Guest Bio: Classic Crossover Soprona Elona Krasavtseva was born in Russia. Her parents relocated to Kyiv, and Elona grew up in Ukraine and attended Shevchenko State University in Kyiv. Our guest graduated from Moscow State University with a degree in General Arts, but she attended California State University (Moscow Campus) with a Masters Degree in Management. Music has been Elona’s passion her entire life. Her passion for music started as a hobby and evolved into her full time career in 2008.  Between 2012 - 2018 she won four awards in international music contests and Elona participated in a number of music festivals as an author and as a performer.  Elona moved to the United States In 2014, and since 2015 she has produced a concert series under the auspices of Music Club of Florida, featuring musicians from different countries and various genres. In February 2024 our guest had launched her new show a “Tribute to Sarah Brightman” which was featured in several magazines, and in TV, and radio interviews in Florida. On February 26 2022, two days after Russia’s invasion into Ukraine, Elona organized Tampa Bay’s first public rally in support of Ukraine in its war against Russian aggression. Since that time, Elona has organized and participated in a countless number of charitable events that promote Ukrainian culture and support its war in their fight for freedom. Ed has worked in the law enforcement field for over 35 years. His career includes experience as a Police Chief in two cities in Massachusetts. He holds a graduate degree in Criminal Justice Management along with an advanced graduate degree in Organizational Development and Systems Thinking from Suffolk University. He is also a certified executive coach. (Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching).  As a Detective Sergeant with 15 years experience, he took courses at Queen’s College in Oxford, University, England as part of his Master’s program at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. During this time, he also worked with the Thames Valley Police exposing him to new ideas and methods of policing practices. While there he was also enlisted and assisted in bringing the first group of US police officers to Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 1990’s that was featured on National television in the US. This trip was followed up by the first Russian delegation of police officers to come to the United States eventually meeting with then FBI Director Louis Freeh and subsequent meetings with the US State Department who agreed to fund future delegations to the US. While acting in his first Chief’s position in Gardner, Massachusetts he co-created a highly competitive grant application that resulted in an award from the US Department of Justice using an innovative community approach to combat domestic violence. After three years in Gardner, Ed was hired by a Vermont based International NGO, called Project Harmony. He was appointed as Director of a US State Department funding program called Domestic Violence Community Partnership Program to Russia, Ukraine and Georgia that was based on the model he used in Gardner, Massachusetts. As Chief of Police in Fitchburg, Massachusetts in 2006, he co-developed a task force that employed a systems approach to address crime and educational failures of Latino students. Fitchburg was experiencing a higher murder rate per capita than the City of Boston (mostly within the Latino community) and a high school dropout rate for Latino students of over 40%. His ground-breaking work brought the police, minority community and the greater community at large together to engage in a process that identified the root causes as systemic racism, mostly unconscious, and lack of economic opportunities for at risk youth. This work resulted in Ed receiving the 2011 Individual Achievement Award in Civil Rights from the International Chiefs of Police. This effort refocused the community to address these deep seated issues that eventually brought about systemic and political change. These efforts were followed up by excellent and progressive future political and police leadership. Today the City of Fitchburg experienced one murder in 2021 and a Latino dropout rate of less than 8%. He also has extensive international experience having worked in Cairo, Egypt at the U.S. Embassy as a police advisor and three years as Sr. Police Advisor to the police of the country of Moldova in Eastern Europe. While working there he assisted in bringing democratic policing practices and empowerment of women that has assisted in the formation of a strong western leaning government. This work has been magnified in importance in light of Russian aggression toward Ukraine and other former Soviet republics like Moldova. Biography for Special Guest Oksana Kukurudza Oksana Kukurudza is the daughter of Ukrainian refugees who survived Nazi forced labor camps during WWII and then spent years in Displaced Person Camps in Europe before finding a home in the USA.  Our guest earned her CPA and MBA and she has worked internationally in Ukraine and Italy during her thirty-year career. “We Stand With Ukraine-100 Episodes Series-One Story At A Time,” Join Dr. Sergiy Borysov, (Guest Co-Host) and I as we discuss The Holodomor-Ukraine’s Forgotten Genocide. The Holodomor was a man-made famine that occurred in Ukraine when it was a part of the Soviet Ukraine between 1932 and 1933. It was a result of Soviet policies under Joseph Stalin, which included forced collectivization of agriculture and the seizure of grain from Ukrainian farmers. The purpose of the famine was to suppress Ukrainian nationalism and resistance to Soviet rule. As a result, approximately 7-10 million Ukrainians, particularly in rural areas, died from starvation and related illnesses-(the true number of deaths may never be known). Helen Morris is a certified Emotion Code and Body Code based out of Rotorua, New Zealand. She came across this healing modality after tragically losing her 18-year-old daughter, and only child, in a motor vehicle accident in 2017. He was born and raised in Pereislav, one of the oldest cities in Ukraine. Since his childhood Sergiy was very interested in science and biology. This passion guided his education trajectory: Sergiy attained his B.S. in Biology, an M.S. in Biochemistry and in 2000 his first doctoral degree from the National University of Kyiv-one of the most prestigious Universities in Ukraine. In 2001, Sergiy moved to the United States to study in a graduate program at Moffitt Cancer Center. In 2006, he was awarded his second doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida. Life’s is too short and while we get caught up in the monotony of our daily routines, there are moments when we learn to appreciate the magnitude of that statement. In November 2022 I was walking at night, and I received a call from my close friend from college Natasha. Natasha asked if I’d speak to Eva as a psychic medium following the recent loss of her daughters Nicole (16) and Sophia (17).  From the moment that I spoke to Eva we deeply connected, and I strongly believe that we can make a difference when we come together, and that small wins always matter (Ripple Effect). Nicole and Sophia were driving home around a curve on North Sumter Boulevard in Northport, Florida when their car lost traction, flipped over a bridge, and landed on its roof inside a pond. The two sisters lost their lives at the scene of this tragic accident. Sophia was a senior, and Nicole was a junior. Voices of Ukraine: Oksana Bilozir's Inspirational Story Oksana Bilozir. Famous Ukrainian Pop Store, People’s Artist of Ukraine, Former People’s Deputy of Ukraine, and the Former Minister of Culture and Tourism in Ukraine.  Throughout her career, Oksana has made significant artistic achievements. Our guest began her concert activity in 1979 as a soloist of VIA "Vatra," which was founded by her first husband. Since 1994, she has been the lead singer of the music band "Oksana" and has released 15 albums, a DVD, and 10 music films. Not only is Oksana Bilozir a talented musician, but she is also a respected educator. In 1996, she became a professor in the Pop Singing Department at Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts. She also served as the Head of Department and a professor at the Kyiv State School of variety and circus arts. During 1996-1997, she taught at Kyiv State Institute of Culture. Oksana Bilozir's political career is equally noteworthy. She has been elected as a People's Deputy of Ukraine three times, twice from the bloc Our Ukraine (in 2002-2005 and in 2006), and from the bloc Our Ukraine – People's Self-Defense during early parliamentary elections in 2007. In addition, she led the Social Christian Party from 2004-2005, which later merged with United Centre. She became a member of the party Our Ukraine and had President Viktor Yushchenko as the Honorary chairman. However, in 2008, Bilozir and several prominent members left Our Ukraine and joined United Centre. She has been affiliated with various political parties throughout her career, including the Christian Democratic Union. Oksana Bilozir's political journey continued as she participated in the 2012 Ukrainian parliamentary election as an independent candidate, but unfortunately, she was not re-elected. In the 2014 Ukrainian parliamentary election, she was a candidate of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc but did not secure a seat in parliament. Despite the ups and downs of her political career, Oksana Bilozir remains a prominent figure in both the arts and politics of Ukraine. Jason and Megan discuss cases involving missing children and adults with the hopes of increasing awareness of this important topic. On average, approximately 90,000 people are missing in the USA at a given time. The first 12-24 hours are usually the most critical in an active missing person's investigation. The longer it takes to report a missing person to the authorities an open an active investigation, the less likely a positive outcome will occur. For children, the first three hours are especially critical. If someone you know goes missing, you should call 911 and report it to the police immediately.  There are mixed feelings regarding the use of psychics and intuitives concerning these types of cases. Any information obtained from a psychic should be viewed only as an investigative tool and should not replace sound investigative techniques. Join us for our first episode. Jason Interviews Mia Regarding the Disappearance of her Dog, a Gordon Setter named Charlie. I first became acquainted with Mia at my best friend's Heather's wedding which took place last October when we were seated at the same table.  Mia works in the medical profession, lives in Pennsylvania, and frequents the Adirondacks located in Upstate New York.   We have kept in touch after the wedding.  The week of March 11, 2018 through March 17, 2018 started tragically when Mia lost Charlie while hiking in the mountains. Charlie ran ahead of Mia and Kevin, her husband, while going up a short but steep hike up to a rocky point as part of the Adirondack Mountains.   For three days, Mia and Kevin attempted to find Charlie to no avail. On Thursday, March 15, 2018, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Mia called me to ask whether I picked up any information about Charlie once she explained that he went missing and that they were searching for him.  I told Mia that Charlie is still alive and that I was picturing him in a shed-type shelter with either a sliding or swinging door attached to it or on the property of a stained wooden house which had three or four long narrow windows. I didn't feel that Charlie was too far from where he went missing. I felt that the residence was empty but that the owner may be coming up to the house within the next 24-48 hours, that Charlie did not appear to be hurt but that he was probably just disoriented. I also saw a tan rope leash still on Charlie. I said that Mia and Kevin would find Charlie within the next day or so and that everything would turn out ok. Mia will share her firsthand account with us based on this remarkable story and what happened after our call.   We hope that you can enjoy this story as much as I did experiencing it a few months ago.   Learn more about your ad choices. Brian C. Wilson, author of the new book, John E. Fetzer and the Quest for the New Age, is a professor of American religious history in the Department of Comparative Religion at Western Michigan University (WMU). It was during his years in the Peace Corps that he developed a fascination with religion, initially fueled by what he experienced of the ancient religion of the Maya, and of Roman Catholicism. Jason interviews Dr. Carlo Maley on the ways that Nature has already beaten cancer.  Dr. Maley received his Ph.D. from MIT in computer science (computational biology) in 1998 working with Rodney Brooks and Michael Donoghue (at Harvard at the time), his M.Sc. Zoology (evolutionary theory) from University of Oxford in 1993 working with W.D. Hamilton, and his B.A. in computer science and psychology from Oberlin College in 1991.   He went on to hold faculty positions at the Wistar Institute (2005-2010) and the University of California San Francisco (2010-2015) before joining Arizona State University in 2015. Maley is a Renowned Cancer Biologist, Evolutionary Biologist, and Computational Biologist.  Maley will discuss the findings from his TedxTalks Event: "How Nature Has Already Beat Cancer." (TEDxASU), published on 5/22/16.  Jason looks forward to interviewing Dr. Maley about his research which describes Twelve Examples of Animals Who Have Beat Cancer Through Evolution including such animals such as the elehpant, rhinocerous, giraffe, water buffalo, indian bison, polar bears and others.   Maley's team applies evolutionary and ecological theory to three problems in cancer: (1) Neoplastic progression: the evolutionary dynamics among cells of a tumor that drive progression from normal tissue to malignant cancers, (2) Acquired therapeutic resistance: the evolutionary dynamics by which our therapies select for resistance and we fail to cure cancer, and (3) the evolution of cancer suppression mechanisms in large, long-lived animals like elephants and whales (a problem called Peto’s Paradox). They use genomic data mining, phylogenetics, computational modeling, as well as wet lab techniques to solve these problems. Have you ever wondered about what awaits us when we cross over? Have you ever dealt with a health scare where you go through a complex series of emotions and fear the future?  In September 2018, I was diagnosed with Stage One Kidney Cancer while undergoing a routine CT scan.  When I was first diagnosed with Cancer, I was emotionally numb about it.  I felt that I would get through this bout of it since it was Stage One. I minimized it and its impact on my current life.  Then I had a cryoblast/cryosurgery procedure to remove the cancer tumor from my right kidney on September 26, 2018.  As I awaited the results from the surgery a complex series of emotions that were previously bottled up within me started to emerge.  I felt so lucky and fortunate that I caught this tumor in its earliest stage. However, I also had a sense of guilt about those who are not as fortunate and who have a much more difficult struggle.  Even now when I think back to the past few weeks, I have not fully processed the full impact of my individual experience.  I have a great deal of gratitude for those who have been increbily concerned and supportive for me.   On Thursday, November 1, 2018, I underwent a routine colonoscopy and endoscopy as I prepare for my next surgery.  While under anesthesia, I had what I believe to be a significant spiritual experience.  I believe that I might have captured a glimpse of what awaits us on the other side. I feel strongly that I encountered my deceased grandparents and other family members who reassured me and provided me with information to relay back to my mother and others in family. Most importantly, I experienced Unconditional Love in its purest form and it was powerful and healing. In this special episode, I wanted to share this experience with you and I hope that you enjoy it.
