Our guest for today's episode, Maurie, an HPWL graduate, will walk us through her Hypnosis journey.

In this episode, Maurie talks about what it's like to be running and taking on the responsibility of managing a business that has been passed on for generations. With her own family dynamics to deal with, perfectionism and feeling of unworthiness add up to what seems a burden. She shares how the tools provided in her Hypnosis journey let her slow down for her to speed up.

Emotions like anger that most of us are having a hard time dealing with, she's able to manage well before it damages her and the relationships at stake. What she used not to have a special liking to doing it, she's now able to work on and turn it into something purposeful and productive. 

Though to her, it really is scary; nonetheless, she breaks the barrier -- thinking and digging down deep as to delving into her 'whys' and 'hows' and being self-aware and ultimately becoming more of herself. Hypnosis for permanent weight loss gives her the chance of a lifelong journey of well-being and freedom.

The subconscious mind holds deep-seated emotional issues that when not addressed manifests itself in various forms. The brain has its ability to send messages that in essence keeps you safe but in reality, blocks you from facing the reality head-on. This keeps reinforcing in you that scarcity mindset, and when you do have it, all you can do is react to it as expected. An impulsive action happens all the time. And most times in my dealings with clients, most of this anxiety and emotional eating goes back to those times in the past where one is deprived of food where your own parents stop you from eating, it may also be that food provides you a distraction away from any emotional battle you are experiencing at one time or another without you knowing it. It is actually our fears that we let to run our lives that prevent us from truly acknowledging what the issue is all about. When those aren’t brought to light then it triggers anxiety leading to emotional eating.  That is why when we let subconscious modalities that I know of work in our body, then, we will see that opportunity mindset sets in. We always think that there will be enough for us and we don’t resort to actions that will only fill that void even more. There is mindful eating that happens, a deep understanding of those fears that we have, and getting back control of what is happening around. When that occurs self-awareness begins to make sense. And it is in making sense of all these that we begin to have peace and move us so much faster from the problem that we get ourselves in. “The biggest cause of anxiety that I see in clients is scarcity. One of the things that get locked in there from the primitive brain is this needing to survive and actually thinking that there is not enough. And when we feel this lack, most of us don't even realize what's actually happening that causes us to take that impulsive action, which can lead to emotional anxious eating, which is how we can feel so out of control.”

Nothing is more powerful than our thoughts. Besides, society tells us that is what is happening. And we believe it.
The same thing happens with menopause. Though Science points out facts around weight gain and not losing weight, ultimately, it's what we believe that matters. 

If you continue reinforcing the belief of what everybody says about it with the bad habits and thinking, that would only add up to making you not drop off those excess pounds even more. Statistics have proven that many women have dropped pounds even in their menopause stage. There is so much that belief can do to lose weight.  If all you think about is what others say about menopause, consider thinking that there could be something else adding up to this wrong notion about menopause and losing weight. Something deep-rooted might be getting in the way, which needs to be addressed.

Don't you know that the triggers we experience in childhood are factors blocking our weight loss?   Medical studies show that whatever stress or emotional issues we deal with early on in life will become medical problems later in life.

The mind and body will create a shield to shut out all the pain by eating them away with food.

That's what often happens than what we care to know about.

Do you want to mask it forever with false cures, or do you want that peace and freedom for the rest of your life?

Dr. Franchell Hamilton's years of education started at the University of Houston Honors College, where she received her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Chemistry, summa cum laude. She further pursued her education in Lyon, France, where she completed graduate studies in biochemical engineering. It was not until the chance encounter with an orthopedic surgeon that Dr. Hamilton's future began to take shape. Upon hearing that Dr. Hamilton was unsure of what to do with her future, he encouraged her to pursue a career in medicine.

In just this brief interaction with a stranger, a new path was formed. The impact of his words inspired Dr. Hamilton to also change the lives of those she meets through practicing medicine, and eventually, consulting. And so, she continued her education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to earn her doctorate in medicine. She then attended Eastern Virginia Medical School to complete her residency, and ultimately her fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. The bariatric surgeon she was studying under demonstrated the large impact weight loss alone can have on a person's health. This realization led her to refine the scope of her medical career by focusing on weight loss and wellness. After completing her bariatric fellowship in 2013, Dr. Hamilton did just that. She founded A Better Weigh Center – a place for her patients to receive treatments ranging from bariatric surgery and medical weight loss to hormone therapy.

In this episode, Dr. Franchell shares how mindset is essential in any patient's weight loss journey as it impacts the way you deal with pain and stress. If your emotions are not stabilized and dealt with firsthand, you will always go back to how you used to be.

You can have the surgery now, but the littlest of triggers will make you spiral back to food obsession if you don't feel safe in your thoughts and emotions. And the same problem keeps presenting itself with no permanent solution.

There is a huge emotional factor after surgery. Relationships also play a big part in this. And when these things are all being addressed first, even that alone can help you lose weight.

And Hypnosis is all about that mindset work – working on your emotional mastery, not just giving you a temporary solution but one of lasting transformation.

"I always empower my patients as we can; if you want surgery, we have to go through this mindset stuff first. If you don't, and then who knows? At the end of four months, three months, you may not need surgery. So, I often leave it up to them. Some people can hold themselves accountable, but some can’t. Why can we not pay as much attention to losing weight as we do in other important areas in our life? How can we go further and faster without just not ourselves doing that?

Renee Jones spent 40 years on that Diet Yo-Yo, and in 2012, she finally smashed it by overcoming emotional eating and has maintained her healthy weight since then.  

Her mission is to help others who struggle with their weight, who look to food for stress relief and to soothe themselves. No diet, exercise routine, or magic diet potion can counter the effects when we’ve stuffed down our feelings and followed it with a food chaser. We have to heal our hearts. When we face our stuff, we no longer need to stuff our faces.

With a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Clinical Residency, she utilizes traditional and contemporary models as well as relaxation and horse-assisted methods to help her clients free themselves by addressing emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. In 2011, she opened an international private practice in counseling, serving clients and colleagues in the U. S., United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, India, Vietnam, South Africa, Romania, Australia, and New Zealand.

In this episode, Renee shares how she had all this emotional baggage she carried with her, having this belief, and this feeling of not being acceptable, being too much, or not good enough.

Our way of being is the most important thing to us. That is what makes the difference in our life. This way of being is compared to a dog versus cat energy. When you have the dog's energy, you are bursting with enthusiasm to do things faster than you forget about how to be present at the moment; your mind is all occupied with all the things you want to be done right there and then.  How about becoming more like a cat this time -- taking it slow, being mindful of what's happening around you, getting into yourself, just being calm, and being on the receiving end of help?

Can't you seem to find joy outside of food, alcohol, and parties? Why do you always make yourself wrong for wanting to have food? How can you stop yourself from constantly thinking about it? Is that even possible? How not to fear food and strongly wrestle with the thought of not eating a cookie lest you gain those pounds you so continually dread? These questions appear to be endless. Think of a life where you don't stress yourself too much around food. You stop getting scared of the idea of food. Instead, you move freely around it and enjoy the satisfaction for which it brings you without feeling the unnecessary guilt we almost always subject ourselves to. Yes, a life entirely ditching a diet mentally where when you fall off track, you will only end up depressed and getting back to being unstuck. You can have a life centered on your passions that brings you profound happiness and joy. As with client’s’ experience, Hypnosis for permanent weight loss helped slow down their minds to this nagging voice running inside their heads.. They start not caring about food, diet, and exercising any more than they used to. You may be unconscious of it right now, or you are already starting your journey to your path of alignment. Yet you still find food as your comfort blanket; that's understandable. Each one has a unique path. And this is the best time for you to explore all the possibilities for yourself. You can pursue your passions. You can go into meditation; that helps you bring back to your core. Consider getting yourself back to the past and think about what you love doing in your childhood and bring it back today. Also, service to others is the one best thing to get you out of your head and out of food. People find happiness serving other people. Have dates with friends. But not so much around food and alcohol but on something else you both love doing outside of it. Before you know it, you'll find yourself wanting it to happen every so often. You might want the idea of journaling, or else you can do gardening. How about you listen to music and dance like crazy. Meditation also helps. You can have all the creative things to do; all you have to do is plan it, set a time for it, and take action.

But the thing is, if you can't connect to your reason why you are doing it, then it's not sustainable. I recommend you look for someone successful in what they do and help you be accountable for your actions and become successful yourself. There is something about sugar that we fear about. Rightly so, because research says it's more addicting than heroin or cocaine. I used to buy that idea before but not anymore, the reason is that Science proves it is easy to digest and metabolize sugar than it is to metabolize alcohol or any kind of drugs. Most often than not, diets involve not consuming much sugar. When you exercise, it is best accompanied by not eating sugar-laden food. Apart from sugar in fruits, you make sure there is nothing more than that. That makes life so restrictive. And when you tell yourself to stay away from sugar, your subconscious mind tells you to have it. And it's a never-ending tug of war between what you really want and what it calls you to do for your body's sake. And if this is how things roll out every day for you, putting morality on food, that it is bad or not good for you, it would never amount to anything.

Permanent weight loss happens when you give yourself permission to just enjoy what you do, in this case, eating sugar and be at peace with the thought that you are aware of what it's gonna do for you and your health. This all amounts to awareness and intention. Whatever you do should come from a place of love for yourself and not fear for something that restricts you instead to be in the moment.

We live in a world of diagnosing and fixing. In a way, it contributes to our mindset that there is always something wrong, that you are the problem. And without us noticing, it gets into our being. And we always work hard to prove to everyone else that nothing’s wrong. This puts us in a situation where it’s hard to go out there and acknowledge to ourselves that we need alignment in our life. It doesn’t necessarily mean we’re bad for the choices we made in life, it’s about looking at the brighter side to make something new of us again. Another thing is passing the blame to people for what happened to us in the past. It was there. It is a matter of accepting that it indeed happened. That there is nothing you can do about it, all you have the power is to make the best of what you can do now. And that is owning full responsibility to turning your life for what could be the best you can imagine it to be. 

Yes, everything is in your hands. We have full control. Just like our food, body, and weight issues. We can always wallow in pity, in fear. We can always believe the worst in us. But we can also always rise up from that negativity and start the road to inner peace and freedom.

What your emotional world looks like and how you respond to it can be framed as part of your inner child acting out. What influences this pattern of behavior goes back from zero to ten years of when we were born. What happens during those times are deeply embedded in the subconscious, and when triggers appear, that's when it surfaces, usually in the latter part of life. At some point in our childhood, we have been subjected to some trauma, including rejection, abandonment, betrayal, and injustice. All these show symptoms at one point or another. For the most part, though, we don't admit it contributes to our obsession with food one way or another.  Whatever we truly need in our life, instead of finding the right cure for it, we try to numb it with food. Hence, our constant struggle with body weight and body image. And what's even sadder is we refuse to acknowledge that scary part that could have been the first step to a lifetime of freedom.     

The good thing with the Hypnosis program is the awareness of these behavioral patterns that come out every time these traumas are stirred up. This time you don't deal with it just like you let it under the rug. The good thing is, you have the tools ready to face it and deal with it the best way. 

It's like you don't have to deal with diets anymore. Your life becomes way more than just about food. You don't obsess about it anymore. There are far more beautiful things you can set your mind on other than food. 

And what's more good about it is, you don't get scared around food. Because that's when you can trust yourself, and that inner child within you is assured of a safe place where she can stay peacefully.

We might assume that someone just needs to change their eating habits, or that they should just try to be more positive about their body. But the reality is that these issues are often a symptom of a deeper problem.

At the root of food obsession and body image issues is an unmet need for love and acceptance. People who struggle with food obsession and body image issues often feel inadequate or not good enough. They may feel ashamed, embarrassed, or unworthy of love, acceptance, and belonging.

This can lead to a cycle of self-loathing and obsessive thoughts about food and body. The good news is that these issues can be addressed and healed. One of the best ways to start is to recognize that there is a need for love, acceptance, and belonging that has gone unmet. That’s when she tried to earn her keep until that fateful day she met a company that helped her to become what she is today. 

Her life story is a deeply ingrained trauma that keeps resurfacing in some aspects of her life. She has to contend with that body image, relationships that aren’t nurturing, a false sense of self-worth, to add to it. The reason why she goes into all sorts of therapy to get through all those. That’s one best thing about her, acknowledging the need to have someone else help her sort things within. She used to be not comfortable talking about her story before, but this time she’s learned to speak up and made to resonate with everyone, especially those who share the same experience as hers. Though there is so much mind work that has to happen to get her out of that past trauma fully, what is one thing that keeps her finding joy in life is surrounding herself with people who brings positive vibes despite themselves. The fact is that when you drink too much alcohol you will lose your inhibition. This then contributes to a diet mentality wherein you are not able to stick to whatever food plan you have in place. When we associate permanent weight loss to alcohol we have to take into account the subconscious reasons why we can’t say no to what is being offered to us. One thing to note is that our attachment to things is too strong. We make decisions based on emotions so that the moment something is offered to us, we immediately say yes to it. We only deal with the result of our actions when we experience the aftermath of, in this case, drinking alcohol the next day. Another thing is the fact that we take negative connotations towards certain foods that, to our mind, always make us fat if we eat them.  If only we take out all this morality we attach to food or alcohol, that it is good or bad, right or wrong, then we will allow ourselves to have that unconditional permission to have what we truly want without feeling guilty over it. Because it is in this light that we allow mindfulness to take over our actions. And when this happens, we can break stuff down, we slow down and we make an empowered choice on things that will only bring us good. And that's when we truly understand things, not from a place of fear rather from a place of inner peace and freedom. And this is where hypnosis plays a part in fully making things happen. “The idea is not to have you never do that thing ever again. The idea is to get rid of that attachment.”

All we think of is ourselves and what we think other people think about us. We fear the thought of what might be even if it is just imagined and not holding a bit of reality. Fear thoughts surround us and scarcity mentality overpowers us. Yes, when you have body hatred, your mind is clouded with all these negativity and prevents you from celebrating who you truly are.  For as long as you implement great healthy habits everyday and feed your body with what is nutritionally essential, that is one good reason to be elated about. Who is to say that it is not the perfect body size for you? You don’t have to go on a strict diet that when you fail at it, unhappiness consumes you. Thus, making people around you unhappy, too. Why be so hard at yourself when you have the choice to channel your energy on the more important things in life? Look at it this way, maybe you have the body that you are having now because it is specially meant to carry the purpose for which you are meant to do. And we have to remember that when we die and someone looks at us inside the casket, they won’t say, ’ oh wow she always has that sexy body’. Instead, they would remember us for how fantastic we made them feel and how much difference we make in other people’s lives. It’s all about changing perspective. Why can you not lose weight until now and after grabbing every diet plan you can get out there? What has been going on in your mind all along? What do those inner voices tell you?  Early on in life, each of us is made to believe what social media, our friends, and even our family have fed our thoughts with that we take them as something that truly matters. And that contributed much to our beliefs and feelings that have dragged us down way lower into despair. We listen to everything that everyone on every side is saying.  We put labels on the food that we eat as good or bad, and they are not. Our minds only create those thoughts. We are pressured to look good because it's the standard society tries to make us believe. That peer pressure is there; that feeling of trying to fit in is so intense that you just fail even how hard you try to control everything about food.

And that's where you blame yourself for being a failure, and that creates a cycle of an off-on relationship with your weight loss. That's creating pressure on you for wanting to be perfect all the time, and when things do not go as expected, everything falls off again. And you get angry at yourself for not living up to everyone's expectations.

That is where you are not getting it right. That internal warzone in your head continues to be there up until we don't look further beyond food and those beliefs that make us stuck to where we are still in our life at this time.

How about listening to your own voice this time and what you really want for yourself? What about facing your fear this time, whatever that is? For all you know, your struggle is not so much about food; it just seems to be. Look at other areas of your life that need your attention, and you are scared to face them.

Family, indeed, is one element that is impacting our self-worth. Without even realizing it, sometimes a family member says things to another’s detriment. It is not surprising that one listener’s dilemma is about facing again her family after some time. The judgment, the unsavory remarks - just imagine all that, especially where body weight is concerned. It helps when you don’t take things personally, and just think that some family members are just that. And being the ‘educated’ one who knows how to control what you say and think, there are ways to set your boundaries. Have someone support you; communicate in advance and let them know that you are going through tough times and ask them to avoid topics that would push the wrong button. If you are at some gathering and out of nowhere someone’s nitpicking at your weight gain, tell them you understand their concern about your health and you are taking care of yourself. And then politely ask them to shun the topic. There is this other way where you practice all of what was mentioned to get it all out at once even before it is happening. That is, imagining before going to a party what everyone’s likely to say and practicing your answer to all of what they would comment at you. This way you already face your fears and there’s no way anymore to scare you once you face them in person. This is part of doing Hypnosis, facing the scariest thing you can imagine, getting down to it, and finally moving about with ease and freedom around what you are dreading about the most. Communicating your needs, your wants, and boundaries eloquently just helps for a natural flow of energy and support to come about. And Hypnosis helps you lead this path.

Dahlia is a self-care advocate and mindset expert and her own journey with dieting and burnout has inspired her to teach others practical tools to help them to reach food freedom and flourish in their own wellness.

In this episode, Dalia shares her journey from burnout to wellness. How she learned from that experience the importance of self-care and self-love.

And that, it is not just about one’s physical concern but all about a holistic perspective to one’s health.

She encourages us that it is alright to acknowledge the different emotions we go through and the need to feel them so it leads us to be okay in the end.

We need to understand the effects of holding and keeping emotions; a lot of physical issues are rooted emotionally. We want to do away with that.

For any change to happen we need to be aware of ourselves and the limiting beliefs we are making us to believe. When that happens we begin to rewrite the story we tell ourselves to get to the other side of things.

Learning to make affirmations and practicing gratitude change everything. Though it needs daily practice, repetition is what makes a transformative change in us.

You can always do small acts to lead you on to the journey. And it’s best to enjoy it and not focus solely on the goal. It’s never a good idea to compare yourself with others, what’s important is acknowledging how far you’ve come compared to your previous self.

It’s a daily practice and not just a quick fix. It’s good to speak to yourself as you would to a best friend. Treat yourself the compassion and kindness it deserves.

Overeating, food bingeing, low self-esteem. Are these some of what you go through right now? Should we blame it on the carbs and the choice of foods you’re eating? That’s what most of us do. For the longest time we put negative labels on the food we eat, and every time we eat that which is supposedly ‘restricted’ our inner dialogue starts to play its tricks on us. You may not be aware of that, but the negativity we give and the way we label the foods are actually what describes what we are and what is deep inside of us. Foods are neutral in themselves, the negative reality we’re projecting is what makes things blurry and sad. It’s actually all those loneliness, self-loathing, unhealed wounds, past trauma, and troubled past all coming through.

Diet mentality influences the way we approach everything, all with control. But what happens is, things get so perfect when we have everything all in place and followed to a T. When we falter, that’s when things go spiral again, and the cycle keeps repeating. But for how long can you keep it longer?
