01 May 2018On Choosing More with Cat Byrne00:35:47

In this episode I'm joined by Cat Byrne, a designer who runs her own branding and web design studio over at Gatto Web, a podcast host, and a past client and wonderful friend of mine too. We explore Cat's journey last year of choosing more for herself in her creative business and life, how she pivoted her business to work better for her so she could work less, earn more, and find more freedom and fulfilment along the way too. 27 Jun 2018Introducing Nobody Is Going To Do Your Business (Or Your Life) For You: & Other Stories00:06:43

So last year I wrote a book. It's a mini book, less than 50 pages long, called Nobody Is Going To Do Your Business (Or Your Life) For You and I shared it as a little gift with my Weekly Letters email community alongside an audiobook that I recorded for it too. This little book explored some of the lessons I've learned over the years as a creative coach about what it takes to bridge the gap between where are now and where we truly want to be in our creative life. It's filled with 12 mini essays and it's probably one of my favourite projects I've ever brought to life in my business.

Since then I've also brought to life some other mini books for my Weekly Letters community, from a ten-step business plan for creatives, to a mini book filled with 105 writing prompts, to a collection of fifty of my favourite letters that I've sent to them over the years, and I have so many other ideas swirling around my mind for future mini books that I'm really excited to bring to life and share with my community soon.

So for this season of Make It Happen I wanted to share with you the audiobook of Nobody Is Going To Do Your Business (Or Your Life) For You, in the hopes that it can be of some encouragement and support for you in your creative work and life right now. And if you'd like to dive into the mini book and other mini books I have created, and have exclusive access to new mini books that I'll publishing along the way too, you can find out more and join my Weekly Letters community over at www.jencarrington.com

So what you'll find next are 13 episodes sharing the chapters of Nobody is Going To Do Your Business (Or Your Life) For You, and my biggest hope is that on the other side you will have a little more clarity, a little more courage, and a little more determination to show up and bring to fruition the creative work and life that you're aching for.

07 Nov 2018Why I Believe In A Slow & Steady Approach To Business00:11:20

What if there was a different way to build a thriving business than the path of hustle, hustle, hustle that's been modelled to us? What if we could thrive in our life every step of way too? In this episode I share how I've recently crossed over into six figures in my business and why, after four years now of taking a very slow and steady approach to my business, what I am most happy about is that I’ve been able to reach that milestone while also being able to work less, live more, and find more fulfilment and joy in my business and life too.

Because I don’t believe that we should sacrifice ourselves in the pursuit of success, and I don’t believe that fast and furious is the very best way to build a business either. So in this episode I dive into why slower is sometimes better when it comes to business growth, why I believe it’s just as important to thrive in our life as it is to thrive in our work, and why how we experience the journey is always way more important than the destination we’re trying to reach.

And if you'd like to dive deeper into your own business, my Uncover Your Big-Hearted Business mini book may be a great place to start and you can download the PDF through this link here.

14 Nov 2018Why You Don't Want A Workshop, Course, Coach, Or Book To Tell You How To Run Your Business00:08:56

There's a whole lot of noise out there telling us how to build and run our business. But after four years of running my own business and supporting hundreds of my coaching clients in theirs too, I've learned over and over again that nobody knows what our business needs better than we do. And when we look to others to tell us what to do, we can usually find ourselves getting a little lost and disconnected from our business along the way.

So in today's episode I'm sharing why we shouldn't want a workshop, course, coach, or book to tell us how to run our business, and instead why they should be a catalyst for our own discovery and exploration in our work. Because when we look for someone else to tell us what to do, we outsource the leadership of our business and the only person who can ever truly lead it is ourselves.

So if you ever feel like you’ve been listening to all of the noise but you’re not feeling any closer to where you want to be in your work, this is the episode for you. My biggest hope is that today’s episode can encourage you to know that you are the expert of your own business, and that you are oh so capable of moving it forward every step of the way too.

And if you'd like to connect more you can find me over on Instagram, and dive into more of my work over at my website too.
