05 Feb 2023 | 317. Dr Ali Walker - A doctor of group dynamics can teach us about who we click and clash with | 01:12:54
What is an ex-criminal lawyer doing on the podcast you ask? Well, Dr Ali Walker wasn’t satisfied in that line of work and went on to study executive coaching and obtain a PhD in group dynamics. She wants all of us to have a framework and literacy around our own personality, energy, communication style and how we can contribute to group dynamics with our eyes wide open as well as understanding others better - at work, in our families in leadership. You’ll learn about high, mid and low-frequency types, as well as high, mid and low-intensity types and how we are all one of each in different combinations. You’ll even see Ali profile me live and absolutely nail my frequency and intensity combo type. Very cool. Knowing ourselves and being able to spot other people’s types helps us understand each other rather than have unnecessary misunderstandings and friction - Ali will help you take things way less personally about other people’s behaviour. Her new book “Click or Clash” is worth a read if you found today’s show interesting and want to go deeper. Profound work making relationships and group dynamics profoundly simpler! 14 May 2023 | 331. The Tiger Protocol to reverse disease with Dr. Akil Palanisamy | 00:54:00
Perhaps the best doctors to usher us into the new integrative era of medicine and root cause approaches, are the conventional doctors for whom a health crisis occured and they realised the tools they had been given we’re enough. This is a pattern I’ve noticed in interviewing now hundreds of doctors over the years and Akil is one such person. In today’s show we discuss why the integrative approach is far superior to conventional when it comes to the chronic disease epidemics we’re seeing all ovewr the world and how the protocol he has researched and developed over the years in his practice combines the best of multiple disciplines to support people in losing weight, gaming energy and reversing disease. Dr. Akil Palanisamy is a Harvard-trained physician, integrative medicine expert and author of The T.I.G.E.R. Protocol. Akil practices integrative medicine, blending his conventional medical expertise with holistic approaches including functional medicine and Ayurveda. 19 Aug 2018 | Show #101: Professor Will Steffen talks facts on Climate Change and what we can all do! | 01:01:33
Ever been to a climate change talk or watched a documentary and felt heavy, powerless, despair? Well, this conversation is going to leave you feeling different - can do, ra ra and empowered. Sound better? Let me tell you a bit about Professor Will… Will Steffen has a long history in international global change research, serving from 1998 to 2004 as Executive Director of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), based in Stockholm, Sweden, and before that as Executive Officer of IGBP's Global Change and Terrestrial Ecosystems project. Will was the Inaugural Director of the ANU Climate Change Institute, from 2008-2012. Prior to that, he was Director of the ANU Fenner School of Environment and Society. From 2004 to 2011 he served as science adviser to the Australian Government Department of Climate Change. He is currently a Climate Councillor with the Climate Institute, and from 2011 to 2013 was a Climate Commissioner on the Australian Government's Climate Commission; Chair of the Antarctic Science Advisory Committee, Co-Director of the Canberra Urban and Regional Futures (CURF) initiative and Member of the ACT Climate Change Council. Steffen's interests span a broad range within the fields of sustainability and Earth System science, with an emphasis on the science of climate change, approaches to climate change adaptation in land systems, incorporation of human processes in Earth System modelling and analysis; and the history and future of the relationship between humans and the rest of nature. So: We have a wonderful scientist with a long list of accomplishments in his career that has spanned decades and the best part is that he so passionately and simply states the issues, shares and helps us understand the science, looks at the future projections and what you and I can do to keep on the good side of mother nature. I've wanted to do a show on climate change for a long while and finding Will has meant the perfect show embedded with the low tox values of empowered joyful change, rather than paralysis and overwhelm in the face of the world's biggest issue. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you. 04 Nov 2018 | Show #113: Jonathan Latham on understanding genetics, GMOs, roundup and the food movement | 01:38:42
It's a brilliant science nerd alert this week for you on the show as I bring you Jonathan R Latham, PhD who is co-founder and Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project and the Editor of Independent Science News. Dr Latham is also the Director of the Poison Papers project which publicizes documents of the chemical industry and its regulators. Dr. Latham holds a Masters degree in Crop Genetics and a PhD in Virology. He was subsequently a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Genetics, University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has published scientific papers in disciplines as diverse as plant ecology, plant virology, genetics and genetic engineering. Dr Latham talks frequently at international events and scientific and regulatory conferences on the research conducted by the Project. He has written for Truthout, MIT Technology Review, the Guardian, Resilience, Salon.com, and many other magazines and websites. It's so important that if we're going to be ‘pro' a certain type of food that we need to truly understand what we're ‘against' so that when challenged we don't just heatedly say “it's toxic”. It's not enough and we need to meet curiosity with science so that people understand the informed position we're taking. Here's the frame work for the chat Jonathan and I had: QUESTIONS Re the food movement: the 'feed the world' debate / your views / solutions that don't involve gmos in their current usage / soil depletion / ecological disruption etc... And what you're most excited about right now with the grass roots ground swell happening all around. The poison papers - how they came about / what the objective is / As a contributor - what does your role entail? / The records date back to the 1920s, so in looking back do we see - as with so many things supposedly 'safe' then found harmful - timelines of examples (ddt / other chemicals)... Glyphosate / RoundUp got bumped back up to the top of conversation with the recent court ruling ordering Monsanto to pay $289USD to the groundskeeper of a school, finding that his cancer was caused by RoundUp usage: What can the poison papers reveal about RoundUp / Glyphosate? We can nut this section of the chat out more precisely before we hit record... Understanding genetics - What do we need to understand about the current GMO paradigm that isn't working for our health / planet's health? How does what's going on now negatively impact our health (BT toxin / Glyphosate ) and the planet's (monocropping / high herbicide / pesticide use etc) Is there any circumstance / example / technology that you've seen either in the works or currently used, which GMOs might work in our food system? And then more on what you want us to understand... dangers / evidence that's come to light etc. And of course, the usual tangents and twists you've come to expect on the show. 02 Jun 2019 | 142: Thyroid health starts in the cells with Dr Eric Balcavage | 01:30:27
How deep is your understanding of the thyroid? Dr. Eric Balcavage is my guest this week and is a chiropractic physician who has been in private practice in Glen Mills, PA since 1996. He received his Bachelor's degree in 1990 from Kutztown University and his Doctorate degree in 1995 from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Balcavage is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Board Certified in Integrative Medicine, along with being a licensed Chiropractor in Pennsylvania. Dr. Balcavage is continuously advancing his knowledge with post graduate studies. In this week's show you'll have a clear and deep understanding and feel more empowered to connect with doctors and other practitioners who can support you. So often people experience a range of symptoms caused by thyroid imbalances but did you know that A LOT is happening in the cells before the gland gets affected. And here's the kicker: It's often the TSH that's tested (that's the test that tells us if the gland is damaged. This show with Dr Eric Balcavage is your guide to not just the thyroid gland but what's happening at the cellular level WAY before problems with the gland show up. We go through testing, what to test as well as thyroid markers to see what the big picture is, the cell danger response, thyroid health at a cellular level, identifying your key stressors and bringing your body back to balance. 29 Oct 2017 | Show #59: Pukka Tea & Herbal Magic with Sebastien Pole | 00:54:45
I've loved Pukka teas ever since I came across them. Their packaging, their combinations of herbs, and later learning about their pass for the growth of organic agriculture and helping farms create viable businesses as their suppliers - needless to say it all sang to me. I knew I wanted to take a look into how it all began and discuss the power of the humble herbal tea, with co-founder Sebastian Pole. Recently I was also interested to learn of Unilever acquiring them and then seeing a few ‘hate threads' online, threatening abandonment, I thought: No. This is a chance for us to hear from the horse's mouth about what is taken into consideration in such an offer. The main body of this brilliant chat with Sebastian, however, goes way beyond that recent event, and we look at how it all began, how the blends are created and what they want to achieve into the future. We even talk “What are your desert Island tea choices?” Big hearted business. Big goals. Change on a huge scale. Inspiring stuff. We talk Natto, Liver, Heart and Marrow - Why they are unbelievable powerhouses for our health and how to easily incorporate them into our weekly planning. Getting a super clear understanding on the vital need for K2 and its role in transporting minerals to where they're needed is a brilliant look at how a few tiny changes to the weekly meal planning, can pay off big dividends in your preventative health strategy. 07 Aug 2016 | Show #7: Deficiency Detective - What you might be missing! | 00:55:14
Today, Alexx speaks with Dr Leila Masson, a paediatrician she's invited on the show to discuss deficiencies. And while Dr Masson is a paediatrician, the information she shares is as much for adults as it is for kids - there's plenty for everyone in this show. So often we have symptoms that leave us feeling below par, and so often there are simple fixes - whether it's lifestyle change, supplementation or another little tweak to something going on. Today's chat with Leila Mason walks through super common nutrients and their deficiencies - magnesium, zinc, selenium and omega 3s. There are so many symptoms connected to these deficiencies and so many things we can do to correct them - whether by the food we eat, the stress we expose ourselves to, or working with a practitioner to address a bigger need and supplementation required. 09 Jun 2019 | 143: The End of Alzheimer’s with Dr Dale Bredesen | 01:13:14
Alzheimer's disease: It's something you dread that your future might reveal, and sadly the statistics are showing it to be more and more likely. 10 million cases of dementia are diagnosed worldwide each year, around 70% of those being an Alzheimer's diagnosis. This is all compounded by the fact that there's been very little progress in the past decades when it comes to treatment, much less reversal, so it's costing families and public health departments much heartache and money with the frustration of no real solutions in conventional medicine at this point. So where does that leave us in the hope stakes? Enter Dr Dale Bredesen. Dr Dale Bredesen, the author of New York Times bestseller “The End of Alzheimer's”, is my guest this week and I am so, so thrilled to present this interview that contains bucket loads of hope. He is at the forefront of cognitive decline science, treatment and reversal and holds the noble pursuit of solving the irreversible nature of many cognitive decline diseases before his time's up. In his paradigm-shifting book, Dr. Bredesen offers real hope to anyone looking to prevent and even reverse Alzheimer's disease and cognitive decline. This conversation goes deep into the why and the how of cognitive decline the different root causes of Alzheimer's disease, what exactly is happening in the brain to cause decline and how best to navigate options and protocols. Dale also reveals that we have 20 years of signs that are treatable and reversible before the onset of Alzheimer's so this illustrates to me just how empowered we can be when it comes to our health in the face of much doom and gloom surrounding this difficult disease on not just the patient but everyone in the family. And all from such humble beginnings with health adversity, homelessness and dropping out of school early. The only limits we have are those we place on ourselves and John not only proves it in his own life, but helps many around the world prove it to themselves.
QUESTIONS I asked John along with some juicy tangents along the way…

Cut to today and it's a huge business that Malcolm Rands the creator sees as only the beginning to the big picture difference he wants to make, facilitating more socially and ecologically conscious businesses and developing healthy and happy connected communities. 06 May 2018 | Show #86: Gero Leson from Dr Bronner’s: Doing our best in business for Spaceship Earth | 01:49:59
Very rarely do you find a company so transparent, so vocal about social and environmental injustice and so good at growing a healthy business, as Dr Bronner's. A family run business from way back, it's one of my favourites for many reasons. I wanted to bring on their VP Gero Leson a phd in environmental science, who works to set up incredible partnerships with communities in developing countries to set up their supply chain. Rarely do you get to look under the hood of a procurement and production cycle like this. It will also highlight that nothing is black and white and yes - shock horror - there can be such a thing as sustainable, ethical palm oil. This is for the nerds who just love digging into how business can be a HUGE part of the change towards a better world. Gero doesn't hold back. SUCH a good chat. 30 Jun 2019 | 146: Utopian community of Serenbe with Steve Nygren | 00:43:57
One of my favourite things to do for the show is to research people who are thought leaders and boy have I found one in Steve Nygren, co creator of “Serenbe”. Imagine a land plan that could provide for 20% more housing while saving 70% of the land for agriculture and recreation. Sounds impossible, right? In 2004, the Nygrens began development of Serenbe the community to demonstrate that it was absolutely possible and I talk to Steve about how it came to be that he could imagine this place and then bring it to life. The result is reminiscent of century-old communities connected to current technology. Steve has chaired many local and state boards and currently serves on three national boards dealing with environmental issues. Enjoy this show and inspiring story that will have us challenging the need to build concrete jungles to house everyone, and reimagine our urban futures. 29 Nov 2020 | 214: The Conscious Builder - Making conscious decisions around your home renovation and build | 01:05:27
Building and renovating is something we get asked about a lot and anyone who's met me knows, I am NOT the best person to ask. I do however know how to find the best people to help us all navigate these bigger low tox goals and substantial investments to make the most of what is often one's life's savings and dream home vision. Enter one of two builders I've got on the show this week bringing you a northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere perspective: First up, Canada's Casey Grey, aka the Conscious Builder. Casey was born to build as demonstrated by a voracious lego habit as a child, a passion for construction and seeing how things fit together, leading to his first job in construction at 17 and his own construction business a few years later. One day asking “WHY?” he realised he wanted to fulfil a bigger purpose than simply building houses for people, but making the experience a conscious, low impact one from start to finish: The Conscious Builder was born and the rest is history. 21 Oct 2018 | Show #111: Dr Libby Weaver on rushing women and The Beauty Guide | 01:08:40
At long last, the stars align and Dr Libby is joining me for a chat. If you've been under a rock, Dr Libby Weaver (PhD) is one of Australasia's leading nutritional biochemists, an author, a speaker and founder of the plant-based supplement range, Bio Blends. Armed with an abundance of knowledge, scientific research and a true desire to help people regain their energy and vitality, Dr Libby empowers and inspires people to take charge of their health and happiness through her books, live events and nutritional support range. Having sold over 350,000 books across New Zealand and Australia, she is an eleven-times bestselling author and published internationally including in UK, US, Canada, France, Germany, Russia and Italy. What I love most about Libby is her passion transference capability - it's one thing to be extremely knowledgeable, it's a gift to be able to then share that knowledge passionately and inspire action in others. Here are the questions I ask Libby today - and of course we go off on the usual tangents! Cave Woman vs Modern Woman which laid the foundation for your Rushing Women's Syndrome book and general awareness. How is this modern world affecting women at the biochemical level? How do we see our A to our B of de-stressing? (Often there are feelings of disempowerment / feeling trapped that prevent us from stepping into our power to make the necessary changes) Pulling back the covers on what's really driving your stress... Let's talk about the major potential factors here and how we go about looking into our lives for our personal stress drivers Something I've loved hearing you talk about also to challenge the idea that all busy-ness is 'bad' in the past, is "Is 'stress' stressing you out / could you view 'having a lot on' in your life, as NOT being stressful in the negative sense. Can you talk us through that for those who haven't heard you talk about this before? How do we go about reframing 'SO BUSY' to "A rich and fulfilling life" so that in the busy times of a life we're loving full of things we love doing / people we love seeing, we're not mounting a harmful stress response? Now onto your latest book - 11th best selling book to be exact! What called you to write The Beauty Guide? How are you seeing comparison culture play out for people? It's not just women either... men being constantly told how to have rock hard abs etc... Is it really that different having online in the mix now? (Will add anecdote about a friend recounting her "who's got the best legs" lunch time school yard comparisons in Year 9... My friends all having to lay our bras out to discuss them / who had the coolest one. Are the teens, and then later women, of today feeling it even more with the added 'never switch off' potential fort comparisons to be made? How do we go about loving our bodies - many women just wouldn't know how to unpack their body hatred / how it started / how to move towards a conversation of love with their bodies. If we've time: Botox and other obsessions with never feeing that we're enough in our natural states? Is botox dangerous? Any research coming out yet?
What to put on your skin – hormone-disrupting substances A topic after my own heart as you know... How do we go about repairing the damage that possibly decades (and generations) of endocrine disruptive chemicals have caused us? Detoxifying fat soluble / water soluble chemicals / obesogens... We're often told by the holistic-health-skeptics "Oh it's nonsense that people need to actively seek out additional detox protocols / programs, we have a liver!" BUT... We have never had a liver burdened by the level of things it's burdened by these days: What are some of your favourite liver support and repair strategies as we reduce every day toxins and start to ease the load. Julia Edgely joined us on the show recently to dive into the world of homeopathy, its history, the theory, the significance of different strengths of remedies and the ways homeopathy can be a big player in your life. Today’s show is actually a Low Tox Club member masterclass, which we run each month for our members, that - because it was just so useful and powerful when it comes to viral and bacterial infections - I felt compelled for everyone who listens to the show to get access to it as well, as well as giving you a window into what our masterclasses are like. In today’s show, we dive into the details of viral and bacterial infections and what remedies you need in your kit to deal with the onset and treatment of the infection at hand - we even go into the significance of different presentations of SNOT and what it tells us/what remedy we might need. We also cover red flags for when doctor/emergency care is warranted. It’s so useful and I’ve already expanded my homeopathic kit accordingly - I know you will too. 27 Jun 2021 | 241. Days Like These: Parenting comfort with Pip Lincolne | 01:26:18
This week continuing our parents and kids series, I interview Pip Lincolne, author of the book “Days Like These” which really is a hug in a book for parents, whether you have one child, two or several, whether you have a generally great time as a parent or find it often a very challenging experience, or float somewhere between the two. Parenting is an incredibly expansive experience that fills our days with many, many things to do just to keep our little people alive and growing and as they get older, to support them in starting to make their own decisions in a healthy way. We forget that we might need support and care during this time to help us thrive through the monumental task at hand and so this show, we explore what that help, support and connection looks like. I love the example of the shower, when thinking about the challenges of parenting at the newborn stage. I remember before I became a parent, secretly wondering how on earth my highly intelligent friends who'd had a baby couldn't get showered and changed in the morning and were still in pyjamas at 4pm! Of course all was revealed in time when my boy came along, darn it. I laughed at my pre-mum self as I dragged the bouncer into the bathroom at 3pm one day so that I could have a shower and keep my eye on him if he got upset. Sound familiar? This week my show guest is farmer, Charlie Arnott who took his family farm reigns in 1997 in Boorowa, where they'd been farming for 50 years. After a series of epiphanies through education, steered them towards regenerative agriculture using biodynamic principles. In today's show we talk about Charlie's farming journey, his decision to move away from trying to get nature to do what HE wanted, and instead working to learn how best to collaborate with nature - something he believes is key to not only a prosperous farming business but also to a farmer's mental health and the land's health. It's an inspiring deep dive into biodynamics and regenerative agriculture, as well as looking at some of the biggest challenges of our time ethically with factory farming and live export, as well as climate change and drought. 22 May 2022 | 284. Discovered Wildfoods - wild game for healthier people and planet? | 01:13:11
Firstly, as with all shows we've done on food - I'm not here to tell you what to eat. I'll leave that to the doctors to guide you through, but what I am passionate about, is guiding big picture, grey area thinking in this polarised world trying to oversimplify things in black and white narratives which we all end up fighting each other over. No thanks. Not productive and I truly believe there's room for every type of eater to do better for their health and our planet and animals - whether you eat animals or not. To that end, this week we're talking about the impact of wild animals on the landscape - both the wild, native landscape and the farms where food is grown and ask: Could this be the most ethical, environmental meat solution yet? During the pandemic, Billy Staughton & Tara Medina (Discovered Wildfoods) launched their brand of wild-harvested Sambar venison. Coming from diverse backgrounds in events, music festivals, bars, management consulting and even stints as a jackeroo, a wild game near business seemed the logical next step. It posed many challenges but after years of getting the supply chain right, they've not only found a solution to help restore pristine native habitats being threatened by invasive wild game but deliver an ethically harvested, incredibly nutritious meat to Australians. 04 Mar 2018 | Show #77: Alexx talks about moving from her water damaged building & starts her first low tox trial! | 00:52:44
This week I'm sharing a bit about what I did in my journey to finally realising my building was water damaged and moving home, as well as some of the decisions we made around leaving things behind, replacing them and NOT replacing anything that wasn't essential. I share how I cleaned the lego, the clothes and the furniture that we were taking and what sorts of products I used. At the end of the show I launch my first month long trial… The Low Tox life is always about gently building awareness around an aspect of life and stepping up where we can once we KNOW. This trial speaks to my desire to keep things spacious and light at home after all the decluttering as well as saving money to recover from the massive expenditure of couch and beds and moving and I'll be asking myself this: Is it useful, beautiful or necessary? 02 Sep 2018 | Show #103: Meet the modern mystic Belinda Davidson | 01:11:47
Imagine just working through your emails and Gregoire from 1789 comes trotting past you with a smile - don't know about you but I would NOT get much work done if that were to happen to me. This week on the show I interview a psychic - the modern mystic Belinda Davidson. What a special conversation this is and I was quite taken aback by how pragmatic and non woo woo Belinda was. It's not every day that we get to spend time understanding how life must be when you've got a foot in our world, and another foot somewhere else. Belinda doesn't ascribe to any particular religious or spiritual tradition. She simply shares her insights and expertise to help you discover your soul, stay connected to it, and boldly live your unique and magnificent soul purpose. To thine own self be true, is her life motto. She is DEFINITELY not a newbie intuitive or spiritual coach who just popped up last week. Belinda was born psychic, and has been working as a professional intuitive for more than twenty years. And when she used to give readings, she had a two-year waitlist. Here are the questions I asked Belinda (and a few extra ones where we went on delicious tangents - you guys know how I love those, right?)

One day I was researching rice bran oil for our Low tox community. I didn't have to look far when I found Cyndi's research on it and over the years since, Cyndi and I have met and exchanged like minded chats on food industry motive, back door deals done to skew our understanding of what makes a healthy food mix, and I knew there was no one better to invite onto the show to share our listener's biggest food confusion issues today. We talk about fats, sugars, wheat, meat and more in a serious debunking session to leave you clearer on what ‘eating healthy' really means. 13 Jan 2019 | 122: On women and stress: Dr Carrie Jones & Dr Libby Weaver. | 00:56:30
So the second and last ‘mash up week' of the summer series is a topic I see so many women struggle with in our community and even though we can be the most chilled out person (like me!) stress can be body stress from chronic illness also (like me with CIRS) so it can have a double meaning and root stress, yet a similar physiological cascade down stream. I loved both of these conversations in their entirety so if you love today's mash up I'd encourage you to go back and listen to both the originals. These women champion women's health in a powerful way and today we talk cortisol / cortisone balance and relationship, Estrogen, the HPA Axis and adrenal fatigue, “Rushing women syndrome”, how stress manifests, how we can change our view of stress and how wee get to show up in the world. 13 Mar 2022 | 274. Terramation: Turning Death into Life. | 00:57:02
This week, a heads up that in this episode we talk about death and dying a lot so if this is raw for you right now, you might want to skip it and I'm sending you strength and hugs. Micah Truman and Brie Smith from Return Home discuss how they're making an impact on the planet and on the grieving process for the families they support as their loved ones pass away, by creating a system by which families can move through the grieving produce for weeks by their loved ones' side, and receive the gift of fertile soil at the end of that process. I found it fascinating and it just made so much sense to me as I learnt about how it works and what kind of experiences the families have in the process. I think in a culture that has taboos around death and dying and shame around grief, it's time for a new conversation and way forward I interview. 06 Dec 2020 | 216: Weleda - Planet stewardship through business | 00:42:55
Every once in a while a brand comes along that sets the standard for many to follow. One of those companies is indeed Weleda, founded by Rudolph Steiner 100 years ago next year, on the biodynamic principles he was defining at the time before being condemned by the Nazis - by Hitler himself - for his progressive ideas of oneness. From those first preparations, one of which is the still famous today, cult product Skin Food, has grown one of the biggest ethical, sustainable companies in the world. I am thrilled to have Annette Piperidis, International Strategic Sourcing Coordinator at Weleda global with us on the show, to take us under the hood of the brand and show us how they maintain high standards despite their scale. 04 Dec 2022 | 312. Operation Crayweed - A regenerative marine ecology project en route to success, with Adriana Verges | 00:51:08
This week I am thrilled to present you with an example of hope and progress in the regeneration space. With the right tools, funding and action we can rebuild the health of our planet and Professor Adriana Verges and her team are showing us the way with Operation Crayweed on the coast of Sydney, Australia - I’m so inspired to bring you this story because it shows a path of success and once we believe we can be successful in regeneration efforts, we see the evidence and positive effects, we then have more conviction and motivation and the ripple effects are in motion. Professor Vergés’s research focuses on the ecology and conservation of coastal marine habitats. In particular, her team investigates the ecological impacts of climate change in our oceans and develops hands-on restoration solutions to protect and conserve marine ecosystems including seagrass meadows, kelp forests and coral reefs. This week is all about taking action on food waste - which, if it was a country it would be the 3rd largest emitter behind China and the USA - It’s a BIG deal and instead we seem to keep focusing on what’s on the plate instead of what’s in the BIN! Hannah Churton literally lives to make people feel confident about bringing worm farming or composting solutions into your life and in this show we discuss best options for a range of home styles - including apartments without balconies - and we also discuss barriers to entry, hiccups when getting started and common trouble shoots and what to do. 17 Mar 2019 | 131: Mushrooms could save the world? Yes, says Julian Mitchell. | 01:03:56
Is there anything the humble mushroom cannot do? From repair damaged nerves, to fighting cancer proliferation, to improving focus or sleep… the resource is promising and building steadily. Add to that the incredible protein source they provide and their ability to grow from salvaged coffee grounds, and you have the makings for an excellent deep dive into the magic of mushrooms on today's show. I have the founder of Life Cykel Julian Mitchell on the show with me today and I know you'll love this conversation. Life Cykel is an evolutionary focused mycelium biotechnology company that engineers positive solutions to real world problems. Trust me, by the end of the chat, you'll know what that means. By harvesting the Circular Economy and using its valuable fuel in partnership with mushrooms, we are able to offer incredible products and services for our health and planetary harmony. Some of their best examples include the National Mushroom Network, Mushroom Honey and Beemunity, their product that supports the immunity of bees and boy do our beautiful bees need that, sadly! Julian and Ryan co-founded the company back in 2015. From there, it's quickly grown to become Australia's leading medicinal mushroom grower and still expanding rapidly, offering cutting-edge mushroom products and decentralised food security enablement packages (ie, hyper local food growing with their mushroom kits.) I hope you enjoy today's show as much as I did, and the show notes, low tox club details and sponsor offer can be found over at lowtoxlife.com/podcast Alexx x Here's what I asked Julian?

In a world where conversations exploring the grey area of big, complex situations is rare, I'm thrilled to bring you this conversation with Professor Maurie Cohen, Professor of Sustainability at New Jersey Institute of Technology. Most recently, Dr. Cohen has been looking at what the global slowdown has meant for the environment and sustainable living, and what it could mean if some of the radical changes in our everyday lifestyles and consumption habits persist long-term. His work and areas of discussion in this interview cover Environmental Social Science, Alternative Mobility Futures, Socio-Technical Transition Management, Sustainability Science, Environmental Policy and Sustainable Consumption. This week continuing our brain health series, I interview Dr Maya Shetreat - neurologist, herbalist, urban farmer and author of the best selling book The Dirt Cure. This time back on the show, Maya is talking about plants of all kinds for treatments of all kinds - from medicinal plants for every day healing, to plants containing psychedelics and the power of healing treatment-resistant mental health conditions such as depression and PTSD. She even teaches people online how to safely interact with psychedelics (I am not making a recommendation to start treating yourself, simply sharing what we are starting to learn about the power of these interventions, as started on the show last year with psychiatrist and neuroscientist Dr Dave Rabin and his work. 25 Oct 2020 | 209: Wade Lightheart: From Mr Universe to optimal health pioneer | 01:27:52
Wade Lightheart is someone who knows by sheer experience of failure, trial, test, measuring and eventual success, what the keys to optimal health are for humans. From his experience competing in the Mr Universe, to putting on a lot of body fat shortly after, to a tragic family story in his youth and much, much more, Wade arrived at the acronym A.W.E.S.O.M.E and turned his focus to supporting people through education and his renowned supplement company, BioOptimizers. He uncovered much of the shady-ness of the supplement industry in both research and manufacturing (if you want to dig deeper, I interviewed Kate Johnston/Holm on this last year, too!) and then started on a journey to independently support as many people as possible with the issues plaguing us today: Poor digestive health and the flow on effect in all areas of our health. We talk about what the second world war had to do with the food industry history, how what we eat today is very different to what every other animal's diet is, to how to reestablish great digestive health and vitality with some key basic concepts and changes. I hope you enjoy learning from Wade. A wealth of knowledge. Lots of health nuggets. 05 Dec 2021 | 264. Alyssa Couture on fashion for your health | 00:48:27
This week we're talking Fashion with Alyssa Couture - It's been a while since we discussed fashion on the show and today with Alyssa, we talk about fashion for health - like did you know that polyester, never mind the horror of microplastics, has an acidic ph and feels unnatural on the skin as well as increasing the chance of rashes, body odour and pore clogging? So today's conversation is one that goes very deep into fashion for people and the planet and I loved it. Alyssa's upcoming fashion book HEALTHY FASHION: THE DEEPER TRUTHS establishes an alternative approach to apparel. Her work Healthy Fashion creates + broadcasts enlightening content on fashion deemed medicinal and I think it's a must read - it's way easier to avoid buying excess or synthetic clothes when we really understand the multiple why-nots, right? 15 Oct 2017 | Show #57: Go Low Tox stories | 01:11:27
Every day people decide one day to explore what it might mean to ditch the nasty stuff and lower their toxic load across day to day life. I started 12 years ago and it was hard to find all the information and much of what was to be swapped didn't perform well and felt like a poor cousin to my high performance ‘convenient' cleaners and personal care products. Over time, environmental consciousness has exploded and so many beautiful businesses are producing low tox everything from mattresses to moisturiser, coffee cups to sunscreen and it's getting what seems to be easier - until you realise that labelling loopholes allow for a lot of grey area and high tox ingredients, to be inside tubes and pots that say “Natural” and “organic” on the front. I created GO Low Tox to be a global resource to learn the low tox vocabulary, get across the latest research and feel that you know exactly what to swap to and where to get it and in today's show, I wanted to invite a few past students to chat about how their journey has been in going low tox - the stress and confusion turned empowerment when like minded people get together and learn and grow together. I hope you enjoy their stories. Every day people are going to change the world and these are three short stories to prove it. 24 Nov 2019 | 167: Meet Steve Posselt: Author. Engineer. Climate Activist. | 01:03:14
Steve Posselt is an inspiring change maker whose story I am so happy to bring to the show where we talk about water issues, climate change, activism, personal empowerment and what to do when people vehemently disagree with you on big issues such as this. When he talks about the risks of climate change he does it in the most powerful way I've heard. He's a 66-year-old civil and water engineer, adventurer, and grandfather. He's a Fellow of Engineers Australia and has been a climate activist for well over a decade, using extremely long kayak journeys to promote awareness and education. Currently chair of the Sustainable Engineering Society he is working with Engineers Australia to come to grips with the urgency for climate change action. Old Yella, his wheeled kayak, has served him faithfully for 12 years over 12,000km, with almost 2,000km of that dragging it overland. Using his engineering knowledge his goal has been to alert people to the real risks that climate change presents and to put them into perspective against infrastructure risk calculations that we all depend on. Steve is passionate about doing whatever he can to provide a suitable world for his grandchildren. He is the author of Cry Me a River. Tough Is Not Enough is his second book. Unfortunately “shiny and sparkly” are words that don't come to mind when I chat to today's guest, Marc Choy, the only ethical, fairtrade gold jeweller in the USA and president of the Fair Jewellery Action Group. He wrote an expose called: Ethical Jewelry Expose: Lies, Damn Lies and Conflict Free Diamonds that we found when we were wanting to do a show on Jewellery and it is seriously confronting to learn that “Conflict free” doesn't, unfortunately, mean all that it conjures. Please don't feel riddled with guilt for what you didn't know yesterday, once you listen to today's show. 28 Jun 2020 | 192: My Chemical-free House, with Corrine Segura | 01:32:32
I first came across Corrine Segura's work in a google search. It was 2016, I was in an inflammation cascade that seemed to bring me a new and bizarre symptom every day and I was searching for answers that doctors weren't able to give me at the time. I suspected our home was the major culprit with water leaks and issues over the years but it was only an inkling at that stage. Coming across work like Corrine's, someone who'd walked the path of sick building syndrome, chronic fatigue, multiple chemical sensitivity and all the rest, she had turned her mess into the study of building biology to be able to support others. She's been a certified building biologist specialised in North America and Canada for 6 years now after her studies and the level of research she does for clients and her Facebook/Blog community is commendable. 03 Mar 2019 | 129: Life in Flow with Kate Kendall | 01:05:08
This week on the show I speak with author Kate Kendall, author of “Life in Flow” out now with Murdoch books. Kate shares myths about yoga and what it means to be a yogi (I learnt something new and it makes perfect sense!), how moving meditation can support us, what 90 seconds of feeling the feelings can do for us to bring us greater strength and joy and more. I‘ve known Kate since she was 12 and I was 17. We went to the same school and she was in my sister's year. Many years later it was so great to bump into her at an event and learn she taught yoga local to me. I'd always wanted to love yoga but hadn't found a way to understand why it was so special. I loved tennis and dance… fast, adrenalin fueled sports and yoga was a mystery, even though it looked appealing - all those calm, cool people looking strong and elegant and peaceful… So I went along to a class of Kate's at Flow Athletic and I was hooked. If you're in Sydney or visiting, treat yourself to a class with Kate and for today, we get to dive into the unlikely yogi journey she had to become one of the best-respected Yoga teachers in Australia and how everything she's learnt has been generously transposed now into her beautiful new book “Life In Flow”. How did you get into yoga? What's a yogi? Cause right now instagram says it's ultra-thin, completely stress-free, green smoothie worshipping award-winning photographers… Might make the average person feel like ‘they can't be a yogi', right? What are some of the myths you hear about yoga? In the simplest of terms, how do you define yoga? (You'll be surprised about the answer!) Was there a turning point that led you to find ‘flow'? What made you want to write a book? What are some of the yogic philosophies you explore in the book that we can all use in our every day? How did you decide what the chapters of “Life in Flow” were going to be? What are the ‘moving meditations' that you've incorporated into every chapter Let's talk about what's on the other side of uncomfortable feelings/sensations? What's the relationship between discipline and joy? What are your all-time favourite poses? Of all the inspiring authors you've soaked up, which you often share in class what you're reading at the moment, and what nuggets of wisdom are in the text… Do you have a favourite? 12 May 2019 | 139: Plastic Free South East Asia with Sarah Rhodes | 00:50:12
I love highlighting stories of people who woke up one day and started playing a bigger game to make a difference to health or our planet. This week's guest could be any of us. In June 2014, Sarah Rhodes, an Australian, attended an intensive training program on climate leadership, facilitated by Al Gore, former US Vice President and became part of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps. More inspired than ever and as part of her commitment to the program, Sarah set about engaging more people to take action against climate change. In July a friend invited her to join a month long challenge called Plastic Free July – the quest to avoid all single-use plastics for a whole month. This was a huge eye-opener to how much of the main plastics we all use and especially where there is plastic that is less obvious. In October of the same year, she moved to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where impacts of climate change are already felt – the time for action is now and now that she's heading up Plastic Free July for South East Asia, the future is bright and we talk about her journey and what the plastic situation is like in Asia, as well as what we can do to keep focused on progress instead of ‘how bad it all is'. 06 Nov 2022 | 308. Jeff Lieberman: From mess to message: How to support our teens into adulthood with “Sleepawake” | 01:18:45
Did you feel connected, supported and ready as you headed into adulthood? Did you know yourself? Well Jeff Lieberman didn’t and had a really tough time of teen life and early adulthood, despite from the outside looking like an all-star student and human with 4 university degrees, a successful large-scale art business and hosting a show on the History Channel. Jeff jokes that he learned quantum mechanics before learning about his emotions but is quick to point out the tragedy of this. He marvels at the fact that we can measure the external universe to 10-decimal accuracy, but most of us don’t learn about our insides: our emotions, what leads to flourishing, how to take great care of ourselves. Years of personal exploration transformed him, leading to a determination to not have the road to joy be difficult for others to find. He has spent the last 15 years training in meditation, personal development, and group dynamics for well being, facilitating high school students through a 3-week intensive and adults through an 18-month program. His new camp Sleepawake has had incredible results and in today’s show you’ll get a window into just how much we can do now, and for our young adults and teens, to steer a happier, healthier course as connected ,purposeful individuals and communities. 26 Feb 2023 | 320. Dr. James Khong, 81, on the key principles to thriving in an anxious world | 01:08:21
Dr James Khong has been a GP for 5 decades and at age 81, has wonderful wisdom to share with us in this week’s show. The solution to the ‘Stress Pandemic,’ as James calls these times, is a combination of Eastern and Western medicine, as well as following his Pillars of Health and reducing stress. I know you’ll love his calm reasoned and overwhelm-free approach in this show. James outlines his philosophy of wellness in his new book Pandemic Stress, Reflections of Thriving in an Anxious world - a book her wrote as a way to leave a legacy from his career and life. In over fifty years as a surgical registrar, emergency medicine specialist, innovative GP and medical consultant to the Australian Ballet, film and television industry, James Khong has had a front row seat of the medical ‘industry,’ and the view makes him sick. Ironically, it was a near-death-experience twenty years ago, which led to James’ epiphany about changing the status quo medical model. He started to combine traditional Chinese/Western/Functional medicine, which look for causes to illness, rather than just addressing the symptoms. James also introduced meditation and breathing exercises for stress reduction.

Well, there is a lot that our poop says about us and it's one of the greatest windows into the state of our health. It's fascinating what they cover in this conversation, from the good, the bad, the ugly, the squatty potties, the how to poop right, the when to get things checked out, the microbiome and your poop, the 18 inch long s bend pooptopia... Yes. You heard that right! Join in and let's break the tapoo on poop by going deep into the bowels of this subject - Ha! (Couldn't help myself.) I've popped a bonus show on today because we've found this wonderful online publication that's branching out into ethical city guides too, called Pebble. Georgina Wilson-Powell is the founder and it was wonderful to discuss how she came to realise that Pebble needed to happen, and what they're doing to be the change as a publication and share inspiring resources, ethical brands and more, to connect the low tox peeps out there in the world to the kind of investments they want to make for a better world - through something as simple as our wardrobe and more! This week I have the pleasure of talking to Dr Terry Wahls about her journey towards her diagnosing of progressive MS, how she initially treated it, when she realised things needed to change and how she then went onto become one of the leading researchers on how diet and lifestyle can impact neurological diseases and other diseases. We discuss the holes in pharmaceutical based approach, autoimmune diseases and how the research is working to understand them better, and the aspects of quietening (not curing!) one's illness that can't be eaten from a plate - it's SO much more than food! 08 Sep 2019 | 156: Where is your money and what is it doing for the world? | 01:06:06
In this week's show we talk about the enormous power we have in the way we invest our money: Ethical investing for the world we want to see! (This episode is not sponsored nor am I personally endorsing this exact investment fund as the one you should transfer to! It's simply a discussion about ethical investing, highlighting the great work one company is doing as an example) From today, what I hope this show will do is have us all ask ourselves: What does ethical investment look like for you on the micro-level in terms of what's going in your shopping basket and where is your money invested right now when it comes to finance, superannuation, your 401K etc? And then finally to look and ask: is there a disconnect? Adam Verwey is the founder of Future Super and an experienced ethical fund manager and Kirsten Hunt is the COO, passionate about advancing women's rights and financial opportunity. Together we all discuss the power in where we put our money and it's a wonderful discussion that will leave you with great tools to start asking powerful questions of the institutions where you have your money right now as well as researching the best aligned options when it comes to your values. 24 Sep 2017 | Show #54: You did WHAT for your health? With Guy Lawrence | 01:00:42
My guest this week is Guy, who I met when we were both speaking at a conference interstate. Guy, who's been in fitness and health for many years, having founded 180 Nutrition, is not just about the high quality protein… Turns out he has explored some seriously challenging ideas when it comes to optimising the body and mind, including ayahuasca (which comes with warnings in the show notes), the WIM HOF method where you explore the power of thermogenesis (freezing cold) on the body and mind, and a retreat with Dr Joe Dispenza, famous for his work in helping us rewire our brains. If way out retreats are your thing, you'll get an insight into what goes on and if they're not - it's so interesting to hear about people's experiences of such things, regardless. 15 Aug 2021 | 248. Fasting ins and outs for all with Dr Mindy Pelz | 01:23:35
This week to round out our brain series, I interview Dr Mindy Pelz, a passionate evidence-based proponent for fasting and what it can do for the human body - while the benefits to the brain are something we discuss towards the end of the interview, the interview is packed with everything you might have ever had a question about when it came to fasting - why should we care? How does it work? How do different time periods work in different ways? How are men and women different when it comes to fasting and considering women, how are pre and post menopausal women different? What if it's not ‘working'? What if I'm hungry? What if it makes me feel worse? But what about breakfast - isn't it important? I can honestly say, this is one of the most efficient, chock full interviews on a subject I've done and I challenge anyone to not at least be curious about fasting by the end of this 75 min conversation. 12 Nov 2017 | Show #61: Plant Food Inspiration with Maeve O'Meara's SBS series EARTH | 00:45:41
There are some Food series that touch your life profoundly - one such show for me was a series of Food Safari where Maeve toured through France with Guillaume Brahimi. Being half French there was obvious cultural appeal but there was something in the way that show was put together - one of the great story telling, discovery focused food series around. The new series EARTH, succeeds last year's “FIRE” series, this time focusing on the magic of plant based foods and how so many cultures in the world have treasure trove of inspiration when it comes to including more plant foods in your diet. It was such a pleasure to discuss the current series, available on SBS with presenter Maeve - hearing her share people's stories and talk about flavours and certain vegetables - you just feel like heading to a produce market instantly to inspire yourself for tonight's meal. Got thyroid challenges? Turns out that a staggering 80% of people being treated for thyroid conditions, wished there were new treatment options to consider - only 7% are happy with their treatment. Yikes! This week I have Dr Alan Christianson back on the show talking dietary research, thyroid and most specifically, iodine balance, sharing what he learned through research and clinical trials in his new book, the Thyroid Reset. Alan is a naturopathic physician with over 25 years in the medical field, who shares the vulnerability of his own struggles with weight at a young age (read his full story in the show notes - what a tale!) and why that formed his passion for helping people optimise their health using all tools and research available. 13 Nov 2022 | 309. Endometriosis with Alexandra Middleton, naturopath. | 01:23:44
Are you or someone you know experiencing heavy, painful periods or suspecting/diagnosed with endometriosis? Today’s guest, Alexandra Middleton received so little care in her early journey that she quit investment banking and studied naturopathy to better understand and support her disease and then work to support other women in clinical practice. Endometriosis has been vastly underdiagnosed with hundreds and thousands of women complaining of debilitating symptoms and pain with nothing more than a suggestion of a pain killer and rest. In today’s show we discuss what’s at play, what some of the root causes can be that contribute to the development and progression of endometriosis, and how looking after ourselves and our environment is key as we heal and recover - with or without surgical intervention. 02 Jul 2017 | Show #46: Genes, GMOs and Glyphosate with Professor Michael Antoniou. | 01:19:43
We hear about genetically modified foods now and then in the media but do we REALLY hear unbiased information, whether it be farmers that use them or manufacturers that tout their ability to ‘feed the world' or whether it be on blogs and natural health click bait sites warning that they are the root of all evil, bringing the world closer to impending doom? Alexx met Professor Antoniou at his King's College London lab at Guy's hospital (yes that's the kind of visit Alexx likes to make on holidays overseas!) to see first hand the test he was carrying out on what the effects of low level every day residue of pesticide, specifically glyphosate used heavily in GMO agriculture, might do to the body. 23 Sep 2018 | Show #107: Dr Lewis Ehrlich: Your holistic dentistry questions answered Part 1 | 01:19:47
Dr Lewis Ehrlich is a highly sought after holistic dentist who graduated from James Cook University (JCU) with the Academic Medal. With a background in professional sport and his passion for holistic health, Lewis focuses on the link between oral health and general overall health in his practice - it's why you'll never hear a bandaid solution for an oral health concern in my interviews with him! Before studying dentistry, he completed a Bachelor of Science at Northeastern University in Boston, USA after receiving a soccer scholarship where he played for 2 years. He then moved to Reykjavik, Iceland where he played professional soccer before moving into dentistry and now practicing at Sydney Holistic Dental. This show, part 1 of two that I'm recording with Dr Lewis, is the result of my asking the Low tox club chat group and alumni course groups if they had any ongoing concerns and questions about oral health - from teeth (grinding / enamel / cavities) to gums to oral microbiome to jaws to treatments and appliances and preventative health. There I was thinking I was going to be doing a show on grinding and appliance options with ‘a few' questions from you guys but when 100+ questions quickly presented themselves, I changed tack and turned it into a two part “All your holistic dentistry questions” answered. So in this show, part 1, we talk about tooth enamel - when it's weakened / why / what to do as well as various apparatuses you might be thinking about using be it metal wires, myo brace, invisalign, silicon and plastic plates and spacers etc. The show notes have a tonne of resources with toothpaste recommendations that both do and don't contain fluoride, as well as floss recommendations, useful extra-listening podcasts and Dr Lewis's practice details, as well as our show supporter offer. Head over to lowtoxlife.com/podcast for all the details. Here are the questions answered in this first FAQ with Lewis and we twist and tangent on all things oral care in between: On the enamel... My daughter has crap enamel. Tips to improve? She was recommended tooth mousse but has casein ( to which she is allergic). We do do cod liver oil ( Nordic naturals). We were also recommended the clear protective coating that lasts a few years, I believe it's made of plastic though! Would love to know more about that also. Why do we see such an influx of kids with hypoplasia (enamel not formed properly) and what are the REAL causes?! I just can't quite believe that it is something that happened in utero because the mother was ill or antibiotics may have played a part (neither applied to me and yet one of my kids has a severe case of hypoplasia). I know sooooo many kids with this problem, is there any new research that can pin point the cause of this yet? Maybe environmental causes (wouldn't it be crazy if we all found out it was an everyday toxin that caused this in this generation of kids). This is a really heartbreaking story for us, my son is only 7 and so conscious of his teeth and we are constantly at the specialist dentists, feeding him the best food possible etc. I also really want to know about hypoplasia! Is there anything we can do to improve it and strengthen the teeth? Is there some kind if plan we can follow to avoid lots of decay in the future? My daughter had perfect baby teeth and her new teeth have all started coming out blotchy and with discoloured patches. Poor thing is so self conscious already. Thanks for giving us the chance to ask. wanting to know about crap enamel and fluoride - is tooth mousse and fluoride in water REALLY necessary? We went and saw Lewis Ehrlich for my son and he recommended tooth mousse to help improve his enamel but then our current paediatric dentist (not a holistic one) said he doesn't believe the product is necessary and strongly advised to use fluoride to help strengthen the enamel. I would like to know the best option to help strengthen enamel low tox or not. I'm also very interested in hearing more about reversing and/or preventing demineralisation, particularly for women post birth. Seems to be a problem for many. Best treatment if any for fluorosis? And is the the prevention of this just avaoiding fluoride consumption? My 5 year old daughter has only ever used natural fluoride free tooth paste. She has spots on her teeth that are translucent rather than white. Is this from her natural tooth paste? She has only had antibiotics once in her life and her diet is excellent. On instruments / apparatuses / procedures / cosmetic dental Any thoughts on children having separators to make room for teeth? Is that a question or just the normal thing to do? I had invisalign done a few years ago and I'm wondering if there are any negative effects from this treatment and from the metal retainers on my teeth now? If you have already had Invisalign or have to wear a retainer at night (to prevent grinding) - is there a material that is preferable for construction? Thanks. Best way to whiten teeth Not sure if it's been mentioned but my daughter has stainless steel crowns from poorly formed molars. I want them out. But need some back as to why. Don't have access to holistic dentist. Are fissure seals necessary in kids? I have a bite splint as I'm a chronic grinder. I have been told that the splint material is the only option, it seems very plasticy to me and wondering how toxic it is as I would be grinding that and it would be entering my system. I've been told I need to wear it as I have had to have crowns to replace the teeth that I ground away so badly. Can you please ask about Mayo braces vs Invisalign? Young kids who will need braces or similar - is there any holistic early intervention or other options - Or mainstream orthodontists ok for that stuff? Implants...if despite seeing more than 6 different dentists, you choose not to get an implant, is there any drama just leaving a gap? I have a root canal which I know has cause some of my health issues. What is the best way to get it removed to ensue all the nastiest are removed & is it OK to just leave a gap or is it important to get an implant or denture. I need to have two false teeth put in on one post. Or a bridge. It's to replace a very old permanent bridge (Maryland bridge) for a small false tooth next to one of the front teeth. The front tooth it's fixed to also needs to go unfortunately. Anyway would love to know if any options are low tox. I'm also allergic to wearing stainless steel. I hadn't even thought about that as an issue until I read a comment above about stainless steel crowns. There were quite a few of us in the last ecourse wondering about the effect of metal wires behind teeth to keep teeth in place after braces etc. what are the long term/short term effects of the glue/metal and can they be mitigated? Is there a better solution? Due to the huge amount of people who have undergone teeth straightening it would be great to find out! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information. Continuing our “connecting to source” series interviewing regenerative farmers, futuresteaders, urban farmers and researchers, this week I interviewed Biodynamic Dairy farmer, Rob Watson, of Mungalli Creek in QLD. On Rob's farm you find rainforest, kangaroos and cassowaries all around and if one of the cow's is feeling a little unwell, you'll commonly find them being treated with homeopathics or special essential oil blends - what a life! If you want to look at how Biodynamic dairy farming works, I ask for a lot of technical detail, including details about what makes biodynamic farming and soil special, medical care of the animals, calves, life and death and production of the products. 21 Jun 2020 | 191: Alexx on what to look for to avoid water damage when choosing a home | 00:48:01
So you want to avoid water damage and mould in a new apartment or house: What do you do? In this show, I talk about some of the things I've been finding and looking for as my family looks for a place to live. There are tips and tools in this show to help you identify a potential issue either in your own home or a home you're considering moving into and it's my hope that after listening to this show and taking a look at some of the past shows on mold illness and water damage, that we raise awareness on just how important it is to keep an eye on issues with leaks and drips, the state of our rooves, the way water pools when it rains and start building and demanding healthier houses and maintaining them well for healthier people inside them!
