Jo Elvin is back in the podcupboard and swoon – she's bought one of the nicest people around to come and join us. Yes, it's GLAMOUR's Claudia Mahoney! So hey, is it OK to not be good at anything? To stay in a relationship because it's comfortable? And is it OK to have no interest whatsoever in that thing the whole world is talking about? Plus don't forget to get your tickets for the LIVE episode of Hey, It's OK... in London on September 16 at kingsplace.co.uk. 26 Dec 2017Davina McCall, Psychics, Kiss-Ass Tweets & Menopause00:32:14

Happy Boxing Day everyone, hope you had a brilliant Christmas and that no relatives were harmed during conversations about Brexit. Jo and James have a proper festive treat this week – the inspiring and all-round good egg Davina McCall is here, talking about her new DVD Toned in 10 which is out today.

But don't worry if exercise is the last thing on your mind right now, as they have a lot of non-exercise stuff to talk about too, including using psychics – Davina's story is pretty intense – and exactly who they've all been tweeting in hopes of a reply (still waiting on Dwayne Johnson tbh). And a long conversation about the menopause becomes a discussion about how to get men to open up.

This week's episode was recorded on November 6 in central London. It was edited by Kat Brown, with music by Martin Austwick.

Jo and James are joined this week by the actress Ophelia Lovibond – you’ll know her from Guardians of the Galaxy, W1A and Elementary, as well as the play Nightfall, which has just finished its run at London’s Bridge Theatre.

The team discuss Ophelia’s amazing name (and how posh she actually is not), how she got her break, Skype auditions, and the truth about how casting works. And the team discuss their IIJMS: is it just Ophelia who still rings her parents to ask them the most basic of things? Is it just Jo who’s comfortable with silence? (Not that you’d know it.) And is it just James who has zero poker face and wears all his emotions on his sleeve?

14 Aug 2018Tina Daheley, Snooze Buttons, Forward Planning & Joining In00:38:06

The broadcaster and journalist and, as Jo calls her, “busiest b***h at the BBC”, Tina Daheley, surfaces after 10 years of presenting breakfast news for BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, and other channels. She takes a breather in the podcupboard with Jo and James to compare notes on covering this year’s Royal Wedding, not missing a single breakfast show (despite some very close shaves after team nights out), and moonlighting on the News at Ten and encountering Huw Edwards. And a podcupboard crush is revealed on the very same charming Welsh newsreader!

And of course, there are some vital topics to discuss: so is it just Tina who’s addicted to the snooze button? Is it just James who’s not great at forward planning? And is it just Jo who’s not a “joiner-inner”?

This week's episode was recorded on July 31 by James Williams. It was edited by Kat Brown, with music by Martin Austwick.

07 Nov 201761. Nigella Lawson, Food Ruts, Fussy Eaters & Hoarding00:36:30

Joy hits the podcupboard this week in the form of Nigella Lawson, who joins James Williams and Kat Brown for the last in this series of Hey, It's OK... to talk about her new BBC One show - and fabulous accompanying book - At My Table.

So, once James managed to calm down about the "Dalai Lama of Domesticity" joining him, there was a lot to chat about, from Instagram, to poaching eggs without using a vortex. And of course, there are three topics to discuss. So hey, is it OK to be stuck in a food rut? Is it OK to have a slight hatred of fussy eaters? And is it OK to be a hoarder?

This is the last episode of the podcast under the Hey, It's OK... name, but fear not: Jo and the pod gang will be back here with a snazzy new look on November 28 as Is It Just Me.

07 Aug 2018Rachel Khoo, Bananas, Familiar Faces & Home Cities00:37:46

The British-Malaysian-Austrian chef Rachel Khoo came to fame in the UK through her brilliant 2012 TV series The Little Paris Kitchen, but by then she had already published two cookbooks in France, where she had been living since deciding to up sticks from London and retrain as a patisserie chef.

Her sixth cookbook, The Little Swedish Kitchen, is inspired by her new home country, which she moved to in 2016 with her Swedish husband – they welcomed a son last year. Rachel joins Jo and James to talk about life in Sweden; picking up languages like most people pick up holiday photos; her IIJM-approved chocolate mousse recipe; art student haircuts, and being mistaken for Emilia Clarke in Game of Thrones.

And of course, there are some vital topics to discuss: so is it just Jo who would outlaw bananas? Is it just James who gets told “You look really familiar!”? And is it just Rachel who feels as though she doesn’t have a home city?

This week's episode was recorded on July 23. It was edited by Kat Brown, with music by Martin Austwick.

21 Aug 2018Jade Beer, Child-Free Weddings, 'Hanger' Issues & Limp Massages00:29:47

With Jo on holiday, James takes the opportunity for a cosy chat with a former colleague: BRIDES magazine editor Jade Beer, whose debut novel The Almost Wife is out now.

James and Jade talk about making work/life/family balance work when you live between London and the Cotswolds, the realities of magazine editorship vs the glossy image, and how to write a novel on your train journey (and resist the temptation just to watch Netflix instead).

And of course, there are some vital topics to discuss: so is it just James who breathes a sigh of relief when he gets an invitation to a child-free wedding? Is it just Jade who gets incredibly hangry? And is it just James who hates a limp massage?

She's starring in the BBC's new drama, Hard Sun, from the creator of Luther, and you can watch the lot on iPlayer right now.

But before any further shows can be plugged, the trio set to work analysing large group dinners (just say no), friends you can only really hang out with when you're both hammered, and the bittersweet feeling of being defined by what you do for a living. How can you break beyond that?

Gok Wan joins Jo and Kat in the podcupboard ahead of the launch of his new one-man stage show, Naked & Baring All and, well, to get some practise in, basically. There is a LOT of soul baring, and a lot of laughs in this episode, as you'd expect from the man who got the nation to reappraise their body image and wardrobe, and feel better along the way.So hey, is it OK to be desperate for autumn/winter to get properly underway because your wardrobe is just so much better? Is it OK to embellish the truth? (Gok's story about how he became a makeup artist will have your jaw clanging on the floor.) And is it OK to have no idea where your life is going? They discuss Will’s starring role in the new production of Strictly Ballroom, the dangers of roller skates, and how to end up with an incredible successful podcast when you don’t listen to them.

And the team discuss their IIJMS: is it just Will who doesn’t talk to his neighbours? Is it just James who’s reached a stage in life where he’s waiting for second marriages to come around? And is it just Chris who never takes photos anymore?

05 Jun 2018Lorraine Kelly, Paper Diaries, Dry Cleaning & Mantras00:37:00

The utterly glorious broadcaster, writer and all-round icon Lorraine Kelly joins Jo and James in the podcupboard this week (how is she 60 next year? How!).

They discuss Lorraine’s incredible career in TV, and how she’s survived all those early mornings; her beloved border terrier Angus (James is keen on getting an Angus too); and how to maintain a sunny disposition in the era of selfie autographs.

And the team discuss their IIJMS: is it just Lorraine who still loves a paper diary rather than relying on her phone? Is it just James who has a gigantic pile of clothes that, realistically, are never going to be taken to the dry cleaners? And is it just Jo who can’t think up an Instagrammable personal mantra?

03 Apr 2018Roman Kemp, Friends, Loo Roll & Splitting Up Relationships00:41:19

Jo and James are joined this week by the Capital FM DJ and TV presenter Roman Kemp, who takes to the eccentricities of the podcupboard like a duck to water. As well as revealing his secret middle name, Roman talks about why you should never get caught short at the Great Wall of China, life in a famous family, and the worst interview he's even given. And if you ever wanted to hear James's strong views on what colour loo roll should be, well: listeners, your ship has come in.

Plus, there are listener emails; discussions about what size your friendship group should be; the loo roll debacle; and is it just Jo who wants to split up friends from ill-suited partners? And sorry for the drill noises underpinning the early part of the episode, it does get better.
