02 Sep 2020 | EP47- Breastfeeding, it’s between you and your baby... | 00:39:27
Welcome back to YEAR TWO of The Pumping Podcast! Thank you for your support and dedication to the podcast. In honor of last month, August, I am celebrating National Breastfeeding Month and kicking it off with this episode and my dear friend, Emily Roberts. Not only is Emily a strong and powerful mama of one, who is a champion for breastfeeding mamas, she also has her own store that she has opened, Emmy’s Apothecary. Check out the Etsy link for handmade vegan room sprays, candles, chemical free cleaners and more! Beginning Sept. 3rd until Oct. 6th (30 days), she is offering 20% off her entire shop! FREE shipping for orders $35 and up...and...a FREE gift for orders $40+. Promo code is PUMPNATION20 Follow her on Instagram: @EmmysApothecary
Emily’s mantra is: Manifest Your Own Transformation and that is something that she has embodied fully since I’ve known her and especially since the birth of her daughter. Emily’s birth was challenging because she didn’t feel ready and the same came with the start of her breastfeeding journey. She discusses how she didn’t know what to do, how to manage and she felt she really needed a lactation consultant for comfort and guidance. She also encourages mamas to remember that breastfeeding is between you and your baby. Do what you need, when you need and don’t worry about what others think. Emily is still breastfeeding her, now toddler and encourages you to do motherhood in whatever way is best for you. So, what IS balance when we’re preparing for childbirth and labor? How can we achieve balance before we give birth? Deb teaches us the important key to finding balance during your pregnancy to help create less obstruction for baby's birth during labor. You will learn where to start and what not to forget when training to be a future mama.

08 Jul 2020 | EP42- Becoming...finding YOU in motherhood… | 00:43:17
Tamra Andress is the mama of one inquisitive girl and one vivacious boy. She is an entrepreneur, a coach, an ordained minister, a podcast host and so much more! She is a breath of fresh air and energy. We discuss the importance of becoming a mom, but simultaneously holding onto or rediscovering your identity as a woman. We also unpack mom guilt and the many ways in which it can creep up. She discusses how she was so wrapped up in the working world (during the early days of her children’s life) that her life came to a screeching halt when she came home one day and her daughter, instead of running toward her, ran the other direction. She decided to quit her jobs that day and refocus on motherhood. While this process was a blessing, she also found herself trying to find her identity again. My hope is that you feel inspired after hearing her story to rediscover your identity, if you’ve felt like you lost it through motherhood.

This week, I have a very candid chat with actress and mama, Laura Gilreath, who is the mama that was featured in the recent Frida Mom commercial that went viral because it was banned from being aired during the Oscars! While she recorded the commercial during pregnancy, she had quite the challenging postpartum journey ahead of her. She talks about how when you bring home a baby, you also bring home a mom. A statement that Frida Mom stands by. She brings us through a challenging pregnancy and birth that she experienced. 17 Jun 2020 | EP40- C-section, the unwritten birth plan... | 00:56:11
This week’s episode is a conversation about C-sections, something that doesn’t seem to be discussed. After realizing that very few moms even talk about having a c-section, never-mind going into detail about the challenges around them during and after in recovery, this mama Susannah Hilliard thought it was time to share her experience. After an emergency c-section, Susannah’s baby was born and she didn’t even know it was happening. Not only that, but her husband was still waiting to be brought into the room to see his son be born, having no idea that he had already arrived. She shares some insight into what the recovery process looks like and is passionate about sharing stories like hers, so that c-section moms know they aren’t alone. Remember, at the end of the day, the most important thing is that you brought life into the world, no matter how it comes. Follow her on Instagram! Check her out on Twitter! ________________________________________________________ Important Links for Cesarean Sections: ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) American Pregnancy C-section Information ***Given the current social climate, Susannah would like to shed light on and recognize that black mothers experience disproportionately high rates of C-sections (35.4% of live births by black mothers were by C-section from the latest data) and death related to pregnancy or childbirth. 30 Sep 2020 | EP51- Mama, Laura Michelle Kelly... | 00:34:12
Putting goodness out into the world to encourage other people, is the goal of this Olivier Award winner, Laura Michelle Kelly. This elegant mama has graced the stages of the West End in London and Broadway, in addition to countless theaters all over the world. Best known for playing the title role of Mary Poppins, she has played the role of mother several times, but became a mother herself a year ago. Her son, Raphael, made his appearance early and while that surprised her and she overcame challenges of the NICU, he is a healthy and active boy who is turning one this October! She encourages actors to live life and not wait for certain roles or boxes to check. Her marriage and motherhood came later in life, but she waited for the timing that worked for her. Motherhood has lit her up and also exhausted her, but she wouldn’t change it for the world.
It was such an honor to chat with this mama, a role model of mine and the sweetest soul out there. 10 Mar 2023 | EP141- How to Financially Prepare for Motherhood with Jen Narciso | 00:45:21
Overwhelmed by finances and motherhood? By the end of this episode, you will know where to begin with your money, how to navigate all of those misc. expenses that come along with pregnancy and birth and find comfort in knowing that it is through these Tough, but important conversations that we can create generational wealth and support for our family.
BIO: My name is Jen, and I am the host of the Investor Mama Podcast. I am a wife, mom, daughter, granddaughter, real estate investor, business owner, and project manager. I am an adamant reader and a consumer of content geared towards helping individuals reach financial independence. After years of learning, I thought it was about time I started producing and share my obsession with others. However, after being part of the financial independence movement for the past few years, I realized there was a gap in resources around personal finances geared towards moms. Trying to get ahead with money is one thing, trying to get ahead as a mom is whole other ball game. I started talking about money more and more with my mom friends and noticed a trend in the questions I was being asked. I didn't have all the answers but knew there were others out there who did and other successful super moms setting the example with their money. I thought to myself and said why not find them, interview them, and share their knowledge with other moms also trying to get financially ahead for their family. And so, Investor Mama was born! I believe anyone can achieve financial freedom and peace of mind by getting educated and changing their habits. I hope this podcast will be a resource and an inspiration to help you with your own money journey. Website: https://investormama.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/investor_mama/?hl=en

21 Oct 2020 | EP54- Vulnerability in motherhood… | 01:08:33
This mama of four has been through it all… PCOS, VBAC, Hemorrhaging, Miscarriage, Depression, Type 1 Diabetes... and that’s just scratching the surface. *I advise those listening that this story is challenging and could be triggering for some. Amy had her first child at just 18 and really struggled after the first pregnancy, feeling like a failure and not having the confidence to speak up about it. As her story continues, the hurdles she overcame grow along with her confidence to speak up. She encourages mamas to educate themselves about their health, pregnancy and beyond to know that you’re not crazy or alone. This mama’s vulnerability is so real and inspiring. She encourages new mamas to “take the rope.” Accept help when it’s offered. “You don’t need to drown, when there’s so many things working against you.” I hope you find this mamas as uplifting as I did. Man, she is full of great advise and her story is so memorable!

22 Jul 2020 | EP44- I love you, but that was traumatic... | 00:53:07
A mama of two, whose daughter was born right at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mallory Grantz shares her challenging first birth story and the joy of postpartum during a pandemic. Mallory is a friend from college and it was so wonderful to reconnect and hear her journey. She was vulnerable enough to share how she lacked the connection with her first born that you think you’re “supposed to feel” right away. With such a traumatic pregnancy, it wasn’t until later into motherhood that she felt that connection and now her son is her mini-me. I was so grateful for her openness and vulnerability about the challenges you can experience at the beginning of motherhood.

23 Feb 2022 | EP104- How to Create a Postpartum Plan with Jessica D’Argenio Waller | 00:39:36
So many things can crop up during the postpartum period, but they are swept under the rug because we assume that they are part of the process, but they don’t have to be. Most women postpartum are more susceptible to nutritional depletion, anemia, osteopenia, depression, anxiety, and fatigue. Studies show that one in five women experience signs of postpartum depression. However, if you have more social support, you are less likely to be affected by mental health issues. This makes a postpartum care plan very important. In this episode, Jessica shares her postpartum experience and what she wishes she had done differently to make her transition smoother. Learn how to create your postpartum plan for a smooth transition into and through the postpartum in this episode of the Mamas in Training Podcast with Jessica D’Argenio Waller!

This week, I worked on something a little different… In this episode, you’ll hear a joint episode with me and another podcast host, Adam Busuttil from The Dad Experience Podcast! We sit down and chat about the challenging times of COVID-19, what goes through the minds of dads and how we can all work together to slow down and be grateful for the present. Adam is a father of 2 girls from Michigan. He started his podcast, after being confined to his home for a year with the birth of his first daughter, because she had a congenital heart defect. He has created a place where dads could go to find meaningful parenting information and stories. Since our podcasts are similar in the ways of sharing the journey into parenthood, we decided to do a mashup and we hope you enjoy it! Check out the podcast Website! 15 Apr 2020 | EP32- Faith, spirituality & grace at a time we need it most... | 00:54:53
For the third episode in my Mini Meditation and Wellness Series, I chatted with one of my best mama friends, Erin Adams, for a conversation around faith and spirituality. No matter what your beliefs, we wanted to spread the word that whatever energy it is that makes the world go round, it is that energy of love and positivity that we need to share today. Whether faith is something you lean on daily or it’s something you shy away from, there can be some comfort found in a quiet prayer or meditation, especially during times of struggle and uncertainty. There is hope and we will heal from this over time. Love thy neighbor and share love and light with the neighbors around you. In this episode, Dr. Morgan Cutlip speaks about the responsibility we have on how we see our partners, how parenthood affects satisfaction, the common unexplored self-expectations for women and moms, maternal gatekeeping, and how to involve your partner right from the beginning in motherhood. 27 May 2020 | EP38- You have superhero skills... | 00:41:02
Having her first child at just 19 years old, this week’s guest, Sabrina Ben Salmi from London, discusses the raising of her 5 children and how it transformed her for the better. She came from a challenging childhood with a lack of support, but discovered how to ask her kids: “How am I doing?.” That question has formed a relationship of openness, honesty and trust with each of her children. The Ben Salmi family has become a family of entrepreneurs, even at just 4 when her youngest son published a book! While they were growing up, she encouraged her children to study personal development together, learn about emotional intelligence, the intricacies of the brain and always spoke to her children as an ally. She would encourage and empower their strengths, passions and curiosities in order to support them to be future focused. Ben Salmi Family Mantras: We believe that there is no such thing as failure, only feedback. We also believe that the journey of one thousand miles begins with a single step in the right direction.

While our partners can be there for our birth and support us for sure, they TOO have a lot of emotions, fears and distractions going on. It can be hard for them to be 100% fully focused on your needs. However a doula or “mother servant”’ is there for you and you alone.

She had to choose between her husband and her doula when her birth unexpectedly took a turn and she ended up having to go to the hospital, when she planned a home birth.
