The 50th Podcast Special - I Asked Different People This One Question.
Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi! Today I have a very VERY special podcast. One year of Let's Talk Health with Mairi! Fifty episodes! I can't believe it. I wanted to do something special for this podcast. It means a lot to me that I have reached a year and that it has grown exponentially since the start.
Every single one of you who has listened to the podcast is special to me and that is why I wanted to include some of you in this special podcast.
The meaning of health is different for everyone, and I wanted to showcase the beauty of that today. I want you to remember that being "healthy" is by your definition. There is no clinical definition of health and there is a reason for that - health is what you make it, health is how you feel it. I hope you can see that today, from the many people kind enough to share their personal meaning of health.
No matter how many scientific studies there are it will never invalidate your personal opinion of what healthy means to you. I encourage you to find your very own meaning of health and prioritize that forever. Use this podcast for a starting point or refinement of your definition.
I hope you loved this podcast as much as I enjoyed making and listening to it.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the podcast - your contribution means everything.
Special thanks to my brother, Jonathan, for helping me edit!
Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi. In this week's episode, we are focusing on increasing food in your diet instead of limiting food to promote wellbeing.
We are told constantly to reduce salt, sugar, and saturated fat and limit/avoid these foods. The human body and mind do not thrive under deprivation and usually, this technique doesn't work for promoting health. I want to encourage you to increase different foods in your diet, before considering taking them away.
What if I told you that food, particularly the foods mentioned in this episode, can help prevent premature death from chronic diseases? What if I presented to you a drug that can prevent the incidence of cardiovascular disease - the leading global killer?
Turns out there are foods that do just that, with only positive side effects. Listen to this podcast to find out what foods have such potent health benefits.
Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi! This week's podcast is an interesting one. I researched the healthiest oils to eat, both in cooking and eaten raw, so you don't have to.
Certain oils are incredibly toxic for your health and are common household staples! Listen to this week's podcast to find out what oils are harming your health, what oils are good for you, why these oils are helping/hindering your health, and what to use instead!
This topic is not talked about enough and it's a simple, easy switch. Listen to hear more!
Like, share, and comment, it helps me out so much!

Sun Exposure: Is It Really That Bad For Our Skin and Health?
Hello everyone and welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi! What a beautiful week it has been here in sunny Scotland. I hope wherever you are, it's beautiful too.
This week the sun inspired me. Sun exposure is vital for health, yet, it is detrimental and causes skin cancer. This doesn't quite add up. For this episode, I took a dive into the literature and discussed, Is the sun really good for us or should we avoid it as much as possible?
In this episode:
Why the sun is good for our health. How overexposure can cause complications. Your skin type and how much sun you need/can tolerate. Sunscreen: Good or bad for us? How to reap the benefits of sun without the health complications.
Hello everyone. Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi! I hope you all have had a wonderful week.
The past three episodes have been all about the science (which I love) but I wanted to catch up with you all this week and have a chat. In this short episode I talk about something very new to me - going without makeup - cold turkey!
I feel that it is a societal expectation to wear makeup, and to be honest, I don't think I would wear makeup if this wasn't the case. I want to challenge this idea within myself and see where it takes me. I want to feel empowered and beautiful in my own skin in all occasions.
Follow along for the journey - I will be sharing updates!
I hope you love this podcast. If so, get in touch:
Hello everyone. Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi. I hope you are all doing well.

In this podcast episode:
Health complications of alcohol. Health benefits of alcohol. How much is too much, if any? Alcohol and addiction. Is all alcohol the same? Moderate drinking, social drinking, binge drinking?
This was an interesting episode to record. I hope you enjoy this episode.
Thanks for listening everyone. Please share, comment and like this podcast, it helps so much!
Hello everyone. Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi. This week's episode is all about smart watches. Are they useful or problematic for our physical and mental wellbeing?
In this podcast:
What are smart watches? What do they tell us? Are these health statistics useful to know? Are smart watches accurate? The complicated issue of calories. Is knowing and seeing our calorie expenditure every day perpetuating disordered eating?
Do you have a smart watch? What are your opinions on smart watches?
Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi! How are you all this week? This is a chatty podcast all about surrender.

This is a nice listen and will hopefully make you feel inspired and hopeful about your life. I hope we can all surrender to the proccess of life and experience magical things. Listen to this episode to understand how you can apply this to your life today!
Hello everyone. Welcome back to Let's Talk Health with Mairi! Today's podcast is an interesting one: the Government VS Kellogg's in a court battle on new legislation for high-sugar cereals.
The government aims to tackle childhood obesity by 2030, and this legislation is one of the ways it hopes to achieve this. Kellogg's behaviour is astonishing and is a blatant act against one of the main societal issues such as obesity. Listen to this episode to hear more.

In the westernised world we could learn a lot from Japanese culture as well as some other countries such as Italy. Specific areas in Japan and Italy are classified as blue zones, where an abundance of people live to 100+ year old.
I recorded a podcast on why these areas are linked to living a longer, healthier life. It's a good one! Check out that podcast here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3NJfXMRWXRHHvYpf7twW18?si=efdeb44e89604f4e
