03 May 2022 | 116: Does Your Branding Match Your Brand? with Lena Gosik-Wolfe | 00:26:42
What does your branding say about you?
Your brand is bigger than branding. It’s so common for us to not see the flaws in what we have currently because we are so close to our businesses. This can make it hard to see from someone else’s shoes, but you have to look at the bigger picture.
Your brand is your unique story, but your branding is for your audience. In this episode of Leading Lady, I sat down with one of my Leading Lady ambassadors, Lena Gosik-Wolfe to talk about how you can create a brand that stands out and connects you with your audience.
Lena of Lena Designs Studio is a dynamic designer and dot-connecting visionary who is able to bring high-level artistic strategy to brand design. As a brand strategist, she’s helping female-owned online businesses all over the world make more money by crafting a unique, beautiful, purposeful design that elevates them beyond a business and into a true brand.
When she’s not serving her clients, you can find her spending time with her husband & rescue animals, or tending her succulent garden.
When people see the passion and love for your business, it actually inspires them to work with you! You don’t need to hide behind the computer or a brand that doesn’t suit you. Your branding should represent you and your business in a way that makes you proud to show it off.
Tune in today to learn more from Lena about how the perfect branding can impact your business!

06 Jul 2021 | 73: How to Build Confidence and Prioritize Your Self-Care By Starting a Side Hustle with Kelsey Holden | 00:21:17
Do you have a side-hustle? A lot of women that I have talked to have day jobs and a side-hustle! There are so many different reasons why, and my guest today is talking to us about hers. In today’s episode, I am joined by one of my (and my dog’s) favorite brand owners, Kelsey Holden to talk about how her day job pays the bills, but her side-hustle fulfills her creative passions. A devout lover of all puns, Kelsey Holden is the owner and embroidery artisan of Good Dog Designs, a machine embroidery company based in her home studio of Baltimore, MD. During the day, Kelsey works in event marketing for a digital health startup company. We are talking about all of the different ways that we can fill our buckets, why our careers don’t have to be the be-all and end-all, how leaning into creativity can be an outlet for grief, and more! This episode is a great reminder that your career does not have to be the only thing that you do especially if it doesn’t bring you joy and fulfillment. We are all multi-faceted and can do so much! Listen in to hear advice from Kelsey on this and the motivation you might need to start your own side-hustle! 13 Jul 2021 | 74: How to Use Skincare and Makeup to Celebrate Your Features with Samia Freeman | 00:20:50
I don't believe that makeup is meant to hide our faces. It's meant to enhance the features we already have. Don’t you agree?
Some people might have the understanding that makeup is used to hide features, but I don’t look at it that way! My guest, Samia Freeman, doesn’t either!
Samia Freeman is a makeup artist, skincare consultant, and beauty educator who is passionate about empowering women through their own inner beauty. She educates women on product knowledge as well as skincare and makeup application so they can feel confident incorporating the techniques into their everyday routine. Her approach is always client-focused, engaging her clients throughout the process as they prepare for their special events, so they feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.
Samia and I explore the idea that beauty is so much more than makeup. We cover the importance of taking care of our skin, where to start if you don’t have a skincare routine, the effect of chemicals in skincare and so much more.
If you are interested in skincare, makeup, and enhancing your natural beauty from the inside out, you will absolutely love this episode.

27 Sep 2022 | 132: How to Keep Your Business Running Even When You Aren’t There | 00:14:46
Do you have systems in place in your business? Life happens sometimes, and as business owners it can be difficult to maintain normal business operations when things come up. In this episode of Leading Lady, I’m sharing why we need to have systems and processes, especially when we’re down. If you have been following me, you probably know that July and August were very busy for me and I really needed to step away and take a pause from all things business related. Having said that, it doesn't mean that my business stopped. As high-achieving women, entrepreneurs, business owners, and leaders of organizations, we know that we can’t just bring everything to a screeching halt. Things have to keep moving, even without us. Because of my systems and processes, I was able to take a step back when I needed to. My team knew what to do, even without me there. Things continued to run and I was able to get the rest I needed to keep operating at my best. Tune in to learn more about the systems and processes you need to have in place so that you can take the time off when you need it without slowing down your business progress.

09 Aug 2022 | 127: Self-Care Isn’t Selfish, It’s An Act of Bravery | 00:14:31
Do you practice self-care? We hear all the time that self-care is so important. We are always encouraged to practice it with meditation, bubble baths, and walks. But the world and all of our expectations, responsibilities, and commitments can make any form of real self-care feel impossible. We have families and businesses and friends, and it’s easy to prioritize ourselves last. In this episode of The Leading Lady Podcast, I’m sharing why self-care is actually an act of bravery and why you need to start making yourself a priority in your life for your own well-being. As high-achieving women, it’s scary to take a step back when we need it because we don’t want to let anyone down. That means that you have to say no and back out of commitments when you over-committed yourself, and it takes courage to admit to others that you need to prioritize your mental health. In a world where we are idolized for stretching ourselves too thin, being a part of hustle culture, and being seen as a woman that can do all the things, it is so easy for self-care to just fall off our radar. You can’t light yourself on fire to keep others warm. Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s a necessity. Tune in to hear more about why practicing self-care is an act of bravery and how to start making it a priority.

14 May 2024 | 210: Simple Choices Make a Big Difference: How To Become More Eco-Friendly with Crystal DiMiceli: Fan Favorite Replay | 00:15:40
You don’t have to upend your life to make animal and environmentally-friendly choices.
Topics like climate change and deforestation can be really overwhelming to think about. After all, how much of a difference can one person really make? The truth is, we need everyone’s effort. Taking steps to be more environmentally friendly will make an impact. Every small action adds up to big changes.
In this episode of the Leading Lady podcast, Crystal DiMiceli joined me to talk about how we can make a difference in our environment even with the tiniest of changes.
Crystal was that little girl who loved animals and brought home strays whenever her parents would allow it (that may still be her M.O.!). She was that teenager who watched a show about pollution and vowed to stop it when she grew up. But, she’s also that woman that loves to travel to far-off places on fossil fuel-guzzling airplanes while wearing leather shoes.
She may not be the perfect example of how to do eco- and animal-friendly 100% “right”, but she makes every effort possible. She does her research, makes conscious choices, and listens to both sides of the aisle. She wants to bring attention to the good things that are happening so that we can elevate and scale up these acts so that they, ideally, become the norm. She understands that nothing is black and white, there are many shades of grey. Although, she prefers to say many shades of green.
You don’t have to be perfect to be environmentally conscious. It all starts with one small change. We are so much more powerful than you may think, especially together. Make sure to tune in to learn how you can start making more environmentally conscious decisions in your life today.

05 Jan 2021 | 47: Tips for Supporting Your Aging Loved One With Dementia with Winsome Brown | 00:27:30
From a young age, we are told to do well in school, go to college, get married, buy a home, start a family, and so on, but we often forget that as we get older, our parents do too. It is inevitable, and it is something that we don’t often think about or plan for. A lot of us are in an in-between stage of life where we are raising our children while we are caring for our aging parents, so we often look to caregivers to ease some of the challenges and overwhelm. In this episode, I am chatting with Winsome Brown about senior care - specifically for those with dementia. Winsome Brown is the co-founder of Lean On Dee Senior Care Advocates. She is a certified dementia life coach, a certified senior advisor and holds certifications from The University of Michigan Advanced Clinical Dementia Practice. Winsome was called to serve when she struggled to find suitable care for her mother when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. This realization helped her create Lean On Dee’s dementia check-in service, an at-home cognitive stimulation program that promotes and helps to maintain cognitive abilities in adults living with dementia. The most important takeaway from this episode with Winsome is to remain patient, become educated and make a plan for your loved one. These things will help you find the peace of mind you need knowing that they are happy, safe and well cared for. 18 Oct 2022 | 135: How To Stop Food Policing Thoughts and Make Better Health Decisions: A Podcast Takeover with Elizabeth Harris | 00:15:14
Have you ever felt guilty for eating something that you thought you shouldn’t? Or do you ever think things like, “I can’t have sweets, they’re bad for me,” or, “I shouldn’t have carbs because they’ll make me gain weight?” In intuitive eating, we call these the food police. They’re essentially these thoughts that we all have swirling in our heads about what we’re supposed to eat. It’s like our own inner judge and jury that tell us whether the food we are eating is good or bad. Have you ever wondered where exactly they came from? The truth is that a vast majority of the time, they come from diet culture and they are not helping us! They come straight from weight loss companies that are selling diets or meal plans or other people trying to make money off of us. In this episode of Leading Lady, we are doing another podcast takeover with Leading Lady Ambassador Elizabeth Harris! She’s a registered dietitian and intuitive eating counselor with a virtual nutrition practice. She empowers women to find peaceful solutions to food and nutrition without dieting or stressing about the scale with intuitive eating and body image healing. Elizabeth is diving into the topic of food police and “shoulding” all over your food choices. We are human and there is so much more to our health and well-being than the food we eat or how much we exercise. Tune in to learn more about shutting out the food police and developing healthier habits around food and exercise.

15 Nov 2022 | 139: How to Know if a Financial Planner is Right For You with Bridget Borel | 00:23:57
Having an understanding of finances is such an important skill and tool that women need to truly be leaders in their lives. We all have blind spots, but working with a financial planner could help us avoid financial issues that we might not even know existed. In this episode of Leading Lady, I sat down with Bridget Borel to talk more about finances and how women can start living and spending in accordance with their values and find financial wellness. Bridget always says that money isn’t math, and math isn’t money. Financial decisions come in the context of our lives – events and relationships that shape who we are and how we live. She is driven to connect her clients with the resources they need to meet their goals and dreams. Her greatest joy is working with women of leadership, ambition, and mission. That could mean a retired public servant, an entrepreneurial scientist balancing the needs of her business and her family, or a Gold Star widow running a non-profit to help other grieving families. These women have a purpose, and she is privileged to help them live out that purpose. She came to the financial industry through work in insurance as well as research for a wealth management firm. As a fee-only financial planner, she’s in the best position she can be to help clients solve their own financial puzzles. She holds a BS from Tulane University and lives in Annapolis with her three children. Her free time is filled with CrossFit, stand-up paddle boarding, cooking, and live music. 19 May 2020 | 14: 3 Questions To Ask Yourself Daily To Feel Focused and In Control Of Your Time | 00:14:27
In today’s episode, I am going to walk you through the 3 questions you should ask yourself daily if you want to feel focused and in control of your time. I love waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee in silence before the rest of my house gets up for the day. This quiet time allows me to sit with myself and think about my core values. I think about my priorities, plan out my day, and get in the right frame of mind so I can move throughout my day with purpose and intention. I developed these questions for myself and now use them as one of the first exercises I do with my coaching clients. These questions lead them to feel more focused and in control of their time. For many people, including myself, to-do lists can often feel daunting and heavy. I have actually gotten away from using a to-do list and now spend my energy on my top priorities that will move my business and life forward.

We have families and businesses and friends, and it’s easy to prioritize ourselves last!

07 Feb 2023 | 151: Behind the Scenes of My VIP Strategy Days (with Liz Murphy) | 00:28:09
When you’re planning in your business, do you try to tune everything else out, or do you let all the other areas of your life inform what you want for your business?
In this episode, my dear friend and fellow ambassador Liz Murphy is taking over and we’re switching seats. She’s here to interview me and pick my brain about my VIP Strategy Day and what really goes into strategically planning a business.
The main question that I’m answering is: why do we need to look at every area of our lives in order to effectively strategically plan our businesses? I believe that you need to be looking at and talking about yourself as a woman, human, wife, friend, and all the other titles that are important to you before you can show up as your best self as a business owner. Why is that?
You’ll have to tune in to the episode to find out!

30 May 2023 | 167: Take The Lead: Chapter 4 | 00:43:06
If you listen to the show, you probably know that I have always preferred paid advertising. The entire time I have been in business, organic marketing has not been a strength or focus of mine.
That being said, I did something that made me uncomfortable. I challenged myself to post 30 Reels for 30 days to see what would happen when I actually tried out some organic marketing for my business.
I went into it wanting to prove myself wrong about organic marketing and show myself that it was worth the effort. And so in this episode of Your Million Dollar Side Hustle, I’m sharing the exact results of that challenge and what it means for my business going forward.
In this episode, we discuss:
I hope you enjoyed my honest thoughts on this experiment! In the end, it solidified why I prefer paid ads so much more than organic marketing.

19 Apr 2022 | 114: THINK: What This Acronym Means & Why You Should Be Using It Daily | 00:15:21
How do you show up in the world?
I have worked in the education realm for over 20 years and something that we teachers absolutely love is acronyms! We have one for everything.
In this episode of Leading Lady, I am sharing with you one of my favorite acronyms ever because it has helped me so much, and I really think it will help you too. I have used it daily for the last several years, and it has made a true difference in my life.
The acronym is THINK. With this acronym, I want you to think about how you show up in the world. How do you show up as a leader, as a business owner, as a woman, or as a mother?
As high-achieving women, we have to use our voices in our leadership roles. Whether it’s leading our family, our business, a boardroom, or just ourselves, use the THINK acronym and ask yourself if the things you’re saying are aligned with how you want to show up.
Tune in to hear what this acronym stands for, how it has helped me, ways to apply it to all aspects of your life, and how it can help you become the type of woman or leader that you have always wanted to be.

07 Jun 2022 | 119: How to Cultivate Healthy Relationships with Yourself and with Others with Samantha Heuwagen: A Fan Favorite Replay | 00:32:40
Today's episode was such a fan favorite, I decided to bring it back because it was that good! Enjoy---
The answer is simple: you can’t!
We have to have really solid foundations with ourselves in order to be able to articulate what our needs are with another person.
My guest in this episode, Samantha Heuwagen, is here to talk to us all about this and how to cultivate healthy relationships with ourselves and with others.
Samantha Heuwagen is a Latinx marriage and family therapist and best-selling author in the Metro Atlanta area. When not working with clients, she sparks discussion about mental health with the goal to spread awareness across the United States and beyond by challenging the popular discourse surrounding mental illness and making it more inclusive.
We get into what the foundation of a healthy relationship consists of, why you need to love yourself first, how to define what your goals are for yourself and your relationships, what it means to be authentic in a relationship, and so much more.
This was such an honest and empowering conversation and I got so much amazing feedback the first time this episode was aired, I knew I had to bring it back for another listen!

22 Mar 2022 | 110: Take the Lead: The Journey to Writing and Publishing My First Book | 00:14:31
My book, Take The Lead, is now available for purchase!
In this episode of Leading Lady, I am sharing how my book came to be. This project is something I have been working on for quite some time now. To be honest, it is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do but also the most rewarding.
I remember the day I decided that I wanted to start a book. It was years ago and after a long journey, it is so exciting to finally be here now.
Writing a book about your life and experiences can be a little scary. As I started to put my stories onto paper, I learned that it is a lot more complex than I had even imagined. I knew I had a book inside of me, but it took a lot of effort to put it all together.
I teamed up with my dear friend, Hannah, who is very well versed in the process of creating a book, and she was a huge help to me with making this happen. Thanks to her expertise, I was able to turn it into something that I am truly proud of.
I hope that you are able to get a copy and see that I poured my heart and soul into writing this book. It is raw, vulnerable, and honestly, very cathartic. It deepened my own understanding of myself and why I do what I do.
Make sure to tune in to this episode to learn more about how this book came to be, how this led to us starting Lofthouse Publishing, what you can expect from my book and more.

When you first start your business, it’s so exciting! You have so much passion for your work, so the beginning phase is just magical, isn’t it?
Sometimes, though, we end up in denial about how much work has to be done. With any business, there are going to be things that just aren’t fun and that you don’t love to do.
Getting the not-so-fun things done at the start will make your work easier because you will have the structure, discipline, and procedures in place that will keep everything running smoothly.
By doing the hard work now, you can do the smart work going forward in your business. In this episode of Leading Lady, I’m sharing my top tips for working smarter so that you can grow and scale your business without working harder.
It’s hard to implement a work-life balance once your business is up and running, but by creating boundaries for how you’re going to work and how you’re going to structure your business in a way that works for your life and then honoring that, you are setting yourself up for success down the road as your business grows.

29 Dec 2020 | 46: How Exercise Can Empower You with Tara De Leon | 00:29:56
Prioritizing exercise isn’t easy especially when it is viewed as a punishment rather than a celebration. Do you agree? Sometimes we forget about all of the things that our bodies are capable of because we are so caught up in a meal that we ate, fitting into a certain size, or wishing we had a toned stomach. One thing I have learned over the years is that this mindset does not allow anyone to see their body for what it is - powerful, beautiful and worth celebrating. Whether you enjoy 20-minute walks or lifting heavy weights, moving your body should always be empowering. In this episode, I am chatting with my personal trainer Tara De Leon about the importance of exercise - no matter how you choose to move your body. Tara De Leon has over 18 years of experience in the fitness industry. She has done everything from teaching water aerobics to personal training to even being a collegiate strength coach. As the Personal Training Coordinator at Edgewater Fitness, Tara helps women be confident and badass by teaching them to lift heavy weights. Outside of the gym, Tara loves to spend time with her husband Marcus, adorable newborn baby boy, Maverick, and Aussie pup, Chula. The most important lesson in today’s episode with Tara is to find what works for you and give yourself grace. If you are moving your body at all, that is a total win and should make you feel like the powerful woman that you are! 23 Mar 2021 | 58: How Youth Sports for Girls Develops Leadership with Stacie Oliver | 00:21:47
We are all familiar with the benefits of staying active, but have you ever thought about how important it is for younger children (especially girls) to get involved in youth sports?
They give girls the opportunity to develop all of the skills and traits that women need to thrive!
In this episode, I am talking with a dear friend of mine, Stacie Oliver. We are talking all about how girls are able to develop skills like confidence, leadership and teamwork through youth sports.
Stacie Oliver is a national security professional, a mother of two, a serial volunteer, and an ardent promoter of youth participation in sports. She started her own athletic journey at a very young age and now serves as a board member with a large youth recreational sports organization, coaches multiple field hockey teams, offers training services to active runners, plays on an adult field hockey team, and carts her own kids around to sports activities many days of the week. Stacie strongly believes that participation in sports, especially at any early age, enhances a child's confidence, builds leadership skills and community, and supports a healthy lifestyle.
This conversation is such a good reminder to encourage the young girls in our life to get active. It is also a good reminder for us as women that it is never too late to move our bodies or join a team!

15 Mar 2022 | 109: How to Shift Your Focus From Weight to Wellbeing with Elizabeth Harris | 00:23:29
Have you ever felt discouraged by dieting?
Many of us have been there. We are unhappy with the number on the scale so we start restricting and dieting in hopes that we will reach that magical number that will make us feel happy and worthy.
Diets detract from our health and wellbeing in a different way. Instead of being fully present and in the moment with our loved ones, we are in our heads worrying about our diet. There’s a lot of negativity and guilt that comes with that and it makes it hard to just enjoy your life.
In todays’ episode of Leading Lady, I sat down with Elizabeth Harris to talk more about the harmful aspects of dieting and the impact of intuitive eating.
Elizabeth Harris is a dietitian and Intuitive Eating counselor. She’s passionate about empowering women to find food and body peace with Intuitive Eating and body image healing.
By shifting the focus weight to wellbeing, Elizabeth helps women stop dieting and start living. Her motto is “self-care, not self-control.” Because food is meant to be enjoyed, movement should make you happy, and we’ve all got better things to do than count carbs!
Elizabeth holds a Master’s degree in nutrition from the University of Southern California. She loves to hike, garden, read, and travel the world—hitting every farmers’ market along the way.
Don’t accept the premise that weight equals health! That is all diet culture trying to tell you that you need to be a certain way but that’s not what’s important.
We all have difficult body image days, it's totally normal. It’s what you do with those days that’s important. Make sure to tune in to this episode to learn more about why dieting doesn’t work, why focusing on intuitive eating is biologically and psychologically healthier, the benefits of being weight-neutral, and so much more.

25 Jan 2022 | 102: The Key to Entrepreneurial Success as Women: Business Besties | 00:14:18
Do you have a business bestie?
A business bestie is someone you connect with professionally and you become each other's go-to person when it comes to business development and cheering each other on. You turn to each other for promoting, sharing, advice, and all things business.
If there’s anything I learned from my favorite movies and songs growing up, it’s that women need best friends. We can all be very different but brilliant in our own ways, and when we come together, we can be an unstoppable force. As the old saying goes, having just one friend who is there for you no matter what is all you really need.
Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey. There are so many highs and lows and it can be challenging when you are trying to power through it all alone. A business bestie can encourage you to chase dreams, share woes, celebrate wins, and be authentically you.
I am a firm believer that empowered women empower women and forming these friendships can benefit you both in so many ways. In this episode of Leading Lady, I am diving deep into the topic of business friendships and how you can be the best business bestie.
Tune in to learn more about the importance of finding your person and how to show up for each other in an authentic and supportive way.

30 Aug 2022 | 128: Why It's OK to Pause | 00:15:40
Have you been feeling the need to rest and recharge? If you are a long-time listener, you’ve probably noticed that over the last several weeks, I have had several replay episodes airing on the podcast with a few new episodes sprinkled in here and there. After taking a minute to pause and recharge, I am back now and energized to bring you all some new stuff. To be honest, this summer was a little hectic. I had kids going through major transitions to things like high school and college and it really took up a lot of emotional and mental bandwidth. So I had to give myself a little space and grace during that time and get some much-needed self-care so that I could come back as my best self. In this week’s episode of Leading Lady, I’m diving into the topic of self-care and pausing when you need to. It’s brave to take a step back to rest and recharge when you need to, and more people need to make it a priority. You have to take care of yourself. Suppressing your feelings, faking it until you make it, or engaging in toxic positivity when you just aren’t feeling it just isn’t good for you. When you put forth the effort and acknowledge and validate your needs, you will see a difference in your life. Sometimes you need to just address the ache in your heart, and give yourself time to recover so that when you do come back, you're coming back as your best self. Tune in to learn how to do it.

01 Feb 2022 | 103: How to Show Up Consistently and Authentically in Your Business | 00:16:58
Let’s talk about consistency!
In business, it is so important that you show up consistently. This is one of the most important factors of success, but how do you choose what platform to be consistent on? There are many to choose from, but you don’t have to be on them all if that doesn't feel right to you.
For me, it’s all about the platform that I feel most comfortable on. This is important for me to feel like my most authentic self. It’s easy to get lost in all of the latest social media trends and feel overwhelmed with trying to keep up with it all.
The truth is, if you try to show up on all of these platforms that you don’t normally spend your time on, it’s just not going to feel good to you, and it’s hard to stay consistent with something that doesn’t feel good.
If dancing in Reels or on TikTok doesn’t feel right, then don’t! There are no rules for what you do and don’t have to do to be successful in your business. You are in charge of your business choices.
Tune in to this episode of Leading Lady to hear more about how to find the right platform for your business, how to show up consistently, tips for choosing topics to share, and how to nurture your relationship with your audience.
This episode is packed with tips, you don’t want to miss it!
