Deborah E, a long-time friend of mine, shares her life-changing experience with Kratom in this episode. Struggling with chronic pain for over a decade, she turned to prescription painkillers like Oxycodone and Gabapentin for relief. However, these medications led to numerous side effects, leaving Deborah in search of a better solution. Upon hearing about Kratom from me, she decided to give it a try and was immediately able to manage her pain and reduce her reliance on prescription medications. Deborah credits Kratom with giving her a new lease on life, allowing her to be more present and effective in her daily activities. Despite misinformation and stigma surrounding Kratom, she encourages others to do their research and consider it as a natural alternative to prescription painkillers. Deborah's story highlights the potential benefits of Kratom for those struggling with chronic pain. It also sheds light on the importance of finding a trusted vendor and starting with a low dose when trying Kratom for the first time. Overall, Deborah's experience serves as a powerful reminder of the healing potential of natural remedies and the importance of seeking alternative solutions to traditional medication. 25 Oct 2024 | Ep 49: Understanding Kratom with Mac Haddow: Science, Politics, and Personal Experience | 00:53:27
In this week's episode of Kratom Stories, Madalyn Sklar interviews Mac Haddow, the senior fellow on public policy for the American Kratom Association (AKA), and a Kratom consumer himself. Mac shares his personal journey with Kratom, revealing how it helps manage chronic pain stemming from past injuries. His introduction to Kratom was unexpected—a vendor offered him a sample, and he experienced a calming effect with an energy boost. This personal experience, combined with seeing Kratom's positive effects on Senator Orrin Hatch (who also used Kratom for pain relief), solidified Mac's advocacy for the plant. He details his extensive experience in politics and how this led him to fight for Kratom's legal status, facing opposition—particularly from within the FDA who are seemingly intent on banning it. Mac details the FDA's biased view of dietary supplements and how the agency's actions threatened to unjustly ban Kratom based on flawed data and the misunderstanding of the plant's benefits. He recounts the intense fight to prevent the 2016 ban, highlighting the passionate outpouring of support from Kratom consumers that ultimately swayed the DEA, and the ongoing challenges Kratom continues to face due to the FDA’s actions. He emphasizes the importance of consumer voices in advocating for the plant, particularly in the face of local bans fueled by misinformation. Mac shares advice for new Kratom users, stressing the importance of starting with small doses to find what works best for their needs. Recent FDA research has shown that Kratom is well-tolerated at various dosages, which should be reassuring to those considering using it. He underscores that various user groups—including those seeking energy boosts, mood elevation, and pain relief—all benefit from Kratom. Mac and Madalyn end the show by encouraging listeners to get involved with the American Kratom Association to protect access to this beneficial plant, which has improved the lives of millions. -RELATED LINKS - American Kratom Association - website American Kratom Association - Facebook Letter from Assistant Secretary for Health, Dr. Brett Giroir Full show notes for this episode at KratomStoriesPodcast.com/49 HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT. 19 Jul 2024 | Ep 35: Finding Freedom with Kratom: Mike Felicetta's Path to Recovery | 00:41:46
From social worker to struggling addict, Mike Felicetta's life took a dark turn after a back injury led him down a path of opioid dependence. Years of battling addiction, rehabs, and even resorting to heroin left Mike feeling trapped. However, a chance encounter with someone purchasing Kratom at a gas station sparked a glimmer of hope. Though his initial reliance on extracts threatened to replace one addiction for another, Mike found guidance within the Kratom community. With the help of individuals like Jordan Richard of New Hope Botanicals, he transitioned to whole-leaf powder and discovered a path towards true healing. Mike's story is a powerful testament to Kratom's potential, but he's also a voice of caution. He stresses the importance of informed, responsible use, steering clear of extracts, and advocating for third-party tested products from reputable vendors. Kratom, for Mike, wasn't a magic eraser that instantly wiped away addiction. Instead, it gave him the breathing room he needed to address the root causes of his struggles, ultimately enabling him to build a fulfilling life and a newfound appreciation for the plant. -RELATED LINKS - Jordan Richard from New Hope Botanicals - TikTok New Hope Botanicals - 10% off with code: KratomStories New Hope Super Green Ultra - Madalyn's favorite. In this powerful episode of the podcast, Stephanie Sue opens up about her remarkable journey with Kratom, which began during a challenging period marked by addiction. After an initial unsuccessful attempt with the plant in 2014, she rediscovered Kratom in 2016 during a pivotal time when the DEA was attempting to ban it. This discovery not only changed her life but ignited a passion for advocacy that led her to work within the Kratom industry for two different vendors, giving her unique insights into both the community and its challenges. Through her experience working in the industry, Stephanie shares invaluable knowledge about proper Kratom consumption methods, including the science behind optimization techniques using warm water and citric acid. She candidly discusses navigating family skepticism, a common hurdle many Kratom users face due to widespread misinformation. Her story takes an interesting turn as she addresses using Kratom during pregnancy, a topic rarely discussed in the community. Stephanie's dedication to education and advocacy shines through as she emphasizes the importance of understanding what you're consuming, particularly warning about potent 7-OH products. Her compelling narrative demonstrates how personal struggles can transform into a mission to help others, making this episode a must-listen for anyone curious about Kratom's potential impact on their lives. 🍃 RELATED LINKS The Kratom Red Bubble Technique Stephanie Sue's TikTok videos related to Kratom: Bud The Swamp Water Guy - TikTok Misty Brown - TikTok Share your Kratom story on this podcast!
