And we go Around the Conference as Steve Sarkisian once again says he was not interested in the Alabama job, Kalen DeBoer is being more friendly at Bama for Spring Practice, and LSU wants to move Harold Perkins back to linebacker again. On today's show, we continue our 2024 SEC Player series with LSU wide receiver Kyle Parker as we discuss his decision to choose LSU last year as a four-star prospect as he redshirted behind future first round picks Brian Thomas Jr & Malik Nabers, and his expectations for himself for the upcoming season. Parker also discusses his decision to stick it out at LSU and not enter the transfer portal, while also competing with Kyren Lacy, Chris Hilton and others for playing time this season. We also get Parker's thoughts on LSU's new starting QB in Garrett Nussmeier, as well as the running back room, and the two new WR additions through the portal in Zavion Thomas and CJ Daniels. Parker also gives us his thoughts on LSU's improving defense, what he likes about Brian Kelly as a head coach, and his excitement for the upcoming NCAA college football video game. Also, we discuss the news that the Big 12 could sell naming rights to their conference with perhaps a company like Allstate that could purchase the rights - can you imagine the "Allstate 12" or the "Dr Pepper 12". And don't expect the SEC to be going that route any time soon. We also get you set for the start of the College World Series with four SEC teams getting underway this weekend. 22 Mar 2024 | Did John Calipari Coach his Last Game at Kentucky?, Rough Tourney Day for SEC, Bama Recruiting Rolls | 00:28:13
On today's show, we react to Kentucky basketball losing in the first round to Oakland, and ask if John Calipari just coached his last game at UK. Losing as a 3-seed to a 14-seed, with several early NCAA Tournament exits for Cal could lead many decision makers at UK to make a tough decision. But with Cal's buyout around $33 million, it would take Calipari stepping aside himself. And if Kentucky did part ways with Coach Cal, where could they go for their next coach? With Nate Oats likely off the table with a new massive buyout, some reports say they could consider the likes of Scott Drew, Eric Musselman, Mark Few or even Chris Beard. The Tennessee Volunteers saved the day for the SEC on Thursday, beating St Peter's, while Kentucky, South Carolina and Mississippi State all left in the first round. And that has led to many criticizing Greg Sankey over his recent comments saying there should be a path for more SEC teams to make the tournament. Lastly, Alabama football recruiting is off to a hot start for 2025, with Kalen DeBoer picking up several big recruits this week and in the month of March so far. 19 Jan 2024 | Texas Mad Over 'Horns Down' - Wait Until the SEC Arrives, More Bama Movement, Auburn Eyeing Another QB? | 00:27:44
On today's show, Texas basketball coach Rodney Terry took exception to the Horns Down gesture? They should really get over it before they come to the SEC. This is a conference where a Bama fan poisoned Auburn's trees, where LSU cooks gator and pig during rivalry weeks, where Vol fans throw golf balls at Lane Kiffin - a horns down gesture is tame when it comes to fans of the Southeastern Conference. Also, Sark adds former Bama TE Amari Niblack to go with WR Isaiah Bond. Also, we catch you up on the news at Alabama, as Kalen DeBoer hires another piece to his staff in former Wisconsin co-DC Colin Hitschler. 21 Jun 2024 | Too Much Hype for Texas in 2024?, Ole Miss Over-Hyped?, Who Is Under-Hyped in the SEC? | 00:36:19
It is hype season across the SEC and college football, so as we are joined by our buddy Chris Marler, we debut a segment called "Chill The Hell Out", as we talk about teams that folks are maybe TOO high on this offseason. Gordy makes a case for the Texas Longhorns getting too much hype as many pundits are putting them with Georgia as the two best teams in the SEC in 2024. Marler gives his thoughts on the Longhorns as well as they make their debut season in the SEC. Is Ole Miss getting too much hype this offseason? Are expectations TOO high on Lane Kiffin in 2024 as they're being billed as "Championship or Bust." Marler makes a case for Missouri to perhaps take a step back from last season. Marler also thinks that Alabama could be being over-hyped in 2024, as Kalen DeBoer tries to settle into his new gig and coaching in a brutally tough conference with a very difficult schedule. Lastly, we take a look at a few teams that may be under-hyped, meaning nobody is talking about them or expecting very much from them. Gordy makes a case for Arkansas, not to be a playoff team, but perhaps to win 8 or 9 games this year with Bobby Petrino and Taylen Green. Marler says he likes Tennessee as a playoff team, led by Nico Iamaleava who is surrounded by offensive weapons. Marler also likes Texas A&M as a team that could be flying under that radar and could surprise this season if Conner Weigman plays well, and Kentucky with all the portal weapons they brought in including QB Brock Vandagriff. 07 Jun 2024 | Ole Miss Loses Portal RB Commit Croskey-Merritt, CFB Playoff Dates & Times Set, Bruce Pearl & UConn? | 00:28:15
On today's show, we run through the news that OIe Miss transfer RB commit Jacory Croskey-Merritt has flipped his commitment from the Rebels back to Arizona. The former New Mexico running back was expected to join a group that could go RB-by-committee, after losing Quinshon Judkins to the portal this offseason. Instead, the Rebels will need to lean on returnee Ulysses Bentley and transfers Henry Parrish from Miami, Rashas Amos from Miami of Ohio, and Clemson RB Domonique Thomas. Former LSU RB Logan Diggs underwent offseason surgery and is expected to out a while. Also, we run through the dates and times released by ESPN for the 12-Team College Football Playoff in 2024-25. Georgia picks up a big time linebacker commit, while Auburn adds a cornerback recruit. And we get the latest update on Auburn RB Brian Battie, and could Bruce Pearl leave Auburn for UConn if Dan Hurley does indeed leave for the Los Angeles Lakers? 21 Mar 2024 | SEC Gets Lazy with 2025 Schedule, Sticking with 8-Game Conference Schedule Again, Same Opponents | 00:36:06
We react to the news that the SEC is sticking with an 8-game conference schedule once again in 2025, when many thought they would be shifting to nine SEC games. Not only that, but they're going to keep the SAME opponents from 2024, just flip home and away. Seems pretty lazy, Greg Sankey. Our buddy Chris Marler joins the show to give his thoughts, as the guys discuss of course this all motivated by money. But who benefits most from keeping the same opponents two years in a row? Mizzou looks like Eli Drinkwitz could certainly run off several consecutive years of 10-win seasons. But who doesn't benefit from the same opponents? How about Kalen DeBoer and Alabama? The Tide will have make road trips to Auburn, Georgia & Mizzou while hosting LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Brutal. In addition, there are reports the SEC Network games could shift to 45 minutes later with the new scheduling on ESPN owned channels to stagger the games. We also talk with Marler about Kadyn Proctor transferring BACK to Alabama and much more. On today's show, we discuss the possibility of the CFP management committee discussing the 12-team CFP expanding to a 14-team playoff by 2026, while the SEC & Big10 push for several automatic qualifying bids for their conferences, & much more. It's time to start realizing how much more difficult it will become to win a National Championship. We also run through ESPN's piece breaking down the "Biggest Spring Questions" for their Top 25 teams, which includes NINE teams from the SEC. Questions pertain to Georgia rebuilding its secondary, Texas retooling their passing game, Ole Miss transitioning with a ton of transfers, and more. And we go Around The Conference as Alabama ousts the voice of the Crimson Tide Eli Gold, as he says he's still healthy and still wants to work. Also, it sounds like Georgia State is eyeing some Georgia assistants for their head coaching job, and Johnny Manziel has some interesting comments regarding his time at Texas A&M. 18 Jun 2024 | Les Miles Wants His Wins Back But Is He A Hall Of Famer?, SEC Recruiting News, 5 SEC Heisman Hopefuls | 00:28:26
On today's show, we discuss the news that Les Miles has filed a lawsuit against LSU and others for his 37 vacated wins that dropped his win percentage below .600, thus making him ineligible for the College Football Hall of Fame. For the record, vacating wins is silly, and does nothing to take away from the memory of the wins. But is Les Miles a Hall Of Famer? And can we make a case for Les Miles and not Mike Leach? Worth noting Miles' vacated wins pertains to a former o-lineman who took improper benefits from a booster, but should Miles' loss of wins over multiple season be the ultimate punishment? We also get you an SEC recruiting Roundup as several players have committed to the class of 2025 like Mizzou ATH Jamarion Morrow, Auburn safety Eric Winters, Ole Miss DL Andrew Maddox and Alabama DL London Simmons; and a few for the Class of 2026 as Texas adds QB Dia Bell and Florida adds CB Jaelen Waters. In addition, we run through On3's Top 5 SEC Heisman Hopefuls for 2024, and they all happen to be quarterbacks. But the rankings might be a bit mixed up.
