europe, working with producer Mark Trombino and most importantly…⁣

A breakdown of tha entire cast of the Chronicles of Narnia movies. Professor X and Mr. Tumnus – McAvoy what CAN’T you do?!⁣

Whether fear is a factor or factory for you, it’s all available on Episode 100.

10 Apr 2025Madball - Legacy (2005) [w/ Brian "Mitts" Daniels]00:56:27

Now THAT'S a spicy MEEPBALL! Madball's 5th album, Legacy, was released domestically in tha U.S. under THA GUN aka Ferret and internationally on tha Bird - Roadrunner.

Madball broke up... for a year and then they got back together! With the core members of vocalist Fred and bassist Hoya, they were joined by ex-Hatebreed drummer Rigg Ross and Skarhead alumni MITTS on guitar.

B"M"D joins us to discuss tha first full length Madball album he was a part of, fresh off tha heels of his involvement in hardcore supergroup Rag Men with fellow Meepsters Bulldog from Earth Crisis and Jorge from ill Nino/Merauder/almost Sepultura.

And it's all over this 100th episode.

10 Apr 2025downthesun - downthesun (2002) [w/ Aaron Peltz of downthesun]00:55:16

MEEPICATED.

This episode tackles tha self-titled debut and farewell of midwest monsters, downthesun. This band has so many Slipknot ties and that pun writes itself but they didn't wear tha masks - you saw and heard exactly how ugly they were.

Vocalist Aaron Peltz (no face tattoos) tells us about how they were signed, working with Mega Meepster producer GGGarth Richardson, touring with Slayer, and imploding almost immediately.

Gross! Episode 100.

10 Apr 2025The Banner - Each Breath Haunted (2005) [w/ Joey Southside of The Banner]01:16:13

Each Meep Haunted.

The [Bruce] Banner from New Jersey were an interesting entry in tha world of metalcore in 2005. A punk rock aesthetic with a spooktacular subject matter wrapped up in breakdowns and mosh madness.

In this episode, singer Joey Southside takes us through the early beginnings of tha band, unlikely inspirations for their songs spanning from Batman video games to Outbreak, an argument about whether or not he wore eyeliner or not (he did), and bonds their scene formed internally with themselves and externally with multi-platinum partners My Chemical Romance.

All this and nothing else on Episode 100.

10 Apr 2025Boiler Room - Can't Breathe (2000) [w/ Rob Caggiano]00:41:17

CAN'T MEEP NOW

Before Rob Caggiano was a super producer of bands like Cradle of Filth and 36 Crazyfists and even before riffin' and rockin' guitars as a member of Anthrax or Volbeat, Rob Caggiano was in the band BOILER ROOM who were signed to Roadrunner for an album to be released in 2000.

Their single "Do It Again" appeared on the RR compilation MTV'S RETURN OF THE ROCK but despite completing the record, the Big Bird did not actually officially release it but Tommy Boy Records did, and the band dispersed shortly after.

In this 100th episode we talk all about the Boiler Room album but also some bonus Meeping with Rob's first production for Roadrunner, Dry Kill Logic's 2001 release "The Darker Side of Nonsense." Sick.

10 Apr 2025The Step Kings - Let's Get It On! (2000) [w/ Fern of The Step Kings]01:24:02

Tha Meep Kings.

New Jersey's Step Kings epitomized a DIY ethic coming up through hard work and grinding which eventually landed them a record with Roadrunner produced by Machine and tours with everyone from Slipknot to international shows with Papa Roach.

Bassist Bob McLynn is now a titan in the music industry with Crush Management while guitarist Fern is still a passionate musician who takes us through his journey of moving across the country to fulfill his dreams of rockin' complete with stories about collaborating with ill Nino, Jorge from Merauder designing their logo, Insane Clown Posse not appreciating their antics, and so much more on episode...

One Hundred.

16 Apr 2025Chimaira - Chimaira (2005) [w/ Mark Hunter, Rob Arnold, and Chris Spicuzza of Chimaira]01:21:54

NOTHING MEEPMAINS...

Almost works. It's the 20th anniversary of Chimaira's self-titled 2005 album and we got half the band to tell us all about it.

Ohio's finest were coming off the strength of their 2003 breakout "The Impossibility of Reason" and would lean into a much more metal sound with longer songs, bigger solos, and more technical riffage.

This would also be their last effort on Roadrunner and their only record with drummer Kevin Talley. How did it all come together? How did it all fall apart? What was on Kevin's video camera?

All this and nothing else on this 100th episode anniversary edition of Meep Meep.

04 Aug 2021Dislocated Styles - Pin the Tail on the Honkey (2001) [w/ Ed Udhus of Zebrahead and Greg, Joe, Chuck, & Jason of Dislocated Styles]01:25:03

POSSESSED BY MEEPSTERS!

Get unified in tha mix with Dislocated Styles. We're joined by nearly tha whole band to discuss their career as they come into Roadrunner via A&Rtist Kevin Estrada (Spineshank, Chimaira).

DisLo is signed during an exciting & eclectic time for tha label not to mention tha rap'n'roll hotbed of Arizona PLUS...I make an important monologue about Alien Ant Farm AND once reference tha Phunk Junkeez.

PTTOTH is produced by Howard Benson whose name is held in houses now but I first became aware of HB when he produced tha first songs by one of my favorite bands growing up - ZEBRAHEAD.

ZH drummer Ed actually plays on tha Dislocated Styles album too so he was gracious enough to tell us about working with Howard, tracking tha DS song, my AIM screen name, and the future of Zebrahead.

So let's spin some tales about pinning tails on an all-new Meep Meep!

11 Aug 2021Non-Intentional Lifeform - Uisce (1997) [w/ Andrew Day of N.I.L.]01:00:45

MEEPING OR EXISTING

This week we take a trip down under to Australia in the unlikely city of PERTH for the first signing to Roadrunner's Australia branch: Non-Intentional Lifeform.

Members of N.I.L. have gone on to toss coins at Superman and play in other Aussie luminaries such as KILLING HEIDI. We get the rundown of the entire history of the band from multi-instrumentalist Andrew Day.

From improving songs to touring with Korn all within the same 12 months, this is a truly personal and inspiring journey of a young band being thrust into the world of rock 'n roll.

So don't be a bogan; just grab a quokka and tell me if people really eat bloomin' onions while we hear the story of ISH-KA.

20 Aug 2021Anyone - Anyone (2001) [w/ Riz Story of Anyone, Ryan Shuck of Orgy/Adema, & Kevin Estrada, A&R at Roadrunner Records]01:52:01

Anyone was described by Roadrunner Records in 2001 as "the most innovative band of the new millennium!" - so innovative they were offered the biggest record deal in the label's history up to that point! We celebrate the 20th anniversary of this sonic journey with some special guests!

The someone in Anyone, Riz Story, tells us about starting the band with now Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and current YES vocalist, Juano aka Jon Davidson. He also links this album to the forthcoming Anyone record "In Humanity" available October 12th!

A&R visionary and photography legend Kevin Estrada discusses signing past guests Dislocated Styles and Spineshank, trying to sign System of a Down and Twiztid, and his personal journey through the making of the Anyone album with up-and-coming producer MUDROCK.

Who ties these two together? None other than Ryan Shuck of Orgy fame and now vocalist for Adema! Ryan connects the dots throughout his career from Korn's origin to Orgy's Family Values with Anyone in between and also discusses the new things Adema is doing like their new single "READY TO DIE"!

That's alot of stuff. But the whole world's insane so DO wake me and listen to this episode streaming NOW!!!

25 Aug 2021Machine Head - The More Things Change... (1997) [w/ Robb Flynn of Machine Head & Nick Emde of Contracult Collective]01:06:19

MEEPISODE 50:

Robb Flynn - Meepster Mainstay, bonfire icon, & main cog in tha Machine Head.

After they're hugely successful debut "Burn My Eyes" was released, they'd attempt to follow up one of tha most important albums of all time...

And they did!! 1997's "More Things Change..." is meaner, focused, & destructive in many ways. Tha General himself tells us about tha days of still being a sergeant, deep in tha trenches...

ALSO! Nick Emde from CONTRACULT COLLECTIVE bird nerds out with me about signing to RR, working with Rhys Fulber, being a fan of MH, and mainly how cool Logan Mader is.

Plus I tell Robb about Becky Lynch, he tells me about Chris Garza from Suicide Silence, and it's all streaming now like a Ten Ton Hammer...

15 Sep 2021ill Niño - Revolution...Revolución (2001) [w/ Laz Piña of ill Niño, Jorge Rosado of Merauder, Mike Gitter, A&R]01:26:29

#Meepisode51⁣
ill Niño - Revolution...Revolución (2001)⁣

ill Niño started as El Niño with Merauder vocalist Jorge Rosado before changing their name & personnel & being signed to Roadrunner Records by Mike Gitter.⁣

09/18/01, TWENTY YEARS AGO, they released their debut album which launched them into tha canon of music forever with singles like "What Comes Around" & "Unreal" as well as launching me trying to jumpkick wearing a backpack with Marc Rizzo.⁣

We'll go through that whole journey with never before heard stories from Jorge about trying out for SEPULTURA and starting El Niño, Mike Gitter takes us through his relationships over tha years with tha members eventually leading to becoming their champion.⁣

Finally Laz Piña ties it all together with confirming that rumor I made up about Eddie Leeway being an initial vocalist prospect, recording this album with legendary producer Ron St. Germain, mixing down with Scrap 60 aka Rob Caggiano, now of Volbeat fame, and what it all means today.⁣

22 Sep 2021Junkie XL - Saturday Teenage Kick (1997) [w/ Patrick "Rudeboy" of Urban Dance Squad and Lucas van Slegtenhorst, A&R]01:19:09

I never planned on this; Big Meep Evangelist!

In 1997 Roadrunner Records released the debut album by Tom Holkenborg, better known the world over as Junkie XL. Tom a few years later would score a worldwide #1 hit with some guy named Elvis and presently scores worldwide movie releases like Justice League but there was a time when he was a real rock'n'rolla.

"Saturday Teenage Kick" formed a band around it and spawned hits like Billy Club and the title track with tha Silver Surfering Rudeboy Remington Patrick Tilon handling the vocals of the digital onslaughts, Dino Cazares of Fear Factory rockin' tha riffs, and Tom putting it all together in a way only he can.

Lucas van Slegtenhorst is the A&R rep who signed JXL early in both of their careers and tells the tale of the Computer Hell genesis.

So don't be an underachiever, X-Pand your limits 'cause this one is streaming NOW!!!

29 Sep 2021Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies (2006) [w/ Mike D'Antonio of Killswitch Engage & Roderick Strong, WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion]01:16:07

Meepisode 53:

It's a CHAMPIONSHIP edition of tha show. We're celebrating 15 years of Killswitch Engage's third and possibly biggest album on Roadrunner, AS DAYLIGHT DIES.

To talk about the making of that record will be band bassist and artist Mike D as well as reigning WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Roderick Strong!

Roddy's finishing move he won that very championship with is called The End of Heartache named after Killswitch's album and we discuss how it all connects and also...the Ninja Turtles: Coming Out of Their Shell.

In November of 2006, KSE would release their 4th album, but only 2nd with then vocalist Howard Jones. After having huge success including a Grammy nomination how would the band follow up?... well for starters, with a WWE theme song used for years by CM Punk. Oh more wrestling?! I'm starting to notice a theme here!

All this as well as the world's BEST vegan doughnuts on this banger of a Meep Meep!

05 Oct 2021Sepultura - Against (1998) [w/ Andreas Kisser of Sepultura & Howard Benson, Producer]01:14:57

MEEPISODE 54:⁣

23 years ago TODAY on October 6, 1998 Sepultura released AGAINST, their first album with Derrick Green and tha beginning of a new legacy.⁣

Listen to never before told stories about the events leading up to tha making of this album from producer Howard Benson and tha guitar god himself Andreas Kisser.⁣

Derrick was tha man for tha job but before he was chosen many other considerations were made: Jorge from Merauder, Phil Demmel from Machine Head, Chuck Billy from Testament, Davide from Orange 9MM, and even Andreas himself!⁣

Howard Benson's life and career were changed by helping piece together this album which is one of my favorites in tha entire catalog and, like most things in life...⁣

Zebrahead is tha key to it all!⁣

27 Oct 2021Sepultura - Nation (2001) [w/ Derrick Green of Sepultura & Ramón Ortiz of Puya]01:16:49

It's time to be a colorguard for tha metal marching band of Sepultura as we fly tha flag of NATION...their FINAL album for Roadrunner Records, released 20 years ago in 2001. ⁣

This is tha 2nd release with current vocalist Derrick Green and would set tha tone for tha future of tha band as his various unique vocal styles and songwriting methods would more seamlessly meld with Sepultura riffage and rhythms we knew before!⁣

When Nation was released Sepultura toured on it with Flybanger, Primer 55, Hatebreed, & PUYA.⁣

Puya are without a doubt one of tha most skilled, diverse, and underrated bands of tha era & their album UNION also turns 20 this year! Union...Nation. I'm about to open an embassy. ⁣

So Puya Patriarch Ramon Ortiz was kind enough to take tha time to reflect on making Union and, of course, touring with Sepultura! ⁣

This is one of tha more unique records in Sepultura's catalog and in retrospect ahead of its' time. From tha guest features to tha artwork by Charleston, SC's own Shepard Fairey it really stands apart visually and sonically. ⁣

Frontman Derrick Green reflects on what this album was then and what it means today.⁣

NATION is a part of tha newly released bosses SEPULNATION featuring all of tha studio album from 98 to 2009 which you can get on beautiful compact disc and even more beautiful vinyl disc.⁣

HAPPY HALLOWICKED!!!

We're celebrating Jack-O-Lanterns weather and tha 20th Anniversary of tha final release of the Misfits on Roadrunner: CUTS FROM THE CRYPT released October 30, 2001.

With me to do the honors of heralding this haunted Hallowed hitlist is none other than tha Abominable Dr. Chud from tha band and wrestling icon VAMPIRO!

Doc has seen and done it all including being one of tha four ghastly ghouls who graverobbed across tha world in the Misfits. Vampiro brought tha monsters to mash with him in World Championship Wrestling.

It gets no cooler or ghouler.

08 Dec 2021Vision of Disorder - Imprint (1998) [w/ Matt Baumbach & Mike Fleischmann of V.O.D. and Brian Audley of Incendiary]01:49:14

MEEPPRINT⁣

In 1996 Vision of Disorder released what is now considered a classic with their self-titled "green drip" album but tha band wasn't satisfied with that sound. They knew they could do better - and now we do too!⁣

In 1998, "IMPRINT", tha relentless follow-up was unleashed complete with a Phil Anselmo guest spot, recording with producer Dave Sardy, and a nationwide Triple Meep Attack tour with Earth Crisis & Sepultura!⁣

Tha Visionaries themselves Matt Baumbach & Mike Fleischmann leave their mark on our minds about tha entire process as well as tha prelude (Resurrecting Reality), epilogue (For the Bleeders, From Bliss to Devastation), and quintessential V.O.D. songs.⁣

In addition, Brian Audley from modern Long Island hardcore heroes INCENDIARY reminisces about his early exposure to Vision of Disorder and their legacy today.⁣

There's no slumping on this sophomore and V.O.D. is for EVERYBODY on this Meep Meep!⁣

15 Dec 2021Karma to Burn - Karma to Burn (1997) [w/ Rich Mullins of Karma to Burn & Howie Abrams, A&R]01:37:33

MEEPISODE 60:⁣
Karma to Burn are a unique entry into the Roadrunner catalog - an INSTRUMENTAL band...who release a non-instrumental album on Roadrunner.  ⁣

K2B started as all riffs and no vocals but when Howie Abrams signed them to tha label, expectations were that they'd get a frontman to bring their message to tha MASSED and as you'll hear...that was easier said than done. ⁣

Their incredibly talented leader Will Mecum unfortunately passed away in 2021. This album however lives on whether he likes it or not & we have his partner in literal crime Rich Mullins to take us from the beginning to... Well you'll see where it goes. ⁣

We're also joined once again by tha man Howie Abrams to tell us about one of his final projects for RR, how he helped them release tha fully instrumental follow-up with his friend Peter Nussbaum, and Karma being courted by a member of Metallica!⁣

This saga featured John Garcia of Kyuss fame temporarily being their vocalist, Nick Oliveri of Queens of tha Stoneage fame being around for it, working with producer Steve Haigler, and finally...a new Karma to Burn album in the works!!!⁣

MEEPSION TO DESTROY

In 1997, wanting to get in on tha ever dominating "alternative" scene, Roadrunner acquired a small indie label called CherryDisc from Boston, MA who'd had success with Semisonic & Letters to Cleo among others.⁣ Among those who made tha migration from CD to RR were BOY WONDER whose sole full-length "Wonder-Wear" came out on tha Big Bird.

They were fronted by former Dropnineteens guitarist Paula Kelley and she takes us on tha journey to and through tha album!⁣ One band on CherryDisc who did NOT move were TREE. Frontman Dave "River" was featured on Shootyz Groove's RR release but never got one to himself. He tells about recording that song "Diamond Mind" with Shootyz as well as other TREE TRIVIA like being covered by Powerman 5000.
