For episode 131 we did a discography ranking and discussion of one of our favorite bands - Immortal. There was only one way to do this properly and that was to tap into the grim and frostbitten spirit of Blashyrkh by adorning our faces with the war paint of old and channeling the Northern Chaos Gods. There was an ice storm across the country the day we recorded this and I think this was no coincidence.

I finally got the chance to speak with the bass god himself - Steve Digorgio before a show for Death to All. I stuck with the Death theme for this one so we went way back to how he met Chuck, how he was in and out of the band even from the early days, writing/recording Human & Individual Thought Patterns, his friendship with Chuck, what it was like working with Chuck near the end of his life, working on Control Denied, & even his experience working on the latest Megadeath album.

After a short break were back with more Death! This time we're talking about Individual Thought Patterns & Symbolic and have interviews with Andy LaRoque and Gene Hoglan! Andy played on ITP and is the long time guitarist for King Diamond. Gene played on both ITP and Symbolic and had a ton of great stories and info about that period and Chuck so stay tuned for that at the end of the episode. Also, if you haven't, make sure to listen to the previous episodes in the Death series first since we recorded them all in one sitting and will probably make more sense.

Since we've all been working hard on those end of the year lists, we kept things for this episode and talked mostly about EP's and demo's that we wont get to talk about with all the full lengths. Plus we had Sam who is a fine southern gentlemen and one of our Patreon listeners on as a special guest to bring in some of the stuff he's been jamming. Derrick Vella of Tomb Mold is back and for the first half of the episode we kept it casual and talked about quarantine life, Tomb Mold, his new doom project, what metal we've been listening to including new stuff and a lot of older stuff, joining Outerheaven, favorite hardcore bands/albums, and a whole lot more. 

The 2nd half of the podcast is were things get weird and is all about our love for the band The Drive by Truckers. For those unfamiliar, they are basically an alternative country/southern rock type band but really pretty hard to classify. There's no metal to be found here. We realized we are both obsessed with this band a while back and Derrick through out the idea of ranking our top 20 songs from them. I loved it. You probably wont. Thats ok. It just gave us something to break up the quarantine boredom and have some fun with. Even if your not into it there was a lot of interesting side conversations throughout so its worth giving a chance to. For the two of you out there that get all the way through the episode we solute you!

The boys returned to there origins of recording in person for this one. Topics included new recommendations, Between the Buried and Me concert review and review of Colors 2, review of the new Carcass album "Torn Arteries", a little talk on how our musical tastes have changed since we started the cast, and an interview with Aaron Weaver of Wolves in the Thrown Room. Like everyone else I am completely blown away and absolutely crushed about the news of Riley from Power Trip. Its not hard to see from everyone's comments and from anyone that knew him that he was not only an amazing front man but he was also a passionate guy that stood for what he believed in no matter what. He always spoke out against the things he felt were unjust with no care as to what his fan base would think. That's a rare quality to find in metal and I think he left a huge void behind in that respect. I wanted to post this interview I did with him back in 2018 while they were on tour with Gatecreeper and Cannibal Corpse as a tribute to Riley, for those that might want to hear it, and really because its pretty special to me at this point. This interview almost didn't happen since Riley fell asleep before the show when we were originally scheduled to talk. He had apologized and said we could do it after there set even though Im pretty sure he didn't realllllly want to do it since he looked exhausted and ready to chill but did it anyway. Im super thankful to have been at that show and to have that memory. Rest in Power man.
