12 Dec 2024Episode Two : Not the End of Year Celebration01:13:14

In our second podcast episode Neil & Mark went along to Marple Runners End of Year Celebration to speak to members and hear about their running highlights of 2024. Many of them refused to talk to us perhaps feeling uncomfortable about being interviewed outside a lavatory but after a few sherbets to loosen their tongues, we were bowled over by the response; amazing, funny, inspiring, and some a little tipsy, but every one part of our running community. And they know how to party!

We're also joined by Eleanor with a runners roundup, Andy H with his Social tales, a very special guest, and some terrible singing. So after a good start, it might be all downhill from here... Fun and mostly unscripted but it's about you, not us, so we hope you enjoy it enough to take us on your next run.

Thanks.

Mark & Neil

21 Mar 2025Episode Four : Return of the King01:18:38

In this episode of our Podcast we were thrilled to welcome along a very special guest, Andy Lord our Club President, who dropped in to tell us all about his running career and, importantly for us, how he started Marple Runners and then steered the club through it's formative years as its Chairman ...but who now secretly eeks out a living in a sports shoe shop like the Elvis of running.

We're also joined by Eleanor with some runner celebrations and race roundup, Andy H bigging up his part making up some stuff about the social calendar, and another surprise guest flaps his way into our lives.

It's a bit of fun and mostly unscripted but it's about you, not us, so we hope you enjoy it enough to take us on your next run.

Thanks.

Mark & Neil

20 Feb 2025Episode Three : No time for a Snickers (...it's Marathon Training.)01:17:42

In this our third episode of the Marple Runners Podcast we invited along our Coaching Officer, Simeon F-N to tell us about his running journey. Si is joined by Andy H, both UKA qualified CiRF running coaches to discuss marathon training plans, kit and nutrition, and then they bravely took questions from some Marple members who are deep in their preparation for Spring marathon events:

- Cath B & Jenny D both hoping to run their first marathon under 5 hours at Manchester this April,

- Susannah W prepping to take on Leeds and beat her previous 4hr21min PB,

- David H working to run London and best his previous 3hr37min PB on his 3rd marathon, and,

- Lyndsey U, one of our Club ballot winners flying the Marple flag also running London and hoping to finish under 5hrs in her 3rd marathon event. No pressure.

We're also joined by Eleanor with a runner celebration and race roundup and Andy H, in his other club role leading us astray with a jog around the social calendar.

It's a bit of fun and mostly unscripted but it's about you, not us, so we hope you enjoy it enough to take us on your next run.

Thanks.

Mark & Neil

22 Nov 2024Episode One : The Marple Menace01:02:06

With such a diverse collection of running experience across our little club, we hear lots of entertaining & inspiring tales about races, training and social from our amazing members that really capture the essence of Marple Runners and Neil & I thought that capturing those stories for everyone to enjoy would be a great Idea. So after a few fun evenings and a bit of planning, but not much, we are proud to present the first episode of Marple Runners Podcast.  So, with the Chairman's blessing, or was it the last rites, here we go...

Our first Podcast guest is the father of Marple Parkrun, an original 2016 Marple Runners Club Committee member, and now our Club Championship Coordinator, James Kemp, who we invited over to tell us a little about Marple Parkrun origins, his introduction to running and how that developed into a career with Parkrun.

We're also joined by Eleanor C with Runners Roundup and Andy H for a jaunty jog around the social calendar,

It's fun and mostly unscripted but it's about you, not us, so we hope you enjoy it enough to take us on your next run.

Mark & Neil

16 Apr 2025Episode Five : Meet the Jeffers01:06:26

It's Episode 5 of our Podcast so we invited along members of our Jeffing Group who have embraced, US Olympian, Jeff Galloway's run-walk training method.  Well, with a foot in the door and a minor mutiny, Mel C (not that one) lead the chat with Jeffing Group Run Leader, Debbie C, and keen Jeffers, Cathie & Alistair, about how Jeffing has been beneficial to their running stories and an entry for anyone new to running, helping those returning from injury, or just because that's how they roll ...After this, you may never run for longer than 3 minutes ever again. (More information here:  https://www.jeffgalloway.com/)

Eventually we wrestled back the microphone and were joined by Eleanor for a sing-song before a round up of your runner celebrations ...but no Andy H due to his upcoming 'He's Electric' tour of Miami so Alistair stayed behind instead to brag about his Club Handicap Race prizes.

It won't win any soap acting awards but a bit of fun, unscripted, mostly, but it's about you, and definitely not us, so we hope you enjoy it enough to take us on your next run.

Thanks.

Mark & Neil
