Don't you love that feeling you get when you hear a really inspirational speaker or learn some mind-blowing concept or embody an "I can do anything!" vibe?! Some people take that inspiration and activate the new learnings in their leadership / life. Some go back to their day-to-day... no loss / no gain. And some actually quickly go from inspired to defeated. The exact opposite direction of where they started. No judgement - it's a natural reaction to the way our brain works. But you don't have to settle for it. Let's start with awareness and we'll go from there. This will lead to the incredible action you were looking for in the first place. Note: This episode is a replay. It was originally recorded and published in May of 2022 under the podcast name of "The Practically Perfect Leader" as episode #19. One of my very favorite characters is Mary Poppins. This episode explores the timeless lessons that can be applied to leadership and life! Drawing from both the 1964 original film and the 2018 sequel, it highlights themes such as shifting perspectives, incorporating kindness and fun, trusting intuition, and leading with self-awareness. Through memorable quotes and stories, the episode reminds us of the power of looking beyond the surface, honoring unique stories, and focusing energy on the future. We are making tiny and not-so-tiny decisions all of the time. Some don't take much thought. But then there are those that we see as "difficult". We often make decisions from our past - where we have built up our experience and belief. But what if we made decisions from the future? What if we tapped into the version of us who has created the leadership and the life we most want? Let's talk about it. Enjoy! 01 Aug 2022 | EP29: Leading Through Change [Part One] - Change vs. Transition | 00:29:13
We all know that change is constant. We sure have all endured our fair share over the last several years! It is critical that leaders know how to effectively lead both themselves and their teams through change. 19 Dec 2022 | EP49: Making Decisions Ahead of Time | 00:20:12
Making decisions on behalf of your team, your organization and your business is a necessary and important skillset...but that isn't what this episode is about. Because making decisions for YOURSELF has just as much, if not more, impact on your everyday, your future self and your desired goals/results. When we wait to take action in the moment (Do I eat the cupcake in the lunchroom? Should I have the conversation with my team member? Is now the time to ask for that raise?) - our "monkey brain" kicks in. In an effort to protect us from pain or disappointment and bring us immediate joy or comfort - it will tell us to eat the cupcake (one won't hurt)....but don't ask for the raise (not knowing the outcome is scary)... In this episode - I talk about the why and the how to making decisions ahead of time and how to follow through. Every decision will either take you closer to or further away from your goals. Take a listen and you'll see why this matters. Thanks for joining in - I would love to hear what you think! 08 May 2023 | EP69: The ABC's of Leadership | B = Blind Spots | 00:21:08
Part of growing and evolving is having a good dose of self-awareness. It allows us to be intentional, leverage our strengths and embrace what we want to improve on. Self-awareness in itself means that we can see these areas within us. Yet we all have parts of us that we don't see - but others do. These are called blind spots. With blind spots - others are experiencing us (in 'good' and 'not-so-good' ways) in ways that we are unaware. Our job is to bring those blind spots to our consciousness...adding them into our bucket of awareness. That is where our own power lies. We'll talk all about it in this episode. Enjoy!
