05 Jun 2024EPISODE 246: Interview with Dr. Stephen Furlich00:44:27

EPISODE 246: Interview with Dr Stephen Furlich. Dr. Stephen Furlich is the author of Nonverbal epiphany: Steps to Improve Your nonverbal Communication. He is also the best- selling author of a breakthrough book, Sex Talk: How Biological Sex Influences Gender Communication Differences Throughout Life's Stages. He has taught and researched communication at the university level for over 20 years. He has taught a variety of communication courses with the main focus of better understanding oneself and others. Often, his research projects and the courses that he taught,
complemented each other and lead into innovative directions.

Dr. Furlich has been an associate professor at Texas A & M University since 2018 and served as an assistant professor there for five years prior to that. He has presented at many conferences, including: DFW Metroplex Linguistics Conference, Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education Conference, E-Learning Conference, National Communication Association Conference, Southern States Communication Association Conference, International Academy of Business and Public Administration Disciplines, and International Conference of the American Pragmatics Association.

Dr. Furlich, who was recently interviewed by One America News Network, has been published in numerous journals, including: Texas Speech Communication Journal, Kentucky Journal of Communication, The Florida Communication Journal, Journal of Applied communication Research, Academic Exchange Quarterly, Journal of Integrated Social Sciences, and Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. His communication paradigm is from a receiver's perspective. This places the emphasis on the listener to better understand from the speaker's perspectives and as a speaker emphasizing understanding from the listener's perspectives. Both of these become more challenging as differences increase between the speaker and listener. Dr. Furlich has become fascinated with technological advancements in science that have enabled a better understanding of communication. Without these scientific advances, understanding communication is quite limited. This line of research has inspired him to write this book to bring together many different scientific studies to better understand the role of biology with nonverbal communication cues.

He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education, a Master of Arts in Communication
Studies, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Tech University. He resides in
McKinney Commerce, Texas. Follow his work at his website drstephenfurlich.com

11 Jan 2023Episode 206: Alan and Angie Thomas Interview00:43:33

EPISODE 206: Interview with Alan and Angie Thomas.

On March 2, 2017, at the age of 55, Alan Thomas stepped on his scale and it read 304 pounds. Literally, panic set in. It was the day after his 31st wedding anniversary, and 3 thoughts ran through his mind. First, he could not recall ever meeting a 65-year-old man that was more than 100 pounds overweight. His experience as a life insurance professional told him that he had less than 10 years to live. Second, he would likely be known as his wife Angie's first husband since he would probably be dead in less than 10 years. Third, all the dreams he hoped to accomplish in the future would be cut short by his obesity. In that state of panic, while still standing on the scale, Alan reached for his cell phone and snapped a picture, because at that moment he made the decision to never see those numbers on a scale that he stood on again... Fast forward 260 days, Alan stepped on the same scale and weighed 175 pounds. He conquered a lifelong battle with obesity in 260 days. Alan had been on dozens and dozens of diets and exercise plans and had never been able to take off the weight. Today, Alan coaches his clients to lose weight. His process, known as "Rethink Dieting," gets incredible results but Alan never tells anyone what to eat or what exercises to do. Alan's clients unlock their potential as the weight releases. According to Alan, "If a diet or exercise plan were the answer, everyone would already be at their ideal weight. "The solution is never a diet it's a decision."

Instead, she assumes innate curiosity in all people and crafts workshops and activities that invite introspection. She’s at her happiest when demonstrating consent with youngsters, guiding youth into comfort surrounding condoms, and answering questions about sexuality honestly. She facilitates her own version of the Our Whole Lives curriculum adapting the workshops to fit diverse audiences. This non-coercive, comprehensive approach to sex ed is what we all wished we had in high school.

06 Apr 2023Episode 213: Emma and Fin Interview00:48:25

Episode 213: Emma and Fin Interview. For Emma and Fin, life is all about seeking out adventure, embracing the chaos, and meeting amazing people along the way. They are in their mid thirties, met in seventh grade, and have been together since their freshman year of college. A year or so into their relationship it was obvious that exploring everything life had to offer was part of who they were as individuals, and as a team. They were very young at the time and neither had really experienced the world of dating, so they created a way to explore aspects of the dating world without ending their relationship, through non-monogamy. Fast forward about 11 years and they decided to start a weekly podcast called Normalizing Non-Monogamy in 2018. They absolutely love meeting new people and hearing their stories and through this podcast they get to interview people from all over the world who are exploring non-monogamy on their own terms. The hope is that if they can get enough of those stories out into the world that it will provide a resource for anyone who is considering non-monogamy. They also want to show that non-monogamy is more common than most people think and that it can be done in an ethical and consensual way. Overall, the mission is to inspire people to embrace their true selves so that, together, we can open minds and live authentically without shame.

EPISODE 231

Interview with Gordon and Jennifer.

Gordon and Jennifer – who have both been in marriages that failed due to infidelity on each of their partner’s part – met and have enjoyed a great relationship together, having lived in a monogamous marriage for 20 years. After reading some kinky books, searching other fun sexual activities, and their growing ever closer and curious about their own fantasies, Gordon and Jenn stepped out into the world to explore making some of these sexual fantasies a reality. Two years ago, starting with a threesome, after adventuring out to a sex club – because that experience was so fun and exciting – Gordon began seeing the excitement and motivation Jenn was having towards this new world. Yet pangs of some of the old feelings of his past marriage and the infidelity, that caused so much difficulty, came rushing back in. This is the reason that brings Gordon & Jennifer to the Jealousy Survival Guide (Loving Without Boundaries) coaching program.

12 May 2022EPISODE 190: Bomber and Belle Interview00:53:56

EPISODE 190 Interview with Bomber and Belle. Bomber and Belle are a Black married, professional couple that has embraced the sexy swinger lifestyle and are the host of the Black N Kinky Lifestyle Podcast.

They use their podcast to help other Black couples who are thinking about exploring non-monogamy or have already dared to traverse the swinger lifestyle and just want to listen to the steamy details of their sexy adventures. They created this podcast because they felt that the voice of People of Color in general and Black couples in particular has been absent from the conversation about swinging. Although people are people, being Black represents a different experience in a community that is almost predominantly older and White. This podcast may help give a voice to other people of color and White individuals who wish to gain a perspective from a group different from their own.
