Bruce Cassidy wasted little time to blast his team following a 6-5 OT loss to the Devils at The Rock in New Jersey. Tyler Toffoli of the Devils capped off his hat trick off a turnover by Brett Howden of VGK, who was -5 in plus/minus for the night. Cassidy said the loss was "tough to digest." He said the Golden Knights played "like a beer league game." The VGK defense played, perhaps, it's worse game too. Cassidy said the D-corps wasn't good as a group. One bright spot was Jonathan Marchessault, who tallied two goals in defeat. He has a four game goal streak and has scored five goals over the past four games. Tuesday, the Golden Knights face the rejuvenated Islanders, who recently fired head coach Lane Lambert and replaced him with former NHL star goalie Patrick Roy. VGK won 5-2 in the last meeting at T-Mobile Arena on Jan. 9. The Isles won the first game under Roy in overtime Sunday over Dallas. We also have our locks and predictions on today's show.

The Golden Knights special teams were not exceptional this past season, although the power play unit finished in the top 10 (7th), but fell apart on the penalty kill at 16. A lot can be attributed to the number of different players that were on those units due to injuries. Will VGK be better on special teams when 100% next season? The Golden Knights fell to the Kings last night in a preseason meeting at the Fortress 3-2 Wednesday night. The Golden Knights goals came off the sticks of Noah Hanifin and Tanner Laczynski, who also assisted on the Hanifin goal. Ilya Samsonov played the entire game for VGK stopping 27 of 30 shots on net. We also talk about the VGK defense.

VGK opens its home preseason schedule Wednesday night at the Fortress and they entertain the L.A. Kings. With a reduced (by one game) schedule, Bruce Cassidy could have a number of veterans on the ice tonight for VGK. The Kings lost their opener in Utah 3-2 in O.T. VGK won on the road at San Jose. Cassidy talked about "shooting for sticks" at Tuesday's presser and said William Karlsson was on a maintenance day and won't play tonight. There's speculation Karlsson suffered an injury this week.

VGK looks for revenge against the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night on the road following last week's 7-3 loss on home ice to the Leafs. VGK will also try to break a three-game losing streak. Adin Hill, who was chased in last week's matchup, will start again in net. He has lost his last four starts. Bruce Cassidy believes his veteran group of players will want to play harder in Tuesday's game. Cassidy also said his pre-scout was done last week so he just needs to make some adjustments. Cassidy said the power play unit needs to be simplified. He's looking to have his Golden Knights play more downhill on the power play with the absence of Jack Eichel and Mark Stone. According to national media reports, there have been several teams inquiring about VGK goaltenders Adin Hill and Logan Thompson. Both have expiring contracts after this season. According to David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period, theams that have inquired about VGK netminders include Toronto, Ottawa, Detroit, Buffalo and Carolina. One of the top targets in free agency for VGK is Linus Ullmark, of Boston. Reports say VGK and Ottawa are said to be frontrunners. Team USA came out swinging in Saturday's 4 Nations meeting against Team Canada. In fact, the puck hadn't even dropped when Matthew Tkachuk dropped his gloves against Brandon Hagel. Now that the Golden Knights have locked in Noah Hanifin's new contract extension for eight years at $7.35 AAV, how much would Jonathan Marchessault command on the open market? Marchessault is in the final year of his contract and has 67 points including 41 goals. You have to believe his minimum contract would be in the vicinity of $8 million a year. Marchessault is 33 years old. We preview this weekend's games against the Wild Friday and the Avs on Sunday. And, it's WTF - What The Friday time again.

The Golden Knights banked seven points on the five-game road swing. They lost in a shootout on Wednesday night, but VGK had a strong road trip. Wednesday's game was low-scoring as the Avs won 2-1. The Golden Knights did not score in the shootout. VGK returns home and has a back-to-back at T-Mobile Arena this weekend with Winnipeg and Utah visiting the Fortress. The Golden Knights will welcome the new-ish Utah Hockey Club (formerly Arizona Coyotes) to T-Mobile Arena Friday night. VGK will probably focus more on themselves than their opponent after getting outshot 16-3 in the first period against the L.A. Kings earlier this week. They also allowed another power play goal - that's three in two games. William Karlsson still is out for VGK raising some concern. Coming off perhaps their worst loss of the season, the Golden Knights travel to Anaheim tonight hoping to get back on track against the bottom-feeding Ducks. VGK was dominated by the Canes 5-2 this week for its first home loss of the season in nine games. Now it's back on the road for VGK, where they only have one win this season. The Golden Knights beat the Ducks at home earlier this season, 3-1. But they struggled against Anaheim last season. We discuss VGK's lack of depth which has shown, especially with Mark Stone out of the lineup. And we have our Locks of the Knight.

The Golden Knights enter Thursday's game against the Kraken with a six point lead over the L.A. Kings. The Golden Knights played their first game of three in the next four nights, but looked like they were on the tail end of the weekend. A lackluster effort by VGK against the Islanders, as they were beaten in nearly every phase. VGK had a goal reversed after Tomas Hertl entered the zone offside. He finished the sequence with a goal, but it was taken off the board. VGK had the wind taken out of its sails after that. The Golden Knights registered their first win of the New Year Saturday night by defeating the New York Islanders 5-2 at T-Mobile Arena. The VGK got two goals apiece from Jack Eichel and Nic Roy. Eichel now has 16 points in his career vs the Isles. Logan Thompson, in his fifth consecutive start, turned away 28 of 30 shots. We have VGK injury updates as well. At times we felt Bruce Cassidy's system was too predictable this season. Bruce Cassidy sat veteran defensemen Nic Hague and Zach Whitecloud Sunday. You have to wonder if it will have an adverse effect on the Golden Knights in the locker room. Was it a temporary move, or is Cassidy sending a message to the two players. Granted he replaced them with Alec Martinez and Ben Hutton, but the message was sent loud and clear as Cassidy replaced two players that have been in the starting lineup for more than 50 games apiece. Cassidy benched Phil Kessel last year and in Boston, his benching of Jake DeBrusk, led to DeBrusk's agent going public with trade demands. VGK plays host to the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Tampa has won three straight and has a lot of firepower in its lineup. Nikita Kucherov has 114 points in 66 games. And, the Bolts come off a win over the hot Florida Panthers. The Golden Knights exploded for eight goals in the opener vs Colorado Wednesday night. VGK's top line of Eichel, Barbashev and Stone accounted for 11 points, led by Eichel's four assists on the night. Off-season acquisition Victor Olofsson had two goals in his VGK debut. The Golden Knights scored twice within :25 late in the first period to take a 3-1 lead. The Avs played the rest of the night playing catchup. Colorado's Mikko Rantanen had a hat trick in the loss. We highlight Jack Eichel and Victor Olofsson, two former teammates with Buffalo, who were reunited in Las Vegas.

The Golden Knights third period woes continued for a second game as VGK fell to the Hurricanes 3-1 Saturday night. VGK allowed two Carolina goals in the third period. They have dropped two games in a row, after winning twice after the All-Star Break. Jonathan Marchessault, again, scored the lone VGK goal. The Marchessault line with Barbeshev and Roy has now scored in 11 straight games. VGK gave up a shorthanded goal in a 1 on 3 in the game. We said Friday that special teams would probably determine the outcome. VGK plays a President's Day matinee in San Jose at 1pm. Despite being in last place, the Sharks are 1-2 after the break and have lost twice by one goal. Tomas Hertl and Logan Couture are both out of the lineup for the Sharks due to injuries. Eleven points outside of the playoff line, are the visiting Seattle Kraken looking towards the future? We will find out if the Kraken have anything left in the tank tonight. Seattle has dropped five straight, including the loss to VGK that could have been the dagger in Seattle's playoff hopes. VGK hopes to clean up its game. The Golden Knights came back from two goals down in the third period as Jonathan Marchessault, Pavel Dorofeyev and rookie Brendan Brisson scored in a four-minute span as VGK won it's third straight game and beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2. Brisson's first NHL goal turned out to be the game-winner. He said he blacked out and didn't remember much after the puck went into the net. Brisson scored the goal with both Sydney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the ice, so it made it even more special for the rookie. Brisson's dad, Pat, represents the two as an agent. Brisson grew up around the two Penguins stars. We also preview VGK-New Jersey. It will be the first game of a back-to-back for the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights suffered their fourth straight loss in falling to the St. Louis Blues 5-4 in a shootout. VGK rallied from two goals down in 2:40 to force overtime. Jack Eichel and Mark Stone missed shots in close that would have ended the game, before the Golden Knights fell in the shootout, 2-1. Jack Eichel and Pavel Dorofeyev scored the late VGK goals. The Golden Knights continued to give up goals late in periods - the Blues Nathan Walker scored with :17 to go in the first. Cam Fowler scored for StL with :31 remaining in the second period. At least VGK got a point in the loss. We talk about the hot stick of Tomas Hertl and Bruce Cassidy blasts the Golden Knights goalies.

At least Eichel, Stone and Hanifin had an excuse coming off the 4 Nations. What about the rest of the VGK team? The Golden Knights fell apart in the third period of last night's game, giving up four straight Kings goals enroute to a 5-2 loss. Bruce Cassidy afterward said VGK lost every puck battle and called the loss "inexcusable." The Kings meanwhile continued to roll, now 19-3-2 on home ice. Brayden McNabb and Mark Stone scored the goals for VGK. The Golden Knights led 2-1 through two periods before the third period meltdown. We talk about the Kings being serious contenders and we have our points predictions for the remainder of the season.

Eliott Friedman of Sportsnet cited sources Wednesday as saying VGK could be getting serious about trade talks with Toronto for Mitch Marner. He reported VGK could offer Shea Theodore and Logan Thompson as part of a potential trade. Marner would have to lift his No Move Clause to come to Las Vegas. And, VGK might have to sweeten the pot with a prospect or draft pick. We discuss the Battle 4 Vegas and this year's VGK lineup. And, we have our SCF Game 3 preview.

Kelly McCrimmon doubled down on his weekly radio interview that there will not be a major trade at this week's deadline. He said he doesn't feel any pressure to pull off a big deal. McCrimmon and his scouting team meet daily in Las Vegas this week to weigh any offers or trades. He said he doesn't believe VGK will be busy at Friday's trade deadline. We also discuss whether VGK has to still fill a winger spot on the top line. And, the Golden Knights have opened up a four-point lead over Edmonton in the division.

We discuss what lies ahead for the Vegas Golden Knights this season will this be a rebuild of the team after free agency or a season of transition. Only time will tell if dumping some of the free agent salaries was a good move or not. We talk about where VGK is rated on the most (or least) improved list. With teams improving in the Pacific Division, the path to the playoffs will be more difficult for VGK. The Division improved overall in the offseason. Three teams that made, perhaps, the most improvements are Vancouver, Edmonton and Seattle. The Kings didn't make many solid moves, but should still be in contention. Trade deadline acquisition Noah Hanifin was ranked 18th on the NHL Network's list of Top Twenty defensemen when the list was announced Wednesday. Last year, Alex Pietrangelo was rated 9th and Shea Theodore 18th on the preseason list. Neither made the list this year. Hanifin has been a solid player with a high hockey IQ. He missed just one game over the past three seasons (traveled to Las Vegas after the Calgary trade.) Hanifin had a career best 13 goals last season - 11 in Calgary. There are big expectations for the blueliner this season. We also discuss VGK's recent collapse in the middle third of seasons. And "Block Everything" is Cassidy's mantra.

NHL Fantasy came out with VGK projections for the upcoming season. The Golden Knights are led by Jack Eichel with 84 projected points. Tomas Hertl is projected to have 67 points, Mark stone 64 and William Karlsson 61. The projections also include 30 wins for Adin Hill, which would be a career high. We also talk about a Hertl interview, in which he says he is ready for this season following last season's knee surgery. And we have WTF fan comments.

Could Bruce Cassidy have stopped VGK from becoming complacent when he said he could see it coming? He said complacency set in when the Golden Knights returned as a fully healthy team. The Golden Knights lost to last-place Columbus Monday night 6-3 and Coach Bruce Cassidy said his team "doesn't want it." VGK sunk to 1-3-1 on the road trip and continues to freefall in the Pacific Division. Alexander Nylander scored a hat trick for CBJ. The third period slump continued with the Blue Jackets scoring three goals in the final period to break open the game. In the previous game at Buffalo, VGK allowed four goals in the final period. Cassidy is not pleased with VGK's effort. He felt they "don't have the will to comet for pucks." He said compete comes from inside. "It comes from within." We also ask what is VGK's biggest problem right now?

The Golden Knights will try to get off to a good start in their first game of the New Year. VGK hosts the Philadelphia Flyers, another Eastern Conference team. As we know VGK has struggled with teams from the East (4-5-1 and a three-game losing streak vs the East currently.) VGK looked tired in last night's loss at Washington 4-2. It became evident that the team had no legs as evidenced by three consecutive tripping penalties. Additionally, Ivan Barbeshev said spending that much time after the penalties occurred on the PK wore VGK down. Jack Eichel and Victor Olofsson scored goals for the Golden Knights in the loss. Olofsson was helped off the ice after he fell awkwardly in the corner. He was later seen by D.C. media on crutches. And we also talk about VGK's defense experiencing growning pains.

Tomas Hertl broke a 1-all tie in the third period and Keegan Kolesar added an insurance goal in Monday's 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at the Fortress. VGK now heads to the Christmas break with the best win percentage in the NHL. Tanne Pearson opened the scoring for VGK in the first period. We talk about VGK's Money Puck odds. VGK plays in its biggest game of the postseason so far, as the Golden Knights will attempt to break a 2-2 series tie with a win in Dallas tonight.  Each team has won on the road in this series and the Golden Knights are hoping to continue that trend and go up 3-2 in the series.  According to Bruce Cassidy, VGK has to clean up a lot of self-inflicted mistakes, mostly penalties and turnovers.  VGK needs to get some scoring punch, especially from its middle six. Monday, Cassidy inserted Michael Amadio into the lineup for the first time and he scored a goal and played well vs Dallas in the loss. We could see Pavel Dorofeyev draw into the lineup after Cassidy aluded to making a lineup change yesterday.  We talked about VGK losing in the faceoff area also.  And we have our locks and predictions for pivitol Game 5. 

VGK's Robin Lehner failed to show up for a mandatory preseason medical exam Wednesday. The Golden Knights might have to terminate his contract now. Would Lehner forfeit $4.5 million in his final contract year as a result? The NHL and NHLPA are investigating. The Golden Knights beat the Sharks in San Jose again. VGK beat the Sharks 4-2. Mark Stone, Whitecloud, Olofsson and Hertl scored goals in the win. VGK did get a power play goal from Olofsson, but they gave up two goals on the PK. At the nearly halfway mark we grade each player, the coaching, and more.

VGK lost to the L.A. Kings Sunday night, despite a Tomas Hertl hat trick in the game. The Golden Knights dug a deep hole, trailing 3-0 out of the chute. They had several comebacks in the game and came within a goal of tying the contest late, but still fell 6-5. The Kings won the season series 3-1 and scored 16 goals the past three meetings. They tied the game at 4-4, only to lose on a Bruins power play goal in the final 4+ minutes of the game. Boston had been just 4-36 on the power play coming into last night's game. Mason Lohre scored the game-winner. VGK tied it on the Chandler Stephenson breakaway goal in the third. The Golden Knights failed to score late in the contest on a 6-on-4 and 6-on-5 advantage. Morgan Geekie scored a hat trick on just three shots for the B's. We are all wondering if Jack Eichel will return vs his former team in Buffalo Saturday He has been on the ice skating with VGK the past couple of days. Buffalo is nine points out of a playoff spot, but has been playing better of late. And, we have our WTF comments and winners of pairs of tickets to the Vegas Thrill Women's volleyball match on Monday night at the Dollar Loan Center.

Bruce Cassidy said we can expect much of the same style the rest of the series between VGK and Minnesota. The Golden Knights and Wild played at a fast-pace and it was a physical game. VGK prevailed 4-2 before a T-Mobile crowd. Howden's first goal was on a missed assignment by the Wild's Zach Begosian. Howden had a clear path to the net where he beat Filip Gustaffson. It gave VGK a 3-1 lead at the time. His second goal was at the buzzer on an empty netter with :01 to go. We talk about the impact of Tomas Hertl who scored a goal after winning a face-off. The Golden Knights made several moves Tuesday in advance of their trip to Canada. Ben Hutton was placed on LTIR. Jonas Rondbjorg, Cal Burke and Mason Morelli were called up from Henderson. Mark Stone was placed on retroactive I-R and could play this week. VGK plays its first of five road games tonight in Toronto. The Maple Leafs are off to a great start, but will be playing without Austin Matthews, who is injured and in Germany visiting a specialist. The Leafs still have Mitch Marner, their leading scorer, and several other scoring options in the lineup. We have our Locks of the Knight.

The Golden Knights hit the ice Thursday for the first official practice sessions of the 2024-25 season. Bruce Cassidy unveiled his lines, which may or may not stick: Eichel with Barbeshev and Olofsson on the top line, Karlsson centering Stoen and Dorofeyev, Hertl on the third line with Roy and Holtz and Howden with Kolesar and Pearson. The defensive pairings are Theodore-Pietrangelo, Hague-Hanifin and McNabb-Whitecloud. Hill and Samsonov are the goalies. VGK is in a funk having lost 3 straight and 5 of 6. We discuss how we feel the Golden Knights can get out of this slump and preview VGK-St. Louis.

The Golden Knights start a road back-to-back in Raleigh on Friday, against the Canes, then travel to meet the Blackhawks in Chicago Saturday. VGK has dropped 3 of 4 and Carolina has lost two straight. Bruce Cassidy is concerned about his team trailing in several games this season. He is afraid it's becoming a trend, even though VGK has come from behind in 18 games this season to post victories. VGK will face a Blackhawks team on Saturday that is still trying to find its way. Second year player Connor Bedard leads the Hawks with 40 points. We also have our WTF segment with fan reactions.

Bruce Cassidy was ranked third in the NHL.com Super 16 coaches poll. Jon Cooper of Lightning, the longest tenured head coach in the league, was first. Paul Maurice was ranked second. Former Golden Knights head coach Pete DeBoer was fourth in the rankings. Cassidy won a Cup in Las Vegas and was a game-seven away from winning another Stanley Cup. We tell you details of the upcoming VGK Fan Fest, and we have the VGK rank in the Heaviest By Weight teams.

Connor McDavid is listed as day-to-day for the Oilers tonight in an important clash for VGK in the playoff chase. McDavid, who is third in the league with 130 points, missed practice twice this week after taking a hit from Blake Coleman of the Flames on Saturday. The Golden Knights still have plenty of other Oilers players that need to be marked in the contest. VGK is five points ahead of St. Louis and VGK still trails the Kings by a point, after Los Angeles lost at Anaheim Tuesday night. Bruce Cassidy said his team's attention to details has been slipping the past two games. The Golden Knights look to get back on track tonight. We look at the current standings and the battle for WC1. And, we have our Locks and Predictions for tonight's game.

The Golden Knights blanked the Calgary Flames for a second time this season on home ice. This time it was Ilya Samsonov who shut out the Flames 3-0 on 31 shots. Both he and Calgary goalie Dan Vladar were locked into a duel before Brett Howden broke the ice with 4:01 to go in the second period. That became the game winner. Samsonov had to withstand a lengthy penalty kill after back-to-back penalties on VGK. We recap Friday's win over the Sharks and the four-goal third period outburst for the Golden Knights. VGK has now won six straight games. We talk about the UNLV Rebels knocking off D1 Denver, and Derek Engelland is selected into the Southern Nevada Sport Hall of Fame. Knowing the history of the VGK organization, will Bruce Cassidy be on the hot seat to begin next season despite injuries and a lack of chemistry attributable to players returning to the lineup at different times? VGK was bounced from the playoffs after just one series in the playoffs after expecting another run for the Cup. Injuries will be a big part of the narrative when the team holds its final presser of the season. We discuss what we feel might be some of the discussions today. VGK is looking to extend its series lead to two games to none in the opening series vs Dallas having already taken home ice advantage away from the Stars. The Golden Knights held on to a 4-3 win in the opener. Bruce Casidy wants the Golden Knights to continue to play physical hockey. They more than doubled the amount of hits on Dallas on Monday night. We also will see how Mark Stone responds in Game 2 after playing in his first contest since Feb. 20. VGK scored twice on the power play unit Monday, so they will try to win the special teams phase again. Cassidy said his team will need to generate more chances to win Game 2. They only had 15 shots on net Monday. The only injury for the Golden Knights was Nic Hague, who left the ice with eight minutes remaining in the game. We will see if he is able to go tonight. Bruce Cassidy will try to counter Pete DeBoer's adjustments in what has become a chess match between the two coaches. DeBoer's team broke out faster from the goal line to the neutral zone which created odd-man rushes in bunches in Game 3. The Golden Knights lead the best-of-seven series 2-1, but the Stars have to be confident after taking the third game on the road. Dallas was the best road team in the NHL during the regular season. VGK didn't respond well to Cassidy's coaching on Saturday. Cassidy gave the team off Sunday because he said they were tired. Bruce Cassidy also admitted that Tomas Hertl has been moved to lineup on a wing with William Karlsson because he wants Hertl to take faceoffs. This could mean Karlsson, who missed two practices, has an injury of some sort. We also have our Game 4 Locks and Predictions.

VGK broke a scoreless tie early in the third period as the Golden Knights "powered" their way past the leg weary New Jersey Devils 2-0. Both Mark Stone and Noah Hanifin scored on the man advantage. Adin Hill turned back 25 shots in the win. It was his 36th start, a career high VGK had jump in the third period against the Devils, who played the day before in Utah. Jacob Markstrom was the surprise starter after being on the shelf with the Devils since January 22nd. We also talk about the weekend trades as the deadline approaches. And we discuss the latest trade targets for VGK.

The Golden Knights were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round as they fell to Dallas Sunday 2-1 in Game 7 of the series. We recap the final game of the season and the opening round series, one that VGK once led two-games-to-none. Scoring was down for VGK in the series. Brett Howden scored the only Golden Knights goal in the final game. Radek Faksa scored the game winner for the Stars early in the third on a backhander. Then the Dallas defensive lockdown took over. Post-game Bruce Cassidy said there were nine surgeries for his team this season. We talk about the turning point of the series and the Drivers and Passengers vs Dallas

The Daily Faceoff released salary projections for the top 75 NHL free agents. Jonathan Marchessault, the soon-to-be VGK free agent was ranked 6th on the list. What was surprising to us, was that analytical projection of $6.25-million over a three year term. We thought he would command somewhere between $7-8 million. We also look at other VGK free agents and their salary projections. And we look at other free agents on the list and who would fit in with the Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights fell 3-2 in a shootout in Denver Tuesday night, in doing so VGK collected the one point needed to gain home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. William Karlsson and Brayden McNabb scored for the Golden Knights in regulation. But the Golden Knights failed to scored in the overtime and shootout. VGK picked up five of the six points on the road. They lead the Pacific by six points with four games remaining. VGK played without four starters in the lineup including leading scorer Jack Eichel, who has an upper body injury. omas Hertl missed his eighth game and Nic Hague and Alex Pietrangelo missed Tuesday's game. We also talk about HSK's record breaking goalie Carl Lindbom.

The Golden Knights were shutout for the fifth time this season, losing 3-0 in Boston Wednesday night. VGK was expected to start Adin Hill in net after Logan Thompson became ill. But Hill suffered some sort of setback and was unable to be the starting goaltender. So Jiri Patera was called on to start and Isaiah Saville was called up from Henderson to serve as backup. To make matters worse, Michael Amadio had to be scratched due to illness so VGK went with the 11-7 structure in the game. The Avs scored twice on the power play, as special teams continue to be a weak spot with the club. Tonight, Bruce Cassidy faces his former team, the Boston Bruins, who also have injury concerns. Linus Ullman, the Vezina Trophy winner, was injured in Boston's OT loss in Phoenix two nights ago. They have also had numerous injuries and have used 17 line combinations this season. Bruce Cassidy didn't mince words following the Golden Knights loss to Winnipeg Thursday night 4-0. He said he was concerned about his team and their performance in the shutout loss to the Jets. Mark Stone also said he felt VGK was out of sync. The Golden Knights came out flat and chased the game all night. With the two losses to Edmonton and Winnipeg this week, the L.A. Kings closed ground and are just three points behind VGK currently, with seven games remaining. Cassidy sensed Adin Hill was tired and pulled him in the third period to give Akira Schmid some playing time. We prevew this weekends road back-to-back contests against the Flames and in Vancouver. The Vancouver Canucks, who lead the Pacific by seven points at the break, made a trade Wednesday night with the Calgary Flames. VGK's top draft pick Trevor Connelly missed this week's World Junior Summer Showcase with an unknown injury. Connelly, according to FloHockey's Chris Peters, reportedly suffered an injury while training for the NHL Combine. Connelly was also shut down after the first VGK Development Camp scrimmage after reportedly suffering an injury, which has also kept him out of the Summer Showcase, which is an evaluation for the 2025 World Juniors. We also talk about whether VGK will try to go after CBJ's Patrik Laine, who was just released from the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. Tomas Hertl didn't make the trip with the Golden Knights as they embarked on a three-game road swing. Kelly McCrimmon said Monday that Hertl will be evaluated again on Tuesday and would be missing the trip after he was boarded hard into the wall in Sunday's win over Tampa Bay. On a brighter note, Shea Theodore is expected to be in the lineup this week after suffering a broken hand in the 4 Nations faceoff. VGK plays at Minnesota a team that was shutout at Dallas Monday night 3-0. The Wild play VGK on the tail end of a back to back. The Golden Knights also play at Chicago and Nashville on this trip. Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy said he's looking for a physical game against the Florida Panthers Thursday night. He also told the media Thursday, that his team will be short another player, as William Karlsson will miss the next two games with a lower body injury. Cassidy said we will see Mark Stone with Chandler Stephenson and Jonathan Marchessault will be on the line with Jack Eichel among the lineup changes. Cassidy said his team and Florida play better "when the temperature goes up." The Panthers last played on the T-Mobile Arena ice when they lost to VGK in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup. The Golden Knights now have home ice advantage in their opening round series vs the Dallas Stars by virtue of Monday's 4-3 win on the road. VGK won with netfront presence and by scoring twice on the power play. The debut performance by Mark Stone and Tomas Hertl on the same line was a successful one. Stone returned to the ice for the first time since Feb 20 and he not only scored a goal at 1:23 into the game, but it was his only shot of the contest. He scored his goal with Hertl in front of the net. Hertl also scored a goal after he won his faceoff and dove to the net to pot his first VGK playoff goal. A third goal was scored by Brayden McNabb with Ivan Barbeshev setting up shop in front of Jake Ottinger. Dallas fans booed Stone every time he touched the puck and even booed him during an intermission television interview. Stone logged 17:09 of ice time in his first game back. We graded Logan Thompson's performance and discussed if he will be in net in Wednesday's Game 2.

The Golden Knights got back on track by beating the New York Islanders Tuesday night in the tail end of the back-to-back. The game marked the return of Adin Hill, who made his first start in over two months. Hill stopped 40 of 42 shots on goal. Nic Roy scored the game winner for the VGK, who never trailed in the contest. Sheldon Rampal also scored his first NHL goal, as Bruce Cassidy sat Brendan Brisson. Rampal had a sharp angle goal that went off the far post and into the net. Up next: VGK plays at the Rangers at MSG Friday, before Saturday's trip to Detroit before the All-Star Break.

We evaluate the three trades made at deadline: Tomas Hertl, Noah Hanifin and Anthony Mantha on today's show. We talk about their impact after the deadline, where they might land in the lineup and what their future is with the VGK.

Bruce Cassidy and the Golden Knights know there is a lot of work to be done over the next week in preparation for opening night against the Avs on October 9. VGK has three exhibition games remaining, including two vs. Colorado. Cassidy feels he wants to see his veterans play in at least two of those games. Tuesday night VGK will travel to Denver, and it doesn't appear that many of the veterans will be on hand. We also discuss the absence of William Karlsson, who is still out with an unknown injury. Cassidy said he hopes to have Karlsson back on the ice Friday. And AHL Henderson opened its preseason camp on Monday. We talk about the roster for HSK.

Alex Ovechkin scored a hat trick and former VGK goalie Logan Thompson turned back 40 shots in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Washington Capitals. VGK's goals came off the sticks of Brett Howden and Keegan Kolesar. Thompson had a long tribute that made him emotional, as he faced his former team for the first time at T-Mobile Arena. We also talked about what the VGK goalie rotation might be on the upcoming road trip. And we discuss the recent Brayden McNabb contract extension.

Team USA will have a rematch against Team Canada Thursday this time for the 4 Nations Championship in Boston. Canada held on for a 5-3 win after leading Finland 4-0 Monday to clinch a spot in the Final vs USA. Team USA lost a meaningless game, meanwhile 2-1 to Sweden. Team USA was shorthanded with an 11/6 structure to start the game. Brady Tkachuk skated into the goal post and played only two minutes. He came back after the injury but played only one shift, before departing again. Austin Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk and Charlie McEvoy were out for Team USA. We also talk about VGK returning to the ice on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday's game against Vancouver on home ice.

Bruce Cassidy on the Sick Podcast said new VGK acquisition Victor Olofsson will begin the season alongside a player he is familiar with - Jack Eichel. Olofsson and Eichel played together in Buffalo and Cassidy said Olofsson will compliment his former teammate on the top line to start the season at least. After defeating the Vancouver Canucks on the road last night, 4-1, the Golden Knights now focus on their first round opponent Minnesota. VGK's Jack Eichel and Alex Pietrangelo returned in Vancouver. But Bruce Cassidy rested Stone, Hertl, Barbeshev, Hanifin, Saad, Whitecloud and Adin Hill. Eichel scored a goal and winds up the regular season with 94 points. We also discuss comments made in the Seattle media by former Golden Knight Chandler Stephenson, and we have a glance at the playoff brackets.

The Golden Knights will face an elimination game on Friday after losing 3-2 in Dallas to the Stars Wednesday night. VGK's Alex Pietrangelo committed a retaliatory penalty by hitting Tyler Seguin of the Stars with a backhanded punch. The penalty proved to be costly as Jason Robertson scored the game winning goal with Pietrangelo looking on from the penalty box. It was the second time in two games that Pietrangelo committed a penalty that led to the game winning goal. He lost his composure. Dallas played keepaway again after that score in the third period to win its 40th game after leading at the second intermission. The Dallas power play was 2-for-4. The Golden Knights Bruce Cassidy made several line changes and inserted Pavel Dorofeyev and Ben Hutton into the lineup, while sitting ineffective Keegan Kolesar and Zach Whitecloud. We talk about what changes we can foresee in the upcoming elimination game. And, we discuss what a loss in Game 6 will mean for VGK.

The Golden Knights will try to break a two-game losing streak tonight in Columbus, as well as avenge an earlier one-goal loss in Las Vegas to the Blue Jackets. VGK's Alex Pietrangelo had a turnover leading to Cole Sillinger's winning goal. The VGK had two goals erased in that game - one by Barbeshev, the other by Eichel. VGK will face a difficult 1-1-3 defense again, the scoring could be low. We talk about losing goalie confidence and have our locks and predictions for the contest.

The Carolina Hurricanes dominated the Golden Knights Monday night at the Fortress 5-2 to break VGK's 8-game, season-opening win streak on home ice. VGK trailed 2-0 out of the chute at the end of the first period. The Golden Knights gave up two more goals in the 2nd period. And, that was enough for Bruce Cassidy to pull starting goaltender Adin Hill for newcomer Akira Schmid. Hil gave up 4 goals on 21 shots. But it wasn't his fault, as the VGK defense was pourous in front of him. Following the Golden Knights loss, they hit the road and will play in Anaheim and Utah next. VGK had goals scored by Jack Eichel and a late power play goal by Ivan Barbashev. We update VGK's injury situation. And we discuss whether the Golden Knights have a hard time beating good teams.

VGK opened up a five point lead in the Pacific Division, after the L.A. Kings were upset at home 2-1 by Seattle. The Golden Knights can now gain home ice advantage with one point in Colorado tonight. The Golden Knights skate against the Avs, the third place team in the Central Division. VGK has won two straight games in Calgary and Vancouver. They are hoping to get Jack Eichel, who is on a four game streak without an points. He has 93 points currently and is hoping to hit the 100 point plateau. The Golden Knights dropped their fourth straight home game Thursday night, falling to the Toronto Maple Leafs, 7-3. We used the old Bill James (Baseball Abstract) method of determining strength up the middle. In baseball it is believe that you must have a strong catcher, 2nd baseman, shortstop and centerfielder to compete. We took that model and applied it to VGK's centermen - Eichel, Hertl, Karlsson and Roy. It is a very strong center position. We recap the weekend games before VGK went into the ASG break. The Golden Knights played a back-to-back and split games against the Rangers (win) and Red Wings (loss) before they headed into the 10 day break. VGK lost in Detroit 5-2 and won in NYC 5-2. The Golden Knights went into the All-Star break last year losing four straight games. They went 5-2 down the stretch nd the loss in the Red Wings game was their first in regulation in 8 games vs the NHL Eastern Conference teams. Jonathan Marchessault scored a hat trick on Friday night at MSG. He had eight goals and six assists over a six game span. Adin Hill is 2-0 in his starts since returning from injury, which is encouraging for VGK. The Golden Knights, Sunday, activated William Karlsson off LTIR, so the center will return after the break. Four players were sent back down to AHL Henderson.

VGK's Bruce Cassidy has been named as an assistant coach for Team Canada for the 2025 Four-Nations Face-off.
