  • What are some of the unconscious causes + coping mechanisms of burn out?

10 Mar 2022Create a Healthy Attachment to your Creative Callings00:30:31

Can we be codependent with our calling? What does that look like? This episode discusses some of the common ways we get over-attached to how our calling plays out, sometimes to the point of self-sabotage; and we discuss why even your relationship with your creativity needs to be reciprocal.

“Just because something is your light and your calling doesn’t mean it has to be unreciprocated. It needs to become the right size where it is pouring back into your life in a tangible, life-giving way.”

we discuss —

  • Why you are definitely creative + why it’s one of your most valuable resources
  • The two extremes of relating to your Creativity
  • How it’s possible to be codependent with your calling + what that looks like
  • Why it’s important to be in reciprocity with your creative work
  • One of my personal stories about “giving up” in order for my calling to be more generative
  • Why the world needs your creative gifts, solutions and perspectives

11 Aug 2022the Abundance by Annie Dillard — a Book Summary by mary grace allerdice00:21:16

Seeing, making + trusting the world. These are 3 themes that stood out to me the most while reading Annie Dillard’s essay collection, The Abundance. I will walk you through my summary of some of the most compelling quotes, ideas and prompts from this stunning compilation.

“There is something you find interesting, for a reason hard to explain because you have never read it on any page; there you begin. You were made and set here to give voice to this, your own astonishment.” — Annie Dillard

we discuss —

  • the structure of the Abundance by Annie Dillard
  • Theme #1 — Seeing, sensing or paying attention to the world
  • Theme #2 — Embodying that attention by creating
  • Theme #3 — the World is beautiful… trust the world

NOTE : for the first theme I discuss “seeing” a lot, and the kind of “seeing” i’m talking about is more of an awareness, attention and a presence. This kind of “seeing” is not dependent on actual, physical sight.

18 Aug 2022Connecting with Nature in a Digital Age w— Kalpana Arias00:44:30

Are technology + nature separate? At odds? Climate activist + ecosomatics educator Kalpana Arias joins the podcast to talk about embodied regeneration and ways to think more openly at the intersection of tech and climate. She asks us to remember our body as an ecosystem and to see ourselves as a part of the environment we’re in whether we live in the city or not.

“If we lose interaction with nature, we’ll lose nature [itself] because we’ll lose not only will, we’ll lose forms of interaction, and we’ll lose the skills to be able to interact with nature.” — Peter Khan from Nature in the Digital Age,

Kalpana is a tech-anthropologist, climate activist, and ecosomatics educator currently working at the intersection between technology, nature, and urban design. In 2020 they founded Nowadays On Earth; a platform advocating for contact with nature in the digital age and growing environmental justice for individual and planetary wellbeing.

29 Dec 2022Meditation for The Fool by Hez Stalcup00:17:41

This episode is a meditation for The Fool card in the Tarot Major Arcana by experimental dance artist Hez Stalcup.

Hez is an experimental dance artist. He works with bodies, words, sound and objects. He makes dances. He is usually in them. He makes other things that maybe get seen. Most people think his work is about being queer or about gender, its only sometimes about either. Often he is dancing about time, failure and personhood with people he thinks are smart and funny and should be looked at. He doesn’t make beautiful dances per se, rather he thinks about what makes something outlandish and solitary enough that you want to love it forever.

26 Jan 2023Reframing Productivity as a Living System w— Amelia Hruby00:55:12

Reframing productivity is a very January thing to do, yes? How can we release ourselves from the outer forces, inner voices, and productivity gurus driving us toward more-more-more? And when we do choose another path, how do we set up our work so that we actually bring our dreams to life — without getting lost in ambiguity, confusion or overwhelm?

“How do we strike the right balance of getting things done but while also feeling inspired + alive?”

I’m joined by Amelia Hruby, my friend, podcast producer + co-teacher of our upcoming course Living Systems. Together we discuss all things productivity through a feminist, ecology lens; and we share the systems + frameworks that allow us to live more in alignment with our internal rhythms, energetic capacities + ever-changing seasons.

This episode is for anyone who wants to do life, work + business your way, and needs support figuring out what your way really is.🌱

“A lot of us have embodied an industrial model for productivity that’s solely focused on maximizing output, profits, and extraction. But what if we did it in a more regenerative way? What if we did it in a way where we cared about the whole system, instead of trying to extract as much from ourselves and the things around us as possible?” — mary grace allerdice

we discuss —

  • Creating systems where we can’t help but flourish
  • What makes a system alive?
  • The difference between productivity culture (boo) + regenerative systems (yay)
  • How to identify friction points in your work
  • The foundational, resilient, clarifying power of the Earth element
  • Why we love Projects + how Projects help us bring our purpose to life
  • Projects as manifestation practice

09 Mar 2023the Magician w— Sean Nguyen-Hilton + Hez Stalcup00:59:53

A conversation with two artists on the archetypal Major Arcana card The Magician.

Sean Nguyen-Hilton (they/them) is a Virgo Sun, Pisces Moon, + Leo Ascendant. Sean danced “professionally” for about two decades, and worked in higher ed for about four and a half years.* Sean is a tarot reader of 27 years and is currently studying Hellenistic astrology. Sean is a Co-Founder and Team Member of Fly on a Wall, an artist led platform that presents and supports process and performance. Sean invests in care, awareness, sensation, and love, all of which he practices through the lens of queer stamina, movement, and evolution.

Hez Stalcup is an experimental dance artist.

11 Jan 2024Water as a Living Being w–Aishath Huda00:43:26

Today Aishath Huda joins us to share her lifelong connection with water and how it has shaped her creative process and perception as an artist. In this conversation about art, nature, and experience, we explore the fluidity of more-than-human consciousness and the impact that abstracting water has on humanity and climate literacy.

“When we extract water, or reduce it to H2O, or categorize it as merely a utility and, ultimately, a commodity, we take the place out of water. And this influences how we perceive accountability and our sense of responsibility toward water and climate issues. I mean, climate issues are water issues. Water issues are climate issues.” — Aishath Huda

Aishath Huda is a Chicago-based visual artist from the Maldives. She makes work that investigates the relationship between bodies and the environment in both the local and the ecological sense. Her most recent work addresses the many ways water is abstracted through ethics and aesthetics, how this affects climate literacy, and how climate literacy is connected to human and more-than-human relations.

we discuss —

  • Huda’s life-long connection with water
  • Interacting and collaborating with water through art
  • Challenging logic that centers humans
  • Life informing art and art informing life
  • The commodification of water
  • The connection between Huda’s work and performance art

25 Jan 2024the Magic of the Third △00:25:07

Today, I explore one of my personal codes and symbols – the number three and the concept of the third.

Three is always inviting me to go deeper and unpack more and more of its layers. It pulls me into a wider and greater understanding.

Tune in to this episode to learn how the three or the third gives us a code for understanding humanity’s current chapter, as well as how we can become more skillful in what seem to be increasingly polarized situations or realities.

“The third is not just playing the game. The third is making the game. It's creating the story, the orientation point from which we experience life from a different vantage and then we can hold a new truth.” — grace allerdice

Themes from the episode —

  • The polarization of duality
  • The wisdom of three
  • Becoming creators, not just players
  • Paradox as a truth

Investigate what happens when we avoid initiation and how to recognize when we’re doing that. Through exploring the relationship between ego death, spiritual maturity, and our connection to greater Forces, we uncover why many people remain stuck in patterns of pain and projection. Learn why engaging initiation is crucial for personal growth and how avoiding it keeps us tethered to beliefs and behaviors that prevent true evolution.

“everything you want for this world, out of the beautiful innocent goodness of your Heart, can only manifest if… when… there is a Great Change in human consciousness.” — grace allerdice

we discuss —

  • The difference between spiritually mature individuals who embrace initiation versus those who avoid it
  • How lack of initiation keeps us stuck in adolescent emotional patterns
  • Why we struggle to connect with and embody powerful energies
  • The importance of death and rebirth cycles in spiritual transformation

  • Two crucial ingredients of initiation
  • Why many people struggle to make sense of their transformational experiences + resist growth

06 Feb 2025from Judgement to Mystery 🌀00:44:42

On the spiritual path to becoming our Selves we must release dogma and court Mystery.

So many of us have been wounded by our experiences with religious institutions. We crave something bigger than certainty, but we’re only offered shallow identity markers and multiple-choice metaphysical “answers.”

For those of us who do leave church dogma, we often become steeped in political or scientific dogma. We turn to the superficial pleasures of judging others on social media, television and the internet.

Judgment and ideology is alive and well everywhere. But what if we left them behind and stepped toward Mystery?

Learn how to stop avoiding the Mysterious path and find the antidote to separation.

“We can’t really judge, because it’s a Mystery.” — grace allerdice

we discuss —

  • Why we choose judgement + ideology instead of uncertainty
  • What we’re really craving when we reach for God
  • How to embrace the path toward Mystery
  • “Everyone is God in drag.” — Ram Dass
  • Why your body is not better or worse than your spirit
  • Humble stewardship + discerning difference without judgement

03 Apr 2025NOW is the Seed for Next 🌱00:35:00

Our relationship to stories creates our understanding of time and what NOW means.

So in this episode, grace begins by looking at stories in two ways — stories as lenses and stories as magnets — to help us become more flexible and creative in the face of pessimism and cynicism.

Then she explores how softening our stories allows us to step into the currents of time and move at the pace of Life.

NOW is the Seed for Next. Listen in and join us.

Time is not fixed. Time is not set. The story is not already decided. The story is a writhing, alive, dancing, breathing snake. And so the more skillful we get with our energy, our spiritual practice, and our creative practice… the better we are able to dance and writhe with that snake. — grace allerdice

we discuss —

  • the stories we’re telling about our Selves and our lives
  • how story follows state + state creates story
  • why Now is the soil + the seed for what’s Next
  • what to do when the Story is an obstacle
  • the importance of quiet + making space to listen
  • why your pain is not your contribution
  • how to be supple + strong

03 Oct 2019Your Breath is Your Guide to Presence w— Dr Crystal Jones00:48:50

Retired chiropractor Dr Crystal Jones is shifting the narratives + paradigms around healthcare, wellness, inclusivity, listening and self-advocacy. Professionally, Dr Jones has worked in many different modalities, including: chiropractic, reiki, yoga, doula work (for both birth + death); and they bring this radically full background into their exploration of presence, which leads us to find our YES.

We discuss:

  • Making decisions based on desire + joy
  • The value of being, listening + believing in healing environments
  •  The primary role of witnessing one another + the world
  • Leaving room for who we are without our titles + responsibilities
  • Why fulfillment needs to be an integral part of success
  • How the breath can help you make decisions and choose your
  • Uncovering unconscious biases in the work place
  • Deconstructing money as “I love you” and other stories

Dr Jones desires to create a practice that was based in radical vulnerability, revealing and allowing. They are  certified and have practiced in many modalities and see those languages of healing as tools that evoke awareness - rather than services to be offered. Through their deeply devoted practice to presence I create brave space for people to be with fullness of themselves. Dr Jones’ mission is to disrupt this narrative of brokenness with the power of intentional presence.
