24 May 2021Stop Playing Small | Ep #11900:15:30

You know that person. The one who is jealous and full of envy and has to go out of her way to minimize anyone she believes is better than her or has more than her. She’s usually insulting, rude, dismissive, and mocking. She wants you to tone down your leadership and your role. She wants you to play small and dim your light.

That is the very thing we're trying to get away from as women. We have to be willing to honor the light of every woman we meet. And we have to be willing to honor it in ourselves. Don’t back down. Don’t apologize. Don’t minimize yourself and slow down, get quiet, be soft, dim your light. Don’t!

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. How the ladies interact with one another in the How to CEO program.
  2. Kris’s daughter’s experience.
  3. Why leadership is feminine.
  4. Step back and look at how you treat the women who work for you.

18 Jul 2022How to Run Productive 1:1 Meetings with Your Team – Live Coaching with Kris | S04E0800:26:00

Do your meetings with your team end up off track? Do you avoid scheduling meetings because they’re really not productive? If so, you’re definitely not alone. In this second installment of “Live Coaching with Kris”, I tackle this prevalent problem.

As I coach a listener about how to run a productive 1:1 meeting, clarity in business rises to the surface. When you’re running a business, clarity is necessary in every area. Clarity in job descriptions, roles and responsibilities, clarity in expectations and outcomes, and clarity in the direction each team member is headed. With these in place, meetings naturally become more focused. Couple that focus with praise and positive feedback, and you’ll soon be looking forward to meetings, rather than dreading them.

Speaking of clarity, if you missed the first installment of “Live Coaching with Kris”, I encourage you to go back and listen to it. In that episode, I advise around the common question: Should I Hire a Friend? Clarity is needed in that situation as well and I hope my coaching brings you an abundance of it.

“In my life, we’ve always talked about giving positive feedback as cookies, not crumbs… when you add detail, it really shows that you paid attention.” – Kris Plachy

19 Jun 2023The Business & Life Edit | E11400:18:08

Editing and evaluating your life is super powerful. It reinforces a firm foundation when you take time out to evaluate where you’ve been and then decide if that is where you truly want to be and the pursuit you wish to continue. After all, what good is it to continue to build on top of something that isn’t what you really want and/or isn’t serving you well?

To this end, years ago I began doing the visionary business & life edit for myself. It is an intense yet refreshing and invigorating deep dive into where I’ve been and where I’m going. As the edit unfolds, it probes into those things that are being avoided or not dealt with, and even into those things that aren’t being as savored and celebrated as they should. I invite you to join me both through this podcast and, potentially, in person for your business & life edit.

01 Jan 2024Hello 2024! Start Your New Chapter with These Thoughtful Questions | E14200:24:55

In this New Year episode of Leadership is Feminine, Kris Plachy takes us on a journey of self-reflection and goal setting. With the turn of the year, Kris encourages listeners to treat this podcast as their own mini retreat, prompting them to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the year ahead.

Kris emphasizes the importance of journaling and introspection, guiding listeners through a series of thought-provoking questions to help them evaluate their experiences from the past year and envision their aspirations for the coming year. She invites her audience to consider who they've become in the previous year and how this growth influences the individual they aim to be in the new year.

The episode delves into the concept of "game film review," likening life to a series of moments and decisions that require analysis and introspection without personal judgment—more of an examination and learning experience. Kris shares her perspective on setting short-term goals or "sprints," as a strategy for increased focus and achievement. She also shares her process of setting goals and how she plans to empower female leaders in order to help them reach their goals.

I think that we need to remember that a year is not a series of perfectly achieved goals. The year is really just a series of moments, and minutes. Every minute, every moment, we have a new opportunity to choose again. And so rather than doing this the way that everybody else does it, which is, ‘These are my big things I'm going to achieve in 2024’, I want you to really think more about ‘Who am I becoming? Who, when I get to the end of the year, do I want to meet in myself?’

Key Takeaways from this Episode:

  1. New Year's Reflection: Encourages listeners to reflect on the past year and set intentions for the coming year, and emphasizes the value of a fresh start

  2. Review of 2023: Listeners are encouraged to review the past year and objectively analyze actions, decisions, setbacks, and achievements- focusing on growth rather than personal judgment.

  3. Intention Setting for 2024: A series of questions to help listeners set intentions for the new year. These questions cover thoughts and feelings about 2024, desired relationships, self-investment, personal and business growth

  4. Sprints for Goal Setting: Understanding the value of using short-term sprints in goal-setting in order to focus on what is achievable, and learn how to check-in and stay consistent

  5. Eliminating "Hangover Wants": Ensuring that listener’s goals and desires align with their current selves, and that they aren’t outdated aspirations that no longer resonate.

  6. Future Self Reflection: Connect with their future selves in order to guide present actions toward the envisioned future.

29 Jul 2019Ep #22: Thoughts for Female Entrepreneurs to Think on Purpose00:19:59

Are you having unsupervised thinking? You’re not alone. Many of those thoughts are probably negative in some way. Here’s a list of thoughts you can think instead.

What you'll find in this episode:

  1. Your business is hard because YOU THINK IT IS!
  2. Things to think instead:
    • I’m getting better at it every day.
    • Look at what I’ve built.
    • I’m in the process of figuring it out.  A la Danielle LaPorte
    • Of course it happened that way.
    • I’m totally capable.
    • I can and will ask for help.
    • I’m not alone.
    • I’m really good at failing so I can succeed.
  3. The worthiness of you is always innate. It doesn’t go away. You’ve always had it and you can never lose it.
  4. Comparing thoughts is detrimental. Other people’s wins don’t compromise yours.
  5. What would your future self tell you to do and what to think about this?
  6. Write down all the things you’re thinking that aren’t helping.

16 Sep 2024Why Are Good People So Hard to Find? | E17900:29:12

You started your business, had some success, and now you need to add people to your team. Or, maybe you’ve been at this for a while, you’ve had some turnover, and it’s starting to feel hopeless, like you’ll never be able to find people you can trust that will stick around. In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, host Kris Plachy answers the question: why are people so hard to find?

Of course it would be great if employees showed up on time, never missed a deadline, and fulfilled the expectation of their roles, but that’s not realistic. For many leaders, this can lead to a lot of drama and blame, but instead, Kris invites leaders to look within. What if we could rely on ourselves and trust that we will follow through on upholding the expectations we agreed to?

This episode explores how a lack of accountability plays a major role in frustrations between leaders and their employees, and how important it is for team members to understand what success looks like in their roles. "The difficulty in finding 'good people' often stems from leaders not being clear or consistent in their expectations and communications."

Kris shares that open dialogues between leaders and employees to align goals, resources, and timelines, empower teams for success. And she acknowledges the significance of trust, communication, and well-defined role clarity in performance resolution, highlighting these elements as fundamental to effective leadership.

Join Kris for this honest and eye-opening episode as she challenges leaders to shift their perspective on accountability and team dynamics. Discover how clarity, trust, and open communication can transform your team and empower you to find the right people who align with your vision and goals.

Key Takeaways From This Episode

  1. Clarifying Expectations: The need for leaders to facilitate clarity so employees can understand what success looks like in their roles.
  2. A Leader’s Responsibility to Hold Employees Accountable: Consequences of a lack of accountability.
  3. Trust in Leadership: Trusting oneself to manage expectations, outcomes, and managing unmet expectations.
  4. Addressing Failure and Poor Performance: Importance of open dialogue and addressing issues directly and constructively.
  5. Self-Awareness in Leadership: Trust and confidence in oneself to handle team management and difficult conversations.
  6. The Ongoing Nature of Hiring and Firing as a Part of Business: Learning and correcting from unsuccessful hires as a part of leadership.

15 Mar 2021Arguing with Team Members | Ep #10900:13:53

We all deal with the emotion of anger every now and then. There's nothing wrong with that. But we don't have to work out our anger with other people.

As leaders, sometimes we forget that we already command authority just because of our role - our title. We automatically carry the biggest stick, and arguing for us, is not a good look. It doesn't create a constructive culture, and I believe as leaders, there is no place for us to participate in that. Ever.

So, let’s talk about how not to indulge an arguer – and how not to be one ourselves.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. Much of our perspective about how to communicate comes from our family of origin.
  2. What’s considered “arguing.”
  3. What to do in that moment – instead of indulging the “arguer.”
  4. How to deal with someone on the team who is an arguer.
  5. What to do if you are the arguer.
  6. Arguing as a form of manipulation.

13 Jun 2022How to Fire Someone Nicely | S04E0300:19:57

For many leaders, hiring is scary enough but what about when you need to let someone go? As I promised, throughout Season 4 of Leadership Is Feminine, I’m tackling some of the most daunting and critical components of business mastery. And how to fire someone, and do it nicely, ranks right at the top for most leaders.

Knowing how to kindly part ways is an invaluable skill, not only for yourself but for the other person. You are able to soften an already difficult and very uncomfortable situation when you know how to address the problem. In this episode, I teach you some guidelines and share some wisdom on how to cause the least amount of injury and pain to both you and them.

“If I walked into your business today and asked people who worked for you if they knew what their goals were, if they knew what the result was that they’re responsible for, would they know? If your answer is ‘Ummm, maybe?’ or ‘Uh, probably not’, we already know we have a cocktail for confusion when it gets to potentially firing someone.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • Honor that pain exists in firing someone
  • Don’t surprise people
  • Never assume roles are self-evident
  • Come from a clean place

08 May 2023The Prize Does Not Chase | E10800:11:45

YOU are the prize and you do not chase. But, if this is true–and it is–why do we not live in this reality? Why do we find ourselves chasing, rather than living as the prize?

As a woman who believes deeply in the value of women (not to say I don’t value men), I desire for you to see yourself as you truly are. Someone of worth. Someone with a beautiful gift to give. Someone worth being supported, listened to, respected... and living the truth that the prize does not chase–regardless of what we’ve been taught over our lifetimes.

“Why is it that not everybody lives by that? Because you don’t believe you’re a prize… You don’t believe you are worthy of not chasing.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • Defining “The prize does not chase”
  • Why you don’t believe
  • Expectations of emotional support
  • Reasons / ways women chase
  • Who are you when you chase?
  • Know you are worth it

26 Dec 2022Leadership Mindset | S06E0300:20:42

I do not believe that the strongest, loudest or most commanding are necessarily leaders. While there are some with great ideas or charisma, those qualities don’t automatically equate with leadership. And in many cases, there are people who are influential, even powerful, but their motivations for leading aren’t pure. What, then, is a true leader?

First and foremost, I believe women are born leaders. The idea that only men are true leaders is false. Secondly, and just as importantly, I believe it all boils down to leadership mindset. We must be willing to work hardest on ourselves. Dig deep into our own minds and deal with what we find there. Let’s talk about it, love.

“The leader has to understand the wake she leaves behind.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • When you raise your hand
  • Power to disrupt and build up
  • Mindset, not position
  • Time for new
  • Discomfort is not a stop sign
  • You must understand yourself
  • Tend the asset

20 Feb 2023Live Podcast: How to CEO Your Business When It's Time for Massive Change | S06E1100:19:08

I almost called this episode, How Do You CEO Your Business When You Wanna Burn the Whole F-ing Thing Down? Because, let’s be honest, sometimes it seems like it would just be easier to wash your hands of the whole thing, right?

If you resonate with this feeling even a little bit, you’re in the right place. In this episode, I discuss the three biggest gaps I see over and over again that either cause massive change or are the result of it. I also tackle the underlying psychological components you’ll need to sit with, such as getting clean and clear, as well as preparing for people to take change personally. Finally, if after listening to this episode you realize you’re ready for more specific advice, I would love to work with you.

11 Mar 2019Ep #2: What is Human Capital?00:21:03

Thinking about your employees as human capital instead of an incurred expense will totally change the way you run your business and the results you achieve.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. Capital is the assets that add to the long-term wealth of a company.
  2. Instead of thinking of someone as an expense you need to incur, think of them as an asset and an investment into your wealth.
  3. In preparing to make such an investment, first ask yourself, “What is the result I’m trying to achieve with this role?”
  4. Second, ask yourself, “How will I track and measure the results of the role to make sure I’m achieving those results?”
  5. Third, “Have I clearly defined this asset’s job?”
  6. The four things you’ll stop doing as a result of thinking of employees as human capital.

05 Oct 2020The Unexpected Truth about Creating a Culture of Accountability | Ep #8600:18:24

If your business has a culture of accountability, that means that your employees accept ownership for their results, no matter what. But with that comes this unexpected truth that has been a thorn in my side for 25 years. Let’s talk about it.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. A leader who works in a culture of accountability must be equally communicative about this.
  2. Feedback is not personal.
  3. Once your accountability system is in place, here’s the snag that women hit that they don’t see coming.
  4. What has been a thorn in Kris’s side ever since she became a manager 25 years ago.

16 Jan 2023What is Your Calling? | S06E0600:15:05

With calling comes responsibility. In order to fully embrace your calling, you first must know what it is – not just generally, but specifically. Then you must be ready to fully embrace the responsibility that comes with that calling. Yet, in order to embrace responsibility, it’s integral to identify the influences of your calling.

Who we are and who we’re called to be is interwoven with threads of influence, whether they be threads of encouragement or discouragement, of vocalization or of silencing. Leadership training, philosophies, and so on, creating vision and purpose, are most often based on ideas that came from the minds of men. Which I’m not saying is a bad thing. But if you believe as I do, that women often speak a different language, and that there is a divine element behind your calling, that this is about the soul of your business, this all deserves investigation.

“A calling is serving a soul.” – Kris Plachy

02 Jan 2023Fire Them Now | S06E0400:13:34

Firing people is extremely uncomfortable, to state the obvious. What may not be quite as obvious, however, is exactly why you’re not firing them, why you should and why you should right now. Don’t drag the same problems you’ve been having into another year.

To help you, I’ve gathered several thoughts I hope are enlightening, empowering and freeing. As I share, I want you to sit and really listen. Absorb the truth that you are not alone in this issue, that you must make firing “that” person happen, and that you can do it. Your business depends on it, your other team members depend on it, and you depend on it. If you don’t, you’ll continue to struggle, to lose sleep, and to stifle the growth of the business you’ve been kissed with. Let’s not let that happen. Let’s face this tough issue and deal with it.

“We don’t hire people to save them.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • Why you have to fire them NOW
  • We don’t hire to save
  • What else they're ruining
  • Let us help you

  • How it will feel afterwards

15 Apr 2019Ep #7: The Interview with Angela Kim, Founder/Owner of Savor Beauty00:39:05

Kris talks with Angela Kim, founder and owner of Savor Beauty. They discuss what motivates Angela and what has been the most challenging aspect to growing and scaling her business.

Angela Jia Kim’s passion for beauty began with her mom. “Koreans are obsessed with their skin, and my mom always had something new sent over from her sisters in Seoul,” she says.

“I would play with her creams that were filled with ingredients like gold and silkworm cocoons.” Angela spent her early career as an award-winning concert pianist, until one day, onstage in front of hundreds of people, a so-called natural lotion she had applied made her break out in hives.

Horrified, she began to study ingredients and craft her own skin care products in her kitchen. “I added luxury ingredients with tremendous skin benefits like champagne, caviar, and truffles,” she says.

“I infused them with organic extracts for anti-aging results.” She started gifting these products to friends, and they wanted to buy them as gifts for their friends. She became the “accidental entrepreneur.”

"I wanted to incorporate the Korean beauty rituals that I grew up with. But as a busy mom and wife living the gorgeous chaos of New York City, I needed flawless skin in a New York minute. And it must be organic, and it must work."

Now Angela runs a group of holistic facial spas in New York City's West Village and Upper West Side, and in upstate New York. She continues to develop luxe organic products in the Beauty Kitchen with her team of Savor Spa Estheticians.

Her Dollars & Scents initiative hires women who are transitioning back into the workforce, by giving training and tools to develop new skills. They make and ship the beauty creams fresh from the Hudson Valley in New York.

Angela Jia Kim is a former concert pianist, wife to a Swissman who loves to brew craft beer in his spare time, and mom to a second grader CEO and a yellow lab named Ella Fitzgerald. They live in New York City's Upper West Side.

What you'll find in this episode:

  1. What it is that drives Angela to continue to excel and grow and take on new challenges.
  2. What the big areas are that you need to be conscious of as a woman who runs her own business.
  3. What the hardest part was of bringing other people into the business.
  4. Angela’s biggest insight to share with women around accountability.
  5. What Angela loves most about her business.

12 Jun 2023Success, Shame and Guilt | E11300:11:57

Why do we feel shame and guilt when we succeed? Where does that come from and why does it hang on, despite the fact that women are punching through old norms?

First, it’s important to note that success is defined by a variety of factors. What one person views as success, another may view as not as important. It might be a particular amount in your bank account, the number of your clients, the size of your team, your notoriety, your following, the amount of personal freedom you enjoy… It’s not about what you consider success, it’s about how you feel about that success. And I believe that, especially as women, we all struggle with this on some level.

“We make the correlation that our joy means we deserve our pain… [And] it takes away our ability in the moment to relish and savor the joy… [Because] we believe there is a boomerang… we dull the joy to protect ourselves from imminent bad.” – Kris Plachy

  • Correlations we believe
  • Belief boomerang
  • Let yourself feel
  • Fearing success
  • Potential of huge wins
  • Savor the joys
  • It’s just life

14 Mar 2022A Conversation with Krista St-Germain | S03E0300:38:21

When life doesn’t go the way we think it will, it can seem like a reason to stop dreaming. Tragedy, especially, drives us into a place of acute grief, followed by days where just putting one foot in front of the other is our limit. Krista St-Germain, Life Coach for Widowed Moms, founder of Mom Goes On and host of The Widowed Mom podcast has lived this. Widowed at age 40, Krista discovered grief recovery through coaching and the ability to dream again.

In this podcast installment, Krista shares her warrior coach power and offers her viewpoints and advice regarding business, life and grief coaching. She touches on unexpected grief, unexpected growth, working with a team, the power of failure, and much more. I hope through hearing this episode, you are buoyed and strengthened in your own journey.

“‘Wait a minute, what lights me up here? What would just absolutely feel like a dream to do here? And then follow that.’ And then, boom! I solved the problem that I was so stressed out and losing sleep over. And then in an hour, it felt totally different.” – Krista St-Germain

What You’ll Learn

  • Unexpected tragedy, unexpected growth
  • Unplanned obligations
  • The who, not the how in business
  • Not minimizing grief in a society focused on happiness
  • Loving what you do and who you help
  • Going for the next evolution despite the fear
  • The strength in making things fun
  • The power of failure

Meet Krista St-Germain

Krista in her own words…

“When my husband was killed by a drunk driver, I was devastated.

Therapy helped me survive the tidal wave of grief and unfurl myself from the fetal position.

I went back to work. Everyone kept telling me how “strong” I was. I acted strong in front of my kids. But inside I felt hollow. All my dreams had included him.

I desperately wanted to believe I could still have a happy, fulfilling life but I wasn’t sure how. Then I began to research grief, trauma and healing extensively. I studied cognitive behavioral coaching and read every book I could find. I combined what I learned about Post Traumatic Growth with cognitive science-based coaching tools and figured out how to turn my loss into a strategy for growth.

I learned to see myself as stronger because of what I’d been through instead of using it as a reason to stop dreaming.

I created a new life using small, manageable steps and techniques that made sense. The changes I experienced were so profound I became a Master Certified Life Coach and created a group coaching program for widows like us called Mom Goes On.”

29 May 2023The Visionary Summer Detox | E11100:22:32

What about rest? True rest? What would that look like? Most of us are not very good at facilitating and executing true rest. We are, on the other hand, very good at having so much to do that we block our ability to rest. You know what I mean… having too many of those things that suck our time and leave us exhausted and overwhelmed.

So I’m calling this a summer of rest. The summer we detoxed from saying yes and said no more. I invite you to implement your own Visionary Summer Detox along with me. In this episode, I share my thoughts and ideas that I hope provide you with inspiration and some direction. Let’s get to resting.

Guiding women and solving issues is my passion. Tackling things that can appear to be unsolvable but really are not. 18 Nov 2024Being a Trailblazing Woman | E18800:17:20

Do you ever feel like your instincts are leading you down a different path than others in your field? Have you questioned whether your unique approach is “right” simply because it doesn’t match the norm? In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, host Kris Plachy draws inspiration from a recent conversation with a client who, like so many trailblazing women, is choosing to follow her own vision in business—even when it means going against the grain.

Diving into the realities of blazing your own trail, Kris captures the complexities of being a woman who doesn’t conform to traditional expectations in her industry. She examines how trailblazing women often face doubt, rejection, and even isolation, as they make decisions that may look unconventional or “wrong” to others. Whether you’re taking bold steps to create something new or stepping away from business practices that no longer serve you, this episode encourages you to honor your vision.

Kris highlights that the journey of a trailblazer is filled with ups and downs—grappling with societal pressures, personal insecurities, and limiting beliefs. But she reminds us that this path, though challenging, is also incredibly rewarding. By standing firm in their choices, these women not only break barriers but also pave the way for others. In Kris’s words, "The path of a trailblazing woman is to wrangle doubt and fear and rejection and jealousy and feeling ostracized.”

Join Kris in celebrating the courage and resilience of trailblazing women. This episode is a reminder that you’re not alone in following a vision others may not fully understand. If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re “doing it wrong” simply because you’re doing it differently, this episode will inspire you to keep going, to embrace your instincts, and to continue carving out a path that’s uniquely yours.

Key Takeaways From This Episode

  1. Definition of a Trailblazer and the Challenges They Face

  2. Personal Experiences and Observations: Kris shares personal experiences and what she has seen among her clients when it comes to stepping outside the norm.

  3. Handling Isolation and Doubt as a Trailblazer: Dealing with negative feedback and the influence of societal norms.

05 Aug 20247 Truths Every Business Founder Should Know and How to Navigate Them | E17300:25:29

Have you ever felt like you're navigating the difficulties of entrepreneurship all on your own? Do you wonder if the challenges you face are unique to you? In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, host Kris Plachy reveals the seven unavoidable truths that every female founder and entrepreneur encounters on their journey to success.

Kris starts by addressing the uncomfortable issues that every business leader must face. She emphasizes that whatever challenge or person you wish to avoid, your business will inevitably force you to confront it. Whether it's having difficult conversations, trusting your intuition, or working in partnerships, these challenges are inescapable.

Kris discusses the reality that as the founder, you hold the ultimate decision-making power. If you are the one taking all the risks, it is imperative that you make the final calls. This responsibility is a fundamental aspect of leadership that can’t be delegated.

Another key truth is the ever-changing nature of everyone involved in a business. Kris talks about the inevitability of change—people will leave, roles will evolve, and you, as a leader, will also grow and transform. She stresses the importance of adapting to these changes to maintain a thriving business.

Kris further explains that the people who helped you get to your current level might not be the same ones who will take you to the next stage of your journey. This truth emphasizes the need for continuous evaluation and evolution of your team and personal growth.

This episode of Leadership is Feminine is a discussion of leadership truths that every business runner faces. Tune in for a thoughtful exploration of these concepts to better understand and enhance your leadership journey.

You are already born to lead. You just don't know it. If you struggle with leading, I believe it's not because you're not capable. It's because you don't believe in what you already know about yourself and you question it.”

Key Takeaways From This Episode

  1. Importance of Facing Challenges Head-On: Your business has a way of forcing you through whatever you don’t want to deal with.

  2. No One Thinks Like You: Establishing clarity on the outcomes and not expecting that things will be done the way you would do them.

  3. Responsibility of a Founder in Decision-Making: Ensure that you are not abdicating in areas of risk in your business.

  4. The Destructive Impact of Unaddressed Issues in a Business: Avoiding problems in your business won’t make them go away.

  5. The Inevitable Change of Your Team and You: Setting the expectation that people on your team will change, and so will you. Those who got you here won’t get you there. And the person you were when you started is not the same version of you that will get you to your goals.

  6. Delineation of Individual Successes Separate From the Overall Business Success: Your success is not their success, and ensuring that compensation is attached with performance and results, not based on how you feel.

18 Mar 2019Ep #3: Who SHOULD and Who SHOULD NOT work for a Female Entrepreneur00:20:09

There are several qualities that drive you and your entrepreneurial spirit. Here are some suggestions for avoiding wasting your brain space and your time dragging people along because they can’t handle working with you.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. Founders have high expectations and low tolerance for mistakes.
  2. They’re incredibly generous and want to recognize and reward people who work for them.
  3. They’re visionaries and they change their minds a lot.
  4. It’s hard to earn their trust, and that can feel like micro-management. Founders are "swoopers" and they always will be.
  5. Sometimes they forget to say thank you and they can be very direct.
  6. They move so fast.
  7. Founders must hire people with “a maturity of spirit” who have enough independence to take action and yet enough humility to not take it personally when they’re told they did it wrong and need to do it again.

10 Jun 2024Embracing Challenges: Clotilde Dusoulier's Perspective on Living an Extraordinary Life | E16500:31:46

You’ve checked all the boxes and you’ve reached a point where many other people would be satisfied, but you know you are ready for more. Do you know what life looks like when you get ‘there’?And do you know how to get from here to there?

In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, host Kris Plachy talks with guest and former client, Clotilde Dusoulier. Clotilde is a food writer and coach, helping men and women better the relationships with themselves and define success on their own terms.

Clotilde's podcast "Change Ma Vie" and her new book "La Methode Change Ma Vie" are all about defining your personal success and avoiding the trap of toxic positivity. It's not about avoiding difficulties, but rather learning how to negotiate them.

Ever felt that unsettling feeling or like something is missing? Clotilde explains that for many, they choose to push away those feelings with temporary relief in the form of buying more or eating more. Instead, she recommends sitting with the discomfort and being inquisitive in order to determine what needs to change on the inside, and that by answering those questions, life will naturally and beautifully unfold.

Kris and Clotilde also focus on the importance of seeking out new projects and maintaining a commitment to growth. Change in life is inevitable, and it is critical to avoid stagnation and find ways to be flexible. As Clotilde says: "We need to create a life in which we can appreciate what we have and where we are, and also be sowing the seeds of something new and pursuing growth."

This is an enlightening conversation between two kindred spirits, both committed to helping people live exceptional lives. Tune in to Leadership is Feminine and find out how to be the difference for yourself and for others!

04 Jul 2022Business Minded with Jody Moore | S04E0600:40:12

Has believing you’re not business minded held you back? If so, I have good news to share: That may only be because being business minded may not be as you envision it. There is much more to it than stats, accounting and marketing. Don’t allow behaviors and skills that can be cultivated and activated – even if you weren’t good at them in the past – hold you back any longer!

Because how we think about all this can be such a hindrance, I wanted to address it. When I thought about how to approach this topic, my friend Jody Moore immediately came to mind. Jody is a gifted coach and she’s developed a program literally called “Business Minded”. As we recorded this episode, Jody shared how she used to believe she wasn’t business minded but learned differently. She and I go on to discuss several aspects of what it actually means to be business minded, including important metrics, consistent behaviors, sales approaches, and much more.

“Without consistent behavior, skills don’t matter. And, the good news is, you don’t even have to have the skills if you just compensate with behavior… And, then of course, ironically enough, the more behaviors you put in, the better your skills become.” – Jody Moore

What You’ll Learn

  • What it is to be business minded
  • Metrics that matter versus indicators that don’t
  • Behaviors, skills and consistency
  • Reframing making offers
  • Is the Business Minded program right for you?
  • Goals that pull
  • Removing bottlenecks

Jody in her own words…

Hello, I’m Jody. I’m a lot like you. I am a mother of 4, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and a woman trying to figure out how to minimize resentment, overwhelm and guilt, and replace them with happiness, gratitude and joy.

Three years after getting married I found myself with two kids under age 2, a loving husband, and a lot of self-loathing. I struggled with the duties associated with being a mom and wife and then I felt guilty for feeling that way. After all, this was the life I thought I’d always wanted.

I have a BA in Communications and an MA in Adult Education along with 15 years of experience as a Corporate Trainer and Leadership Coach, but what has helped me the most to overcome my struggles and to conquer all of my goals, are the tools I use now to coach my clients. Thanks to my extensive training with Brooke Castillo of The Life Coach School, I am now a Certified Life Coach, and I couldn’t be more proud of the work I get to do in the world.

What I learned when I found coaching (and now teach to others), helped me gain my confidence back. It helped me enjoy my kids and love my husband exactly as he is. It helped me create a successful business and be the kind of mom I want to be at the same time. The tools I teach are the ones that have helped me live gospel principles and develop a closer relationship with my Heavenly Father.

Today I have the honor of helping women (and a few brave men) achieve the results they desire in all areas of their life. My clients range from young newlyweds to empty nesters and together, we are changing the results in their lives.

I feel so honored to get to work with these individuals to improve their relationships, their confidence, their physical, mental and emotional health, their money situation and their contribution in the world.

I believe all of my previous education and experience has prepared me to do this work. I’m a lucky woman. And guess what?

So are you. I will help you find it.

As someone who is leading a business and looking to uplevel your life, not only have you endured a lot of change, but it’s also something you seek. But just because you wish things were different, that doesn’t mean that change comes easy. In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, host Kris Plachy talks about the relationship we have with change, and invites listeners to examine our willingness to be open to change.

Kris shares a personal tale of her weight loss journey, losing 60 lbs in a year. Along with her journey, she shares viewpoints on change and how these transformational moments don't arrive through perfect circumstances but through taking action in spite of hardships.

Weaving together her experiences, she emphasizes that your life situation doesn't magically improve post-change, and it's essential to step into a better version of yourself to handle life's challenges more effectively. Kris dispels the myth that everything will be perfect once change happens.

She also emphasizes the crucial role of expert mentors and coaches, saying, "Change is all about you and the chemistry of the experts that support you, with you, because it's not a straight line." The episode reminds us the importance of hiring those who genuinely inspire us and challenge us to better ourselves.

Tune in to be inspired by Kris's personal change journey, learn about her approach to nurturing change, and take a look into the barriers that hold us back from making significant changes in our lives. Change is here. Are you ready?

There is no circumstance that will happen outside of you that will miraculously change how you feel inside. And how you feel inside is exactly how you show up in the world outside.”

Key Takeaways From This Episode

  1. Change and Personal Transformation: The universal human desire for change and the psychological resistance to it.

  2. Importance of Expert Guidance: The appreciation for expertise and the value of getting the help of a professional.

  3. Making the Decision to Change: Distinguishes between making a decision and the resistance, often psychological, to act on that decision.

  4. Implementing Change: Desired change won’t happen unless we take action towards it.

26 Feb 2024Should You Have An Open Door Policy? | E15000:12:28

In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, Kris Plachy challenges the notion of open door policies and their effectiveness in leadership. With her signature wisdom, Kris dives into why simply declaring an open door policy isn't enough to make team members feel truly comfortable approaching you. She emphasizes the importance of being intentional and prescriptive in creating opportunities for engagement with your team.

Kris illustrates the concept by likening an open door policy to inviting someone into your home and how you can best make someone feel welcomed. She urges leaders to provide specific avenues for communication, such as scheduled one-on-one meetings, team lunches, or virtual office hours. Emphasizing the need for proactive engagement, Kris encourages leaders to initiate interactions, particularly with team members they might not know well.

The episode emphasizes that the responsibility of creating a welcoming and approachable environment falls on the leader. Kris discusses the need for leaders to set boundaries and expectations while still being accessible and engaging. She highlights the importance of making team members feel comfortable and valued, ultimately shaping a healthy and productive workplace culture.

There's a mantra that says ‘You first’. And I really think that's true for leaders. You have to go first. You have to initiate what engagement looks like.

Key Takeaways From This Episode

  1. Open Door Policy Misconceptions: Exploring the reasons why open door policies may not be effective

  2. Creating Welcoming and Effective Communication Structures: Specific examples of ways to engage with team members

  3. Communication Strategies Leaders Can Use With Team Members: Suggestions for remote or virtual team engagement

  4. Encouraging Leaders to Take the Initiative In Engagement: Taking a look at how leaders can be more approachable

06 Jan 2025You Are the Asset – Kicking Off 2025 | E19500:20:42

In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, Kris Plachy kicks off 2025 with a powerful reminder: You are the asset. Through a heartfelt and insightful walk-and-talk, Kris unpacks what it truly means to prioritize yourself as the cornerstone of your life and business.

She explores why being “tactic-hungry” isn’t the answer and challenges us to stop outsourcing our wisdom to books, strategies, or others’ advice. Instead, Kris emphasizes the liberating—and sometimes terrifying—truth: the answers you seek are already within you.

Drawing from her own journey and decades of working with clients, Kris shares the difference between tactics and wisdom, why chaos can feel oddly comforting, and how recognizing yourself as the foundation can lead to radical clarity and transformation.

She also announces her focus for the year ahead: helping women embrace their role as the asset in their lives while exploring the Sage’s journey of subtraction, creativity, and reinvention. It’s a call to action for anyone ready to stop spinning and start living with purpose.

This episode is your permission slip to see yourself, believe yourself, and finally act on what you already know to be true. Are you ready to stake your claim in 2025? Tune in for an empowering start to the year

Key Takeaways From This Episode

  1. You’re the Asset: Focusing on the importance of focusing on what you need, in order to be at your best.

  2. Concept of Wisdom over Tactics: The answers are out there and easy to find. But it’s not the answers that are holding you back.

  3. Addressing Unfulfilled Desires: The role of wisdom in achieving objectives.

  4. Recognizing Personal Responsibility and Power: The importance of recognizing one's inherent power to create change.

  5. Connecting to Inner Wisdom: The importance of identifying and not avoiding personal truths.

29 Nov 2021S02 Episode 01: CEO Magic00:16:08
Welcome to Season TWO of the Leadership is Feminine podcast: CEO Magic.

Let me ask you something, Gorgeous: What makes some leaders more successful than others? Skills and tactics can only get someone so far and attributing it to “just luck” dismisses your own power and inner-knowing.

What I have observed in my life and career as a leadership coach, is that influential women leaders have mastered certain currencies that others have not. The currency of discomfort. Belief. Self-understanding. In other words… CEO Magic. There’s always magic there for you to explore, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do this season. Let’s dive in, shall we?

What you'll find in this episode:
  1. An introduction to Season Two of the Leadership is Feminine podcast.
  2. The women who have made a significant impact on me and my life.
  3. Why I think it’s harmful to attribute someone’s success to “just luck.”
  4. The currencies that I believe magicians have mastered. (And how to tap into them yourself!)

18 Sep 2023Leading Like a Coach: How Sports-inspired Accountability Can Transform Your Team | E12700:18:09

In sports, the person who shows up, puts in the hard work, and listens to the coach gets the spot. Just being on the team isn’t enough. You don’t perform, you’re benched. Slack off enough, you’re gone. We not only accept this in athletics, we expect it. Why? Because it’s both logical and effective. So why don’t we treat our businesses the same way?

I submit that we ought to. After all, this is why sports metaphors abound and are highly applicable. They’re logical and effective. Let’s talk about how you can transform your team by leading like a coach.

“What we do as leaders is we spend all our time asking, ‘What’s wrong with all these players? Why aren’t they doing their jobs?’... Well, why would they? They get to keep the job and not do the job.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • Continually earning your spot
  • Lack of clarity
  • Lack of coaching
  • Dealing with what we’ve built
  • Transferring blame and gaslighting
  • Working through the discomfort

A lot of us have resistance, especially as entrepreneurs to slowing down. Because all of a sudden there's this empty space. It's just us and our breath. We don't have a phone to distract us, and emotion comes up. But it's so important to feel that. -Brett Larkin

11 Apr 2022A Conversation with Bernadette Doyle | S03E0700:44:39

The power of showing up, rather than serving in sacrifice, cannot be overstated. When we commit, when we are there, even when no one else is, a superpower is released that often comes in no other way.

In this episode, I talk with Bernadette Doyle, owner and CEO of Bernadette Doyle.com about the superpower of showing up. Throughout our conversation, we discuss feminine leadership, thriving through the unknown, the disservice of sacrifice in business, and much more. I hope you receive a fresh perspective on the magic of committing to, and trusting, yourself.

“There is nothing, in my experience, that trumps that energy of just showing up, committed. I’m committed to serve. I’m here and I’m showing up, even if… you know, you do a Facebook live and you can see you might have no one on with you. But you just show up and you just give it your all anyway. And I think that is the powerpower.” – Bernadette Doyle

What You’ll Learn

  • Thriving during the unknown
  • Relaxing into tough conversations
  • Embracing the feminine model of leadership
  • The superpower of committing

In the past 20 years, there has been a wave of women-owned businesses, and women selling those businesses. However, no one is really talking about it. In this mini series, host Kris Plachy is bringing women business owners on to talk about their experiences of selling their businesses. In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, Kris talks with Andrea Wagner,PhD. Andrea shares her story and lessons she has learned throughout almost 15 years of starting and selling businesses.

Andrea brings a lot of insight to this conversation on topics such as acquiring funding, identifying market indicators, and how crucial it is to surround yourself with co-founders that have skills which compliment your own. She also talks about her latest projects, Lux Lined and Herizon Funding.

This conversation doesn’t just focus on business advice. Andrea also shares what it was like to experience the emotional journey of selling. Unlike the previous guests in this miniseries, Andrea did not stay on for any transitional period after the close of the sale, and she details what that felt like.

The conversation then turns to the need for more badass women in sales, technical, and financial roles with Kris highlighting an important moment when Andrea leveraged the skills of women in her network without feeling like she had to DIY every aspect of a new business venture. As Andrea perfectly illustrates, "Just do it and move onto your next great thing."

Brace yourself for an episode jam-packed with wisdom, wit, warmth, and women empowerment.

12 Dec 2022Why CEO's Should Train Up Their Management Team | S06E0100:18:30

Operations managers (or similar) often go into the work field and do great work for a CEO with training in things like operations, business management, and similar. And yet, they lack training in how to lead, how to manage people, and how to make decisions in challenging situations. As CEOs, it’s easy to overlook this integral component. What we think our management team ought to handle might be too narrowly focused or we might think they should intuitively know and effortlessly execute these parts of their job. But they don’t.

That's why in this episode, I explore why CEOs should train up their management team. Bottom line, you can’t do it all. Nor should you. That makes it critical to the building of your business. Without a management team who can lead effectively, your business growth will eventually stall. The solution is to invest in quality leadership training for your top people. It’s an investment both in your business and in yourself.

“It doesn’t do any good for you to have all this great leadership management and insight and practices and tools if you then don’t have a right-hand who can do the same. Because the goal… is to get to the point where you’re really not necessary in the business.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • The ecosystem
  • Necessity of same training
  • How you’ll grow faster
  • What if they don’t stay?
  • How we help you know
  • Manager’s point of view

15 Jul 2019Ep #20: How to Work with Your Spouse00:21:47

If you are a female entrepreneur, and you’re either in, or considering getting into, a partnership or working relationship with your spouse, there are some absolute fundamentals we need to address.

What you'll find in this episode:

1) A marriage operates very differently than a business.

2) You need to have clearly defined roles in the business for each of you.

3) You need to have a clear definition of who does what and who owns what and what decisions each of you make.

4) You have to decide how you will communicate and have a scheduled, dedicated assigned time and a clear agenda; no after-hours discussions.

5) You have to talk about how you’re going to disagree; decide what the process will be.

6) You have to have clear values, a clear vision and a clear manifesto.

7) You have to have a conversation about how you want to be as leaders and managers of this business.

This week on Leadership is Feminine, we're diving deep into a subject matter that isn't often discussed - the emotional toll of pet bereavement, and how that affects our businesses. 23 Jan 2023Why Female Entrepreneurs Struggle with Support | S06E0700:17:16

Being supported is a vital need but we struggle with seeking and accepting support. We know, intellectually, that leadership is an inside job yet we resist. The insights and changes that must take place in order for us to be more competent and confident women stay on a surface level.

Let’s call it out: female entrepreneurs struggle with support. Whether through societal conditioning or other influences, we act as though we don’t need help. Like we’ve got it all under control. The biggest issue with this fallacy is that it only harms us and holds us back. We can learn plenty of solid techniques and methods for success but those systems will only take us so far. If we cannot internalize insights and information, make them mean something to ourselves and our business, we will fall short of our potential. I don’t want to see that happen to you so let’s tackle it head on.

“You have to believe that you are worthy of being supported.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • Too dependent on self
  • Believe support exists
  • You’re worthy of support
  • An assignment executed with honesty
  • Be willing and do the work
  • Money factor

The All-In Coterie for 2023: Helping women identify what they really want to achieve and really getting over their own hangups about it.

21 Mar 2022A Conversation with Evelyn Hsu | S03E0400:38:41

The mindset of an intrapreneur (an introverted entrepreneur) is one of determination to fix what is wrong, even while it is not in their nature to seek a position of leadership. Rather, intrapreneurs frequently find others inquiring of their wisdom, following their suggestions, and asking them to lead. Insight and depth of caring flourish in the intrapreneur, fueling their innate drive to improve processes and ideals in order to improve the lives of others.

In today’s episode, I talked with Dr. Evelyn Hsu, MD, a natural intrapreneur. She discusses how, as a physician, clinician, teacher and researcher, she has found herself in leadership positions without seeking them. She shares at length about pushing past fear and discomfort to achieve worthwhile ends. We discuss the mindset of being an intrapreneur leader, current and necessary paradigm shifts, and how being maladapted (I love this term she uses) can actually be your superpower.

“I can’t accept things just being bad… Accepting the risk to do what’s right is something I’m really willing to do… You can be afraid of everything and do it anyway.” – Dr. Evelyn Hsu, MD

What You’ll Learn

  • Defining the intrapreneur
  • Navigating difficult conversations
  • The power of doing it afraid
  • Allowing curiosity of how things work in this great organism
  • Shifting the physician’s paradigm
  • Capturing the quiet

Meet Dr. Evelyn Hsu, MD

Evelyn in her own words…

“The only way we can change this system for the better is to stay in it as leaders.

I am an academic physician; I am a clinician, a teacher, and a researcher. I’m a former people-pleaser and perfectionist in recovery.

I love academic medicine for the space that it allows for ideas and research, and for the opportunity it gives us to shape the future of what is possible. I don’t love academic medicine for how it is deeply steeped in patriarchy, and the way it encourages us to pay for our progress with our blood, our sweat, and our tears.

I’m in it as a leader and a coach because I want to bring calm to your chaos without compromising your dreams, cutting down your time, or quitting your job. Simply by getting to the point you are at, you are brilliant and effective. Coaching can get you to the next step faster, and with more joy.

I know what it is like to exist within the system that factors in the combined pressure of clinical work, administrative responsibilities, teaching, leadership, and research excellence.

Only a coach who is also a physician can understand the unique pressures of academic medicine.

We will begin with career visioning and goal-setting. Follow-up modules will be tailored based on your needs.

Module topics inclusive of but not limited to: time management, relationships, people pleasing, perfectionism, negotiation, stress, anxiety, writing, projects and mind/life clutter.”

I hear you, love. You're drowning in content. In quote tiles, free downloadables, and 'how-to' guides. You don't need more voices; you need an ear. But not your girlfriend's or your partner's-they can't give you answers or solutions, they can only offer you their opinions, however well-intentioned.

Take a look at your business and at yourself as the leader of your business. Where are your pockets of opportunity? Have discernment, where do you truly need development and advisement? Be intentional about which problems you want to solve in your business and then invest in them.

In this episode of Leadership is Feminine, I'm teaching you how to reinvent your relationship with time so you can prevent and reduce overwhelm as a woman entrepreneur.

What you'll find in this episode:

  3. You don't have to be 'taught' everything. You don't have to consume so much content, You just have to have someone who can listen to you and show you your own wisdom.

04 Apr 2022A Conversation with Karin Carr | S03E0600:41:04

The power of attraction can be magical for a female CEO. Attraction brings clients, connections and even team members. And when building a quality team, in particular, it can be a secret weapon. People naturally want to work for someone they respect and who is generating good within a particular space. This alleviates the need to go looking for high caliber team members. It also allows the CEO to look into someone who expresses interest in working for them, without making any commitment to hire.

But what, exactly, is the power of attraction? In this episode, I discuss what it is and what it is not with successful CEO and entrepreneur, Karin Carr. Karin is the real estate team owner and CEO at Georgia Coast Homes, the creator of YouTube for Agents, and a coach for those in the real estate business (Karin Carr Coaching). We talk about creating solutions, learning to delegate, turning mistakes into opportunities, and the superpower of understanding attraction. I hope you’ll be inspired and moved to action by this chat. Before you listen, I’ll give you one tiny spoiler alert: The power of attraction isn’t about you looking a certain way.

“You don’t have to be young, you don’t have to be skinny, you don’t have to be gorgeous… By being on camera, yes, there may be trolls that say something negative. But you know what? We can’t let it stop us. You can have such an amazing career if you’re just willing to put yourself out there.” – Karin Carr

What You’ll Learn

  • Moving into helping others
  • Building a team through attraction
  • Being the primary breadwinner
  • Learning to let go and choosing what makes sense
  • Responding to and making use of mistakes
  • Allowing yourself to be seen

Meet Karin Carr

Serving markets throughout GA and SC, her team averages 3-5 inbound leads per day without buying leads. 05 Jul 2021Entrepreneurial Overwhelm | Ep #12500:18:36

Today we’re talking about “overwhelm” – probably in a way that you haven't thought or heard about it before – in hopes of providing you with some relief and the ability to move forward in a different way. Overwhelm is not an enemy - it's just an indicator light.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. Kris’s personal experiences with overwhelm.
  2. Why women need a place to go where they can just think and reflect and be filled up.
  3. How our life’s trajectory changes over the years.
  4. To the degree that you remain overwhelmed is parallel to the degree that you believe you are helpless to make change.
  5. The importance of when you say “yes.”
  6. Make a list of everything that you have on your plate, then really evaluate them from a feeling perspective.
  7. You created this. You can totally deconstruct it.

Many of the women that I work with struggle when it comes to holding team members accountable. 25 Mar 2019Ep #4: The Interview with Laura Patrick, Founder/Owner of Kids Physio00:40:06

Kris talks with Laura Patrick, founder of Kids Physio Group. They discuss what it’s like being a solopreneur with one location and evolving into a leader managing five clinics and 35 employees.

Laura Patrick (nee Turner) was born and raised in North Vancouver, BC Canada. She is the founder and owner of Kids Physio Group - Canada's largest chain of private pediatric physical therapy clinics.

With a passion for sports, she first graduated from UBC’s Human Kinetics (Exercise Science) program in 2001 before continuing on to receive her Masters in Physiotherapy from McMaster University in 2003.

Laura founded Kids Physio Group in 2006 in the humblest of surroundings.

After 3 years working in the public system with school-aged kids, she recognized a need for all children to have access to trained pediatric physiotherapists in clinic space designed just for them.

In the past few years, Laura has stepped back from clinical work. Although she still loves taking on the occasional baby motor milestone assessment and the opportunity it gives her to connect with parents, most of her efforts are dedicated to running Kids Physio Group and seeking out new partnerships and markets for them to expand into!

On the personal front, Laura loves outdoor adventures with her family in Deep Cove, keeping up her fitness, exploring new cities abroad and cooking and eating delicious food!

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. What it’s like going from technician/doer to manager/leader.
  2. Get a mentor; someone you can trust.
  3. Many of Laura’s team are working in the Manager Formula.
  4. Hire good people and then let go.

If you’re having a hard time finding good talent, and nobody's coming to the interviews, or those who do come aren't the people you'd hire – listen in folks. 1. Vital lesson - you can do anything.
  2. 2020 was the “what if” year.

  4. How you hired people 16 months ago probably needs to change.
  5. Do you have an appealing, exciting, interesting, worth it place to work for the people you want to hire?
  6. Be careful about slipping into certain belief systems; then you don't invest in opportunity.
  7. How to be more competitive as an employer? Employee niche, vision and values, job description, compensation - this is all work I do in How to CEO with my clients.

24 Jul 2023Mentor Don't Manage00:11:37

There has been a death of the art of mentorship. We moved from the emphasis of knowing how to do things into the emphasis of education and holding a degree. The issue with this is few people know how to be anything other than managed. And even fewer people have been mentored and know how to mentor. We’re facing a massive deficit in people who know how to develop themselves and others.

Because this does affect our businesses in a very real way, this episode contains an excerpt from one of the modules in my new LEAD FOR WOMEN program, as well as an excerpt from one of the Voxer messages I left a client. I wanted to share these as a podcast episode because they perfectly display both the necessity of and a real-world application of moving from managing people to mentoring them. So let’s go, Mama!

“I believe that if you could learn and adopt a mentorship and a leadership philosophy to how you run your business, instead of a management and a command / control approach, it will change everything for you.” – Kris Plachy

23 Dec 2024Believe: One Month to Believe. One Year to Achieve. | E19300:05:13

Are your beliefs holding you back from achieving your full potential? In this quick episode of Leadership is Feminine, host Kris Plachy dives into the power of belief, purpose, and mindset transformation. As the new year approaches, it’s the perfect moment to challenge the inner narratives that begin with “I can’t,” “I shouldn’t,” or “I’m going to fail.”

Kris offers a bold perspective on traditional strategic planning, urging leaders to stop pouring time and resources into rigid plans that life will inevitably disrupt. “Set some goals, have some ambition,” she says, “but tether them to belief and feeling. That is going to be the most compelling thing you have.” By focusing on intention, commitment, and vision, leaders can create a foundation for success that outlasts any plan.

Kris also introduces her upcoming January program, Believe, designed to help leaders rewrite their mental scripts and act with intention. The program offers mini lessons and live coaching calls to guide participants through a mindset shift that leads to extraordinary results.

20 Sep 2021Reinventing Emotional Powerlessness for Women | S01 Episode 0400:16:08

Throughout my time as a coach, I’ve noticed a pattern of powerlessness when it comes to women. This is not only in their relationships with men, but also within themselves, and this general lack of power often leads to victimhood.

Another observation is that being an entrepreneur often pushes women to completely unexpected leadership growth which can cause challenges in their partnerships. Because in order to be the women needed to run their businesses, they have to stand differently in their relationships with their partners.

Let’s look at what it means to take back your power – to be the truest version of yourself, and how that can help you as both a person and a woman running a business.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. Different behaviors that can result from being a victim.
  2. About being a victim of your employees’ behavior.
  3. Fear around being powerful - around not being the victim, but to being the director of your life and your business.
  4. The story of the monkeys that were separated on an island by a huge wall.
  5. Affecting change for women around the world who are living in environments with little opportunity.

19 Apr 2021Laughter and Leadership | Ep #11400:15:54

Being firm and serious when you need to be is important, but if overused, it can lose its authority and make you unapproachable. Real laughter is a form of connection. I think that leaders who laugh and have fun create better cultures. They create a connection that's based on authenticity and truth - and that is one of the most potent forms of engagement.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. Why levity is a leadership skill.
  2. The reason integrating laughter into your work is so critical.
  3. Why laughter, when you're in a leadership role, is so contagious.
  4. Laughter is the best medicine, and "truth be told, those of us who know this also make the best healers." ~ Kris

22 May 2023Why Aren't There More Women at the Top | E11000:18:32

We may not–yet–be able to address all the reasons there are not more women at the top of organizations, but we can address areas in which we have more control. We do have authority and agency over certain aspects of this current reality. So while we work toward systemic change, let’s also work on the daily decisions we make and with whom we choose to surround ourselves.

As we examine this together, I want to encourage us all to be bold in exploring our own beliefs about ourselves. Where might we be unknowingly limiting ourselves? How might we be unintentionally not advancing our leadership skills? How might we be unwittingly diminishing our presence, even within our own companies? There is a lot to consider, so let’s dive deeply into it.

“You don’t owe anybody any version of yourself other than the one that’s real. And we change. All of us change.” – Kris Plachy

What You’ll Learn

  • One core piece that limits women
  • Supporting one another as women
  • Preventing our own ability
  • Hyper perfection and hyper control
  • Lacking support at home
  • Avoiding aspiration
  • There is no failure

26 Jul 2021The Best CEO Tool | Ep #12800:16:20

I know that you were born perfectly perfect. Your life “kit” was equipped with everything you need to live the life you want to live and to harness whatever you need to make things happen. But your kit didn’t come with instructions. So, this CEO tool allows you to use what you have without dictating to you who you're supposed to be. It leads to wisdom, and once you have wisdom, you can handle anything!

What you'll learn from this episode:

  1. We were all designed perfectly, as was the “kit” we were given.
  2. What’s missing from our kit – the “what’s included” sheet, directions for assembling and a picture of what an assembled kit is supposed to look like.
  3. Many people get hung up looking at what other people’s assembled kits look like, and they think theirs should look the same – but we don’t all have the same kit.
  4. Mimicking, copying, or duplicating other people doesn't help you develop what's in your kit.
  5. The Remarkable allows me to use what I have, and then it follows me instead of it dictating to me who I'm supposed to be. It's a reflection of me. I don't have to fit into it.
  6. In How to CEO, we give you all of the tools and the perspective and the support. Then you have knowledge. We then coach you so that you apply that knowledge to who you are and who you're designed to be. Then you have wisdom. And once you have wisdom, when it comes to leadership and management and the team part of your company, you can handle anything.

I'd really appreciate it if you would click the like button above and leave a review if your favorite podcast app has that ability. Thank you!

22 Jul 2019Ep #21: The ONE Assumption Every Female Entrepreneur SHOULD Make00:19:19

Typically, it’s a bad idea to make assumptions. But in this one case, I want you to always assume this one thing! It will be better for you, your business and your employees.

What you'll find in this episode:

  1. Always make this assumption – when someone on your team doesn’t do what you want, I want you to assume it’s your responsibility.
  2. When we see someone not do something the way we thought they should do it, it’s human nature to blame them for it.
  3. Blame creates lag.
  4. You need to make sure you:
    • Have a clear vision for the business
    • Have clear values
    • Have clear expectations for every team member. Common sense is not common.
    • Are delegating and not abdicating
    • Are following up with people and looking at their results
    • Are giving feedback
